Interaction with guests

Kirk has worked as a park ranger in the park for many years and Mariska works for the park too.

We can help you pick trails that are right for you, but we might not be available all the time.

Sometimes this might mean that you need to check yourself in, but we will always make sure you have everything you need and you can reach us when need be.

This summer we will be spending a lot of our free time in the park too, so we might not always be around.

We are both avid hikers and everything else outdoors, whether it is summer or winter, hike, ski or snowshoe.

Other things to note

You can hook up your laptop to our TV, so bring it along if you want to watch movies off of your laptop.

We are both avid cross country skiers and have intimate knowledge of the Leaf Lake Ski Trail network. We can help you pick the trails which are most suitable to your level of ability.

We have two cats, but they are not allowed in the apartment and have never been in there. If you're allergic to cats, you need not worry!

Mariska is fluent in English and Dutch.

We've been having issues with the directions that Airbnb offers to find our place. Please follow the directions that we offer on our site and in our communication with the guests.

In the event of a power outage, which sometimes happens when we have a severe weather network moving through our region, think of thunderstorms, high winds and a sudden downpour or rain; it could happen that we don't have power. When this is the case, keep in mind that we will not have power for our waterpump. Which means that we will be unable to flush the toilets or use any other source of water, such as drinking water and the shower. A power outage is a rare event, but if it does occur, please keep in mind that amenities offered will be limited and it is out of our control. In case of a power outage, we do have a barbecue available for our guests to cook their food on. We will do our best to be as accommodating as we possibly can.

Mariska and Kirk were very friendly and helpful in telling us the amenities and park trails around Algonquin park. The place was very quiet and cozy. A perfect get-away from the city.

Mariska and Kirk's place is a very comfortable base camp after those long days of paddling or hiking in the very close Algonquin park. It was clean and quiet with everything you'll need to feel at home. We'll definitely come back next time we explore Algonquin and the surrounding areas.

Mariska and Kirk are very friendly. Their place is very clean and comfortable and the park pass was a nice surprise! Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend there and get to know them better. We plan to return!

This was a great place to stay, close to Whitney and the east park entrance (less busy!). Mariska and Kirk were very helpful, providing directions and recommendations. And Booth's was fantastic! The digs were excellent as well...a perfect home base after hiking and canoeing.

Mariska and Kirk's place is perfect for a great getaway to Algonquin! So nice and clean.........everything you'd want in a home. Mariska was so easy to deal with and she even was in touch with us after our arrival to make sure all was well with our stay. For those who are using Algonquin Park ....their home is in a great area....not far from the East Gate (15mins). So enjoy!!!

Mariska and Kirk were friendly hosts and their house is in a very nice quiet forested area not very far from town. It seemed new, was well kept and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay and the apartment was better than I imagined from the photos. Overall a great home base from which to explore Algonquin park.

Mariska And Kirk User ProfileMariska And Kirk is a superhost.

I am an outgoing and active person. I love the outdoors and all the activities that come with it. In the summer this means hiking, canoeing and fishing in our backyard, Algonquin Provincial Park. In the winter time, this means cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and so much more.
Kirk works for Algonquin Provincial Park as a park ranger and loves to share his knowledge about the park, when available.
