Private upstairs heritage apartment (on flat) luxury bedding, welcome basket, full kitchen, fast Internet, smart TV, park on site, book up to 7 day blocks. To book longer book twice part periods. e.g 5+3=8 days. 5 mins drive university, city centre.

The space

1 king bedroom & 1 queen bedroom. Ideal for a single(s) or couple(s) sharing or parent(s) & child. Quiet first floor apartment, modest road noise in morning from traffic going to work. Can't hear cafe below. The apartment RGA was the post-master's residence. What I love is it is a heritage building with private home feel. If you're able, keep the RGA tidy while you stay.

Guest access

Property is on the flat, upstairs is the apartment. Keys available direct to guest in combination key box lock at door. Parking for one vehicle on site next to deck. Downstairs is Grid Cafe & Roastery where Nicky & Gavin's barista coffee is available. Grid Cafe hours 08.00-3.30pm. Laundry is in a separate service block on site. Site and Laundry is shared with GRID cafe.

Interaction with guests

By booking the RGA it's all yours. You can call me (Martin) or visit Grid Cafe downstairs for an assist if you can't figure things out or something goes wrong. Grid Cafe's crew do excellent coffee. Downstairs cannot hear upstairs as soundproofed. The RGA is a homey apartment and not a Hotel... so come and chill out while staying in the Royal George Apartment. Its a 100 year old heritage building with character and the price is real value for money.

This is a well appointed apartment in a lovely character building. Comfortable and warm. Although we stayed only 1 night would definitely be suitable for longer stays. Appreciated the extra treats on arrival and the helpful advice of sights to see around this region. Excellent communication. Many thanks Martin.

This is easily one of my favourite AirBnB's. This is one of those places where the finer details are taken care of - appliances are modern, kitchen is well equipped, cupboards are stocked and entertainment is covered with cards, boardgames, A Smart TV and a great sound system. Dunedin is a stunning place to visit and North East Valley is an authentic local base. The city centre is easily accessible from NEV and neighbouring Baldwin Street is great for getting a sweat on! The shared laundry is not an issue. Cafe owners are lovely people and usually gone by late afternoon where you have uninhibited access to the laundry anyway. I'll definetly be back!

This is a great location and really comfortable apartment. We all had a great nights sleep (children included). Martins suggestion to see the glow worms was a hit! We will definitely stay again on our next trip to Dunedin.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Martin's spacious and light-filled flat in a quiet residential area. It's a few minutes' walk to a pub and a takeaway and about 15 minutes to a large supermarket and a larger selection of shops and restaurants. There's a little traffic noise at peak times but it's generally a quiet street. As the photos show, the flat is well furnished, with good quality furniture, including a very comfortable bed, and plenty of storage space. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and we had everything we needed for our stay of several days. The kitchen and bathroom are clean and modern. The solid walls of the historic building mean it felt warm inside, even when it was a little cool outside. Gavin and Nic downstairs make a mean cup of coffee and are very helpful and friendly. Communication with Martin was excellent, as were his directions. Providing some kitchen essentials such as milk and bread, plus snacks, was really useful and thoughtful. Friendly and warm, Martin made sure to check everything was ok and is very quick to respond. He has heaps of tips for the local area and is a great host to help you enjoy Dunedin and the surrounding area.
