Welcome to our home! This is a stylish flat in a historic building (it used to be a theatre) in the best neighbourhood in London. Ideal for visitors interested in good food (Borough Market), great art (Tate Modern) and charming walks (Southbank).

The space

Welcome to our home! The flat includes a living room, kitchen and bathroom (wet room) downstairs, as well as a single baby room that opens into a main double bedroom upstairs.

We have a 19 months old baby, so could also provide a highchair, changing table, baby bathtub and other baby accessories if needed. We also have a travel cot that is available for families.

The main bedroom is fitted with a "super king size bed". We also have a sofa-bed that currently lives in the living room that could be moved to this bedroom if requested.

The baby room is fitted with a single high quality (30cm Searly) mattress on the floor. Please note the baby room opens directly into the main double bedroom (see pictures). That means that someone in the baby room will pass through the main double bedroom in order to get downstairs. This perhaps makes the flat more appropriate for families that don't mind sharing the space.

The living room includes a dinning table, as well as a sofa-bed that turns into a single-bed (please see the model on the pictures).

The bathroom (wet room) is perhaps the most unusual part of this flat. The space used to be part of a theatre and was later adapted to become our home. As you can see on the pictures, the shower and toilet are in the same enclosure. (This makes it the cleanest toilet you'll ever find as it is washed everyday when we have a shower!)

The flat also gives access to a roof terrace with a lounger, parasol and outdoor lights.

Guest access

If you book our home you will have sole use of the entire flat. The roof terrace is shared with one neighbour (but there is plenty of space).

Interaction with guests

This is our family home. So if you are a guest, that means we are off to an adventure somewhere.

In cases when we have access to the internet, we'll be happy to communicate before, during and after your stay. However, in instances when we are unpluggled, we have family in the building and a very trusted cleaner in London - they would be able to help with any urgent matters.

Description is bang on. Info videos were a nice touch. Great for a family with younger kids. Rooftop terrace is nice. Did not see Gabriela but everything was explained fully before our arrival. Very convenient location for local transport and sights. Borough market is amazing, plus lots of other places to eat.

The appartment is very good but there is a lot of humidity so it doesn't smell very good. The emplacement is near all the visits. Gabriela is very welcoming even if we haven't see her. Her explications are clear. She answers all our questions.

Response from Gabriela:
Dear Maya, Thank you for the review. I'm happy you were satisfied with the location and that my video instructions were useful. We do live in Central London, which is a famously humid place. So unfortunatelly humidity is hard to avoid. I have sent you many messages during your stay and you haven't mentioned the smell problem in any of them - so you never gave me the opportunity to try to fix it. We do have a dehumidifier and a airpurifier in the house. Regards, Gabriela

Gabriela was very attentive and communication and feedback was excellent, before and during our stay. On arrival we were met by Gabriela's father-in-law who showed us around. The apartment is in a super location for central sightseeing by foot and close to neighbourhood delights of Borough Market. The super king bed was amazingly comfortable. I stayed for one week with my 3 teenage children over Christmas.

There are so many wonderful things to say about Gabriela, about the neighborhood, about how well she and her father-in-law treated us, and about our overall experience that I will certainly run out of room. Gabriela was so clear, and attentive -- it was sort of amazing given that she was in Greece and we were in Italy, France, and London when we were communicating. She answered all questions and concerns IMMEDIATELY. Her father-in-law lives on site and he was beyond kind to us -- I can't thank him enough for all of his help, right down to dealing with a lost cabbie. Amazing. As to the neighborhood there simply is no better place to stay in all of London. We walked everywhere -- the Tate and Globe are practically around the corner and the apartment is in the center of the London universe. The tube is close by, but hardly necessary because you can walk everywhere. There are lovely restaurants out the front door -- we particularly loved the Indian place less than a block away and the funky little breakfast place that turns into a Turkish restaurant at night right across the street. The best breakfast place in London is a couple of blocks away, but get there early -- we arrived as they were unlocking the building and their was a line out the door by the time we finished breakfast. The apartment itself is funky and kind of artsy -- they are clearly interesting people and this is their real home. The bathroom is unusual (the toilet is in the shower) but only if you are not accustom to traveling outside of the US, it was actually kind of cool and it made for a very clean bathroom. The rooftop garden is a great place for morning tea or a sunset glass of wine. Seriously, get this place -- it is affordable, relatively large, comfortable, and you will be treated like gold by your host. We will never stay anywhere else when we visit London. Thank you so much Gabriela and Philip, you made us feel so welcome and made our stay so enjoyable. See you next time we are in the UK!

Response from Gabriela:
Dear Carmela, Thank you so much for your lovely words. It makes us very very happy that you enjoyed your flat and London so much. I agree with you that Philip (my father-in-law) is a wonderful person and we are lucky to have him next door. I'm really sorry I missed the Airbnb deadline to write you a proper review as we just got back from Greece yesterday. But I can say here that you and your family were fantastic guests. Olga told me of how clean the flat was left and Philip praised your friendliness! Thank you very much! Please let me know next time you come to London. We would love to meet you or, if we are away, host you again. Best, Gabriela

Gabriela's place was fantastic, she was extremely helpful with information and tips - providing us with bus and train routes to her place as well as comprehensive information about her apartment and how everything worked. She was also very flexible with our arrival time which was extremely helpful. The apartment itself was exactly as described and very tidy and comfortable. It's in a great location - close to public transport and a scenic walk to a lot of the London landmarks. We would highly recommend her place to anyone wanting to stay in inner London, and was perfect for us for the week.
