A rainforest cottage set in 25 acres on the Rosewood River, about 16 ks from Bellingen off the Waterfall Way. The river is a very special magical place for swimming , connecting with nature or just relaxing. Its a place for relaxing, reading, painting or just being We adjoin the Gondwana World Heritage area and Dorrigo National park, where the river begins it journey. The cottage is next to the main house where I live.
Situated on the pristine Rosewood River with swimming holes, rainforest privacy and plenty of space to relax. It is a deeply spiritual place. The cottage has a mezzanine bedroom, which sleeps two,air conditioner, firewood combustion heater, self contained kitchen, with fridge, small oven, laundry and a delightful bathroom looking over the rainforest. The large deck has a spa which also looks over the rainforest and river and an outdoor dining area. There is nothing more calming than going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the river. There are two swimming holes, rapids and smooth flowing waters. You may even sight a family of platypus who share the river with us. No fishing please.
Guests have access to all areas of this beautiful property, except the main house . There is a lovely courtyard area between the two houses, with a great fire pit to warm yourself by, and for storytelling. There is also a large fire pit in the main garden totally private and away from the house.
Interaction with guests
I have worked in hospitality all my life, and am happy to help you get the most out of your stay. I respect privacy and I love interaction with interesting people...your call entirely.
Other things to note
The cottage is about 5 metres from the main house, but designed in a way which facilitates good privacy. Telstra is the only network available, however a phone is available for emergencies. Parking is not undercover.
Enjoying and respecting the environment is the key to a great stay.
I'm very relaxed and happy to hear laughter, singing and enjoyment.
So does myLabrador Snooki who is very friendly and social .. so you really need to be a dog lover as well as a lover of nature.
There are a number of things to be aware of, [particularly if you come from the city] and you will be given a personal briefing on arrival so you can get the most out of your stay.
I'm a 71 year young single man with 4 remarkable "children" who left sydney 4 years ago for a 25 acre stunningly beautiful property on the Rosewood River at Thora near Bellingen. I adore all sorts of music and art, particularly Aboriginal art , my family and many friends all over the world, and am passionate about my work helping Aboriginal people in Arnhem Land to develop small cultural tourism businesses. I am also Chairman of a start up company called Adventure Junky which presents over 1000 extraordinary adventures in over 100 countries in a fun exciting way through our APP.
I go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning to the music of my magical Rosewood River, which comes straight out of the World heritage listed Gondwana National Park. I love living here after the hustle of Sydney and love to share it's magic .
