The space

This private, second-floor apartment lies on a bicycle boulevard in vibrant and friendly South Berkeley. San Francisco is 20 minutes away on BART and UC Berkeley is 10 minutes away on bike or by bus (or a 20-minute walk through great neighborhoods).

The apartment has a queen bed, large closet, full kitchen, full bath, living room, outdoor sitting area and lots of daylight through western-facing windows. It opens onto a porch with views of the Berkeley Hills, newly installed flower and vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and a big patio.

We'll provide wifi, all the cooking supplies you'll need, locally-roasted coffee and a small library.

Walking distance to 2 Farmer's Markets, the famed Berkeley Bowl, Asbhy BART, 2 bus lines, and with easy access to the rest of the Bay, this lovely home away from home is perfect for a getaway or plugging in to everything the Bay Area has to offer.

The Bay Area abounds with culinary diversity and we offer an extensive reference binder with recommendations for fantastic restaurants within almost any cuisine. Parks, playgrounds, hikes, gardens, museums, theaters - let us know and we can direct you.

This is a great place for anyone visiting for meetings, guest teaching, or seeing friends/family in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Other things to note

RE: Occupancy Taxes ~ We just received notice from the City of Berkeley on Saturday August 19th that we will need to collect an occupancy tax of 12% from all guests beginning September 1st. We've reached out to the Airbnb platform to request that they incorporate this into the booking process but it will take some time and we've not been given much notice in this case. This is something to be aware of and will be collected in cash upon your arrival.

I had a great stay at Brieshen's place. The apartment is big and is close to both Berkeley city centre, a BART station and a large supermarket. Brieshen and her family were all friendly and accommodating. I recommend anyone to stay at Brieshen's place!

Everything we needed was available to us (kitchen supplies, towels, and even basic amenities in case we forgot a toothbrush), and it felt like we were right at home. Brieshen had very good communication, so anything we needed to know was transparent and seamless. The place was right near Ashby station and across the street to Berkeley Bowl, and just a short ride away from the UC Berkeley campus.

We had a wonderful stay at Brieshen's lovely apartment. The location is perfect, tucked away on a peaceful side street, but only a short walk from Ashby Bart and minutes from Berkeley Bowl. Brieshen was a great host, and has obviously put a lot of love into making the apartment welcoming and comfortable. The little basket of toiletries waiting for us in the bathroom 'in case we forgot" is a great example of a great host.

We had a very pleasant stay in Brieshen's Airbnb. The location of the apartment was excellent with great proximity to the BART and Berkeley Bowl. Everything in the apartment was easy to operate and everything worked well.

This was my second stay at Brieshen's place. The apartment is tucked away from the street in a beautiful neighborhood filled with trees and flowers. The neighborhood is quiet and very well-situated with great access to public transportation, and plenty of ameneties within a 5-minute radius, including the wonderful Berkeley Bowl grocery store. This time around I had the opportunity to explore the immediate neighborhood a little more and found some lovely restaurants and places to visit. Sconehenge (a diner with home-made scones and delicious Mexican-style breakfast dishes) has become a new favorite in the Bay Area, and I walked away with an armful of great books from Half Price Books in Downtown Berkeley, just one stop away on the BART. I felt very well-taken care of by David and Jessica. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend Brieshen's place.

Brieshen User ProfileBrieshen is a superhost.

When our family travels, we make an effort to stay with local hosts in order to really get to know the people and communities we visit. Bicycling around town, hunting through small market places, whiling away the afternoon hours listening to stories and watching the weather change - these are the small moments which have always made our adventures meaningful - and this is what motivates us to open our home to Airbnb guests!

We love the outdoors, gardening, rich food and wine, sweet music and spending time with good people. We hope you do too!
