Places to stay in Adirondack Mountains
The Micro is a THOW (tiny home on wheels) and has been voted one of the best Airbnb Rentals in the ADKs by NYupstate. We wanted to design a space that was practical yet comfortable. It is quirky as we used some non-traditional materials. This is our first THOW and we are still learning quickly how good design becomes imperative in a small space however, the Micro will have all the amenities and comfort that one would need, plus of course an added uniqueness.
We first became interested after the Tiny House was featured in a Christmas special on FYI's Tiny House Nation in 2015. We became enthralled at these THOWs and knew this would be our next project.
The Micro is excellently located between the villages of Lake Placid (5 miles) and Saranac Lake (4 miles), both places are equally interesting to explore.
  • Great spot. Very cozy and perfectly decorated! Hoping to return again soon!

  • Loved this micro! It is such a convenient spot to stay while exploring the Adirondacks. Lots of good hiking and great restaurants nearby.

  • This tiny home exceeded our expectations in all ways! It was the perfect little space for the two of us looking to get out of the city and be in nature. The views from every window were incredible, and in the afternoon the sunlight streaming in made the whole house cozy. All of the thoughtful touches did not go unnoticed - from the fireplace on the wall, the Bluetooth speaker, toiletries, and kitchen amenities. It was very clean and well maintained, and all communication with the host was very straightforward and easy to understand. We can’t wait to go back and stay here again!

    Mandy2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional! This place is simply EXTRAORDINARY, we loved our stay everything was perfect.

    Kathy2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space, thoughtful hosts! We were cozy and toasty even in sub zero temps! Love the area, perfect stay!

  • I truly don't know where to begin! First off, Jodi and Neil for extremely responsive and answered all of my questions, and believe me...I had a lot! I booked this trip as a surprise for my boyfriend and was extremely nervous it would be crowded. This place and the hosts went above and beyond to make it so cozy. There was plenty of space and more! We even experienced some snow which made the experience even better! Having a full kitchen allowed us not to constantly eat out which was really nice. We took some suggestions from our hosts guide book which was awesome. You truly cannot beat the location and price! I cannot wait to come back!

    Kelsey2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! This hosts were great with directions and giving advice on stuff to do in the area, perfect for skiers or anyone just looking to visit the lake placid/saranac lake area. I strongly recommend this tiny house to couples or a single person!

  • Very cute and clean place. The bed was so cozy, that we didn’t want to get out of it. I was worried that it might be cold but it was very well insulated and the heaters were awesome. Very creative decor and sweet touches throughout the home. Can’t wait to come out in the summer.

  • We really loved our stay in Jodi and Neil’s tiny house and enjoyed discovered the natural sites because of Neil’s suggestions. They were very quick to communicate with us. We would like to come back again!

  • Fantastic small home! Living small is the way to go.

    Susan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the tiny house. Great location to both saranac lake and lake placid.

    Andrew2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Received a message bright and early from Jodi stating that the house was ready at any time which was perfect because we would be in the area earlier than check in. We definitely missed the driveway the first time but that was our own fault, the marker is clearly visible on the tree. Parking is easy and the spot was plowed along with the walkway. The “tiny” house was absolutely beautiful. So many little touches that just made the house. That bed was SO comfortable, I couldn’t believe it. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it and we would come back. Even the proximity to everything was extremely close which was very nice.

    Kelli2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a total gem. Totally acurate depictions of the space but once you are in it it feels so much bigger. The decorations are great and the space is very welcoming. I had no need to contact Jodi as everything was explained in the check-in instructions but she was nice enough to contact me to make sure I was ok with the place. Overall it was a great experience. I decided to bring my own bed sheets and towels and it worked out better for me. My wife loved it and said it's one of the best places we have stayed at so far. I agree.

    Tyrone2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cozy cabin with easy access to both Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. The home had more than enough room for two us and could easily hold around 5 people. There were a lot of special touches to this place that makes it very unique. Love the large window and open living area to watch the snowfall. While there were a couple other cabins nearby, you would never know it. It was very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to nearby trailheads for Scarface and Haystack/Mckenzie Mountains trails. Would love to stay here again in the Summer.

Our 30' yurt sits at the top of a 25 acre pasture grazed by sheep, lambs and laying hens with phenomenal views of Whiteface and the Adirondack mountains. Plenty of space for 2-6 people on an adventure into the mountains available from September - early June. Firewood (only heat source) for purchase at the farm, bring sleeping bags for cold weather. Our yurt is not a fully conditioned space, it's a somewhat insulated tent. Plan accordingly, read the reviews, ask questions.
Make sure to read the full listing for details. Its a 30' diameter yurt with glass french doors at the entrance, 3 double hung windows and a plexiglass dome allow natural light in. There is electricity - kitchen lights, a few lamps and some string lights, a fridge, and outlets. There's a propane stovetop and counter tops inside with a propane grill outside. Basic kitchen necessities. 40' away is a composting outhouse, just toss some wood shavings in after each use. There is NO running water at the yurt - there is a 7 gallon water jug that you can fill from the blue hydrant by the barn (lift all the way up and wait a few seconds for water to flow - see photos). Showers are available (April-Oct) for donation at the KOA Campground on Fox Farm Rd in Wilmington near Whiteface Mtn - about 12 minutes from the yurt). There is a wood stove for heat - please READ the instruction page next to the stove, that is the only small heat source and will take a while to warm up and take the edge off. Stove warms yurt to 40 degrees F above outside temp. Firewood available for purchase at the farm or at the many roadside stands locally. Due to potentially invasive insects, please do not bring firewood from more than 50 miles away. THIS IS A CAMPING EXPERIENCE ****The yurt has only basic insulation. If staying with us in colder temperatures, you should be comfortable camping in the fall or winter and bring appropriate clothing, sleeping bags and gear for the temperatures.**** There is an electric blanket on the queen beed. Please understand this is not a fully conditioned space, the wood stove can warm it up around 40-50 degrees F above the outside temp. It is rustic, adventurous lodging - similar to renting a backcountry hut, except you can drive right up to it and its on a cool little farm with phenomenal views! Read past reviews, come prepared, ask questions. Check us out on Instagram.
15 minutes to Whiteface, 20 minutes to major trailheads, 25 minutes to Lake Placid. Cross country ski around the pastures and through the woods when there's snow. We're happy to help you figure out where to hike/ski/climb, and recommend places to eat.
  • Waking up the the beautiful view of mountain tops was the highlight. Great place to stay in any season!

    Cole2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The blue pepper farm is a charming and rustic site. The accommodation is very private. It was our second visit and it will certainly not be our last. We highly recommend :) Be sure to taste the delicious products from their farm. The chorizo and lamb sausages were tasty.

  • An absolutely beautiful farm with lovely hosts, we will defiantly be staying here again. The view is phenomenal!

    Jillian2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The view is unbelievable.!Perfect location to many hikes and to disconnect from the outside world. We would stay there again.

    Florence2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The view of the mountain outside of the yurt is beyond incredible - keeps me coming back! The yurt is charming and exactly as described - super spacious, basic kitchen essentials, a comfy bed, cozy living room! The new wood stove rocks!!! It heats up the space quickly and with little amount of wood! I would definitely suggest bringing an electric blanket to use in the cool mornings on the couch if you plan on sitting to eat or enjoy a coffee! Made all the difference this year!

    Francesca2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience, I loved the yurt and the view of the mountains. Tyler and Shannon are great host, they shared their story and love for the farm with us, I will most definately rent again!

    Melanie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect spot for an adventure with my two young kids! We loved being so close to the sheep, learning about the farm from Shannon, and gathering wood and fetching water. It truly was exactly what I was hoping for, and my 7 year old was very upset to leave. He is already planning our next trip to the yurt :)

    Jessica2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Love staying at blue pepper farm! Hosts are very friendly and willing to answer questions, and the yurt has lots of awesome touches. Heated blanket was great for the winter. View is amazing, great place to stay to do some weekend hiking or skiing.

  • Jeanne's place is so great and in a beautiful location. My boyfriend and I had so much fun making fires and going on hikes.

    Kayla2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. We've now visited twice because of how cute and quaint it is while still including every amenity you could think of. Such a relaxing and beautiful getaway at the A-Frame

    Jack2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The A-Frame is beautiful. My husband (of two days) and I walked in and both walked around the house going “omg look at this!” “Wow, look at this!” It was the perfect honeymoon getaway. Cozy fires in the living room with our dog curled up in front was picture perfect. The sound of the stream from the deck is so relaxing. The house has everything you could need, no detail has been forgotten. Highly recommend the A-Frame as a romantic getaway. -Grace, Brian and Toby

    Grace2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is our absolute favorite Airbnb of all time! It's a wonderfully cozy A-frame that makes you feel at home and it's nestled in a great location in the Adirondacks! We first stayed here in 2014 and fell in love with winter getaways spent in front of a fireplace and snowshoeing. So glad we could back it back to Jeanne's A-frame--highly recommend! Now we need to return in the summer months for some great hiking in the area.

    Haley2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect little rustic getaway! We came for our honeymoon and had a great time! Our dog loved it too! We can't wait to come back.

Tucked in the woods on our working sheep farm, our off-grid tiny house is the perfect escape and stepping stone into the Adirondack mountains for hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Enjoy the coziness of the Crook between forays into our north country wilderness! What you will find: adventure, peace, quiet, woodstove, candles, down blanket, fire pit, privacy, composting outhouse, firewood for sale. *Please note there is NO electricity and NO running water. Akin to glamping!
The Crook is just 200 square feet plus an 8'x8' sleeping loft with a steep ladder, NO ELECTRICITY, NO RUNNING WATER. Lots of windows and a big sliding front door let in lots of light during the day. The composting outhouse is 30' out the back door, just add some shavings from the bin after use. There's a small one-burner propane stove on the counter in the small kitchen space equipped to cook/eat for 2. Use the blue water jug to get potable water from the blue handled hydrant by the barn (pull the handle all the way vertical - see photo). Showers can be found (*April-Oct*) for donation at the KOA Campground on Fox Farm Rd in Wilmington near Whiteface Mtn - about 12 minutes from the yurt). The Crook has basic insulation and the only heat source is a small Vermont Castings wood stove. When you arrive it will likely be the same temperature as outside unless folks had a fire that morning before departing and it will take a few hours to warm up. Firewood NOT included in price. Self-sufficiency is a must! Be prepared for a rustic and adventurous experience. You will find a few basics, like mugs, plates/bowls, silverware. Heat water on the stove to wash your dishes in the wash bin - dump the water out back. ***Firewood is available for purchase 100' from the Crook in the woodshed - its $.50 per log on the honor system, leave cash or Venmo us @Tyler-Eaton-19. You can also get wood at roadside stands in the area (esp Wilmington) and at Stewarts Shops.
The town of Jay is pretty tiny with very few services. Devins gas station and deli is open Mon-Sat, closed Sundays. The farm is 46 acres and the Crook is tucked back in the woods in a very private setting minus the Yurt 100 yards away. Food/groceries are at least a 10 minute if not 30 minute drive.
  • A great stay for those interested in spending a night or two without electricity. Listing is accurate and space was clean and cozy. The wood stove is a fun amenity.

  • The Shepherd's Crook is a cozy home base for adventures in the mountains or just a place to relax and escape from life for a few days. The place is very quiet, clean, cozy, and dog friendly. Tyler is also great at providing local advice. Such a unique place; I will definitely come back!

    Jen2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little cabin that makes you feel off the grid for some time. I would suggest to bring extra towels to dry dishes or pick up messes. Bring slippers, especially if your feet get cold easily. Having cards or board games or a book is a must. We brought our own cast iron pan, which ended up being very useful. Basically pack as if you are going camping. It’s a real treat this cabin, you will enjoy yourself!

    Azizza2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot. Very convenient to Whiteface.

    Jonathan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon and Tyler are friendly hosts. The place was as advertised and a nice experience. A great place to come back after hiking and exploring the area. We used some of their firewood and some firewood from a roadside stand and found that theirs was well seasoned and perfect for the wood burning stove. Looking forward to trying some lamb chorizo I purchased from the farm during my stay.

    Brad2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect here! Apart from the fact that I am mildly inexperienced on how Like an indoor fire, our experience was so perfect! The place was so special and beautiful. I cannot wait to come again

Put on a record, sit back with a cocktail, and watch the cows slowly amble through the mountain pastures.
A bit about the place, Sugar House Creamery is a farmstead creamery in the high peaks region of the Adirondack mountains. Dairy farms are few and far between in this part of the world so the sight of our Brown Swiss making their way back to the barn for milking is especially remarkable. The space is a newly renovated studio-style apartment located in the loft of the old carriage barn on our farm. The interior is fresh and new with a charming, vintage decor. Features a private balcony that overlooks the green pastures and the distant Sentinel Mountain range, a turntable with record collection, a mini bar stocked with assorted glassware and cocktail fixings (minus the alcohol), a jotul gas stove for chilly nights. Une maison d'hote a la ferme! Les francophones sentiraient bienvenues--nous parlons francais!
If you want to get off the farm and explore the Adirondacks, the Carriage Barn is within minutes of a myriad of hiking trails, a stones throw from the Ausable River full of swimming holes and epic fly fishing sites, and smack dab in the middle of the most popular Adirondack biking routes. We are: -5 miles from Whiteface Mt. -6 miles from Keene -11 miles from Keene Valley -14 miles from Lake Placid. Ask us for dining recommendations!
  • Very pleasant week end at the sugar house creamery. The whole farm is very beautiful and the flat is perfect, clean, well decorated with all the necessary stuff (coffee, oil, kitchen stuff, spices, etc). We had an amazing time in the house and around in the surrounding villages. Alex and Margot were always available when needed and double checked to see if everything was ok, which was really appreciated. Thank you so much for this amazing week end!

    Sandrine2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Sugar house and we had another amazing stay here! Last stay we didn’t have a chance to see them milk the cows so we made sure to stop in . The staff at the farm was so informative we even got lucky and saw a live cow birth! Alex was so helpful and gave us great recommendations about what to do in the area. We will be back next year!

    Nick2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing getaway at Sugar House Creamery. The carriage barn is cozy, well-equipped and sparkling clean - perfect for two :) The hosts were friendly and had amazing recommendations for food and activities nearby. Would definitely stay again!

  • We’ve turned this particular AirBnB into an annual trip for us and this was our 4th visit - such a unique and cozy accommodation in the middle of the most beautiful region of ADK. Always clean, comfortable, and homey in a peaceful setting - great location to anything you could want to do: hike, ski, snowshoe, shop stores in Keen/Lake Placid, but you could stay the day at the farm and be just fine. Plenty of food and drink options within the neighboring towns.

    Hannah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was a really pleasant stay! Alexander is a gold guest, very simple. Personally, the care given to the decoration and the feeling that the hosts "give love" to their accommodation is very important and that is what I felt during my stay in this magnificent small accommodation. Highly and warmly recommended!

    Ghislain2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we've stayed at the Sugar House Creamery! We really enjoy the stylish space, and having the chance to explore the farm and visit with all the friendly animals. Perfect for a cozy getaway in the perfect location in the Adirondacks.

    Gabriella2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay in the Carriage House. Once again we really enjoyed it. It's close enough to Whiteface for our snowboarding, but also offers a unique rural experience in a charming well appointed studio apartment. The cows are so charming and the local tips were really helpful. We highly recommend this accommodation!

  • Staying at Colleen and Bill's Tiny House was the perfect escape we were looking for. It was so peaceful and cozy, we felt right at home the second we pulled in. Both Colleen and Bill were so hospitable and it was always a pleasure to chat whenever we encountered them. The location was perfect, a quick drive to anything we needed, and the space including the bathroom was immaculate (I was a bit nervous about the compost toilet, but it was surprisingly pleasant) . Overall, It was the picturesque fall escape my husband and I were looking for. We're already making plans to go back!

  • We loved staring here. Has everything you need without any extras you don’t. We’ve already talked about staying again.

    Emmie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house and matching tiny bathroom are very quaint and rustic looking, while having modern amenities. They are in the backyard, but it feels like you have your own private space. It fits in well with the Adirondacks. Everything was clean and the hosts were helpful and friendly.

  • This was a comfortable place to stay with my husband and four year old daughter between our hikes.

Camp Garoga offers high quality accommodations year round for guests. Located in the foothills of the southern Adirondacks and bordering 400+ acres, Garoga(Bear or Moose Cabin) offers so much more of an experience than a hotel could ever offer!
Two cabins are available at Camp Garoga. So if our calendar shows no vacancy please inquire. If you are interested in the cabin with the jacuzzi, please let me know when inquiring. I do have other cabins as well, with jacuzzis. Think of Camp Garoga as a log cabin condo. Meticulous and affordable(priced just higher than hotels in town yet offering SO MUCH MORE!). We take great pride in owning one of the 3rd nicest cabin accommodations around. **FYI, we also hold the #1 and #2 positions :) The cabins are connected back to back to each other with Moose Cabin facing west and Bear Cabin facing east. In regards to amenities both cabins are completely separate from each other with their own driveways, private screen porch, fire-pit and gas grill. The likelihood of seeing the other guests is slim(unless you're both hiking the private 400 wooded acres with trails that start at your doorstep). Moose Cabin now offers a BRAND NEW 4 person jacuzzi! Please inquire about availability. There is an additional $35 jacuzzi fee for a 2-3 night stay and an $50 additional fee for 4-7 night stay. This fee is not secured through Airbnb and is due on arrival. We think that it's a wonderful addition to the cabin and are excited to have finally installed it. **NEW** Because of a high demand of guests looking for snowshoe rentals we have purchased some high-end SNOWSHOES that are now available for rental. Please inquire about availability($10/weekend per set. $20/wk per set). A liability/replacement waiver will need to be signed on arrival to cover lost or damaged snowshoes. Some guests have mentioned the quality of the water and have expressed concern(including 2 older guests who left a gas burner on for 2 DAYS STRAIGHT without a flame and blamed the odor on the tap water. I can't believe they made it out alive, yet never mentioned it until I informed them that housekeeping nearly "dropped dead" when she walked in to clean 2 hours after they left. Please know your carcinogens, people :/ ) Well water isn't like city water and does have a different taste, but the water is VERY safe to drink(as most people in the area use it) and is excellent for your skin and hair. If you prefer not to use the tap water for drinking, we do supply an unlimited supply of fresh drinking water(which is delicious) Pets are not allowed in any of our cabins. NO EXCEPTIONS. Character, warmth, and charm are the cornerstones behind the very idea of Camp Garoga. We wanted to create an inviting, cozy, and AFFORDABLE space for guests who wish to explore ALL of what the Adirondack's can provide. Whether you're looking to enjoy a long romantic weekend or a week long vacation for the your adventurous family, Camp Garoga offer so much more than a hotel ever could and it won't disappoint. Upon pulling in the driveway you will notice the care and attention to detail starting with the traditional rustic adirondack style twig work rails on the screened in porch. Reminiscent of the historic "great camps" from the onset of Adirondack lodging. The comfortable screened in porch offers privacy as well as a sitting area for reading and relaxing out doors and a picnic table for any meal of the day or playing one of the many board games provided. Most cabins in the area overlook the importance of the adirondack screen porch, offering you solace from the springtime bugs and nighttime insects that would otherwise be attracted to your evening reading light. We have added 2 porch ceiling fans for your added comfort. Once you enter through the double French doors, nothing will disappoint! From the light balsam fragrance and immaculate accommodations, to the handmade soap and the natural pine woodwork we have created a cabin masterpiece. And it HAS to be clean! Our cleaning staff is spot on with keeping the cabins looking brand new each and everytime. Our guests continuously feel that they're the first ever guests and feel instantly at home. The bedrooms and living room space are ULTRA inviting with their unique cabin decor, clean linens, and quaint reading spaces. With the fireplace being the heart of the cabin. Garoga borders over 400 wooded acres for your immediate outdoor needs right from your doorstep. Particularly enjoyable would be a morning walk along the trails with a cup of coffee or tea. Let the kids loose to enjoy the woodland or large grassy backyard with fire pit(some wood provided). The occasional bench along the trails offers a comfortable and quiet resting place for reading a good book or just taking in the private forest surroundings. Autumn and winter walks are particularly enjoyable! And when you've worked up a good chill, the cabin awaits your arrival for a warm fireside nap or conversation. Sit on the hearth with its bearskin rug for instant warmth. No detail is overlooked! Not only was Garoga built by the owners, but the rustic details inside are original as well. Specifically built for the cabins in a small wood shop on site(in the historic Adirondack great camp tradition), nearly every Adirondack inspired table, sign, and mirror was hand crafted by your host. A genuine love of the Adirondack style is pleasantly obvious throughout both the Bear and Moose cabins. Each cabin boasts 20 foot cathedral ceilings with natural pine woodwork, a loft, skylights, and antler chandeliers. Beautifully finished pine plank flooring hand engraved with bear paw prints or oak leaves throughout(depending on which cabin you're in) add unexpected charm. Comfortable bedding and cozy new furniture offers you a relaxing and enjoyable stay. If you enjoy coffee or tea, Garoga has that covered! We supply as much as you need. If special arrangements need to be made in regards to birthdays, anniversaries, or even marriage proposals(we've had our share), your host is ALWAYS there to help make it happen flawlessly. Don't be afraid to ask. Our reviews on other sites speak for themselves as guests return year after year, season after season to the special accommodations of Camp Garoga. Come be a part of our growing family of regulars at this one of a kind cabin experience. Where as I require guests meet with me upon your arrival, my preference is to leave you alone to enjoy the coziness of the cabin. Texting is the best way to accomplish that. Most guests text me periodically throughout the day for special attention, or many times just to say hello (go figure). I want to be reachable at all times of your stay but I don't want to be 'all up in your grill'. Unless it's your gas grill and the propane needs to be replenished. Because in that case, you want me up in your grill. The cabin is located in a rural area without much foot traffic. It is a very safe place to enjoy the outdoors. Although there are bears in the area, the odds of you running into one is very rare. In 13 years I've seen 3 and only one was by the cabin. Rt 29, 29A, 10, and 30 are the best roads to get you to where you want to go. Both 29's run east and west, while 10 and 30 run north to south. Some firewood is provided for your outdoor fire pit, but if you plan on excessive use(which is fine), there are local roadside places to purchase extra campfire wood. We charge a $100 premium for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. We require a 3 night minimum for any holiday weekend.
The cabin borders 400+ acres for your leisure enjoyment with marked trails and benches along the way. There isn't anything remotely touristy about this location which allows you to be free of interruption. Camp Garoga is a high quality cabin experience at hotel prices and is a great location for complete relaxation or a "home base" for day trips. There are plenty of hiking trails within a short driving distance.

  • What an amazing and unique experience. This trip was booked as a surprise and it was nothing short of incredible. What you do is extraordinary and something everyone should experience at some point. Even in early December, 18” of snow it was no where near as cold as we expected. The treehouse was warm and cozy all weekend. We will definitely be back to see the treehouse in the summer and get good use of the beautiful outdoor space you have created. Thank you so much, the memories made this weekend will last a lifetime! - Chris & Cortney

  • This is a beautiful place to stay for a relaxing and quiet weekend. The detail of the treehouse is amazing

  • Beautiful place and perfect time. Thomas was an amazing host. The treehouse was a dream come true. I can’t recommend this experience enough. It was truly life changing.

    Andrew2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was obvious from the start that this treehouse & Thomas (super-host) was the real deal. The fun part was seeing it in person and witnessing the beauty of the surrounding area and the craftsmanship of detail up-close. I would easily recommend this experience to anyone remotely interested!

    Alex2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tom made this whole experience so easy. He met us upon check in, gave us a tour and was super responsive through the whole process. Everything was super clean and fully stocked. He has something very special and I am glad I got to visit. We will definitely be back!

    Amanda2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This treehouse adventure has been on my radar for a while, bad weather and an unexpected power outage foiled our actual stay. I will, however; rate this as a top experience because Thomas was super helpful keeping us informed of the situation and was instrumental in our speedy refund. We were able to seek proper accommodations in Saratoga, not far from the treehouse. We will hopefully return in the future to relive my childhood treehouse experiences with a lovely stay.

    Kathleen2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely incredible and unique place to stay!

    Marc2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

  • Comfortable, clean apartment in a really beautiful, private location - super convenient (~10 minute drive) to skiing at Whiteface!

    Julia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful and peaceful place. Greg is a really great host.

    Carl2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Greg’s place is great. We came up for the weekend to ski Whiteface and it’s only a 10 minute drive away and super easy to get to. The place is clean, spacious and has all the amenities you’d need (coffee, hot water, comfortable beds/sofa bed). It was absolutely perfect for a group of 3 - the pictures don’t do the place justice! Greg was available if we needed him, and we were made to feel right at home. Couldn’t recommend his place enough. During the winter snow tires/chains/4WD are advised as the driveway is long and uphill - we found out the hard way!

    Sam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Greg's place is amazing! Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel as though they're in the woods, but not missing any modern amenities.

    Jennifer2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, comfortable place to stay. Much better than the pictures. There were no pictures of the bathroom which turned out to be large and modern. Everything in the apartment was top notch from furniture to dinnerware. We will definitely return!

This tiny, magical, rustic, cabin is situated overlooking a large pond on a private property of 200+ acres. Though the cabin is very small (about 10x12 ft with an upstairs sleeping loft) it is quaint and lovingly made with hand split cedar shingles and locally harvested wood. There is an outhouse and no power/running water, but a 5 gallon cooler of spring-fed drinking water is provided.
This cabin looks like a fairy tale - nestled beneath tall Scotch pines and though small - well equipped. It has a single cot on the main floor and there are two large camping pads in the upstairs loft. Make no mistake - this is camping - but in a delightful setting.
This is a large, private property, mostly forested with a few open meadows. It is paramount that our guests respect the privacy of the other inhabitants on this property. There are trails on the property available for use - if you find yourself near someone's dwelling area please give them space and be considerate.
  • The Tiny Cabin was so cute and wonderful! The lake right outside was an awesome thing to wake up to. It was a little difficult keeping the fire going through the night but that's because I went alone. There was a lot of ice on the walk to the cabin, so be careful! Otherwise, 10/10 amazing experience, and I'll definitely come back again sometime. Pots/pans/utensils and more were provided, even a teapot!!! I highly recommend staying here!

    Olive2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This rustic tiny cabin was the perfect getaway from it all. Accurately described, simple, and peaceful accommodations. We stayed in the winter for the 15 minute drive to Gore Mountain. Would love to come again for the summer season.

    Christy2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Was so nice the first time we had to come again! Wood stove is super cozy and we would come back in a heart beat in any season! Perfect location for visiting Gore Mountain. Since this is winter its of note that you may need snow tires/chains to reliably get around after heavy snow. After coming a few times I would also recommend a headlamp/nice lantern for extra lighting options. (Many are provided, but I preferred my gas burning lantern) Many thanks to Margarete for being a great hostess! The cabin is thoughtfully cleaned and stocked each time we've visited!

    Ben2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Margarete’s place is where you can find serenity and gratitude for the simple things in life. We enjoyed exploring the woods, sledding down a hill, journaling under snow frosted trees, the warmth of the wood stove, and just simply observing nature. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful part of the Adirondacks.

    Jacob2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny cabin is wonderful and cozy. The trails on the property made for fantastic winter hiking and beautiful surroundings. My friends and I had a relaxing and fulfilling time here.

    Hannah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication

    Alfredo2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely magical escape. We had a great time exploring the winter wonderland with our pups. Very grateful for the crampons that were so kindly provided in the cabin and for the wonderfully maintained private hiking trails.

    Anna2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Margarete’s Tiny Cabin, set back in the woods beside a small lake was the epitome of peacefulness. The cabin itself, while limited in amenities, makes up for that by being an inviting and cozy space. The setting could not be better, on the shore of a serene small lake with access to beautiful forest trails. For those looking to get away and unplug (literally), a more perfect location could not be found. This is a place I would return to again and again, any season.

  • Patti’s place was wonderful, and a great value ! A great location, it included kitchen, bathroom with a great shower, cozy living room, and a loft. Very family friendly, would be great to stay at with kids. Our favorite part was the wood burning stove, it made for a nice atmosphere and heated the place nicely- especially since we were there when the weather was almost -20F! Overall very spacious, clean, and provides everything you need for a stress-free stay. Would highly recommend.

Welcome to Camp Stardust! Relax in ultimate privacy, rekindle romance and enjoy the great outdoors, wildlife and views from this unique waterfront cabin. TEMPORARY COVID note: so sorry to say that we have suspended all new reservations for March, April and May. Will update as the situation evolves. We are taking reservations beyond that, as we do believe this too shall pass. Be safe.
This is a back to nature experience in an exceptionally comfortable home. Sightings have been otter, beaver, loons, owls, eagles, bear, deer, coyote and a moose has been heard (but not seen - yet). Hiking, kayaking, snowmobiling, downhill and x country skiing nearby. Camp Stardust comes with 4 kayaks and a canoe in warm weather. 2 sets snowshoes in winter. We do get fully booked up here (lots of repeat guests!). If you can't find availability that works for you, please see our other listings, we have 6 rental houses in the area, all unique and very nice. Camp Stardust has 500 feet of private waterfront with dock and boathouse. The sight of the morning fog lifting off the lake is worth the early rise. At night we turn off the lights, turn on the fire and enjoy the refllection of the moon off the lake. Wildlife sightings are a common bonus. This camp has 2 bedrooms, one queen bed, one double. One bath (shower only), an outdoor shower (in the warmer months), indoor propane fireplace, outdoor firepit, full kitchen, weber grill, good wifi, 40" flat screen for DVD's and netflix movies (but no cable). NO CELL service so we have a landline. The reading/tv room has gorgeous views of the lake for those lazy, hazy days. WINTER The inside of Camp Stardust is like being inside a snow globe. It's all windows, so snowstorms are an amazing experience here. A unique feature is that the lake doesn't freeze (it's moving water), so there are water views and wildlife year round. Otters are our favorite. We supply a list of local hikes, ski resorts, snowmobile rentals, restaurants and other attractions. PLEASE NOTE: An all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate the woodsy driveway from Nov - Apr during snow season. SPRING, SUMMER, FALL: Lots of lakes, rivers and mountains to hike to and explore, or take advantage of our incredible location directly on the best kayaking spot. Kayak 10 minutes to the right to Lake Piseco where you can enjoy a swim in the clear water with sandy bottom. If you are an experienced kayaker, 30 minutes to the left is remote Big Bay Lake - this may require a carry over some rocks dependent on level of water at the time (level changes daily), but that is gorgeous as well. The Boathouse provides very easy access to the 4 kayaks and one canoe, so no need to carry them anywhere. Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, but is amazing for kayaking and seeing fish and wildlife. Boats available May 10-Oct 30. MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN This is a no parties, no smoking, no pets, allergy sensitive household. Due to our close proximity to the water, we have limited septic and well capacity, so we have a strict 4 person limit on the property at all times. We do our best to keep a pristine and comfortable home for our guests, we are sure even the most discerning will be happy. This is an exceptionally private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200ft dirt driveway directly off Rt 8. There is a small bridge nearby that separates the outlet (where we are) from Piseco Lake, and you can hear (but can't see) the cars going over the bridge, which is the only thing we would change if we could. Our minimum stay varies throughout the year...please send exact dates and we will let you know the policy for that time of year. Rates range from $160 night (midweek off season) to $360 night (weekend in summer). Put dates in to see what the rates are. Housekeeper works Mon and Fri only June through Oct - so all arrivals and departures have to be on one of those days during that time. Winter we are a bit more flexible. Minimum age to rent is 25 years of age unless otherwise approved or with a parent.
Hamilton County was officially designated "Frontier Land" by the Federal Government due to it's vast wilderness and sparse population. It is stunningly beautiful in all seasons with great outdoor exploration opportunities. Piseco has limited entertainment venues - just outdoor beauty, lakes, rivers and mountains. Speculator has shops, grocery, restaurants and is 15 minute drive - still limited however.
  • What a magical place. We loved our four nights at the cabin. Even with a blizzard outside we stayed warm and cozy, staring at the beautiful scenery outside. Maura was very helpful, advising us on how to get there in the snow, and the great communication made check in very easy. We had a great time, especially borrowing the snow shoes and going for a walk through the winter wonderland outside.

  • Idyllic retreat with incredible views and homely touches. Had a fantastic stay.

    Dominic2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Stardust is absolutely perfect! If you are looking to escape society for a few days then this is the place. We expected a nice remote cabin by the lake but what we didn’t expect was how impeccably clean, comfortable and convenient the cabin was! It was stocked with everything from dish soap and utensils to board games and blankets. You do not need to bring anything besides the food you are planning to cook! There is not a store nearby so make sure to bring with you what you plan on eating (we stopped at a Walmart along the way and stocked up on food and drinks) . Our stay was lovely and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic getaway!

    Elma2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean, easy directions, beautiful views in the winter. It was comfortable and warm and has extremely comfortable couches with great wifi and Sonos sound system.

On our 60 acre nature sanctuary at Wellnesste Lodge and named in honor of Jane Goodall for the amazing work she's done in the name of conservation. Our treehouse is the perfect place to getaway from it all. Set in our pine forest, the treehouse has two stories with an open air 2nd story balcony, reading nook, kitchenette & sleeping loft (up a small ladder). This is a semi-rustic treehouse has electricity & heat and in addition you have access to a detached full bathroom with shower.
We have 1/2 mile of private river frontage, hiking trails, a volleyball court, fire pits, two spring fed ponds, free range chickens, friendly rescue mutts and more to enjoy here during your stay.
We're in the country on a very quiet setting of 60 private acres with river frontage.
  • The treehouse cabin was wonderful! Nice and rustic design made it great to escape the modern world.

    Cameron2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most interesting and fun places we’ve ever stayed!!

    Hannah2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting with exceptional hospitality! Would highly recommend for a getaway!

    Jennifer2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • One of my absolute favorite cabins I’ve visited! From the fairy trails to the sounds of the river, everything was absolutely magical! Despite the cold weather, we couldn’t of possibly been any cozier inside with the heater! Couldn’t ask for a more perfect stay.

    Courtney2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Christophe is a very gracious and accommodating host, and the treehouse was absolutely lovely. It's small, cozy feel was exactly the retreat I needed.

    Danielle2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy environment. We highly recommend staying at Wellnesste. The tree house was well heated, very clean, and came with all the right tools to cook meals. There is no running water in the cabin but, we’re restaurant people so using bottled water was not an issue. And we melted snow when necessary. Showering and running water is available at the main house, and that facility is very clean. We were quite comfortable using that bathroom in the main house. There’s a fire pit just a few steps from the treehouse, and tons of fire wood is available for purchase. There is a charge for the fire wood but, it’s very reasonable. The grounds are amazing. Truly amazing. There’s a strong stream a short walk from camp, you can hear the stream like strong wind through the trees. And the grounds are groomed but, remain very natural. If you’re the type to enjoy “off the grid” this is one step above that, think “glamping.” Lastly; the treehouse is supported by 6 trees. The trees gently sway in the wind, and you’ll hear them creaking. The host referred to this as the “trees taking,” and I loved that analogy. For me, I imagined us high in the tree canopy. It’s a magical experience. The treehouse itself does not sway, it’s a sound and stable structure. Take heed of the hosts advice. If it’s winter, do come with a 4 wheel drive or a vehicle with all wheel drive. There are two parking lots available, one is easier to access with a standard car or crossover, while the lower lot can be difficult in fresh snow if your vehicle is not setup for the weather. Don’t be afraid to drive here, just be smart and check weather reports. Enjoy this vacation and unwind. You owe it to yourself.

    Ryan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really couldn’t have dreamed up a better winter weekend retreat than the one we just had at Wellnesste. The treehouse is picture-perfect with the most thoughtful touches and everything you need. There’s a few games that are provided in the cabin and we ended up teaching ourselves how to play mancala and now we’re hooked! Spent some time walking the grounds, exploring the local area, and enjoying time away from chaotic lives in the cabin. Christophe was super friendly and accommodating and full of local tips. We checked out a local ski area via his recommendation and enjoyed some live music and bar fare! Thanks again so much, we’ll be back!

  • our second stay here...perfect location in Lake Placid we had to leave a night early, COVID-19 related. certainly without need to, Angela credited us that night for the next time we come!

    Stacey2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is wonderful. Amenities are in perfect condition. Easy access to the Mirror lake through back door. Highly recommended!

  • It is a special romantic place to stay in Lake Placid. The location, the decor, the vibe, the accessibility make for an epic Lake Placid experience. Definitely our favorite spot to stay in Lake Placid.

  • We had such an incredible weekend! This home is situated in the ideal location within town and the amenities were perfect. The home was incredibly clean and had everything you could need. The bed was beyond comfortable and the bathroom was a spa like experience. We can’t wait to come back!

    Kristen2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third time staying at one of Angela’s properties and we’re so glad we did! There weren’t any guests staying before or after us so Angela offered early check in and late check out which worked out perfectly with out plans. She also left a lovey welcome note and gift. The bed is very comfortable, the apartment has all of the amenities needed for an enjoyable stay and the shower and heated bathroom floors are lovely for the winter! We’ll definitely be staying here again!

  • Great location, within walking distance to dining, shopping, attractions. Very comfy little apartment overlooking Mirror Lake! Highly recommended!!

  • This gorgeous apartment is a vacation in itself. The bathroom rivals the Four Seasons NY and my, gosh! Location, Location, Location! French doors lead to the lake and the King size bed is amazing. Everything you could need is on Main Street, but you may find yourself never leaving home. That’s what it feels like. Home. ❤️

    Carrie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy apartment right on Mirror Lake. My husband and I spent two nights. The apartment was clean, the shower was amazing. You can walk right out the back door to the lake. It was also right on the main strip with bars, restaurants, and shops. We loved that you could just walk on the frozen lake. We walked to the toboggan chute at night. It was an awesome stay. Hopefully we’ll be back.

Spectacular views! Enjoy waking up everyday to the wildlife and one of THE BEST views in the Adirondacks! 3 Bedrooms, 1 bath. Open kitchen/ Great room, wood fire, deck, BBQ grill and a fire pit for a bon fire and s'mores! This rental is for a private room with USE OF the majority of the house. The owners (my husband and myself) DO LIVE in the house, but try to give our guests as much privacy as possible.
Spectacular views! THREE 3 BEDROOMS each have their own bed: 1 King, 1 Queen, 1 twin size trundle. 1 hallway bathroom for your family or group to use. The open kitchen / Great room, wood fire, and wrap around deck are SHARED with the owners (my husband and myself), but never with other guests) Enjoy being entertained by wildlife (deer, geese, turkeys, turtles, birds) and the ever changing seasons. The perfect HOME AWAY FROM HOME to spend your vacation or just one night as you travel through the area.
The land has been family owned for over 100 years. My husband built this house with trees he cut from the property. We are located on the outside of town away from all the street lights and busyness. Which also means that there are no stores within walking distance and our local hometown grocery / deli closes at 9pm. For us that is not a bad thing, it just means we have to plan ahead. We are not located at a trailhead, but we are centrally located to travel to many of the area hiking destinations. This is the perfect setting to see the open space of the field, trees, mountain ranges, and the sky. Several of our guests have recently commented that there is no noise or light "pollution" which creates the perfect spot to listen to nature and observe the stars! I hadn't really thought of it like that before, I just enjoy it everyday :)
  • Great place and close to Whiteface.

  • Merri has a lovely home with a breath-taking view of the mountains. A gorgeous and peaceful setting. Her home is spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and well appointed! It was perfect for our group ... but we honestly didnt want to leave. Merri was great at communicating and checkin arrangements were easy to coordinate. Thanks Merri!

    Catherine2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and comfortable space, great location and views. Would highly recommend!

    Sam2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home with astonishing view of the high peaks across a snowy field, without another building in sight. We scarcely crossed paths with our accommodating hosts (they were almost too respectful of our privacy!), but when we did they were warm and gracious.

    Andrew2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We came up to ski at the nearby Whiteface Mountain and had a wonderful time. Merri's place was as nice as the pictures looked. It's a lovely, comfortable place and she was a lovely host. The rooms were spacious and the muffins she made for our visit were delicious. You do have to share the big living room and kitchen area, but she largely left us alone. She also was very helpful suggesting local restaurants. I highly recommend staying with her.

    Elliot2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, scenic location. Close to Lake Placid. Host friendly. Clean. Comfortable beds.

    Janet2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay. This was our first Airbnb experience and Merri and Joe made our stay easy and welcoming. They had the fire rolling and everything was all laid out nicely. There was a note next to the door outside and one inside explaining everything we needed to know. We had 6 people but it didn't feel crowded at all. Each couple had their own room to sleep in. The views outside were stunning. If you use their Chromecast make sure the TV is on input 3. She was going to add that to the instruction book (we laughed about it after we figured it out). That's the only thing I couldn't figure out at first. Thanks Merri and Joe, 10/10 perfect stay.

    Kevin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Merri is a great host! She baked delicious muffins in the morning for us, and always made sure there was enough wood in the fire to keep us cozy and warm. Excellent amenities in the kitchen for us to make food and location is great if you’re planning on heading to whiteface to ski. Thanks again!

Our Hobby Farm Cottage is perfect for the traveling horsemen, the solo adventurer, the couple, or the small family looking to get away. Our guests have described it as delightful, quaint, cozy, and complete with expected and unexpected amenities.
My wife and I purchased the farm in 2015 with hopes of creating a place where we could grow our own food, raise animals, board horses, and just enjoy nature. It all sounded so magical in our heads...(insert 'screeching halt' noise). Little did we know how much work was involved! It's certainly been a labor of love, but slightly more labor than love:) The cottage was already built but was in dire need of a facelift if I was ever going to convince my wife to live there. Well... 9 months after the renovation got underway, our first child was also underway. As much as my wife liked the new cottage, it wasn't passing the "nesting" test. So here we are, sharing our cottage and our farm with the world via Airbnb. It's been a great 2 years with so many wonderful guests. What we hear most often from our guests is how "cozy" it is and how much they enjoy the unique/rustic decor mixed with modern and plentiful amenities. It is far from perfect and a work in progress, but as we've learned, that is the definition of life on a farm.
This property is in a great spot. 20 minutes from Lake George, 20 minutes from Saratoga with countless hiking, skiing, camping, boating, and outdoor activities all around. Please see my guidebook for more details.
  • We had to cancel our anniversary trip to Chris’ farm last minute because of the COVID outbreak, but Chris and Kristi were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. They answered all our questions promptly and seem so kind, genuine, and helpful. Kristi even arranged a lovely meal for us in advance of our trip. They were also understanding about the last minute cancellation. We look forward to staying with them in the future!!

    Julia2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience at the cottage. Chris and Kristi are very nice and accommodating. The cottage was clean and adorable! We loved the fresh eggs and the hot tub. The location was great. Close to Saratoga and Lake George and is a quick drive to each. I would definitely recommend staying at the Cottage! And we hope to go back this summer.

    Stephanie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean and cozy. Excellent communication, and amazing hospitality. Felt really welcomed and had a very relaxing and rejuvenating time. Hot tub was awesome, as were the chicken pot pies!

    Sarah2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at this farm cottage! It was cozy and unique, and we enjoyed relaxing by the pellet stove and soaking in the hot tub. Our stay was short so we didn't get a chance to really experience the farm.

  • Highly recommend. Would definitely stay again!

    Kristopher2020-03-10T00:00:00Z

  • Really nice spot--charming, cozy, and comfortable. The great room with woodstove is amazing. This place is the perfect spot for those with dogs as there is a private entrance and plenty of space. Heating by woodstove was great. We'll plan to return. Thanks!

  • The barn brought us warmth and wholesome memories. You will enjoy the area, the comfort of the barn and Ben (thier dog). Everything you could ask for was provided. Enjoy your stay and relax!

    Joshua2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for one night, but this place far exceeded our expectations. The refurbished barn was beautiful, clean, and homey, and Loraine was a very kind and helpful host.

    Kelly2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • As our first BNB experience, this will be the place we compare all the future BnB stays to, and this has set the bar pretty high. I can say that this is most definitely a great place to stay during the winter, and I’m looking forward to coming back as a regular, during the winter and summer. The reconstructed barn was wonderfully built and delightfully decorated. Everything was tasteful and up-kept with no neglect. With your first step in, you feel comfortable enough to take your shoes off and walk around as if you were home. Many places to hike, a lot of nature to take in, close by fishing areas, and areas for a snowmobile, it doesn’t fall short of things to do outside. Even inside, the house was equipped with multiple things to do, the last night we spent reading a joke book and just laughing until we fell asleep in front of the fire. The hosts were amazing. Friendly and the hospitality was great. It was really nice seeing them and talking to them a lot, getting to know new people. They will definitely be getting a Christmas card from me. The dog and chickens were one of my favorite parts of being there as well. Overall A+

    Tara2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough positive words we could tell about Lorraine, Dean and their son Luke. The house is absolutely wonderful, huge, cozy and super clean. It is a perfect spot to relax. Our car broke down when we got there and Dean and Luke spent basically the whole weekend fixing it (they have all the tools you can imagine and they can fix anything!), helping us to get the new parts etc. while Lorraine was providing us with fresh eggs and amazing homemade food. They really went above and beyond and we will never forget their hospitality. A huge thank you to the whole family for having us and sorry for ruining your weekend.

    Jon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

    Mike2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine's place is the perfect cozy getaway! It was wonderful to unplug and sit by the woodstove, wake up in the loft to the sun bathing the gorgeous wood and glass-blown baubles, and wander the trails around the property! We had a great stay!

  • This place is breathtaking. I wish we could have spent more time here and we definitely plan on coming back. Chris was so easy to communicate with and i really appreciate that! All around this place is a 10 and if you get a chance to stay i highly recommend it!

    Brittany2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at the cabin for my birthday weekend and were not disappointed. It is a beautiful space that is warm and cozy and perfect for a restful getaway. Although close to the main road, you still feel tucked away in the woods. The fireplace is a really lovely touch and the owner brought us an extra wine glass right away when informed we only had one which was greatly appreciated. Minor issues include there being barely any coffee left (would have been nice to have some available for the morning) and the fact that the tv service was spotty so we could not really watch tv. This was minor inconveniences however as there is a store nearby and we were able to watch Netflix through the WiFi on our laptop. I do wish there was the option for blinds on entrance doors since you’re in few of it when sitting on the couch and it would offer a greater sense of privacy but again these are all minor and don’t significantly take away from the stay and the quality of this place. We would definitely recommend this place to others.

    Elen2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Chris is a great host and the cabin is BREATHTAKING. The detail and design that went into this A frame are amazing, I want to build one just like it!! This cabin is a MUST SEE. My boyfriend and I spent 3 amazing nights enjoying the fresh air and relaxing, we hardly left the house! We definitely want to come back in the fall to see the foliage and enjoy the stars on the pull out bed. :) Thank you again Chris and family!!

  • If you are looking for a great little getaway, this is it. The Evergreen A-frame Cabin is absolutely gorges and facilitates a sense of peace and restoration. It’s a great place to “come home to” after a day of hiking or an evening out. Be ready to have your stress melt away. Chris is truly a super host and we can’t wait to come back to Evergreen Cabins.

    Nairobi2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Chris’ place was absolutely lovely. The check-in process was seamless and Chris was communicative throughout our stay. The home has everything you could ever need and is beautiful and cozy inside and outside. It’s a nice mini-break from the city and still a short drive into town if that’s what you’re looking for. I would 100 percent recommend staying at the a-frame and I’m already looking forward to visiting again in the summer!

    Avery Erica2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Chris is easy to communicate with and responds quickly. The cabin is absolutely spotless, and beautiful to look at. We LOVED all the natural light from the amazing windows, and the shower is gorgeous too. The bed is comfortable and cozy, and looking out the window by the head of the bed is such a nice experience. We visited with a bunch of snow on the ground, and everything was maintained well and the cabin stayed cozy the whole time (especially in front of the easy to operate fireplace!) We were already planning a trip back before we even left.

    Kristina2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had such a relaxing stay here! The place was clean, cozy and perfect for a mid winter getaway. Loved the binder filled with things to do. We will have to come back in the spring to use the window opening up on the deck with the bed and also I’m sure more local restaurants will be open in the area. Totally recommend this place.

This is a perfect spot for year round use as a solitary mediation retreat, winters in particular, or a space to enjoy the outdoors with limited access to people and the hustle and bustle of city life. 3 miles away is the owners farm house with shower/laundry facilities and a warm welcome if you need. We are pet friendly.
We are secluded with a reasonable sized town (Gouverneur) 7 miles away with a grocery store and restaurants. However this cabin is more suited for people who want to immerse themselves into the seclusion of the area. This is a great jumping off point to the 1000 Island region as well as Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake as well as Lake Placid and the High Peaks Region.
  • A wonderful rugged escape! Staying at the cabin is a bit like camping without the tent, but if you’re looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway without electronics and distractions, this is it! What’s more, the host was lovely and welcoming. Be sure to try the farm-raised eggs and meat! As stated in the listing, there’s no electricity. Great for us, but good to know what you’re signing up for! Overall amazing weekend and we will be back.

  • Overall excellent trip! Absolute privacy and beautiful scenery. And off grid experience to return to nature

    Andreas2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We so enjoyed our time in both the cabin and surrounding land! We brought a ton of extra clothes but didn’t need them, despite the freezing February temperature. Many lanterns were provided and the beds were warm and comfortable. Meat and eggs from the farm were delicious! This is a beautiful setting for watching the sunset from the porch or exploring the woods, clearings and nearby river bank by day. Check-in and -out were easy; Chad was quick to respond before we arrived and lovely to meet.

  • Amazingly peaceful getaway!

    Haley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect 2 nights we had at this little hideaway! Everything was perfect and so much more then we could ask for! Chad was so helpful even before we arrived! The property is just like Chad has explained in the right up! It is rustic and beautiful we will be going back soon!

    Deb2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing stay! It was such a beautiful space on such a nice property, you can tell they really care about their cottage. Chad kept in contact and made sure we had no problems throughout our stay. The hospitality we were shown was incredible! I would highly recommend this property, make sure to pick up some eggs or meat too when you are there :)

  • Chad and Jason’s place is an amazing getaway. We visited in January, and were lucky to get almost 10” of fresh snow when we arrived! The wood stove was able to toast the place up nicely and kept us warm all weekend. The kitchen was perfect for what we needed and the basic amenities and rustic nature were exactly what we were looking for. No running water, no electricity and no heat other than the stove was perfect. It really gave us a chance to disconnect from our hectic lives and find some serenity in nature. We hope to be back soon!

    Brian2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a completely gorgeous, very secluded little retreat, especially wonderful for folks looking to unplug and reconnect either with themselves or their partners. Me and my wife loved sitting in front of the very cozy wood-burning stove, watching the fire snap and crackle. I wasn't sure at first if the stove would really heat the whole space, especially since it was 30 degrees F outside, but within the first hour or so of arriving we had the place warmed up, and once it got toasty, it stayed cozy for three days as long as we kept a log on the fire. It is unbelievably quiet out on the front porch with a cup of coffee. The generator was easy to use, but we only really flipped it on a couple times after dark for a brief bit of extra light. Host is super-kind and quick to respond. Breakfast sausage: yummy. Farm eggs: off the hook. Just come here you guys.

  • Amazing view. I loved the little touches as well. Things like having a little breakfast setup for visitors. Great stay. Exceptionally welcoming.

    Carter2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is exactly as described, and the view is if anything even better than described! Heating is through individual propane stoves but they work perfectly and very effectively.

  • Lovely house with an amazing view!!

    Solveil2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very outstanding accommodations. Super clean and nice. The little touches made it special. Highly recommend to others.

  • John and Rachel’s place is exactly as described, and is excellent value for money. The location is great- in the country but close (20-min, or less) to all the winter sports facilities. Although the house is located beside the highway, there was very little traffic in the evening and almost none at night. The house was spotlessly clean when I arrived. I particularly appreciated the jacuzzi after a day outdoors. It was very snowy when I was there - great for skiing, but not the best for appreciating the amazing mountain view from the home. Can’t wait to return!

    Brian2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at John & Rachel’s place really exceeded expectations! When we arrived, the house was spotless and full of thoughtful touches: snacks, necessities in the fridge, cute decor, etc. We absolutely loved the propane fireplace as the main source of heat. It was so cozy and such a nice ambience every time it kicked on. They’ve also put little electric “fireplaces” in the bedrooms, which added to the charm. The view is spectacular from almost any point in the house. We really enjoyed sipping coffee each morning overlooking the high peaks and being able to watch the sunset in the evening without leaving the house. We spent one day at Whiteface and loved the convenience of the location - it took us about 15 minutes to get there - a huge relief to get back so quick after a long, tiring day! We were also nice and close to Lake Placid, where we spent another day hopping around town. If you’re interested in visiting the high peaks area, this is the place to stay!

This is not for everyone! We offer a small and very private (heated) cabin that sits on a seasonal stream. There is no bathroom, plumbing, or electricity. There is an outhouse. It is not suitable for toddlers, as there is a stream with a steep rocky bank and a narrow bridge without a railing. Lake George (the actual lake) is 1/4 mile away as is a marina (2 closest are Castaway and Fishers). The village with public beaches (and bathhouse) is a 10 min drive. There is a hiking trail from the cabin.
Enjoy a morning stroll on the property, and afternoon seasonal activities: hiking, swimming, boating, skiing, snow shoeing, skating, an evening campfire, and a good night's sleep in a queen-sized bed.
Lake access includes the Fort Ann Town Beach, 4 miles away; the beaches in Lake George Village, about 5 miles away; and two marinas within 2 miles. There are numerous hiking options close by, including a short trail on the property, the Pilot Knob Preserve trail, 2 miles away, and the Buck Mountain trail head about 3.5 miles away. There are two ski mountains within an hour: West Mountain in Queensbury (half hour away) and Gore Mountain in North Creek (50 minutes away). Glens Falls in 11 miles. The Cleverdale Country Store offers home-made food and provides basic necessities and novelties.
  • A super cozy cabin with a water stream right next to it which makes it incredibly relaxing. Perfect for a getaway weekend. There are also lots of things to do around the area. Great time guaranteed!

  • Cathy's cabin is amazing place where you can relax and spent wonderful time close to nature.Cabin is warm so don't worry about cold weather or snow.We hand a great time in there and we definitely recommend this place.

    Katarzyna2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for anyone who wants to do a fun visit to Lake George. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time. Super cozy and beautiful stream just 10 feet away.

    Daniel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this cute little cabin for a Valentine’s Day get away and it was just what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of life! The cabin is just as described and we loved everything about it....even the outhouse! We did some shopping at the nearby outlets and some sightseeing around the nearby towns. We are already looking at dates in the future when we might be able to return! Thanks so much!

    Jessica2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy’s cabin is exactly as described! It’s a cozy quiet haven fixed on a stream. I was happy to be without WiFi and electricity for a couple days with views like that. Her cabin is also close enough to the high peaks where my boyfriend and I took the scenic drive to do some hikes! If you feel you want to shower and it’s too cold to use the stream out front, I do recommend the truck stop Sunoco, which Cathy provided directions to. All in all, I’m so pleased with this Airbnb experience!

    Sophia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time at Cathy's Cabin. My girlfriend and I stayed during a snowy weekend, and despite the cold temperatures outside, inside of cabin was cozy and warm. Watching the snow fall and listening to the stream from the porch made everything around us even more magical. The next morning, we unexpectedly found the parking area and long dirt driveway cleared away, which made it so easy for us to leave for exploration and return for rest/relaxation (thank you!). The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The outhouse was indeed the best we've ever seen and used. The proximity to Lake George Village was Glens Falls was really convenient. We hiked nearby Pilots Knob Preserve up to a frozen waterfall and ended the evening outside by the fire pit. We needed a place to relax and decompress as well as serve as a base for our outdoor adventuring, and we got exactly what we needed. We cannot wait to come back for another visit, hopefully when it gets warmer!

  • I can’t say enough great things about Ed and Rick’s yurt! My boyfriend and I came to the yurt for a weekend getaway and couldn’t be more pleased with the whole experience. We arrived and the yurt was super cozy and clean. The goats were so friendly and we had an amazing time playing with them and the rest of the animals. Ed and Rick were incredibly personable, informative and generous. We cannot wait to come back!

    Maddie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay!

    Nicole2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible space this is! Ed and Rick are wonderful hosts and really made us feel welcome. Every little detail made our stay that much more worth it. The animal friends were lovely company, and the yurt was beautifully decorated and so cozy. Having a warm breakfast dropped off in the morning was such a treat! Our hearts will be nourished for many days. We will absolutely be visiting again!

    Bre2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic way to spend a birthday weekend. From the delicious breakfast, to the goat walks through the forest, everything was wonderful. Rick & Ed were super hospitable and willing to help with whatever we needed. This was our first "glamping" trip bringing our pup, and both the yurt and farm were very dog-friendly. We can't recommend this spot enough - we'll be back for sure!

    Monica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • PROPERTY / LOCATION: First of all, this Airbnb was heaven on Earth. Hands down one of the best Airbnbs we have ever stayed in. If you're an animal lover, you will want to move in for good. The farm is in a remote area, so if you're looking to get away, this is your spot. The yurt is about 100 yards from Rick's house (the owner) so you have as much privacy as you want. We stayed in the coldest of February and the farm was covered in ice and snow making it that much more magical. The yurt itself is something out of a fairy tale. It was impeccable, from the decor, to the thoughtful touches and loaded with all the snacks! It was as cozy as cozy can be. The wood stove, kerosene heater and loads of blankets will keep the coldest of person warm. Now lets get to the animals. Cute overload for sure. They are so full of personality and so incredibly sweet. They make it extremely hard to leave. We got to name two of the baby goats while there which was such an awesome experience and made the place feel that much more like home. They roam freely around the property and come up to the yurt, so you will have endless encounters if you choose. HOST / COMMUNICATION: Rick is an incredible person as well as host. Getting to know him and hang out with him made us enjoy this place that much more. He is thoughtful, helpful, and kind. The amount of work that goes into each guest experience is top notch. He became like family to us during our stay. The yurt and animals are amazing, yes, but a host like Rick makes the experience all the better. TIPS / ADVICE: Usually this is where I would list things to do, places to go, sightseeing opportunities, etc. but honestly this place was so amazing we never left the property except to go to the grocery store once. The only thing I would add here is, during the winter there is no inside shower with hot water and to use the restroom, there is an outhouse about 30 feet from the yurt. We are totally good with this as we're experienced in this type of arrangement and it wasn't a shock. For the less adventurous traveler, camper or hiker, this may not be for you in the winter time. Its very easy to deal with and I would suggest anyone and everyone going - but if you do, know what you're getting in to so you're not wrongly disappointed.

    Todd2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed at. We needed some time to recharge and relax and that is exactly what we got. We cannot wait to come back

    Laura2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt and the farm were beautiful. Rick was an amazing host and there were so many thoughtful touches - supplies for s'mores, a Bluetooth speaker, plenty of blankets, and even breakfast waiting for us in the morning. We can't wait to come back!

    Erica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Just book it!!! It’s amazing. I was interested when I read all of the great reviews but just did not understand how it could be so good. My mind was blown this is the perfect get away!!! Ed is the best Airbnb host I have ever came into contact with!! Can’t wait to come back!!

Looking to experience staying in a cozy, rustic treehouse, tucked under a canopy of trees, listening to the whisper of the wind, watching the fireflies dance across an open field on a balmy summers night, and sleeping, nestled above it all! I also have two other cabins, and a tiny house on wheels on the property...
The treehouse is surrounded by windows, and doors, which connect you to the surrounding trees, and the magical beauty of the nature around you! The loft has a comfortable full size mattress, with crisp cotton sheets, and with the clear roof above you. You will experience the swaying of the trees, the dappled, filtered light, all right above your head... Wonderful place to dream, while sleeping, or lying awake! Take a good book, a journal, or sketchpad, and cozy up in the loft, while hearing the nature sounds surrounding you! The many birds will delight you with their songs! Treehouses bring us back to a state of childlike wonder, to memories of the simplicity of sleeping with the trees, while giving one a feeling of being nestled, and communing with all that nature begs for us to pay attention to! The treehouse is meant to keep you close to the outside...and with that, and the openness of the structure, you will be sort of camping in the trees... ** Treehouse is totally off the grid, no electricity, and no wifi...if you need to connect, you can wander over to my yurt front porch and connect. Also, I can plug your phone in if needed as well! (During the cooler months, there is a propane gas heater for your source of heat. There are also plenty of blankets... ** The treehouse has all salvaged windows, with no screening, and is very much like a glampingesque experience...bugs are minimal, but always something is present, as it is the country, and a structure, in, and surrounded by trees! ** I understand the desire, and allure, experiencing a stay in a tree house is, but I want to note a few things to consider when booking your stay. ** The treehouse is designed to keep you very close to the true tree house experience. There is a canopy of trees around and above you. So, depending on weather, the trees, during storms, rain, may cause twigs, and acorns to rain down as well on the roof! The Treehouse is just that, a house in and with the trees! Magical, delightful, full of beauty, and wonder...but, there may also be some flying pests, ie: bugs Harmless, a wonderful, and necessary part of natures web, and they, well, have their purpose. I suggest you bring what children have, a sense of wonder and amazement! If you try and enjoy the adventure, the magic, the symbiotic nature, and of natures relationship with us, your experience should then be full of delight! Enjoy the Space!! NOTE: No indoor plumbing. There is an outdoor Composting Outhouse. Toilet paper and natural hand sanitizer provided. (Please only toilet paper in toilet, anything else in trash container) Thanks! Provided in Treehouse: *Fresh well water in crocks for drinking and washing (no need to bring bottled water) * Single burner propane gas cooktop * Basic kitchen supplies provided... pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, wine/can opener. * Provide organic, fair trade coffee, teas, organic sugar, local honey, basic spices, cooking oil * Charcoal grill (must bring own charcoal) (please do not dump or discard of ashes, I will collect if needed). * Outdoor firepit (please pick up firewood...I will message you the best place for getting wood)***Outdoor fire rules due to weather, etc. is always enforced. Please put out fire in firepit with water when done. *** Absolutely no liquid fuel ever is to be used on fire for starting... *** In summer, please no DEET bug sprays! Bring along natural bug spray, or contact me and I may have some for you to purchase here as well. *** Items you may want to bring: * extra lantern or flashlight * DEET free natural bug spray * Slippers/Flip flops * Please bring your own towels * Please bring ice for provided cooler **This is an Adult Only Treehouse, due too the organic nature of railings, stairs, loft, etc...18 and older please. * Please be mindful that there is wildlife of various kinds that wander here and there through the property (on occasion, but rarely, you may encounter a tiny field mouse that may wander into the treehouse ( leave no food or crumbs to discourage, clean up cooking area. They are country mice, and always looking to gather nesting supplies... they are harmless, and more afraid of you!) **Yes, there are ticks out there! You may or may not get one on you, but check clothing and yourself... also when entering treehouse is a good idea. Just watch when walking around and I suggest staying on walking paths. *****PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: I encourage you to not to be alarmed by the occasional presence of flying pests, it is a cabin on wooded country property, and they are a part off experiencing, and being in nature! (please know that field mice are a part of country living, there is no guarantee you will never spot one...harmless, but rural life is all about co-habitating with nature. I also have two other listings, to accommodate larger groups! A total of 6 can be accommodated on the property. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1377639 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7030707 Now available!! A "Tiny House" on wheels!
My neighborhood is a quiet rural spot on a country dirt road with great, but barely ever seen neighbors. Out here everyone is busy tending to their property, be it farm animals, gardening, or just doing all the chores that are required living a rural life! If you listen you can hear the horse whinny at the landowner next door, or the sheep herd (baaa) in the back of the land! The area is teaming with wildlife. At night, the abundance of stars against the dark night sky, will amaze you! Fireflies magically illuminate the summer nights! And when it's the frogs mating season, which are abundant along the ponds edge, their chorus will sing you to sleep! Great sunsets as well! I love where I live, when there is something needed the neighbors are always ready and willing to lend a hand! And when we can we get together for some socializing, we all catch up with each others lives. Out here we respect each others privacy, but think nothing of walking up to each others door and saying hello, or asking for a hand!
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Victoria’s treehouse! What a beautiful property. It was just what we needed to get away. It was quite cold the first night, but Victoria had us set up with a propane heater which kept us warm for the most part. We were able to clean up with a wash cloth for a true off the grid experience. The outhouse was the nicest and cleanest we had ever seen. Highly recommend this place! Thanks again!

    Kristin2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful. Had a great time and the vibes were so peaceful. Ugh, take me back. We made our way during a cold October. The heat was enough although from a small heater instead of the fireplace thats regularly available (fireplace broke before we got there - hope it’s fixed soon). Recommend to anyone, more like glamping.

    Yuraimi2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was a great getaway for us. I was a little worried about the cold nights in October but there was a propane heater and warm blankets. I did not feel cold at all! It ended up being a perfect time of year to visit bc of the foliage. The treehouse was quaint and homey. Our favorite part was having breakfast in the big picture window overlooking the property. Amenities were great (it was the cleanest and best smelling outhouse I’ve ever used lol) This is not a slight in any way because once you are awake, it adds to the quaintness, but a packing tip I have is to bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. You can hear coyotes and owls at night. Otherwise, waking up to the sounds of nature was quite lovely. Thank you, Victoria, for a wonderful weekend!

    Renae2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria’s treehouse was beautiful. Perfect place to relax and get cozy. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a place to unwind and enjoy nature!

    Darla2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • I can't recommend the Whispering Winds Treehouse enough!! It was a great way to reconnect with nature all while being in the trees like a little kid. Everything is done with such attention to detail and the grounds are wild and lush and almost magical. I wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

    Courtney2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Complete relaxation.

  • The treehouse excited my expectations. Picture don’t do it justice. Perfect for our girls glamping trip. I will definitely be renting again and referring my friends to stay. Thank you Victoria for being so attentive and making sure we had everything we needed. You have a gem of a place.

Settle in, unpack, then walk 2 minutes down the quiet road to the local pub for dinner - or drive into town. Our cabin provides comfort, privacy and a convenient base for exploring nearby Saranac Lake, Lake Placid and the surrounding area. A historic ice house dating back to the early 1900s, the cabin has been renovated to feature a cozy loft, bathroom and comfortable indoor and outdoor sitting areas. We've put more photos on Instagram @adkcabin and on Faceb00k at /adkcabin.
This cabin was built in the early 1900s as an ice house for the farm and local neighborhood before refrigeration arrived the Adirondacks. It has since been renovated with a loft area and bathroom. We have continued to update the space with free wireless internet, a brand new mattress, smartphone charging station and a small kitchenette equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and electric kettle. A comfortable full-size bed is located in the loft area. The main sitting area could also accommodate extra overnight guests who bring their own sleeping bags (we provide a cot). There are chairs and a table both indoors and outdoors for eating, reading, writing or working. A lovely private porch overlooks the property and Ricketson Pond. A hammock is set up by the pond, which offers opportunities for wildlife viewing and paddling. There is a pub within walking distance that serves homestyle cooking, locally-sourced burgers and a good selection of NY craft beer. We have 24 sweet laying hens out in the barn yard if you'd like to purchase fresh eggs before you leave! This private and comfortable Adirondack cabin is the perfect base for exploring the culture of Saranac Lake and surrounding areas.
Located minutes from downtown Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, this cottage is an ideal location for visitors exploring this region of the Adirondacks who want to be in close proximity to cultural centers. Nearby food options include The Shamrock Bar & Grill and CAVU Cafe for the best breakfast around, and the famous Donnelly's Ice Cream shop two miles down the road.

  • Had a wonderful stay! The view was amazing.

  • Todd’s place is perfect for a large family or a few couples to get away. We were skiing and it’s just 3-4 mins from whiteface which was great for us. Great place to stay!

    Alex2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The home was gorgeous & the views were stunning! 20 minute drive from Lake Placid's downtown area. Only thing I would suggest - make sure to buy supplies for the home like toilet paper and paper towels - the airbnb provides limited amounts.

    Yolanda2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This house was above and beyond our expectations!! If you want a great getaway in the mountains, look no further!!!

    Jenifer2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house. Terrific location near Whiteface Mountain, beautiful views, kitchen stocked with lots of appliances and gadgets, overall very clean and private. There's a wonderful wildlife refuge just down the road with wolves and other local fauna that's worth a visit. Bring extra towels if you plan to use the hot tub or sauna or you'll run low with what's provided. Also make sure you bring staples and condiments - the host does not provide anything in the pantry.

  • Perfect place, beautiful surroundings, great host

    Carrie2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautiful and just as pictured with gorgeous views of Whiteface mountain! The house was spotlessly clean, beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms all had blow dryers which was a bonus! Todd went above and beyond as a host to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied! I would 100% stay at Todd’s place again, in fact we are already talking about staying again!

A modern, two bedroom, one bath apartment above the host's living space, with private entrance. Fully renovated, everything in this space was designed, chosen, and installed by us. We've put a lot of time and love in this space and hope you feel it. Located in a quiet family neighborhood, in the village. A short walk to dinner and shops downtown. The paved path around Mirror Lake is about 3.5 miles roundtrip, and a great morning walk. Come back and relax in the backyard by a campfire.

  • Ashley’s place is beautiful - dare I say luxurious. My family loved it and didn’t want to leave.

  • We really enjoyed staying in the airy and chic space which was very tastefully and thoughtfully designed. The complimentary teas and coffee along with the basic cooking condiments were a great addition to the kitchen stock as were the shampoo, conditioner and soap in the bathroom. Your swift responses were also much appreciated. Thanks for a great stay!

  • This space is so clean and new. It’s gorgeous. The TV is hooked up to services- you just have to sign in. Check in and check out were very streamlined. The space is also well appointed with a variety of high quality amenities- linen sheets, handsome ceramic dishes, new and fashionable spaces. I hope we can come back next year!

  • Ashley's place was awesome. we went to law placid in the winter so we could ski at Whiteface. The apartment was in a great location 10 min walk to all the restaurants. The place was clean and well decorated. I personally am an Airbnb Superhost and own 4 vacation rentals in Florida and really appreciate the care and thought Ashley put into her place. Thanks so much, Derek

  • This was a wonderful respite for the week end, I purchased it for my son and daughter in law. They enjoyed walking downtown and exploring the area. While near perfect, my grandboys are quite spirited. Their parents were happy to have a couple days to themselves.

So if our calendar shows no vacancy for this cabin, please inquire about Bear Cabin. Both cabins are identical. Think of Camp Garoga as a log cabin condo. Meticulous and affordable(priced just higher than hotels in town yet offering SO MUCH MORE!). The cabins are connected back to back to each other with Moose Cabin facing west and Bear Cabin facing east. In regards to amenities both cabins are completely separate from each other with their own driveways, private screen porch, fire-pit and gas grill. The likelihood of seeing the other guests is slim(unless you're both hiking the private 400 wooded acres with trails that start at your doorstep). There is an additional $35 jacuzzi fee for a 2-3 night stay and an $50 additional fee for 4-7 night stay. This fee is not secured through Airbnb and is due on arrival. **NEW** Because of a high demand of guests looking for snowshoe rentals we have purchased some high-end SNOWSHOES that are now available for rental. Please inquire about availability($10/day per set. $30/wk per set). We charge a $50 premium for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. We require a 3 night minimum for any holiday weekend. Guest access Cabin will be unlocked in preparation of your arrival. Moose Cabin is the left-side driveway, while Bear Cabin is the right-side driveway. Interaction with guests Texting is a great way for me to stay in contact with you. That way I am not interfering with your visit. It's important for me to meet you on your arrival. The neighborhood The cabin borders 400+ acres for your leisure enjoyment with marked trails and benches along the way. There isn't anything remotely touristy about this location which allows you to be free of interruption. Camp Garoga is a high quality cabin experience at hotel prices and is a great location for complete relaxation or a "home base" for day trips. There are plenty of hiking trails within a short driving distance. Getting around Most of your stores for shopping are located in historic Johnstown. There you will find groceries, restaurants, as well as a movie theater and a super WalMart. Other things to note For the months of July and August we require a 3 night minimum. Holidays require a $50 premium to be added(I will try to keep the calendar updated to reflect the price difference, but sometimes I do forget. I apologize in advance if this does occur.
  • This cabin is the perfect setting for a nature getaway. The trail in the woods behind the cabin is a perfect little hike. Coming back to the cabin with its thoughtful decoration and hot tub was a treat. We can’t wait to come back!!

  • This was our second time staying at one of Chris’s rentals and again he did not disappoint. We stayed at his Loons Echo rental last June and definitely influenced our decision to stay in another one of his properties. The house was extremely clean and furnished perfectly. I can’t say enough about this stay and will definitely be looking forward to coming back!

    Jeremy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Moose Cabin. The place is super clean, cozy, and cute. The highlight is definitely the hot tub (which was very clean and roomy) and the fireplace. The only con we found (and this is not the owner's fault) was that the tap water smelled very very sulfury. It was very strong, especially when showering in it. However, this did not ruin our stay, and there is not much Chris can do about it. He made sure we had good drinking water in the fridge during the stay. Would highly recommend this place!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Moose Cabin! The cabin was very inviting, clean and thoughtfully decorated! Would definitely stay again!

Keene is located in the heart of the High Peaks region. Trailheads for hiking are aplenty and close by. Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain are both just 15 minutes up the road. The Noonmark Diner is a quick drive down the road. Make a right onto RT 9 (turns into RT 73 shortly after) and keep going. It will be on the left. Open 6AM - 10 PM, 7 days a week Delicious diner food, pies, and ice cream. Cedar Run Bakery and Market is just down the street. Make a left and head over the bridge. It’ll be on the left. Open 8AM - 7PM Mon-Sat & 12PM - 7PM Sundays They sell bread, baked goods, coffee, refrigerated goods, and a plethora of all-natural household/bathroom essentials. Also sells wine and liquors. Stewarts gas station it down the road to the right. It is walkable, and has quick grab-n-go, ice cream, and coffee, as well as basic staples. Also serves beer. Open Mon - Sun 5AM - 11PM *PERFECT FOR LATE ARRIVALS* ADK Market Cafe is a quick walk. Just make a left and it’s down the block! Open Mon-Sun 7AM - 7PM Baked goods, all homemade food, coffee, and a small market. East Branch Organics is behind Stewarts down the road. They stock a variety of craft beers, wine, and liquor. Also plants! For awesome fine dining Thursday through Sunday, check out the Essex Inn in Essex, NY. They are super close to Lake Champlain and down the road from the Vermont Ferry to Charlotte. (Disclaimer: the chef is the co-host’s husband, which is probably why she knows just how awesome his food is!) Supermarkets: There is an Aldi in Saranac Lake and both Hannaford and Price Chopper in Lake Placid. All three are wonderful! Aldi is exceptional for its low prices and basic groceries. If you’re going for something super exotic (think wild mushrooms or a special cut of meat), you most likely won’t find it there. Aldi Mon-Sun 9AM - 8PM Hannaford Mon-Sun 7AM-10PM Price Chopper open 24 hours *PERFECT FOR LATE ARRIVALS* Hiking Advice: If you plan to rely on your cell phone (or other GPS), be certain the device is fully charged, take extra batteries, and turn it off when it is not in use. A number of recent rescues have been due to lost hikers that run out of power for GPS units. The best solution is to carry a map and a compass for backup and always take a flashlight to avoid using your GPS device for light. Be prepared for the weather to change! PLEASE respect wildlife and wild food. Guided adventures offer a different way to explore and learn about the area. There are several groups you can contact: Cloudsplitter Mountain Guides in Keene Valley Rock and River in Keene Adirondack Mountain Guides in Keene Alpine Adventures in Keene High Peaks Mountain Guides has very broad all-season offerings and is based in Lake Placid. During peak summer weekends, please be aware of street parking rules and avoid the residential streets in the hamlet. Cyclists: We love you! But please remember that some of these roads have high speed limits, making it dangerous for cars to have to suddenly dodge a cyclist in the road. Stick to the shoulders and keep everyone safe. Lincoln Pond is a great spot with few people and has a very nice sandy beach. It is a NY State campgound about 20 minutes away. Go through Elizabethtown and just at the eastern edge of Elizabethtown, there is a fork in the road – the right goes to Lincoln Pond. Please respect private land. Landowners are liable for swimming accidents, even when the land is posted. Owners of stream frontage own the bottom of the stream to the middle of the main water course, where they border the owner on the other side.

  • We had a great stay at the GO cottage! Cozy and just the right amount of space for two people, plus our pup. The cottage had all the necessities and our dog loved being able to play in the fenced yard. Sharon had amazing recommendations for local restaurants and perfect hikes. We ate at Salt of the Earth and the Mirror Lake Inn and hiked at Henry’s Woods, Heaven Hills, and John Brown Farm. The cottage is perfectly situated and nothing was more than a 10 minute drive away. Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks so much Sharon!

PEAK SUMMER MONTHS- From the end of June through Labor Day guests stay for minimum 7 nights. Check in on Fridays only. Airbnb calendar is confusing so please be sure your stay is from Friday to Friday, only. We have several other beautiful homes in all price ranges and sizes featured on AirBNB- check out Sweetheart, Noni's Joy, and Hiawatha too! Holiday weekends are three night minimum. We're flexible when we have last minute availability- never hurts to ask! "Sunset" is a deeply romantic getaway and serene year-round destination for writers, artists, nature lovers and all who appreciate the beauty and gentle pleasures of a quiet Adirondack lake. Located on Pleasant Lake in the accessible southern Adirondacks, "Sunset" is named for its western views from every room and three levels of sunny, furnished decks. This lovingly detailed lakefront cottage was completely remodeled and furnished with your comfort in mind. It accommodates six, with a queen master bedroom, queen sleeping loft and queen living room sleeper-sofa, and is particularly suitable for adults and older children. "Sunset's" STUNNING LAKE VIEWS, framed by magnificent pines, include two islands and the daily light show of the setting sun. Sunrise, reflected in the lake, is equally beautiful. An Adirondack swing is a romantic spot for sky-gazing. At lakeside, a ladder offers easy entry into deep, clear water. Kayaks and a canoe are available for an additional fee- there are life jackets at the house but if you require a particular size, please bring your own. "Sunset's" light, airy OPEN-PLAN LIVING SPACE includes a living room and lakefront dining room with vaulted ceilings and a full-size eat-in kitchen. A lakefront master bedroom, sleeping loft, bathroom and entry hall complete the interior. From the relaxed comfort of country antiques mixed with casual new classic furniture, to generous windows and the warm mood of vintage lighting set on dimmer switches, exceptional care went into every detail of "Sunset's" design. Floral hooked rugs soften pine floors; ceiling fans enhance lake breezes. Brand new central heat in late 2017 keeps "Sunset" toasty through Adirondack winters while a supplemental Jotul stove (the stove is propane, it is not wood fired) takes the chill off brisk spring and autumn mornings and adds a glow to any evening. The LIVING ROOM's plush sofa and rattan furniture plumped with sumptuous down cushions and cozy throws create flexible groupings for pleasant conversation and quiet entertainment. Vintage bridge lamps and sconces provide bright reading light, while a glass-topped coffee table is perfect for Scrabble or another of the classic board games we provide along with a selection of guidebooks, magazines, CD's and videos. The TV/DVD can be viewed from almost anywhere in the cottage. Sheer drapes drawn between living and dining rooms create intimate spaces or privacy for guests using the sleeper sofa. Please note there is no cable tv- you may get limited- one or two stations. The LAKEFRONT DINING ROOM radiates light from two picture windows set in sunny yellow walls. Fireplace flames, mirrored arches and a shimmering Italian chandelier add to the lake's sparkle. An antique table seats six; vintage pastel Lu-Ray dinnerware, floral Bavarian serving pieces, reproduction "French ivory" cutlery, and crystal wine and champagne glasses set a sophisticated and romantic table. Two rocking chairs are ideal for bird watching. A deck spanning the front of the cottage is furnished for warm weather al fresco dining, with a patio heater extending the season. The highlight of the FULLY-EQUIPPED EAT-IN KITCHEN, charmingly fitted with new and vintage elements, is its aqua 1950's electric range with double ovens, which inspired "boomerang" Formica surfaces. A double-basin, skirted farmhouse sink is deep enough for a lobster pot. Display shelving offers easy storage above enameled cupboards. A dishwasher makes wash-up a breeze. The refrigerator is equipped with ice maker; a cooler of local spring water supplements the drilled well. A stainless-steel gas grill is steps away outside the entrance. The kitchen is well-equipped with sharp knives, stainless pots, cast-iron skillets, handy gadgets, microwave, 4-slice toaster, blender, rice cooker. A coffee-bar by the sink offers coffee grinder and maker, electric teakettle and mugs. Bakers will love the Kitchen-Aid mixer and full complement of baking pans. A breakfast counter has vintage metal stools, freshly powder-coated in ice-cream enamels. An intimate ambiance unusual in a kitchen is created with pendant task-lights on dimmers and soft strip-lighting behind the crown molding of the low, exposed-beam ceiling. Above a pine table with press-backed oak chairs, festive baubles animate a tole chandelier. It is hard to say which is the focal point of the ROMANTIC LAKEFRONT MASTER BEDROOM - the spectacular views or the Adirondack fantasy bed. White birch trees form a canopy of branches shimmering with tiny white lights above the queen-size bed. Windows spanning three walls flood the room with light. A view-reflecting mirror, French door and sky- blue ceiling add to the feeling of being outdoors in this serene, luxuriously comfortable bedroom. Rattan chairs share panoramic views with a window seat built from an antique chest. Vintage glass feathers and flowers on a mahogany dresser continue the glittering theme of the beautifully illuminated room. Bedside tables, halogen reading lights, lamps, ceiling fan, and plush woolly white rugs complete the furnishings. A walk-in cedar closet accommodates hanging clothes for both bedroom and sleeping loft. Antique porch posts support the LAKE VIEW SLEEPING LOFT, suitable for adults or older children. Reached by a sturdy library ladder, with a curtained privacy railing (please note the railing is not structurally supportive and must not be leaned against), the cozy loft has a queen bed set against a rustic log wall, antique bedside dressers and reading lights flanking a window with whimsical pediment. The peaked ceiling, textured and sponged in an abstract swirl of sky and clouds, features a stained-glass star lantern. Luxury linens at "Sunset" include down duvets, feather pillows and soft fleece blankets. You provide sheets, pillowcases and towels. The BATHROOM features a tub with "rain" shower head, and a pedestal sink and toilet set below a mirrored wall with shelves and medicine cabinet. Amenities include a magnifying mirror and hair dryer. During the warmer months, "Sunset" offers the treat of a hot outdoor shower. The ENTRANCE HALLWAY is an all-weather mudroom, with hooks, boot-trays and bench for removing and storing outdoor gear. Because "Sunset " has a "no shoes" policy, guests are requested to wear slippers, socks or bare feet in the house. "Sunset" is a quick walk from our ample parking area off a maintained dirt road. All-wheel or 4-wheel drive or chains may be required in winter. "Sunset" is an ideal base camp for OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES IN EVERY SEASON. Swim, fish and boat from our deep, clear water-front. Hike or mountain bike on nearby trails leading to lakes, fishing streams and mountaintops. Several golf courses, and spectator sports including motocross, NASCAR and horse racing, are within easy distance. Downhill and cross-country skiing, ice-skating, ice-fishing and miles of Adirondack wilderness trails for hiking and snowmobiling are all within minutes. With no commercial facilities and few year-round cottages, Pleasant Lake feels peacefully remote; yet necessities are available nearby. Convenience stores, gas, restaurants, bars, espresso and the Sunday NY "Times" are within five miles; all the services of a city are within 20. In a region bountiful with natural beauty, historic sites, museums, antiquing, music venues and family fun, day trip destinations include Saratoga Springs, Cooperstown, Lake George, and the Albany Capital Region. "Sunset" is centrally located at the southern rim of the Adirondack Park, just a four hour drive from Boston, Montreal, Buffalo and New York, 80 minutes from Albany International Airport. "Sunset" accommodates a maximum of 6 guests at all times. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Sunset has a NO SHOES policy: bring slippers or flip-flops for indoor use. Bedding, blankets and pillows are provided. Please bring your own sheets & towels. Visit our website for an extensive photo album, guest book and regional tourism information.
Peaceful, quiet, serene, gorgeous. Sunset is not in the middle of the Adirondacks with no neighbors, but it is relatively secluded and quiet.
  • This cottage was so dreamy! Great amenities, picturesque location, immense privacy, and the cutest decor.. a perfect Valentine's day getaway. If you go in the winter, be prepared for lots of snow and ice, freezing temps, and not a lot of local things to do. We just snuggled up with some hot toddies, played chess, and watched movies all weekend - which was honestly so restorative! FYI - the roads were well maintained and we didn't have any trouble making it to the house. We were also able to do an awesome hike at Kane Mountain on our way out, which I recommend checking out if you have the time and energy (and don't mind snowy hikes). Thanks Aimee and Romy for maintaining a lovely, clean, and cozy space. Highly recommend!!

  • This was my fourth year at Sunset, and it’s always a getaway I look forward to. The cabin is a cozy oasis that truly makes you feel like you’re visiting another version of home. Comfortable country chic - get snowed in during the Adirondack winters (like I do), or take a splash into the lake during the heat of the summer. Either way, you’ll leave with wholesome memories and a yearning to return.

    Stampie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time. Extremely cozy, warm and tranquil.

    Aaron2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The space is extremely clean and well maintained. You will not be disappointed with the cottage itself or the location. The view of the lake from every window can't be beat! The host also has little notes and tips all over the cottage which is super cute and helpful! Will definitely visit this cottage again.

    Cheyenne2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is the perfect getaway destination. I was able to turn my phone off and enjoy the quiet and nature.

    Elizabeth2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Sunset cabin is a gem - it's located in a quiet area and the views of the lake did not disappoint! If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and don't mind having very limited service/wifi as is mentioned in the description, this is the place for you. The inside of the cabin feels very cozy and has everything you might need for a getaway. In the winter months, just watch your feet as there may be some ice between the parking spot and down the pathway to the cabin. Highly recommend!

    Madlen2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had an absolutely amazing weekend! As beautiful as the photos of the home are, it is even more so in person! And the name “Sunset” couldn’t better describe the evening views you have; whether through the large bay window or on the wooden swing right on the lake. Aimee was also incredibly easy to communicate with and they provided everything you could think of, right down to little suggestion and info notes placed around the cabin. Would love to have a second trip and will definitely recommend to others.

    Ryan2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautiful home to stay in! It was peaceful and quiet, and the perfect place to disconnect and relax. The space is very homey and inviting with lots of thoughtful touches. The view from the living room just can’t be beat! I’d recommend this home to anyone looking for a remote, quiet place to stay.
