Great house/ castel for bigger groups. Actually it is an awesome place: huge garden with a horse a lot equipment to use in the garden. The house offers a lot space to sleep. We had a great birthday party their with barbeque downstairs! Unfortunately there is a minimum of equipment in the house (cleaning stuff, basics like salt, sugar is not available), so be prepared for your first night. Pier is great. Very helpful and a nice relaxed guy. We would come back!

The accommodation was exactly as advertised. Managed to squeeze in 20 people into all the beds, which was a plus. Pierluigi was extremely helpful and accommodating. All in all, I do not have any complaints and would happily recommend to stay here.

It was so much fun to stay in Il Castello - it's an amazing place with so many historical details and quirks to explore and experience. We loved the massive fireplaces, huge tables, heavy ornate doors and windows and ridiculously high ceilings. The grounds are huge, and the pool is excellent (although very heavily chlorinated/treated), as is the enclosed soccer pitch. The place is very clean, and we were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the beds were and how functional the bathrooms were. The three kitchens have lots of cutlery and crockery, some pots and pans, but no food staples - you'll need to bring your own salt, oil, etc. Some touches were missing - there wasn't enough toilet paper in the bathrooms, for instance, and the fridge wasn't working - but Pierluigi was very responsive when these problems were pointed out. We stayed in August, and the bedrooms were warm, but fans were provided. There were lots of mosquitoes, particularly around the pond and in the evening - Pierluigi provided candles and electronic deterrents, but worth bringing insect repellent.

You will get the genuine feeling of staying in a 13th century castle, which is amazing and hard to find. Pierluigi is a nice host and very willing to help us get a comfortable stay. The castello was very well cleaned when we arrived and we were amazed by the building and the nice garden. However there are certain things to know about and improvements to be made. We were there during a heat wave (around 35 degrees). The heat during nights was nearly unbearable (often the bedrooms were hotter than 30 degrees). We were forced to sleep with open windows which led to severe mosquito bites to our children. Most of the bedrooms don't have any mosqito screens for the windows. There is only AC in one room in the house and that is not a bedroom, but the upstairs TV-room (by the way there is no remote to the TV so you won't be able to connect your own HDMI device if you'd want that). The floors have been recently polished with something that stains, so everybody's feet were bright red after ten minutes of walking around in the house. The kitchen equipment is not OK. Combined between the three kitchens, there are about two pots (both are huge), a small frying pan, just enough plates, cuttlery and glasses. Only one decent fridge/freezer (and decent means we couldnt really keep stuff in the freezer - the ice cream melted). Don't plan on preparing hot food; stick to cheese and cold cuts, or the rent-a-chef possibility. There are restaurants within walking distance. The town can offer supermarkets nearby. There is poor lighting, and not all bedrooms have bedside lamps. Some just have really bright flourecent lights. Not ideal/cosy. The pool is large and has three different zones with various depths. Really nice for children. However the purification / cleaning chemical is very strong, so the smaller children were actually crying everytime they got any water in their eyes. The mosquito bites mentioned above started hurting when dipping legs and arms in the pool. Any adult will also feel uncomfortable dipping their head under water. This comes from somebody who generally takes the kids to the pool every week - we are not new to normal chlorine levels - but the chemicals in this one is something out of the ordinary. Don't forget your dive mask/goggles! There is a very friendly horse, a dog and a few cats roaming the premises, which was very appreciated by our children. All in all we had a great time, but the drawbacks mentioned above should be known by future guests. We might consider coming back, but given the price range and the location (which is nothing other than the outskirts of a small village) - we would expect a higher range of the equipment and mosquito screens or AC in every bedroom. A serious trip to IKEA would be advisable for the host - get a bunch of lamps, basic kitchen equipment, a...

This was an incredible place to stay! We were a family group of 16 and we loved the Castello. It's an amazingly well preserved medieval building, extremely clean, and was lots of fun for the kids and adults to explore and immerse ourselves in. And is much more impressive to see in real life than the photos suggest! The grounds were lovely too, and the pool was clean and nice to swim in. The town is a nice, quiet country town with friendly locals. And for us was a great base to take day trips to so many of the cities and sights this region has to offer. Pierluigi was such a nice, friendly man, a very easy going host, and was a pleasure to deal with all the way through. Thank you so much for hosting us at your Castello, we will all have very fond memories of our stay here!

A real castle experience! We were a group of 12 guys and we really enjoyed the stay. Pierluigi is very friendly and helps with everything - he even cleaned out the pool off season for us, by him self. Late april offered a bit cold evenings and the castle did get a bit cold with no real heating, but this was not a big issue for us. Great food was prepared by our own cook, and we could to enjoy music into the early hours under the Italian night stars. Every thing else as described. Top notch.
