Bridesmere is located in the beautiful Teign Valley on Dartmoor. Recently converted to a very high standard. Set in 50 acres of private nature reserve with lake. Woodland and riverside walks, or cycle (borrow our bikes), Dartmoor, Fingle Woods. Excellent walking, biking, horse riding, golf, wildlife, best wild swim spot in South West, games barn.

The space

Bridesmere was restored in Spring 2015. A former barn, it retains many of its original quirky features, and provides spacious accommodation over two levels, comprising of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, separate toilet and utility area and a large upstairs open plan kitchen/living/dining room.

Bridesmere is detached and located on the western side of Clifford Barton courtyard with its own parking and a private garden to the rear. The garden is fenced, with views down the Teign valley and Fingle Woods towards Fingle Bridge, and features a fire pit perfect for BBQs or cooler evenings and a patio ideal for outdoor dining.

On entering Bridesmere there is a good sized entrance hall with plenty of space for coats and footwear. A wide wooden staircase leads directly up to the first floor. Halfway up the stairs is a large glass door that provides direct access down some stone steps onto the patio and garden.

The first floor is open to the eaves and comprises a double bedroom, a shower room and a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area.

The double bedroom has a king sized bed with a very comfortable 1500 pocket sprung mattress. There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a sofa.
The modern shower room comprises, shower, sink and toilet.

The upstairs floor retains its original slope from North to South and this is particularly noticeable in the kitchen/living room. The lounge area has two huge, soft tan leather Italian sofas and matching armchair to sink into, a 32 inch flat screen TV, DVD player (please note Bridesmere does not have a woodburner). Beyond this is a large dining table with 4 benches able to accommodate up to 12 people. The end of this room has an open plan handmade kitchen with large wooden breakfast bar on which there is an BOSCH induction hob, and ample open shelving so that you don't have to go rummaging around in cupboards for utensils. There is a large fridge (and freezer in the utility room), BOSCH oven, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and NESPRESSO coffee machine. Beyond the kitchen a large glass door allows exit/access down a stone stairway to the parking area.

Downstairs is a large double bedroom with kingsize sleigh bed and 1500 pocket sprung Harrison mattress giving you an in credibly comfy night's sleep. There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and sleigh day bed/ sofa. This can be used as an additional bed for a child.

The other large downstairs bedroom has 4 single beds, 3 are long singles (European length 200cm) and the 4th is a standard single size (190cm long). All are 3 ft wide. This bedroom has a large en suite family bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and sink.

There is also a separate downstairs toilet and a washing machine and utility room.

Bridesmere has a telephone which accepts incoming calls only and has WIFI.
Thought has been given to the property's restoration throughout, with great attention to detail, and all soft furnishings are handmade.

We loved our stay here and the host is very welcoming and helpful during the week. The cottage is perfect and the facilities especially the free bikes to use were great. The renovation of the cottage is of a high standard and there's plenty of kitchenware provided for all of us. It's definitely family friendly place and its a quiet place to get away from the city!

We had a very comfortable, quiet stay in Bridesmere. Our grandchildren all loved it as they could run around outside & play in the huge games room. Just a lovely atmosphere about the whole place. You feel it as soon as you walk in. Cosy & beautiful & clean. Will be going again next year!,

Beautiful location. Clean and tidy house with lovely interior and comfy beds. Stayed here as part of a group of 8 girls and we were very comfortable. Delicious homemade cake and local apple juice on arrival too! Good garden with a big table and enough table and chairs. Stunning view. Would highly recommend staying here.

We had a great time staying at Bridesmere barn. The bedrooms were huge with big, comfy beds, the kitchen had all the pots, pans and utensils you could need and the living room was cosy. The location was great with excellent walks to be had around the grounds and further afield along the river.

We fell in love with Vicki's place. Its beautiful, spacious, authentic, charming and exceeded all expectations. It was great to have cycles accessible for us all to ride around the farm and woods, visit the small ponies on the farm, hear the birds, see the stars and just relax. The barn is equipped with everything from games to a nespresso machine and a second barn with a pool table, table tennis and table football all accessible. Something for adults and kids to all enjoy. Thank you, we hope to come back soon.

An absolutely amazing place to stay. We were in the area for a wedding over the weekend, and could not have asked for a better place to stay. The accommodation was phenomenal. Beautiful building, with lots of space, both indoor and outside, for the entire family. Vicki and her family were incredibly gracious hosts and I hope we have occasion to go back to the area and stay here once more.

Myself, my husband Gavin and 3 kids live at Clifford Barton. We fell in love with the place in the summer of 2013, as a wonderful location to raise our family. Having renovated the 3 cottages to a high standard, we are delighted to invite others to come and enjoy the peace and quiet and rich natural environment that this part of the Country has to offer. We manage the 50 acres of woodland, meadows, lake and ponds for wildlife and its enjoyment. We are all on hand to help you make the most of your holiday and advise you of local walks, pubs, activities.
