What words can I use to describe my stay in Levanto - amazing, stupendous, incredible etc etc. I loved the Cinque Terre area which helped, but the experience was much more enjoyable because of where I chose to stay. Levanto is perfectly situated with a very short train trip to Montorosso. Marco was the perfect host. He picked me up at the train station, and also dropped me off (and carried my bag for me!). He gave me a lot of good advice about things to do, and let me borrow his bike as well which enabled me to visit the villages to the north. Breakfast was lovely fresh focaccia and bread rolls, with yoghurt and juice available as well. The wifi was not always the best in my room, but there is a nice communal area with small tables which I could sit at to update my blog and upload pics. I agree with other reviewers about the thin walls, but it never bothered me as I was pretty tired after walking all day. I am typing this while in Rome, and the traffic noise outside is more noise than I hear at Marco's.The shower is very good, and the room was clean with plenty of space to put things. I would love to return to Levanto, and would definitely stay with Marco again if I did. I have also recommended him to all my New Zealand friends. Fiona

Marco made me feel very welcome and went out of his way to make my stay just perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better host. The area is lovely and a great base to do cinque terre and the ferry ride to Porto Venere is well worth it.

If you go to Cinque Terre, definitely stay at Marco's apartment in Levanto. I went to visit Cinque Terre just after the high season, September 4-September 7. The 5 towns of Cinque Terre were still super crowded during this time, and starting and finishing my days in Levanto was convenient. The same train and ferry as the other 5 towns, just one extra stop, with half the amount of people and hills to climb up. Marco was informative and friendly and his place was clean and 5 minutes walk to the beach and 5-10 minutes walk to the train station. My bag suitcase was super heavy and Marco kindly gave me a lift in his car to the train station (which is close enough to walk to with less luggage). Espresso is available at no cost at Marco's apartment. He also gave me excellent dining recommendations. He enjoys fishing and he took the time to show me the style of fishing that is done in this part of Italy. As a solo woman traveler, I felt comfortable staying in Levanto at Marco's home. The room was big and could fit another person. It was a very good price for this location and for this time of the year. I decided to stay in Levanto for one extra night. At that point, all of Marco's rooms were booked for the next 2 weeks, but he was kind enough to make a phone call to his neighbor Narina, who had a room available. Another tip, if you are planning to stay in Levanto, don't wait until the last minute to make your reservation! And stay at Marco's home!

I had the best time in Italy at Marco's place. It was the most amazing days of my tour. Marco is an amazing person. He really goes out of his way to make you feel at home. He has a lot of knowledge on the area and is very friendly. I got to know so many things about the Cinque Terre and Levanto. It was such a knowledge trip. Also, the best part was he gives a cycle to his guests. This is the best thing. I took the cycle all day around town and neighboring towns. Also, he gives you a secure parking space. It really helps to leave the car and go around by cycle. I was able to learn so much about the area and people by staying at Marco's place. It was truly exceptional. The location is amazing. Right in the center of Levanto. Tons of local shops around. Great food options. The train station is so close by. Just ask Marco, he will guide you. Marco's place and Levanto is a great base to visit the Cinque Terre and surrounding towns. Very well developed tourist facilities. The room is very nice. Very well built, comfortable, and clean. The common area is amazing, great coffee, place to hang out. Real good. I would really like to go back again. It was really wonderful. You can really get a local experience by staying at Marco''s place.

If you are looking for quiet place to stay hidden in the centre with many restaurants shops and cafes just stone's throw away Marco's place is just ideal. It is also located literally 7 min away from the train station by walk. Moreover Marco is super friendly and helpful and happy to give the tips about the region and answer all the questions. I've enjoyed my stay so much that I'm already planning next visit. Thank you Marco!
