I rent a nicely furnished and quiet room in my spacious 2 Bedroom apartment in Prospect Heights. It's a GREAT location, close to Prospect Park, lots of restaurants and night life, great subway access. The room is very private and cozy and quiet.

The space

I have a spare bedroom in my large, occupied 2 Bedroom apartment in Prospect Heights Brooklyn. The room itself is medium sized (approx 10'x11"), with a small closet. It is simple, spare, and clean, furnished with a full sized bed and a large bureau. The apartment is full of light, has parquet floors, and is very well located one block from Grand Army Plaza and Prospect Park. The kitchen is well provisioned and fully functional. You are welcome to cook here. There is one shared bathroom. There is a cat that lives here, her name is Ginger, and she is incredibly friendly.

The neighborhood is just awesome. Vanderbilt Avenue, with all its restaurants and bars, is a block away. The Museum, Botanical Gardens, and Library are all close. And the park, of course. Lots of subway access, with the 2/3 nearby, as well as the B and the Q.

I am an adjunct NYU professor, artist and activist. I frequently work from home, when not on campus, but am generally quite busy with lots of projects.

Guest access

There is high speed wifi internet, and television if you want to watch TV. You of course have access to the kitchen for cooking meals.

Interaction with guests

I tend to not interact a whole lot with guests, but am happy to answer questions for them. I am usually here with the guests but travel frequently.

Other things to note

I have a cat.

Mark is very easy going, I barely saw him in my stay but if I had any problem I would text him and he would help me. I had an allergic reaction because of ginger the cat, so if you are allergic I don't recomend you mark's place, but if you are looking for a quiet place to stay this one is good. The neighborhood is really nice, there are a lot of cafes and also delis and grocery stores near by. You have a lot of access to the trains also.

An older apartment in a nice location. Easy to get around. Close to public transport. Owner was happy to have a chat when we crossed paths but he was away most of the time I was there.

Great stay! Very private and comfortable. Five-ten minute walk to the subway lines. Great restaurants and a couple of bars close by. Appreciated the hairdryer since I was trying to pack lite, and the AC really helped when it started to warm up outside. Keep in mind the four flights of stairs to the apartment. Beautiful neighborhood, nice host, convenient location, sweet cat. Thanks again Mark! :)

I really enjoyed staying with Mark. His cat Ginger is the most adorable animal. So if you're a cat person, Marks place is your spot! Also I appreciated very much that he provides coffee and a wide variety of teas for the guests. That was really nice to wake up to. I also liked the room that was very quiet and warm. There's enough space for everything and it is comfy.

Mark is an extremely rad dude! Really welcoming, has been in the neighborhood for a long time, is adjunct Professor at NYU and is super interesting to chat with. Instayed with Mark for 4 weeks and loved it! The apartment is really close to the Grand Army stop and steps from a ton of great spots on Washington or Vanderbilt.

Let's see....I'm from Maine. Grew up in the woods, skiing and swimming, hiking and camping. Now I live in the big big city and I think I'm suffering from Nature Deficit Disorder... I've been an artist and political activist for the last 15 years in NYC, that's made for a meaningful life here, and amazing friends. I've had work in the Whitney Biennial and I've appeared on the Rachel Maddow show for artist-activist work that I've done. I have also been an adjunct professor of Media Studies at NYU for the last 12 years. I'm currently a batchelor. I love to cook meals for other people, and play sad songs on the guitar. Love indie film and indie rock. If I could get my website together I'd point you in that direction, but I've been too busy for the last year to update it.
