  • One of the best airbnbs we've stayed in. Absolutely sweet, welcoming, very clean and comfy. Hayley and Scott have thought of everything, all the little things that show they care, and that make a place special. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit and would certainly stay again - highly recommended. Thank you both!

  • The place was amazing and Hayley and Scott were super responsive. Lots of cute little touches. We haven't stayed at a lot of Airbnbs but this was by far the best we've been too.

  • We were delighted with the space and amenities. It was bright, cheerful and nicely decorated. The apartment was larger than expected and sparkling clean. Haley and Scott were easy to reach when we had a problem with the door code, and they responded promptly. We highly recommend staying at this apartment. We would definitely return in the future. • I had a fantastic stay at Scott and Hayley's Airbnb! The apartment was so cozy and cute. I loved it! The space was super quiet, very convenient to every where I needed to go and sparkling clean. The extra touches like coffee, tea, a white noise machine and blue tooth speaker really added to my stay. As hosts, they were very reliable, attentive and accommodating to all my requests. I can't wait to visit again!

  • Heidi and Patrick created the perfect space for a quiet getaway. They thought of everything and we loved the games around the cabin. We stayed for a little winter retreat, the loft was cozy and the views were beautiful. Don't think about this twice, it's the perfect spot for a quiet retreat.

    Abbey2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Great quiet getaway. Could not ask for more. Thank you kindly.

    Joseph2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful place, hosts are kind and very hospitable. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Toshie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi's place is in a beautiful location! On the top of a river valley. Please take the time to drive on the country roads around her place - they're beautiful little canyons. In the winter, you need to use an ATV to get there and the heating is not perfect, but it's decorated very quaintly and is plenty warm in the loft for sleeping.

    Mary2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy. Quiet. Beautiful view and so, so relaxing. We brought our three young kids and spent three nights snowed in over Thanksgiving. Our hosts were very communicative and helpful in getting us settled in. It was a wonderful stay.

  • Tammy has the best customer service. She was out of town at the time that I stayed with her but checked in regularly. Beautiful Country setting in a beautiful little village.

    Vickie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a great little get away spot. It was awesome seeing the 8 deer and eagles in the back yard. The horses were very friendly to my dog. Overall, I would recommend this Airbnb if you looking for a quite, peaceful and pleasant getaway. The host is very responsive. Thank again!

    Jessica2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at Tammy's place several times and are never disappointed.

    Tammy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a big two-story "ranch" style house with a wide front porch and a saddle just inside the front door. It is nestled in a quiet little valley in the bluffs just 10 minutes west of Winona. Tammy uses no scented detergent in her linens, so it is perfect for those of us who are chemically sensitive. Tammy is attentive in a very low-key way, kindly offering tea and privacy. Best to visit the horses when they are hungry for treats, rather than right after their breakfast!

    Hilda2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was my wife and I's first experience here on Airbnb. We can't tell you enough how amazing it was for us to be spending a week at Tammy's place! We needed a place to crash before our lease at our new apartment started. She was such an amazing host! Her hospitality was beyond amazing! She have the cutest cat on the planet, Goulash, who spent a night or two in our room (which we let him because he is so adorable!). Tammy also have 2 horses, Charlie and Sugar. She let us help her move them and it was an amazing experience! Also, Tammy made some custard and she let us have some and it was delicious! Overall, Tammy is a sweet lady! We can tell because of how caring she was to everyone in her house. She was such a good role model for us, too! We will miss this place!

    Hunter2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic getaway with country charm. Tammy communicated quickly and prepared such a welcome within her beautiful home. Be sure to say hello to Sugar, Charlie and Goulash. We'd definitely stay there again!

    Chris2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a calm and relaxing stay, as well as the beautiful scenery on the property. Tammy was very welcoming and made sure we had all of our questions answered before we arrived. Per her suggestion, we hiked SugarLoaf Trail in Winona. It was perfect this time of year!

    Kelsey2019-05-12T00:00:00Z

A roomy, but cozy upstairs loft with den, kitchen, bedroom with new queen bed, and full bath. Guest wifi and television with cable included. Shared entrance with homeowner but completely private space with locked door at top of main stairs.
The most common description guests have of our loft is clean, comfortable, and cozy. It could be called "modern rustic." The den and sleeping area is an open design, with a 3/4 wall separating them. The kitchen and bathroom both have doors for privacy--if you are an early riser, go into the kitchen, close the door, and make your coffee and enjoy the view out the kitchen window overlooking the nearby bluffs!
We are in a quiet neighborhood on the west end of Winona, a mile and a half from downtown. It's a convenient location, midway between the Winona State University and St. Mary's University campuses. We're also a few blocks from WSU's west campus, Cotter High School, the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts, and the entrance to the walking\bike path around Lake Winona. A comfortable, clean, affordable place to call your own while visiting Winona!
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Brian and Betty's place! They went above and beyond to provide thoughtful touches that made the stay exceptional. Would definitely recommend.

    Gretchen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for our stay in Winona. Betty & Brian we’re very clear in their communication. We really enjoyed our stay! Would definitely recommend.

    Andrea2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Brian & Betty’s loft was the perfect place to stay in Winona! The space was clean, inviting, and homey; not to mention the chocolates, coffee, Popcorn, and good movie selections!! Brian and Betty also provided us with a schedule of Winona’s weekend events! Thank you for the wonderful stay!

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Brian and Bettys. It’s clean, cozy, and relaxing. They left us a little print out of what’s going on in the area that day. Such a cute little place.

    Kristin2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Brian and Betty were there to greet us and answer all our questions. Everything in the space was clean and well-kept. It was perfect for our needs, plus very quiet, safe, and comfortable. Highly recommended and would stay there again.

    Jean2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I was just in town for a few night! Definitely way better than a hotel. For one person this is more than enough even with two people this was great. The kitchen was stocked with tea, coffee, and even a drying mat for the dishes! Brian and Betty make this place extra special with all the little added details to events in town to a description sheet of all the things the loft offers ☺️. Also such a great help with directions during the winter time when Winona has alternate side parking!

    Kate2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very comfortable and cozy place to stay in. If traveling for business, it has great work area.

BRAND NEW LISTING!! Two Bedroom Mid Century Modern HOUSE in the heart of Winona! Just blocks from Winona State University, the Winona lakes, biking, hiking, walking and the beautiful serenity that Winona offers! I am easily reachable by phone/text; however, I would like you to enjoy your stay without me bothering you!
I bought this adorable 1930's home in 2005. As a young child, I grew up next door and watched this home being skillfully moved on to it's current location in 1968 after Winona State University expanded it's campus into nearby neighborhoods! I was in awe of the process and instantly fell in love with this charming cottage! When the home became available (I am the 3rd owner!), I decided I wanted to own this precious home! Everything I have done in this home has been done with my heart. Most everything has been completed over the years; including most new windows and interior and exterior paint this last fall. I love the look of the mid century modern furnishings, so I decided to furnish this home in that direction. I was given guideance by one bedroom set that I inherited from my parents. With the exception of this one bedroom's furniture, all of the furniture is brand new; bought within the last 45 days. So please keep in mind, new furniture does have a little "stiffness" to it! After you pull up into the driveway (which will easily park 3-4 cars), you will enter through the side entrance of the home. You will have to go up 5 steps prior to entering the kitchen/main level of the home. Both bedrooms, living room, kitchen, dining and bathroom are on one level. If you have the need to do laundry, please keep in mind the washer and dryer are located in the basement. You will have to go down approximately 17-20 steps to get into the basement and then back up them!!! The main level of the home is all hard surfaces: mostly hardwood flooring (with the exception of tile in the bathroom). There is a bathtub in this property...not a walk-in shower. So the bathroom is NOT handicap accessible. There are plenty of new, fluffy towels to use! The kitchen has been remodeled with mission-style maple cabinets and black appliances. The stove is electric. The kitchen is also fully stocked with pots/pans, coffee maker, toaster, cooking and eating utensils, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, plates, glasses, coffee cups, wine glasses, kitchen towels, etc. The brand new dining table seats four. There are additional items located in the built-in cabinet in the dining room; including placemats. The living room features all brand new furniture. The chair is a reclining chair. There are blankets to wrap up in in the drawer of the living room chest, and in both benches in the bedrooms. The house stays cozy warm in the cold months! The home has internet although no cable at this time. However, a Firestick is provided for your own Netflix, Hula, Disney, HBO, Amazon Prime, etc. accounts. Bedroom One features a queen-sized mattress and sleeps 2. Bedroom Two features a full-sized mattress and also sleeps two. The bedrooms are small but very quiet and comfortable. No more than four people are allowed renting the home due to Winona's strict rental laws!! The fireplace has NEVER BEEN USED since prior to me buying the property!!! So PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A FIRE!!!! It is not fire safe! I hope you enjoy staying in my wonderful Winona home. I just love this home with all my heart....and I hope you feel the same way during your stay here. All who have stayed with me say they feel so very comfortable in my home! This is a quiet neighborhood (did I mention I grew up next door? and know ALL of the neighbors??!!); so there is a NO LOUD NOISE/MUSIC after 11:00 PM. Please respect the neighbors!! Winona State University is four blocks to the east. NO SMOKING INSIDE THE HOME!! NO FIRES IN THE FIREPLACE!! NO LOUD NOISE/DISRUPTIONS/MUSIC AFTER 11:00 PM. Thank you!! And please enjoy your stay!
I grew up in this neighborhood; actually, right next door! This home is 4 1/2 blocks from Winona State, less then a half mile to restaurants and bars, and just a few blocks from the Winona lakes with access to running/biking path!
  • What a perfect place to pull into for a Winona get-away!! This home is so clean, well cared for, well organized and well stocked. The location was just right to explore Winona’s special spots. The host was very prompt with responses and instructions. We look forward to returning and will stay here again!!

  • Cute little cabin had everything we needed and is located close to Winona. It was a bit of a hike up to the 3rd floor bedroom but was a unique and memorable place.

  • Tanya/Damon’s place was very unique, and had all the amenities you might need. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay, and helped with anything we needed. I would highly recommend staying at Tanya/Damon’s Airbnb if you’re in the Winona area!

  • 5 star review! We loved this cabin. It was quaint, homey and exactly what we were hoping for. Tanya was a fabulous host and was thoughtful and personable. We’d love to come back!!!

Completely renovated, now with A/C! Mississippi River views from every room in the house. You can even lay in bed in either bedroom and see the river! We are from the Florida Keys, where locals are known as Conchs (pronounced "konks"), so we named this beach-themed cottage the Conch House. Love the Conch House, but need more space? We also have a 3 bedroom next door, affectionately known as True North. Book both for larger groups.
We took this adorable 100 year old house down to the studs. Everything is brand new and super clean. It's quaint and modern all at the same time. And, oh, the views! Bring your binoculars! Other features include: - New kitchen - Refinished original hardwood floors - Brand new memory foam mattresses - Brand new sleep sofa - Huge, luxurious, walk-in master shower - Heated floors in master bath - Marble-topped vanity in master bath - All new fixtures in guest bath as well - Ceiling fans throughout - All new windows and doors - Enclosed front porch with 180 degree views of the Mississippi River and the bluffs - Side deck with grill, table & chairs, firepit and, you guessed it, more amazing views! - Boat ramp 1/4 mile away
When it comes to things to do in and near Minneiska, it's an embarrassment of riches. We are halfway between the quaint river towns of Wabasha and Winona (15 min from each). Wabasha is where Grumpy Old Men was filmed and is home to the National Eagle Center. Winona features the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Pickwick Historic Mill, and the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. We are also 30 - 45 minutes from the charming towns of Lake City, Red Wing, Stockholm, Fountain City (home of the Mississippi Thunder Speedway), and other historic river towns. You will never run out of opportunities for dining and shopping, not to mention the art galleries, antique shops, and museums. Enjoy hiking and bird-watching at nearby parks, including the John Latsch State Park, Great River Bluffs State Park, and Sugarloaf, to name just a few. Minneiska is perfectly situated for hunting and for year-round fishing, with a boat ramp just a quarter mile away. There are also several nearby golf courses to choose from. We are right in the middle of the Great River Road Wine Trail, amidst 11 great wineries. There are three wine festivals a year (Spring, Summer, and Fall). You can even help with the harvest and then partake of a gourmet picnic among the vines! The Coffee Mill Ski Resort is 20 minutes north, and we are surrounded by snowmobile trails with spectacular river and bluff views. The bird-watching from the front porch is unrivaled - geese, tundra swans, bald eagles, white pelicans, sandhill cranes, and so many more. They're all at your doorstep. We are right next door to the shop of an amazing wood carver, Harvey Langseth. Check out his beautiful work. Last, but not least, we are 2 minutes from Buck's Bar & Grill and the Eagle View Bar and Grill - both great, convenient options for awesome food, service, and views!
  • Great views! Very relaxing time.

  • This house is a little slice of coastal heaven right on the Mississippi river

    Vinay2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Conch House was a fantastic place to stay at. From cleanliness to comfort, the entire house was exactly what we were looking for. Joy & Mike we’re in touch if they were ever needed and also were available if we were looking for recommendations around the area. The King bed was so comfy that if we didn’t have other plans I could have stayed in bed all day. The Conch House is just a hop away from Winona where we enjoyed food and drink and several state parks that were awesome for hiking. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with all the things you need for a home base, I would recommend this Airbnb!

    Sterling2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Joy was always quick to respond and her answers were professional and detailed. She is both a flexible and understanding host. The expansive river views were pleasant. The Florida decorations inside made us forget about the cold outside. All in all a lovely stay.

    Idelle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet clean lovely place to relax and watch the eagles from the front porch. Food and museums just quick drive from house. Wonderful scenery! We will be back in fall to check out autumn leaves and eagles again!

    Judy2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Conch House. This is by far the best Airbnb I have stayed at. It was sparkling clean with comfy beds and pillows. It had a very functional and well stocked kitchen and the views were great. A wonderful pre-holiday getaway to relax. Thank you Joy & Mike!

    Lesley2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • It definitively lived up to the reviews! I bundled up every morning with my coffee and sat in the 3 season porch to watch the sunrise, eagles flying by, trains and barges. The woodcarver next door is great..ask about his famous Guinness Book of Records holder great grandfather. Along with all of the other recommendations I would highly recommend a drive into Winona and visit the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, they have Picasso's, Monet's, Whistler, O'Keefe, Renoir, just to name a few famous artists in this really really great museum right on the river.A steal at $7

    Angela2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy place that was spotless! Beds were comfy, towels were soft and the master shower was amazing! Loved the heated floor in there too. Was happy to find coffee, bottled water and a few other odds and ends on hand. Location was great to walk up to Bucks bar and have dinner/drinks and play some pool. We also enjoyed the outdoor fire pit (made s'mores) on the back porch. Thanks for allowing us to relax at your place :)

Relax in a quiet family neighborhood surrounded by a unique garden and large backyard. The great room was designed for cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. Spill onto the front porch to enjoy the views of the bluffs and watch people stroll and bike past. Close to hiking and biking trails of Holzinger and St. Mary's, and just a 15 minute scenic bike ride to the center of town.
My husband is a fine furniture maker. Together we remodeled the space three years ago. Many of his pieces are in the home including the cottonwood dining table, a hanging cabinet, cabinets in the kitchen, a few sculptures and wall hangings. If you are in town from the end of June through July, check out the Art of Fine Furniture exhibit at the History Center, a show he curates featuring the work of many artist in the region. Referencing the saying a shoemaker has no shoes, our cabinets don't have doors or drawer faces. There is a cat that stays in this space when it is not rented.
In addition to access to recreation, this home is close to a few restaurants and grocery store.
  • Anne’s place was great for our family’s weekend stay! A comfortable home, very clean, easy to find and good location! Quick responses to inquiries, and knew we were traveling with our baby and had the portable crib already set up for us.

    Amy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for family visiting and very nice to be close to my extended family’s gathering venue. Everything we needed to cook for the holiday meals was available. Very accommodating hosts.

  • This was a great place for visiting our son in College. We love the open floor plan in the front part of the house with the large custom family table. While this trip we decided to go out due to school-related activities, it would be perfect to have a spaghetti dinner with family. We look forward to staying at Anne's place for future college visits and have recommended their place to others.

We have a 2nd property next door - the Conch House (Airbnb title - "Gorgeous River Views"), which sleeps 6. Rent them both for large groups.

  • My sisters and I stayed at Joy and Mike's place for a weekend Mommycation. Their place was perfect for us! The house was charming and very clean. The sunrise over the Mississippi river was so beautiful and peaceful each morning. We enjoyed watching Bald Eagles soaring over the river as well. There were great local recommendations for food, wine, and entertainment in the guestbook, but the house was so cozy with such a beautiful view that we never ventured out. They have a very spacious kitchen and we enjoyed making our meals in. We will definitely be back!

  • We’ve stayed here for our last two annual hunting trips and this place works perfect for us. Plenty of room for everyone, great view of the river, and Joy is always very helpful and quick to respond to any questions.

  • 5 of my sisters and I chose this lovely spot as a halfway meeting point between our homes in Wisconsin and Minnesota to spend time together. There was enough room in the spacious kitchen for all of us to prepare our meals. The windowed front porch was our favorite spot to be with such a beautiful view of the river, especially sipping morning coffee while watching the sun rise. The master wood carver, 2 doors down, welcomed us in to learn about his craft and some wonderful local folklore. That was a treat! We’re planning our next gathering and will return.

    Marti2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

Beautifully located in the bluffs, just north of town, and near many tourist attractions including: the Great River Road Trail (and Wine Trail), shopping, dinning and more.
    Quiet escape with beautiful scenery.
While we don't have many neighbors, we try our best to respect their privacy. For this reason we ask that you do not drive further down Kennebec Rd as it becomes a private drive and we don't want to disturb the neighbors!
  • A great location and cozy cabin. There was nothing else we could have asked for. It is such a beautiful area. Recommended!

  • Tim & Stephanie’s cabin and outdoor area was very well kept and beautiful. It was super clean and had all the basics we needed for our 2 night stay. They even left our the little grill we asked about and some firewood for the outdoor fireplace. It’s definitely a home away from home. They also provided us with amazing wi-fi which was great because our cell phone reception was patchy.

    Mayra2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice clean space in a gorgeous location. It's the perfect spot for exploring the river road. Hosts are prompt in their reply to any questions or needs you may have. Would stay there again.

    Stacy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little get away spot! If you are looking for a central location to explore all that the great river road has to offer, this is the perfect place. It is secluded, the stars are incredible, it has a propane and wood fire pit, lots of dishes to cook with and is perfect for a couple or small group of friends/family to call home for a few days. From Tim and Stephanie's house, we were able to explore Fountain City, many wineries and breweries, Winona, Alma, Perrot State Park (Brady's Bluff hike is incredible), fishing and canoe rentals at Merrick State Park, Suncrest Pizza Farm is a must and more! They also had apple trees on the property we were allowed to pick and eat, a great view down the way from the house and a really cool drive with lots of bluffs. They were very responsive and accommodating. They live on the property but were very good about giving us space and privacy, but also very friendly. We would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.

We knew there was something special about the Village House the first time we walked in. Even though it's been completely renovated, the charm and historic character of the home has been carefully retained. One of the most surprising features of the home is how large it feels once you're inside. There are plenty of cozy nooks as well as comfortable gathering spaces for conversation or games. Our guest especially appreciate that each bedroom has a full private bath so that no one has to share.

This place is perfect for a short stay or a long day. Very comfortable and roomy. 400 Mbps WiFi, Roku with Netflix. Very comfortable place to stay. Certified Airbnb through Winona county which means meets or exceeds all standards for licensing. A inspector physically came through this apartment for certification. This is a main floor unit. Inside, we tried to think of what would make you most comfortable. We put in a king size bed with comfortable bedding, the kitchen is set up with everything you need. What i love about this place is you are close to restaurants, shopping and walking trails which are all only literally minutes away.

I have nothing to complain about, and nothing else that I would expect! WiFi included, comfortable furniture, plenty of space for the 2 of us. Thanks again!

  • David’s place was super clean and very convenient. I read the previous reviews so we knew it was an older home in a student housing area. All of our questions were answered promptly and the facilities were great. The shower had plenty of hot water which was a bonus for a nice long shower! The king bed was super comfortable. We will stay here again when we are in town.

Erik and Jodi created their own dream of a second life for the home, which led to a comprehensive renovation project in 2016 to modernize the building, turn it into a retreat and build an addition to accommodate more guests—all while maintaining the unique Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired style of the home.
The neighborhood is a mix of residential and commercial. There a cafe and bar in walking distance.
  • My family and I spent a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at Goodview Haven. The house is perfect for entertaining and it's a great place to spend a weekend with family. There are lots of different spaces to move around and relax. We loved exploring the house, but most of our time was spent in the kitchen which is wonderfully spacious and fully stocked. The weather prohibited us from enjoying the huge back yard, but it was lovely to look at. This house is also wheelchair accessible, making the Holiday that much less stressful for my family.

  • The camper was sparkling clean when we got there and Lisa was great. She explained everything we had questions about and she was more than willing to accept questions at any time. The property was beautiful and communication was great. Highly recommended

  • It is our first time of staying inside an RV, and my daughter was excited. Not as comfortable as living inside the hotel, but it is a great experience to sleep inside the RV. The shower has a issue when we used it on the first night, and Lisa did allow us to use the shower in her house. She is a very nice host, and very helpful.

  • We had a great time at Lisa’s place. It was so fun to have the camper experience without having to haul it around. This camper had lots of space with fine furnishings and all the supplies you need to cook your meals. Winona is a beautiful area and close to Perrot State Park. I loved the seclusion and beautiful country view from the camper. Lisa included special touches that made our stay even more enjoyable. We hope to return some day.

Two houses next door to each other, perfect for large groups! True North has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the third bedroom has a double bed. The Conch House has 2 bedrooms (one with a king bed and one with a queen bed), 2 baths, and a queen sleep sofa. Together, the two houses can sleep up to 12, however, the sleep sofa is probably best for kids or 1 adult.
The Conch House: We took this adorable 100 year old house down to the studs. Everything is brand new and super clean. It's quaint and modern all at the same time. And, oh, the views! Bring your binoculars! Other features include: - New kitchen - Refinished original hardwood floors - Brand new memory foam mattresses - Brand new queen sleep sofa - Huge, luxurious, walk-in master shower - Heated floors in master bath - Marble-topped vanity in master bath - All new fixtures in guest bath as well - Ceiling fans throughout - All new windows and doors - Enclosed front porch with 180 degree views of the Mississippi River and the bluffs - Side deck with grill, table & chairs, firepit and, you guessed it, more amazing views! - Master bedroom with king bed and en suite bath - Guest room with queen bed and adjacent bath - Boat ramp 1/4 mile away True North: This is a large house with lots of room to spread out and views you have to see to believe. There is one bedroom and one bath on the main level, and two more bedrooms upstairs. - Completely enclosed 4-season front porch with amazing views of the river and the bluffs - The entire home has just been redecorated with refinished original hardwood floors, fresh paint, new bedding and towels, etc. - Open plan living room/dining room - Huge kitchen - All new windows and doors - Central air and heat - Side patio with fire pit, grill, seating (more fabulous views) - One bedroom (queen bed) and one bath downstairs. Two bedrooms upstairs with a queen and a double bed.
  • Fun place with lots of space for large gatherings or multi families.

  • We only got to spend a few days at True North and the Conch House as it was a quick trip. We will absolutely look to stay here again the next time we visit! We were traveling with my sister-in-law and kids and it was nice to have our separate spaces. The Conch House looks newly renovated and the master bath shower was fantastic! Nice to have a smart TV and some games to relax in the evening. Morning coffee on the porch was nice watching the boats and barges. Overall loved our stay!

    Jenny2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at both houses and they were amazing. The town is a little bit off the beaten path but the views are directly over The Mississippi River. Great place to stay we highly recommend it there were eight of us and we fit perfectly.

    Marc2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Truly enjoyed staying at true north and the conch house. Both homes were clean and had everything we needed. Sitting around the fire pits overlooking the Mississippi River and staring at the stars was a joy.

  • Joy and Mike had the perfect place for our NYE weekend! We comfortably slept 10 people between the two houses. Our group was able to migrate from house to house all weekend. Plenty of room to cook and socialize. It was great! We also walked down to Buck’s (a local tavern) and ended up spending a few hours there! The view from this AirBNB is fantastic and it was very easy to find. Highly recommended! Thanks so much, Joy and Mike!

  • Me and my family we enjoy our staying at the house for 1 nights to celebrate our holiday. It was our first experience with AirBNB and it could not have been better! The Check In was super easy and the house was amazing. Everything you need in a normal household was provided. If we searched for something, we always found it and if not we call and Gerri and Lisa provide it. The house was really cozy We felt like home. Sadly we couldn’t stay any longer. The house was also really quiet. Gerri and Lisa made the experience even better, They are always there if we had any questions and replied within a few minutes. If we come back again someday (and we're planning that!) we'll definitely book at Gerri and Lisa again. Thank you Gerri and Lisa for your hospitality and kindness.

Prairie School design high above Mississippi River. Wooded hillside. The pinnacle of quality, privacy, beauty, convenience and luxury. Absolutely unique/unrivaled. Sleeps 4-9. Privacy inside and outside if desired. 5 min. to Winona or Fountain City.
3-4 BR, 3 BA on two levels. 4-acre wooded hillside, 5 min. from downtown Winona, in Wisconsin. Nestled into 4 acres of hardwood and birch hillside high above the "Great River Road" (St. Rd. 35), this luxury home boasts an incredibly beautiful panoramic view of the Mississippi River and bluffs of Minnesota. Enjoy a striking view incomparable on either side of the Mississippi. There are no neighbors for at least a quarter of a mile, and no neighbors are visible from anywhere on the property. The first thing you'll notice is the lock and dam below you about 1 mile away. The interstate bridge and downtown Winona open themselves up to you a few miles further in the distance, while Sugarloaf Mountain on the east side of Winona, 5 miles in the distance, caps your view from the huge windows on every level. This is one of the most beautiful and unique houses you will ever see. A "Prairie School" design, the original construction began in the mid-1950s, finally completed by the current owner in 2006. The interior features additional custom cut and installed "Winona Stone," on all countertops throughout, including custom stone bookshelf. The stone was sourced from the same company used by the original owner in the 1950s. The kitchen sink is carved from one solid piece of limestone, all designed, custom cut and installed by the Biesanz Stone Co., complementing the open concept kitchen. The master bedroom features a private “en-suite” bathroom with a walk-in closet. There is a large concrete deck leading out from the first floor with a gas grill for guests to use. There is also a deck off the main floor dining room, and off the master bedroom. There are panoramic views of the Mississippi River from most rooms and exterior decks.
Fountain City, WI is 2.5 miles to the northwest and Winona, MN is 5 miles southeast of the property, and across the interstate bridge. Both cities offer a number of restaurants/bars, activities, and events throughout the year. Winona offers grocery stores, pharmacies, and access to other necessities. Fountain City is a quaint city of approximately 900 people. It is full of historic buildings, colorful shops, restaurants-- even a wine tasting room. Complimentary Visitor’s Guides for both Winona and Fountain City are available at the house when available to us. These guides offer lots of great options and activities. Winona, Minnesota is the home of the main campus of Winona state University. The population of Winona is approximately 25,000, but 10,000 of those are students, many of whom are not in the area during the summertime. This area of southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin is a sportsman’s paradise with amazing educational and cultural opportunities. Located in the area are the following: Winona hosts a Shakespeare Festival, a Beethoven Festival, Frozen River Film Festival, and Midwest Music Festival, just to name a few. Enjoy Steamboat Days, an Ironman Triathlon, and boat races on the lakes. You name it, the area is full of fun and exciting things to do for guests of all ages and interests. Two Wisconsin State Parks with myriad opportunities for hiking, canoeing/kayaking, fishing, just being in nature, and so much more. These parks offer some of the best and most beautiful scenery in the area. Merrick State Park: 5.5 miles to the northwest Perrot State Park: 15.5 miles to the southeast Besides the public boat landings in the state parks, there is a public access boat landing 2.5 miles away in Fountain City. The property sits right below the famous “Indian Head Rock,” which is one of the most recognizable Mississippi River landmarks in Wisconsin. This landmark is most easily seen within a mile of your approach from the South. Latsch Island Beach is located just 4.5 miles away. Enjoy the public beach and picnic areas on those hot summer days. There are two local wineries in the area: 7 Hawks Vineyards, Fountain City: 2.5 miles to the northwest. Elmaro Vineyard, rural Trempealeau: 11 miles to the east. Caution: whenever exiting the driveway, look both ways especially to the north. The hill and the bend in the road keep oncoming vehicles out of sight up until just a few hundred yards from the driveway. It is also a popular place for vehicles to pass others and the driveway is out of sight for them.
  • Another great stay at this incredible place right on the Mississippi River! You cannot beat the view, never gets old waking up to coffee on the balcony and looking out over the river. Scott is an excellent host, very responsive and makes sure all your needs are met. The place is kept in great shape, everything was well cleaned. Two years in a row now we have picked this as our vacation place for the annual fall road trip my brothers and I take. Love the scenic drive coming up the river along 35. So many great hiking options along the river, Perrot State Park on the WI side, and Great River Bluffs State Park on the MN side. Lots of excellent restaurant options in La Crosse, this year we picked Le Chateau, which was just amazing (say hi to Eva if you go there)! Be sure to stop at The Historic Trempealeau Hotel and get your self a walnut burger. Highly recommend spending time in this area along the Mississippi, and in particular staying at Scott's place!

    Greg2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very unique and fun layout for the guest with open areas but also privacy. This was my second time staying here as the first stay was so nice and this time lived up to my expectations. The house is very clean and had the amenities needed for out of town guests to enjoy the whole house.

    Scott2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Plenty of space indoors and out. No neighbors which I found was the best part.

    Andy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent views of the river and valley, and quite private. Very easy check-in process.

    Peter2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just excellent! Very elaborate design, plenty of space for everyone in our group. In late fall, with most of the leaves gone from the tree line, the view from the deck and kitchen table are just incredible. Was so nice waking up to that every morning, sipping coffee and enjoying the surroundings. Also making a fire in the custom fire pit at night, relaxing with a glass of wine. Not far from many fun things to do in Winona, La Crosse, and the surrounding area. Looking for a good hike? Check out Perrot State Park. Then stop at Trempealeau Hotel for lunch. Also found great hiking at Great River Bluffs State Park. You will not be disappointed with Scott's place! He's a great host, and the place it self is very nice.

  • Amazing deal on an amazing place

    Daniel2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house has a lot of room to spread out and was very clean. Just know that if you have the windows open in the summer, although the house is not close to the tracks the trains going by can be loud. The host is very accommodating and very responsive.

    Scott2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a super unique, beautiful home...more porches and decks and beautiful outside space than you can believe. Overall the home is in great shape - and it's a 5 minute drive into the small town of Fountain City or the bigger town of Winona. A great place for friends or a couple families to visit that beautiful part of WI/MN.

    Ashley2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was beautiful and clean. The surroundings were nice and there is a softball field and playground but beyond that, unless you are a hunter (or love fishing) you will need to drive at least 15-20 min to the closest attraction (a winery!) or bigger town (Alma and Winona). Also, just a note about the General Store nearby: it's closed on Sunday and may close before the scheduled time on the other days (like happened to us). Also, the Waumandee House Restaurant is closed on Monday. So unless you bring your own food (make sure you ask for a fridge to be provided in your cabin) the food options on site may be limited at times. If you plan to make a fire in the communal fire pit, make sure you bring your own wood, as there is only some provided on site.
