Reviews are designed for Airbnb users to share their experience with the community and to assist fellow travelers and hosts in making informed decisions when booking so I will try to fill-in a little here, providing some context to that end.
The room Royal suite for One, that guest eventually used, as most others listed by me is located in a house build and furnished by my late parents by the 90-ties (duvet covers back then were styled with diamond shaped holes). I chose to rent the place to travelers, as it gave me motive to maintain and improve the place, while at the same time providing touch with the world, extra income and creative outlet while providing me a window to a time past. It is a budget place and I maintain that I essentially provide half price deal, because, since I have a job, interests and responsibilities, I can not guarantee you the top service at all times. Consider the deal you are making! If something is called Royal but price set at technically lowest level possible, and no extra fees, there most be something left to be desired, no?
Senior Croatian guy that lives here for more than a decade, is a helping hand and is watchful. He appreciates peace in the house within period from 21:30 to 06:00, concerning mostly area around his room. "Everybody needs to lock the door - two turns of the key please, do not leave the area around house entrance soiled, common courtesy like greetings exchange is appreciated; empty the washing machine once you are done; mop the bathroom floor, no kitchen towels thrown in the toilet bowl; consider helping wheeling the rubbish collection bin to the street at noon on Wednesday and Saturday .."
Toilets are made new and all contact areas are free of dirt, grime, lime, what have you. Place is free of mold or associated problems and traits. I see that guest gets freshly washed linen and towels on arrival.
If a cold spell comes during what is technically summer, the blankets we take out of wardrobe may not be ideally refreshed and aired. There is lifetimes supply of utensils and what not, with some of the kitchen napkins at the back of some drawer surely washed, ironed and folded by my mother, who passed years ago now. So, if you want for example, pressure cooker, yes we have it on 'the top of cupboards' probably and since no one used it for years, its probably dusty. Bike? May have puncture today, but in day or two you can ride it.. XXL pot may be stashed elsewhere. Keyboard and mouse for your laptop? - in some cardboard box, sure. Yoga mat? - may needs rinsing. Extra towels? Out of season clothing? Radio? Mirror? Table lamp? Grill? Bags? Kayak? Phone charger? Filter coffee machine? Coffee grinder? Have meat and gas stove but would like to use electric oven instead? Plug it in yourself please. Water cooker does not inspire confidence even though other residents favor it? Remember that you were handed brand new one in hands on arrival and left it unused! Vacuum cleaner and cleaning utensils are accessible by all. Would like to help with the garden? Ask for tools - we may even buy you some - pick favorite plant while we are at it, to leave a trail.
Changes and improvements are made on the go, fast tracking us to 21st century, and most of the time there is some project going on, getting ready or waiting for finishing touches; _phone plug_ in the hall may got loose as we were still playing with the optimal location of WiFi router, decorative wooden boards in the kitchen were given time to settle - your excessive steam may have unsettled them.
Pattern of letting here is not a tourist service but a rental, where resident taking place is also taking responsibility for maintenance of their room and common spaces. At extreme, I may clean the high-gloss finish furniture at evening with T8 58W fluorescent light plus 5x 35W halogen light, but in the daylight one could still see the wiping opportunities.
At another extreme, some rooms were initially ignored or used as storage rooms, but occasionally a guest, given choice, would prefer the very room so we would give it overhaul on demand. Just recently loft got listed and rented that way, for example!
