Birds' eye view from the best area in San Diego - The Second Story Cottage is located next to the iconic Georgia Street bridge. It is walking distance to the famous San Diego zoo, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and much more! We are fun, and friendly neighbors. Plus the apartment is adorable! We know you'll love it :)

The space

Second story adorable cottage is situated right in the heart of Hillcrest/Uptown just three blocks from all the award winning restaurants on Park Blvd. You are also only a short walk to the historic Balboa Park and to the world famous San Diego Zoo. High end and super comfortable queen size bed. Futon converts to a bed to accommodate a third guest. You'll definitely get a real sense of the neighborhood riding your bike rental or even on foot. There is a Farmer's Market every Sunday just three blocks away. Our cottage will beat any hotel in the area guaranteed! We have a 1/4 acre in the city. It has been called 'the country in the city' because of all the greenery. We are within walking distance to Balboa Park and the Zoo (5 blocks).

My friend Leah helps me manage the cottage, so she will be your primary contact to schedule your trip. Me and my husband and daughter are often in the backyard, so we are happy to meet you.
Note: I also do intuitive readings and past life regressions ( and was trained by Brian Weiss MD and the Berkeley Psychic Institute) , so if you want to have 'mystical travels', Leah can arrange that with you as well.

We are 4 blocks from grocery store/ Sprouts, so you can cook if you want. The neighborhood is full of fun, affordable, healthy, exotic, and unique bars and restaurants- all in walking or biking distance. Neighborhood is also LGBT, Vegan, Organic, Burner, and Eco Friendly- all are welcome.
We are also 10 minutes by car to Downtown, Seaworld, the beach, and just about anywhere else.
We do have a cat and 3 chickens on the premises, however - they are contained in a chicken run (not free reign) near our house (in front).
We often have backyard bonfires and potlucks with friends that you are welcome to join in if you'd like, if we are having one.

I do speak some French (I used to live in Paris.)

I am not near the beach, but am close to downtown. I am on the main bus routes.

Interaction with guests

My friend Leah will be managing the initial reservation and check -in, however if we are around - we would love to meet you.

Other things to note

This is residential neighborhood, so please respect our neighbors (and us :) ). Please no parties or rowdy behavior. We do not rent to parties (ie Bachelor/bachelorette - the stories I've heard :) and kids under 8. We have a 12 year old daughter so we like kids, however the cottage is 2 stories and not childproof at the moment for small kids.

We are fun, easygoing people who aren't crazy about rules. But we've learned that it's better to be crystal clear about what is and isn't allowed when you book the cottage, so we avoid any misunderstanding or confusion. So here they are;

*We must receive full names and ages of all guests who will be staying in the cottage before we accept your booking. Maximum of 3 guests allowed. No unannounced or extra guests.

*Can't use grill or jacuzzi attached to the front house/backyard, it's a liability thing.
*Kids age 9 or older only.

*No pets allowed, sorry.

*No smoking

*Please close gate behind you firmly when entering and leaving.

*No items may be left out on the sidewalk in front of or on our driveway as it must be kept clear for our neighbors and pedestrians.

*As the cottage is in our backyard, we ask that you be respectful of our neighbors and keep things quiet after 10pm. No extended hanging out in the front yard or driveway. No loud music, shouting, late partying.

*Please leave cottage in same condition you found it and reasonably clean. We appreciate it! Please keep track of the key- if you lose or damage the key we'll have to charge you the cost of making another one.

Great communication with Barbara and Dave. I was there for a whole week, and if i needed something in particular, like a hairdryer, they made sure i got it within the hour. Good location, very calm, parking available too.
