Places to stay in Bamburgh
Puffin Place is a great little holiday hideaway set in the historic conservation area of Seahouses and is perfect for couples or small families / groups. The cottage is in a peaceful location but just a minute from the harbour with the Northumbrian Coastal Path just at the end of the lane.
We bought Puffin Place in April 2018 both in order to be able to use the cottage ourselves and hire out to visitors. It takes just an hour to get to from our home in Newcastle, and once there we rarely feel the need to use the car except when we're taking a day-trip to one of the many nearby sites of interest. In the time we have spent in the Seahouses everyone seems very friendly, even by North-East standards. Seahouses is a 'resort village' with something for everyone and is ideally located in the centre of the Northumbria coastline. All the other attractions of the Northumbria coast are within a short drive: to the north (Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and Berwick); to the south (Craster, Beadnell and Embleton) and inland to Alnwick and a multitude of picturesque villages and other attractions. The cottage is tucked away in a quiet location in the oldest part of the village, among the smokeries and fishermen's cottages, but just a few minute's walk from the bustling harbour and the centre of the town. Despite its history - it was built in around 1850 - the cottage has been fully modernised and run as a popular holiday let since 2001.
Puffin Place is is located within a 2 minute walk of the Seahouses village amenities where there's a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Guests can take daily boat trips available to the Farne Islands, the home of seals and seabirds and explore the surrounding area filled with wildlife. There are beautiful sandy beaches to the north and south with lots of places of interest just a short journey away. Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island are a short run up the coast and the historic market town of Alnwick along with castle and gardens is a 20 minute drive inland.
  • Lovely cozy cottage set in the heart of town close to anything you might need. Leave the car behind and walk or bus the whole area. Great little base. Many thanks to the owners

  • This was our 2nd visit to the Bolthole and not only were we not disappointed, like most sequels, but delighted having arrived to some really nice touches since our last visit and a sense of immediate relaxation - exactly what we needed after a long year!! Can’t recommend the place and the host highly enough

  • Absolutely perfect for a base to go exploring Northumberland. Lovely clean and welcoming flat with everything you could need to enjoy your stay. We had 4 adults staying and we had plenty of room to do jigsaws, eat, store our things and generally not feel like we were on top of each other. Great value and excellent location.

  • Lovely apartment, great location. We had a brilliant time in Bamburgh.

    Kate2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, bright, clean home to explore all that this beautiful area has to offer.

    Lynn2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Bolthole proved ideal for three middle aged photographers. The place is spotlessly clean, the car parking ideal and the Castle pub kept us fed and watered. Even the sun shone which was a definite bonus !

    Tim2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve stayed in a couple of places described as “Bolt Hole’s” on Airbnb and experienced them being rather compact. This apartment felt spacious, is immaculately clean and has both all the amenities to self cater and the perfect location for several pubs/restaurants if you’d rather eat out! We chose the latter and weren’t disappointed with either of the two pubs, the bustling hotel and delicious restaurant in our short stay, but we were slightly disappointed that we didn’t stay longer - we couldn’t fit everything in to our 3 night stay..... Guess we’ll have to come back 😉

    Kelvin2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Just had a great four night stay at the Bamburgh Bolthole. The accommodation is sparkling clean, light and airy with everything you need. it is a pleasure to come back to after days out exploring the lovely Northumberland coast and surrounding area. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area.

A cosy coastal cottage steps from Seahouses harbour. This upside down house is a light airy cottage with cosy but modern furnishings. A brand new log burner has been fitted in February 2019. There is parking for one car. The cottage is situated on the Northumberland coastal path, perfect for visiting local beaches and a well behaved dog is very welcome. The Schooner Inn opposite has live music at weekends.
This cosy cottage has a double bed in a ground floor bedroom. The bathroom offers a bath with shower over and lots of hot water. An upstairs sitting room allows for a light and airy living space with a well equipped kitchen. A log burner and electric heating makes the cottage a cosy place to stay.
St. Cuthbert's Cottage is situated in heart of the harbour area of Seahouses. All local amenities are in walking distance and the cottage is perfectly situated for all Northumberland has to offer, including the fantastic beaches. St. Cuthbert's cottage is opposite The Schooner and Black Swan Inn. The Schooner hosts live music on a Saturday evening.
  • Cosy cottage and an ideal bolt hole for a long weekend spent walking with our dog. Thank You

    Kim2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay at St Cuthbert's Cottage, and wish I had booked to stay for longer. The location is great, very close to the harbour and with several pubs nearby. I enjoyed a visit to the Olde Ship Inn which had been recommended to me by several people. In the cottage, the upstairs kitchen is well equipped for preparing meals, and the lounge area is cosy and comfortable. The downstairs bedroom was also comfortable, and I slept very well during my stay. This was a great base to start exploring Northumberland, and I'd love to visit again.

  • Fantastic airbnb. Snug and charming with lovely touches. Really loved having the log burner lit, made really easy as it was all set up ready to go. Everything we needed in the kitchen to book a meal. Stayed for a wedding in nearby Ellingham Hall. Highly recommend.

  • This is such a cosy and comfortable little place. It is the perfect place to explore the area from. Norman was a fabulous host and welcomed us. Thank you.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Cuddy’s Rest in February 2020 (the weekend Storm Dennis hit!) but Cuddy’s Rest was so warm and cosy we didn’t even noticed. Loved the wood burner and the kitchen had everything we needed for staying in with a home cooked meal. Great location for day trips, only a couple of miles from the A1, we visited Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Holy Island. Would definitely stay again.

    Beth2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay, accommodating host and in good distance of many local tourist spots

    Grace2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a short break in an ideal location equidistant from Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and Berwick. The space was cosy and warm with great kitchen facilities that enabled us to cook.

  • Our second visit, and just as good as the first. A beautifully presented apartment with a feel of luxury. Some very nice touches including a welcome pack and smart TV, great for an evening in front of the well-stocked stove after exploring the area. A few minutes walk to a good choice of pubs & restaurants. A pleasant stroll to Bamburgh castle and the beach. 20 minute drive to Lindisfarne. Very highly recommended, will happily go a third time!

    John2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • David's apartment was lovely and cozy. Great location within walking distance of the village but not on the main drag. Had lovely touches for Christmas as we stayed over new year. I would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it.

    Catherine2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, cosy and spotless flat, lovely gifts upon arrival. Love it here and would highly recommend to anyone.

  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house and surrounding area is beautiful

    Sarah2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a good time in this flat. It was spacious, clean and well equipped and the location was ideal for access to Bamburgh and the beach. The welcome pack and tips for where to eat were really appreciated and Bamburgh is a lovely place.

    Adrian2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was the second time that we stayed in this apartment. The location is excellent, being literally over the road from a fantastic beach. We ate out at a couple of recommended places and enjoyed some beautiful coastal walks. Bedrooms are compact, but the living room is spacious and the kitchen is well-equipped (no dishwasher, but this wasn't a problem for us).

    Lydia2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend staying here. Fantastic flat with the large living room as the highlight. Really easy walking distance to the village but a couple of hundred years away from the pubs and restaurantsso it's quiet at night. The view from the living room bay window across the fields to the sea is just wonderful

    Andrew2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great location about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Bamburgh and 10 minutes from the castle and beach. A very spacious and comfortable living room, small kitchen and bedrooms but we didn't spend much time in those. We had sunny weather and enjoyed sitting in the garden too. Loved having the full tv package including Netflix and Now.

Cosy 2 bedroomed cottage on the outskirts of Beadnell Village with beautiful views towards the sea and the Cheviot Hills. The cottage has a well equipped compact kitchen, a cosy lounge with french doors on to the patio where you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
Beadnell enjoys both a rural and coastal landscape and is a perfect base for discovering Northumberland
  • The Bothy is a lovely cottage in a great location for exploring this part of the Northumbrian coast. 15 min walk to Beadnell or beach. 10 minute drive to Seahouses for supplies. Lots of thoughtful little touches and really dog friendly. Would have no hesitation in recommending the Bothy to anyone.

    Tim2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in February. We met Sam’s brother who was very friendly and asked how our stay was and if they could improve anything. Our dogs settled straight away. It was a great spot close to Beadnell. We enjoyed a walk down to the beach each morning and was close enough for a walk to the Craster Arms on an evening. The locals and landlord were really friendly and welcoming and the dogs enjoyed it there too. Lovely views from the back garden. It was a very comfortable and cosy cottage. It was well heated. We loved the cake, wine and chocolates. There was milk in the fridge, coffee, tea, sugar and hot chocolate. There was everything we needed for our stay, Sam really has thought of everything and we were so lucky with the weather. We came back and thought we would book again for the Summer but it was all booked up for our dates which didn’t surprise us. Obviously everyone else who stayed there had the same idea. It’s in a great location for Bamburgh etc. Thank you for our fabulous stay. We had a lovely time and so did our dogs. I’m sure we will be back.

    Mark2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived we found cake and wine waiting for us at the cottage. Amazing! It was clean, comfortable and very safe for our dogs. Only 10 min walk to the beach. We highly recommend the cottage you won’t be disappointed.

    Di2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is one of the cosiest and mot comfortable places we have stayed. There were a lot of thoughtful touches (the welcome cake, chocolate and wine was lovely) and everything you could need. It's set just outside of Beadnell Village (about a 10 minute walk in) with a couple of other cottages and is ideal for if you need a bit of peace and quiet. We will be back (maybe even with some four legged friend next time as we noted that the cottages were extremely dog friendly). Thanks to Sam and all - it is truly a lovely part of the world to stay.

    Sian2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, well equipped home close to fab beaches. Super comfy with nice welcome touches - including for our dog. Would definitely recommend.

    Ruth2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is a cosy little place. We felt immediately at home, and a lot of effort has gone into making it comfortable and convenient. Lots of thoughtful touches and a warm welcome. Would definitely visit again.

    Oliver2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy spot in a fantastic location. There were some great welcoming touches - a homemade cake and milk and wine in the fridge, the cottage was well-equipped and warm (we stayed in February). There was also a wealth of (up-to-date) information about things to do in the surrounding area.

Edna's House offers a decent size double room ideal for a couple or single. You're welcome to bring and make your own breakfast. Tiny and remote, Chathill is neatly placed half way between Alnwick and the coast. It has a nearby train station with links to Newcastle for a day's shopping. It is also close to local wedding venues at Ellingham, Newton and Doxford. There is no TV in the house and limited wifi, so staying could be your ideal digital detox. I look forward to welcoming you.
Edna's House is a semi-detached cottage with a small garden. The house also has a little kitchen, sun porch and living room with open fire. You are welcome to make use of the house alongside me. I have an odd work schedule so I'll let you know when I'm going to be around.
Chathill is a lovely quiet village. The neighbours are friendly but not intrusive.
  • Virginia’s house is perfectly located right next to the station so easy to get to by train. Even though Virginia was at work when I arrived I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The room was warm and cosy and the bed was comfortable - I slept very well. Virginia also gave me some useful advice about places to eat, taxis and getting the early train. It was really a pleasure to meet Virginia, and I highly recommend her house as a place to stay.

My place is close to the seafront, the beach, restaurants and dining. You’ll love my place because of the accessibility of being close to everything that you need on holiday. After a great day walking or playing on the beach followed by fish and chips, there is nothing better than snuggling up in front of the wood burning stove. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids) and furry friends (pets).

  • Gavin’s place was in a great location. The house was modern and clean, with a homely feel.

  • A spotlessly clean house in a lovely quiet location. Within walking distance to pubs, shops and beach. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

    Louise2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, right behind the seafront near the centre of town. Great pubs nearby, and lots of walking. The house it finished to a great standard, beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Reviews are correct in saying the logs from the petrol station don’t burn well- we would take our own if we went back. Gavin sent us loads of threat local info and was very responsive. We parked 2 cars on the street outside the house with no issues. Would definitely stay again.

    Jodi2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cottage, stylishly decorated with a high end finish. Fantastic location and everything you could possibly want. Loved the log burner and all the little touches that made it really comfortable. We took our 7 month old and the high chair made it much easier. Hopefully we’ll be back!!

    Kay2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, quiet, dog-friendly pubs about 30 feet away. A nice getaway in a spacious flat.

    Caryanne2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Well equiped kitchen with everything you can think of. Comfy cottage within walking distance of pubs, amenities and harbour. Gavin is responsive and helpful plus he provides lots of local information including an OS map which was much appreciated. We went in the winter and the cottage was warm once it had got up to temperature following being empty for a few days and the log burner is a bonus. There's still plenty to do in the winter but not all the castles are open - but Bamburgh was....and the beaches are tremendous, no matter the weather. We had a great stay.

  • Rens retreat really did not disappoint if anything it exceeded expectations! This was our first stay using airbnb and Ali made it very easy for us and guided us through everything which was perfect and very reassuring. The home itself was just that - you didn’t feel like you were in a hotel or holiday home, you felt at home as soon as you walked through the door with the attention to detail on the little homely touches. There was nothing we needed that wasn’t available and everything was done to a fabulous standard. We would definitely return!

    Ruby2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect base for exploring the area. Lovely and clean and cosy. Village shop is great and the Craster Arms was very nice. Lovely little touches and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

  • Lovely spacious light, quiet and clean room with large ensuite. Easy parking outside and coffee machine in room. Friendly welcome - all good really.

  • Lovely spacious room with a large en-suite bathroom. Very quiet location, just 5 minutes walk into bamburgh village and a couple of minutes to the beach

    Sarah2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location near Bamburgh , walking, and beach. Unfortunately I didn't meet Sarah, but she promptly responded to all queries and messages, arranged for us to get keys, etc. Appreciated the coffee machine and pods. Private.

  • Perfect location for our walk along the coastal path and close to pubs and restaurants in Bamburgh. Thanks for a lovely stay.

    Charlie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly host, cosy space with large washroom, well-situated for the Dunes or the Castle or a short walk into the village!

    Victoria2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great setup with a lovely bedroom with a fantastic view over the fields to the rear of the property. We always book ‘entire place’ but this was very private indeed. The en-suite shower room is really fresh, modern and has a great shower. There is a great coffee machine with pods, which adds real style. The position is super close to the dunes and easy walking distance to Bamburgh Castle which looms over the beach. Sarah was a extremely nice host and very helpful, works full time but is very quick to respond with any query. We found Bamburgh the most lovely place to eat and Sarah’s recommendation of the Potted Lobster to eat dinner was an excellent choice. I cannot recommend the location enough. A highly successful and very pleasant stay.

We also provide a selection of books, dvds and board games. • A spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable space which will leave you wanting for nothing that you wouldn't find at home!

    Rachel2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely first class! Wonderful, cosy cottage with a high standard of furnishings, that are immaculate, clean and comfortable. Attention to detail and the supplying of kitchen basics , such as tea, coffee etc; to bathroom products, shower gels, shampoos etc. Not forgetting our four legged friends who were also superbly catered for. Rachel and her local contact Paula, were extremely attentive and on hand to sort out any issues, if they were to occur . Wholeheartedly support Rachel's policy of no smoking in the property and hopefully all guests will too. A real oasis of calm and fantastic recharge of batteries. Close to local amenities ( Co-op, fabulous selection and good discounts!) The independent food market, also exceptional with artisan local produce. Can recommend The Salt Water Cafe in Beadnell, as well as the many beautiful beaches ( dog friendly) and local historical sites, such as Dunstanburgh Castle ( fab coastal walk, just a touch breezy!) Marvellous little winter break in such a fabulous part of the country. Will definitely rebook and have no reservations in recommending this truly outstanding cottage.

    Shirley2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little find. Clean, warm and extra little touches to make it special. Very near to centre of town, harbour and beach. Definitely worth booking next time for a quiet winter break.

    Nick2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A truly exceptional find! Morningsyde cottage is an amazing place to stay- a superb location, so comfortable and warm, spotlessly clean- AND dog friendly! We had a peaceful and relaxing break, and would happily return in the future. Seahouses itself has plenty to offer, and there are also so many idyllic areas to visit close by; and to be able to return to a warm and cosy cottage at the end of the day was the icing on the cake!

Cosy, welcoming traditional station worker's cottage in a rural setting close to the coast. We're situated close to the railway at Belford on the Northumberland Coastal Route, only a mile's drive from Budle Bay and 2 miles to Bamburgh Castle and stunning beaches.
The cottage was originally a railway worker's home, and has been upgraded to retain its original features but provides modern comforts too. So there is an open fire in an original Georgian fireplace in the lounge, and a Rayburn in the well-equipped kitchen, but this also runs full central heating and there is a dishwasher, separate oven and hob. Ground floor: Kitchen/dining room with Rayburn, oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge Living room with open fire, basic Sky and Freeview TV, DVD, CD. Bathroom with bath and shower over. First floor: 2 double bedrooms 1 with double bed, 1 with small double and single futon, travel cot available. Outside: Enclosed lawned front garden, large grassed open area to the rear. Garden furniture. Fuel, Oil CH, electricity, and use of WiFi included
The cottage makes a great base for any season to tour Northumberland or the Scottish borders, Holy Island, the Cheviot Hills, ancient sites, coastal villages and market towns. Alnwick Castle and its famous Garden is 12 miles away, where there is also a theatre and weekly market. Belford with farm shop, cafes, restaurants, supermarket, pubs and post office is 1 mile away. Only a mile away there is a bird-spotting paradise at Budle Bay and it's 2 miles to Bamburgh with its beautiful sandy beach and castle.
  • Julia’s cottage is in a great location - easy to access the beautiful countryside and towns nearby. Cottage itself is lovely and cosy, and the fire is a bonus (it was freezing when we were there!). It’s right next to a railway track, but we didn’t find this disturbing and quite enjoyed listening to the trains! We’d definitely come back.

    Deborah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We've just returned home after a long weekend stay at station cottage. It was a great base for exploring the area. A very enjoyable stay, we loved playing board games in the living room on the cosy sofa, in front of the beautiful roaring open fire place. The bedding and towels were all impeccably clean and Julia had made it festive with tasteful Christmas decorations and left some bubbly and shortbread for our arrival. The cottage was surprisingly spacious yet also cosy. The cottage is close to the railway line as the name suggests, but didn't cause us any disturbance.

    Samantha2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Railway cottage is lovely, it very comfortable and very well equipped. Its location is ideal for Alnwick, Berwick, Bamburgh Castle.

    John2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third visit to Julia’s cottage, and we’ll be booking again for next year. We find our stays so comfortable and relaxing. We love the Rayburn in the kitchen and the fireplace in the living room, we love watching the trains go by and reading on the comfy settee, we love the many fabulous local walks and beaches, spending time at Barter Books in Alnwick, visiting Holy Island and Berwick.

    Andi2019-11-09T00:00:00Z

The passing trains didn't bother us at all, they do start early but don't run through the night. Very comfortable furniture, lovely open fire. We had everything we needed . Would recommend.

  • A lovely stay in Northumberland, and the cottage makes the perfect base to explore the area from.

  • We had a very pleasant stay at Julia's cottage, which has a number of charming features like wood floors and bespoke kitchen. We found everything as expected and were able to let ourselves in using the key safe.

  • Jo's place is very central in Seahouses, only a few minutes walk to the town centre and harbour area. It was lovely and clean with everything we needed for our stay including dog bowls. Comfy beds, spacious rooms and a large kitchen. Parking for one car at the back was very handy as there is no immediate parking on the street. Jo replied quickly to any queries we had and was very nice. Thanks!

  • Amazing location and a beautifully tucked away place for a weekend away. The Shepherds hut could not have been more comfortable and was luxurious inside and out, you did not want for anything and the views are spectacular. Thank you for the welcoming touches of the eggs, cookies & bottle of wine! A perfect hide away and location to be able to enjoy the stunning Northumberland coast and counytryside. Thank you!

    Nick2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cabin in a gorgeous location. We arrived to a jar of cookies, fresh eggs and a bottle of merlot, so after a long drive that was definitely a welcome sight. Even though we visited in cold and windy February, the hut was toasty warm even through the night when the wind was blowing a gale! Our favourite part of the 4 days we stayed in Northumberland was when we went on a local boat trip out to the Farne Islands from Seahouses; a must for any wildlife lovers (we saw dolphins AND seals!). We will definitely be returning to the area and would recommend this hut to those who love cosy spaces and beautiful views (especially couples). Thanks again for a great stay.

    Lucy2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing - so well-designed and beautiful inside. We thought it was actually bigger than it seems in the photos. Victoria left loads of local info and even a bottle of wine and some cookies - much appreciated! It was perfectly clean, the bed is really comfy, and the field that it's in is really private because it's surrounding by tall hedges/trees. Lovely views and a great location close to loads of places on the Northumberland Coastal Route. I've recommended it to friends and family and would visit again myself :)

    Katie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Hut is in a fantastic location with everything we needed for our stay provided. Really enjoyed our few days away in the cute and cosy hut!

    Jens2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great little getaway place with stunning views set near the Northumberland coast line. With views of Holy Island from your bedroom window to the fields of green surrounding you a truly peaceful and tranquil getaway spot. The cottage has everything you need and we were even gifted some cookies, wine and fresh free range eggs upon arrival. Top class host and top class destination.

    Philip2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great little shepherds hut - lots of thoughtful touches - loved the cookies 🍪 - thanks

    Melissa2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria's beautiful and cosy shepherds hut was everything we wanted for a quiet and peaceful few days in beautiful Northumberland. Ideally located and excellent directions made it easy to find, even in the dark and we were welcomed warmly with a lovely selection of goodies which was a thoughtful touch. Small but everything you need for a short stay and the bed was super comfy and shower was excellent! Lots of handy information for the local area including maps of walks was great and we had an amazing time celebrating the new year. Great outside space too which would make it a perfect summer getaway in warmer months!! Highly recommend!

    Kelly2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little retreat for two people. Victoria is a very welcoming host, the hut is a perfect place to escape city life with easy access to lots of beautiful beaches and Bamburgh and Lindisfarne a short drive away. I would love to return.

The Net House is a bright but cosy cottage in the heart of Old Seahouses, right by the harbour and just a short walk from one of the many beautiful beaches on the Northumberland coast. Well placed for local amenities, The Net House is just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Seahouses where you will find a well stocked Co-op as well as an array of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Bamburgh, recently voted Britain's favourite seaside resort, is a short drive (or a 3 mile coastal walk) away
The Net House is bright, airy and cosy all at once. Contemporary decor with a mid-century twist, it's the perfect beach retreat in summer while the addition of a large window woodburning stove, books, jigsaws and boardgames sets the tone for snuggly winter breaks . A cracking dog-friendly pub, The Black Swan, with its open fire is just across the way. The Net House benefits from open plan living all on one level making it a perfect choice for families. There are two bedrooms - one double and one twin - both with en suite. We love (well behaved) dogs and we welcome two at The Net House for £20 per dog. While there is parking for two cars, manoeuvring into the space can be tricky. For that reason, we recommend reversing in and driving out. And don't worry, you'll be an expert by the end of your stay! Find us on Instagram @thenethouse
Seahouses is the biggest town in this part of Northumberland and makes an excellent base for exploring the region. Make sure you try Box Pizza on the road out of Beadnell. Drop us a line and we'll tell you where the best (hidden) beach is...
  • Kelly’s place is a very lovely, quirky and stylish place to stay which is very close to the beach and literally in the town! The place is very lovely, with the extra of a log burner providing that coziness after a long walk on the beach, plus dog friendly is an upside! Check in was super easy, great amenities, super close to everything and Kelly is easily reachable as well if needed! She also gives great tips too if you’re unsure of where to go! Would 100% recommend.

  • A lovely hidden away cottage two minutes walk from the centre of Seahouses. A really nice living space and a great base for exploring the north-east

    James2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Seahouses. It is a stylish, warm and comfortable cottage in a great location, close to the harbour, shops and pubs, and easy access for great walks on wonderful beaches and along the Northumberland coast path. And given the central location it is also really quiet - we weren't even disturbed on new year's eve. Generally very well equipped and the wood burning stove was great. Access to the parking really is very tight - we managed with our small car, but would have really struggled with a larger car, especially if the tenants in the adjoining cottage which you have to pass also have cars parked

    John2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a perfect little spot in the heart of Seahouses. We were so happy to walk in a find a lovely Christmas tree - such a wonderful festive touch. Would highly recommend taking a stroll along the beach from Seahouses to Bamburgh - such a beautiful part of the world and we had the perfect base from which to explore Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break

    Rachel2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly... 5 🌟 all round! 100% recommended! Lovely, clean and comfortable cottage with the added bonus of a log burning stove and being dog friendly. Just wish we had booked for longer! A lovely 18th century building, one of the oldest properties in Belford, that has a coffee shop below. In a friendly village only 5 miles from picturesque Bamburgh. Belford has pubs, restaurants, play parks, shops, chemist etc Very central for all attractions in Northumberland only half hour and you’re in Scotland. Near the coast with all its castles and beaches, and only 12 miles from Holy Island. Alnwick is only 14 miles away with the amazing castle and Gardens, also Barter Books.
An open plan living area and kitchen. A very large bedroom with a double and single bed. There is a small bathroom with shower. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you may need for self catering. We provide dishwasher tablets etc
The village is small and friendly with a choice of pubs and eateries. Note we are across a lane from one of the pubs.
  • We had a lovely stay at this property. The weather wasn't the best but we had a lovely time exploring and this property was ideally located to explore the coast. We loved Lindisfarne! Great views of both country and sea and is in an ideal location for exploring Northumberland
  • A really cosy lodge. Everything has been thought of, from pets to children. Cake, chocolate and wine waiting for us on arrival was an added bonus. I’d highly recommend staying at Shepherd’s Lodge. The beach and lots of things to do are a short distance away keeping everyone entertained.

Comfortable, quiet, harbour-front holiday apartment with spectacular views and space for a maximum of 6 (ideal for a family of 4) on the edge of Seahouses. Views out to the Farne Islands where you can see countless sea birds - or stay put and watch the wildlife from the apartment. We feel we ought to share our space - everyone is welcome. Get in touch if you have any questions.
The views from the flat are second to none in this area - with an uninterrupted view over the harbour and out to the Farne Islands (we have seen harbour porpoises, dolphins and seals from the living room!). The flat has been a family holiday home for about 25 years and so the property has a cosy, homely ambience. While it is fantastic sitting out on the balcony on a warm summer's eve, the property is equally enticing on a stormy winter's day with the log fire raging.
The area of Seahouses is very quiet but only 5 minutes walk from the pubs and increasing number of eateries in the centre of the village. You may occasionally catch the scent of Swallows Fish Shop as they smoke their fish. As Seahouses is still a working harbour, the fish is often extremely fresh - go and see the fishermen as they land their catch and try to strike a bargain with them! The lifeboat is at the centre of things what with Grace Darling being a local heroine and all.
  • More than leaving in 5 stars! Beautiful place with amazing views. Perfect place to recharge!

    Lyn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. The flat is in a beautiful location, the view out of the living room window is stunning, the fireplace warms your evenings and David has thoughtful touches that go the extra mile: like the telescope, the many hoard games, the welcome pack with cookies and crisps, the skin balm and the shower cap. We felt that we were being truly treated. Highly recommended!

  • This is a lovely, comfortable flat in a stunning setting. It is well equipped with everything you’ll need to cook for yourself and feel right at home. It also situated close to all the eating places and amenities of Seahouses and the beautiful Northumberland coast and beaches. The view across the harbour and out to the Farne Islands is spectacular and is a birdwatcher’s dream. The parking space is a bonus too. We will definitely come back.

  • Flat 4 Cliff House is perfect for families/groups that enjoy walking, beaches, pubs and just sitting watching the world go by. Its quiet, warm (Overnight Heaters and an Open Fire), beautifully presented and clean - the host provided an extremely full Information Pack and some very nice welcome gifts. The amenities were excellent with a Co-op, well stocked and only 5 minutes walk away. We plan go again, specifically to go on the Farne Island Trip, which though running did not suit our busy schedule over the Festive Period

  • Really great place. Lovely flat in a great location, a fabulous view and extremely hospitable host. An eclectic mix of furniture and ornaments giving it a really homely feeling, plus an amazingly equipped kitchen. Self check in really easy with lots of helpful instructions and lots of leaflets with information on local things to do. Thoughtful hamper and milk in the fridge on arrival.

Family and pet-friendly, Swallows Nest is in the heart of Northumbria, in the historic village of Bamburgh, that is often described as the jewel in the crown of the Northumberland coast and castles region. It's location is ideal to explore all this; situated on a small private development called Armstrong Cottages, it is just a short stroll through sand dunes to the breathtaking beach that Bamburgh castle overshadows. Swallows Nest offers a welcoming retreat with all your home comforts.
Swallows Nest was built in the early 1990s behind the original listed Armstrong cottages. These quaint green timber clad houses were built at the turn of the century as temporary homes for Italian stonemasons at Bamburgh Castle. Swallows Nest was designed to strict planning requirements to ensure that the new cottage was in keeping with the style and personality of the original cottages. The result is that Swallows Nest has much of the charm of a ‘beach house’ with its timber clad facade, but benefits from spacious internal planning, new internal fittings to a very high standard and a lovely light interior. With three spacious bedrooms it offers accommodation for six to eight guests. However, one bedroom comes with 4 single beds, ideal for family groups or children sharing. There is a spacious open plan sitting room with open fire perfect for relaxing with family and friends. The dining room offers plenty of space for family get-togethers. There are two bathrooms, one closely located to the downstairs bedroom, which makes it ideal for any guests who have reduced mobility. The fully enclosed garden has a sunny, generous timber deck, ideal for eating alfresco. Outside there is parking on the private drive for up to three cars and the Armstrong Cottages square has a peaceful fresh open feel with views of the surrounding countryside, dunes and Bamburgh Castle. The big skies and starry nights are very special!
Just under a mile away, Bamburgh village offers lovely country pubs, village stores, including a fabulous butchers renowned for its home made Bamburgh Bangers! There is also a children’s play area, tennis courts and a cricket green in the village for all to enjoy. We also have membership at The Ocean Leisure Club in Seahouses - a private gym, pool and spa.
  • Great place to stay, just over the road from the dunes

  • Keeping three children happy on a holiday can be a challenge, but ours (15, 13 and 9), plus our lurcher, all LOVED our stay in Bamburgh. The location of Swallows Nest just couldn’t be better - a hop and a skip across sand dunes (5 mins) and you’re on a beach with sand that could give the Caribbean islands a run for their money. Rock pools, beach combing, dunes to hole up in, waves to surf - it’s the best beach once seen. The house itself is lovely. Homely, warm, spacious, peaceful. Plenty of room, all the kitchen stuff you need and a good shower. We would highly recommend a trip to the Lobster Pot (book - it’s busy). Not cheap, but completely delicious and great service. I can’t wait to return to Bamburgh. With miles of open sand, skies to die for and castles everywhere you look, I think we could come back every year for many to come and we still wouldn’t cover everything Northumberland has to offer.

  • We had a wonderful week staying at Swallows Nest. The grandchildren loved all the toys and games provided, all age groups are catered for. The house is only 10mins walk to the beautiful Bamburgh beach. Easy walk into Bamburgh. We were three generations and it was a perfect holiday. Great location for the beach and the boats in Seahouses to the Farne Islands.

  • Great location and perfect family cottage. We enjoyed being able to grill and eat dinner at the table in the backyard. Lots of fun games and puzzles in the house to keep kids busy. Short walk to the beach. Johanna provided fresh flowers as well - which made it feel extra special. :)

  • Well equipped property in a great location

  • You cannot fail to relax here - everything has been thought of and provided for adults, children and even one lucky dog to enjoy!! You are literally just across the road from a most stunning beach and a ten minute stroll from the lovely town of Bamburgh with it's magnificent castle. The cottage is even bigger and better than the photos suggest and has a really comforting feel - huge sofas and chairs, a log fire, loads of space for everyone and a convenient decking area at the back with barbecue. We spent our evenings playing some of the (very many) board games provided and slept really well in super comfortable beds. We booked Swallow's Nest for my 60th birthday week-end with our family and Johanna left beautiful locally grown flowers, a welcome cake and a lovely card - a much appreciated personal touch. Just the most perfect place for a relaxing family holiday by the beach.
