Places to stay in All Stretton
Relax in our garden house in rural Shropshire. You'll be greeted by curious cats and chickens...and probably Allan and me. There's some fabulous walks, a lovely local and some pretty market towns all within easy reach. There's also plenty to read and lots of interesting CDs to play if you prefer.
Our fabulous wooden chalet is completely self contained...and you can come and go as you please. The chalet comprises a bedroom, a shower room with a loo and a living room. There's also a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and sink. The bed is a double bed and our chalet is most comfortable with one or two guests. We like reading and listening to music so you'll find lots of books, and a wall of CDs in the living room. We can guarantee there'll be music that you've never heard before there. You are, of course, welcome to play the music and read the books but please don't be tempted to take any with you when you leave. There's no TV, but there's WiFi. Oh, and do look up...we hope you like our chandelier.
Snailbeach is small lead mining village in the heart of the South Shropshire hills. The miners have long since left, but the Victorian buildings still stand and are looked after by the Shropshire Mines Trust. From Snailbeach you can explore the Stiperstones, try some splendid real ale in Bishop's Castle or visit Shrewsbury's shops. Or you can throw caution to the winds and go mountain biking. Bring your own bike! Shropshire is such a beautiful place it's hard to know where to start describing the best bits. Come to stay, tell us what you like best and we'll point you in the right direction. Do try to visit our local pub while you're staying, it's great. You'll find some leaflets about the local area and a very fine book written by a local chap detailing walks all over the county. Check out Elsie's walk...she was the village post lady and her daughter lives just across the road. If you're into knitting, there's a Knit'nNatter at the pub on a Tuesday morning (with cake) and some fantastic guerrilla knitting in Bishop's Castle. And there's also a very good Morris dance team there too...
  • Genevieve’s place was great! Full of charm and well located for hiking and walking through the beautiful surroundings! Allan was very helpful and friendly! We definitely recommend!

  • Such a unique, quirky place to say with so many homely and thoughtful touches to welcome you. Astounding scenery in the local area... you can walk up to the Stiperstones literally within a stones throw of the cabin. Hosts provide a wealth of information and their advice is worth heeding to particularly pub recommendations for food and eats. Somewhat chilly in these early months of the year but we can imagine pure bliss in the long summer evenings. A hot water bottle, lots of blankets as well as furry feline friend's and an epic cd collection are a recipe to keep you warm though! Candle lanterns in the trees appeared at the end of each day when we arrived back after our evening meal too!! A home from home! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

  • This was our first time staying in an airbnb and I think the bar has been set high for future stays! When we arrived we were upgraded to the cottage which was absolutely lovely. It was very homely and had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh milk, bread and muffins. We had a great time walking up long mynd and exploring the old mines. It made my partner's birthday very special! Thank you Genevieve and Allan :)

    Chris2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet retreat, a short drive from local amenities, right next to the Shropshire way for walks. Interesting to look around the old mine too. Great to have some bread and milk ready and the muffins were delicious!

    Katie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. We really enjoyed the little touches like the lanterns and the muffins (they where delicious!). The shower is amazing and the cabin is incredibly cosy. Recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, quaint getaway surrounded by countryside and friendly hosts.

Designed with luxury & pampering in mind. You can enjoy wonderful views, through the trees, of the Long Mynd & Church Stretton. It's this mix of seclusion yet close proximity to local amenities that really sets us apart. Search for Oaks Lodge in Shropshire on Trip Advisor and read the wonderful reviews left by our guests. PLEASE NOTE: Our prices are higher on Airbnb due to the Extenuating Circumstances Policy, feel free to chose the booking platform that best suits your requirements.

Please call or text - O seventy-seven eighty-two, then 25, 92 and thirty-one - or 'Contact the Owner' and Sara will happily discuss your requirements. Welcome to Oaks Lodge, your luxury lodge nestled in a 1/3 acre woodland dingle beneath a canopy of oak trees. Unwind in your Jacuzzi spa, surrounded by the natural beauty of mature oaks and the lodge's modern western red cedar cladding, whilst listening to the soothing background trickle of the stream as it meanders beneath you. Sit back and relax with an evening drink on the composite decking, warmed by the Burda electric heater, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and often squirrels chasing each other around the branches of the oak trees. Oaks Lodge is accessed from a dedicated parking area by a gravel path (approximately 80m long) located along the lower level of the owners' secluded, tiered garden. As you walk along the pathway, lit by floor level LEDs, through carefully chosen shrubs and planted slopes and pass through a gateway of two magnificent oak trees, you gain your first glimpse of the lodge; the elevated balcony and front windows with the stream below flowing gently from the waterfall behind (except in periods of low rainfall). It's a truly unique and magical space and yet only a short walk into the middle of Church Stretton town with its eateries, independent specialist shops and attractions. After a day's activities you can Retreat into your personal haven and relax. Oaks Lodge has been designed with luxury and pampering in mind, yet is offered with a realistic price tag. We want you to enjoy your stay with us, whether you are planning a romantic getaway or mini-moon, an activity break or simply some time to yourselves. From your elevated private balcony and hot tub, you can enjoy wonderful views, through the trees, of the Long Mynd and areas of the town. It's hard to believe that Oaks Lodge is only five minutes' walk away from the train station and a few minutes more into the centre of Church Stretton. It's this mix of seclusion yet close proximity to local amenities that really sets Oaks Lodge apart. We believe the little things make the biggest memories. Inside, we have striven to provide everything you might expect from a luxurious getaway: underfloor heating, a cosy flame-effect fire, a fully-equipped kitchen, powerful rain shower, super king bed and outdoor Hot Tub are just some of the touches that we believe will make your stay extra special. As we are a small, family run enterprise, we are always on hand to give you advice, if wanted and help, when needed. Our goal is to ensure that you have an unforgettable time at Oaks Lodge. We have recently partnered with MyPersonalSanctuary where you can book spa treatments to be taken at Oaks Lodge to make your stay even more special so please take a look. Town is a little walk away with some lovely places to eat and drink. Sara recommended a number of good places to visit. We will definitely be going back again and highly recommend oak lodge and hosts.

The train station is a five minute walk away and can take you to the centre of medieval Shrewsbury or the historic market town of Ludlow in under 15 minutes - it is on the mainline from Cardiff to Manchester. Also within easy reach are notable sights such as the museums of Ironbridge, Stokesay Castle, Offa's Dyke, Weston Park and Buildwas Abbey to name but a few of what Shropshire has to offer. Larches Lodge is dwarfed by the glorious backdrop of the Long Mynd, Caradoc and Carding Mill Valley all but a stones throw away. You are spoilt by many beautiful and scenic walks to suit both the less energetic and more experienced hill walkers. You will not be disappointed. Church Stretton is an historic market town set in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town just hums with happiness. It is not unusual for total strangers to say hello and stop of a chat with you in the street - something that does not happen enough in this day and age!
  • This is truly the most perfect place for a little couples retreat! The cabin was so cute and cosy, the hot tub and the little fire place really made it for me and my partner. I am recommending this place to everyone I know who wants to have a little relaxing break! Also, the host was really lovely. So welcoming and made us feel extremely comfortable. Its very close to the main house but it really feels like you are in your own little world here! Would book again x

  • Larches Lodge is absolutely stunning - beautifully designed and built wood cabin with a little cosy wood burner. The hot tub is phenomenal after a day of hiking and there are tons of great pubs nearby. Sara went above and beyond for myself and my friend and we had the most wonderful time. One of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in.

Hot tub and log burner were the perfect edition. Sara was a great host responding to my messages instantly and offering us any advise we needed. Thanks for a great little Christmas trip

Plenty of space outside with it's private parking and wrap around veranda to enjoy the views of the lakes from! It has been beautifully decorated and furnished by a local interior designer to a high standard. There is cake, tea, coffee, milk and sugar waiting for you on your arrival .

  • We had an amazing time at the lake house! You can not see and appreciate the beauty of the property and the location until you get there. There is not even one thing we can complain about our weekend vacation. Lynne was amazing, she welcomed us at the property, navigated us and also lest us coffee/milk and fresh cake! I can't describe how clean was the property! Spotless! If you want a beautiful house on the lake, that is your place! Very quiet and relaxing place to be. Waking up in the morning all you hear is birds singing, and having your coffee outside watching the birds/ducks was just the best! Only an hour away from us, which would make this place our weekend holiday home from now on! Thank you again for the great hospitality. Martin

    Johnson2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay - you feel immediately calm. It's clean and spacious and well decorated. You feel isolated and like you're away from all the stress of the world. There's a real sense of homeliness and even though it's very much in the English countryside, you feel like you're on holiday abroad. The lake is beautiful and it was so nice watching the birds. Lynne left us tea and cake which was very tasty, and there is bath soak for a relaxing bath (may or may not have spent 3 hours in there). The bed is a big cosy cloud. We were desperate to stay another night and can't wait to come back!

    Albany2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The whole process of booking to stay was smooth. Lynne was very good at answering queries no matter how small they were. The location is fantastic and it is so private. The lake house itself was lovely and clean with all amenities you will need. We will be coming back again soon.

    Craig2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do the lake house justice it was beautiful, the cake was a lovely touch, and we had a wonderful stay despite the bad weather thank you :) x

Location, location, location. It’s not that the Pottery holiday cottage isn’t lovely (our guests are very complimentary). It’s just that we know that the main reason so many guests return to the Pottery is simply because of where it is. The Pottery nestles next to the Longmynd, a 6,000 acre area of National Trust moorland. An area of outstanding natural beauty, the scenery and views are stunning. And you're just 5 minutes drive from the supermarket and amenities of Church Stretton.
  • Brilliant place for exploring the Shropshire countryside. Cosy and welcoming with plenty to do if the weather turns for the worse. Close to the village with great shops and eateries. Love to stay again. Highly recommended.

    Joanne2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A superb place for enjoying and exploring The Long Mynd and surrounding countryside. The Pottery is quiet, warm, clean, private and has excellent facilities.

    Roland2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy place :) surrounded by amazing scenery, some amazing walks right on the doorstep! Even though Mary and Mark are next door you have all the privacy you could need! Would definitely return!

    Grace2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, spacious and very clean. Mary was communicative without being intrusive, we had everything we needed and were even allowed to play in the treehouse. Simply lush.

    Aisling2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at The Pottery. We always enjoy the location - secluded, but close to the hills of Long Mynd - and the relative proximity to Church Stretton. Despite being up a rough track and adjacent to the hills there are good facilities, with phone data, TV and internet all available. There are full cooking facilities. Last year we did a roast Christmas dinner but this time had more modest meals. The place was kept toasty with a combination of central heating and a log burner. We would happily return again.

    Martin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quirky cottage in a beautiful setting. A great base for walking the Long Mynd and beyond

    Paul2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Pottery is a cosy comfortable cottage in a fabulous location. Great walks on the doorstep. Everything we needed. Loved it!

    Angela2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing setting with gorgeous views of the Shropshire hills! The dark skies made star-gazing possible and the log burner warmed us up afterwards! Very comfy bed, warm bathroom with heated towel-rail (bliss!) and well equipped kitchen with enough utensils to do home-cooking and entertain guests. So quiet we could only hear the birds and our wine being poured out......very relaxing break!

  • It was a great experience in Claudia’s fantastic place. The apartment is clean, quiet and convenient. Claudia was so nice to talk and gave us a lot of advices about the stay. We will come back for sure.

  • Clean apartment, more spacious than shown in the photos, Claudia was quick to answer. I recommend Caudia's apartment.

    Kelen2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia is an amazing host! She’s always available to communicate with and the flat itself is spacious, stylish and in the perfect location for the centre of town. I had the most incredible long term stay and would definitely stay here again.

    Jayne2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • The first thing I thought when I saw the flat was "I wish we were staying longer" It is a great space and the whole place is sparkling clean. The bathroom and kitchen are especially lovely. The location is fantastic - right in the centre of Shrewsbury so everything is right on the doorstep. If we go back to Shrewsbury again this will be one of the first Airbnb properties we will be checking for availability.

    Kathryn2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This flat is brilliantly central for Shrewsbury. Everywhere was a really easy walk. We drove across the river and parked on a quiet residential street so didn’t have to pay for parking. Plenty of space in the flat. Wi-fi was good Bed was comfy. Bathroom small but perfectly formed. Finding tea, coffee and sugar when we arrived was really helpful. We just had to pop out for a pint of milk and we were all set. Key pick up was easy. Sue met us at exactly the right time, exactly where expected and showed us how everything worked. Key drop off was simple too. If you’re eating out, The Olive Tree - 5 minute walk over the river - was absolutely brilliant with great cocktails, lovely tapas and a sun trap outdoor space with blankets and shade. Lovely. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

  • We recently stayed at this place and really liked it. It was just one night after long drive so the house provided us with plenty of rest and relaxation. The bed and sofa are nice and comfy and the linen was freshly clean. The kitchen and bathroom were also spotless. The main feature of the house were lounge windows that give you marvellous views day and night. It is a great find on the way to Snowdonia. • One of the nicest AirBnBs we have stayed in - spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The location in Church Stretton is lovely, it’s a great town with lots of nice places to eat and drink, and the accommodation is close to it all as well as to some great walks - we did the Long Mynd. Debbie left us some delicious homemade ginger cake and milk, which was very much appreciated. The apartment itself is spacious and well thought out - you have everything you need and it’s a home away from home!

    Abi2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly welcome from our hosts. The apartment was spotlessly clean, warm & comfortable with all the basic essentials provided (pint of milk, shower gel etc). The downstairs entrance hall with washer/dryer & hanging space was very handy after muddy hill-walks. Church Stretton itself is a lovely little village. A special mention for the Mountain Outlet shop who were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay despite the rain!

    Elizabeth2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location (quick walk to shops and country walks), quality place (a home from home feel), extremely clean. Highly recommended.

  • Lovely clean apartment within a few minutes walking distance of Church Stretton centre and 15 min drive to Shrewsbury park and ride. Very comfortable, well equipped, and with thoughtful touches like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hairdryer, and a welcome gift of milk and home-made cake! The hosts are lovely and very helpful if you are strangers to the area. A perfect base for exploring Shropshire.

    Alison2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is lovely and spacious, impecably clean and stylish. It's welcome to be given a little longer (10.30) than most before leaving on the last day. And the location was so great: a 5 minute walk to a fine Thai restaurant and under 10 minutes to the National Trust Longmynd area.

    Derek2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House was more spacious than we expected and was immaculately clean and well equipped. There were little extras to start us of such as milk, tea, coffee and sugar. We also enjoyed the pieces of home made cake! The views of the Shropshire hills from both the Lounge and bedroom windows were superb. It was a very comfortable place to stay. Thank you Debbie and Greg for the warm welcome.

The Hayloft is situated in the grounds of the stunning Rushbury Manor an Elizabethan house in the heart of the South Shropshire Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Hayloft is an oak framed barn beautifully furnished and has views across Ape Dale towards the Long Mynd.
Relax and unwind under the hand crafted, traditionally build cruck oak frame and escape from it all or if you prefer cycling, country walks or more challenging hikes are all possible straight from the door. Take in the spectacular views of the Shropshire Hills from the secluded garden or venture out to try the abundance of local food and real ales or just walk the 1/2 mile to our local pub.
The location lends itself to exploring the local area by foot, bike or car; we have lived in the area for a long time and are happy to help you make the most of your stay. We can help you with walking routes, places to visit such as Ironbridge, local restaurants, places to cycle; off road or on quite country lanes. The South Shropshire hills are on the border between England and Wales, it is a perfect place for a quick retreat away from busy life. If you like history, food or outdoor activities the local area has got it in spades; the many castles and other fortifications (including one just over the road from the Hayloft) tell the tale of border conflicts. Shropshire was the birth place of Darwin, the modern Olympic games and the industrial revolution which has been carefully preserved at the Ironbridge museums, only a few miles away however it is almost as if it never happened. You are not far from great restaurants and places to go out, in particular Ludlow is renowned for its food and festivals and has two restaurants with Michelin stars.
  • The hayloft was airy, clean and homely. I stayed here while at a business conference in Telford 30 mins away. It had everything I needed. Many thanks to Simon and Kara for quick responses and for welcoming me into your lovely space.

  • The Hayloft is a wonderfully relaxing space in a quiet and beautiful location. Everything that you could need is provided by the hosts who also provide valuable information on the surrounding areas and who are brilliant to communicate with whenever you need to. Nia2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Hayloft for three nights (18 -20 Oct 2019). We found the place easily on the edge of the village and our host, Simon, met us to show us around this self contained converted barn. The accommodation is stylish, warm, cosy and inviting and had all the amenities we could want for our short break. It was a pleasure to come back to each evening after our adventures around this delightful part of the Country. Plenty to see and do. Highly recommended stay.

Stone cottage in rural location, set in beautiful garden with stunning views over the Shropshire hills and Ludlow. Newly refurbished, self contained with large sitting room and open plan kitchen area. Private parking directly outside cottage, easy access, one dog or other pets welcomed. The cottage is an ideal place to get away from it all, with nothing to interrupt you except the birds and the weather!
Visitors have their own seating area within the garden, the property has modern central heating and there is a log burner. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is separate bathroom with bath and shower.
The cottage is situated up a farm track away from any town. It is ideal for walking and exploring Shropshire and local shops and pubs are a short car drive away. Nearby is Ludlow a beautiful market town, which was significant in the history of the Welsh Marches. It retains its traditional shops, restaurants and festivals making it worth visiting along with other Shropshire towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Clun and Bishops Castle. There are many excellent places to eat and walk, come and explore Shropshire for yourself!
  • Superb location up on the hills with stunning views over toward Ludlow. Everything you need for a comfy stay and plenty of room for a crate for our dogs. Everything you need to cook for yourself or sone cracking eateries roundabout (the chip shop in Craven Arms and Wildwood in Ludlow are highly recommended) Our labs loved their walk on Wenlock edge yesterday and Long Mynd today, we will be back.....

  • Middle Barn is a rare slice of heaven tucked away In the most beautiful spot. The views are simply stunning! Get ready for some amazing sunrises and sunsets, beautiful dark night skies full of stars 🌟 I heard cuckoos, saw owls, buzzards and a red kite. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with the most comfy double bed and a wood burner in the lounge completes the coziness. I can heartily recommend Middle Barn for anyone needing to recharge and unwind and although it’s set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, you’re only 3 miles from the nearest town with all the amenities you could wish for. I hated to leave - which I think says it all. A wonderful place with great hosts.

Welcome to No. 16! The cottage is comfortable and homely inside...and we're pleased to tell you our shabby porch has been totally rebuilt! (hurrah!) and painted (hurrah!) It's somewhere you can put wet coats and leave muddy boots, then go into the kitchen for a cup of tea. You'll find all you need for your stay, including teas, coffee, bread, butter, jam and cereals. There's a Calor gas range cooker, a microwave, pots, pans, cutlery and stuff too.
This is a beautifully restored mining cottage in the south Shropshire hills. There's a lovely garden, and loads to explore around the area. We are trying to work towards being as green as possible, and trying to cut back on single use plastic, but as we've bought some things in bulk (bin bags and suchlike) we're not there yet. The milk comes in glass bottles from a local dairy, it's organic and not homogenised, so shake the bottle or use the top of the milk on your cereal. Please don't dispose of the bottle or the cap. We are able to refill them at Hignett's in Pontesbury. The butter we provide is organic, too. Marmalade and jam are home made ( the jam is usually made with fruit from the garden - but I've not been able to grow Seville oranges...) We will keep trying to improve on our carbon footprint!
Snailbeach was a lead mining village. Work ceased in the mid sixties, and since then the Shropshire Mines Trust have been taking care of the buildings that still stand and offer occasional trips down the mines. Just up the hill from us is Hollywood...a grove of holly trees which are in the region of 400 years old. Carry on walking and you'll reach the Stiperstones...a quartzite ridge 480 million years old. It's really amazing round here...
  • Genevieve is an amazing host! The cottage is beautiful, super cosy and spotlessly clean. It is perfectly located for some breathtaking walks and Genevieve was more than happy to give us tips on the best places to eat locally. I came away feeling very relaxed and I've discovered some new music to listen to after exploring the vast CD collection in the cottage. I can't wait to go back.

Our newly renovated and spacious apartment on the second floor, which still retains some original features including open oak beams, is situated in the heart of Shrewsbury's medieval town centre. • Unique little Airbnb located in a perfect location for exploring the shropshire hills - would recommend walking up to pole bank and the waterfall, beautiful views! The hut itself is cute, idyllic and extremely cost. It has everything you need for a weekend away and the bed is so comfy (like sleeping on a cloud)! Caroline is an amazing and lovely host who goes over and beyond to ensure her guests are happy - thanks for everything! If I could give shepherds hut more than 5 stars I would, would definitely recommend to anyone staying in church Stretton!

  • Beautiful setting, well equipt shepherds hut. Everything was very clean and Caroline and Tim were very welcoming.

  • The Shepards Hut is a little hidden gem. Lovely location about 10 minute stroll from the centre of Church Stretton and a stone's throw from lots of local walking routes. The panoramic views of the Long Mynd are fantastic. The space itself is really stylish and has everything you'd need for for a short to medium length stay. Bed is super comfy and the little window at the end of the bed is a fantastic way to wake up. Caroline was a great communicator and gave us loads of hopeful tips for local restaurants when we arrived. Would highly recommend.

  • Perfect cosy shepherds hut to stay in for a walking break. Lovely and warm along with lots of thoughtful touches in the hut. Bed very comfy and having a stable door allowed you to see the lovely views of the hills and then🌟 stars at night. Caroline was a lovely host and gave us lots of information about eating out in Church Stretton all within walking distance.

  • Such a great location, perfect for exploring Churchstretton town and hills .... loved the hut.

  • Lovely little hut, very private and cosy, lots of thoughtful touches and toasty warm even on a wet December weekend! We loved the area too and plan to come back in the summer to do some more walks. A wonderful weekend away - thank you.

Take a leisurely stroll through the pretty village before quenching your thirst and grabbing a bite to eat at the locally renowned Bottle and Glass Inn, just round the corner from this cottage. A charming cottage in a typically English village
  • A smashing place to stay in a great location to explore the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones. Very cosy and private.

  • This was a really lovely cottage and perfect for a quiet getaway... It was beautifully clean and there were some really thoughtful touches, like fresh flowers in both the sitting room and bedroom. The kitchen was very well-equipped and easy to work out how to use everything as there was a really helpful instruction book to help us navigate our way round all the different things in the cottage (oven, internet, tv etc) The surrounding area is beautiful, offering some lovely countryside walks, with Church Stretton nearby with some lovely independent shops, and Shrewsbury not much further should you want to do anything a bit more mainstream. Although we didn't meet Rachel and Mark as they were away themselves, Rachel was very quick to reply to messages and any queries we had, and very helpful at all times. The local pub, right behind the cottage was very friendly and we had a lovely meal there one evening. The accommodation offered value for money and was as I said lovely in every aspect. In summary, we were really happy with everything and would definitely return...

  • The Annexe is a beautiful space with absolutely everything you need for a cosy weekend away. It's an absolute bonus that the pub is next door, serving great value food (the best Sunday roast we've had in forever) and amazing ales, according to my husband! Mark and Rachel are lovely, accommodating hosts as is Hugo the dog! :)

  • Wonderful location x

    Paul2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely little annexe. We cannot fault anything about it. We felt totally at home, relaxed and snug. Rachel kindly made the bed up into a double for us rather than two singles. The cottage had everything and more to make the stay enjoyable. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and perfect for getting away from it all. We cannot recommend this little holiday home enough....fantastic value for money!

    amanda2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great few days staying in Picklescott. While the roads to and from the village are narrow they are quiet and Rachel's place is a great location to use as a base for exploring the area. Clean, quiet, comfortable and well-equipped. Biggest downside to the apartment was the light on the radiator at night. But a bit of micropore and a business card solved that. Can't be bad if that is the only fault we can find! :-)

Ruth's Retreat is an authentic Scandinavian Log Cabin in a beautiful spot surrounded by the South Shropshire countryside and you have your own private hot tub. The cabin has a large kitchen with deep freeze, fridge, washing machine, cooker and hob, dishwasher and all the equipment required. There are two bedrooms, one with views of the hills, the other with a garden view. Smart TV, Blu ray player and free Wifi. Central heating.
There is a garden area and decking area with hot tub and a covered barbecue all very private and fenced off.
The Log cabin is situated in a quiet location overlooking the Shropshire Hills and countryside. It is a 5 minute drive from the A49 where there is access to shops and amenities . There are also local stores in the closer vicinity. I do have two take-a-ways that deliver here. We are situated on the Shropshire Way and Lyth Hill, a local landmark is good for walking.
  • We absolutely loved Ruth’s retreat. It’s even more beautiful than the photos and the hot tub was gorgeous. Ruth is a real sweetie and we loved every minute! Thank you Ruth!

  • Me and my friends really loved Tom's cottage, an ideal space / size for a cozy weekend away with a partner of a few friends, we had some lovely evenings playing board games by the fire and cooking together. The cottage had everything that we needed, it's stylish, comfortable and is in a lovely area. We didn't had much opportunity to use the outside space due to bad weather but we had a lovely trip, enjoyed some short walk (due to the wind and rain), local pub visits and trips to nearby villages. The Bottle and Glass is a lovely pub, and the staff are very friendly. Tom was helpful through and we would love to stay again. A lovely pretty, quiet spot for relaxing few days in the countryside.

  • Gorgeous place in idyllic location! Beautifully fitted out and kept, perfect for a “get away from it all” holiday with all creature comforts! Everything works very well, even the brilliant rain-showers, what a treat ( no temperature variation, no sudden drop of water pressure) ! We stayed over Christmas, the place was warm and cosy. Very stylish and beautiful without being too precious, just right. Excellent wood burner, plenty of logs. Lovely little terrace and firebowl, nice gardens, we imagined it being superb in summer. The Shropshire Hills and especially the area around Nest are very beautiful, plenty to do and see. NT’s Carding Mill Valley is vey close and perfect for walk and tea/cake after.

The weather wasn't great but it didn't hinder our stay at all, we did a fab 6 mile circular walk up on striperstones then headed back to the Annexxe for a dip in the hot tub (which is truly amazing and really topped off our stay) This is a perfect place to come to get away from the stresses of every day life , we will definitely be back :) Digby made a friend in Arthur! Thanks again Alice Dan & Digby

  • We really enjoyed staying at June’s Shropshire retreat. The annex is a good size and has all amenities you’d need (including a mini oven which is pretty effective at cooking the odd bite) and the hot tub cabin is something else! A real treat for us and a rare find on Airbnb. Highly recommend if like us, you enjoy rural hideaways with extra special touches. Thanks June! Oh, and the local pubs are pretty good too!

    Gemma2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely homely place with outstanding views. Perfect for a nature break. Not a far drive to Shrewsbury and local pubs a short drive (or cycle) away. The use of the hot tub was ideal for our valentines break, perfect way to unwind as its a high spec tub with blowers, jets and lights along with the speakers for your own music. All the facilities you would need are within the annexe and June is a very welcoming and attentive host, ensuring you have all you need. Would recommend

  • Lovely cosy apartment, that has everything you need for a short break. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and cupboard basics such as oils and seasoning. Good location, 10/15 minutes from Shrewsbury and a short walk up the road is a nice pub where we ate at one evening. Don't follow the postcode, just use the directions Kathryn will send to you once you get to the village. I ended up outside a random farm house before stopping to read the email properly! Also, there are a few birds roaming around the grounds during the day time most of them are friendly and not interested in you at all but there was one that liked to chase us from the car to the apartment, haha! Overall a great stay.

"The sort of English countryside most of us have long forgotten surrounds you at this converted farm building near Church Stretton.” Sawday's Nestled on the Long Mynd in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Nest's location is blessed with myriad local walking, hiking and cycling routes and a feeling of solitude, whilst at the same time being near to the picturesque market towns of Church Stretton and Shrewsbury, and just a 10 minute walk from ancient Picklescott with 17th century inn The Bottle and Glass. At the end of a long private drive, past a lake and through a green tunnel of trees you’ll find Nest Holiday Hideaway – peacefully positioned in the sleepy, 13th century hamlet of Batchcote, a name derived from Old English meaning ‘Cottage by the brook.’ The elevation at Nest's position on the Shropshire Hills' magnificent Long Mynd (ancient Brittonic for 'Long Mountain') is nearly 300 metres, the air is noticeably cleaner and crisper, and a sense of the Alpine awaits. Nest Holiday Hideaway is a 10 minute walk from the ancient village of Picklescott, which has a wonderful 17th century inn and eatery called The Bottle and Glass. Picklescott also has its own 4.5 mile walk – winner of The Times’ Best UK Winter Walk 2018 – which starts and ends at The Bottle and Glass, a traditional English country pub serving delicious food, local ales and great wines in incredibly atmospheric surroundings. Discover spectacular countryside — including Carding Mill Valley, Caer Caradoc, The Lawley and Stiperstones Nature Reserve — from your door, on foot or by bike. Just 4 miles to town of Church Stretton — known as Little Switzerland — with 4 floor antique centre and collection of independent shops and cafés. 10 miles to riverside market town of Shrewsbury, first settled by 7th century Saxons, birth place of Charles Darwin, plus home to 660 listed buildings and a burgeoning boutique and café culture. 20 miles to architecturally-splendid Ludlow, mediaeval market town and gastronomic capital of Shropshire. 22 miles to historic Ironbridge and the Gorge Museums, World Heritage Site and birthplace of the industrial revolution. Hundreds of historical interest sites nearby: castles; magnificent mansions and manor houses; abbeys and priories; stone circles and myriad other stone, neolithic and bronze age sites; great affluence of Sites of Special Scientific Interest; and the Roman city of Viroconium.

  • Situated in a quiet village, this is somewhere you can guarantee a peaceful night's sleep. Ample off road parking and an attractive courtyard garden welcome you to the annex, part of a barn conversion that is rustic and very well presented. I was met at the door and shown round and given a key. The annex itself is small and cosy and perfectly adequate for 1 or 2 people. The kitchen has all the basic equipment for cooking meals, and no complaints with the TV or WiFi. Upstairs the bed is firm and comfortable, the room is cosy and very pleasant. Communications were great and Jill was very friendly.

  • Absolutely stunning cottage and perfect location for a nice quiet get away. The cottage was so cosy and we was treated to a chocolate cake and a bottle of wine which was really nice. There was everything in the cottage to ensure a really comfortable stay and the fire was a nice touch. The views from the gardens were amazing and the location was ideal for us to visit the historic Shrewsbury. Penny was really helpful with suggesting places to eat and local pubs and we really enjoyed some amazing food in The oak which was a short drive away down the lanes. All in all a great experience and Would highly recommend the cottage to any one wanting a nice peaceful escape in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Thanks again penny.

  • Penny's place is fabulous. It's even better than it looks on the photos. It is so comfortable and so beautifully furnished. There are lots of thoughtful touches like magazines to read, dressing gowns in the bedroom and a fully stocked games cupboard. We found it such a relaxing place to spend time. The views are lovely and the garden is very pretty. If you can tear yourself away there's so much to see and visit in the surrounding area. We really enjoyed our meal at the Royal Oak pub in Cardington that Penny recommended. We really hope to come back one day.

  • Absolutely beautiful and peaceful cottage!! Highly recommended!

    Joel2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is the most tranquil place you will find. Penny has set it up beautifully and thoughtful touches like a laid fire, cake and wine on arrival make for an amazing stay. It is in the middle of nowhere, but if you're looking for peace and the chance to explore the Shropshire Hills then you're in the perfect place! Come prepared with a food shop so that you can arrive, light the fire and enjoy the games cupboard (it kept us busy for hours!).

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is unusual with great features. The log fire was a treat to have and the whole property felt spacious, welcoming and very well designed and equipped. Very relaxing place to be and the countryside and views were outstanding.

  • Penny’s place is the perfect spot for a quiet break in the country. The cottage is in a lovely elevated setting with great views across to Wenlock Edge. Inside it is comfortable and well equipped. We enjoy cooking and it was particularly nice to find that the kitchen was well equipped. Penny provided lots of nice touches - cake, wine and flowers on arrival, liquid soap in the bathrooms and logs for the fire at the start of our stay. She was an ideal host - not intrusive, but sociable and ready to help out if asked.

    Steve2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to getaway from it all, this This property is the perfect place to be, right in the middle of the Shropshire countryside close to some beautiful villages and fantastic walks. Cosy 2 room annex set in ancient farm courtyard. Located within an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to the Long Mynd a stretch of hills popular with walkers and nature lovers. Provides an ideal base to explore the local area.
The barn is a separate annex to our main property and is completely self contained. • Main bedroom - contains a large king size bed that can be split into two singles if required • Living room/second bedroom - a spacious room with an L shaped sofa bed that converts to a comfy double - plus a seperate regular sofa • Bathroom - a large roll top bath, and separate shower cubicle • Kitchenette - a galley style kitchen with basic essentials combi - oven/microwave, induction hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. • Tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk provided • TV , hi fi and internet
We are set in a hamlet which dates back to 1394. Ancestors of the original landowners still live in the village and take an active interest in the community. There are plenty of scenic walks around the area and the Long Mynd stretch of hills is within easy access. There is no shop or pub in our hamlet but the town of Craven Arms is only 2 miles away. It has a well stocked supermarket, post office, bakery and a few cafes and takeaway restaurants. The village of Wistanstow is only a couple of miles by road or a 20 min hike across the fields . It has its own brewery attached to the local pub The Plough and a village shop. The medieval town of Ludlow, is a mere 15 mins drive and has a regular market, lots of independent shops and restaurants. Ludlow is renowned for its locally sourced organic food and hosts two food festivals every year. Church Stretton is a pretty market town only 6 miles away and makes a great base for walking up to the summit of the Long Mynd.

We were met by George who showed us around. The annex is immaculately clean, well equipped with everything you could need and incredibly cosy! All the beds were really comfortable, all had electric blankets which was a great touch. There was plenty of space for 3 of us and a dog, the utility room next door is a great space for cleaning muddy paws and boots. This is a great base for exploring Shropshire and we are already discussing a return trip! Thank you to Julia and George!

Lovely warm room in the old part of the house with a phenomenal view across the South Shropshire hills. Very peaceful place, great to unwind. Use of the kitchen/diningroom which has an Aga for cooking needs. Great location if you're interested in cycling or walking as we're on the Jack Mytton Way. Only a short drive to Church Stretton, Much Wenlock, Ludlow, Bridgnorth & Shrewsbury. Easy access to the Ludlow fringe & fayres, Hay book festival, Vfest etc Sadly not suitable for children u12.
Lovely setting in an ANOB along a private drive, with SSSI flower meadows just up the lane. A lovely warm house, with a very friendly, exuberant dog who makes everyone very welcome! We're in the process of slowly renovating, so no builders dust etc but the decor is rather tired at the moment. The bed is very comfortable and clean tho! The drive is rather rough, again a work in progress atm.
The Shropshire Hills AONB, market towns full of good food, excellent local pubs, interesting places to visit - Acton Scott Working Farm Museum, Stokesay Castle, Attingham Park, to name but a few. If you want something a bit different then there is, the Knighton Observatory, Midland Gliding Club & Church Stretton Golf club both on the Long Mynd. A stones throw from Wales! Great wildlife viewing opportunities including Foxes, Fallow/Roe deer and Red Kites. Breakfast of cereal and toast is included in the price!

  • Rachel's place is a great place to stay with beautiful views and lovely local pubs. The room is really nicely furnished and the bathroom is fantastic. Rachel and Dan were friendly and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed, including a lovely breakfast. We would recommend to friends and family as a perfect place to stay, relax and enjoy the countryside.

  • Would 100% recommend a stay here - Rachel is so friendly and helpful. The room is beautifully done and the bed is so comfy. Rachel bought up a delicious breakfast in the morning, which was a real treat. The room is well located to explore Shropshire and the pub 1 minute down the road does lovely food. We had a great weekend away and would definitely like to return.

  • Rachel responded to any queries before our visit and let us in to the property as soon as we pulled up. She made it very clear that she was on site all night and at any point we could make contact with her. The place is stylish and modern. Tastefully decorated with a very comfortable bed and spacious en-suite. Woke up next too some friendly sheep neighbours and lovely countryside views. Breakfast was presented and tasted lovely and delivered to the door at our requested time. An oldie worldie British village.

  • We had a great stay in Rachel and Dans place. Communication about arrival time was great and the space so warm and cosy. The local pub was perfect for a meal and few drinks with the log fire. There were lovely little touches within the room and Rachel shared local knowledge for walks within the area. Even during a very stormy night we didn't get woken up and the room stayed warm. An amazingly sized bathroom with a better shower than I have at home :) Breakfast was lovely, being delivered to the room at a time that suited us. All in all, a lovely village, a great place to stay and excellent hosts.
