Private 2 bedroom suite downstairs in 4 bedroom house. Very quiet street/safe neighborhood. Walking distance to coffee, campuses, restaurants, and brewery. Raleigh Greenway leads to NC Museum of Art. Very relaxing back yard. Plenty of parking.

The space

You will have downstairs all to yourself. Both bedrooms are double antique frame beds. Though there are two bedrooms I only book one party at a time (meaning your bath is always private). The house has two more bedrooms upstairs with bath. Two couches and two air mattresses also available. For larger parties of 4 or more ask me about renting whole house for brief stays.

I wash pillows, sheets, bedspreads, and all towels between each guest. Dryer has steam cycle. I also supply fresh dove soap and Herbal Essence Shampoo and Conditioner. House has iron and hair dryer and various personal care needs upon request.

Street/neighborhood is very quiet at night and safe. Flower gardens throughout the yard, abundant birds, hammock/deck in backyard. Screened in porch. Great kitchen for cooking. Grill also available.

Kitchen renovated 2013. All new appliances.

Neighborhood is very friendly. Walking distance to coffee. Long but pleasant walk to bars, restaurants, and two grocery stores (less than a mile).

City center is $8-12 cab fare away. Bus stop is a block away. $1 gets you downtown every half hour.

Guest access

Three entrances. You'll get a code to the back door. Entry into sunroom/kitchen. There is a strong porch light for late night arrival. Help yourself to food and beverage items. Just replenish what you finish. Nice china is on higher shelves. Glasses in cupboard next to refrigerator are crystal. Prefer guests to use everyday dishes, but handwash crystal if you want a cocktail.

Interaction with guests

Happy to answer questions & interact with social guests. I will gladly help you enjoy your stay by offering city or regional advice on what to see/do/eat....or I'll give you your space and quiet as I often retreat upstairs to my office and bedroom.

Other things to note

If you would like any specialty items during your stay feel free to send in a request. You might consider that Whole foods allows call in orders. I'm happy to pick up most anything if you call it in.

Things to do in Raleigh: The Independent Weekly comes out new every Wednesday and will have "best bets" for the weekend. I will grab you a copy but be sure to check it out online.

Restaurant musts: Pooles Diner, the Stanbury, Bida Manda (laotian food) and 42nd Street Oyster Bar for a peck or mussels. If you like tequilla and empanadas try Calavelas. Places to grab a high quality cocktail: Foxes, C-Grace, and Foundation. Breweries: Crank Arm, Raleigh Brewing and Trophy (both walking distance), with a few others just outside of town that are noteworthy.

Brunch: Capital City Club, Irregardless Cafe

Southern Cookin': Watkins Grill, State Farmers Market Restaurant

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Julie. There are countless reasons but I'll give three here: 1. Her home: Julie has a beautiful spacious home, with the comfiest beds, and a beautiful backyard. After traveling on a red eye flight from the west coast, Julie's home was incredibly refreshing to stay at. 2. Her hammock: Julie's backyard is so enjoyable to be in. She has a comfy hammock that is shaded by a beautiful big tree. I enjoyed the NC summer night and noon, resting on that hammock. 3. Her hospitality: Julie's place is great, yet the best part about her place is her! She is incredibly gracious and knowledgeable about NC having lived there for so long. Her home is stocked with anything you'd need and she's glad to share. Thank you Julie. You're a blessing Yui you guests!

Julie was an excellent host. She has a very warm and inviting home, beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, and located very close to everything we needed. The neighborhood was very quiet, and I loved waking up to see friendly neighbors out walking their dogs. I recommend this listing to anyone who wants to be close to the great city life of Raleigh yet a quiet place to relax.

Former park ranger, dude ranch wrangler, and restaurant manager who is happy to host and help you plan your stay while in Raleigh. I'm a native North Carolinian who has been to every corner of the state. Hoping to raise funds to finish attic into walk in closet and put in a greenhouse in backyard. Look forward to meeting new travelers and sharing my home. I can also clear out if you need the whole house and stay with friends nearby.
