The top floor of a classic Sydney terrace house, located in a hidden, quiet and leafy lane. You'll be a short walk from everywhere, but it's so quiet it feels like a retreat. A heritage home in a heritage area.

The space

This is a spacious, sunny family home, with five beds that sleep seven; two queen-size, one double, and two singles. The sunny courtyard is shared with the neighbours downstairs and is filled with plants, bikes and children's toys.

The kitchen is full-size and has everything you need to cook.

And there's a piano.

Please note that the third bedroom (containing a queen bed) can only be accessed by walking through the second bedroom (containing the double and two single beds).

Other things to note

Our apartment is clean and functional, but has has some ramshackle elements; a stained ceiling from a now-fixed leaking roof, peeling paint, warped floorboards, and has a comfortably bohemian "lived-in" feel rather than an antiseptic hotel room feel. If you like everything to be "perfect", this is not the place for you. But if you like it homey and real, it is.

Great neighborhood, very spacious appartment, nice welcoming host. Appartment is dated and guests should not have the highest standards on quality of the house and finishings.

I'll admit the house was certainly not what I was expecting. I may have set too high of expectations, but the lack of A/C, cramped bathroom, and several unwelcomed bugs were a bit much for our group of five. We ended up buying another fan at a nearby store to supplement the ones he already had. That did help a bit. The place was also a bit sloppy and cluttered with belongings. Colin did explain prior to our visit that his normal housekeeper was unavailable to clean before our arrival due to the holiday and that he had a friend helping him out with that instead (Dave, very nice lad), so that just may have been an unfortunate timing. Colin responded quickly and problem solved quickly as well. Good host.

Colin's place is perfect for staying in Sydney - very central to everything, short walk to shops and cafes, quick taxi drive to kings cross and darling harbour and all located in a quite lane away from all the traffic and noise! Colin was very helpful with everything! We were given parking permits so we could drive down from Newcastle so we didn't have to pay for parking, he didn't mind if we had a couple eggs out of the fridge and even left us a goodie pack with chocolates for our arrival (which were eaten very quickly lol). I would recommend staying here for sure; it was very easy going, close to everything, it is what you see in pictures and as described and Colin is prompt at getting back to you with any issues or queries. Girls weekend was a success - thanks heaps Colin :)

Lovely neighbourhood with kids playing in the lane when we arrived, so ours felt right at home. The house was just as described; wonky floors and so on, but the kitchen was modern and functional, the beds were comfortable and it was nice staying somewhere that felt like home. The bathroom is very small and doesn't have a bath, but fortunately our kids are used to having showers anyway! This is a good choice for families who are on a budget and who need a fully functional house/kitchen. Free WiFi was a nice bonus also. Highly recommended.
