  • What a magical and lovely place. We were able to truly relax and unwind from the business of everyday life. The hosts were so pleasant and had some wonderful tips. The property is comfortable, clean and a fire at night was the perfect way to relax with a book and cup of tea. Thank you!

  • We are just driving home after a very relaxing couple of nights at Rose Cottage. The cottage is exactly as described, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the cottage had a great selection of games, books, local info etc. We loved the flapjacks, and also the samples of local coffee and shampoo bar. It was a perfect base for us to explore the surrounding areas. Highly recommended.

  • Had an absolutely great long weekend in the glen, the cottage served as a great base to explore the surrounding area. Peter & Sai were the perfect hosts and would recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a weekend of exploring or simply somewhere to relax. Will be staying again!

    Scott2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Peter & Sai really have thought of everything to make the cottage a home away from home. By far the most equipped kitchen of any airbnb's we had previously used and the board games and useful local information guides came in very handy. Truly lovely hosts who were very approachable and happy to help. The bed was also incredibly comfy and we found the area to be a good base to explore the nearby points of interest. Would definitely stay again should we visit the area in the future.

    Rebecca2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Peter & Sai are wonderful hosts, their property is the perfect retreat from which to explore this region and enjoy the abundant wildlife. The property is beautifully furnished and immaculately clean, Peter was on hand to show us the property and answer any questions we had, in addition he was able to give us some excellent tips for things to do and see in the local area. The location is ideal for exploring the Cowal Peninsula as well as the Isle of Bute. We will definitely be returning.

Clamshell Lodge lies on the shore overlooking Loch Fyne. Located on the Ballimore Estate, at Otter Ferry, a surrounding of farming in the fields and forestry on the hills. A local pub (The Oystercatcher) less than a mile away. A beautiful view with fresh air - ideal getaway.
  • What a find! This place is so special. Right by the sea with amazing views, we were so relaxed watching the waves while cosy by the fire. It is a bit of a drive to the nearest shop if you forget the rice like we did 🤣! But the isolation is absolutely perfect! Highly recommend for beach wandering, oystercatcher watching and relaxing.

  • Lovely cottage. Very spacious. Beautiful location

    Vicki2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A remote, peaceful and atmospheric location, perfect for those wishing to 'get away from it all'. Be prepared to drive a few miles for near by places of interest, but enjoy the views as you go. The accommodation has everything you need, and on cold winter days the view combined with the wood burner is perfect to huddle up to.

    Jon2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Tristan’s house over Christmas. The space was tidy and comfortable. The surroundings are beautiful and perfect for enjoying nature and exploring the lochs. Tristan was very helpful when checking in and helping with any queries. We loved the extra touches that Tristan made like putting up a christmas tree!

    Michelle2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We love Clamshell Lodge! It is in a perfect location and it is beautiful inside and out! Really well equipped too. The views of the loch are amazing - it was lovely to swim in the loch then rush back indoors to get warmed up by the log stove! The oystercatcher pub was lovely and welcoming too - it was lovely to wander along the shore to get there. A perfect spot to just get away from it all for a few days, to slow down and find peace and tranquility. Totally recommended!

  • The lodge has a wonderful view over the loch. We saw seals, red deer, rabbits and many many birds. The lodge has everything one needs for a holiday. It is better than the pictures. Comfortable beds and linens. A full kitchen. Tristan was easy to contact and a pleasant host. We enjoyed a few evening meals at The Inver restaurant, great food. And a pint at the Oyster Catcher. The walks at Puck’s Glen were enchanting and magical. So I can only say we had a wonderful time. Thank you

  • Myself and my 3 children (aged 11,10 and 8) and dog have just returned from an absolutely fabulous week staying at the Old Barn. There was a tiny blip with the accommodation prior to our arrival but John contacted me very promptly and a solution was found resulting in an even better holiday than anticipated. We spent most of our days using the facilities at Ormidale (swimming pool, tennis court, football pitch, trampoline, table tennis and pool table) which were so good the children didn’t want to go further afield. The on-site estate managers ( Norman and Pam) were absolutely lovely and so welcoming and helpful with any issues that we had (very few and very minor ) and had loads of recommendations for things to do. We were all very sad to leave and would love to return in future.

  • Had a last minute short break at Ormidale Cottage. Loved the facilities at this beautiful Estate. My son loved the swimming pool. The cottage is well equipped and cosy. Reminded me of a traditional Scottish “ButnBen” brought up to modern standards. Lovely linen, good kitchen facilities if you want to self cater or short drive to plenty good quality eateries on Argyll’s Secret coast. Would recommend for a weekend gettaway. Thanks John.

  • We loved staying here. Wonderfully toasty despite horrendous weather, it made a cosy space to coorie in for the weekend and warm up after braving some damp walks! Easy parking and check in, the cottage is spotless. Extras like coffee, the famed flapjacks, books and games were very welcome. Kitchen really is well equipped - you could cook up a storm if you didn’t want to venture out (although some of the local restaurants are really fab).

  • Peter & Sia’s place is exactly as described and pictured, with lots of little homely touches to make your stay just right. My boyfriend & I stayed two nights only as an escape from the city, but would recommend staying for three to make the most of the surrounding area - especially if you intend on heading down to the Isle of Bute. It’s a truly remote and idyllic location, so be sure to come with your food and drink for however long you stay as you’re a fair distance from any markets. However, lots of lovely seafood restaurants and BnBs offering good food nearby. I loved how silent the place was, you could disappear into the ancient glen in your mind.

  • A lovely stay, clean and comfortable accomodation. Peter and Sai were great hosts, super friendly, provided useful tips in the surrounding area. It is a perfect location for touring the secret Argyll coast! We stayed in the upper flat, beautiful view of the mountains, made it extremely relaxing. A lot of lovely wildlife, birds and squirrels.... The kitchen is well equipped, we cooked our breakfast and made dinner too. You wouldn’t believe that you were just under 2 hours drive from Glasgow. Felt miles away in our own peaceful sanctuary. Thanks for a great relaxing trip, we hope to be back soon. Ps, your flapjacks were delicious , a lovely welcoming touch.

  • Great for a stopover

    Robert2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy has basic facilities - kettle, tea bags and uht milk, but there is a fridge for other bits and bobs you bring with you. I had to really think about breakfast somewhere nearby, unless you’re a fan of cereal and milk or a cold breakfast of your own making. Otherwise head for a short drive to Botanica at the Barn for food at this time of year. I was kept nice and warm in November and the shower was good - always important for me. The bothy is in the most beautiful setting and right next to the Oystercatcher bar and restaurant where the food is fantastic in the evenings at this time of year. Overall for anyone travelling around Scotland, November-February - always good to check what’s open and what isn’t.

  • A very cosy and modern little cabin which is located in a beautiful scenery. We felt right at home and enjoyed spending the night here and were impressed with the cleanliness and attention to detail. Fully recommended! P.S.: Tristan even posted a scarf that we had left behind, couldn't have asked for a better host :)

  • This is a really nicely designed place, with lots of thought put into what matters. In particular, the bed was incredibly comfortable with really high quality linen. I slept about ten hours! It's a wonderful building, right on the water, and right next to the Oystercatcher. Otter Ferry is a beautiful beautiful spot, and I hope to be back soon.

North Lodge has a stunning location with fantastic views and a wonderful garden with a trout stream running through it! Truly idyllic!
  • It’s an exceptionally well-appointed cottage, ably accommodating a family of four that embodies the owners’ passion and knowledge for the area. It’s the location in particular which sets this property apart: a stunning part of the country with much to return to see and do.

  • I cannot recommend this cottage enough. On its own the cottage is gorgeous and cosy; but as we were there over the Christmas break, Anna made sure there were decorations up and it was perfect! It's in a great location to feel like you're remote but a close enough drive to petrol, food shop, pubs etc. Anna was very attentive by email, and the whole booking process was seamless. We loved every minute of this holiday, and would happily stay at this cottage again.

  • North lodge is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. The cottage lacks nothing and is maintained to a very high standard. The Cowal peninsular is a great place too with beaches and villages to visit within reach, great pubs and restaurants and superb seafood and local ale. Very nice stay with family and dog. Thank You.
