Places to stay in Addison County
The sky dome floods the yurt with natural light. Bird songs drift in through the screened windows. Wooded trails outside your door. Close to town yet private. Fire pit for sitting out under the stars. double sized bed in loft with memory foam topper makes it very comfy. This is a rustic yet elegant stay. Cooled by fans and heated by wood pellet stove. It is not a good fit for very young children due to the stairs, hot wood stove and rough lumber flooring.
Songbird Sangha is a unique place which has been thoughtfully placed amongst the trees. It's unique design gives you a spaceous and airy feel of being outdoors. The sounds of the birds , peepers and owl's, drift in through the screens. Moonlight streams in through the dome or you can look at the stars while laying in bed. It is heavenly for lover's of the outdoors.
We cannot see other houses from our property. It is quiet, has lovely views and privacy. The village has a book store, several bakery's, art gallery, jewelry store, brewery/bistro, pizza, concerts on the green, farmer's market, hiking and more.
  • The place is incredibly beautiful, very clean, and has everything you need. And Ellen is a wonderful host!

  • Great stay in this fabulous yurt! Super cozy and clean.

  • This yurt is the coolest place I ever stayed. It is gorgeous and has everything you need. It has a full amazing kitchen that is better than most apartments have! The sky roof is the best part. Great romantic getaway.

    Zoë2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt was amazing and just what we had been looking for to get away! It was well stocked and we loved all the little touches. While we were there we enjoyed a thunderstorm from under the dome and it was awesome! Stay here, you won’t regret it!

    Jennifer2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely everything about our stay at Ellen and Jay’s yurt was wonderful. We were expecting it to be cute and fun but it far exceeded all our expectations. It’s incredibly comfortable and cosy, charming and romantic. We had our coffee outside on sunny mornings and enjoyed the warmth of the stove and sound of the rain on the yurt on the couple of rainy evenings we had while enjoying home cooked dinners. Have I mentioned falling asleep under the stars and waking up to the birds, the horses, the views, the peace? This is a truly magical place.

    Geraldine2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen and Jay were perfect hosts and their yurt provided a comfortable and cozy space for our stay. We would not hesitate to return. Lovely private setting.

    Lester2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely peaceful no fuss place to stay. The bed was comfortable and downstairs was perfect, there is no microwave so bring food that you can only cook on the stove or toaster oven. Alexa was a good addition to the yurt. We loved having a fire in the fire pit at night then moved into the yurt at night then enjoyed the pellet stove.

    Joanna2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the yurt was so serene. What a great space Ellen has created, with all the amenities needed to be cozy and comfortable! The animals were a sweet bonus. Ellen and Jay are great people. We would love to return and spend more time checking out Ellen's suggestions. We got some great food at Snaps in Bristol and also stopped at the local market to get ingredients to cook dinner in the yurt too. (Be patient using the pellet stove, it takes a few minutes to get ignited.)

  • We loved our stay! It was so peaceful and a perfect getaway.

  • Truly beautiful, cozy loft apartment. Breathtaking windows looking out to the mountains. Christine and John have a lovely home and were very accommodating. Their directions from the town center are clear - there are dirt roads. In general, we do not recommend driving from 89 up through the Green Mountain National Forest, at night, in the winter, like we did (live and learn and we made it out completely fine!). AWD/4WD vehicle is recommended. The space is incredible! Very well designed, couches to curl up on, and a great selection of tea. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful and the heated floors were a nice touch. We were very comfortable during our quick respite in the mountains. I could not get enough of that view and my boyfriend loved the sunshine in the morning. Loved talking with John and saying hello to their sweet dog Nellie. We want to stay here again in the summer to explore all that the Green Mountains have to offer!! Highly recommend Bobcat Café and the Recycled Reading of Vermont shop (books, art supplies, musical instruments, and more!). Middlebury is also fun to walk through - we enjoyed the Vermont’s Own Products shop there! Overall a real gem. We couldn’t believe our luck in finding this rental and we heartily recommend it.

    Brynn2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous barn with high end amenities. Be warned if you are booking in the winter, it's about a 40-50 minute drive to Sugarbush Resort, as the Lincoln Gap Road is closed in the winters. Very secluded and private.

    Jordan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Christine is a straightforward host with only a few simple rules. The space is tucked away in a beautiful location. Plenty of room to hang out and get your rest. We had a great stay and will certainly look to book with her again.

    Kara2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing gem tucked away in rural VT. I stayed at the end of a warm spell and the beginning of an arctic blast. 10+/- Inches of snow and wet ground that froze underneath. Come with AWD if you are visiting in winter. Christine pointed out the best hikes and snowshoeing opportunities, the latter of which I commenced from out the front door and on snowshoes provided by Christine. Highly and unreservedly recommend it. Hope to return in summer and again in winter!

    Marcus2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! Great location and comfortable place.

    Shaqed2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was incredibly welcoming and the space was simply amazing. The view from the spacious and beautiful room was absolutely breathtaking. It was like waking up in an enchanted forest each morning with views of snow falling over Mt Abraham. With the lovely town of Bristol only 15 minutes away (we loved the Bristol Cliffs Cafe) where you can find everything you need to enjoy a romantic dinner back at the Barn. We would both love to return for another visit. Thank you Christine!!

    Emily2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was amazing in every aspect. The barn is very comfy and charming with unique details. We loved our stay and hope to come back soon. Above expectations!!!

  • This was our first experience with air bnb and it was wonderful. Ellen’s home is cozy and relaxing. Very clean. Ellen and Jay where very helpful with suggestions of sites to see. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Looking forward to going back in the spring.

    Derick2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Guests at Ellen & Jay can expect sunsets & solitude, that is great views of starry skies and mountains, quietness while walking their trails or relaxing with a book by the wood stove. Our hosts were present to our needs, although very respectful of our privacy. Highly recommended.

  • We had a great stay in the Barn. Peaceful setting, great clean space, with some solid VT charm! Easy access to both Burlington and Stowe.

    Dan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay with fantastic hosts. The barn is a fantastic place to stay and change things compared to our usual hotel stays. Everything was clean and the amenities were fantastic. Since we are not of the area we asked to know if there was a particular place they could recommend to eat and Barry recommended us to the Public house. Great restaurant and great recommendation from our host. The whole experience is to be repeated for sure.

    Jonathan2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This barn is everything it’s advertised to be! My friends and I drove up from Massachusetts for a concert and only stayed in the barn for one night but we wished we could’ve stayed longer!

    Rachel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a beautiful peaceful place to stay

    Jennifer2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The entire place smelled amazing, like cedar we think, and everything was incredibly clean! The linens were super soft, the bed and sofa were comfortable enough, and we had everything we needed! The only thing that would have been helpful for us was a slightly larger mini fridge, but all of the decor and furniture worked together so well, we couldn’t even be disappointed! A perfect place to hide away for a while!

    Alanna2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, super fun and clean. Peaceful and very close to Burlington! It was perfect!

    Jessica2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I had a great get away at The Barn. It was just what we needed to ski for a few days. It was easy to find, super clean and so cozy. We both felt like we found a peaceful retreat to rest in for a few days (while skiing all day). I would stay there again any time!

    Heather2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Barry and Jenny's barn loft was so cozy and had beautiful views. The space was extremely clean and had everything you could need. The barn loft is located conveniently near Burlington to enjoy shopping and waterfront views. Barry and Jenny (and Buddy!) are welcoming and warm. We cant wait to return in the summer months.

It's ski season! So many choices 30-60 min. away. No matter what your pleasure, you'll find it near our 500 sq ft, 420 friendly Vermont Cozy Hollow, owned by a local artist. High pine ceilings add country charm, separate, but part of the main house with insulated locking doors separating the two. The very soundproof bedroom offers a pillow-top queen bed, room darkening shades, and white noise machine. Enjoy the lovely view of trees, gardens & sunsets from the suite or relaxing in the hot tub.
This newly renovated, 500 sq. ft. 420 friendly private suite, with private entrance, offers a 40" TV, gas fireplace, mini fridge/freezer, microwave, electric tea kettle, coffee maker, a 2 person swing, croquet set, or you can play a short game of golf. A special part of our amenities is our homemade, all natural soap by our company Luminouscents.
In the winter, enjoy many ski areas 30-60 mins away for both cross country and downhill skiing! Or head north into Burlington only 30 short minutes away. There you will find The Flynn Center for arts and events, bars, and the beautiful Church Street Marketplace with cobblestone streets and eclectic shops and eateries. Middlebury is 30 minutes south and on the way, in New Haven, stop in to Lincoln Peak Winery or visit The Waybury Inn for brunch or dinner. Bristol is 15 minutes southeast where one can swim in Bartlett Falls in the hot summer months amongst waterfalls and giant rocks, eat at the Bobcat Café, Snaps or Cubbers - and be sure to visit Mary's Restaurant for a real treat. Vergennes is our smallest city and is 15 minutes south from Monkton where one can find a delicious meal at the Antidote or the Black Sheep Bistro.
  • We had a great time! Everything was perfect. The check in was easy. The suite was well decorated and very clean. We did not want to leave. The whole trip I kept thinking about how much better this is than a hotel.

    Lisa2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, great setting, great people. The owners also life in the in the home (other side, not with you) so you get the personal touch of people who care. A definite do-again.

  • We found every thing pristine ,when we opened the door we said wow! It lives up to its name ,as Cozy Hollow. Kesta and Mark are truly Super host!

    Samuel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mark & Kesta’s place was phenomenal!!! Cute space perfect for mine and my fiancé’s anniversary getaway! Everything was spotless and perfect no complaints at all and definitely will be coming back!

    Alyssa2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Kesta are incredible hosts! Definitely would recommend to anyone to book your stay at Cozy Hollow! They have everything that you can possibly think of and more! The hot tub was the cherry on top to an incredible Valentines Day weekend.

    Gare2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mark & Kesta’s place is such a beautiful spot. They are perfectly centralized to so many great locations in Vermont, and they are only about 20-30 minutes from all of them. They went above and beyond making sure to clear the snow when we came. They are extremely friendly and thoughtful. You won’t regret staying here.

    Regan2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mark & Kesta’s place was perfect! Really cozy and exactly as listed. They were very responsive and gave us lots of good tips for experiencing the area. Would definitely recommend.

    Lane2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Kesta’s place was lovely. The space was better than described/pictured - it’s obvious a lot of time, care, and creativity went into making the suite what it is today. We appreciated all of the little touches - from the artwork to the popcorn maker, French press, and bottled of water waiting for us when we got in. All of their instructions were super clear, and the notes around the suite were helpful as well. Mark and Kesta provided a bunch of great recommendations for our trip (snowshoeing at Sleepy Hollow, breakfast at Parkside, etc). And to top it all off, the hot tub was AMAZING (especially after a long cold day outside). Mark and Kesta were extremely accommodating and responsive. They made us feel very welcome and our only regret was not booking a longer stay! We’ve already recommended this space to a bunch of our friends, and we will be back in the spring once the weather is a bit warmer!

Located at the junction of the Green Mountains and the Champlain Valley, this quiet space sits on 70 forested acres. A quick drive to Brandon, Middlebury College, Lake Dunmore, and the Green Mountain National Forest, this is the perfect home base. Enjoy nature in this secluded space and discover what Addison County has to offer from an easy to access location. Explore nearby lakes and plenty of trails, and events and culture are just down the road.
Spring and summer in Vermont are truly glorious. The cabin was built as a hunting camp by a logging firm that harvested timber here. We have built our home on the property and updated the cabin with plenty of amenities. The cabin is a nice balance of rustic, cozy, and comfortable, and we take pride in the beauty of this place.
Plenty to do nearby! Rutland and Middlebury Farmers' Markets, Wood's Garden Market, Champlain and Douglas Orchards, Falls of Lana, Silver Lake, Branbury State Park, Goshen Dam, shops and restaurants in Middlebury and Brandon, Rutland's Paramount Theater, Cattails Restaurant, Texas Falls, Route 100 Scenic Highway, Mount Independence Historic Site and Fort Ticonderoga, rivers and mountains galore! Still a working forest, the property is home to a plethora of wildlife, hosting two beaver dams and a designated deer wintering area. There are some trails here on the property, and plenty of outdoor space for you to enjoy. Enjoy colorful sunsets as herons, ducks, and geese fly in for the evening, or spend the evening out in the cultural centers of Brandon or Middlebury. Bring, rent or borrow a boat and spend the day at nearby Lake Dunmore, Fern Lake, or Sugar Hill Reservoir; make the stunning 1 hour drive up to Burlington for the day for cool shops and great restaurants; or pick fresh Vermont fruits and berries with views of Lake Champlain. The Moosalamoo Recreation area is right in our backyard. There is so much to do around here, you may not want to leave!
  • We had the most wonderful time at the cabin! Mark and Catie are fantastic hosts who gave us really great directions for finding them, which we did easily. The location is incredibly peaceful, and we loved seeing the chickens outside the cabin! The cabin is so cosy and sparkling clean, the beds were super comfortable and the kitchen had all the facilities we needed to cook a lovely dinner. The fireplace made the cabin very warm and relaxing too. We really enjoyed the fresh eggs for breakfast, and the maple syrup left in the kitchen for us was delicious. I couldn’t rate our stay more highly - I would return in a heartbeat!

    Anna2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was cozy and clean and near a lot of great hiking trails. The hosts left plenty of information about stuff to do locally and were very helpful!

    Tammy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and cozy cabin on a beautiful little farm. Perfect for a quintessential New England getaway. Mark and Catie were super hospitable and friendly, we can’t wait to return for another trip!

    Hayley2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect cabin in the woods. It was our first time using the grill and we had no idea what we were doing, but our lovely hosts helped us get the fire going. Chicken came out great btw. Beautiful clean kitchen, spotless bathroom, trendy and homey feeling. The bed was soooo comfortable. Super clean, super private and quiet. Best sleep we've had in a LONG time. They also provided us with a list of places to see and do nearby. Loved this place, will come back!

    Tania2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend. Mark and Catie are exceptional hosts and quick to respond. My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at the cabin during our ski trip. The fresh eggs and nice touches within the cabin were fantastic. We can’t wait to visit again soon. Must stay cabin!

    Robert2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our second stay and it was just as great as the first time! This time we had time to walk the trails and visit Mark in his sugarhouse. The thoughtful touches such as the eggs and syrup were much appreciated. We can’t wait to plan our next getaway!

Make sure to check out our other treehouse!
From the treehouse platform you can sit, relax and watch the beavers in their pond below or just cozy up inside the treehouse or go be adventurous in the forest.
Our neighbors include the Green Mountain National Forest and the river! But we do have local places and fun things to do from hiking trails to skiing at Killington and Sugarbush resorts, fishing and hunting in the local areas, art and food in nearby Rochester, and breweries in Middlebury!
  • My girlfriend and I love adventuring and this was definitely a good one. The treehouse was as described: small, cute, cozy and warm. We thought the bed was really comfortable with plenty of blankets to keep us warm (not like we needed that many as there is a propane heater we were able adjust as needed). Derek is really easy to communicate with and was very hospitable. He knew I wanted to make a small fire in the fire-pit and brought us a hatchet, wood and pizza box! Small touches made a huge difference. And there were cookies to greet us. Overall, if you're looking for nice getaway with a cool experience, feel easy about booking here. Hour and 15 minute drive to Burlington, 30 minutes to Middlebury. Have fun!

    Shaheen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal cabin to disconnect from a weekend! Derek is listening to us and always there for our needs. They even let us take a shower at his place. I will come back in the summer to see all the flora and fauna it hides under the snow.

    Lucas2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fun adventure, unplugged and in the trees!

    Colleen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Dereks treehouse was great, Derek met us upon arrival and showed us all the details and answered any questions we had. It was very clean, and close to great food and areas for activities. We will surely be back to stay again.

    Tyler2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem and being amongst the trees like this is a real treat. Hosts are exceptional and really care about the trees and their land, Derek’s craftsmanship really shows and Jammie is exceptionally talented if you are lucky enough to be able to book a massage with her. My January stay at the Beaver Treehouse was chilly outside but warm and cozy inside. Winter stays definitely require a spirit of adventure, and be prepared to be confined to the indoors where the only furniture is a large bed but the books on trees and wilderness and games are a great way to pass the time! And the outhouse view is exceptional!

    Ashley2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Derek's treehouse was excellent. Exactly as described plus the benefit of a great host.

    Timothy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house was really fun, we stayed there in the winter and my wife was a little worried about being cold but the heater in there did it’s job, it rained most of the night and sounded really cool on the roof. One of the best nights sleeps I have ever had so relaxing thanks Derek.

    David2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is just as described and is very simple and quaint! My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay and wish we could’ve stayed longer. Derek was great communicating from the very beginning and was so helpful and thorough about everything when we arrived. We stopped at a nice bakery on our way to grab something to eat quick before we got there called Sandy’s which Derek had recommended. The lady who was working knew Derek and his wife and assured us we were going to have a nice time and they were great people. We really enjoyed everything and will definitely be back soon for a longer stay!

Welcome to The Barn at Grousewood. During these unique times, we are happy to provide an escape to the woods to relax or work in isolation and to decompress. We are following the CDC cleaning guidelines to ensure the safest environment we can for our guests. Located 35 minutes from Burlington, 30 minutes from Middlebury. We have great hiking trails for exploring the woods full of wildlife. Enjoy a fire outside or read and relax in front of the hearth. A private and peaceful retreat.
We have a kitchenette if you want to cook. Looking for things to do? We are proud to boast that Vermont has the most breweries per capita and is home to one of the largest cideries in the US, Woodchuck Cider located in Middlebury. We also have some great local distilleries and even a few vineyards that remain open in the winter for tastings. If skiing or riding is in your plans, we are anywhere from a 40 to 75 minute drive from such great places as SugarBush, Bolton Valley, Mad River, Stowe, Killington, Pico or the Middlebury College Snowbowl. Visit Bristol, Middlebury or Vergennes for unique Vermont gifts and local art. The barn is a perfect get away. Come and enjoy all that quiet country living in Vermont has to offer.
We live on a dirt road. If you are visiting us in the winter, it would be important for you to have an all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle, or good snow tires to get up our driveway.
  • This place was amazing. The space was perfect and so many things to do but sitting by the fire was preferred. Everything you need to make meals, play games and enjoy yourself is there. Highly recommend. The place had so many cute touches!!

    Amy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable! So many personal touches to the space and outstanding hospitality. Their dog Murphy was a gem.

    Abbie2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent spot for a getaway in the mountains. Kris and Brian thought of everything! The place was clean, and communication was easy. We loved having Murphy greet us, and he got along well with our dog, Daisy. Remember to read through instructions before you arrive though— cell service is spotty when you are in the area.

    Savannah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, Grousewood barn is the place to go! We returned for a second stay and brought along our dog! They had a special little doggie bag waiting for her with some treats and a ball! It was a sweet welcome gesture. Kris and Brian’s place is perfect for a cozy trip to unwind and is close to some breweries and delicious restaurants! We enjoyed a day of snowshoeing on their property trails along with their super friendly dog, Murphy! We’ll be returning again and look forward it!

    Michelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little couples getaway! Neat, clean and cozy with funky New England decor. If you're looking for a little taste of VT, you'll find it here. We only wish we could have taken advantage of the outdoor fire pit and Adirondack chairs, but.... we were there in February for Valentine's Day. It was 8 degrees F below zero that night. The Barn is across the driveway from the house, but all windows face away from the house so you do have privacy, and the windows have nice shades. Never met our hosts. They respected out privacy. We did meet Murphy the next morning, and he was very friendly and well behaved. Word of of warning if you visit in winter: the gas fireplace heats the main space well, but the floor remains cold and the bathroom a bit chilly even with the door left open. So bring your woolly socks and slippers, and let your partner warm the toilet seat for you! ;) Again, it was 8 below that night. Hope you enjoy the place

    Peter2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had the BEST stay at Kris and Brian's place. It was the perfect escape from the busy city. We loved exploring their beautiful property and playing with their dog, Murphy. We also appreciated all the cozy decor and thoughtful touches around the barn. We cannot wait to plan our next trip here.

    Heather2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kris and Brian’s place is nothing short of amazing! Each detail is heartwarming and it can’t be any cozier than it is. We loved hanging out with Murphy and hiking around the property! The fireplace keeps you warm and the comfortable bed has everything you need. We would definitely return.

    Amanda2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

Gorgeous country retreat between Burlington and Middlebury. A "dimensionally transcendental" space (per Dr. Who: bigger on the inside ;o) built as an artist's studio, located in a meadow bordered by woods and a wide creek on 22 acres, magical in all seasons. When you arrive you might think you're at the wrong house, as the exterior keeps its secrets. When you walk in, the soaring cathedral ceiling and back walls of windows frame a unique space: artistic, rustic, beautiful, and very comfy.
One large, 2-story room with two double beds: a bed on the main floor with a firm mattress, and a comfy futon on the sleeping loft. There's a well-equipped kitchen perfect for making romantic dinners, with an under-the-counter fridge and commercial range installed in Spring 2016. There are both electric and drip coffee set-ups, and a toaster. No microwave. A large dining table (made by a local furniture building from local wood) for the amazing dinners you'll make, or to spread out your work and find inspiration. The center of the space holds a comfy "living room" area to hang out in; the couch can also serve as a bed for 1. The cozy bedroom corner on the main floor and the futon on the sleeping loft make for dreamy night sleeps, both have fans and windows to stay cool in the summer. The recently renovated bathroom has an antique claw-foot tub, with a removable plank "desk" for your book and glass of wine. There is a radio & CD player, and iPod/Phone hook-up, wireless internet, and a land line. As you can see from the reviews, it's a very special place, intimate in size but expansive in feel, because of the cathedral ceiling and wall of windows with a view onto the meadow, creek, and sunset. It's a beautiful artistic/rustic interior, quirky, with a high level of comfort, many lovely rugs, and a lot of art. Perfect for an active vacation, a romantic get-away, or a creative, spiritual, or rejuvenating retreat. Please note: It's country living, and there is wildlife in the area. You may see snakes, mice, spiders, ants, bees, ticks, deer, and even a bear. the Leave all food either in the fridge or in the plastic container near the back door. If you leave food out on the counter, it will attract mice and ants. There is usually tick spray in the house, as well as information on how to remove them. You may well not experience any of the above!
Great natural beauty with an intimate scale. Covered bridges, rolling hills, swimming holes, x-country ski trails, fresh eggs for sale across the road. A vibrant creek (actually a small river) borders the land with easy access for wading, swimming, and fishing. The neighborhood (accessible by car) also has cafés, restaurants, bakeries, markets, hardware, yoga . . . pretty much anything you'll need.
  • I spent 3 days here and it was quiet, comfortable, and relaxing. Hinesburg is ~ 5 miles away and has a very nice grocery store and pharmacy. Janie was quick to respond and made check in and check out a breeze. I highly recommend her cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful VT retreat.

    Kyle2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Janie's "cabin" is in a beautiful location and has a charm beyond words. It is spacious and cozy and wonderfully located in the countryside but within easy reach of Burlington, Vergennes and Shelbourne. It's rustic but very comfortable. Well worth a visit.

    Mark2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy space with nice views and good hills for sledding in winter. Area is beautiful.

    Jeyme2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Really cute and cozy cabin, was a perfect getaway space. Kitchen has basic things needed for cooking, but not very good lighting for cooking in the evening. We were able to take a short walk behind the cabin which was very pleasant. It's at least a 15-20 minute drive to get anywhere, but the scenery of the drive is beautiful.

    Joy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Janie's place. It is in a beautiful area of Vermont with farmland all around and about 30 min away from Burlington for great food options and views of lake Champlain. Thanks again for a great visit!

    Marc2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a relaxing and unique place! Janie was so thoughtful and very communicative. The place stayed nice and cozy even with the chilly conditions and falling snow outside. Highly recommended.

    Myles2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, super private and serene! Amazing getaway location!

    Rj2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Janie’s cabin was the perfect weekend getaway. Close enough to the city to enjoy quiet a few breweries all within a half hour drive but far enough away to disconnect and enjoy time with the people you are traveling with. We can’t wait to make it back there !

This adorable rustic cabin sleeps 4, and has many extra amenities. Lake, pool, and community house with ping-pong, library, board games, and pool table. Kayak and canoe, and glorious hiking in the Green Mountain National Forest.
HOW TO AIRBNB: • Kindly read entire listing and the House Rules. • Complete your Airbnb profile (including photo). This cabin, one of nine in this small community retreat, is 100 yards from the lakefront with a private dock. The cabin has two bedrooms - 1 double bed and 2 twins. (The cabin will be entirely yours, the pool and lake areas are shared with the guests of the other cabins.) Full kitchen with stove/oven, coffee pot, toaster, and seating for 4, plus 2 armchairs. Kitchen has recently been updated with brand new "tiny house" fridge/freezer, butcher-block countertop, and new sink and faucet. Provided: tableware, pots and pans, and all the basic tools you'd need to make a great meal. Also coffee, creamer, sugar, some spices, olive oil, vinegar. We now have wi-fi and pretty good cell service! Our cabin is 3 season, UNHEATED. We close up in the fall and re-open in mid- May. Vermont weather in early spring/fall can be fickle. Meaning it's cold! We bring extra blankets! :-) During hot weather, there are 2 table fans provided for air circulation. This cabin has lake access to the 3-mile, beautiful Lake Dunmore. Nestled on the edge of the Green Mountain National Forest, down the road is the Branbury State Park. Copious hiking trails! Also, the cabin is just a few minutes from the lovely village of Brandon, the town of Middlebury, VT and a pleasant hour drive to Burlington, VT. Parking is right outside the front door - there is room for 1 car on the front lawn near the picnic table. Extra parking, for additional cars or if you have visitors drop by during the day, is just a few yards away. There is a clean convenient laundromat just down the road, at the north end of the lake. We are LGBTQ friendly. We do NOT discriminate against anyone- we welcome all races, ethnicities, gender identities, you name it. If you're kind, you can stay here.
The closest convenience stores: Country Store and Deli, 1457 Lake Dunmore Rd, Salisbury, VT 05769 Forest Dale Grocery and Deli, Furnace Rd, Forest Dale, VT 05745 There is also a Hannaford supermarket in downtown Brandon. A few good spots to eat: In Brandon: Cafe Provence- our favorite Mae’s Place- Main St. We like it. Sit outside. It is casual, and far from speedy, but it is friendly. And Brandon House of Pizza is good There's a restaurant and soft-serve place at the North end of the Lake that's decent, nothing fancy. That's the closest eatery to the cabin. They have more flavors of soft serve than I've ever seen. Closed after Labor Day. It's not Manhattan! :-) You can also venture down to Middlebury. 20 minute drive. My favorite place in the world. Restaurants in Middlebury: Rosie's Diner 2 Brothers Tavern Mr. Up's Otter Creek Brewing- great beer, and they have a pub/restaurant The Marbleworks - a conglomeration of stores, etc. Every place to eat in here is good, and it's a nice to walk around and see the waterfalls. Enjoy!!!
  • We have been coming to Laura’s cabin for years now and will keep coming back because it is such a perfect little spot. Charming and cozy, the cabin has everything you need, just a pretty and leafy walk down to the quiet lake. Great for a family vacation, this place is a true gem. We love Cabin #2!

    Jenny2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin, fun location in Vermont. Kids loved the pool, lake, play areas at Dunmore Acres.

    Sarah2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing stay! Very easy access to the lake, where they are all kinds of activities. But also easy access to great hiking or Middlebury or Brandon within a 20-minute drive or so. The cabin is comfortable and neighbors are very friendly. Would highly recommend, and would gladly stay again anytime!

This is a spacious guesthouse/retreat where you can relax and unwind. There are great views and walking down the road is like paradise with open fields bordered by woods and teaming with wildlife. Nestled in the foothills of the green mountains, we’re just 10-15 minutes to restaurants in Bristol or Middlebury and 30-40 minutes to the lake or skiing. Come explore all that Addison County has to offer and you’ll quickly find why so many people choose to stay.
This is a large one bedroom apartment with tall ceilings and great light. It has vintage touches mixed with modern amenities.
Our house is a 1/4 mile from the nearest neighbor, at the end of a dirt road. It is at the top of a hill so it has great views of the foothills and the back side of Mad River Glen through the Bristol gap. The road is great for walks or bike rides and the area is famous for it's great hiking, skiing or sailing.
  • The house was very clean and very comfortable. The view from the living room on the mountain was exceptional. We had everything that was needed in the accommodation. The host was very kind and knew the area well.

This small cottage is nestled in a professionally landscaped garden 1.5 miles north of Bristol village. Cozy double bed, dresser, ceiling fan with vaulted ceiling make it a sweet destination. Very private outdoor shower with hot/cold water, outdoor sink, and a flushable toilet within a separate "outhouse".
The cottage does not have heat which makes this a seasonal rental only. In cool weather, an electric space heater works great. The double sized bed makes this a cozy fit for two.
Bristol is a charming village nestled on the western side of the Green Mountains and surrounded by farmland. Hiking trails start from the village or are within a short drive. On hot summer days, check out Bartlett Falls and other swimming holes in the New Haven River. There are miles of cycling on paved or dirt roads in any direction. The famous App Gap or Lincoln Gap challenges start/end here. 20 minutes from Middlebury College; 30 minutes to Kingsland Bay State Park on Lake Champlain; 45 minutes to Burlington. There are plenty of restaurants, from gourmet to casual, serving locally sourced food and craft brews. Our downtown is one block long with an interesting mix of stores and friendly shopkeepers. Honey Lights, a charming beeswax candle shop, makes great gifts. Art on Main features local artists of all genres. Rocky Dale Gardens is a treasure. Music, farmer’s markets, food and brew tours and berry picking are just a few options for local summer experiences within Addison County.
  • Gorgeous little cottage. It was like a dream. My boyfriend and I stayed one night and hope to come back again next year for even longer. Very cozy with a nice little town center.

    Kyle2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Much cozier than expected. The outside shower was perfect after a long day of hiking. The bed was so, so comfortable. Marianne was an absolute delight, and she had her kitty in her arms when she met us!! If you need a small, comfortable spot to rest your head, this is the place!

    Gigi2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne’s place is such a perfect, sweet, amazing little gem, nestled in the gorgeous hills of Vermont. Absolutely fell in love with the outdoor shower (in October!) which affords plenty of privacy and hot water. Temperatures were dipping into the low 40’s at night and we were plenty warm with the cabin’s little heater and blankets. Marianne is kind, helpful and allows her guests the space to relax and unwind. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and nearby downtown Bristol is all that you could wish for in rural VT with a grocery store, cafes, restaurants and shops with local crafts. You’re gonna love it so much!

    Theresa2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little cabin in the woods! Definitely a fun experience

    Liz2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location was lovely, the grounds well maintained. The cabin is very clean and the outdoor facilities private. The patio perfect for wine, cheese and a fresh salad from the local pizzeria in Bristol.

This cozy, private one-bedroom two-level Victorian carriage house is down the street from the Middlebury Inn. A short walk downtown Middlebury in one direction or fields and woods in the other, this is a comfortable and charming retreat in a great location.
The carriage house is a separate building adjacent to our private home. The first level includes a bathroom with a shower, and an eating area with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and cute drop-leaf table. Upstairs is a large open area with a comfortable queen-size bed and a living area with a couch, chairs, cable tv and desk. This space has is ideal for two people. For additional guests, we can provide an air mattress in the same large room as the bed. (Please note that we do not automatically set up the air mattress for bookings for two guests. If you wish to request it, please message us. We charge an additional $20/day for bookings that use the air mattress.) Note: There have been a few minor changes to the furnishings since these photos were taken.
The property is in a fantastic location. It is less than a quarter mile to the grocery store, natural foods co-op, laundry mat, and Bagel Shop. It's only a quarter mile more into downtown Middlebury, which has lovely shops, restaurants and bars. Keep walking and you'll arrive at Middlebury College, which is one mile from our house. Our house is also a quarter of a mile from two different trail heads of the Trail Around Middlebury (TAM), an 18 mile walking path around our town. You can easily take a 3 mile hike directly from your door and enjoy the woods and views from Chipman Hill.
  • Very comfortable and clean, great location. We would stay there again.

  • My husband and I loved staying here for a few days. The space has real charm - kind of a funky arrangement with the bathroom & kitchen-like facilities downstairs, but very cozy and comfortable. Caitlin & Andy are great, laid-back hosts & there was lots of good local information provided. We enjoyed our stay in Middlebury and would recommend a stop at the excellent Art Museum at the College. It's free!

  • This place was wonderful! I stayed in the dead of winter when the temps dipped below freezing. The space was warm and the shower was hot. And the bed was so very comfortable. The hosts also provided a variety of Keurig coffee and teas, cream in the fridge, plates and utensils, etc. There is even an induction stove top (that I didn't use). And the location in Middlebury was perfect. I appreciated my host coming out to greet me and offer local restaurant tips, etc. She was so friendly. Perfect stay.

  • I found the Carriage House an ideal location for a long weekend in Middlebury. The interior is beautifully restored and sparkling clean. It is comfortable yet stylish and very close to downtown Middlebury and the college. I have already booked my next stay and in the Spring.

She provides the best possible experience a renter could ask for. As far as the house it is beautiful and the view is outstanding. I have stayed twice now at it and would be there right now if I could be. I brought my dog with me and she was very accommodating for him. He loved the house and the lake probably just as much if not more than me. The house is built with only the finest materials. And there is no bad view from inside or out. I really appreciate everything Barb has done for me while I stayed there. And would recommend it to anyone that wants a peaceful getaway. You will not be disappointed in any way shape or form. Thank you again Barb and best wishes... Submitted: May 18, 2015, Chris S. - Rating: 5 STARS Source: HomeAway JUST AMAZING!!!!!! - 5 STARS This was absolutely the best girl getaway ever! Adam Bergeron Burlington, VT Review Submitted January 31, 2011 Date of Stay January 29, 2011 We celebrated my wife's 30th birthday while our son stayed with the grandparents. Our expectations were far exceeded! This place is absolutely beautiful, we can't wait to return! I've rented through Homeaway and VRBO a number of times and this was by far the nicest home we've ever stayed in. From the granite countertops, to the wood floors, to the large windows and huge jacuzzi tub, it was a dream come true for us. A lot of rentals are just that--rentals. This is a home. Oh, and the view???? Out of this world. Rating: 5 STARS! Thank you Barbara, for a great long weekend at your lovely cabin. The weather was ideal. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We both enjoyed the big jacuzzi tub. We sat on the dock and fished and we fell in love with Vermont. The view is amazing and very tranquil. Visiting the local town of Middlebury and the University grounds was very nice also. We can't say enough good things about your place and will be back next September for sure. This home was beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a better week of vacation. We mainly came to the home for the fishing on Lake Champlain. The fishing was amazing. The home was more than anyone could ask for. The views of the lake were fabulous and the home was equipt with pretty much anything you would ever need. It was very hard to leave. This was the perfect getaway (quiet, peaceful, away from it all). I cannot wait to come back and stay in this home again. The hospitality of the owners was great and I have zero complaints about my vacation. I would reccomend this home to anyone. My wife, 1-year-old and I spent a week in this beautiful place at the end of January. The setting is magnificent, with breathtaking views of lake Champlain and beautiful rural Vermont landscapes. Nearby are local stores and restaurants, and a bit farther away Middlebury is easily accessible. The house itself is beautifully designed and equipped with its wood floors, cathedral ceilings, spacious kitchen, large windows that give on the lake, gas stove to keep things cozy in the winter, jacuzzi, and ping pong/ pool table/ dart board/ games downstairs. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground when we were here, but the house was nice and warm. We walked out onto the lake where people were ice fishing, and went sledding with the baby. The hosts were very welcoming- they baby proofed the electrical outlets for us, left some local specialities for us to try, and gave us lots of pointers. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a house on lake Champlain! Rating: 5 STARS! We finally had a chance to truly relax in a remarkably beautiful setting. Our charming hosts who live just down the driveway even provided a small basket of Vermont goodies for us when we arrived. Although 6 can indeed fit here, it was perfect for just 2 of us!. There is a bed for 2 in the basement and a bed for 2 upstairs with a magnificent view of the lake. The sleeping loft is in the upstairs bedroom and could sleep two more. You can lie in bed and see the stars through the skylight! The kitchen is very well equipped - a true plus as I do a fair bit of cooking. The lake is steps away and the kayaks and paddle boat were fun to use. The house is light and airy and beautifully maintained. This was my first experience renting a vacation home and I was very impressed with how smoothly everything went. The town of Vergennes is close by and has a great diner called Three Squares. Breakfast is fabulous- supper fresh eggs and delicious bacon! The Maritime Museum, which I thought had great promise....was a disappointing bore....hopefully they will get better in time. Verizon cell reception was very dicey, but the owners tell us that ATT works better. We found we could plug our IPOD into the television and we were able to play all of our own tunes. I recommend this property highly and without reservation. I plan to visit again next year! Rating: 5 STARS! David - Review Submitted October 7, 2010 Date of Stay August 7, 2010 Thank you! We had a wonderful time. Your lovely house was the perfect getaway for us, as would be for so many people. While we enjoyed a week of lounging, lazing, kayaking and cooking in, others could easily enjoy so many other activities, like hiking, swimming, and enjoying the many activities that Middlebury has to offer. The house is gorgeous. The main bedroom, with its breathtaking views and large windows, was like sleeping in a landscape painting. And the master bathroom, with its jacuzzi tub that overlooked the lake, just added to our relaxation. Finally, your own accommodations never failed to make us feel more welcome. Whether it was sharing songs with us on your porch or coming by to make sure that the outlets had safety plugs to ensure that our 1-year old was unharmed, we felt like we were well taken care of. Thank you again for a lovely vacation. It was exactly what we needed. PERFECT GETAWAY! - 5 STARS! My wife and I stayed here over Christmas together with another group of friends. It was one of the best trips we've had. The host Barbara was very helpful and the house was newly built, renovated and everything was perfect! On our way to the house, my car got stuck in the snow and couldn't move up one of the hills in VT. I called Barbara and Barbara immediately offered to help me find an alternate path. Within a few minutes, she got back to me and helped me find my way there. Upon arrival, the house was very clean and well-prepared for our arrival. Dishes were dry, the floor was clean, and everything else was in perfect order. Barbara gave us a tour around the house and introduced us to all the games and activities available. She also gave us a very good introduction to the nearby ski resorts and cities, where we could go for ice fishing etc. The wireless internet signal was also a little weak but Barbara helped to realign the wireless router such that I could get internet access on both floors of the house. The next day, Barbara referred me to a few nearby mechanics so I could get snow tires. When I arrived there they ran out of snow tires and Barbara immediately helped me call up several other stores nearby and when I arrived, I realized that Barbara and even asked them for a special discount on my behalf! We had a really good time. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is newly built, so everything is in perfect working order. The jacuzzi on the second floor is superb. But the best thing about this house is its view. Situated by Lake Champlain, it has an amazing view of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains on the other side. We arrived late at night and so we couldn't see the lake, but when we woke up the next morning, all four of us went "WOAHHHHHHH". It's truly insane. We only wished that we went in the summer, for we could not go out boating. Perfect place for a getaway and worth every penny. Rating: 5 STARS! Barbara thought of everything- from kitchen utensils to board games, the house is stocked with everything you could possible imagine needing. It was sparkling clean. The views are beautiful. It was a perfect romantic get-away! Barbara met us at the door to give a very thorough tour as we arrived. She's friendly and attentive; I immediately felt like I was in good hands. She even gave us a quick billiards lesson! 😆 Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Barb’s local tips cover all of the must see and do while in Vermont. When not out and about, you can enjoy warmth by the wood burning stove or a table game down in the basement game room. Barb takes pride in her home and makes you feel like a friend upon arrival.

This cozy compact cottage is in a rural setting and off the beaten path. It is about a 12 minute drive to Middlebury where you can find shops, restaurants and Middlebury College. Burlington is about 40 minutes north of where we are located. Hiking/skiing in the Green Mountains, fly fishing in the nearby New Haven River, boating/swimming on Lake Champlain, and enjoying the many local craft breweries and wineries are some of the many activities you have access to from this beautiful spot.
This is a completely refurbished small compact cottage with it's own yard and private driveway, located in a beautiful rural country setting. There is a small, separate bedroom with a cozy double bed and a comfortable full size pullout couch in the living room/kitchen area, a full size bathroom with a tub/shower combo, and a well equipped kitchen. Entry into the cottage is thru a spacious mudroom, an ideal space to store skiing, fishing/hiking equipment, or bikes. A comfortable deck off the front of the cottage can be accessed either from inside or outside the cottage.
The neighborhood is quiet with the ability to see other neighbors homes, but far enough away from them for complete privacy. We are surrounded by many trees and fields and enjoy a beautiful view of the Green Mountains. If you are an early riser, there are some amazing sunrises.
  • This place is absolutely spectacular. Writing this review is akin to shooting myself in the foot......I travel to watch my daughter, Middlebury Hockey player, play and sometimes just to visit. The location is just 12 minutes from the Middlebury College Rink and is absolutely homey! The facilities are beautiful, the linens exquisite (including quilts), breakfast clearly meets everyone's needs and to top that off, there are fresh flowers. Need I say more?

  • Just a lovely little cottage house, perfect for a getaway from the hustle and bustle. We stayed here for just one night during a quick vacation to Middlebury. It was the perfect distance, easy to find, and the drive offered us gorgeous views of the mountains and some local historic buildings. Marcia was very communicative, and we had everything we could have needed.

  • This is a wonderful cottage that is perfect for one or two people. It is a few minutes from the center of New Haven giving it the feel of being out in the country yet close to larger towns such as Middlebury or Vergennes. It is easy to get to and find just off of Route 7, and the host's directions are thorough and clear. There are beautiful views of the Green Mountains. The cottage was immaculate with nice touches of fresh flowers. The accommodations are simple and comfortable: a small couch and rocking chair in the living area, small table in the kitchen, a double bed, and a bathroom with a tub and shower. The kitchen has all of the appliances and dishes one needs for cooking all meals. There is no dishwasher or disposal, but that is not terribly necessary. The kitchen has staples needed for cooking (salt, pepper, etc), and the host supplies food and the usual drinks for breakfast, eggs, English muffins, several yogurts, blueberry muffins, energy bars, fruit, coffee, tea, etc. The wifi is excellent, which means that if you really want media entertainment, you can use your computer, but why not enjoy the peace, quiet, and natural beauty that surrounds you? There is a heating and airconditioning unit that was perfect for the former. I was staying in winter with temperatures around 0 degrees F outside, but I was quite comfortable inside.

  • Marcia's place is an absolute gem. It is perfect for any solo travelers or couples in terms of its privacy, spaciousness, and the amazing hospitality Marcia provides. Marcia provided very thoughtful snacks and foods during my stay which I enjoyed thoroughly, and she was a swift message/text away whenever I needed anything. The pictures are accurate to what you can expect, and the place was sparkling clean, which is always of the most importance when I book through airbnb. It is a short drive from downtown Bristol, as well as many ski resorts in the area. I could not have been more satisfied with my stay. I strong recommend Marcia as a hostess and her beautiful cottage to anyone that may be interested.

Lots of light, the sound of the river, and a cozy, relaxing atmosphere await. This second story carriage house apartment is the perfect home base while you hike one of our many beautiful trails, or ski one of our mountains! 10 minutes from Middlebury College Snow Bowl, 30 minutes from Sugarbush, 45 minutes from Killington, 35 minutes to Mad River Glen.
Cozy upstairs 1 bedroom with a queen bed and single trundle which can be pulled out. With a full kitchen, full bath, and a woodstove for cold nights you won't want to leave the peace and quiet! This is a dog friendly space so if you have an allergy or an aversion it might not be the place for you (although I thoroughly clean after every guest).
It doesn't get any better than this! Nestled in the valley between the lovely Green Mountains, the property is bordered by two brooks. There's a quaint country store just up the road and all the hiking or biking you could ever want. Truly Vermont at its finest!

Escape to the country at Stoneledge Farm, a restored organic farm on Lake Champlain. The separate unit features an open-plan layout living area, exposed architectural wood beams, pops of color, chic furnishings and decor, and lake views.

  • I care here with my fiancée and almost 2 year old lab and we felt like we were in paradise. Everything couldn’t have been more perfect. From a super easy check in process, all the amenities and comforts you need to feel at home, tons and tons of amazing suggestions of things to do, this was just one of the best stays we’ve had. Mika, her family, and housekeeper Sara went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. The fresh eggs are amazing! We took the recommendation to hike Mt Philo and couldn’t agree more. The best part of the trip was just staying in the property and spending time outside with our pup and all the sheep, gots, llamas and chickens. A perfect place to come with your dog for sure. All in all, we are definitely coming back if this place is available again. 10/10!

  • Gorgeous property! The cabin has beautiful views of the woods/Camel’s Hump/lake. Thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable bed. We visited with an infant and a dog and had enough space for a large dog crate and a pack & play. The bathroom door in the bedroom doesn’t close - it wasn’t a big deal to us but it might be to other guests. We also couldn’t figure out how to close the door between the master bedroom & the living room. Kitchen is well stocked - there’s only 1 burner (hot plate). Plenty of plates/cutlery/cooking tools. Toaster & oven available. The cabin was very warm throughout our stay. Mika provided a lot of wonderful local suggestions of things to do and she was available via text throughout our stay (she responded very quickly). The cabin is close to the main house - consider this if you want complete privacy. Approximately 30 min from Burlington. I strongly recommend this stay if you’re looking for a modern farmhouse feel near Lake Champlain!

  • Mika (+ Animal Friends), Thank you so much for sharing your slice of paradise with us. We adored every detail, and the thoughtful gestures of great hospitality around the property and cottage were flawless- you're a true hostess. Kept your animal family well loved and fed- even enjoyed some farm chores when straw bales was delivered, walked with the sheep out to pasture in the snow and gathered eggs. Already missing the beautiful winter sunsets - but looking forward to our return, hopefully in the summertime. Thank you for allowing us to get some rest in this truly peaceful place! 'til soon, Katie & Meg

  • Mika's place was wonderful! Mika herself was very personable. We enjoyed that it's on a farm and that she encouraged us to interact with the animals, which our 1 year old loved. Also loved that we were allowed to bring our 1 year old as he was not allowed in some of our other inquiries. Location is great for guests looking to be off the beaten path but still close enough ( by car) to a town to gather necessities. Beautiful lake within walking distance. Cottage looked exactly as pictured with many games and a selection of classic novels to keep anyone busy. There is a thermostat in almost all rooms! Big plus! You also get fresh organic eggs from her farm with your stay. The bed was super comfortable. Personal amenities, shampoo etc are all plant based! Kitchen is well equipped with all the necessities you need to prepare a meal, pots, pans, knives, microwave, toasted oven, fridge, you name it. There are even a few food items included. TV has lots of channels. Overall it was exactly what we were looking for, would definitely go back!

Mika was always responsive and very thoughtful with the decorations and little touches such as fresh eggs and chocolate. We will definitely be back to see how different the farm looks in the summer! Absolutely recommend a stay at this unique homestead.

  • My time at Stone Ledge was a dream. I could not have asked for more. Mika was available whenever I had questions, forthcoming before I arrived about getting in touch to make sure I had what I needed to get there, get settled, etc, and overall very kind and conscientious about making my stay comfortable and fun! I felt like it was my own place, but at the same time definitely an escape into nature. It was the perfect mix of remote and close to great food, drink, and culture if I wanted it. The guesthouse provided a cozy space to hibernate during a beautiful winter storm that came while I was there as well as a setting for the ideal bucolic writing retreat (I'm a writer). Spotless, warm, and stylish, I was in love for the whole week! I can't wait to return to experience Mika's farm and her sweet animals in warmer weather. Thank you Mika!!

  • I love Issy so much, cannot stress this enough. She is the sweetest woman with the most interesting life & stories- take the time to get to know her!! She made my stay so enjoyable. My boyfriend loved her as well. She really goes out of her way to make the guest feel welcome and at home. I will be back many times again just to see Issy again. Definately book ♡

  • This is a great place to be if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful get away, which is just what we were looking for this weekend! The area around Issy’s house is beautiful too, perfect for walking and hiking. Issy is an amazing host, very sweet and accommodating! If she ever has any friends over, you’d better grab a bottle of wine and be ready to have a good time!

    Meera2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Issy's place is ideal for an adventurous traveller. Her house and cabin are in a mountainous region of Vermont and her breakfast will make you want to stay several extra nights. Magical location, great place, and a fantastic host.

  • We had an amazing time in Lincoln VT! We stayed in the cabin with our dog which was very warm and comfortable, plus stocked with a ton of movies. Issy is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us great recommendations for skiing, restaurants, and other activities. Our favorite part of the stay was watching our dog become friends with the horse that lives on the property. 10/10! Thanks Issy we hope to return soon!

    Camilla2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Issy was wonderful in communication and made planning easy! Unfortunately, due to illness, we couldn't make the trip. Issy was completely understanding and encouraged us to book again. We definitely intend to visit in the future!

    Milay2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The rustic cabin is perfect simple homebase for outdoor adventures. Hiking, skiing, biking, and brewpubs are close by. Issy is a super host who was on scene during the stay for questions and of course for the breakfast spread every morning. Looking forward to visiting here again. Bringing our pooch was a huge bonus! Thanks Issy!!

    Jamie2017-10-09T00:00:00Z

Old world class meets laid back Vermont charm....a perfect Mad River Valley getaway. Conveniently located on a quiet and beautiful dirt road just one mile from route 100 and 4.5 miles from downtown- enjoy views of Camels Hump and Sugarbush from the private deck.
Persian rugs, homage to Renoir, and an original Grandma Moses relay a sense of wonder while reminders of our love for skiing will most certainly not be over shadowed. We have a robustly supplied kitchen equipped with practically anything you need for a successful night as chef. Enjoy a warm cup of coffee fresh from the coffee press or kcup machine. A futon in addition to our full size bed make this space very workable for small groups or families. Enjoy a Camels Hump sunset on the deck and then head down to our fire pit for s'mores and good tales. Come slow down in Vermont for a while! We know you'll like it here! #Vermontgetaways
We live exactly one mile from a beautiful riverside trail perfect for an easy sunset walk. Our road is simply beautiful with spectacular trees and plenty of cows you can see and hear from the house.
  • A real gem for a stay of any length in the Mad River Valley. Easy access to the ski areas as well as Waitsfield and Waterbury for food and libations. Quiet, peaceful and a beautiful view.

    Jeffrey2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, clean and cool space in a great location. Super convenient (about 20 minutes) to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. 10 minutes to Waitsfield (great restaurants and bars). Jamie and Ellis are super responsive and check in was easy. Highly recommend this space.

    Joseph2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, quaint, very clean and had everything we needed and nothing we did not! Very close to Sugarbush and Mad River and other great local spots. We will be back!

  • Great space, enchanting view, full kitchen, close to town, nice for relaxing apré ski, everything you could need and want

    Katherine2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t say enough about this awesome little cottage on a country road in the Mad River Valley. This is one of the few listings on this site/app that actually surpassed expectations. It’s a perfect size for 1-4 people and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. By far the biggest surprise and stand out feature is how incredibly soft and comfy the mattress was! For skiing in the MRV its a prime spot bc it’s just off of Route 100 and an easy drive to downtown Waitsfield which means great restaurants and tasty beer like Lawson’s. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again regardless of the season.

    Matthew2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jamie and Ellis’s home was outside of town and off the beaten path - just what you want when you stay in Vermont. Sugarbush was easily accessible for down hill skiing and we found several places nearby for cross country skiing as well. The apartment was charming - nicely decorated and well stocked for our stay. We enjoyed our visit and wouldn’t hesitate to stay at their home again!

    Kelly2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jamie & Ellis' place was absolutely perfect for us! My teenage daughter and I visited for a couple days of snowboarding at Sugarbush. We have been to the area before, but never stayed in Waitsfield. The location of this apartment is ideal- just a couple minutes outside of town and the mountain, but a true VT experience with views, wildlife & coziness. The rental is furnished perfectly with nice touches and everything functional that we needed. I slept in the bedroom and my daughter slept on the futon. Both were very comfy and the mattresses/bedding/blankets were of good quality. Wifi was quick and reliable. Shower was hot with nice pressure. We watched deer running around outside the window in front of a red barn with the ski trails in the background - can't get more VT than that! We loved this experience and will absolutely return to this unit - an amazing value and we really felt at home there. Highly recommend!!

  • Great apartment in East Middlebury about a 10-15 minute drive to campus. Very clean and comfortable space with nicer quality cookware and utensils. It was very nice having basic supplies such butter, oil, basic seasonings, coffee, tea, etc. The bed was quite comfortable with nice linens throughout. Communication with Abbott was very good.

  • Beautiful, clean apartment with great amenities and location. We truly enjoyed our stay. One word of caution to future travelers - the host will charge you for additional guests (our group grew from 3 to 4) and for sleeping in all the beds (our daughter took an afternoon nap in the third bed). These charges were billed to us after checkout.

My place is minutes to Middlebury, close to Bristol and Vergennes and about 50 minutes to Burlington. There is much to do at our local craft breweries, wineries, distilleries, Nordic and alpine ski areas, recreation areas for hiking, kayaking, biking, great views. You’ll love the outdoor space, full private kitchen and bath, private entrance.. We welcome couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and well behaved dogs. A full variety of breakfast items and snacks are provided.
Apartment in newer home in a quiet country setting. Spectacular views with many attractions and activities nearby. The apartment is the lower level walkout basement of our home with plenty of light and ambiance. There is a queen bed in the bedroom, a comfortable queen pullout couch, and another full sized couch. The full kitchen is stocked with lots of dishes, pans, utensils, appliances and basic recipe ingredients and condiments to make preparing meals a breeze. Relax and enjoy the property nestled in 12+ acres of meadows (through which are mowed paths for walking and/or snowshoeing) and a partially wooded area that abuts Otter Creek. The Creek is great for fishing and kayaking and there is a public picnic area a short walk from the property. There are plenty of other creeks, ponds and lakes within short driving distance for water recreation activities as well. Wildlife abounds and sightings of our nearby nesting Eagles, Ospreys, Herons and many other birds and animals occur on a pretty regular basis. Our quiet pastoral roads are wonderful for biking and many short and extended biking tours of the state go right through our community.

She even left dog bones for our dog that accompanied us. Christine also had a refrigerator full of breakfast foods for our choosing and everything you could need to cook or bake for yourself. She is a wonderful host with a beautiful property and wonderful accommodations! We look forward to our next visit there! We highly recommend staying at Christine's daylight apartment!

We stayed during a unexpected snowstorm and they were kind enough to give us both spots in their garage for our cars, shovel us out in the morning, and check in several times. The kitchen is so well stocked, which was perfect for breakfast on a snowed-in morning. Overall, amazing hosts!

  • Place was awesome and clean and very relaxing .

    Paul2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Robert Frost Mountain Cabin was an amazing vacation. Carol & Marty and staff responded to our every question and offered great suggestions for places to go. They were always willing to stop whatever they were doing to chat with us about anything. The cabin was so cozy and had everything we needed. The Loft is a nice area where you could meet up with people from other cabins, and enjoy some coffee. It also had snowshoes, sleds, a hot tub, and fire pit. Marty was out there plowing snow constantly, so we were safe. They had YakTrax to put on our boots so we didn’t slip on the snow and ice. Carol even offered jackets if we needed them. There was a nice trail that surrounded the area, and it was well marked. The whole area was beautiful, and very well maintained. This is definitely the best AirBnB we have ever stayed at.

  • Bob was a great host and the house/room was very pleasant. He was super friendly and had great suggestions for local restaurants. This was a great place to stay to ski sugarbush for the weekend—the drive to the mountain is windy and hilly, but very beautiful, so as long as winter weather isn’t too extreme it’s fine.

The Sugar Maple Treehouse was hand built by us as a peaceful and serene reTREEt in central Vermont. Surrounded by the wilderness of the Green Mountain National Forest and perched high above the ground in three maples trees, there is no place better to escape to. There are so many things to do in this area between Killington and Sugarbush, I can't list them all! Between the cozy bed and in-house massage therapist you probably won’t want to leave anyway. Please read the entire description.
You can relax in the treehouse and enjoy being surrounded by nature or you can be adventurous and go explore the surrounding forest.
Our neighbors include the Green Mountain National Forest and the river! But we do have local places and fun things to do from hiking trails to skiing at Killington and Sugarbush resorts, fishing and hunting in the local areas, art and food in nearby Rochester, and breweries in Middlebury!
  • The treehouse is very well built and quite warm with 2 heaters. There is an attached outhouse that does what it needs to. Derek is a great host, he will drive you up and even after we went into the next town over for a drink Derek saw us pull back into the driveway and came over to give us another ride up so we didn't have to walk in the dark. The treehouse is kept very clean and has multiple different activities which should give anyone something to do while they are there. The spot is ideal surrounded by trees and even has a fire-pit if you wanted to make smores! I was very impressed overall with the whole experience and the treehouse, if you are on the edge just go see for yourself how nice it was!

  • We had a wonderful time relaxing in the treehouse. The place was cozy and the attention to detail was beyond. We loved the little cookies and enjoyed Jammie’s massages while we were on the property. Everything was just wonderful and we look forward to visiting again!

    Britt2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem!!!! We’ve stayed in lots of Airbnbs and this one was something special! Derek was very nice and drove us up to the treehouse with all of our bags. The treehouse is visible from the road and it looks absolutely magical! We were toasty warm all night even though the temperature outside was 0°F. We had a fun weekend relaxing and watching Netflix on the little tv. Highly recommend! Derek is super passionate about his treehouses and is constantly renovating. We will definitely be back!

    Nicole2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely book this place if it's available. Absolutely wonderful experience and great place to get away from the city. We've stayed in some similar places that were more Instagram trendy, but this place is the real deal. Derek is a lover of his craft of working with wood and the attention to detail shows. He'll help you get up the mountain with your luggage, and fresh cookies were waiting for us. We stayed during a snow storm where it got to around 6 degrees at night and the heating in the treehouse had us feeling super cozy. He even helped us dig our car out of the snow after checking out. The treehouse is super secluded too, which really tied the experience together. Highly recommend you stay here.

    Thomas2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This treehouse was amazing! Derek gave us a ride to the treehouse with all of our bags, which helped a ton. The space was clean and cozy, yet spacious. We were left cookies, water, and k-cups for some coffee. There is a newly installed smart TV in the loft where the bed is, which we used with no issues. Derek was very responsive and helpful. As for the area itself, it’s definitely a small town and so just be wary of that. We had no issue, but please know if you want places such as Walmart, Dunkin, etc., it’ll be a bit of a drive. I would definitely come back here in the fall!

    Kaylin2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Derek and Jammie were so welcoming and accommodating. They gave us a ride up to the retreet and back down the next morning, though the walk up was not long at all. Absolutely beautiful location and the treehouse is wonderful. The space was clean, warm, and had everything we needed for a night in the VT woods. Will definitely be staying here again in the future!!

  • If you're looking for an authentic, welcoming place to stay with incredible rustic charm, The Mill is where you want to stay. John and his wife could not have been more gracious hosts and went out of their way to make us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The bedroom was warm and cozy and had great ambience from the rushing creek outside. We enjoyed walking around the nearby trails and took several enjoyable day trips to nearby towns and villages, all less than an hour away. If you want to unwind and experience VT as a local for a few days, I would highly recommend The Mill at Lewis Creek.

    Brad2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Words can't express how breathtakingly beautiful this location was, how kind and hospitable John and Manjula were, and how simply amazing this experience was. The place was described perfectly; the pictures don't do it justice. John was warm and welcoming, full of stories and laughter, cooked a mean breakfast, and made us feel like we were part of his home. We got to explore what we could and watch amazing shooting stars from the deck (despite the cold) and with awesome recommendations from John, had awesome food and beautiful hikes that we probably wouldn't have found without him. Thank you for everything, John and Manjula! We plan on coming back during all seasons! ❤️

    Holly2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Manjula and John were incredible hosts to us. This was the perfect place for our 3 night fall trip to Vermont. It's remote enough to feel like you have your cozy place in the woods but close enough to Burlington, great hikes and restaurants. The place is beautifully decorated and has a great vibe to it all around. John made us an incredible breakfast each morning and made us feel at home the entire time. He gave us great hiking recommendations. The grounds are beautiful. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

    Jason2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Actually I’d like to keep this place just for myself. Since I can’t return every week, make certain you reserve this Vermont experience of history, graciousness, generosity, value and pure unmatched hospitality on your next trip to Vermont. We didn’t knowJohn and Manjula on our first trip last year to the Historic Mill on the spectacular River Gorge. This year we returned to our family. And we will every year once again. This is more than an unforgettable place to stay. It’s home.

    Tom2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • John and Manjula are warm kind and gentle people that we are lucky to have met and who we consider friends. Their home is a very special place as well that has been taken care of by passionate and dedicated owners. My wife and I love it here and we highly recommend it to anyone!

    Drew2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • John and Manjula have created a one of a kind experience in their lovely home. The sounds of the rushing river will lull you to sleep (the comfortable warm cozy bed is awesome too). The outside shower is the BEST shower I've had in 63 years. The homemade breakfast tastes as good as it smells. Their home is MORE than a place to stay- it is a total experience for all the senses. We hope to return when we visit Vermont in the future. You NEED to experience this historic bed and breakfast.

    Shannon2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience. It was rustic and unique and absolutely fabulous. Such a romantic spot to stay and be welcomed as family. John went out of his way to send us off to see the sights, and enjoy what the area offers. We were there leaf peeping and his advice was spot on. We have fantastic memories and photos of our trip. The hospitality is so welcoming. From breakfast in the great room (the pancakes are fabulous) to winding down in the evening in front of the fire. I can not say enough about this fabulous place and wonderful people. I would definitely do it again!

    David2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy provided us a great place very conveniently located near Middlebury College. Considering the scarcity of hotels near Middlebury College, this place is hidden gem for parents of and visitors to Middlebury. The sunny view from the window was beautiful. A bagel shop in downtown was in walking distance.

    Nobuhiko2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cozy, clean, homey space that is very convienently located close to town. It was excatly what I was hoping for, and the perfect place to stay after a long day of work and travel. I cannot say enough good things!

  • One of the best Airbnb’s I have ever stayed in. The house had everything that you needed to make it an amazing stay. From the cleanliness to the treadmill. The host even had a bottle of wine and chocolate for us. His attention to detail made this place a memorable stay. I will definitely be back.

  • As all reviewers say...fantastic stay. Great communication. Awesome place, perfect for hubby, myself, and our pup (who also loved it there!). Wine and chocolate, mmm! The local chocolate they left us was so good, we ended up stopping at the business to buy some. Very clean, very comfortable. Easily one of the top AirBnB's we've stayed at, and there've been a few. Hope so much to come back!

Oh, and then there are the perfect hosts, John and Manjula. It’s a special experience.

  • As you pull up to the mill, it is immediately apparent you have arrived at a very special place!! John’s hospitality is second to none and his knowledge and passion for this historic site are evident. We so enjoyed camping by the sound of the falling water and the warmth of the fire pit at night. The pancakes and breakfast were delicious and the company was wonderful, as the cozy indoor space lends itself to conversation. Thank you John for your hospitality and we hope to come back and visit again soon. Wahoowa! Brodde & Stefani

    Brodde2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • First and foremost, although the pictures are gorgeous they do not come close to the real thing. From the moment we stepped out of the car the rushing of the waterfall and the peaceful calm of the campsite had us feeling like we walked into a storybook. The view from the tent house is incredible. Not only the falls and the foliage but the mill house itself it something to behold. Everywhere you look new details emerge, crafted lovingly by hands invested in seeing something special last. The tent house itself is well appointed with plenty of places to sit, and small pieces of furniture to rest your belongings. The bed is very comfortable, and sleeping bags provided just the right amount of warmth for a chilly autumn night. Speaking of warmth the fire pit is perfect and the smores (provided) were thoroughly enjoyed. The outdoor shower is a must, with temperature as hot as you could want and enough pressure to wash the day away. The outdoor bathroom is is kept extremely clean, and is located within a separate structure close enough by the campsite to make it easy to get to but not so close that it intrudes on the beauty of the space. The bathroom, campsite, and shower are all well lit (with lighting/flashlights provided). getting around at night is no difficult task. All in all cleanliness and comfort are beyond expectation and EXACTLY as described. The hosts are wonderful people who seem to truly enjoy sharing this special place with others. John gave us a brief but detailed tour when we first arrived that answered any questions before they could be thought of. The hosts provided us privacy but we felt we could ask for or about anything without hesitation. Suggestions for nearby stores and restaurants were appreciated. The hosts have considered EVERYTHING a person might need . During breakfast (delicious) before we left we chatted in the kitchen of the mill, just like we were speaking with friends we have known for years. John graciously answered questions and shared with us some of the history of the mill. Speaking about the people whose vision and hard work have made this place a wonder to stand the test of time. Do yourself and someone you love a favor and spend time in this place, and the sweet towns nearby. I know we will surely be back, this place touched our hearts.

  • John is an outstanding host! He goes above and beyond with his hospitality, yet remains invisible unless you need him. He had some suggestions and advice for us and shared his experiences as well. The site was amazing, the view was incredible, it was perfectly clean and cozy and we highly recommend staying there! We would certainly love to go back and stay there again soon!

  • Definitely one of my best life experiences! The place is beautiful and clean. Exactly likes described (and even prettier). My girlfriend and I felt welcomed as soon as we arrived, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. John also gave us amazing recommendations on what to do in the area and we were not disappointed! If you need a break from the city, this little paradise is your place to go!

    Valérie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great find and a great experience. This is my kind of camping because I own zero gear, and if I did own any, I would hate setting up. Its all done for you! The location is amazing and John is more than happy to help with whatever is needed.

Tastefully renovated older mobile home, very clean and bright! Outside yard with gas grill and fire pit, wood included. Pet friendly with enclosed outside area for small/medium dogs right off the back porch. Washer/Dryer and fully stocked kitchen.
We purchased this older mobile home from a dear long time neighbor, hence the name, and renovated it in 2015. We did all the work ourselves so while not a professional remodel we are quite proud of it! It is a great place to kick back and relax and we think it is very comfortable. It has three bedrooms and the master has a memory foam queen mattress bed. The two smaller bedrooms have smaller single beds that are still quite comfortable. One of the smaller bedrooms also has a computer desk with an office chair and power/USB charging ports. High speed Wi-Fi is included with a Smart TV with excellent sound. There is no cable or broadcast TV although there is Netflix, etc. through the Smart TV and an Apple TV and a Chromecast for use. Decently stocked kitchen and feel free to use anything in the cupboards/frig for your meals/cooking, Keurig coffee maker.
Smaller street in a residential neighborhood that is a 5 minute walk to downtown Brandon. There you can enjoy food offerings ranging from pizza to French cuisine, a downtown pub, or a pastry at a great French bakery. The Green Mountain National Forest, Brandon Gap and the Long Trail are less than ten miles away.
  • Lovely hosts and a great location to do some exploring around Vermont!

  • We only stayed one night for a more business-oriented trip, but this WAS a cute hideaway and would have been fun to stay and enjoy Brandon, the cute backyard, etc. Alas, it was winter, but we had a very cozy night of restful sleep in a clean place complete with thoughtful local baked goods. Would stay again! Also, places to eat and shop are available, but we opted to travel 25 min to the Shoreham Inn and Pub for dinner and it was worth it :-)

    Jennifer2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a great stop, wish I could have stayed another night. The place was really close to town and near anything you need. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

    Michael2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had an extended stay at Tom’s place and we couldn’t have been more comfortable. Spacious, warm, and with a useful outdoor area for a pet. Perfect proximity to Brandon town as well getting north or south on the main highway. Tom was quick to answer any questions. Would stay again next time we are in Vermont without a doubt.
