Places to stay in Abercraf
Peaceful, small, quiet, private cabin and patio with sink/drinking water, separate shower/toilet room across in the garden, looking out onto stunning countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park on a safe, quiet, residential street. No cooking allowed but home-made meals can be provided on request, picnics are fine and there is a choice of great pubs with-in walking distance. Super-fast broad-band. Pets welcome. Easy parking. Great walks. Dark skies. Lots of wildlife. See photos/captions.
Our little cabin used to house a pony and we've been playing with it for a few years to make an easy, relaxing, refreshing hide-away. Where ever possible we have used up-cycled things or made them ourselves. We want it to be a real change from home. See our Photos with detailed captions for the clearest impression (might not be fully view-able on phones.) We respect our guests privacy very much and do our best to leave you in peace and solitude. We only come to the cabin if we have concerns about noise or smoke! So you can loose your self a little in a safe, secure environment. Everyone is welcome from any age or walk of life. We are always delighted to have visitors from anywhere in the world. Children always love it. There are two very comfy single beds (one pulls out from under the other), free private super-fast Wifi, electricity, all bedding, selection of hot drinks, fruit, cutlery/plates/cooler ect for your own picnics and delicious, all-home-made meals available on request. Hot cooking is not permitted. There is a small choice of games and books and leaflets from local attractions. We aim for you to have a relaxing, peaceful, refreshing experience close to the elements, in cosy, informal comfort and security. We are in a Dark Skies Area which is fantastic so we keep lighting low. It gets beautifully dark here even though we are right on a quiet residential street. There are lots of very active bird feeders and the sculpture garden aims to attract and support as much wild-life of all sorts as possible. No creatures are excluded or harmed. There are extra blankets and thick duvets for the cold weather that can arrive suddenly here. Bring warm clothes. The electric convector heater should not be left on when you sleep, if the door is open or you are out. But it will warm the space quickly. Osprey Studios has signed up to the Welsh Sustainable Business Charter and we aim to reduce waste and all fuel use where ever possible. There are recycling bins for you as well as a small garbage bin. There is a good sized fold-out table to spread out your work or meals. Outside, part of your patio is covered so you have shade and shelter, fresh herbs are growing for you to use in teas or your food, there's a table and chairs, a sink with running drinking water, lively bird feeders, visiting friendly horses and cats, a potter's momentum wheel and a stunning, enchanting view. Your area is surrounded by planting so you have some seclusion and can loose yourself in the gentle atmosphere. Our cabin is small, simple and it's NOT posh!! It's tranquil, relaxing and cosy. Sleep with the stable door open or bundle up in bed with the super-warm duvets and soft blankets on a stormy autumn night. We're not fussy about a mess and mud either, so don't worry about coming back off the mountain filthy! Our place is all about getting involved in the natural world and there is a great, varied choice of walks right from the cabin. Pets are very welcome. The shower and toilet are across the garden towards the house. There is low lighting but it does get wonderfully dark. The shower has fantastic pressure and endless hot water. There is no heating in this very small, simple room. The small sink and relief floor are custom-made here at the Studio. There is shampoo, soap and conditioner and an extra towel. Big towels and flannels are in the cabin for you. There are hooks for your clothes. For the same reasons, no smoking or cooking are permitted in the cabin. Smoking on the patio is fine. The cabin is a peaceful and quiet space to rest, paint and work.
Quiet, safe, friendly, family oriented, residential neighbourhood. There is a useful Spar shop and 3 award-winning pubs with great food within walking distance, The Penycae Inn, The Ancient Briton and The Abercrave Inn. (you would be advised to book meals with them on weekends.) Variety of lovely walks right out of the cabin.
  • Lovely little cosy spot at the foot of the mountain. Rebecca does some lovely vegetarian food and there's a good choice of pubs in the area. Very peaceful with great views from outside the cabin. Thanks :)

  • We have such a lovely, cosy stay. The cabin had lots of little touches throughout and you could tell a lot of love and thought had gone into the place. We had everything we could have needed and lots of privacy but also Rebecca was a great host if we needed anything. I think it’s a great price and we would definitely stay again. If you’re looking for somewhere quirky to enjoy being in the countryside this is perfect.

  • Quirky and cozy, amazing hospitality and picturesque view. The breakfast was lovely. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend!

  • If you’re looking for a tranquil, relaxing, friendly glamping experience then this place will exceed all your expectations! The location and scenery is just beautiful and Rebecca is a very warm welcoming host who ensures you have everything you need but is far from intrusive and leaves you to relax and soak in the local beauty. We stayed in the cabin for 1 night on a very cold frosty January and the cabin kept us toasty and warm with the heater. Which was much needed after a beautiful 5 mile 4 Falls walk. It was the best night’s sleep I had, had for a long time and I did not want to get up in the morning as I was too cosy listening to the birds chirping away. We even had one of Rebecca’s friendly cats greet us at the cabin door when we opened it in the morning and we had the pleasure of it enjoying a good fuss from us :) I would definitely recommend the Ancient Briton and Penycae inn which are both in walking distance for a local pint or food. I would also recommend a relaxing stroll at the nearby Craig-Y-Nos country park (3mins drive away). All in all is was a much needed relaxing weekend at Rebecca’s cabin that really recharged my batteries and I cannot wait to book back again! :)

  • Very unique setup. Quiet, beautiful skies. Nature one step away. Horses, cats, dogs.

    Lucia2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's place is a nature home, it blends in so we'll with the nature around. The place is well maintained and has got the required items. The bed was so cozy, wa and comfortable that the heater was not even required. The place has a wonderfully garden with beautiful sculptures made by Rebecca herself. If the weather is good you wake up to birds chirping right outside the room, you could see them up close from the window. Right behind the cabin you get a beautiful view of the mountains with wild horses lurking around. Rebecca herself is an amazing person to talk to, I learnt a thing or two from her during my stay. Leon is a talented individual himself and an amazing person to talk to. If you stay here I would highly recommend getting the home made meals as they were very delicious, infact among the best I have had in Wales. Lastly, be sure to check out the Sculpted works of Rebecca. Definitely recommend this place.

A comfortable, cosy old miner's cottage, built in the 1890's with traditional features and log burner. It can comfortably accommodate 4 adults, there is also a sofa bed ideal for children if required.
Situated on the south side of the Brecon Beacons, there is so much to keep you busy on your door step, such as the Dan-yr-Ogof show caves, Penderyn whisky distillery, many beautiful waterfalls, a chimpanzee sanctuary or the spectacular Craig-y-nos castle. Alternatively, you can choose to just relax and choose a book to read from a wide selection or play one of the many board games if you prefer. The cottage offers a great location, with cosy pubs, restuarants and supermarkets close by and a less than 10 minute drive to the nearest little town of Ystradgynlais.
Good transport links by bus to Swansea and to Brecon. The bus stop is a 5minute walk away
  • Had a fantastic stay in the lovely, cosy cottage. Through out was very clean, great kitchen equipment, very helpful having the bathroom towels and tea towels provided to us. We we very greatful of the milk, tea and welsh biscuits on arrival. We especially loved the log burner which made the cottage in the evenings even more cosy and we were grateful of the kindling and fire wood provided. The whole stay was excellent and fantastic communication from Gemma. We will definitely staying again and recommend to others.

  • This is a clean and cosy place in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Lots of little thoughtful touches, as well as comfortable accommodation that has everything provided (modern appliances etc.), made this an ideal base for relaxing and for exploring the area. Situated right on one of the backbone roads of the area, there's lots of enjoyable things to see and do - whether it's traditional Welsh culture, something adventurous in the mountains, or a quiet night in with a film or some reading. Highly recommended.

    Hywel2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy, spotlessly clean cottage with lovely personal touches (a bottle of Prosecco/box of biscuites on the arrival) and spacious, modern bathroom. A perfect base for visiting Henrhyd Falls (only 8 min drive) or to hike Pen y Fan (30 min drive). Gemma is a great and caring host who kept in touch during our stay and let us check out a bit later than expected. Great value for money.

  • What a wonderful place! Enjoyed everything there is about this perfect little retreat. Kieran and his mum were so welcoming and friendly, giving you everything you could ask for & also hints and tips for things to do and places to eat. The place itself is gorgeous, homey and an absolute delight to stay in!! Words do not do this place justice!! We would be back to stay again in a heartbeat.

    Emily2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nothing bad to say about this place. From the bottle of prosecco left on the table to the hot tub that was waiting for us to jump in even though we were late (close to 10pm), every box was ticked . The storm made our stay even more adventurous as the strong winds felt like they would take the little pod flying. The mattress was extra soft and that's where my back felt neglected, but this is a personal preference and I don't expect to have it catered everywhere i go. Who enjoys sleeping on a cloud will definitely be happy here. The tub never went under 35°c event after we sat in it during the cold rain for more then 45 minutes. Don't let the bad wether scare you ( we went during a storm) and we were still able to explore the area as google maps will guide you to good parking sports to visit the waterfalls in the area. Kieran, thanks again for everything. We had a chance to meet someone on our way out as we was gone for most of the day. Lovely to meet her and good luck with this little slice of heaven!

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • This place is amazing! Definitely book a place at the pub downstairs - lovely food and lovely people all round. Also great location to visit the waterfalls - we loved our impromptu weekend getaway :)

  • Exceptional place. Clean, brilliant location, and added extras from Della who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and prepared for our stay. The flat is very close to the monkey sanctuary the waterfalls. The pub below has a lovely atmosphere- (only went for drinks as there weren't any vegetarian options). Highly recommend the Curry House which does deliveries via Just Eat, as well as sgwd gwladys- a small pub/restaurant that does lovely breakfasts (inc. veggie and vegan). Overall was an absolutely lovely stay! Thanks, Della x

  • We had a lovely stay at Della's place. The location is brilliant, so close for good walks and close to some gorgeous waterfalls. The apartment was sparkling clean and had everything we needed. The weather wasn't great (storms) so we spent more time in the apartment than expected. We had a couple of questions and Della got back to me straight away with the answers. Would recommend!

  • Clean, stylish space. comfy bed and cosy.

    Chelsea2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our first impression was wow! Della's place is very immaculate and we had a very comfortable stay. It only took us 15 minutes at a leisurely pace to reach the henrhyd waterfall. We stayed for valentine's day, and loved the thoughtful touches. Great little place to stay to explore the nearby walks and waterfalls. The wifi was a little slow but we did go during a storm. We would highly recommend for anyone looking to explore the waterfalls.

  • Della's communication was fantastic - quick and informative. Great location for local walks and has a nice friendly pub below. The apartment was cean, spacious and well equipped, and a few really nice touches to make us feel welcome too. Diolch yn fawr iawn Della.

  • Had a lovely break at Michael and Helen’s beautiful cottage between Xmas and new year. Had everything we needed in the cottage with a very modern and clean finish, and the communication from Michael & Helen was great always getting straight back to us if we needed information. Beautiful walks literally on the doorstep. Fantastic waterfalls 10 min up the road are a must see! Two nice local pubs up the road (serving lovely home cooked food).

  • Fantastic cottage, perfect location. Immaculately clean, warm and full of character. Helen and Michaels communication was prompt and was very helpful as I was travelling from UAE for my sons wedding near by. They accommodated my request to arrive a bit earlier and made sure the cottage was warm with some very welcome welsh cakes to have with a cup of tea. Felt they provided a very personal service. Will definitely be staying there again!

  • Lovely cottage! Host Micheal and Helen were easy to contact and quick to reply. We took our Rottweiler Rex who loved the space and the walk along the river (though it rained a lot so couldn’t do this a lot). Very clean and tidy.

The chalet is close to various attractions including Dan yr ogaf caves, the various waterfalls and the Brecon Beacons national park. There’s loads of places you can go for food too. Why not try the Ancient Briton or Abercrave inn for some great pub food. If you don’t want to go out for food you can make use of the kitchen in the chalet.
  • Paula’s place was incredibly clean and it had everything you need for a stay. We had a very comfortable and cosy stay. Ross and Paula were both very friendly with lots of tips about the local sights. The Welsh cakes were a welcome surprise and they were very delicious!

  • A beautiful little annex that has been recently decorated. Paula was an amazing host who provided us with lovely Welsh cakes on arrival and a batch of eggs fresh from their chickens! The place was very warm and has everything you need for a stay regardless of time (anything else we mightve needed I'm sure they wouldnt have minded us asking!). It's in a great location just outside of Brecon Beacons and was very very clean!

Set amongst the beautiful waterfall country, on the border of the Brecon beacons & surrounded by country fields. You are spoilt for choice with walks on the doorstep, cycle paths, waterfalls, plenty of attractions & country pubs. Our house is a lovingly renovated Edwardian property. We have two cats and a small friendly dog called Coco (kept downstairs). We are happy to give you privacy, but also available if you need assistance. A cooked breakfast is available on request for £10 per person.
The room is a generous double at the front of property. As well as a double bed, there is a also a single memory foam mattress and space for a travel cot. There is a smart TV with access to Netflix and catch up TV, a sofa & arm chair, to relax and put your feet up, watch a film & unwind. There is also a mini fridge, kettle and teas, coffee, biscuits and snacks, so you have everything you need to feel at home. We also cater for vegan and gluten free diets, please ask when booking if you require dairy free milk etc.
The house is located on a quiet street, with only a few other houses. It is a semi-detached building and to the left of the property there are fields and a country lane, leading to various walks & henryd waterfalls. We are within 20 mins of the M4 motorway and easy access to Swansea and the stunning beaches of the Gower peninsula. Rural yet close to all amenities, local shopping and cafes in Ystradgynlais town just 3 miles away. There are also many pubs and restaurants in the area. There are many local attractions nearby, including Dan yr Ogof Caves (& dinosaur park), Craig y Nos castle & country park, Wales chimp & monkey sanctuary (where you can also apply to be a keeper for the day, if you're not content just looking around). Of course you have plenty of waterfalls to visit, with henryd on our doorstep and the 8- waterfall walk. Along with many other lovely walks and cycle paths, feel free to ask us for more info, we do a lot of walking! Being on the borders of the Brecon beacons there are also many hiking opportunities for more adventurous walkers. Y Cribarth is just opposite the house, also known as the sleeping giant, as you can see a man's silhouette when approaching from Ystradgynlais. A little further a field, there is llyn y fan fach, where the myth of the lady of the lake and the herbalists of myddfai is well known. Pen y fan is a very popular hike, being the highest peak in South Wales.
  • 5 Star! Great host! Great room! Before my partner and I even stayed, Rebecca was so lovely, when planning this trip I worried about where we would eat as we are both vegan. She told me about so many places to eat and also places to visit. The area in general is very vegan friendly and the breakfast that Rebecca provided was absolutely amazing (probably one our top highlights of the stay) so she can cater to all dietary requirements. The room had everything we needed, clean and homely. If you're a animal lover she has two cats (the black one is super friendly) and a small dog. I would highly recommend whilst you're staying to have a reflexology treatment by Rebecca and have the breakfast. In terms of travel we had a car which definitely made it easier for us to see the sights, however the views from the house are pretty beautiful too. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Enjoy sitting by your own private fire pit with spectacular panoramic mountain views at any of year watching the expanse of starry skies. Plenty of space to relax and breathe...
We love our upcycled caravan cwtch, with its cherry wood ceiling & wood burning stove. We stay in it ourselves for a special treat to getaway and recharge. Lots of features are original but we have added lots of features we hope you will love, recycled, upcycled or reclaimed wherever possible. Outside you have your own area with raised fire pit and log seats to enjoy the outdoors. Below we have listed all (I think) that comes in caravan. Details: Caravan contains double bed with warm bedding and cushions and rug. Table and chairs and ample storage space. 12 volt battery provides lighting with extra candles to burn for added atmosphere. Solar powered phone charger. Wood burning stove and basket of wood that will keep you cosy throughout the coldest nights. (More available to buy if required) Cooking on single gas ring with ample gas supplied, can be used indoors or outside on the wooden frame. Plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery for two with cooking utensils, saucepan, frying pan & kettle. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and oil. Washing up bowl, water container and cool box with ice packs. Outside: Parking space right next to caravan. Private raised fire pit area for star gazing. Fresh mountain spring water tap. Set in the Breacon Beacons National Park in a beautifully stunning glacial valley with 360o mountains views. Plenty of local walks for all abilities and on the Beacons Way and easy reach of Waterfall Country. 30 minute drive to Swansea/Gower and beaches. We have two local friendly welsh pubs both serving hot meals within 5 mins walk from campsite and Criag y Nos Park with cafe and Craig y nos Castle serves food to public and welcomes dogs.. Craig-y-Nos Country Park and Castle, National Showcaves for Wales and local riding stable 10 minutes walk away. Local Spar shop 5 minute drive, 30 mins walk. Main supermarket Tesco and Asda in Ystradgynlais 15 mins drive.
  • Cwtch Caravan was exactly what we needed. A nice break surrounded by nature and countryside. It’s all really authentic, the caravan is really cosy and the log burner is easy to use and control the temperature. Using the shower was easy, the converted pig shed is perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the hosts to be genuine, helpful and kind. Nothing was to much trouble. We’d love to visit again sometime! And promise not to break anything this time! Haha Thank you all so much!

  • This is a really cosy place to stay, me and my boyfriend stayed just one night but wished it could have been longer. We had everything we needed and we were very comfortable, the wood burner kept us really warm. Caroline and Jem were really kind and made us feel really welcomed and even put some balloons and candles for my boyfriends birthday which was so lovely! They made our stay special and we had a great time - highly recommend!

  • We had a lovely weekend break in the caravan, it's the perfect place to get away from everything for a while. Jeremy met us on arrival and was very friendly and welcoming, he gave us a tour of the facilities and lots of wood for the fire! We'd highly recommend the walk up Fan Hir, along the ridge to Fan Brycheiniog and back down the valley followed by a pint or two in the Tafarn-y-Garreg pub just up the road.

    Ben2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely little place. It was very rainy during our stay, but cosy in the caravan with the fire on. Jem was very good at responding quickly when we had some questions beforehand. Was a lovely night away. Hope to be back some time with nicer weather!

  • Great pit stop

    Matthew2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect cosy caravan, the wood burning stove is amazing. I loved the layout too, being able to sit at the table and play board games or open the curtains after waking up in bed and seeing the beautiful views of the hills. It was all really clean. The bed was comfy. It was great being able to one evening cook a meal on the stove (although there are plenty of pubs nearby to eat in too). We were given a generous amount of wood to keep the fire going. The shower was powerful too. Jem was welcoming on arrival and they kindly invited us in to their home to help us find a route back after the awful flooding from Storm Dennis. All in all, a lovely little getaway to escape the real world and just take in some peace and fresh air. We look forward to coming back.

  • Kate has a great place here - it's comfortable, warm and very stylishly decorated. There are a host of great things to do round about - we'd recommend the walk to Henrhyd Falls, which is beautiful - and the house is a lovely place to hang out if you need to survive a day or two of rain too! Kate is a great host - responsive and flexible. Would most definitely recommend.

  • A perfectly quant and equipped refuge with all the amenities. A very comfortable space, exactly as shown in the pictures. And Kate was a wonderful host, offering up quick responses and accommodating our request to check in early. Travelling with a 4 month old baby can prove to be tricky but this spot made everything easy and smooth. Highly recommend!!

    Tanya2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a weekend at Kate’s place in Avercrave and we had the most wonderful time. The cottage was one of the nicest Air b&b’s we’ve ever stayed in, it’s beautifully decorated with everything you could want and need. The treats on arrival were a lovely touch. Luna (our pup) enjoyed the posh pooch treats and even tried out the plush dog bed provided. The cottage is in a great location for lots of beautiful walks, we especially enjoyed the 4 waterfalls walk. I would highly recommend this wonderful cottage to anyone wanting a quiet weekend away in the beautiful Brecon Beacons.

    Lauren2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kate was the most brilliant host. Communicated with me very quickly when I asked any questions. The cottage was beautiful, clean and had everything you needed for a wonderful stay. We loved walking and seeing the river which is 5 mins from the house. We visited the monkey sanctuary which was a 5 minute drive and is great for kids. We visited a beach on our last day which was only an hours drive. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

  • It was the best accommodation in our trip through Wales. It was very well equipped, wireless worked great, fireplace was available, house was very nicely decorated, the garden with river was an absolute highlight. The place did not have much to offer, but next door was a place with everything you need, plus the National Park is absolutely worth seeing. Can only recommend it!

When staying at Blossom Cottage you can take full advantage of the whole cottage with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath and shower. The lounge is spacious and has a wood burner to cosy up in front of. You have a private hot tub to indulge in also, which will be available to guests when requested.
On the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Blossom Cottage has the advantage of being a quiet retreat when being central to lots of activities also. Beautiful walks await you and beautiful local waterfalls. We are lucky to have The National Show Caves of Wales (Dan Yr Ogof), an outdoor pursuits centre, trekking centre and the Craig Y Nos Castle and Country Park on our doorstep. Further afield ( 30-40 mins in either direction) we have the town of Brecon hosting the wonderful Brecon Jazz annually and then also the City of Swansea and the beautiful scenes of Mumbles and the surrounding Gower. Only being a 50 minute drive to our Capital City of Cardiff, Blossom Cottage is central and makes it easy to enjoy both county living and city life!
  • Place was great - has a wood fire which works great. Place is a little dated (there is a bit of damp in places - but we only stayed in the main bedroom which is fine - may not be great for small children), but adds to the feel of the place. The living room, kitchen etc is fine. The cottage is within a small farm/zoo and is right within the Brecon Beacons. Nice restaurant/pub nearby as well as big supermarkets.

    Karan2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Loved all the animals! Great jacuzzi and wood burning stove. Beautiful location surrounded by plenty of walks.

Glanrhyd is a well-equipped ground floor self-contained flat located in the quiet Welsh village of Crynant. We are located just 6 miles from Neath and 15 miles from Swansea and surrounded by forestry. Glanrhyd is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Glanrhyd is a well-equipped flat with its own front and back doors and underfloor heating throughout. As well as a spacious bedroom and bathroom there is a large kitchen dining area. The living room is at the back of the house and includes a conservatory with views out onto the countryside and forestry. Outside the conservatory is a large raised private patio leading to steps down to the lawn and garden. Parking is plentiful on the road in front of the flat. Although the flat is not ideal for more than 2 guests, there is a put-you-up single bed available plus bedding for use at a small extra charge.
  • Lovely spacious flat, great layout, very comfortable bed , slept really well . The garden is a gem and can be enjoyed from the comfort of the open plan lounge conservatory. There were some nice fields that run behind the property great for walking the dog but the property is on a main road so caution should be taken with dogs. Nice wet room style bathroom with powerful shower. Had a great stay, thank you

Everything needed for a comfortable self-catering break is provided. garden was nice, would be exceptional at the right time of year. Bedroom adjacent to road at front, so expect some traffic noise. Geography means travel has to be a bit roundabout. Plenty of walks and beautiful countryside nearby.

  • Lovely cottage, really lovely decorated. Good communication with Kieran- helpful and friendly. Hot tub was lovely touch, as was Prosecco and breakfast which was in cottage, ready for our arrival. Steep staircase, but baby gate is installed at top of you visit with children. We would definitely come back, it’s one of the the best Airbnb which we have stayed in.

  • From the little touches that we weren’t expecting to the absolute cleanliness of the place our stay here was faultless! The building had so much character, well stocked kitchen and everything you need in a beautiful spot in Wales.

    Amy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. We had a great time and you were so welcoming. Thanks also for the very thoughtful birthday gift and card. The cottage was just as described and exactly what we were looking for. It was exceptionally clean and tidy. We couldn’t fault a thing. The hot tub was great! Easy to use and lovely views. We were offered lots of recommendations and were able to go for a short walk up the lane. Would highly recommend. We also took my 6 month old son and a high chair was set up for us ready to use and we were offered the use of a travel cot. Both very thoughtful touches. I would take a blanket or think mat for the stone floor if you’ve got very small children, however we used the rug by the fire and it was soft enough. Stairs were slightly steep but we were extra careful.

    Melanie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start?! We had an amazing 4 nights at this spectacular place (despite Storm Dennis!), it is so very beautiful and special, immaculately presented, so many thoughtful personal touches, lovely welcome pack of fizz (which we enjoyed in the hot tub watching shooting stars), great tips for things to do/where to eat, and all made even better with the fantastic woodburner and hot tub! The place is so well-equipped and very cosy: just the getaway needed!:)

    Beth2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time at the cottage. It was so lovely and private and felt so cozy. The log fire was so nice to warm up by after running to the hot tub in the cold! Beautiful views and the whole cottage as sparkling clean. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back!

    Jessie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a weekend away with the girls. Beautiful remote cottage away from any hustle and bustle - a little piece of tranquillity in Wales. Kierans mum gave us a huge list of local recommendations, we were spoilt for choice! The fireplace was truly spectacular! Kept us warm and cosy after a dip in the hot tub! Appreciated the prosecco and choccies! Would love to come back for the summer!

    Joe2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Room: I stayed in the "Pen Y Fan" room for 10 nights. It is a double bed. It a good size room with a kitchen area and en suite bathroom. The room was recently refurbished and felt 'new'. I was doing mainly hiking and was staying a long time and so the ability to cook my own food with a bit more space offered a vastly superior experience to the standard 'room above a pub' set ups. The Host: The rooms are manged by Della and her husband Chris. Della met me when I arrived and I saw Chris during the week as well. Della gave me a very warm welcome and left a thoughtful welcome pack with some tips for walking in the area. She was very responsive via text whenever I had questions. Overall the hosting was excellent. The area: Coel Bren is a quiet village just by Henrhyd waterfalls. Note that there are no facilities in Coel Bren except a Tea Room and the pub. Both are open limited hours and in particular the pub is closed several days a week so do check opening times. Both are good however and the pub seemed to the be the 'event' dinner destination of choice locally with several birthdays and renunions; this gives you a flavour of the high quality. You have other towns with more facilities very close by car (inlcuding a tesco superstore a 10 min drive away). The National Showcaves are very close as well which are worth a visit, particularly with kids. The: Location: For me, it was a perfect launch pad. I was able to get to the Brecon Beacons easily with a max c.40min drive to all the major areas. It is further west then most tourists make it and so is a bit quieter that areas to the east. Personally I much prefer this. Swansea and Merthyr Tydfil are around 40 mins away as well giving you easy access to bigger towns if you require. Conclusion: Fitted exactly what I wanted. When I visit the Brecon Beacons again I will try to stay here.
