Master bedroom recently added to the use of the home. Master is now included in the pricing for the home.

I am open to trade with other air b and b rentals.

Upon entering, you will be greeted by a glass and stone tower with lots of light and warmth, along with a sweeping spiral staircase leading up to the upstairs bedroom and full bath with skylight. A metal bridge attaches the main house with the kitchen giving this home an industrial look which complements the coziness of the wooden floors, multiple fireplaces and comfortable living spaces.

The kitchen and dining room are filled with French doors leading to an outdoor patio, giving lots of light and views of the trees. Cathedral ceilings, a wood burning stove, recently fixed and working perfectly! and skylights are welcoming and warming.

The living room is cozy, with wooden floors, another wood burning fireplace, recently fixed and working perfectly, a curved leather chesterfield sofa, comfy chairs and charm. Adjacent, is a darling bedroom with Queen brass bed. There is also a library- t.v. room (with Netflix and Amazon as well as many films and television shows on dvd) with a fireplace hearth which is not functional and a queen pull out sofa bed equipped with a comfortable inflatable mattress. Each guest room has its own bathroom. The 2 bedrooms are far enough apart that they feel like you are in your own world. Very quiet, but the living space affords a great way to interact and have a fun and fabulous Berkshire getaway.

All wood stoves are in working order and wood is provided.

LGBTQ Friendly. Wireless Internet. Pets upon request.

Walking distance to Monterey Village and Monterey General Store, 10 minutes drive to all the amenities (shopping, restaurants, theater) of Great Barrington and only a short drive to Catamount and Butternut ski areas. Gedney Farms and Old Inn on the Green and many other wedding destinations only a short distance. Tanglewood just 30 minutes away for summer concert series. Close to Bear Mountain hiking trails and lake Garfield swimming and boating.

Access to the entire home, kitchen, garden, wireless and Roku.

Guests may ask any and all questions of me and interact as much as they wish.

The town of Monterey is quaint and wonderful and access to skiing and hiking is only minutes away.

The garden is in the process of being redone as a natural landscape of native and sustainable plants. A moss garden, a wildflower meadow, a grasslands and forest edge are all areas that you will see in their 4th year of growth. The design was created and designed by Johnny Linville the Manager of Horticulture for the Highline, NYC. As such please be respectful and do not damage the plants or pick the flowers as the plants are growing in the most natural manner possible.

A car is necessary for the area.

We met our Boston-based son and his girlfriend at George's place for a long weekend of hiking and eating, and it was perfect for both. Located just a few miles from the Beartown State Forest (and a 45-minute drive from Mount Alander and Bashbish Falls), it gave easy access to some great hikes as well as to all of the civilized amenities of Great Barrington. As a serious cook, I LOVED George's kitchen--it's a beautifully designed space where everyone could hang out while I worked, and it's very well-equipped. The rest of the house is equally cool: architecturally interesting and full of fascinating tchotchtkes. George let us bring our golden retriever and he loved hanging out in the entry way and kitchen and sniffing around the big yard. We'd like to come back sometime.

Great house in a great location. House is almost like a museum, full of artifacts and curios. Very comfortable beds, super-well equipped kitchen, gorgeous grounds. As others have already stated, house is not well suited for children - I would be concerned about breakables and beautiful objects. Monterey is a one-horse town- small general store and post office, but it is close to Lee and Great Barrington, but is away from the crowds and traffic. Super bike rides in the area. Highly recommended for those who like something unique and a little off the beaten path.

Unique house with some strange decorating items. Looked like a lot of props for a play. We cooked dinner and breakfast everyday. We found the kitchen had everything we needed. The 2nd bedroom upstairs has a small bed but was comfortable. The bedroom downstairs was a ways from the bathroom. The master was very comfortable. Not many golf courses to choose from in that area, but lots of opportunities to hike. We would stay again. Thanks

Quiet location. Large open kitchen. Very unusual decor, probably not the best for young children or dogs. Close to Monterey village and Lake Garfield.

We absolutely loved staying at George's very special house! The location was perfect for us -- close enough to Tanglewood, Great Barrington, Stockbridge, etc. while still having the best of the rolling hills of the Berkshires in a lovely setting. The layout of the house was perfect for privacy yet has three distinct and comfortable areas to gather inside as well as additional outdoor space. It would be a wonderful choice for a group, feeling extremely cozy yet quite spacious! But what truly sets George's house apart from anywhere else we've stayed is his extraordinary collection of interesting treasures that fill each and every room. Impossible to adequately describe! George has done an exceptional job of decorating his home. Couldn't possibly have asked for better communication with George. Great host! Can't wait to return in another season!

George is an excellent and communicative host... and his home is beautiful and interesting. Well situated in Monterey - secluded but also not far at all from GB and various wonderful country restaurants. The kitchen is excellent, and the rooms are comfortable and provide plenty of space for each party (we had 3 couples away for weekend). Out back there is also a fire pit and a grill, and space to enjoy the outdoors. We will very likely return, and highly recommend George and his home !

I am professor at a local college, I have lived in the area for 4 years, I moved here from Brooklyn. I love the area and am always willing to help you make the best of your time in the Berkshires. Breakfast is an option when I am in town, I can be in town when you are staying or I can be away during the summer. My home is new and is still undergoing some work so please bear with me if the garden doesn't look perfect... they take time!
