Places to stay in Aberchirder
Cosy, homely, private cottage in the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside. Light the log burner and sit back to relax. The old schoolhouse has loads of character and feels remote and quiet despite being well situated just off the main Banff/Huntly road. Banff is about 5 minutes drive, Aberchirder 4 minutes, Turriff 13 minutes and Portsoy is about 10 mins. The perfect base for exploring this beautiful area. The garden is large and you have full run of the whole premises during your stay.

  • We loved staying at Moira and Ian's house. They were wonderful hosts. We really felt at home, as one more. Already staying made us partakers of their lives. We had dinner and breakfast together, we talked, we walked, we were with the horses. A real pleasure. We were very sorry for not being able to stay the truth for more days. We will be back. Thank you very much you two!

Situated in small, picturesque Aberdeenshire glen. Castle trail, coastal trail, whisky trail, salmon and trout fishing and Cairngorm mountains at our doorstep. Three miles from local shops and amenities in bustling farming town. A quiet retreat, nestled within a croft with donkeys, horses, hens and pigmy goats grazing on the land. Small dogs and cats in the home.
  • Staying with Marianne and Robbie was like staying with friends. Lovely, kind and fascinating friends. Their home is filled with unique things, they are very welcoming and the bed was like a giant hug. I was especially happy to pet the dogs, sometimes all four at once. One day I'll go back, and for longer than just one night.

    Mirjam2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne's place was in a lovely location, the room was homely and clean, however common areas of home has a strong animal odour, due to the inside pets. lovely couple and great hospitality, recommend this place for animal enthusiasts.

    Nick2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne and Robbie's Airbnb is something we would recommend to everyone, they are a lovely couple and very caring of their guests. Their farm is amazing to be at too, all animals are very kind, and it's just so nice to be with people who has so much love for their animals. Marianne and Robbie went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and happy with our stay, one of the best Airbnb's we've been at and we'd love to come back and share more stories over the dinner table!

    Petter2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! Marianne and Robby are very friendly, great hosts and do everything to make their guests feel at home. Guests should like dogs ;) they are lovely! • I had an absolutely wonderful time staying with Marianne and Robbie. They were incredibly hospitable and really welcoming for my whole stay (which was, alas, just one night). For those who are animal lovers, there are plenty of dogs, donkeys and horses to interact with, as well as lovely walks to nearby fields and streams. A great rural getaway.

  • Scott's apartment is a real nice find at the end of our stay in Scotland. Very functional, very clean, so calm in a marvellous place. Most of it, a gym, a cinema room and a sauna are available - well, we tested only the two lasts but that was really cool at the end of the day... We feel that Scott has decarcated to please his guests and that works perfectly.

    Nolwen2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, close to coast and had everything we needed. The welcome basket was fab - milk, bread, butter, cereal, marmalade and lovely fresh eggs. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the sauna was an extra bonus after our walks! Scott and Sandie live next door and were available should we have needed them ...in our case we were happy to do our own thing but it was good to know they were there ...just in case! Would recommend - friendly hosts and lovely accommodation. Alison and David

The apartment had everything we could wish for (even fresh eggs for the morning), with modern and nice equipment. We highly recommend the apartment!

  • The apartment is brand new & super clean. It is all important and fresh eggs (from own hens), milk, cereals, coffee, tea, etc. are also available. You can also use the gas grill. Scott & his wife are amazingly hospitable & we absolutely recommend the place.

  • What a fantastic house! Super clean, everything you could possibly need and Gale is a great host. Lovely scenery and feels remote, but you’re not too far from shops & supermarkets either. Just what we needed post-Christmas, a wind-down to get us ready for the new year. We will certainly be back in the future! Thank you Gale!

  • A fantastic beautiful place with a warm welcome. Only a short distance from the local village. Everything that you could need was provided. Perfect for a quiet holiday away from the hustle and bustle. Would highly recommend.

  • Gale’s house was a gem. The house was sparkling clean, very spacious and furnished beautifully. The kitchen was well-equipped and had all the necessary tools to cook our own meals, with an additional dining room (pleasant touch of various board games). The rooms were very spacious, with big closets and comfortable beds. The house’s surrounding areas provided an additional space for the kids to play and explore around. The house is located in a secluded farm, which allowed us to enjoy the undisturbed beauty of Scottish landscape. Most importantly, Gale was an excellent host by all means. She was very responsive, and did her best to meet our various requests. Her husband was very friendly, taking the time to show us around their farm.

    Mohamed2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gale is so gracious, friendly and a joy. She is a kind and wonderful host and the house and amenities are outstanding. They are the best of any place we've stayed. We loved the house

  • For anyone who reads this review, don't wait a moment longer !! Book this wonderful experience. If you are looking for: peace, tranquility, nature, a warm, clean and typically Scottish place (with a sprinkling of Africa ;-)), Maxine has created this little miracle right here !!! The house has large spaces and everything you need, nothing is really missing !!! Jo, she was really good and discreet, in our long stay, she cleaned the house and took care of everything. Another piece of my heart remained in Scotland! I'll be back soon ... Thanks Maxine !!!

  • This is a beautiful house in a quiet, rural area with views of waving cornfields. The place is spacious and we particularly liked the kitchen and dining room, complete with a wood burner. There is lots of space and a music room as well. If you are looking for a peaceful place in a rural area: this is it!

  • I spent nearly 3 weeks in Maxine's lovely home. It was very comfortable from the bed, pillow to the warmest hospitality. Maxine was away in South Africa but she took excellent care of me remotely with the help of whatsapp, her kind neighbours and cleaner. I felt at ease right after booking when she sent me details information about what to do, where to go. Her help for recommending a dentist to our sharing of scenery photos are highly, highly appreciated. Communication was seamless. Information was abundant. The home is good enough for 4 persons. I had the luxury to enjoy the whole space by myself due to the very attractive price. Location is easy to access with a car. Highly recommended.

  • We had a lovely time in Ferry Cottage. Its situated in a really peaceful spot in the countryside which was perfect for us. The house is very cosy with open fireplace and lots of interesting fishing decorations related to the old ferry masters lodge. The house was also very well equipped for cooking! Bedrooms were a good size and nice and toasty. Would recommend Ferry Lodge most definitely!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Ferry Cottage. The beds were comfortable and all linen was fresh and crisp. The cottage had everything we needed for a family weekend away. The location is a perfect distance from whisky trail, coast and close to Huntly and Turriff. Waking up the the view of the River Deveron every morning was nothing short of amazing. Would definitely recommend a stay at the cottage! Thanks Sarah!

  • A typical Scottish cottage in a fantastic place, completely immersed in nature, silent and with the river practically passing under the windows. Tastefully furnished with antique furniture but modern facilities, it is very welcoming and spacious. The route is worth the little small streets but also typical of the whole of Scotland, especially in the north. I recommend it, I would definitely stay there again. The only drawback, for long stays, is the lack of a washing machine.

    Paola2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Ferry Cottage with a group of five friends across new year 2018. The location is outstanding, right next to a river and an easy drive away from the sites of Aberdeenshire. The house itself is very cosy and warm, with both heating and cracking fires. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need. I stayed in the annex, which is essentially a little self contained cottage - also very warm and cosy. Sarah and her dad were great hosts, special thanks to Graham the neighbour for helping us out one icy morning!

The Old Manse is a historic, grade II listed house set within 3 acres of beautiful walled gardens with wonderful views of the hills. It was originally built as the residence of the Minister of the Kirk of Forgue, a hamlet of a few hundred residents 7 miles drive from Huntly, the nearest market town. It lies close to the River Deveron, which is famous for its trout fishing, and the Gordon Estate which offers beautiful hillside walks and pheasant/grouse shooting. The area is famous for its excellent food, particularly local meat and fish. A house of character The house has been in our family since the 1960s. It has traditional furniture and decor. The interior is full of character as well as being comfortable and easy to live in. Two large reception rooms have open fires and are the perfect place to relax and socialise. The main reception room is very large and has a grand piano, while the smaller reception room has an elegant dining table and chairs. A library/study is packed with fascinating books including local history and novels. There is a large dolls house and plenty of board games and lego. A grand staircase leads upstairs to four very spacious bedrooms each with a different character, and a fifth single room enjoying a spectacular view towards the mountains. A traditional farmhouse kitchen is the social heart of the house. With a gas-fired aga and large table, families and friends can gather here to enjoy a meal after a day outside. The Manse enjoys its own supply of spring water, plentiful supply of logs for the fire, as well as central heating in most of the rooms. The house has wi-fi, a TV with plentiful DVDs, Bose sound system and a huge supply of classical CDs. Well behaved pets will be considered. The Garden A private gateway leads into a drive up to the house where there is parking for at least four cars. A large, secluded garden entirely surrounds the house, planted with beautiful, mature trees, wide borders of perennials and lawns. Children will be amused for hours with outdoor activities including a swing, croquet and games, or simply playing hide and seek.

Or visit the world famous Lonach Highland Gathering, in August just 30 mins by car. If you enjoy fishing, a permit can be obtained for fishing on the River Deveron, which is a few minutes drive from the Manse. The nearest town, Huntly, is known as a centre for regional food. Enjoy award-winning haggis and fresh meat from Forbes Raeburn, a visit to Dean's shortbread factory and the farmers market on the first Saturday of the month in the town square. Huntly also has supermarkets, small gift shops, a whisky centre, swimming pool, dry ski course, and golf course - not to mention its own historic castle. Heading towards the coast, in 20 minutes you can reach the Scottish Dolphin Centre, The Macduff Aquarium, and the long sandy beaches of Cullen or Sandend.
  • The Manse has left a lasting impression on us. A beautifully historic house and immaculate gardens. The house has a lovely warm feel throughout and our children particularly enjoyed a treasure hunt in the house and gardens. Simply, we were very sad to leave. The location of the house is perfect for distillery’s, close to Huntly and has stunning views. We were lucky to find this place and would recommend it to anyone.

And It can't get better when you can enjoy a nice pint of the selection of Real Ales on offer at the bar or maybe sample a selection of local Whiskys or Scottish Gins. • I booked 2 photoshoot sessions with Sangheon. I would say I'm awed by the quality! He was able to catch the feel, choose the best angles and photo spots for me. Even though the locations I chose was totally new to him (COEX Starfield Library and Changdeokgung Palace), he put in all his efforts to find the best spots. He even walked around the entire place with me so that I could have more shots and variety. Do check him out for photoshoot sessions if you need one in Seoul! 5stars highly recommended!

  • A very unique experience. He's very professional, even though the weather was bad ( - 6 celcius, heavy snow).

  • It was my second photoshoot with Sangheon, his photos are very unique and beautiful! I recommend this experience to anyone visiting or staying in Seoul.

  • It was such great session with him. He's so friendly person, fast respond, and knowing our preferences. He managed well when I requested different location regarding my preferences and his idea was not bad at all even he did a research to make sure the location was good enough before the session. The session was quite efficient one hour session and I got a lot of good pictures. He did extramiles trying to get nice pics of me. Thank you!

  • he is very nice and accommodating! we miscommunicated the meet up location but he kindly met at the place where I was since I was not very familiar with the area. he even went the extra mile, bringing me to bukchon village because I mentioned that I wanted pictures there despite the time slot being exceeded already. I am really happy with the way some of the photos turned out too. highly recommended for anyone who wants nice shots!! :)

  • Our experience with Sangyeon was an enjoyable one. Not only giving you some quality photo shots, but his service was excellent. Although we had to change our initial location for the session, he quickly gave us another alternative and personally took us to the second location. The session was certainly memorable for us.

  • It's great to take pictures with professional touch ,we satisfied with the results 👍

  • Sangheon is a good photographer. With a very reasonable value, he gives a very good result. My edited photos was sent by him a few hours after we had the photoshoot. He’s also very friendly, and we connected very well. You won’t feel awkward when he directs you. He’s also very flexible, not too strict on timing (in a good way). I feel like I got more than I expected with him. Thanks Sangheon! Will definitely recommend you to my friends!

We look forward to welcoming you to our lovely home. Its quiet tranquil and a great place to get away from it all. All our cottages are decorated to a high standard and are very comfortable they all also have wood burners and are very cosy. We are situated right next to the river Deveron and have a lovely woodland walk plus eleven acres to explore. We have two dogs Reggie and Badger and would love to welcome your four legged friends too. please contact us if you have any questions Ally & Jason
This cottage is our favourite ! it is a lovely space with wood burner and central heating for those cosy winter nights in, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom downstairs, and a WC upstairs with two spacious bedrooms upstairs The cottage sleeps five comfortably and has a balcony with a wonderful view a enclosed courtyard and ample parking. Towels linen and bedding is all included along worth plenty of wood for the fire. Its an ideal base or exploring the area or for just chilling out and getting away from it all.
We have been living here since June 2019 and love it. We are a drive away from an array of picturesque fishing villages like Banff, Portsoy, Cullen, a bit further and you can explore the cities of Aberdeen and Inverness. We are on the Castle and Whiskey Distillery Trails. For walkers we have some of the most spectacular scenery and plenty of trails to explore. We are a drive away from various Golf courses, Sandend Beach is perfect for surfers, and there is even a skiing centre in the Cabrach Region. But most importantly Portsoy is home to the best (in our opinion) Ice cream parlour and Fish and chip shop both owned by the same family the ice cream is award winning, its worth a visit!

Traditional Farmhouse on working farm. Working farm machinery with noise and smells from farm animals will be around our house. There may be excess dust and insects at harvest time as fields close to house are in arable crops. House has limited heating, some double glazing. It can be very warm in summer and very cold in winter. If all this has not put you off, we welcome all. Be aware that people with mobility issues may find the house a challenge as there are internal and external steps.

  • This house is stunning! We loved the space in this beautifully finished horseshoe-shaped home. 7 of us stayed comfortably here with the dogs also. The photos do not do it justice or give you a true feel for just how spacious and impressive this house is. Nice and remote for peace and quiet and close to Huntly. We had a wonderful Christmas here!

  • Beautiful setting easily taken in from a house that has full length windows and tall ceilings that draw the natural light, limited as it so often can be in this part of Scotland, from all angles. Plenty of space to spread out a group or family with several large communal areas and ensuite bedrooms. Outstanding overall

  • This house is stunning. It is spacious, comfortable and everything is of the highest quality. Geoff went the extra mile at check in by coming to find me when I was lost and leading me back to the property. Definitely worth staying here. The views are stunning too and only an hour from Aberdeen.

  • Beautiful house in idyllic setting. Warm welcome from Suki, smiles, wine and flowers. Great kitchen, living area(s), and natural light (when Scottish skies allow) in abundance with windows in every direction. Wifi slow and only available in one area of the house, but when you are surrounded by the highlands of Scotland, you forget about the world online pretty quickly. Excellent all around

  • We had a perfect stay at Waterside Lodge! The house is gorgeous inside and out - it was spotless and furnished to a very high standard while retaining a very homely feel (especially the beautiful main living room around which the house is centred). We felt very secluded as there are no direct neighbours to speak of, and the setting was stunning especially with the river so close. We had some lovely walks without needing to drive away from the lodge, although we should have probably asked Sarah for tips or used one of the maps that are provided rather than just wandering around in order to make the most of this! Sarah couldn't have been more helpful and was incredibly patient with us even when we were late leaving and arriving. I just wish we had the time to have stayed longer! Thank you for an unforgettable stay.
