Dordie was an amazing host. Her and Graham made me feel right at home and apart of their little farm (I even helped deliver a couple of beautiful lambs!). The cottage was perfect. Kitchen was full of utensils, pans etc. and even some necessities like tea and milk. There was wood for the fireplace in the comfortable living room. The bedroom was great. Good bed and lots of storage space to unpack if you're staying for a little while. Hot water and good pressure in the shower/bath. I can't wait to go back again soon, even if it's just to say hi to Dordie and the animals!

Hi Rachel, Thank you for this lovely review. I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay; we certainly enjoyed your company enormously whilst you were here on your Cider Making Course. I can't wait to learn where it leads you as I am sure you have all sorts of exciting adventures with cider and fermentation ahead of you

I am a cheerful energetic person who loves the countryside and wildlife.

My husband's job took us travelling rather a lot! It was very exciting exploring new places but now I am happy to settle and make this house a permanent home. We have lived in:-

Weybridge, Farnham, Hull, Beverley and Pangbourne in England
Shaker Heights, Ohio and Naperville, Illinois in America
Recklinghausen in Germany.

I now run the farm that my family bought in July 2012. We breed Jacob sheep, raise geese and we have a sheep dog called Pomme. There are also cats on the farm. We make apple juice too. There is a lot to learn and do; farming is a busy but enjoyable life and no two days are quite the same.

I am very interested in the local ways of life and am keen to support our excellent local producers. We are lucky to be able to do this here in Gloucestershire where there are plentiful supplies of wonderful foods grown and made right here. We have a farm shop where we sell our own lamb, apple juice & goose eggs together with a selection of foods and gifts from our friends.

I enjoy visiting the various festivals in Cheltenham which is a short drive from here. My favourite is the Science Festival; it is on for a week and I go every night. The races at Cheltenham are great fun too

I also enjoy healthy cooking, especially if I have discovered an exciting new ingredient. Living on a farm, I obviously make a variety of chutneys with home grown ingredients! My signature dish is stinging nettle soup which is amazing. I can recommend places to shop for foodies and interesting cooking courses to attend.

Gloucestershire has a lot of outdoor music festivals in the Summer. I like to buy about eight tickets and then gather friends and family together. This year, we went to Bee Fest at Hellens Manor.

Pomme and I go for wonderful walks together. We are right in the middle of The Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills and the Forest of Dean. Sometimes our visitors come along with us.

Although we live in a quiet little corner of England, there is plenty to do here and I am always ready to help our visitors find nice things to do. Here are some examples of things to do on days out:-

A variety of interesting towns within a short drive

Antique hunting - without London high prices

Local theatres

Outlet shopping

Country fairs, country pursuits, shooting, horse riding etc

Festivals throughout the year in Cheltenham. Literature Festival is 7th - 16th October.

Music festivals

Local markets selling local produce

Cooking courses

Craft Courses

Cider making courses
