We're sorry that your stay in our bunkhouse did not meet your expectations. We are quite proud of the fact we have earned the superhost status for the 3rd time running and we pride ourselves on being friendly and striking the right balance of ensuring our guests are comfortable while giving them the privacy that a bunkhouse in the country deserves.
I (Aideen) normally do the welcome chat but was unable to do so as our new baby had other plans at that moment. I would have pointed you to the draft excluder that sits at the back of the door that is there to block the wee gap that you refer to, Martin must have forgotten to tell you this.
We do say to all our guests to pop down to the house should they need anything and Martin did speak to your husband several times on the first night and agreed to sort you guys out with the stuff you forgot to bring. (We're well used to this and happy to help) As you guys had not brought towels, your husband asked if you could borrow 2 and said he would go and get some from the car the next day. (The Airbnb website symbol for essentials is of a towel but it also covers bedding, soap and toilet paper, all of which we do provide so we clearly state that towels are not provided in our description.)
He also asked for eggs and cheese which we were happy to provide and said that he'd come and get them later. (He did not come for these).
Martin chatted with your husband each day and was told tales of what your family had been getting up to, offered your husband more wood to make a fire, bantered about the weather and got an affirmative that you guys were all good.
We also called up to you on the hill to check everything was OK and asked you again when you popped in to arrange a lift back to the ferry.
These are the type of encounters our guests are used to and indeed have helped build our positive feedback. It's a real shame that you didn't mention any of your complaints during these meetings when asked if everything was OK because we would have addressed them.
It's probably worth noting that as the Byre was not available for full hire, we did offer you guys to use it free of charge to eat dinner. Again, gestures like this normally go a long way to make our customers happy so it's a shame that you didn't feel that way.
Our wee bunkhouse by nature is indeed rustic. As with any old building deep in the countryside it is hard to keep out all the small creatures so we can only apologise that you encountered some during your stay here.
All the best,
Aideen and Martin
