In the historic center, this XIX century exclusively renovated house keeps the traces of historical Porto. Brightness and design make it an exceptional place. Terrace and garden are a haven of peace in the vibrant city center, at the top of Almada street.
It has a sunny and elegant living-room, a modern fully equipped kitchen with a terrace and access to a private garden. In the 2nd floor, two suites provide the comfort for a perfect stay. A premium place for an extraordinary experience!
At the top of Rua do Almada, this renovated house keeps the typical atmosphere of the historical center of Porto (stone, interior shutters, ceiling height...). The district is in the heart of downtown : shops, design or vintage boutiques, bars and restaurants and metro are all nearby. In a few minutes walk, you can reach emblematic historical places of the city : Praça da Liberdade, Rua das Flores, Sé Catedral, Clérigos, Lello bookshop ... The Douro river is about 10 minutes walk.
On the first floor of the house, a 388 sq ft living room, bright, combines a sofa with a chaise longue and a large table with chairs and bench with a book shelve. On the other side of the interior staircase, the kitchen (270 sq ft) is custom designed by a local master carpenter. The kitchen block, with a dishwasher and a ceramic hob integrated, is covered with Silestone (natural quartz) and illuminated with a hanging lamp created by designer Christian Haas. An oven integrated, a washing machine and a dryer are housed in the main cabinet. Porcelain tableware is also designed by Christian Haas. The kitchen is extended by a 106 sq ft terrace overlooking a small private garden (540 sq ft) accessible by a wide metal staircase. You can take your meals in 4 different spots: in the lounge, around the kitchen block, on the terrace or in the garden.
On the second floor, two bright bedrooms are displayed on either side of the central staircase. Each is equipped with its own bathroom (shower and toilet) and a double bed
(queen size). The largest bedroom includes an indoor veranda (with large windows) and a dressing room. In the smaller bedroom (with wardrobe), the double bed can be transformed into two separate beds. The bed linen is of high quality. A bay window roof illuminates the staircase with natural light.
Plants and small trees (rosemary, lemon, mandarin, flowers …) adorn the sunny garden (lawn).
From 1 to 4 people, you have the entire house for you! Equipped for cooking, resting but also to work quietly (fiber optic internet connection), this charming place is a source of inspiration.
Interaction with guests
I am managing this house which belongs to a friend of mine: a Parisian charming women named Zahia. I will be very pleased to welcome you in Porto and provide you the best insights about the city!
Here are some words about the house owner, and her relation to Porto:
"I discovered Porto two years ago. This city is a pure delight. I undertook the renovation of this nineteenth century house for which I had a ‘Coup de foudre’.
I’m living in Paris where I was born. I spent six years in New York where I worked for the United Nations. Founder of the French office of Lonely Planet (travel guides), I was also the Lonely Planet general manager for Europe during 10 years before starting my own publishing company. My path is punctuated by trips all around the world. Today, I hope that this house will offer you a moment of intimacy and tranquillity in one of the best European city."
