  • Lovely cabin with great wood burning stove. Brenda gave us some good tips on where to visit and Alan helped us when a nearby road was closed. All together a great place to go for a little break in the countryside!

  • Perfect little space for a romantic getaway hot tub was a definite bonus

    Connor2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant stay! Brenda even had hot water bottles in our bed when we arrived, such a lovely touch! A perfect getaway

    Sophie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It is a very pretty little cottage with everything you need for a relaxing weekend get away! Loved it!!

    Tugce2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda has created a little cabin of calm heaven. Small gestures delight: twinkle lights; ready to light fire; comforting throw; decent coffee. I will definitely be back.

    Chris2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda's cabin has been done so beautifully and is fully equipped with everything you could need! The wood burner heats the whole place and is super cosy on the cold winter nights. The hot tub is definitely worth the hire, the stars are an amazing sight! Although I didn't meet Brenda, she kept in touch and made sure we knew that she was there if we needed her for anything, a lovely host!

    Bernadette2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing little space! I visited Brenda’s cabin to spend a weekend indoors weaving - and it was the perfect place to do so! The fire made the place so cosy (and there were hot water bottles if you were still a bit chilly in bed), a perfectly sized kitchen area, great bathroom and an amazing view from the Livingroom. To be honest, I think I spent more time birdwatching than weaving, it was such an inspiring little place. Brenda has thought of everything, and it really did feel like a home from home as soon as I stepped inside. The whole space was immaculate, and I loved all the wee touches. Brenda came and met me when I arrived and explained the fire - I had no problems during my stay but it was nice to know she was there if I needed anythjng. I suppose the only thing missing was my entry in the guestbook where I’d have written something along the lines of “I had an amazing stay and will definitely return!”. I’ll just have to come back and add my entry!

  • Fantastic stay. Spent two night and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this. Thanks again Brenda!

Situated just 5 miles from Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands and nestled into the wooded hillsides of The Braes of Glenlivet in the North East quadrant of the Cairngorms National Park. From pleasant walking right on your doorstep to fishing, cycling, skiing, canoeing, the whisky & castle trails and lots more to discover, there is something for everyone in the region. Whatever your passion you can rest assured that peace & tranquility await you here at the end of each exciting day.
COVID 19 (CORONA VIRUS) UPDATE: 23rd March 2020. Due to further restrictions imposed today, we will not be accepting bookings before 1st May 2020. If you wish to visit after that date please do book but be aware that if the situation remains the same or worsens, then your booking may have to be cancelled. Wendy & Mike offer respectful guests who share the airbnb ethos, exclusive use of our recently refurbished (October 2019) self catering chalet which sits within our cottage grounds and has its own pedestrian and vehicle access as well as off road parking. With fabulous views of the Brae and it's wooded hillsides, you can enjoy the peace of the countryside whilst being in easy reach of local amenities. Tomintoul (our nearest village) is just 8 minutes by car; there you will find pubs, a general store and post office and two restaurants. There are also two cafes, outdoor clothing & unusual gift shop and a gallery. The Whiskey Castle is a must see whether or not this is your tipple. Information on the area can be found both in the Crown Estates ranger centre & the Tomintoul Discovery Centre. Plenty of folk make this their base for up to a week as there is so much to see & do up here. Within a 90 minute drive lies the whole north east coast with it's myriad of beaches and interesting villages, the Black Isle and of course Loch Ness. If whisky is your thing then you are at the centre of tasting heaven; The Glenlivet is just 10 minutes away. Total privacy is assured. Whisky or Castles, Mountain tops or Lochs, it's all yours here at The Couples Retreat. I have been asked by previous guests to point out that there are animals around the area and that you might hear them at night. There are sheep & cows in the adjacent fields, we are also likely to have stoat, fox, vole, mice, rabbit, hare and deer in the grounds and quite close to the property. We also have owls that hoot at night (yes I'm laughing too).
Being situated on The Crowns' Glenlivet estate in The Cairngorms National Park has many benefits for the traveler, but the main reasons most people come here are the peace & quiet, stunning views and wildlife. If it is outdoor activities you crave then they are also here in abundance, visit the Glenlivet Estate or Cairngorms websites to find your passion.
  • Very clean. Located near nice village and beautiful scenery.

  • Lovely self-catering cottage with a big comfortable bed. Perfect for a couples retreat as the name suggests. Wendy greeted us when we arrived and gave us some visiting tips. Clean quiet place with a private entrance that is well lit at night. We got our food supplies at local town Tomnavoulin. Wendy 's place is well equip for self catering. Perfect location. It's a short drive to the Scalan heritage trail. We also did Carn Daimh forest trail which is about 10min drive away. Glenlivet distillery is also nearby. Definitely worth a tour if you are a whisky fan.

  • This place is 10/10 outstanding. It's a wonderful location, it's STUPID CUTE, the caravan has all sorts of weird and wonderful decorations and Katherine - we didn't meet Arthur - is lovely. Seriously, my bf and I want to live there!! We can't fault the place. Great brekkie options, great location and wonderful hosts. Stop reading this, just book it!!!! And FYI Peterhead prison museum and the Fraserburgh lighthouse museum are excellent and the Chinese - Umi - in Cruden Bay is great but doesn't do deliveries. We will definitely be looking to head back up to the Lily Pod at some point 😍

  • If you are looking for a genuine experience of Scottish country life, Janet and Rob's place is a quaint, cozy, safe place to have it. The studio is tucked back on their farm - quiet, surrounded by animals, and a beautiful place to rest, walk and get to numerous surrounding destinations. The clever little kitchen is enough to cook simple meals, with a sitting room heated by a wood burning stove. The bedroom is lovely and very comfortable - and in the deep winter, the radiator heating in it is a big plus. Rob and Janet are very friendly and accommodating. Their Aussie dog is a love (particularly if you like throwing sticks infinitum) and their brood of chickens impressively plumed and also happy. In my book, it is always a good sign when the animals are happy. I highly recommend this place.

Creel Cottage is a cosy former fisherman's cottage on three levels. Full of character, it is nestled amidst wonderful sea views and rests at the foot of grass-covered cliffs with the sea just yards away in the world famous village of Pennan.
    - Fully equipped kitchen - Dining table - Sitting room -Cable TV -DVD Player -'Sonos' music sound system -Wireless internet -1 Bathroom with shower - Master bedroom with double bed on first floor - Loft room on top floor with two single beds
Quiet and quaint village on the seafront.
  • We had a wonderful stay! Chiara leaves a booklet out including lovely little tips and tricks regarding the surroundings. Pennan is close enough to all the distilleries, if you're into it, has a stunning scenery on its own and you feel remote even though nothing's really far away. Pretty much all is as advertised. You can either watch the sea and waves for hours or do dozens of little tours along the coastline or inwards into the countryside. Rough weather didn't sour our trip and maybe someday we'll be there during the summer months which would probably knock our socks off

    David2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and quiet with no sound other than the crashing of the waves. Decoration is very warm and homely and the view from the front window out to sea is truly amazing especially when paired with a cup of tea on the couch or if you don’t mind the fresh air, a nice walk along the beach. We look forward to booking sometime in the future during the warmer months.

  • A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous town - perfect to get away from it all

    Jacques2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a great few days. The location was truelly beautiful.

    Rebecca2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This house is so lovely and in the most amazing location! Finding the house and checking in was so easy and Chiara was so quick at responding and was lovely when we got ourselves locked out woops! I would recommend this amazing place to anyone and hope to come back one day, so so nice to sit in the cosy living room and watch the amazing waves! Thanks for a lovely weekend!

    Megan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay in Chiara's cottage - it felt like a real privilege to be able to stay in an old fisherman's cottage right on the harbour. The cottage was lovely and warm all the time. The kitchen was really well stocked with all the pans/casserole dishes you could need for cooking for yourself, which was great as it looks like Pennan inn will no longer be a restaurant. We enjoyed visiting all the towns and villages around, and some of the little bays along the coast, and in particular would recommend the lighthouse museum in Fraserburgh and the antiques shop in the church in Cullen. We hope to be back to stay again sometime and have already recommended the place to family and friends!

    Rebecca2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

  • The cottage is great, lots of wee thoughtful touches. Perfect to get away for a quiet holiday!

    Ben2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • THIS! Was an incredibly beautiful, quiet place to stay. We were able to relax and spent our days exploring the property (and feeding the animals), the local area (on foot) which was rich in history and the surrounding areas by car. The sweetheart cottage was the perfect getaway for us just before our wedding. We really needed some downtime. We lay in late in bed in the mornings, sipped prosecco and warmed ourselves in the hot tub at night. We cooked much, laughed lots and loved immensely. We will definitely be back.

Braeburn Bothy is a charming, well-appointed, yet traditional Highland cottage accommodating up to 4 people and set in the heart of Royal Deeside. Just above the small village of Finzean, Braeburn Bothy is situated in one of Aberdeenshire's most picturesque and tranquil locations.
Braeburn Bothy is 24 miles from Balmoral, Scottish holiday home to the Royal Family. The Cairngorms National Park boundary is approximately 8 miles from the Bothy. There are numerous golf courses within 25 minutes' drive, including those at Banchory, Aboyne, Ballater and Stonehaven. The Lecht and Glen Shee skiing areas are within very easy reach. The area offers a huge array of walks, ranging from the gentle to mountaineer standard. Cyclists will find there are hundreds of road and mountain/trail routes available close by. Naturally, the area's reputation for country pursuits such as salmon fishing, shooting and stalking is second to none. With reasonable prior notice and depending on availability and season, all of these can be arranged for guests. The wonderful Finzean Farm Shop and café is two fields away from the Bothy. This serves delicious daytime meals and stocks everything from fresh vegetables, Finzean beef and venison to local cheeses, whisky, beer and wine. With reasonable prior notice, daytime dog-sitting can be arranged.
  • This is a property full of character in a lovely part of the world. Sadly due to exceptional circumstances we had to cut short our holiday break so did not have the opprotunity to enjoy this property to the full.

    Jim2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic relaxing break at the Bothy. It was a beautiful space to chill out in and we enjoyed every minute.

    Kara2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Eoghan's Braeburn Bothy was a safe haven after a mad week of work. Albeit, only a 45 minute drive from Aberdeen, it felt like we were in the depth of the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Imagine "The Holiday", but make it Scottish. We fell asleep to the sound of a crackling fire in the wood stove each night, ate a hearty all organic breakfast at the Finzean Farm Shop just down the road and enjoyed hours of reading and boardgames with local beers in hand. Just bliss! I didn't want to leave!

    Ellie & Mike2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 3 nights stay in Eoghan's bothy. Well prepared and warm for our arrival, set in the refreshing countryside, we loved our holiday here. Eoghan left plenty of tips and tricks for enjoying the area, and would definitely recommend finzean farm shop (short walk away) for breakfast. Wholly recommended, we would definitely book the bothy again, should we return.

    James2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and has everything you need and more. The wood burning stove makes it very cosy and it's great that it's dog friendly. This was our second trip here and I'm sure it won't be our last.

    Dale2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location to escape to and take a break. It was cosy and spotless. Will definitely be visiting again!

    Emma2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely couple of days in Eoghan's little house. It's a beautiful spot, with typically dramatic Scottish winter weather sweeping through the open glen. The house is charming; well insulated with an easy to use woodburner for extra ambience, comfortable sofas, hundreds of books on the wall and a spiral staircase up to the bedroom in the eaves. Directions, communication and information on the local area were all excellent. We hope to be back soon.

    Alex2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little home! Eoghan's place was sparkling clean and had everything we needed. Eoghan even left us some essentials- bread, butter, eggs etc. Stunning surroundings and plenty to do near by. We would definitely stay again!!

  • Laura’s cottage was a lovely home away from home. The little extras that were provided (homemade bread, bottle of Prosecco, and beers) were a fantastic surprise and made our stay that much more special. We absolutely adored sitting by the wood fire stove and enjoying the hot tub each night. The cottage was clean and cozy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Fantastic, peacefull and romantic place. Great hospitality!

    Evka2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We went to stay at Laura’s gorgeous romantic little cottage for a second time - so homely with all the amenities and extras we could want. The hot tub is amazing with great views and plenty of good walks nearby. We’ve been discussing a third visit already!

    Susannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I booked this property for a cosy weekend away and we were delighted with our time there. The hospitality on arrival was brilliant, from the prosecco, to the fresh bread and all the local tips. The facilities were great and the location and hot tub are exactly what we were looking for. We both couldn't recommend this enough and would definitely coming back in the future!

    Stephen2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Superb accommodation, host, amenities etc etc, couldn’t ask for more! We couldn’t believe all the little extras, it really made our stay extra special. We have a 10 month old baby and Laura provided everything we could possibly need. It made life that little bit more stress free! The highlight of the trip was the hot tub though, incredible. Despite the minus temperatures and howling winds outside, the covered hot tub was just glorious after a days adventuring in the beautiful surroundings. First class. Thank you Laura!

    Nyall2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely relaxing few days at this little gem of a cottage. So cozy and lots of added thoughtful surprises! The bed was so comfy and we loved the hot tub. Thanks so much Laura!

    Sophie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Laura is an amazing host, very responsive and she made us feel very welcomed. Upon arrival we were greeted with freshly baked bread and a ready outdoor hot bath tub. The cottage is a true gem with lots of little touches and amazing outdoor hot tub that is available at all time. Laura gave us a lot of helpful advices and suggested a lot of places to visit in Keith and the areas around the village. Generally, we had a really amazing stay and I definitely recommend this place for an nice and tranquil getaway! Thanks again Laura

    Anna2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic! The cottage itself has everything you need for a chilled out weekend and combined with the hot tub in the garden - you can't not enjoy yourself! Laura, as a host, was fantastic. Very quick to respond to messages and was there to greet us when we arrived. There are so many nice little touches in the cottage from the stocked fridge and snacks to the home made bread upon arrival. My wife and I have stayed in quite a few Airbnbs throughout the years and this is up there with the best experiences we've had. Highly recommend!

Award-winning Hobbit Hideaway is a unique & beautiful space designed to invoke inner peace & tranquillity. It was handcrafted with love to provide a real sense of warmth & nourishment, a welcome escape from the pressures of daily life. It has been described as being like a giant hug, a place that once you enter, you can't help but smile! We provide a welcome treat, fire-wood, cruelty-free soaps, cooking basics & a variety of fairtrade beverages.
Hobbit Hideaway is sadly closing its doors to visitors for as long as instructed, and following guidance issued today by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at a media briefing: “To our hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation – you should not be accepting visitors. Provide accommodation for your staff and make yourselves available to help essential workers and support essential services – that is all. "Scotland is a warm and welcoming country and I fervently hope it’s not too long before we are opening our arms and our countryside to visitors again – but right now our priority must be to protect people from this virus, protect our NHS and protect Scotland.” If you've ever wanted to experience living in an exquisite natural home, this is your chance. Hobbit Hideaway is a truly natural home built using locally sourced, plentiful, renewable and recycled materials including straw-bales, round-wood, stone, earth, and clay. It is furnished with a high percentage of pre-loved, re-purpose and recycled treasures. Our visitors can enjoy a low impact holiday, take reusable cups, bottles & bags on days-out, make use of our compost bins & recycling facilities, use ethically purchased, cruelty-free soaps, drink fresh Scottish spring water (as used in Speyside whisky production!) and pick their own fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables, when in season. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and accessible. If you have any special requirements we will do our best to accommodate them. Our electricity is sourced from 100% renewable energy and we provide a JVC bluetooth speaker for your music and free wifi. If you want a technology-free break, simply switch it off or ask us to remove it. Hobbit Hideaway is ideal for four people but it's deceptively spacious, so we provided two additional sleeping spaces so large families or small groups can holiday in style. Taking a low impact, stress-free break has never been easier!
Hobbit Hideaway is nestled into a peaceful valley at the foot of the spectacular Ben Rinnes in Moray, Speyside. There is a multitude of things to see and do nearby, ranging from gentle walks, adventure & wildlife parks to water & snow sports! You can play, walk, run, climb, cycle, surf, sail or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery, rugged coastline, and abundance of wild-life. There really is an experience to be had for almost everyone, including our world-famous Speyside whisky trails, festivals and so much more!
  • Fantastic place to stay, Kim has thought of everything and is an incredibly thoughtful host! We really enjoyed our stay, and can't wait to return. The Fairy Glen is also a great wee walk and has had a lot of thought put into it. Perfect place to go for peace and quiet and if you're lucky enough to get a clear night stargazing is a must.

    Amie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit hideaway is a wonderful place to say, the house is truly unique. We stayed for a few days with our dog Juno Kim made us all super welcome. Juno was free to run around and there are wonderful local walks to go on. There are so many magical touches to this house and garden you just keep noticing more and more special little touches. It’s really comfortable, and everything you need is catered for I would throughly recommend it and would love to say here again sometime.

  • Great place in a beautiful spot!

    Campbell2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit hole is the most wonderful place to stay. The attention to detail is incredible and you can feel the love that has gone into creating the space. It is such a relaxing place to be and everything has been thought of so you have all you need. My daughter loved it and we were all sad that we weren’t staying longer. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

    Tamsyn2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible venue that is suitable for all kinds of different people. Whilst it’s all about basking in natural properties and economical living, it is very luxurious. The cleanliness throughout makes it extra inviting. It is deceptively bigger than expected, you can even take yourself away for peace and quiet whilst others chat if you like. The lighting is perfect for a cosy ambience by the fire. Every bit of space is perfectly thought out. There are so many thoughtful touches, we brought games, books and food with us and we really didn’t need to as Kim considers all ages and pets! The beds are super comfy, there is everything you need here. The views are outstanding and it is very peaceful. We are just sad we couldn’t stay longer as there is so much to explore. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway to spend quality time together this is your ideal place and you could easily spend a week in the hobbit hideaway and surrounding gardens with plenty to keep you entertained and happy. We would highly recommend this place!

    Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a beautiful and unique property that has clearly been built with so much love. We stayed in the midst of a February storm and were a bit worried we'd be cold, I must admit. But the Hobbit Hideaway is as cosy as can be. Highly recommended 😊

Gairncliffe is a newly renovated cottage 20 minutes walk from the beautiful town of Ballater in Royal Deeside. Set in a secluded woodland location by the river Gairn, it comes complete with hot tub, wood burning stove, Netflix and high speed broadband.
  • I wanted somewhere special to celebrate my 50th birthday with my husband, adult children and partners -this fitted the bill perfectly! The house is a great sociable space. As we were there in early March we had the log burner going and it was so cosy. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the bathrooms fitted out beautifully-lots of hot water. The hot tub takes a while to heat in the winter but it is worth it! The location is peaceful but with easy access to Ballater and lots of lovely walks. Steve was great at communicating. I would highly recommend!

We are dog friendly too so please feel free to bring your well behaved dog along.
Bedroom has an en-suite shower room and sauna (available for an extra charge). Bedroom is accessed up 5 wooden steps. The kitchenette has a kettle, toaster, fridge, microwave and basic washing up facility (please note, there is no cooker). It also has a small table and chairs. It is a ten minutes walk into town where you can find a cash point, Co-op supermarket some cafes, shops, chip shop and Indian restaurant.
We are situated on a quiet street but are set back so have very little traffic noise. The back garden overlooks fields and hills and, if we are lucky, has the occasional red squirrel hopping through. We have access to some beautiful walks with Glen Tanar and Loch Kinnord just a short drive away. We will be happy to point you in the direction of our favourite places and have Ordnance Survey maps for guests to borrow.
  • Gail was an incredible host for an amazing space! Modern and very clean amenities! The sauna was such a perk too! Gail even woke up early to bring us an ice scraper for our car wind screen! Will definitely return!

  • The Annex is a wonderful property and Gail was a superb host, she was on hand to give any tips on activities in the area and gave a very professional walk through of the property upon arrival. We felt comfortable and at home in the Annex, which was clean and felt very spacious. The sauna was an added treat, thanks again!

  • This apartment might be the best place I have stayed on Airbnb. The space in the apartment is homey, comfortable. I have never slept in a bed with such a amazing mattress that was incredible. There is lovely green space around the building too. Angela is super friendly and kind. There was fresh bread and all the basics in the flat. I loved there was a proper coffee machine; truly felt like home away from home. I had a lovely weekend here being able to come and go as I needed. I was able to cook in the well stocked kitchen and enjoyed the quiet to chill out. I will be definitely back.

The apartment is located is in a quiet area, close to King street. It's within walking distance from the city center and the University of Aberdeen. Angela was a great host responding to my question really fast. I highly recommend this place!!! I cannot wait to stay here again the next time I visit Aberdeen.

  • Angela’s place was really comfortable and a great base in a quiet area of Aberdeen (but still close enough to walk to the centre!). Loved that breakfast and coffee was provided for basically the duration of our stay, and Angela as quick to recommend local places to eat and to respond to any queries. Would highly recommend

A spacious and bright flat in part of a traditional farm courtyard. Located on a working organic farm the Hayloft provides generous and comfortable accommodation for two in twin or double bed (sofa bed also available).
Stairs lead to a large combined living and, well equipped, kitchen area and bathroom with shower. The property has local hardwood flooring and features other locally sourced details such as paintings from local artists and blankets made out of the wool from Wark Farm sheep. The flat has attractive views over the farm and surrounding countryside. There is ample parking at the door of the property. (Note: the farm is normally centrally heated via the farms bio-fuel but the system needs repairs so heating is currently via electric heaters which heat up the place nicely as well) Enjoy the tranquility and take an easy walk on the farm, which is home to a number of traditional breeds of Scottish farm animals, such as our beautiful Belted Galloway cows and Hebridean sheep. Guests staying at the farm are able to buy Wark Farm products during their stay, should they wish to do so, including eggs and a range of fresh and cured meats such as steaks, bacon, lamb noisettes... Availability will vary, so best is to check on arrival. Wark Farm is a Royal Warrant holder and supplies the Prince of Wales with meat, testifying of its high quality. We also offer our well known delicious pies (frozen, to be baked in the oven), which depending on availability can be beef&onion, beef&cheese, lamb&prune or our vegan nutty carrot pie. Please note that the flat is self catering and being an active farm, the hosts will not always be available in person, but they can be reached via messages. There is WiFi on the farm, but occasionally the connection may be less optimal. Please note that when driving to the farm, you need to follow the sign for Wark Farm.
  • A lovely place to stay, which is well-placed for walking in the Cairngorms, etc! Laurel is a great host.

    Marc2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great wee spot if you're looking to get away from it all, but within a short drive from small towns. Very clear instructions on how to find it, lights and heating all on for our arrival, making it feel like a home from home. Very clean, and despite the central heating system not working, the Hayloft remained warm enough with electric heaters on a very cold and windy weekend. Plenty of hot water also. Great place for some time away from busy life and to explore Deeside.

    Karen2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a farm B&B and found Laurel’s place. It was great fun... two friendly dogs and an assortment of farm animals. We stayed in the hayloft and were able to cook our own meals... Laurel was very accommodating and even lent us a rucksack for hiking... I’d highly recommend a stay here!

    Leslie2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice apartment. The dogs welcome you immediately. Nice environment

    Verena2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft is a truly unique AirBnB experience. Staying on a farm may not be their cup of tea, but we had a great time here. The space is large and comfortable, with all the anticipated amenities. No TV but that was JUST FINE! WiFi was available and fast, so anyone needing a TV fix could stream to an iPad if desired. The bed was divinely comfortable and the space was very clean. We had some anxiety around finding the place but Laurel’s instructions re: using Google Maps were accurate and we found the farm using Google maps when our TomTom GPS was having difficulty. We were greeted by two very friendly dogs, one of which, by the time we had unloaded our gear was waiting with a stick ready to play fetch. We played a couple of rounds but the continuing rain unfortunately put an end to that fun. Laurel left great information about the farm and instructions on how to walk the farm and visit any area that a guest would want to visit (if they want to). We’re sorry we only had one night here, as the space was very welcoming and enjoyable.

    John2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to chill out for the weekend.

    Andy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Laurels place is lovely. Very spacious and an extremely comfortable bed. The two dogs were lovely too. Didnt have time to look around the grounds but what we did see looked very pretty.

    Jane2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel was a very kind host and also offers local products from the farm, like meat and eggs, depending on what's currently available. A perfect retreat to get some rest from the hectic everyday life and to enjoy nature!

Traditional & relaxed B&B in the 16th century Scottish tower wing of our family home. 2 bedrooms for 4 people over two floors with large bathroom and small sitting room with tv. Full breakfast included.
The castle dates from the 13th century and is full of original features but has been extensively improved for modern living! It is an excellent location for exploring the area or for business in Aberdeen or even a wedding at one of the excellent local venues. The property is about 45 minutes’ drive south of Aberdeen off the main A90. Edinburgh is 2 hours to the south. Royal Deeside is about 20 minutes away, across the Cairn O’Mount pass. Our main guest room is a bright room, overlooking parkland, on the second floor of the L-shaped tower built in 1531. It has a superking sized bed and there is plenty of storage with a wardrobe & chest of drawers. A cosy sitting room with TV is adjacent. Up a further flight of the impressive stone spiral stair is the bathroom and a further guest room, with twin beds. The bathroom, for exclusive use by guests, has a power shower and bath. All linen, towels and basic toiletries will be provided. Duvets and pillows are feather/down, but synthetic may be available. A hairdryer is available, as well as an iron & ironing board. There are tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge with ice box. White waffle weave robes can be used for the short walk between the bedrooms and bathroom. On the ground floor is a Billiard room with full sized billiard / snooker table and selection of board games which guests are welcome to use by separate arrangement. On inclement days or chilly evenings we would be happy to light a fire. A full breakfast is provided in our dining room, depending on requirements. A selection of cereals, fruit juices and yoghurt are all available, with home made bread and preserves. A simple cooked breakfast can be provided. For larger parties there are other rooms available by arrangement. Reasonable Wi-Fi is available throughout the house limited in places by the thickness of the walls!
The house is located in a tranquil and quiet rural setting midway between the villages of Fettercairn and Laurencekirk in the fertile farming area of the Howe of the Mearns. River and woodland walks are on the door step Fettercairn has an award winning distillery with visitor centre. Slightly further afield over the Cairn O'Mount road, is Royal Deeside with Balmoral Castle and other attractions. The property is not far from the coastal towns of Stonehaven, Catterline, Johnshaven and Montrose. There are superb beaches at St Cyrus. The nearest golf courses are in Edzell, Auchenblae, Montrose and Stonehaven. Carnoustie and St Andrews are within an hour’s drive. There is an abundance of walks and cycling for all abilities and interests on our doorstep. The coast to coast walk from Fort William passes through Glen Esk en route to Montrose. The area has a number of excellent hotels, restaurants and coffee shops for eating out.
  • Such a fantastic weekend away in a Castle! Hosts went above and beyond to ensure the stay was wonderful. Loved the tour of the castle, our room, a great breakfast both continental and cooked. Made good use of the games room and enjoyed coming back to a fire of an evening. Hosts were easy to talk to, and quick responses through airbnb when I messaged. I can imagine it would be so beautiful in the summer time and hope we can return so we can get out in the gardens.

Located in the beautiful quiet seaside village of Pennan near Fraserburgh Aberdeenshire. Which has had a little fame with being the location of 1983 movie Local Hero. Positioned close to great views, the beach, harbor, a nice restaurant/pub and close to many golf courses. You’ll love our place because of the light, the comfy bed, the fireplace, the cosiness and the stunning location.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and your furry friends.
    - Fully equipped kitchen - Television - DVD/Blu ray player - Free WiFi - log burner in lounge - Bathroom with walk in shower - Master bedroom with double bed - Attic room with double bed - Oil filled radiators in bedrooms and bathroom - Far infra-red heating in lounge
Pennan is a quaint 18th century fishing village with a small harbour and spectacular coastline, famous as the setting of the 1983 film "Local Hero” where the infamous red telephone box is a draw for many a tourist. Pennan is approximately 40 miles north of Aberdeen. The fantastic location makes this an ideal base to explore the Banffshire coast. There is a hotel in the village with shops, amenities and sporting facilities at nearby towns such as Fraserburgh, Macduff and Banff.
  • Lovely little town on the coast! Cottage is nice and the stove made it cosy!

  • Pennan is a special place

    Elizabeth2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. Pennan is beautiful and lots to see in the area. Could easily have spent a week exploring. Take matches, kindling and firelighters for the stove, as well as logs.

  • Great little cottage with everything you need. We had a nice relaxing stay and the log burner kept us very cosy. Hosts are fantastic and easy to deal with, more than happy to provide tips and recommendations on places to visit. Pennan is beautiful and I would highly recommend a stay at Spindrift Cottage.

    Debs2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at Spindrift several times now while visiting family. It never fails our expectations. The cottage is lovely, and the stove makes it so cosy and homely. Andrea and Robert are always very thoughtful and this time we were visiting to meet my new nephew and they left a lovely gift for my sister. Would have no doubt about recommending Spindrift and staying again. My family and I love "the beach house".

    Perry2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is out 3rd stay at Spindrift and our 'go to' location for visiting family. We stayed for a week this time and had an amazing stay. Pennan is magical and the kids and dogs love it. Spindrift is super clean with all the amenities you would expect as well as some extra lovely touches. Andrea left some crafty things for the kids and a box of chocolates for the big kids. A lovely extra surprise for the start of our holiday that the kids were delighted with and a lovely extra touch. Beds are clean and comfortable and shower room and kitchen well equipped. We were able to make 2 pots of soup and 2 batches of scones during our trip. The fire in the living space is wonderful and amazing to watch on a cold evening. We will definitely be back again.

The Gateway to the Highlands. The neighbourhood is rural. The apartment is on the outer edge of a small hamlet of 4 steadings none of which look onto us. We share a drive for access purposes only. The apartment is surrounded by trees and we often see red squirrel and deer. Sometimes a fox might saunter by looking for the rabbits! The private hot tub which is used solely for guests who hire it and us separately nestles under the trees. On our doorstep are some beautiful forest walks. The beaches start at Aberdeen and extend northwards to Balmedie which has family BBQ pits for use free of charge then on to Newburgh and the nature reserve with seal colony having literally hundreds of seals basking on the edges of the Ythan. So many pubs, restaurants and shopping facilities in the City of Aberdeen you wont get bored. There is the harbour too with its heavy emphasis on the oil industry and large ships as a result. Inverness less than 100 miles away with on route Johnstones of Elgin for cashmere and Baxters foods with famous freshly cooked pancakes. Glasgow and Edinburgh a couple of hours on the train, a bit longer by road. So much to do and see. So many variations of terrain around this area which in turn attract dolphins which are often seen around and about. • The pictures don't do justice to how great Lara's place is. The space is great for a group, and all the rooms were excellent. Lara was very responsive and the information on arrival was very helpful. Would 100% stay again!

  • Great weekend away with some friends. Everything you need, lovely place complete with hot tub, comfortable beds and cosy wood burning stoves. Lara was very helpful allowing us to check in early and check out late. Thanks!

    John2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lara was a superb host. Everything was straight forward and easy. Nice touches like a welcome basket and prepared fires in the stoves just made that special difference. Perfect getaway for family and/or friends in a great spot for exploring the cairngorms. Whatever the reason you’ll love the accommodation, warm friendly and welcoming! Can’t recommend enough :)

    Chris2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding stay! With 3 adults and 2 kids, we had more room than we could dream of - the house is even more spacious than the pictures convey. Beautiful decor, so comfortable, cozy and warm, and the hot tub is heaven. The nearby Landmark Adventure centre is amazing for kids (and adults!) Woke up to a red squirrel eating an apple right outside the window. Can’t wait to come back xxx

    Kate2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This wonderful house on the riverbank at the edge of the village has a very good layout for families, is very well equipped and has a cosy, comfortable atmosphere. We enjoyed the generous facilities with our family of 10. Renting this house is an exceptional opportunity. Bart

  • This is an amazing house - stylish, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The hot tub was much appreciated as were the welcome provisions. It really is a house for all seasons and perfectly located in the Abernethy Forest - a really fantastic environment. Many thanks, Lara.

  • Truly unique location and accommodation, Jack was a great host. Perfect getaway to escape to!

  • a somewhat rootsy but very warm cabin in a magnificent environment. A welcoming host. Great stay!

    Nicole2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jack’s bothy was just what me and my partner were looking for. It was quiet with beautiful views and Jack was warm and welcoming with good local tips and help on getting around. The bothy is centred around a lovely fire and has all that you need. The toilet and shower were around in the main house but this was not a problem. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away and have a quiet and peaceful experience in the Cairngorms.

    Freya2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jack was a thoughtful man went for a walk with us full of knowledge about the area. The Bothy is wonderful. Right in front of a forest on a hill and a great view of the sunset and snowy mountains. Gave us the wood to keep our stove steadily going through the cold nights and mornings. I just want to thank him for the privacy and calmness of my experience. It is a great place to see the mountains and the stars. Please bring your own towels, tooth paste and slippers maybe even extra sleeping bag it can get cold in winter. Also we bought all our stuff beforehand but there is a spar down the road 5 minutes walk. Has most things you need. Thank you Jack.

    Cristian2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at the bothy! Jack was an excellent host. He provided plenty of logs so the bothy was super cosy even though it snowed while I was there! I also brought a hot water bottle and some extra blanket although it turned out there were spare blankets already provided. The separate bathroom and shower are modern and sparkling clean. The Steading Bar is very close, has beautiful decor, tasty snacks and the best hot choc! Also within walking distance is a Thai massage at Pla’s house. Also the best massage I’ve had. Beautiful rural location - perfect get away to chill out and take a break from the busyness of life!

    Laura2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jack lit a fire to welcome us and the place was lovely and cozy

    Zita2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great time at Jack's bothy. Jack is a really great host and the bothy was really nice and cozy especially due to the oven. The nature around the hut is amazing, so we were able to do lots of walks and hikes. We just spent one week in the bothy and in the end neither of us wanted to leave.

  • Amazing, social space for a big gathering. We comfortably had 8 adults and 1 toddler and the big kitchen/dining/living space made our family weekend away really special as we could all be together. Hot tub and it’s view was a bonus! If you’re into good coffee, Spider on a Bicycle in Aboyne is great!

    Andrew2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a weekend at The Hideaway (4 adults, 4 children and 2 toddlers). The house was extremely spacious and perfect for a large group. Living, kitchen, dining area were all open plan and very well designed. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and more. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and the kids den area was a hit. We planned on seeing the local area but we couldn't bring ourselves to leave the beautiful house so we stayed in and relaxed and watched movies all weekend. The hot tub overlooks a picturesque landscape and kept the kids and adults happy for hours. The hosts were happy to answer any questions and when we had one small issue, it was sorted out immediately. Really pleased with the property and customer care. Thanks again.

This 18th century cottage sits atop this stunning coastal peninsular that once formed the thriving fishing community of Old Castle Slains. Nestled in the shadow of the 13th century castle ruin this is the seascape-lovers paradise.
The cottage adjoins our house but has its own private entrance and garden area. It comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a small self-catering kitchenette (complete with a 2-ring cooker/mini oven, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, dishes, pans, cutlery, cooking utensils, etc.). There is also a washing-machine and dryer. There is a breakfast bar nook, but please note that there is no separate dining-room or lounge. The sea views on all sides are stunning! Puffins nest on Blind Man's Rock just off the peninsula and are clearly visible in the spring and summer. This is a bird/nature/sea-lovers paradise, and also a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Old Castle Slains sits on a remote and stunning cliff top peninsula about 35 minutes north of the city of Aberdeen. Surrounded by sea on three sides, our house is built on the grounds of the 15th century ruined Castle, the ancestral seat of the Hay family, the Earls of Erroll. With its own beach, and Blind Man's Rock just behind the house to which puffins flock to nest and raise their young each year, this Site of Special Scientific Interest is breath taking. The surrounding area with its rugged cliffs and secluded bays offers days of hiking, exploring, wild swimming, birding and ocean kayaking.
  • Perfect spot for amazing photos of the Scottish coastline. It has a perfect little private beach that is accessible close to the cottage. The views are better than pictures could ever provide. Vishnu was so kind and welcoming and very easy to communicate with. We will be back!

    Karina &Amp; Ewan2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could give more than five stars for the locations. Like it was amazing. A little scary to drive to in the pitch black night but amazing. The hosts were fantastic, provided us with history books on the area, and didn’t seem to mind that we arrive fairly late. The place is old and quirky. My sister and I got a fright the first time we flushed the old Victorian toilet and it was like a water. We were worried we were going to flood the house. We didn’t. It was fun. The one suggestion I have for fellow people staying here is that if you need a nice big pillow to sleep with bring your own. I had to fold mine to get to the proper height for my head. But that is just a comment. I can’t tell you how amazing the place is.

    Rachel2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was truly amazing. Excellent hosts, amazing view and location. Perfect coastal Scotland experience.

  • Ruby house was a golden find! Our host has done a brilliant job of kitting out the house with everything you need for a stay. The couches were extremely comfortable as were the beds. It should be noted that the beds are actually both XL double beds which can be split into twin rooms as before arrival we had thought one couple would have to sleep in a twin room - This was obviously a bonus! The hot tub was very clean and we wanted for nothing. Our host Marie lives next door however we never saw her and we never felt our privacy was compromised. She was even so kind as to lend us an onion when we forgot one for our Spaghetti Bolognese. It is only a five minute walk to Newmachar where there are two pubs. The accommodation was very clean. We would definitely book again!

    Gemma2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is lovely, Marie added a number of nice touches including a number of welcome items (e.g. milk, orange juice, cereals, tea, eggs, bread, butter etc) that make an Airbnb stay great and meant we didn’t need to go straight to a shop on arrival. The hot tub is amazing, the bed is comfortable and spacious and the lounge chairs / sofa are very cosy. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this Airbnb to anyone. Marie also provided a number of recommends on things to do / places to visit that was helpful.

    Mathew2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and sparkling clean. We got a wee bit lost on the way there and Marie was a quick to respond and help. Every kitchen amenity you could think of was there too. Excellent hot tub too 🙌🏻

Wild Farm Cottage is situated on the beautiful Glenlivet Estate in the Cairngorms National Park. Only three miles north of Tomintoul, the location of the cottage is both exclusive and remote with a hot tub, sauna and plunge pool included.
Whether you want to watch local wildlife, be energetic around the local Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trails, fish in the nearby lochan or just relax in the hot tub and sauna, Wild Farm Cottage is the perfect location. There is plenty to see and do in the area. 'A wonderful haven' - Tony, Andrea, Izzy and Sophie, Oct 2015 'A perfect place to relax and unwind' - Lesley and Helen, Sept 2015 'One of the best views in the whole of Scotland' - Jon, Kirstie and Evie, August 2015 'A stunningly beautiful place and a great place to experience nature' - Greg and Paul, July 2015
The closest village is Tomintoul which is three miles away. It has a good pub but you may wish to do your grocery shopping in a bigger town (Aviemore or Grantown) before your arrival. The remote site of the cottage is great for wildlife, including roe deer, red deer, brown hares, pine marten, wild cat ( very shy ), rabbits, buzzards, osprey fishing in summer, kestrel, hen harrier, tawny owl, barn owl, short eared owl, raven, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, chaffinches and many more.
  • Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting.

    Fern2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage with beautiful views. We stayed 10 nights for our honeymoon. The hot tub and sauna were very relaxing and we really enjoyed the games room too. Most of all we loved the wildlife around the cottage. So many deer and birds, we were entertained for hours. Tilly was very helpful and even came and refreshed the hot tub water for us during our stay. I also got the chance to read 2 of her books about reindeer which were very interesting. I'm sure we will be returning soon!

    Rebekah2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great place. In a remote valley. We had it for my husbands 30th birthday and it was perfect. A cozy house, great walking possibilities and lets not forget the very well maintained hot tub. Thanks a lot again!

    Helena&Lasse2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place looked amazing from the pictures but they still couldn't do justice to how beautiful and private the property was or the incredible experience of watching the deer graze right in front of us all evening. Tilly was incredibly gracious and we really enjoyed our "off the grid" yet comfortable experience.

    Chad2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage experience is somewhat difficult to accurately describe, because it is so beautiful & unique. The setting is bucolic, serene & one of a kind. The deer running past through the pastures in front & behind the cottage are breathtaking. Watching the stars at night while sitting in the hot tub is a sheer indulgence & unique experience. • Fantastic, peaceful weekend for our family. Beautiful views. Wonderful welcome from our host Tilly. Hot tub, sauna and plunge pool an added bonus!

  • Staying at the cottage was an absolutely magical experience. We loved the view, the coziness of the space, the hot tub under the stars,... all of it. I would definitely stay here again

  • Tilly was our host for our short stay at Wild Farm. Communication with Tilly was excellent and she kindly met us at Tomintoul so we could follow her to the house. Upon arrival Tilly was very thorough, going through all the instructions in terms of the facilities and the power to the house which we had no issues with after she left us to it. The hot tub was a feature we particularly enjoyed, especially in the evenings. We wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area further as we had a wonderful relaxed time at the farm and would definitely return.
