This could be a really good rental property with a few changes however at this point I cannot recommend it to anyone based on other properties we've stayed in or visited. Saiko was very helpful and quick to accommodate and respond via email. She allowed us to add on an extra day at the start of our stay. Her husband and other long term Tennant's were was also very helpful offering advice. Additionally the location is perfect for accessing all the ski hills, with the train station being a 3 min walk and shuttles generally available. The building is not modern and somewhat unfinished, which can be tolerable if priced right. It would seem that accommodations cost a bit more in Japan, but still I would have expected a room of this quality to cost $50 per night total instead of $50 per person. The big deal breaker was the lack of heating. I realize that it is not uncommon in Japan for buildings to be heated with kerosine space heaters; however, the building was so cold we could see our breath at times. It made taking a shower or going to the bathroom very unpleasant. Additionally the space heater provided for our room was not vented outside. The long term guest that greeted us swapped out our heater for one that apparently gave off less fumes, but still the fumes were very concerning to the point where when the heater was running, we had the window cracked slightly for fear of carbon-monoxide poisoning. While sleeping we did not run the heater at all for fear we would not wake up. If the price and hearing were addressed, this could be an excellent no frills rental, but as is I would strongly recommend against staying here in the winter unless the heating issues are resolved. As is this rental might be a good place to stay in the summer, but it is not equipped for the winter.

Hi Saiko, so sad we didn't met u up. but we met yr husband. This home stay is friendly, clean, warm and comfortable. We reach there around 10pm and leave in the morning. "because of rushing". Feel badly because of over there not long. They arrange us a prefect view. We was surprising that it is surrounding snow mountain. We definitely will come back for visit saiko's coffe shop and ski.

Convenient location close to Hakuba station and beds had good thick blankets to keep warm. Communal kitchen was a bit chaotic as could be expected but still functional. Noise from one of the other rooms was a bit of a problem though, someone was watching TV until 3:30am which wasn't great for sleep
