Places to stay in Chebeague Island
A unique experience on Chebeague Island (a true island--no bridge). The Studio is a converted loft of a 135 year old barn remaining open to the raw rafters. Two bedrooms have been walled off. The rustic living area includes a kitchen and private bathroom w/shower. The sitting area opens to a large deck overlooking the ocean. Property includes shorefront for picnics, boating and swimming. It's a short walk to a large white sandy beach, the Chebeague Inn and the Stone Wharf ferry landing.
The Studio has a private well and the water is drinkable and regularly tested. The septic system is old, please do not flush any personal hygiene products. There is no garbage disposal, so please be aware of what is put in the sink. The kitchen sink drains slowly. Included are a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, range, outdoor grill, lobster cooker, pots, pans, dishes, paper products. hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, cleaning supplies, a first aid kit, iron and ironing board. Please let us know if other amenities are needed to make your stay more pleasant. We provide nutritious and fun snacks and milk. Internet, TV, DVD player, and a Donkey Kong Junior Arcade machine (set on free play) are included. Our deck has been completely rebuilt. Nonetheless, we ask that children be supervised when they play on it. The large picnic table and electrically operated awning make the deck perfect for dining or just lazy lounging. The bedrooms are partitioned off rooms with open rafters thus no sound privacy. We include a User Manual with details of the amenities and history of the property. Feel free to ask any questions and give any suggestions.
The East End of Chebeague Island is noted for its captains houses, the Back Shore (in front of The Studio), Hamilton Beach, the East End Point, and the Chebeague Inn. The short half mile walk from the Stone Wharf, ferry landing for the Chebeague Transportation Company (CTC), crosses the Great Chebeague Golf Club, a challenging nine-hole course. For the latest on local happenings, events, and local organizations, visit the "Chebeague Island News website" (can't link to it here, but a search for "Chebeague" will quickly find it for you).
  • Nancy’s Studio in Chebeague was the perfect place to stay for a weekend on the island. Nancy was very responsive to all questions, check in and check out were perfect (including van rides to and from the ferry), and she even provided a Pack n Play & baby quilt for our son. Very thoughtful amenities & snacks laid out throughout the place. Would recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful island!

  • Nancy and her husband were so nice. They helped us get all of our stuff up to the studio and were quick to communicate when we had questions. The place itself had everything you could imagine. We had such a great time riding our bike around the whole island, visiting the local museum, and having lunch on a local beach. There is a grill, with a nice porch. We ate outside for every meal and even had a small fire on the beach! Netflix to wind down at night and plenty of room to cook. We definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to come out and visit Chebeague.

  • We love the views from the deck and the short walk to Hamilton beach. Nancy and Dave are always just a phone call away. As an artist I loved the history of The Studio. You can really relax all day l9ng.

    Marie2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • There are few better ways to while away a day than reading and napping while sitting in the comfy chairs under the canopy down by the ocean. The huge deck also offered an excellent view, and with the grill enabled us to relax all weekend without ever having to go anywhere.

  • The Studio is truly our dream vacation spot. My husband and I got engaged AND married on the property. Nancy (& her husband David) are the best hosts!

    Kel2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at the studio! It’s perfect and the best base for exploring the island! Will definitely visit again!

    Ashley2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was a wonderful experience. Being on the island is its own way of life and we enjoyed partaking in it. You'll have to come find out for yourself. The studio is very clean and quiet. The view from the deck is lovely. There were very comfortable Adirondack chairs by the shore. We enjoyed exploring the island by foot and by bike. It was a fun adventure coming by ferry. Make sure you tell Nancy and David whether you are taking the Yarmouth or Portland ferry because they arrive at different places on the island! The snacks in the studio were also great!

    Erin2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The rustic, arty space was charming and quiet with a very comfortable couch inside and a great table and chairs outside under a large awning overlooking the water. Great for sunsets and viewing the sailboats. Plenty of room for a couple of couples or kids and lots of space to spead out and make art. Very close to 2 great beaches. These are lovely people I hope to see again!

My husband and I live in this old sea captain's house on 2 acres at the water's edge. Please thoroughly read our Rooms for 8 listing to ensure you have a full understanding of guest accommodations. The Tuck-away, at the top of a secondary staircase, has easy access to the first floor lav, outside shower, and includes use of the 2nd-floor bath, well-equipped kitchen, and public rooms of our Greek Revival home built in 1873, on an island accessible only by ferry.
Our home, one of the Stone Sloop Captains' houses built in the mid 1800s, is situated on a lovely 2 acre property at the water's edge and accommodates 8 in 5 rooms on the second floor: Garden View $75-1 twin bed; Walter's Comfy Room $150-1 king or 2 twin beds and chaise; Captain's Room $125-full bed and love seat; J's Cozy Room/full bed $75 for 1, $100 for 2; & C's Tuck-away Room/twin-$63. The house is walking distance of the CTC Ferry, Stone Wharf, beach, museum, library, store and restaurants. Our property is smoke free, inside and out, but feel free to bring along your favorite beverage to sip while you sit on the back bank and watch the birds and boats or just relax in the hammock. There are flowers and trees, and a cat that lives in the owner's quarters. We have beds for a total of 8 guests in 5 rooms (3 two person rooms and 2 one person rooms) on the second floor of the original sea captain's house. Two two-person rooms and 1 one-person room have total privacy. The other two rooms, adjacent to the Captain's Room, are "pullman" style, similar to a train in that you must walk through one room to get to the next. This is perfect for a family or close friends. The first two rooms have full size beds. The third room has a twin size bed and access to the secondary staircase to the first floor. All beds in our home have memory foam toppers, plush mattress pads and at least 400 count cotton sheets. The rooms, on the original second floor, share a bathroom centrally located at the top of the main staircase. The outside shower (available April - October), private and constructed with blue stone, and a first floor lav are also available to guests to help streamline readying for scheduled events.
One can find many things to do on Chebeague Island: reading a book, taking a nap, painting, walking the roads or wooded paths, biking, sailing, climbing the rocks at Deer Point, walking the sandbar to Little Chebeague at low tide, bird watching, fishing, soaking up the sun or taking a dip in Casco Bay, collecting sea glass, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, visiting the Museum, Library and Doughty's Island Market. May through October, Ebb and Thyme, the Chebeague Island Inn, Slow Bell and The Niblic offer delicious foods.
  • Wonderful historic place, great communication, provided breakfast!

    Zach2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and John are warm and gracious hosts who will instantly make you feel welcome in their cozy, well-appointed and casual, friendly home! They supply a wonderful breakfast, a map of the island, and bikes. The island is perfect if you are looking for quiet, seashore exploring. Highly recommended!

    Virginia2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is my third time staying at Mary's home, and I only hope I can come back soon. Mary and John are consummate hosts. They go beyond making sure your time on the island is special; they've treated me like family over my visits so much that Chebeague feels like another home at this point. I can't recommend this enough, especially if you live in a city and want to unwind and slow down. You'll keep coming back.

  • Quiet and beautiful corner for a lovely family. The delay was perfect and I really enjoyed my time there.

    maiyan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and John are friendly and welcoming to guests and full of interesting information about the island. Hop on a bike and explore then return to the house and peaceful cove.

  • Lovely home.

    Sarah2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and John are extremely kind and generous and hospitable with the sharing of their beautiful home. It is an old house (I think they said from the 1830s, with lots of history and jam packed with historical family heirlooms, trinkets and pictures). The bedroom was smaller than I expected, but perfectly adequate, comfortable and very sweet. Family was very accommodating and extremely generous with their time and space. I was able to keep my food items in the refrigerator, use their bikes and beach towels. They gave me lots of suggestions about places to go and things to do. Their back yard is a beautiful garden, that leads out to the water. Overall it was a very comfortable and relaxing stay

    Sarah2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay. Mary and John’s instruction (parking and ferry) were simple and clear. I was able to arrive earlier than check in but they accommodated my arrival by picking me up. John and Mary showed me around the property, suggestions, a map, and a bike. It was perfect, like staying at a friend’s parents home. Oh and breakfast was great too. I was able to cook whenever I woke up and it held me over until making it to Acadia National Park.

Rustic cottage that's been in my family since 1893. Ocean view on a mile around Island With Beach Access, Open field for all sorts of games etc. a great island for small walks, very friendly neighbors with spectacular night views of Portland and the stars with no light pollution. 20 min to Freeport for shopping and 20 min. to Portland for Night life,Dinning, Work.Etc.
Rustic 1893 Cottage. Upstairs in winterized with sealed insulated walls and heating and carpeting. Downstairs still has the very rustic feel of the history of the original cottage, fire place and couch and love seat and original rocking chair my grandmother use to sit in for hours and look at the view. Many memories in this magical place. Hope you make some of your own.
Surrounded by family and history. open field we share with family friends for over 100 years. and they are very sports oriented for a good game and time for all. open spaces for lounging and a deck for the not so sun friendly folks.Great walk around the island and a nature preserve trail just up the street on the west side of the island.
  • Lovely little place and great places to walk nearby around the island.

    Lindsey2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Welcoming, clean and plenty of bath towels!! Morning view of the water is truly remarkable. Great little hidden gem for recharging the soul.

    Jenny2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable cottage and great location on a very private island. Close to Portland & Freeport. Excellent cottage if you want to stay in and cozy up by the fire or even explore all that the island has to offer (Littlejohn Preserve, fresh lobster and/or the beach!) The house is so charming and really felt like home the moment we walked in. We were 4 adults and 2 young children under the age of 3, it never felt overcrowded. Loved the fresh baked goods that were left upon arrival. Would love to go back!

    Tara2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic, cozy and perfect for a small family. Love that it was dog friendly, our pup had a blast. Yarmouth and Littlejohn Island are really special and this place situates you perfectly to explore the area, head into Portland or simply lounge at the beach. You should know that the host recommends not drinking the tap water although it is apparently safe, and provided several jugs of bottled water at no cost.

    Ethan2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was the perfect end of summer getaway for our family of 4. There was plenty of room for myself and my husband, our 9 year old, and 2 year old. The beds were unbelievably comfortable, and the views out the windows could not have been more beautiful. This is not a 5 star luxury accommodation, but if you need a sparkling clean and comfortable place to relax with your family, this is absolutely it. 3 bedrooms so everyone has space, a large living room with comfortable furniture, a big TV and super fast wifi made it easy to relax and watch a movie at night. As noted in the listing, the bathroom is very small, but we made it work and it didn't take anything away from the experience. There is a full sized washer and dryer in the house, so you don't have to take sandy seawater clothes back home with you...a real perk when traveling with kids! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, and the wraparound deck had lots of seating options for morning coffee, card games during the little ones nap, and watching the kids run around the huge yard. The nature preserve on the island was a beautiful way to spend a morning. (Of note, if you are traveling with little ones, the nature preserve is not very stroller friendly, but that certainly doesn't have anything to do with the house.) The location was perfect for a day trip to freeport and old orchard beach, and one to portland. It was very hard to say goodbye to the area to head back home, but we look forward to returning!

  • This cottage easily slept my husband, me, our 2.5 yr old, 8mo old, my husband's mom and dad and our aupair. It was perfect! We loved the view and enjoyed the outdoors! We over induldged in blueberries straight off the bushes and ate most meals on the picnic table overlooking the water. Brad was very responsive to my messages which was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again :)

    Lisa2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Brad was a great, hands off, but fully available, host. We had no issues and when we had questions they were answered immediately! The house’s location is just amazing- perfect Maine coastal village feel yet so close to Portland and lots of other spots to explore. The house is rustic and minimal but has everything you need :) Definitely recommend!

    Katie2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brad’s cottage was the perfect place for a trip with my family. It was cozy, clean, and was stocked with everything we needed to cook great meals to enjoy on the deck overlooking the water. Centrally located to everything, was a quick ride to Portland or the beach. Definitely recommend a stay!

  • A great cottage off of the beaten path! We enjoyed the locals and exploring the area! We will definitely book again in the future.

  • George and Debbie were perfect hosts! The Lil’ House was perfect in every way! The view of the ocean was amazing. You could see it from the living area and from lying in bed. You can wake up to the sun rising on the ocean! It was very clean and we felt like we were home it was that comfortable. You could hear the ocean if you were out on the deck. We never give anything five stars on everything but we had to on this one, it was that perfect!

    Fred2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • George and Debbie were great to deal with. Loved the area, the sunrise and sunset. The place had everything and more! Wish we could have stayed longer.

  • The Lil' Guest House on Bailey Island was a wonderful spot for a couple's getaway and birthday celebration. The house is so well thought out and equipped.....it's obvious a lot of thought and care went into it. Very relaxing and peaceful, beautiful views, private beach nearby, nice furnishings, so many special touches, great kitchen and bathroom, huge deck, fire pit out back, comfortable bed. We can't wait to go back!!

  • George and Debbie are the warmest hosts you could ask for. The cabin overlooking the ocean was spotless and creatively d'accord. Fresh Lobster delivered to your door, warm friendly visits with owners and family, and reading books down along the shore. A Dreamland vacation. Book it before it goes. Highly recommend!

This is a newly renovated apartment on the 2nd floor of my building and is above an existing Airbnb unit that has been a great hit for the past 2 years and holds a 4.5 star rating w/ over 300+ reviews! It's in walking distance to everything Portland has to offer! It's an older building and has a lot character!
As old as the building is, the 2nd floor sags to the left when you first walk in and levels out to the center of the room and the 3rd floor bedrooms are level. We recycle in the entryway hallway, so you will see the bins when you walk in. Parking is as follows, there is parking for 1 vehicle, but we always tell our guests to check the street first, as it’s free parking and typically not an issue finding a spot in the neighborhood.
It's a safe neighborhood, with the Maine's largest hospital 200 yards up the street and the city's largest park 200 yards down the street.
  • My three friends and I stayed at Nick’s Place for a weekend girls trip to explore Portland! We had a great experience during our stay. This apartment was located in a great spot. It was within walking distance from many great restaurants and coffee shops on Congress Street, it is even right around the corner from the Holy Donut (the highlight of our experience). It is within walking from Commercial Street as well, but a little further. We walked some days but also took a quick cheap uber some days/nights! Overall a great location to stay if you are looking to be right in the heart of Portland! Nick was a great host! The apartment was clean and nicely furnished. The check in/check out process was super easy! We would definitely consider staying with Nick again for a future trip!

    Paolo2020-03-14T00:00:00Z

  • Comfortable, sparkling clean, quiet, and private.

  • Sandy and Jerry were incredibly responsive, and their home was lovely! Even though I didn't have the opportunity to meet them, they left little notes with advice about the area around the suite - so nice. Their place was exactly as listed - private suite even with my own entrance to the home. Check in and check out was a breeze, and Freeport is a lovely, lovely town. I would certainly stay with Sandy and Jerry again, and I would recommend their place to anyone I knew.

  • Very clean, private, and comfortable lodging. Close to everything including Brunswick and Portland. Thank you, Sandy and Jerry, for a wonderful stay.

    Lynn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at Sandy and Jerry’s. This was my first time using air bnb and it was a great experience. I am used to staying at hotels and this was better! They provided so many nice touches, like coffee creamer and breakfast bars, that made it extra convenient. I was on a solo get away so I really appreciate how their setup allows 100% privacy. I did not hear them once! The location is great - a very quite and seemingly safe neighborhood with people out walking and enjoying their day. Sandy and Jerry offered to let me check-in early to avoid driving in a snow storm and also shoveled out my entrance walkway and put salt to melt the ice. Very thoughtful and kind. Very comfortable bed and awesome pillows. 10/10 and will be staying again!

  • Location, hospitality, stylishness all exceeded my expectations but what really got me were Natalie & Jahn themselves. Stay here because you'll be amongst shy and thoughtful artists who fill the spacious cottage with the muted melodies of guitar and dreamy singing behind closed doors. Being around them (as fleeting as their appearance is out of respect for you) will make your heart happy and enrich your stay in one of the most beautiful areas of southern Maine.

  • Natalie and Jahn were amazing people and hosts. The place is extremely peaceful and spacious. Super cool, creative people. Jahn generously drove us into town...thank you! Can't go wrong on booking with them!

  • Natalie, Jahn, and Dunkin were amazing hosts. We had never stayed in an air bnb where the hosts also lived, but this was a pleasant surprise. They were down to earth, fun, accommodating hosts. We spent our last night hanging out with them singing, playing the guitar, and talking on the deck. We will definitely stay again and also stay in touch with these amazing, talented people!

  • We really enjoyed our overnight stay. Natalie was friendly and helpful. The house was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Our room’s bed was quite comfortable and we slept great. Lots of cute decorative touches throughout the house. Thanks so much. Would definitely stay again!

  • if you can, make sure to book this lovely space. it’s a really sweet and spacious place with so much sun and charm. i was able to travel everywhere without a car. it’s a quick uber/lyft to portland or just take the bus that stops three minutes from their place. they have a schedule. it’s super easy, cheap and brings you into the center of portland. my bed was so cozy and the shower was great. coffee and bagels and cereal in the morning, they even managed hot coffee when a storm knocked out power to the entire town. so thoughtful and warm, i felt at home and slept like a baby every night. if you can, book this for a maine stay and say hi to dunkin for me. :)

Welcome to our dog-centric organic habitat! You have the comfy first floor of our split level home, with your own entrance and little fenced yard, and we live upstairs. Take full advantage of our “stay and train” program (Jenny is a CCPDT certified professional dog trainer) or just enjoy Bliss Woods Farm’s organic gardens, local trails, tidal beaches, and Freeport/Yarmouth restaurants and shopping! Twenty minutes to Portland or Brunswick, with many dog welcoming excursions nearby!
Our organic gardens are nested in multiple layers of fenced in rooms that allow you to safely manage your dog and condition positive emotional response to training. If you only need one room, you get a room with a private bath that opens into a small private dog training and exercise area. Your room is equipped with giant crates and gates that you can use if you need them. Beyond your very dog friendly room and yard are mown fields, and dog-centric organic gardens, sometimes with a view of lovely belted gallway cattle. In winter, bring skis and learn to skijor around the fields. An addition bedroom abuts your room and is available (additional fee may apply) if you need a second bedroom. Our facility of fields, fenced training yards and trainer lounge/barn is surrounded by 3 miles of preserved woodland trails. We are 1.7 miles to Winslow Park (a dog friendly waterfront park, where the tidal waters are warm and very swimmable, to us anyway) and 3 miles in the opposite direction to LLBean's flagship store and factory store. We are only 1 mile to S Freeport Village, the marina and maybe the best fried clams in the world!
We are an organic subsistance farm, growing approximately 50% of the food we eat, and we are happy to share. You are welcome to pick berries or flowers or herbs, enjoy the gardens and leave your dog here while you enjoy swimming at a Winslow Park. Bliss Woods Trails here are dog friendly, but not TOO friendly! Bring bug off clothing for venturing into the woods, where mosquitos can swarm! Bliss Woods surrounds our farm, it’s a preserved forestry area with approximately 3 miles of dog friendly trails. We are about 1 mile to the S. Freeport marina, the YMCA, restaurants, 3 miles to downtown Freeport and LLBean. We're barely a 20 minute drive to Portland’s East End Beach (dogs welcome off leash before 8 am and after 5 pm) and the trail to the downtown Portland waterfront. We're on a fairly busy road but our property is entirely fenced in. You can just open the door and let your dog(s) outside with no worries.
  • Perfect place for you and your dog. We are repeat clients. Jenny and Al are great hosts. Despite the focus on dog visitors, the space is spotless. Very convenient to both Freeport and Portland.

    Kevin2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful experience!!! My husband and I were so happy with our stay, and our dog Luca was equally happy. We chose to stay because of Jenny’s expertise with dogs and dog training. She was great with Luca!! Her facility is excellent and we recommend anyone who wants training for their pup, please go see her! Our room was in a great location, just couple miles from great restaurants and shops in Freeport. Our room was clean, and the location was beautiful. We highly recommend.

    Nicole2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Clean accommodations. You probably will not find a better place to bring your dog! Jenny is most accommodating and helpful. We highly recommend.

    Doug2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny and Albert are wonderful hosts. I really enjoyed the gardens and the opportunity to let my dog roam the property and to train with Jenny. Jenny was a wonderful guide to local places and it really enriched our trip. I have to mention that the beds were so comfortable and the rooms and amenities were cozy and we felt totally at home.

    Kendra2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique and incredible place. I didn’t have my dogs with me, but wish I did. For my purposes the location was ideal and the unit perfect. It had lots of room and a basic kitchen area with microwave and refrig. Being dog-centric, it is a very practical place... not luxe. The farm and dog training areas were beautiful, with trails running off into acres. I was carless, but Uber was available. Jen was an incredible and helpful hostess. Loved her enthusiasm.

    Susan2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny kept in great communication and was very accommodating! Great value and an awesome location.

    Rachael2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Repeat client. There is no better place to stay with your dog. Recent addition of porch was a great idea. Massive fenced area is great to let dogs wander off-leash.

    Kevin2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a fun stay with unique accommodations. We brought our 17 year old beagle and Jenny was so understanding and sweet with our situation. We could not have asked for a better place for our needs traveling as a family with a dog. Very convenient to Freeport (important - El Jefe and Frostys Donuts) and Portland. Everything was perfect! We joke that after seeing our pup on the farm, perhaps she wants to retire to Maine!! Thank you again to Jenny!

License#STHR0011152019 Spacious 1 bedroom w/living room, eat-in kitchen and bath in ideal Portland peninsula location, walk to all. situated on the edge of the west end and downtown. 2 blocks from the ocean. Walk everywhere in this central, historic, perfect location. Easy street parking. Simple furnishings, older retro flair. 2nd floor of 3 unit Victorian on dead end, quiet street. Queen bed and futon sleeps up to four. There is no parking but often spaces are available on this dead end street
Please read carefully: This is a well-loved apartment in an 1875 building full of sunlight, with Hardwood floors and tall ceilings, you'll be in a classic Portland "triple decker" Victorian building surrounded by the stunning architecture of portland's historic west end. You can walk anywhere in town within minutes. Basic kitchen and bathroom essentials provided. One queen memory foam bed and one fouton can sleep up to four. Large living space-this is an older apartment with older kitchen and bath-it is simple-not luxurious or modern-but it is clean and in the best location. Please appreciate the value of my space-that it is affordable, clean and large, with a retro flare and in a very desirable neighborhood, walking distance to everything on the peninsula. however, be advised, there is no tv and towels do not match and I have never been to ikea. This is the 2nd floor of a 3 unit and the second floor walk-up has steep steps, consider this if you have mobility issues. One Window a/c unit in bedroom, radiator heat (steam heat=white noise which apparently bothers some) I live below and tenants live on the third floor-you will hear occasional sounds throughout the building from residents and even though it is a quiet street you may still hear people on the street (it is an apartment in a city-after all). There is no parking for air bnb-even though there is a driveway-the spaces belong to tenants...guests parking in the driveway for a few minutes to unload luggage is fine..guests have usually been able to park easily right on my street at no cost. Street parking is free on most streets in the neighborhood-Just read the signs as there are usually 2 nights a month overnight parking is not allowed on certain streets for cleaning. Guests arriving late in the evening may have trouble finding street parking. There is also a $5 daily parking lot on commercial street next to Irving gas station about a 3 minute walk. This is a quiet building and no partying is allowed. The apartment is located on a dead end street off park street on the right called Stetson ct-it is a block away from the landmark historic Victorian mansion on park street and danforth. Additionally, early check-in or late check-out can most likely be accommodated with a $20 fee. That said anyone staying beyond the 11 am check out for whatever circumstances will receive a $20 payment request.. Thanks
Portland's west end is such an amazing neighborhood, wandering through these tree lined streets filled with incredible architecture is one of my favorite pastimes. Smile at everyone out for a stroll and enjoy the beauty and character surrounding you. Rosemont market, oh no cafe, and speckled axe coffee are all staples of the west end. Commercial street is two blocks away and uptown or downtown are both 10 minute walks.
  • My sister and I stayed with Sharon last minute and it was the perfect place for us! Her space is simple and has a lot of historical charm. The space was clean and cozy; my wife and I enjoyed relaxing there each evening on a cozy couch and very comfortable bed. Katrina was also very responsive and her instructions on accessing the room were very clear. We’ve stayed in several Airbnb’s in Portland and this is definitely our favorite!

  • My boyfriend Sean and I stayed in this Airbnb for 11 nights while he was up from Georgia to visit. Out of all the Airbnbs we've stayed in, this one was definitely the best value for our money. It was well decorated, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the washer/dryer was a huge plus. There was plenty of paper towels, shampoo, dish soap, blankets, towels, and even condiments. Something that we were concerned about though was the electronic doorknobs' ability to lock. We were able to open all three doors to the suite after we thought they had been locked. However, I've always known Yarmouth to be a safe area so I wasn't super worried. Overall, we would stay here again. It's a nice location with many ideal spots close by and we were super grateful to have help shovelling out my car. Thank you!

Portland’s most desirable location just a few minutes’ walk from the ocean overlooking Casco Bay; the Old Port; Bayside & downtown! The feel of a suburb in the midst of a small city. *You also have the option to book private sessions in a Far Infrared (IR) Sauna Room during your stay, with extra towels and terry robes provided ($20 per 2-hour session payable via the Airbnb site under Additional Services; contact me to book a time).
It’s a cool old Colonial home built by Irish immigrants in the 1880’s, modest and simple but a solid structure - in a super location. These comfy & charming accommodations are within easy walking distance to the Old Port yet offer more quietude than any other central location in the entire city. Under 3 minutes' walk to spectacular views and sunrises over of the ocean & Casco Bay along the Eastern Promenade - in addition to panoramic views and sunsets even closer in the other direction to the west overlooking the entire peninsula and Back Cove - Bayside area from Fort Sumner Park. The bedroom includes a comfortable, queen-size bed; WiFi; Bluetooth speaker; small laptop table (sometimes found in closet) and an optional larger folding desk available by request; a room-size fridge & Keurig coffee maker, along with a selection of tea. *You also have the option to book private sessions in an adjacent 2-person Far Infrared (IR) Sauna Room during your stay, with extra towels and terry robes provided ($20 per 2-hour session payable via the Airbnb site under Additional Services; contact me to schedule a time). Munjoy Hill is the most desirable neighborhood in the city offering ample open green space and recreational opportunities (tennis, basketball, baseball fields) & nature areas – all along the ocean – in addition to easy walking access to the heart of the city. For the spectacular views, convenience and the quiet of a residential neighborhood with 1800's character and charm, nothing tops the Hill!
Sunsets one block up the street; sunrise one block down, it’s a photographers paradise of great scapes and lighting. Proximity to so much including the Eastern Promenade & East End Beach; Old Port; Waterfront; Washington Avenue’s restaurant, beer and mead scene; several Bayside microbreweries, and a whole lot more peninsula-bound points of interest. What’s most special is at the same time the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and its elevated Hilltop-situated area sets it apart from the urban areas of the city while opening up to expansive views of the ocean and islands of Casco Bay.

  • We really liked the location, water view and apartment itself. It’s very clean, with nice furniture and a real feel that it’s a home, not a standard place to sleep. There is plenty of light coming in. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern. A great place to stay in beautiful Maine!

  • This apartment has the best view. of Casco Bay on East End Promenade. One block off the Promenade. It is so relaxing. Super comfortable super clean. Perfect location. Easy 1 mile walk to Old Port, tons of shops & restaurants. 2 small markets are about 2-3 blocks away. We loved it. We also appreciated the 4 bottles of water and coffee creamer in the fridge and the coffee in the cabinet. Loved having more than 1 set of towels per person too. 3 complete sets per bedroom. Monica gets back to you quickly. Comes with 1 private parking spot plus free on street parking. Very comfortable mattress. 2 pillows pp on bed. Which I appreciated. Fully equipped kitchen including paper towels, dish wash soap & detergent, wine opener, etc. Bathroom had air freshener, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer. Overall we really loved the place and will be back !

  • This is the nicest hostel that I've ever stayed in and will probably ever stay in! Heather just rehabbed this space, there is a picture book in the lobby showing the full process, and she did a wonderful job. The decorations are unique, warm and inviting. The common area is clean and well organized. Plenty of full bathrooms to each dormitory. Staff working there are very friendly and helpful. I was worried about the bedrooms being warm in the cold New England winter, but there are individual heating and cooling units in each room that kept the room sufficiently toasty! Not to mention the LOCATION! easy walking to the entire peninsula, but all the best stuff is within several blocks. Would recommend anyone stay here.

    Elizabeth2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This has to be the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at! Highly recommend you check it out

  • The loft is excellent, with a full kitchen. Parking is a big plus. The loft is located in the center of Portland, within walking distance to attractions. Host Tom quickly and clearly answers questions in correspondence. I recommend the loft unconditionally for a stop in Portland!

  • Tom’s place is beautiful and walking distance to all of Portland’s best spots. We loved using the Keurig in the morning and communication with Tom was quick and easy. Would definitely recommend this studio to anyone visiting Portland!

  • Great spot! Great location and very clean! Can’t beat the price. Parking across the street was clutch. Will stay again!

    Joseph2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's space was excellent. The apartment is cute and well furnished. It was a lovely spot for a romantic weekend getaway for me and my partner. If you're a light sleeper, the only downside is that the street it's on had a lot of vehicle noise, but this wasn't a big deal for us. The location was otherwise perfect. It was brilliant to be less than 10 minutes' walk from some of Portland's best restaurants in the old port. We didn't meet Tom, but he was very prompt in responding to my queries throughout the weekend.

This lovely contemporary one-story home is a relaxing, unfussy place to call home for a few days (or longer). It is located within walking distance of the famous Cribstone Bridge, Orr’s Island Candy Store and two popular restaurants on Bailey Island.
This Island home features an open concept kitchen, living and dining area with distant water views, two decks and the sense that you are part of the Island community.
This accommodation is ideal for anyone drawn to contemporary interiors and water views. There is a seafood restaurant one mile away!
  • Stephen’s cottage was a fantastic place to get away for a few days. The space is large for two people, thoughtfully decorated, and has all of the amenities we could have needed for our stay. It was also very clean when we arrived. The pictures really don’t do it justice, it’s a beautiful home. Check-in was simple, and that was quite nice after a long day of traveling. Though we didn’t get the chance to meet Stephen, we was responsive and helpful whenever we reached out. Our first morning there, we woke up early and were pleasantly surprised to be able to see the sunrise over the ocean from the kitchen window. It is a fairly long drive to get in and out of Orr’s island, but we found we were always looking forward to going back to the cottage if we’d left the area for the day. It seemed like Orr’s/Bailey island had plenty to do if you don’t want to leave the area. We’ll definitely be back in the future and highly recommend Stephen’s cottage to anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Zoe2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Steve’s place in Orrs island is a delight! We had a lovely couple of days making the cottage our base as we explored Maine’s beautiful natural bounties. Steve was extremely gracious and flexible with our check in / checkout process. The cottage itself is beautifully situated with windows bringing in plenty of sunshine and giving pretty views. The presence of art and thoughtful details in the decor is very heartwarming. Interacting with Steve himself was the best part of the stay though! Don’t pass up the opportunity of experiencing this slice of heaven!

    Parag2019-10-15T00:00:00Z

  • This a spacious well decorated cottage. I love that it is handicap accessible complete with ramp. Beautiful view from decks. We will be coming back again

    Edna2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. For a couple this is a spacious place. I was actually surprised by the room. In the distance you can see a cove out the kitchen window and one out the front window. Not gonna say it is a spectacular view but hey it was nice to know your close to the water. Stephen is a great host with lots of info on local stuff. Easy to cook here. Being about to do your laundry is great if your on longer stay. This was our first trip to Maine we loved it. This place is in the slower paced area and we were happy about that. Check out the candy shop up the street. The ice cream is amazing and big servings. Overall very satisfied.

    Brett2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place if you are looking to detach from work and just the business of life. Lovely little coastal town, and Stephen is a great host. Honestly wish we had more time to chat and get to know each other better, but great at responding and answering questions immediately. Will gladly book this place again for a second time.

    Kenny2019-10-03T00:00:00Z

    Daniel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at Monica's place. The location is excellent - easy walk to the Old Port, not far from the East End and all it has to offer, and right next door to a lovely coffee shop. The apartment was spotless, and had a well appointed, functional kitchen which allowed us to bake homemade cookies. Shower was hot and had good water pressure. Bedroom was a bit on the small side, but very cute, and we typically spend most of our time in the living area anyways. Easy check in, with a convenient parking spot right in front of the building. We would not hesitate to return!

Parking space provided just two blocks away. Portland Maine Short Term Rental Registration# STHR 000040 2018
The urban retreat is a beautiful, self-contained, first floor, private studio and bath. The room is visually pleasing, with high ceilings, crown molding, bay windows, hardwood floors, a king sized bed, sitting area, table and chairs for eating or working, bureau for clothes storage, and all linens provided. There is no full kitchen in the room, but a mini-fridge, toaster oven, electric water kettle, coffee pot and carafe, dishes and utensils are available. Stocked with fresh roasted coffee, cream and sugar. A parking space is available for the apartment. It isn't on site, but a four minute walk away.
This West End location is a walker's paradise, with excellent restaurants, coffee shops and gourmet grocery stores all within blocks and parks, museums, galleries, theaters, the Arts District, and the Old Port are all just a short jaunt away (10-15 minutes or less).
  • Really enjoyed the space, it was much better than I expected at the price it was at. Would absolutely stay again.

  • Compact, stylish, great location, very comfy and spacious bed.

  • Michelle's place is clean, comfy and located in the heart of Portland. We were able to walk around downtown Portland. And Michelle responded quickly when I had a question. Thank you, Michelle.

    Lisa2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is ADORABLE. I stayed for one night with my sister and would definitely stay here again. Michelle is super helpful and easy to communicate with, the location has a dedicated parking spot, and it’s within walking (or cheap ubering) distance to pretty much anywhere you could want to go. So glad I found this place!

    Jessica2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for my one-night stay in Portland. It’s a short ride from the airport and within walking distance to both downtown and the Greyhound station. It’s a small, cozy spot for one or two people. The WiFi is strong, too.

    Jerad2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location, super convenient. Easy walk to bustling city center, great restaurants, but quiet and safe - ‘urban retreat’ is excellent description.

    Jennifer2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome space and location! It's tiny but cute, and it's a great starting point to see the city! There's a single room and a small bathroom, but there's a cute sitting area in the room and tons of space to put your luggage.

    Alyxandra2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb’s I’ve stayed at! I work from home and the Internet was very fast, neighborhood and building very quiet, and tons of natural light in the studio that made it a wonderful place to work. The bed was also super comfortable and the pour over coffee was delicious! Would definitely return!

Our home is near parks, nightlife, hospitals and the city center but located in a quiet neighborhood. You can walk to everything. It's very small, but quiet and has a separate entrance. If you want to socialize with us you can, but you also have privacy too. The house was built in 1894, so the room/ bathroom are older, has a clawfoot tub and is small. Many guests ask about off-street parking. We have it available for 5$ per night in a nearby lot.
Full size bed. Very comfortable double bed. The room is small!! Electric heaters are available for your use to supplement the heat. Did I say the room was small? Its small but really comfortable. The bathroom is older and has a clawfoot tub, so you must be able to lift your legs over a 24" lip. Water pressure is very good.
The West End is primarily residential, with apartments and single family homes. It is very safe. There are nearby convenience stores, markets and laundry mats. The hospitals are both a ten minute walk away.
  • The room was wonderful. I felt such peace being there. There was a private entrance and a private bath just next to the bedroom. There were extra toiletries provided both in the bathroom and the closet in the bedroom. I had packed hurriedly and forgotten a lot of things. There was also a Walgreen's very nearby, so I picked up additional items. A Lyft ride to more lively areas was only a few dollars.

    Kimberly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Dennis’s house was great! Was quiet small but still way enough room for me and my wife to stay comfortably. Everything worked great, was clean, and checkin/check out was very simple. Amazing location within walking distance to center of downtown Portland. Was a great cheaper stay for the night!

  • Tom’s place made for a perfect two nights in Portland. The location is amazing and having a parking spot is really helpful. The apartment was clean and the loft bed was a great use of space. Tom was very responsive and accommodating. I would recommend this place! Can’t wait to return to Portland again soon.

  • Great central location! Very clean and Tom was incredibly responsive.

    Eric2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Light-filled and wonderfully located, Tom's loft was a great home base for Portland adventures. Tom was a great communicator, and facilitated an easy start/end to our stay. And that parking is included is such a bonus! Would definitely stay here again in the future.

  • Very convenient location. Clean space.

    Mark2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the urban chic of this stylish studio. The location- a 5 minute walk from the art museum and Yes books- was just what we were looking for on our short visit to the city. Everything was spotless, and the bed was really comfortable. Tom was very welcoming and responded immediately to our questions. Thank you, Tom!

Well lit, large room with an extra futon (second bed) in a cozy old-fashioned Maine duplex with your own private entry. The queen size bed, plush with 800 (or more) thread count sheets, a down comforter and cozy pillows will prove to be comfortable. The room has a private bath with a tile shower, refrigerator, microwave and coffee/tea. We provide towels, hi-speed wifi and small speakers for music. We are an easy walk to everything, and we offer our driveway for parking.
(Please read my entire listing as it will answer most, if not, all questions you may have. It will also help you decide if what I have to offer will meet your expectations and needs so you can have an amazing stay here in Portland) Hi, I'm Christine. I'm here to help you have an enjoyable stay at my home. But, also, I have made my Airbnb as self-sufficient as possible in case I'm off doing unpredictable life & mom things. I don't want my busy schedule to hinder any of your plans. As much as I would love to meet all of my guests, I may not be able to. (Do know, I will always be reachable by phone or text and would love to help in any way I can) My place is right in Portland and you can literally walk to most, (if not all) desired locations. It is a two story duplex that I have converted into a home for my family with a designated Airbnb area. To ensure privacy, my family stays in an area that is totally separate and secure from the Airbnb space. I have a dog (Harriet) and she will bark. Even though she is friendly, you will not have direct contact with her. My house is not modern. In fact, it is well over 100 years old. Calling it a "fixer-upper" is a bit harsh, but it does need some special love and attention. As much as I am very serious about making these upgrades happen, it has been a slow process. Take comfort in knowing that I have prioritized the Airbnb space and its the best room in the house! I am proud to have made it into a unique/comfortable/clean and cozy little Spot for my guests. (I intend to use my Airbnb revenue as a means to make such improvements to the rest of my home) I love my neighborhood. Back Bay Grill, Bayside Bowl, Bubba's, (voted best dance club) Isa and American Bayside Grill are primo hot spots within a block of my house. We are a short walk to The Museum of Art, Nickelodeon, the Old Port, (waterfront) Trader Joe's, Whole Foods Market, Deering Oaks Park and some of the nations most highly regarded microbrew pubs. On the downside, there is a resource center a few blocks from my house. You may encounter homeless people who may/may not be under the influence of drugs/alcohol. The area can easily be avoided by foot and/or by car. I provide a map that clearly shows where the resource center is and how to best avoid it. (if you choose) Please take comfort in knowing, I have lived in my neighborhood for 15 years and I feel safe in my home, and I would never have an Airbnb if this were not the case. Also, we are less than 2 minutes off the 295 highway, so traveling north or south of the city will be as easy as it gets with minimal city driving. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MY PLACE: Q: When can I check in or check out? A: I will try to accommodate your desired check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need time to have the room cleaned for you. Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please? And, where do I leave the key when I leave. A: Yes, yes and leave the key in the room.
Parris street is a little two-way street right in the heart of downtown Portland, in the most diverse area of the state. Online maps measure distances in feet to the most celebrated and award winning restaurants and night spots. We are located just blocks from Portlands highly touted art district with the Portland Museum of Art within ten minutes on foot. My family has lived in the neighborhood for over a decade. We feel safe in our home and have never had an incident where someone even tried to break in.
  • Christine's place was so clean and comfortable! Perfect location to explore, close to so many great restaurants and shops. I'd definitely recommend and stay again in the future!

Sunny, small, 2nd-floor private room, w/separate entrance, shared bath (although mostly yours), conveniently located in Portland's East End, close to restaurants, microbreweries, distilleries, Portland Trails, and the beach. Healthy walking distance to Old Port and downtown. Usually a lazy bones, my dog becomes Cujo when people arrive. Your pooch is welcome here, provided it is gentle with my grumpy senior cat. If either resident species or the steep stairs put you off, consider another place?
    * YOUR ROOM: A small southern facing room on the second floor of an old, modest, and incredibly charming ~1870 New Englander home, cozy with a comfy full bed, small desk, dresser, and single coffee machine. Low ceilings! (6'6" see pictures) TV, wifi, basic cable and AppleTV access. I provide clean crisp sheets, a duvet, quilt or blanket, and towels. For the five days in summer where Maine goes through its heatwave, AC unit for the room. The only room in the house with an AC unit! * POTENTIAL FOR NOISE (not usually an issue): While I have had no complaints so far, be aware that the room faces the street. With my immediate uphill neighbors who run a business, there is a potential for noise on weekday mornings. Do do not expect a quiet bucolic lazy morning, unless it's the weekend. I provide a noise-canceling machine, noise and light-blocking curtains, and earplugs. If you are an extremely light sleeper, this room is probably best not for you. * SHARED BATH: while guests are here, I use the shared bathroom for showers only and get ready exclusively downstairs in my half bath. So the shared bath feels more like yours. * PRIVACY: With your hall door closed (see pics), your own steep staircase to your side of the 2nd floor, and your own entrance, you can enjoy quite a bit of privacy. * BARKEY GREETING: My dog WILL bark. I don't care if you are the dog whisperer, he will bark. If you have any hesitation about walking up to a house with Cujo greeting you, this place is really not for you. His bark, by design, is loud. * NOT APPROPRIATE FOR: infants, toddlers, or seniors. Prove me wrong if you're a senior, by all means! Just warning...
Just down and around the corner from here: kombucha, A&C Grocery, a bakery, a couple of breakfast joints, Maine Craft Distillery, an oyster bar, restaurants on Washington Avenue, and still in walking distance more microbreweries and art studios in East Bayside. For runners, trail walkers, and vista seekers, I'm around the corner from Jack Path (easy to find on a map), part of the Portland Trails system that leads to Eastern Promenade, Back Cove, and the beach, and also a stone's throw from Fort Sumner Park with its iconic views of Portland. From here, it's also a short walk to the top of Munjoy Hill and its several restaurants, a pleasant 15-minute walk to the Old Port and a 20-25 minute walk to the Arts District and MeCA, the Maine College of Art.
