I rent a nicely furnished and quiet room in my spacious 2 Bedroom apartment in Prospect Heights. It's a GREAT location, close to Prospect Park, lots of restaurants and night life, great subway access. The room is very private and cozy and quiet.
I have a spare bedroom in my large, occupied 2 Bedroom apartment in Prospect Heights Brooklyn. The room itself is medium sized (approx 10'x11"), with a small closet. It is simple, spare, and clean, furnished with a full sized bed and a large bureau. The apartment is full of light, has parquet floors, and is very well located one block from Grand Army Plaza and Prospect Park. The kitchen is well provisioned and fully functional. You are welcome to cook here. There is one shared bathroom. There is a cat that lives here, her name is Ginger, and she is incredibly friendly.
The neighborhood is just awesome. Vanderbilt Avenue, with all its restaurants and bars, is a block away. The Museum, Botanical Gardens, and Library are all close. And the park, of course. Lots of subway access, with the 2/3 nearby, as well as the B and the Q.
I am an adjunct NYU professor, artist and activist. I frequently work from home, when not on campus, but am generally quite busy with lots of projects.
There is high speed wifi internet, and television if you want to watch TV. You of course have access to the kitchen for cooking meals.
Interaction with guests
I tend to not interact a whole lot with guests, but am happy to answer questions for them. I am usually here with the guests but travel frequently.
Other things to note
I have a cat.
I expect people to be clean, respectful, and relatively quiet. You're welcome to read my books, listen to my music, and use the kitchen, but not eat my food or be a drunken fool. Houseguests would be OK, just communicate about it.
Let's see....I'm from Maine. Grew up in the woods, skiing and swimming, hiking and camping. Now I live in the big big city and I think I'm suffering from Nature Deficit Disorder... I've been an artist and political activist for the last 15 years in NYC, that's made for a meaningful life here, and amazing friends. I've had work in the Whitney Biennial and I've appeared on the Rachel Maddow show for artist-activist work that I've done. I have also been an adjunct professor of Media Studies at NYU for the last 12 years. I'm currently a batchelor. I love to cook meals for other people, and play sad songs on the guitar. Love indie film and indie rock. If I could get my website together I'd point you in that direction, but I've been too busy for the last year to update it.
