Places to stay in Alberton
Experience Montana in this precious log cabin, complete with wood stove and forest views. Hike, snowshoe, watch wildlife, grill hot dogs at the outdoor fire circle by the creek, or stay in and have a glass of wine while watching Dances with Wolves. Take a conscious rest from your busy day to day. Retreat into nature's quiet for an earth friendly stay. The cabin is shared with our sewing room, where we sew tepee's, & during your stay you will have privacy. We look forward to hosting your stay!
Close to hiking, fishing, cross country skiing, Lolo hot springs, and lots of wildlife, Sanctuary farm is a gem of a get-a-way in Northwest Montana. Take a farm tour of the gardens, milk goats and chickens, enjoy the beautiful creek, and forest bath on the property or the adjacent National Forest. The kitchen area has a refrigerator, toaster oven, hotplates, crockpot, coffee pot, coffee fixings, pots and pans, plates and whatnot. The toilet is a composting toilet (the area has a fan that keeps the air fresh). The space is heated in winter with a wood stove and space heaters. Also, check out our yurt! https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/33197569?s=67&shared_item_type=1&virality_entry_point=1&sharer_id=210591153 If you need more space than just the cabin, book the yurt too!
We are on the edge of the national forest, and pretty far out in the woods. We have a lot of wildlife - deer, turkeys, squirrels, coyotes, grouse, and elk one ridge over.
  • Fantastic “get away” cabin! Perfect if you’re just traveling through the state or as a destination! 100% would recommend this cabin!

  • What a phenomenal place to unplug and find rest, Sanctuary Farms has been a blessing! Matt and Liz are wonderful people with great hospitality! I recommend this place to all and give it a AAA+ rating! Thank you

  • This is the coolest Airbnb we have stayed at hands down. We really enjoyed our short stay here. We booked that morning and they allowed us to bring our 2 dogs which really saved us some trouble with finding a house sitter. Love the location. We have been inspired to move to the area now. Unfortunately was unable to meet Liz but hopefully we will next time we come through! (:

    Rhiannon2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Liz and Matt thanks for letting us stay at your great place! We appreciated how the cabin was able to accommodate all four of us (2 adults, 2 kids) and loved getting a chance to see the baby goats and the cool property you have! Our only regret is not getting to spend more time there as we had to drive on to Big Sky!

    Christopher2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is super cozy and clean and the hosts are great! This is exactly what I was looking for as a getaway for Valentine's day. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay and more! Definitely get the Waffle Sourdough sandwich, it is amazing!

This 28-foot 1963 Airstream Ambassador named "Tammy" is clean with comfortable amenities. Located on our food and flower farm - Crescent Ridge Farm, the Airstream is in a private area and offers views of the river and our majestic valley. We set up a private yard for you with shade trees, chiminea and a patio. While visiting, enjoy a stroll through the one acre flower and vegetable garden, walk the road viewing the river, or simply sit back and watch the wildlife pass you by.
The Airstream includes hot water, bathroom facilities, air conditioning, heater, refrigerator, TV/DVD, and stereo. Comfortable bedding enhances your stay. The Airstream has many original vintage features. For those with a flair for vintage and eclectic, this is the place for you. Your private patio area is a prime spot to enjoy meals while enjoying views of the river and sunset. The patio also has a chiminea for fires (sometimes unavailable due to fire restrictions). The river is accessible a short 1. 5 miles down the road at the fishing access. Need more space? Inquire about the Airbnb unit located in the lower level of our house.
  • Our stay in the vintage airstream Tammy was lovely. The setting is gorgeous, especially with the fall colors in full effect. It was so fun hearing the chickens peck around outside, and walking along the garden path was relaxing. The trailer itself is well appointed and comfortable. We had everything we needed for a night in Montana.

    Patricia2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place!

    Dave2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful location! The pictures in the listing don’t do the location justice. I did not know what to expect for comfort levels of the beds, and they were substantially better than I would have expected! It was fun to see the chickens as we pulled up. If you’re interested in finding an ultra-unique location to stay...this is it!

    Ontario2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice stay in Tammy the Airstream. The only problem was that we only had one night - not enough time to really explore the area. I guess we'll have to come back! Despite an early cold snap and dusting of snow overnight, we stayed nice and toasty in Tammy's warm embrace. Tammy is in a beautiful setting and surprisingly quite while still convenient to the interstate. Check in and out was a breeze too. We hope to come back again soon.

    Brendan2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in the airstream! It was so cute, cozy and warm. Plus, the views are amazing! We will definitely stop by again.

    Peyton2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was out first visit to Montana. We wanted to show our children life outside of the big city. The hosts went above and beyond what was required to make our stay an unforgettable experience. The location is just perfect. We stayed one night, travelled north and then returned for a second night a couple days later. We can’t return soon enough to “get lost” once again!

    John2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful, cozy place with gorgeous surroundings this is the place! Tammy is definitely the most unique place we have stayed in. We were traveling with our two dogs and fit comfortably inside. We were able to sit by a fire while enjoying a view of the landscape and sounds of the chickens. We would recommend this place!

    Jilissa2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This location is a must see!! Adorable vintage airstream with everything you need and gorgeous views!! I loved the interaction with the farm dogs and the chicken and picking sunflowers for the table by the fire!!

  • Our family of five had a wonderful two night stay at Jana’s place. The surroundings are beautiful and the home was very comfortable. It was a lovely surprise to arrive to find a fire going and cookies, chocolate, and (still warm!) cranberry scones waiting in the kitchen. Jana was kind enough to show our kids the animals and her art work. It’s an easy drive to Missoula and the Bison Refuge. We would definitely stay here again.

Our historic ranch house was built in 1907 on the Clark Fork River 30 minutes west of Missoula, Montana It's great for folks who don't want to stay in town but aren't too far away, either. The ranch sits on a bend of the river footsteps away from rafting and kayak access to the Alberton Gorge. It is also a great location for fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking, cycling and photography.
The accommodations are RUSTIC which means, If you like everything brand-new, this probably isn’t the place for you! However, it is comfortable and very private. A covered front porch and wrap around back deck provide many options to relax and watch the river roll by. Or watch the bald eagles circle and dive for their fish. Or watch the constant deer activity in the field. It's all about the outdoors here with a large front lawn and many outdoor alternatives. The lower level of the house consists of a living room with sliding glass doors to the back deck, a kitchen, laundry room/half bath. A connected studio suite provides another kitchen, living/dining area with 25 ft ceilings and a loft and a full bathroom with shower. The upstairs level includes 3 bedrooms and a shared bathroom wth a tub/shower. Family friendly! Although we do caution that with very young children, it's not "baby proofed" and extra care would need to be taken. Event friendly due to privacy. Pet friendly! We have a 5,000 square feet fenced in dog run with a dog door. Just basically friendly! FYI, if you are coming with a larger group we also have a parked 34ft RV available to rent with full hookups which sleeps 4 and/or room for someone to bring in their own RV as well as camping spots for tents adjacent to the back of the house. Ask us about additional charges for this option
Cyr is a rural area of small ranches and homes on larger lots and is 5 miles west of Alberton. It is a 30 minute drive to Missoula.
  • We had such an amazing time at this beautiful home. We disconnected from life and media and it was great. We bonded as a family and enjoyed the simple things this home had to offer. We will definitely be back!

  • Dan was a great host. Perfect place to stay.

    Sarah2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at Dan’s place. Granted it is a bit rustic but it is a beautiful piece of Montana history. Only the sporadic road and train noise makes this less than perfect. Would definitely stay there again.

    Gary2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Dan has a wonderful mountain home - a really comfortable and spacious house with everything you could need for a great stay. Communication with Dan was quick and easy. We had the pleasure of meeting him briefly and he is a true gentleman with a wealth of knowledge about Montana. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about where you’re staying and get some great tips on the fishing and hiking nearby.

⚪Whether you're traveling solo ☝, or as a couple ✌, you're going to ❤ the modern charm of this fully remodeled studio‼ ✔Bring your pets (no pet emojis work on here ☹). ⚪Whether you're in town for business ⚒⌨⛑☎ or leisure ⛳⛷⛵⛰, we know you'll find the Couple's Getaway as the perfect place to relax ☕ and recharge ⚡during your stay here in Missoula. ✔ out the pics and description. Ask any ❓❔❓s We hope you pick ⛏ us, as we'd be lucky ☘ to host you ☺ Safe Travels ✈⛽⛴
Our hot tub is down for repairs for the rest of the winter or until I remove this. So sorry for the inconvenience. These things happen though I suppose! We hope to still be able to host you. Thanks! Create lasting memories in our modern, luxurious, and fun couple's getaway. This studio is located on North Reserve St, a 3 minute walk from shops and restaurants. The unit's interior has been updated and is perfect for 1 or 2 people. Enjoy a beautiful atmosphere, comfy bed, great shower, Netflix, and Amazon's "Alexa". Outside, enjoy a unique wood-fired redwood hot tub experience. See why we're one of Missoula's top Airbnb's for couples. You are sure to have a fun and memorable experience. Right after you book I'll send you over a walkthrough video that'll explain the neighborhood/area, show you the street, parking, property, and unit. It'll also go over instructions for the hot tub. Please watch these videos so you know what to expect and how to best plan for your stay! The vibe: modern luxury. Aesthetically pleasing color scheme and finishes. We tried to create an environment that appealed to all of the senses. From the tealight candle wall feature to the antique washtub converted into a kitchen sink to the fluffy towels to the gorgeous wood kitchenette, you'll really enjoy the vibe that has been created here. Technology/Entertainment: Wireless internet. A Smart TV hooked up to a smart Blu-ray/DVD player. So the system is really smart I guess. You'll have access to our Netflix account and a few DVDs. There are some board games. On one side of the bed is a USB charging outlet and we'll have a few chords in there for charging your devices. And one of our favorite features of this space is "Alexa" hooked up to a waterproof bluetooth speaker. Alexa will be your DJ and entertainment for the evening. To learn more about what fun things you can do with "her" look up the Alexa User Guide on Amazon. Bed: Double bed. Cozy for 2 people. Underneath the comfortable bedding is a 2" lavender infused memory foam pad. Bathroom/Laundry: Updated bathroom. New vanity and nice lighting. Roomy tub/shower with nice shower head which is elevated above normal height and also portable. Memory foam bath mat. You'll have access to shampoo and body wash. The bathroom has a washer and dryer in it with detergent and dryers sheets provided. There is also a 4' wide closet rod w/ 2 shelves in the bathroom. This is the best "storage" in the space for your clothing and bags. Kitchenette/Dining: Small kitchenette. Mini fridge. Microwave. 3-Quart Super Pot with Grill Plate. Keurig coffee maker. Also you'll have access to a french press pot with electric kettle for tea and coffee. There is silverware, plates, bowls, glassware, wine and shot glasses available for you to use. There's a bar height table with 2 stools for you to sit/eat at. Outside: There's a large yard you'll have access to. Out the backside of our property is a gate that leads you through a little shrub tunnel which pops out directly behind a large commercial shopping center. Cold Stone ice cream is our favorite place to walk to, it's quite literally right out our back yard. There are also lots of restaurants and shops in that shopping center. Right off of this unit is a covered patio. At night it's well it up with string lights. On the patio there's a propane bbq grill you can use. There's also a wood/charcaol fire pit you can use for a fire or to grill on if you prefer to not use gas. And then the one of a kind redwood wood-fired hot tub. One thing to know with this hot tub is that it's not like a traditional electric hot tub. Don't expect to just show up and hop in there. View it more like an experience. From start to finish. The water sits at between 45 and 60 degrees when not in use (colder in the winter). So in order to get it up above 100 degrees it will require heating the water with a fire in a wood stove that sits in the water. We will have wood ready and send you instructions on how to get the fire going and get it up to temperature. On average it takes about 3.5-4 hours to heat the water from its sitting temperature up to above 100 degrees. This is why I say to view the whole thing as an experience. From starting the fire, to adding wood to the stove every 30 minutes or so, to stirring the water to distribute the heated water evenly around the tub, to finally enjoying the fruits of your labor. While you're soaking enjoy a nice string-lit area, or turn off the lights and enjoy the stars above. We also have a line up of essential oils for some aromatherapy. And bring Alexa outside along with the waterproof floating bluetooth speaker so you can have music playing. When you're done, enjoy a fluffy robe. The whole experience with this hot tub is unique and memorable. You will love it, as long as you know what to expect and go into it with the right frame of mind. ⚠Note: please let us know if you'd like to reserve the hot tub for the evening. This is to ensure that it's clean and that we have enough wood for you for the evening. If I don't hear from you that you'd like to use the hot tub, there's a chance that it might not be available for you to use during your stay. Parking: There is parking outside of the fence to our property, just off the street. You'll see signs designating where to park. If you need more private parking, we can open the double gates and you can park in the driveway.. Storybook: Please share with us about your experience in our "Write your story" notebook. We'd love to build a log from all of our guests about how their experience was in this space. Thanks! After your stay, please leave us a 5-star review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐if you think we deserved it! If you don't think we deserved it or if we dropped the ball on something (we try hard not to, but it does happen from time to time), please leave us feedback through a message on the app. We are always open to hearing how we can do better as hosts and create a better experience for our guests. Thanks so much for considering our Couple's Getaway for your stay here in Missoula, Montana! Matt and Ahni 4 kids: Izac, Ileana, Alli, and Ellamae 2 dogs: Max and Raider Cheers!
We are sandwiched between a huge commercial shopping center and a KOA. So there's a lot going on around us. But, once you're in the space/yard, it definitely feels like you're away from it all, in a private/secluded setting. Also, our main home is a manufactured home converted into a duplex. And the street that we are on does have a row of other manufactured homes as well. Some of our guests have called this a "trailer park" in their reviews. We aren't in a trailer park. We own our home and our land. So do our neighbors. And the guest house unit that you're in is in a completely separate building that is not a manufactured home. I just thought I'd share that in case this sort of thing bothers you.
  • Great place! Super clean and cozy. We were down visiting family and location was great. Super close to stores and restaurants! I would definitely recommend booking! Also we brought along out 1.5 year old Getman sheaperd and finding a dog friendly space can be hard sometimes, but this really was a dog friendly place! Thankyou Matt &Ahni

  • Great little space for a couple. Very easy access to food and shopping. I would highly recommend.

    Cory2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment of Matt & Ahni is 100 % recomendable. I stayed almost 3 weeks and the time flew away, I feel like I was at home. One thing I love is that I was a 1 min from the bus stop and 15 min walking from the main shops in the area. The communication with the owner was easy and fast. I can’t find anything negative. I’ll stay again there if I need it.

    Adrián2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Needed a last minute place to stay on our cross country trip and this was a perfect spot to stay. We also had breakfast at the hob nob and they had great food and really good coffee. Would stay here again. Thank you Matt and Ahni!

    Justin2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful and cozy place close to food and shopping. Super clean. Mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, washer and dryer made the stay easy to pack light. I highly recommend staying here!

    Heather2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Matt and Ahni are lovely hosts. The informational video was appreciated. This is a funky, fun place for a single or couple. Loved the interior and though I didn’t need to use it, having a washer and dryer is a plus! It also had the added benefit of being pet friendly and though I didn’t have a dog, my son who lives in Missoula does, and it was nice to be able to have him stop for a visit and bring his sweet girl with him. I would definitely stay again when in the area!

Do note that if you’re a couple, it’s probably comfiest to sleep separately, one on the loft and one on the couch (skip the hide-a-bed). Would definitely stay here again!

  • Molly and Michael’s hospitality was nothing short of amazing! The view of the Clark Form river and the beauty of their farm was absolutely breathtaking. The house was wonderful and the six of us slept comfortable and cozy. Thanks again!

  • Molly's place is a daylight basement with separate entrance located a mile and a half down a dirt road which runs along a railroad track and a very pretty river. The front view of the place looks out onto a scenic field of flowers and grasses. It is a very restful area. Molly is very attentive to our needs and quick to respond to inquires. The furnishings are comfortable and clean. It is a great place to stay.

    Sharon2019-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down....what an out of the way unique experience it is to stay at Crescent Ridge Farm. Mike & Molly are the definition of "salt of the earth." They have marvelous decorating taste and their farm is built solidly on land stewardship and protecting this earth. The carpet was so soft, clean, warmed by in-floor heat...the fireplace heart warming...the views absolutely magic. Need time alone....go retreat and enjoy happy family sounds sprinkled in the healing quiet.

    Diane2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely apartment is as advertised. My husband and I were on our way to Big Sky and this was a perfect stopping point for us. The apartment is huge (more than we needed for sure), clean, warm, and had plenty of amenities. The property is awesome and we loved the chickens and friendly dog. I wish we had more time there. I recommend spending time at the river, for us it was peaceful, even if we didn’t catch any fish. :)

    DeeAnna2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Molly's place is in a beautiful location. Just a little way up a dirt road with a view of a river and lovely gardens and fields. It was a clean, comfortable place, nice beds and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again if I got the chance.

  • With COVID19 going around, me and my partner wanted to get out and get away from the city stress, but also make sure we were following CDC guidelines. This place is mostly secluded on the outskirts of Missoula where we had ample privacy. Even though a tiny home is small, this space is intelligently laid out with everything you need to live comfortably. We watched movies at night and cooked meals all day. We had an absolute blast!

    Dillon2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, loved the espresso machine. Very responsive hosts

  • The AirStream is such a neat vessel! Great personal touches and sooooo comfy!

    Sidney2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice touches! Remodel is adorable, with great appliances and expresso machine. We used them all and were so pleased by their convenience. It was winter and we expected the air to be a little chilly, which we prefer for sleeping! And the bed covers are cozy and warm! We had a little hiccup with opening the door but our hosts were available within minutes to assist us! Great place!

    Kelly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place!

    Naomi2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoy nights in a cool retro Airstream that has been very nicely restored to a "California Modern" vibe.

    Sloane2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Airstream tiny home was perfect for our trip to Missoula. It had everything we needed and was absolutely adorable. The appliances are new and great and the bed is the best!! I highly recommend staying in this cute little trailer!

    Melanie2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in this airstream. It was comfortable and surprisingly felt spacious. The bed was insanely comfortable the atmosphere was cozy as well. It was also really stylish and cute which is something you don’t find in a hotel. We loved the nespresso machine and breakfast provided as well. It’s in a convenient area and check in was simple! We will be returning next time we are in the area! We even joked about enticing our daughter to go to college in Missoula so that we could stay here when we come visit her!

Brand New! Never lived in. This apartment is a fully licensed vacation rental. Clean and modern with high end finishes. Fully furnished with wi-fi, netflix, and all you need for a home away from home. Very close to downtown and the University. Centrally located and close to the amazing walking system to downtown. Private space with one bedroom, one bath, and a fully stocked kitchen with an open floor plan to the living room. So cozy, modern and clean.
This is such a great neighborhood. Quiet and very close to downtown. If you prefer to walk, you are a block and a half away from the amazing bike/walk trail system in Missoula.
  • This apartment is very modern and sparkling clean. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the basics for preparing meals, the bedroom has a built-in closet system making it easy to unpack your suitcase and keep your clothes organized, and the bathroom is stocked with fluffy towels. There is a heating/air conditioning unit in the living room, but the apartment also has a secondary heater in both the bedroom and bathroom for added comfort on chilly winter nights.

Zen retreat center for slowing down, unplugging, and quieting the mind - in order to exhale. Excellent for solitary journeying or spending quality time with people of quality. 20 acres of ancient cedars & a melody of creek singing accompany so many many stars to broaden your imagination. This is a destination, at the end of the road, with a fireplace to add to your ritual of solitude and contemplation. This is a great time of year to turn inward. You're invited and welcome to come visit.
You can request access to the cabin called Toshiro's. There is no extra fee and it is currently set up simply with carpeting, a recliner, propane stove, an antique armoire, 2 Queen size purple futons from Japan, and a writing table & chair. If you'd like to use it during your stay, I ask that you tell me in advance so I can turn the heat up to a cozy temperature. There is a therapy cat who lives at the retreat center named Panda aka Spuddy. He is warm and loving and diabetic. I give him quick shots that take 2 minutes of time when I feed him at 8am and 8pm. He is in good health and he can help your stay be cathartic. He can also live across the road in my warm pumphouse if you are wanting no cat present during your stay. He won't take it personally.
This home is located away from all highway sounds, and is close to being off grid while still retaining the amenities of comfort and privacy. Wi-Fi is available.
  • Tucked away in the mountains and surrounded by silence, this retreat center and cabin was exactly what I was looking for. I came to spend a quiet day and evening alone in order to rest, meditate, and soak in the hot tub, under the moon and stars. The space was impeccably clean and welcoming. Diane was lovely and quick to respond. Check-in was a breeze. And I feel completely recharged and grateful for the opportunity to stay. So many little touches we're sprinkled throughout the property--incense, bells, tea, and a complete library with dozens of books on Zen. Oh, and the bee was very comfortable. :) I loved staying here and will do so again soon.

    Nate2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place tucked away in a quiet valley. Cozy comfortable clean and a hot tub to boot. Diane is a wonderful hostess and very responsive to our questions and needs. If you are looking for a place to unwind this is it!

    Amy2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden paradise! The host (Diane) has put such care into everything. It's a little out of the way, but WELL WORTH IT! Maybe it's the Zen-influence, but the entire atmosphere has a calming effect. I've been to a lot of AirB&B's and VRBO and this is one of my absolute favorites. I'll be back!

    Anita2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing retreat! Would have loved to stay longer. Diane is an excellent host and made me feel very welcome.

    Brook2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Zen Retreat was such a welcoming and peaceful space. Diane has created a beautiful refuge from busyness and stress. The combination of being surrounded by nature and having such a cozy and inviting space is fantastic. I especially loved the separate cabin. I was able to spend much needed hours for reflection and solitude while my family had the Zen retreat to enjoy. The creek is just outside the little cabin, so the sounds and views are amazing. We will definitely go back again next time we’re in Montana!

The hot tub was a great addition to relax in and she had so many thoughtful touches around the house. She had baked goods and other food in the kitchen for breakfast. The banana bread was fantastic! Would definitely stay there again!

With direct access to extensive national forest land, this rustic cabin has no electricity or running water. The bathroom is an outhouse just down the driveway. It sits on an off-grid, 60 acre horse ranch, largely surrounded by national forest and it feel very remote. We have all the riding or hiking trails you could want, animals everywhere, and lots of peace and quiet. We built this cabin for my mom, so she could have her own space when visiting, and it is available whenever she is not here.
Please note that this is a non-smoking cabin! We built this cabin with the help of a group of friends, over the course of a long weekend, 15 years ago. We built it from trees we felled ourselves on our own property. It's very cute and absolutely nothing fancy! The floors are plywood with some old carpet scraps. There is an upstairs room with two twin beds and a downstairs open floor plan with a fold-out couch. There is no running water or electricity. The bathroom is an outhouse. There is some internet available at the cabin, though it may work more reliably if you come over to the main house. There's a little desk set up and some rocking chairs as well as a kitchen table and some kitchen cabinets. There is no refrigerator, but we can arrange a "ice box" in its simplest form - a cooler with ice in it which you can refill during your stay by coming over to the large freezer in the garage outside the main house. You can cook out on the porch, over a 2-burner, Colman, propane stove, or come over to the main house to use our kitchen if you arrange it with us. The cabin has a wood stove for heat and we can teach you how to use it. There is plenty of firewood and fire starting supplies ready for use. We provide one rack of firewood (about a week's worth of constant use) for free and charge $50 for additional racks. We've recently put in a small solar panel, battery and small inverter which serve to run a few lights at night and charge a cell phone or run a laptop. It won't do heavy loads like running an iron or a hair dryer. For now, there are no working outlets around the cabin - anything you need plugged in must be plugged into the single power strip in the corner by the electrical equipment. The cabin is a little ways down a side road off of Mill Creek Rd. (the primary road which runs over this mountain). You can see the main house from your cabin, but it is about 300 yards away, so you've got some privacy too. Mill Creek is a non-maintained forest road which is bumpy and narrow. It comes up a canyon and is often only wide enough for one car to pass, so it sometimes requires backing up if you meet someone going the other way. It is slow going and you can expect to take at least 30 minutes to travel the 9 miles to more normal roads. In a low-clearance car, you'll take longer, as you will want to go much slower to avoid bottoming out on potholes and bumps. During the summer any car will make it up here, but the drive will be slow and bumpy in anything with low clearance!
Our nearest neighbors are 1/2 a mile away and generally can't be seen from our property. You can easily head out into national forest land for hiking, camping, mountain biking or horseback riding from our front door and you are likely to go days without seeing anyone outside of those of us at the ranch. There are hundreds of miles of old logging roads on which you can hike or horseback ride surrounding us. This is beautiful, empty country, which is, none-the-less not that far from town. We are 45 minutes from Missoula (a GREAT town with lots going on) and 3 hours from Glacier National Park. 40 minutes from the National Bison Preserve and 5 hours from Yellowstone. The nearest grocery store is 10 miles away (about a 30 minute drive or more if you need to take the road extra slowly). There is shopping, movie theaters, community events and nice restaurants in Missoula, as well as endless unique events like Out-To-Lunch on Wednesdays and the Artist's market on Saturdays. Oh, and Missoula has a great escape room (Big Sky Escape Room) that's lots of fun too!
  • The cabin was wonderful!! We loved spending a few days off grid. The location is beautiful (the road up to the cabin is rough for smaller cars but my Prius made it!) There were nice trails for hiking nearby. The hospitality was perfect! Thanks for hosting us!!!

    Natália2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice host, and lovely pets. House is in a beautiful place, surrounded by hills, forests and rivers . Cabin is very nice and clean. Better than we have expected. Location in the wildness. Upper vehicle to get there advised. Host sent us very detailed explication how to get there. Very good price-value. If u want to feel close to nature, relaxed and detached from the hectic rush life, this is the best place to be.

    David2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Christie’s description of the road conditions up to the cabin and the cabin itself were spot-on. This is a “rustic” experience! ....And one our family thoroughly enjoyed! Nothing like putting your feet up in a toasty cabin at the end of a long day....with beautiful horses out your window and unexpected Smore ingredients in the cupboard. Extreme hospitality at every turn. We feel lucky to have had this experience “off the grid.” Sincere thanks!

    Sally2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Christie is an amazing host and was so welcoming!! Outstanding hospitality!! Super cool cabin that was built by their family with logs from the trees on their land! Definitely will be back!!

    Carrie2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • My family of five (2 adults, 3 young children) took a three-week adventure from Jackson Hole over to Seattle where we then disembarked on an Alaskan cruise… It was three weeks of incredible adventuring- we stayed in everything from fancy hotels, to the cruise ship, to other cabins with modern amenities- and through it all, this quaint little cabin in Montana (we stayed 2 nights) made the absolute top of our list! Hands down. This cabin is perfect for individuals who enjoy the outdoors, and really love camping. It’s simple and perfect. It’s basically camping- but staying in a log cabin instead of a tent. There is limited electricity, and no running water, the outhouse is a short walk from the cabin, but was very clean. Be prepared to use a camping stove (provides) and make sure you have stocked up on food and camping supplies (brings ample water) before arriving, as the 9 mile road off of the highway to get to the cabin, is an adventure in itself. (Very fun bumpy dirt road!) The absolutely breathtaking property, the kind hostess, and the simplicity of the cabin is what makes this an amazing place to stay. Christie greeted us with a warm smile, and a freshly baked dish of muffins. Her friendly dogs were an instant hit with my children, and they played with them frequently. We happened to arrive while Christie was caring for an orphaned kitten, so my children had the opportunity to help feed him milk and learn about little baby cats, which of course they loved! We enjoyed waking up in the morning to the sound of roosters crowing, and horses neighing in the background. The horses were all friendly and a beautiful sight. Christie even let the kids and me spend some time on the horses, riding them around the property and we played some fun games! If you are looking for a five-star hotel, this is not a place for you, but if you are looking for one of the most beautiful corners of the earth, and time to unplug and relax, you will adore staying here.

    Jamie2019-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is seriously so worth the money! It doesn’t have running water (which is clarified) and you do have to go outside to get to the outhouse. But we had so much fun in the cabin! Christie and her husband had such amazing animals and she showed us around the property the next morning. They also brought us s’mores and fun little touches like candy in the cabin! It was seriously so much fun. It’s quirky, on beautiful property, and such an adventure!

    Mattie2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location with lots of outdoor activities at your feet. Christie was an awesome host and was super helpful with directions and providing and need necessary. Perfect spot to get away and relax. Definitely going back as soon as possible!

    Jeffrey2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very rustic cabin in a rural location. That is what is charming about it...but if you are expecting a 5 star hotel experience you will be disappointed. This is more of a pioneer experience. this is for you if want to get away from it all to a REALLY remote location. It is down a rough country road for about 9 miles. It is beautiful and wild and rocky but passable...very rural Montana..and this is what makes it so unique. Bring what you need because you will not be able to run to the grocery store:)

The cottage is located on a quiet road in the Target Range area. It is adjacent to the main house, but it is completely private and self-sufficient. The cottage can be accessed by a lockbox, allowing guests to check in as they please. This is tiny home living. Additional guests are not recommended. A pack and play is available upon request.
The cottage is quaint and almost a 100 years old. It has held up very well and recently remodeled, but does have its quirks. Most things have been replaced or updated, but its age gives the cottage a unique experience.
  • We love our stay in the cottage! Cute decorations, feels updated & modern for such a small space. We’d definitely stay again. Comfy bed - really appreciates the Netflix-ready TV in the bedroom!

Magical getaway bedroom in the woods on 25 acres where glamping meets rewilding. Come recharge and rest. Breakfast delivered to your door. Short walk to the all cedar outhouse. Enjoy watching the fire dance at the campfire circle by the creek. Great hiking trails close by, and just 20 miles to Lolo Hot Springs and 4 miles to a restaurant/saloon. This is a space to truly unwind, as there is no cell phone coverage, internet, or cable TV.
This all season yurt is a special getaway every day of the year. For cold and snowy days the wood stove heats the yurt nicely (we will have the fire going and the yurt warm upon your arrival). For warm days, we have a fan, and summer evenings are in the 50s and 60s here. For check in, please arrive between 3pm and 9pm. The yurt is a 5 minute walk from the parking area, and it is not suited to self check in. The yurt has one king size bed, and is one big open room with a large closet. We welcome additional people if you don't mind a bedroll on the floor. We keep a full size futon mattress in the closet, with extra bedding in a cupboard, for any extra's that won't fit on the bed. If you will be cooking, bring a camp stove to set up outside (only washing facility is water carried in). Wood is provided for the indoor wood stove that heats the yurt. There is a charming outhouse, but no showering facilities. In summer, enjoy the cool clear water in the creek. When the days are hot and sunny the yurt gets pretty warm, but it does cool off nicely at night. We do keep a fan in the yurt, and the windows and doors have screens. We do not have an air-conditioner in the yurt. We are in the mountains so it is usually 10 degrees cooler than town. We also have a cabin! Check out the link for that: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/28665685?s=67&shared_item_type=1&virality_entry_point=1&sharer_id=210591153 If you need more room, or want to have access to a shower and kitchen, book the cabin too!
We live in the most beautiful place for hiking, enjoying nature, watching wildlife, near great huckleberry picking in the summer, and truly a place to recharge your soul.
  • I would suggest this place to anyone

  • This is a wonderful place to stay! We went at the end of November, and though it was snowing all around us, it was cozy by the fire. If you are planning on going in the winter, please note that it is about a half hour drive from Alberton. We checked in, immediately turned back into town for dinner, and still drove back in the dark---which was a little scary due to the snow and deer/big horn sheep on the roads. Once we got back to the yurt, we had a very pleasant evening playing board games (Scrabble, Monopoly, and Checkers provided) and reading by the fire (there's a nice selection of books to start). We had to stoke the fire a few times during the night just to keep it going until morning, but the mountain of blankets and heated blanket on the bed were sufficient for warmth. Then breakfast in the morning was fantastic!

Just 1.5 miles from downtown Missoula, our vintage camper is parked in front of our home on a quiet street. It sleeps 2, plus a child, and offers electrical hookups, mood lighting, hardwood floors, a propane stove, and closet space, as well as access to a bathroom in our house, use of our patio and charcoal grill, and free on-street parking. We are at the doorstep of the Bitterroot and Rattlesnake Wilderness, Flathead Lake, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, and much more.
Our neighborhood offers the best of two worlds: a quiet, friendly neighborhood setting, and the fun and convenience of being right in the center of town. With downtown just a mile away, numerous bike paths to cruise, parks within walking distance, rivers to float, and endless hiking destinations at our doorstep, you won't be bored for a minute!

This spacious apt comes fully furnished with a kitchen and plenty of privacy. Residence is in rural setting, but within 5 minutes of great shopping and 15 min from the university. Easy access from the Reserve St exit off of I-90.
Recently finished. Quiet and safe neighborhood. This apartment is connected to our family home but maintains a private feel as it sits above our garage. Plenty of parking on the street with one available parking spot in the driveway.
We love the area of Missoula that we live in. It has both a friendly/safe neighborhood feel along with classic Montana rural views and activities. It's located the perfect distance away from busy streets which lends to a quiet & peaceful atmosphere. There are multiple places to explore in our neck of the woods: Three rural blocks away is a very large equestrian park with a multitude of trails throughout it. The Clark Fork River is also less than .5 miles away with many access points and trails. A well known recreation area called "Kelly Island" is within two miles of our home.
  • Great place to lay our heads! Adam & Amy are terrific hosts. I’d recommend their place with no hesitation.

I purchased this little 672 sq ft historic beauty, converted in 1930 from a train car to a house, in June 2019. On warm nights you can commune in the back yard under string lighting and on chilly ones cozy up with a blanket in front of the gas fireplace. 100% dog-friendly!
From the front, the home looks like it could fit in a thimble; inside, it opens up and is airy, simple, and lovely. It’s still a little rough in places- peeling wallpaper behind the stove, etc., but I am slowly polishing up this petite, historic space. The master bedroom has a full-sized bed, the other bedroom has a twin sleeper chair, and the living room has a queen sleeper sofa. The bathroom is off the master bedroom; note that to get to it, you’ll need to walk through that room. The kitchen is fully outfitted with appliances (oven/range, fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster, waffle maker, pour-over coffee filter and holder, and basics (spices, oil, butter, coffee, tea, utensils, bakeware/cookware, etc.). There is a bathtub and shower in the bathroom, and basics like towels, washcloths, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shampoo, tampons, pads, etc. I have a washer/dryer, detergent/dryer sheets, a clothes steamer, as well as a clothesline out back. The home is heated by a new gas fireplace; the previous one sufficiently warmed it for decades, but there is also a tabletop space heater should you need it. If you’re bringing a dog friend or two, I have a dog bed, tie-out, 3-gallon water dispenser, food bowl, bottomless biscuits, and usually pupsicles in the freezer in the summertime. Upon booking you’ll receive some pup-friendly recommendations approved of by the bull terrier-in-residence, Tater Tot. I want my home to be as comfortable for you as possible; during or after your stay I’d appreciate feedback as to what you loved and what I could have done better!
You’ll be 5 minutes from vibrant downtown Missoula, farmers’ market, the Clark Fork River, and no more than a 12 min drive from the university and almost anywhere else in town, and also enjoy the peace of a residential, tree-lined street and longtime, quiet homeowner neighbors on either side. There is a gas station just a few blocks away, a wonderful grocery store called Fresh Market a half mile away, and a climbing gym right down the street. If you’re bringing your smaller counterparts, West Side Park is a fabulous and nearby playground and splash pad, McCormick Park is also wonderful and not far, and the Clark Fork Natural Area is a delightful, accessible way to splash around in the river and see critters. The carousel is a must-see (and must-ride!) and has a lovely playground attached. Big Dipper Ice Cream is not far and six out of five stars. I can also give you more child-related activities and tips; let me know and I’ll hook you up!
  • Such a cute little space! Very dog friendly and Jess was very attentive to anything we might need. Highly recommend!

    Hanna2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jess’ place was awesome! The house was super cute and very clean. She did a great job communicating leading up to and after the trip. I’d recommend her house to anyone staying in Missoula looking for a cool spot!

    Nicole2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Do you like to see cute, interesting things everywhere you turn? Enjoy a communicative, kind host? What about easy to follow instructions for their home? Recommendations on things to do? Comfy linens? Cozy atmosphere? Stay here. I was able to walk most places, able to catch the bus easily, and her house is just so lovely. One of those places you stay where you start to plan out how you can move there because you feel right at home. Thanks Jess!

    Gwen2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • As a frequent user of Airbnb for work travel, Jess's home may have been the best yet! It was so cozy and clean and stylish and full of very sweet lovely and hospitable touches to make sure the stay was enjoyable. She is great at communicating, and as soon as I arrived I felt very peaceful and relaxed. So many lovely little touches from slippers at the door, to fresh cookies , to re-usable water bottles for use (should you have forgotten yours). This is quite a lovely home and very special to get to stay in if you get the opportunity!

    Evelyn2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Boho chic oasis with zen vibes galore. I can tell a place that is loved..from essential oil diffusers to quality products (e.g. soap, lotion etc) for guests to use, Jess’s place was a special find. I will be staying again and longer in the future !

    Cynthia2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • There were some unique items in the Airbnb that were cool for reading. The collectibles were a very nice touch.

    Kristi2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, Jess was a huge help and made us cookies, which my kids loved!

    Cameron2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, two pugs and I absolutely loved Jess’s place. Convenient location tucked in a quiet neighborhood which we appreciated (5 min drive to downtown). No tv, we enjoyed the games and brought a laptop for movies and music. The bedroom gets pretty chilly, but Jess provides extra blankets. From the moment you walk in the vibe is just so good. Loved the retro/vintage touches, essential oil defuser, and fireplace. It was also nice having a washer and dryer. A few of our favorite places to visit were: Big Dipper (ice cream)— they even gave our pups mini cones, Black Coffee Roasting Co, Butterfly Herbs, and Saketome. Great hiking a few minutes from the house too! We will be back.

    Kayla2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We were in town for grandma’s 80th and with many family members visiting we needed an extra place. A great basement retreat at a great price - especially for a fast growing college town. Located optimally for several eating establishments including a McDonald’s with the best play structure we’ve seen yet. We took the kids to McD’s to blow off steam both mornings. The beds were fabulous. I have fibromyalgia and degenerative discs in my lower back. Whenever I travel I accept that I will be in pain with the bed and won’t sleep well. Not the case for these beds. It was perfect. The white noise machine is a thoughtful touch. I don’t mind footfall above me because I grew up with the sound of it. My mom senses are still tuned to littles crying in the night so the first night I was awakened and checked our kids. Went back to bed and turned on the white noise and didn’t have any other problems the rest of the nights there. I am very thankful there is no tv! There is a large table and we played some games we brought with us before bed, rather than being pestered to watch a show.

  • This is a clean, large basement space. There are lots of thoughtful little things included, like juice, tea, several kinds of coffee, granola bars, etc. While the basement is non-smoking you can smell smoke from the living area above. If you're sensitive to that, you might want to choose another place. It's a great value!
