Everything within 20 minutes drive!

Bay of Islands - Paihia has a great variety of restaurants, boat trips and other touristy things, Waitangi has the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and muesum.

Russell is a short passenger ferry ride from Paihia, or drive via Opua and the car ferry. Pompallier House / museum / cafes / restaurants / tours / beaches / etc.

You may wish to visit the Pioneer Village at Kaikohe or the cattle sale (Wednesday afternoons).

Okaihau is the "end of the original rail line" and the cafes are enjoying business from the fabulous Twin Coast Cycle Trail.

Waiomio has the Kawiti glow worm / stalagmite/stalagtite caves.

Puketi forest is well known for major kauri trees and board walk.

There are many walks locally; eg Haruru Falls board walk, cycle trail, Kerikeri's Rainbow falls.

Kerikeri is home to the oldest wooden building still standing (1821) and oldest stone store (1836).

Waimate North Mission Station has the second oldest house (1831).

Kerikeri also has a great shopping centre (and Waipapa's just a few minutes away with more stores).

Kerikeri's Old Packhouse market is every Saturday morning until 1.30pm with produce, music, stalls, crafts etc and again on Sundays with antiques etc. The Farmers Market is every Sunday morning.

Try the free samples at Makana Chocolate Factory on the way in to Kerikeri.

There are several wineries around Kerikeri.

Ngawha has interesting very basic thermal hot pools to sit and relax in.

Or you could just stay here and relax watching and listening to the extensive variety of bird life.
