Relaxation was so easily done here! The amenities were spot on and they even go above and beyond and supply shampoo and conditioner! Hey that’s a win in my book.

Unless you are a first responder or health care worker, a moratorium on short-term rentals was imposed by local government to try to contain the virus outbreak, so this cottage is currently unavailable. If you are an essential worker and need a temporary rental, please send me an email through the website and I'll accommodate if possible.
This slice of coast is simply spectacular. The cottage is the kind of place I'd want to stay when traveling--out-of-the-way, but not too far from restaurants and shops. The kind of place you say, 'damn, lucky I found that.' A little funky and artistic - like there's a 12-foot-high sculpture of a gray whale to greet you. Laid back atmosphere. The rental sits on bluff about 150 feet above water, just back of the main house. The property's two miles from the nearest town, Trinidad. The studio set up includes a microwave, toaster oven, hotplate, half-size refrigerator. There's coffee equipment; coffee and tea. Dishes and cookware. In other words--making a six-course meal is doable, but a stretch. But when I bake, which is often, guests share fresh bread, cookies, or whatever is out of the oven. A toasty propane-fueled brick fireplace is there for heating. TV. Cell-based Internet (slow-ish). Solar-supplied electricity (grid-tied). I've discovered that some guests cope better with nature than others. Please be aware that this is not a sterile environment. There are deer, rabbits, dragonflies, flies, butterflies, birds, even the occasional bear. So be aware. Also be aware that there are wildfire-related power outages in this state (there's a generator on site). Also be aware that the property is in a tsunami zone. The land is 2.5 acres in a narrow band from the county road to the Pacific Ocean via a long gravel driveway. The property’s main house is inhabited by me, the landowner. Click on the online guidebook for stuff to do while you're here.
Pacific Ocean at your doorstep (well, close, and getting closer with sea level rise). Wildlife. Not exactly untamed, but not tame either. Secluded, although host is on property, she gives you your privacy. Shopping, restaurants, harbor, all 2 miles away. Lots of beaches within 5 miles either direction.
  • This place is INCREDIBLE. What a cute little place with such a tremendous view. I never wanted to leave! I hope I get another chance to stay here one day.

    Amber2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was absolutely amazing, we had a brief ant problem but when our host was made aware of it, she promptly helped. The accommodations were amazing and the view wonderful. It was a perfect quaint cottage for two. We would absolutely stay again and very much enjoyed our time there.

    Adam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Obviously a hand-built space, full of love and details. Great low-key hospitality, a friendly pooch and a setting to beat the band. Who could ask for more? I will return when I'm able - a great place!

    Kent2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great views. Cozy place. Nice hostess. Highly recommend!

    Rob2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, comfortable cottage with an amazing view! I had read previous comments so expected the hot plate burners for cooking and small bathroom with tiny sink. We managed quite well by keeping things simple. The internet connection at the cottage was inconsistent and we found absolute joy in the disconnecting for a few days. Thanks for a fabulous weekend J.A.!!! We would do it again!

    Kelly2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute studio guest house, beautiful view. made an amazing romantic get away for the weekend.

    Katelyn2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This space was the perfect jumping off point for our redwoods adventures. The location was perfect and the cottage was cozy and had everything we needed. Also, the freshly baked cookies were a real treat! We’d definitely stay here again.

  • I enjoyed staying here! After a long drive getting there, it was nice to have a bar to walk to right next door. They also thought of the small things, like leaving coffee, filling ice cube trays, providing dog bowls, leaving a pack of matches, a container of cookies and more. Lots of thoughtful touches here!

    Paige2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little place with everything you need. Great location with fun amenities and the beach nearby, though by car. We walked to the beach but the road was fairly busy with no real shoulder. Noise from the bar wasn't too bad and made for a nice ambiance on the back patio.

    Cheryl2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly as described and best of all very clean. There is a kitchen with everything and a cozy bed. The only downfall was we could hear the music a tiny bit from the bar next door for about an hour or so, but then we went and joined in on the fun and by the time we were home it was quiet. I would imagine if you want absolute silence this place isn’t for you but other than that it’s great!

    Amanda2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! We only stayed for one quick night on our road trip, but it would be an awesome spot for a weekend getaway.

    Amanda2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and quiet even with next door bar. Pet friendly a plus! Deck was a sweet spot with all the trees. Very relaxing n cozy. Super well equipped kitchen n big fridge. Nice place

    Marcela2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great place to stay and helped save us some cash by being able to cook in the unit! Very comfortable, you might consider bringing earplugs because its very close to the clam tavern but any noise didn't bother us!

    Roanna2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! We loved it and can not wait to return.

    Megan2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for me! I went on a solo trip, and spend most of my time hiking. The space was exactly what I was looking for, and had the CUTEST back patio to kick back and relax. I know in other reviews, people mentioned the noise/music from the tavern. It was a little loud, but I put on some “sleep/meditation” music on, and it worked like a charm. I had no problems sleeping. The host also included coupons for local places which was a great touch 😊

Ocean, beaches, and sweeping coastal vistas make Luffenholtz Surfside Cabin a spectacular Redwood getaway. Keep a sharp lookout for migrating Humpback and Grey Whales, seals, and river otters from your cabin’s decks and two-person soaking tub.
Rest and recharge at this charming seaside cabin located two miles south of Trinidad. The one room floor plan was designed by its’ sailor owner, and has a cozy, nautical vibe. The Queen-sized Murphy bed is comfortable and can be easily stowed to create more floor space. A sofa sleeper offers additional sleeping space for two friends sharing a getaway, or a small family with a child 8 or older. There is a fully fenced yard for one well behaved dog. As sunset approaches enjoy a glass of wine from Tepona Point, directly across the street from your private driveway. The kitchen/galley is small but fully equipped for preparing delicious meals. Together with a propane bbq for easy grilling, you may dine inside, or al fresco on the deck to the sounds and sights of the sea! You can relax and explore for days and never get in your car. Take a picnic lunch to the tide pools and creek on Luffenholtz Beach, across the street from your cabin. Surf some of the best waves Northern California has to offer at Houda Point/Camel Rock, a 0.4 mile stroll down the road. Or, dare to bare at the popular (clothing optional) Baker Beach, a one-half mile walk north. One mile south Moonstone Beach, at the mouth of the Little River, is a favorite of locals (and is legendary for its hospitality to dogs!). It is known for its endless well of sea shells and sea caves. If you can tear yourself away from your cabin, a two mile ride north brings you to the charming town of Trinidad (population 304!). This seaside village provides you with all necessities, including gas, groceries, art galleries, and fine dining establishments offering local seafood, produce, and meats. It also provides one of the most pristine and spectacular viewing sites for our coastlines and migrating whales. Spend the early morning exploring the Trinidad Pier, and watch the local fleet unload their catch of Dungeness Crab and King Salmon. Hike the spectacular trail around Trinidad Head, or one of several trails taking you north to College Cove and Elk Head. Charter a fishing boat or rent sea kayaks or stand-up paddleboards. Centrally located, Luffenholtz Seaside Cabin is your gateway to all things that have made Humboldt County Legendary. The nearby historic towns of Ferndale, Arcata, and Old Town Eureka feature music, art galleries, concerts, and fine restaurants. Experience the grandeur of Redwood National Park (30 minutes north), and nearby lagoons and rivers. You won’t have to go far to fill your vacation with memories to last a lifetime. GETTING AROUND: Close proximity to ACV airport and conveniently located ¾ miles off Highway 101. However, it should be noted that Scenic Drive is a coastal road that is prone to changing conditions. In several sections the road becomes single lane, with sections of dirt or gravel. Driving slowly and with caution makes this short distance easy to navigate. All sections of the road are easily walked or biked. Please note - this home is located on a rural, coastal road that is subject to erosion, pot holes and uneven pavement. It may be narrow and have one way traffic at certain locations.
Stay with Trinidad Retreat's Local Hosts Founded in 1997, Trinidad Retreats is run by a wife and husband, Jonna and Reid Kitchen. We’re friendly Humboldt County locals who love hosting guests on California’s Redwood Coast. No matter what day of the week, we’re here for you. From fully stocked kitchens to tips on where to find the best surf, we value Humboldt hospitality. When you stay in one of our vacation rentals in Trinidad, Arcata, and McKinleyville, we’ll help you experience the North Coast’s rugged coastline, cool culture, and magical Redwood forests.

  • This was a fantastic place to stay. The pictures don’t do it justice, the views are even better in person. We never wanted to leave

  • Such a wonderful place to spend your time on the Northern coast. The pictures do not do that view justice! Highly recommend.

    Joseph2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous place. I would definitely stay again.

    Katerina2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I am so glad we chose to stay here! It was perfect enough for the view alone but the house itself was even better than we expected. The house was very cozy and had all that we needed for the couple of days we stayed here, the kitchen was great. The soaking tub was plenty big enough for two people to enjoy and was by far our favorite part - we made sure we were back to the house in time to enjoy a nice hot sunset bath and watch the ocean both nights we were here. The house has a heater which was perfect for the chilly nights. The market and restaurants in Trinidad was a short drive and so convenient and it was a perfect distance away from the redwood national park for us to go do some great sightseeing. I will definitely be staying here again the next time I find myself in this area!!

    Nicole2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beautiful and exactly as portrayed in the listing. Joanne and Reid were extremely accommodating.

    Mike2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Stunning views and a great deck. Needs some deep cleaning, but otherwise it was a good choice. The restroom and couch were dirty, but generally in okay condition. The heater didn't seem to work properly, it would not fully heat up the house. The fireplace would not light, we gave up after 15 minutes of trying to make it work. Otherwise, it's a great place and the views and soaking tub are worth it alone!

Our Permie Eco-Cabin is a shed and adjacent greenhouse remodeled into a unique off-grid getaway. Elements include rainwater catchment, solar lighting, solar-thermal shower, no-water toilet and propane stove. All tucked behind our on-grid house on a 1/3-acre, which are developing into self-reliant permaculture homestead. The Eco-Cabin also has backup electricity and running water. Our neighborhood is five minutes from the Pacific Ocean and Hammond Trail, and quiet enough to hear the waves crash!
  • This is a private clean rustic place to stay.

    Kerry2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved my stay at the eco cabin. For all my sustainable, mindful, eco friendly, creative innovators this place is a must. So much thought and energy into making an eco cabin. Steve is very intriguing and passionate about his craftsmanship. Loved learning about it all. Thank you for the warm and fulfilled hospitality. Had everything I needed for the colder of nights (Heater, hot water, etc). Will be back in the summer. Friendly, welcoming and a joy wraps it up.

    Kaylan2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem. Besides being environmentally friendly it’s a great deal for you wallet. The hosts are so great at responding/giving directions/friendly and being hospitable. The location is also a big plus since it’s minutes away from Patrick’s Point and Trinidad. Looking forward to staying there in the future!

    Juliana2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really cool. It’s very homey and comfortable, we loved staying here and you will too. For the price and location, it can’t be beat!

    Jacob2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a brand new and cool space. It looks better than the pictures and is very comfortable. It’s an outbuilding and a green house turned into a guesthouse. Steve and Casey Jo are focused on sustainability and living in balance with this world and therefore the guest house reflects their lifestyle. There is a composting toilet and a nice hot but “as needed” hot shower. The bathroom facilities are in the unheated greenhouse portion which is enclosed by sheets of plastic. It’s very neat and tidy. There is plush bathroom rug to step on as you come out of the hot shower and even if the air is cold, your body and feet are warm. From there it’s a couple steps into the cabin through big shed-type double doors where the small space heater keeps the place nice and warm. The cabin is cozy, new, clean, comfortable, well designed/built, has two big futon beds, looks better than the pictures, and has two entrances/exits for safety. The hosts are awesome and, even though there were a few little glitches that arise because the space is new, they were super helpful and fixed things immediately. They also gave me rides to a local physical therapist, shopping and small errands. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience.

  • This home was absolutely wonderful. Rose and Dick were so helpful and welcoming. Would definitely stay there again and again!

    Ashley2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I found this to be a perfect place to stay! Rose gave us excellent directions and made sure we found her place. Everything was clean and the area is beautiful!

    Connie2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Rose and Dick’s home is very cosy and comfortable, beautifully situated in a forest. The space available to us was huge. Rose left us little treats and a personal welcoming card which was such a beautiful touch. The water pressure in the shower was great. The best unexpected treat was the night sky. The stars were out in all their beauty and because of the lack of light pollution in that general area, the sky was amazing. This is a wonderful place to stay. Magical.

    Cliff2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Rose and Dick were so nice to me and my husband - they gave us cakes and cider bottles as we were on our honeymoon, and even made a lovely card for us. We felt so touched. About the space, it’s in a separate building from theirs. You have to climb up some stairs, then everything from the bed to the TV to the kitchen to the bathroom is on the same level. As Christmas just passed, there were really cute ornaments everywhere. The bed was really comfortable and you can’t really want for anything. There’s a nice deck outside too, but it was raining the night we stayed there so we couldn’t really enjoy it. Overall, it was a nice secluded stay, really peaceful.

    Louisa2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • It’s unfortunate that we arrived after dark and not able to appreciate the views and a walk down to the beach. Rose and Dick are very thoughtful hosts.

    Narcissa2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Rose and Dick are wonderful hosts, so kind and thoughtful. Their place is up a beautiful fern lined driveway just across the street from the ocean. Beautiful serene setting and a wonderful deck to hang out.

  • This cottage is clean, cozy, and right in the midst of everything...beaches,redwoods,elk,hikes!

    Heather2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place was extremely clean, well stocked and comfortable. We enjoyed the area, view and hearing the seals on the beach below. We even had some peacocks come visit our yard!

    Bre2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had one of the best romantic getaways ever at the Alder Cottage. Not only did we arrive to a property that was impecably clean, the host had the heater on and some welcome music playing for us. We had a small hiccup with the hot tub and Vacasa was incredible with their response time in resolving the issue. Real top notch service. They made us feel like VIP's instead of a nuisance as some hosts can do. One of the highlights of the house is the well equipped kitchen. This is one of the rare airbnb properties that has a good, sharp set of knives. All the dishes, cookware and cutlery were of excellent quality. Do take the time to walk down to the bluff and enjoy the breathtaking views. All in all, the property felt very private despite sharing a driveway and yard with the neighboring cottage. My husband and I agreed that this is one of our favorite airbnb stays of all time, and we've been to quite a few. Highest regards to the Vacasa team and can't wait to return!

    Lanette2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I spent several days at the cottage and were amazed with the location and amenities. The views from the bluff are gorgeous and the hot tub was a great addition to a chilly vacation. We enjoyed waking up to the sounds of barking sea lions and going to sleep to the sound of the ocean. You don’t have to leave the cottage for great views - you can watch the peacocks on the lawn while you have breakfast! If you must leave the cottage, Fern Canyon, Prairie Creek Redwoods, several beaches, and the Humboldt State Marine Lab (for little or big guests) were a short drive away!

    Nat2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The space was just right for what my husband and I were looking for on our getaway. The proximity to the ocean was such a special highlight, it was clean, cozy, and in such a great location! Would definitely book again in the future!

The "Blue Room" is your quiet, cozy country getaway just 2 miles from town, across the street from the Mad River and 5 miles from the beach. Cruising up the long drive-way, you'll be welcomed by our mustang, donkeys & goat. We welcome guests of all backgrounds and love making new friends. Having lived on the North Coast for nearly 40 years we're a great resource to make your stay memorable.
Guests love the "just right" comfortable full sized futon with Tempurpedic topper and large, luxurious bathroom with soaking tub large enough for two and separate shower. You can unwind as you soak with Epsom salts by candlelight and even diffuse essential oils for a spa-like experience (included). Mini-fridge, microwave, air popcorn popper, coffee, tea and treats are also included. If you happen to be traveling with horses, ask us about short-term boarding. We're also open to hosting well-mannered dogs (please let us know in advance if you are bringing dogs with you).
Our property is 6.3 acres in a park-like setting. We have gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. We tend to get sun on our property when other areas in town are fogged in. In the summer we can walk you down to our little sandy beach and swimming hole on the Mad River. It's just 2 min. to the town of McKinleyville with groceries, gas, restaurants and The Mill Creek Cinema in case you care to take in a movie. The college town of Arcata is just 5 miles with some great dining, live music and quaint town plaza shopping. There is a delightful Farmer's Market there on Saturdays. The town of Blue Lake is also within 5 miles with bowling, a casino and a tap room a hatchery and river access.
  • A super cozy stay on a beautiful property! The location is secluded and peaceful but getting around by car is still quick and easy. Would love to stay here again next time I am in the area!

  • Tracy was a great host, and very kind. I stayed there with my two year old, and he loved the farm animals. Tracy gave us carrots every day to feed to the donkeys.

  • Such a beautiful property and room! The bath alone was worth the stay but the peaceful location and thoughtful touches made it truly magical ❤️

    Miranda2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely spot to stay! Out of the way and quiet, a perfect place for a weekend retreat. The animals were lovely and fun to meet, and the soaking tub was absolutely glorious! Very close to Arcata and Eureka, as well as both entrances to the Redwood forests for hiking and beaches.

    Myranda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a spectacular getaway- the special touches Tracy leaves in the room make you feel oh so special. My boyfriend and I spent our Valentine’s Day weekend here to celebrate the holiday and our 2 year anniversary. We brought our two dogs and it was still enough space for the four of us to be comfortable. We will definitely be making a trip back this summer!

    Sierra2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice, cozy little getaway. The animals on site were very entertaining. We also really enjoyed the big bath tub, and the quiet, peaceful location!

A cozy space with modern touches nestled in the lower part of Arcata, just a couple block walk to the neighborhood grocery store and Mosgos coffee shop. Just a mile from downtown Arcata, where fun awaits, day or night. If you need anything while staying here don’t hesitate to ask.
The house is spacious, well kept, clean, and fully furnished for your comfort. The back yard is beautiful and perfect for games, bbq, or a relaxing evening spent around the fire pit. If you would like access to the outdoor games or bbq while you stay, just let me know.
While you stay here you can expect to stay in a safe, quiet neighborhood with well developed trees, wide stress, and friendly neighbors. It’s only a couple minutes walk to the neighborhood grocery store or Mosgos coffee, which is always lively with college students and occasional evening entertainment.

Wake up to the sunrise and 180 degree view of beautiful Arcata Bay from this 1 bed, 1 bath cottage! Adjacent to the Manila Community Park with disc golf, tennis and a children's play area. Walking distance to the Lighthouse Mini-Golf, and the beach! Ideal for a couple and small child (or two). Also suitable for two couples. Open deck with expansive backyard for relaxing. 10-15 minutes walk to Manila Dunes beach. All amenities you need for a get-away, remote work or a visit to HSU.
(* Due to the nature of current events... we would like to remind and reassure our current and prospective guests that we always take cleaning and disinfecting seriously in between reservations. Wishing everyone peace and prosperity during these uncertain times.) This space provides a stunningly unique view of Arcata Bay that you won't get anywhere else. In addition, it is tucked away in the quiet corner of a small coastal neighborhood know as "Manila" nicely removed from highway noise and nearby neighbors. It is in a great central location 10 minutes to Humboldt State University, 7 to downtown Arcata, and 5 minutes to Eureka. The cottage is approximately 600 square feet.
Humboldt County is a rural area known historically for lumber and agriculture, and is surrounded by breathtaking wilderness. Humboldt retains its country lifestyle while displaying a forward thinking and welcoming attitude. Manila is a small seaside town on the Samoa Peninsula, which is home to fisherman, surfers, hippies, and artists. The population in Manila is 1000 people, income ranging from low to medium, as is reflected in the neighborhood. The occasional abandoned vehicle and wandering houseless pedestrians are not an uncommon sight within Manila or the greater Humboldt county.
  • This place is phenomenal. The view is amazing, the interior design is so relaxing and wonderful to stay in, and the kitchen met every need we had.

    Rudolph2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The location right on the bay is fantastic and French doors and windows make the most of the view. The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped. The bed was super comfy, too. Just a very peaceful, relaxing spot. We enjoyed exploring nearby Arcata (dinner at the Pub and then a trip to Wildberries Market to pick up a few things). All in all, a fabulous place to break our trip down from Portland to LA.

    Judy2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The location on the bay is just gorgeous. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The towels were soft and fluffy and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again when we come back through Arcata.

  • I had a lovely stay . Was so tired after 14 hr drive. Room was warm and inviting, clean and ready. House is eclectic and natuaral just like the redwoods themselves. I got the dates wrong and she was a very gracious host about the whole thing..thank you Sonja for sharing your home and kindness

    L'Cena2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Sonja’s home has been one of my favorite Airbnb experiences. Her home is welcoming, beautiful and a retreat with all the little nooks in nature. In the garden. There was a mixup with the bookings and she even gave me her personal bed. This is hospitality! No doubt I will be coming back here.

    Vic2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I love staying in the room in that big country house. Granted, I like things off the beaten path and Sonja’s house was like that: large, old, sprawling, with many interesting elements including a piano. Large country kitchen. Absolutely beautiful view into the backyard from the bedroom and a lovely backyard. The house was on a cold side when I got there, but the room had an electric passive heater and so did the bathroom. Room is not large, but comfy for a single person. I felt very comfortable and welcome and hope to stop by again on my travels. Thank you Sonja for accommodating me at absolutely last moment!

    Stella2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We just needed a place to stop on our way to the redwoods and this place was perfect for us. We were able to find the space easily late at night and the room we stayed in was super cute. She even had the heat on for us, which was nice. And it was nice to wake up with a view of the cozy backyard in the woods through the siding glass doors.

    Sarah2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sonja’s place is so charming! I felt so accommodated in my last minute booking and although my stay was all of 12 hours it was really delightful and just what I needed before driving back home. I highly recommend her place if you want a cozy little spot in the redwoods. I would definitely stay here again!

    Calle2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sonja is incredibly nice and a wonderful host (and so were the adorable cats!). The bed was soooo comfortable and she had plenty of yummy snacks. She also gave me great local tips on things to see while in the area. Would very much stay again if I come back to the area!

We are located at the end road in quiet neighborhood. There few nice dining locations close by and walk to beaches or close drive to Saturday market and hiking
  • We had a lovely stay at Claire’s place. The home was small but perfectly styled and clean! It was not as remote as we had anticipated, but the neighborhood was quiet and very close to the beach. The temperature was a little hard to get right but otherwise everything was great!

  • It’s a great location to explore Trinidad and the surrounding areas. The space is very clean and the decor is simply beautiful. I was traveling with my best friend and my dog. We felt very safe and comfortable at Clair’s place. I can’t wait to return with my husband. I highly recommend it.

    Nadim2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is so clean and modern with a few vintage touches. It smells super clean when you walk in and it's super bright. Trinidad was the perfect location in between Eureka and the national redwood forest, which made our trip so special.

    Kellin2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect spot for a quiet, peaceful, and restful getaway with close access to local beaches, redwoods, and coastal towns. The space was clean and fresh. A quiet and peaceful location. It’s also a great space to just hole up in to rest or write or enjoy some time to yourself. Clair is a wonderful host, responds quickly to any questions, and provides easy to follow directions on how to get there. All the windows and skylights let in beautiful natural light throughout the day and allow you to stare at the stars from bed at night. The shower is nice and hot, a full kitchen, comfy bed, and a space heater keeps the place plenty warm in the winter. I loved my time here and would gladly book another stay!

    Katelyn2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful, private place to stay with a view, lots of natural lighting, and skylights above the bed to see the stars! The vintage-style kitchen and farm table were really nice touches.

Due to COVID 19 we are only allowed to rent to essential workers at this time. April - May 15th. If the travel ban has not been lifted for future dates we will issue a full refund. Big discount for extended stay! We hope you love our 1968 Globetrotter as much as we do. It is on our property which is walking distance to beautiful rolling dunes and miles of beaches. We are located in between Arcata and Eureka. If you are looking for something unique with modern comforts this is the perfect spot!
Our Globetrotter has all the modern comforts while maintaining its historic charm. We have added a queen size bed and twin plus a private bathroom and shower. There is a range for cooking and we have added all the tools you might need to prepare a fabulous meal plus the basics like organic Himalayan salt, ground pepper and olive oil. We have WIFI, toiletries, cotton sheets and cozy down comforter. You just need to show up! We do allow pets for a $25 additional fee. We love animals and think our spot is perfect for your furry friends because of the beach access. We have found however that it really adds to the cleaning and wear and tear. The dunes are about a minute walk from our spot and less than 10 minutes through the beautiful sand dunes to the beach. We do not allow smoking inside our space but you can smoke outside.
We live in the colorful town of Manila located between Arcata (5 minute drive) and Eureka (5 minute drive). Our neighbors next door are super friendly and it is about 1 minute walking distance to the dunes and another 8 minutes to the beach. We live on a peninsula and there are some beautiful places to explore out here. If you love riding bikes we would be happy to explain some amazing rides to Arcata or to the South. The dunes also make for amazing sunset hikes and the surf breaks along the coast offer excellent waves throughout the year.

Within 10 minutes or less from the studio you can access Trinidad State Beach, Patrick’s Point State Park, and many other lesser known parks and beaches. Also because of its upscale, coastal vibe, Trinidad has several eclectic dining experiences like Moonstone Grill and Larrupin Cafe. But you don't have to spend much for delicious meals if you dine at local favorites like The Lighthouse Grill and Beachcomber Cafe. All of these restaurants are 5-10 minutes by car. And of course, the tallest trees in the world live in Redwood National and State Parks, a scenic 20 minute drive from our property. The college town of Arcata and the port city of Eureka, 15 and 25 minutes away, provide most major retail opportunities and additional excellent dining options for your convenience during your stay.
  • Lauren and Steve offer a very accommodating and comfortant stay in their beautiful studio. It feels very secluded and has a wonderful forest view out front. Try to use the fire pit if you can! They offer everything you could need, the place was very clean, and they are very quick to respond to questions and concerns. We hope to stay again!

  • Steve and Lauren provided a great space for my weekend trip! I loved they stylish studio and french press coffee. Steve and Lauren also provided excellent recommendations for near by hikes and restaurants. Excellent airbnb!

  • My wife and I stayed here for two nights and it was perfect. We were looking for a place that was near Redwoods National Park and that felt secluded in nature. This place was exactly what we were hoping for! The check-in instructions made the place was easy to find. The studio had all the amenities we needed and was very clean.

    Michael2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is clean, very cute, and in a great location. It’s right in the redwoods and near to all the best trails. It comfortable, had coffee and tea available for lazy mornings and early mornings before exploring, and was right next to delicious restaurants in Trinidad. And the beach! It was a joy to stay here. It was so charming!

    Jordan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z

Our clean cozy studio apartment is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quite neighborhood in McKinleyville, just a few minutes drive from the Arcata Plaza/ HSU/ Beaches/ Redwood forest/ ACV airport/ Old Town Eureka. Walking distance to Six Rivers Brewery. It is also about a 45 minute drive from the Redwood National and State parks. Our apartment has got a fully equipped kitchen with updated appliances and all the necessary essentials.
The private apartment can be light, bright and airy or dark, warm and relaxing. You can set the tone you want with a flick of a curtain or the dimming of a light or two. Set the mood with the electric fireplace and bluetoothed sound bar.
The neighborhood is just a quick drive off of the main street of McKinleyville. While the location is near the main street, the neighborhood is secluded, safe and quite. Most of the neighbors live in their homes year round and are either retired or currently working professionals.
  • I loved Donovan’s place! It was perfectly located close to Arcata and the redwoods (the most beautiful and humbling hike of my life at Prairie creek!) The apartment had everything I needed, well equipped kitchen and really comfy bed and linen. Would love to return here in the future.

    Claire2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a very nice stay. Almost exactly as pictured. There is a fridge/freezer and hot plate available as well. Quality amenities, linens, etc.

    David Ryan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, comfortable and convenient! This was a perfect home base for a quick weekend trip. Donovan was easy to reach for local recommendations. Would definitely stay again!

    Kristina2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I am a clean nut. There, said it out loud. Donovan’s space was spotless. My comfort went way beyond my expectation. Thank you for everything. All the extra touches let me know how much pride you take in making your guests happy. I look forward to returning. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!

    Donna2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Super grateful to Donovan for being such an amazing host. The place was lovely, super clean and offered all the amenities you could think of. I will definitely keep this place in mind next time I’m in the area!

    Leslie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Donavan's place was an amazing place to stay. We were only there for one night, but we had a great experience. The check-in process was easy with good instructions and directions to the location that included parking. The apartment was modern and neatly decorated with many amenities such as snacks, mini-frige, and I especially enjoyed the smart TV that had Netflix and Hulu. The bed was very comfortable and we had many warm blankets when it got cold at night as we stayed in early February. This place was lovely and I would recommend it to anyone!

    Carmen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Because of car issues we were unable to stay at Donovans place. I am sure that we will stay at his place sometime in the future.

    Stan2020-02-15T00:00:00Z

This cozy bungalow is situated on 6 acres of redwood forest within walking distance to the coastal village of Trinidad and close to amazing hiking trails and the beach. Immerse yourself in the glories of the redwood forest around an evening fire under the stars. The bungalow is private, freshly remodeled, clean and comfortable. Beautiful afternoon light, shaded in the morning for sleeping in.
Quaint and cozy, you'll love this redwood cottage. After your day of adventuring in the redwoods, relax around the fire ring under the stars. The space has a queen bed, a sleeper sofa, a bathroom with shower and a kitchenette. Internet access and a television with Netflix are on-site, but as this is a rural and secluded area, speeds may be limited. The 6 wooded acres is shared with two other Air BnB dwellings; the Bungalow maintains its beautiful natural ambiance, serenity and privacy.
  • Great space! Perfect size for a home base in the redwoods! Right in the middle so you can explore up and down the coast very easily, also Trinidad is so cute

    Robin2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Their place was lovely, carefully thought out, and in a beautiful, quiet location. We’d definitely stay here again. Wish we could have stayed longer.

    Daniela2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow is everything you hope it to be, tucked in the Redwoods with easy access to trails, quaint restaurants and the beach. Wonderful stay and wonderful hosts!

    Michelle2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute and quaint little place. Great out of town feel while being minutes from a grocery store and restaurants. Waking up to the redwoods outside of the window was magical. We will definitely stay here again if we come back!

    Jordan2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This little Bungalow was perfect for my friend and I on our little “mom-cation.” It was easy to find and more spacious than expected. They provided user friendly instructions and everything thing we needed. Very clean, comfy, and safe. I highly recommend staying here and checking out the little beautiful town of Trinidad. While staying here, we spent a day hiking around Fern Canyon which is a must! Can’t wait to stay in our Bungalow retreat again!!

    Josey2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Charming space, great features, perfect location. We absolutely loved it.

    Jordan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Talk about great location! Our dogs loved being in the woods and we loved being 5 minutes away from Trinidad and the beach. It was impossible not to have a smile on your face when you wake up with a view out to the redwoods. I even messed up and didnt book an extra night that we needed, and the hosts graciously worked with me to get another night booked in the bungalow after I made a late night call to them.

    Nicolas2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I loved staying in this tiny bungalow! The home was cozy and nestled in the most beautiful setting. Trinidad has much to offer ... we discovered something new every day! From the beaches to the redwoods and the sunsets, to the art cooperative and the winery. Great location and wonderful home!

This is an old Victorian styled house that is being restored.. This guest suite that we have to offer is a little slice of heaven. The guest suite is set up like a motel room with a queen size bed, coffee, an electric kettle, min fridge and microwave. A large tv equipped with Netflix, a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. All Wrapped up in a master bedroom with a grand entryway.
It is near by the airport and within 7 minutes from Arcata, where there is shopping and a quirky town and within 10 minutes from beautiful Trinidad where some of the most beautiful beaches stand amongst the rugged coastline and towering trees.
  • Brian is rennovating this beautiful house and it was a pleasure to stay there. The location is perfect, if you want to visit the Redwood Forest. In case I come back to the area I'd definitely try to stay there again.

Our restored, historic cottage is at the center of our vibrant community. Just two blocks from the Plaza and in close walking distance (5 minutes or less) to the best farmers' market, two natural grocery stores, several cafes, restaurants, a creperie, an excellent independent movie theater, an art store, record and book stores, and within a 10-15 minute walk to Redwood Park and the Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary. This bright, cozy cottage is truly in the heart of downtown Arcata. Come stay!
This one-bedroom cottage has a full, well-equipped kitchen with a Tassimo coffee machine, as well as a French press, and a drip coffee option. We have a sofa bed that folds out and sleeps one adult, or two small children. Please note that this is a sofa bed, which typically are not as comfortable as a regular bed, unfortunately (this is our second sofa bed in a year, on a search to find a more comfortable one!), and due to the size of our cottage, the only sofa bed that fits is a small one, which is smaller than a full size bed. (If you have two small children, please just list them as the third adult, and we won't charge you - we've been there!) Please note, there is no TV. Thank you so much for your interest in our space!
Our cottage is situated off the alley behind our house. It is separated from our property by a gate, and it has its own parking spot. We love our alley neighbors! It is a pretty quiet spot, aside from the occasional group chatting as they stroll home from the bar sometimes on weekends, and the garbage truck once a week in the early mornings.
  • This place is sparkling clean, stylish, convenient for Humboldt towns and the national/state parks. The bed was the coziest bed I've ever slept in. Maria was super quick to respond to questions, there is free wifi, and toiletries were provided. I would definitely stay again.

  • Beautiful cottage in the city of Arcata. I stayed overnight for an out of town work trip and found this to be exactly what I needed. The cottage is located close to several different restaurants and quiet at night allowing for a peaceful sleep before an early morning. It was fresh, clean, and stocked with things I needed for my stay. There were clean towels, dishes, and pots and pans for my use if needed. Fast WiFi made my stay convenient. And check in was straightforward and simple. I highly recommend Maria’s place.

Cat's Meow Studio B is like a rustic, cabin near the woods. It's located behind Studio A/garage building and is a private stay with a bathroom, a combo living room/bedroom, and a full kitchen. It is a perfect overnight stay for visiting the Redwoods, or for an extended stay when you need more time to be here on the North Coast.
Cat's Meow Studio B is perfect for one or two people. It has a futon/couch which makes in to a full-size/queen bed. It is a little stark and is a decorating work in progress. The bathroom has no sink, but the kitchen sink is only a few steps away. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, 4 burner gas stove, micro-wave, coffee pot and a small table which will double as the desk. There is a dedicated WiFi router and laundry is available for extended stays. Parking is about 20ft. away and there are motion lights on the garage.
Cat's Meow Studio B is located east of Arcata. The western portion of our property is a dedicated wetlands with a creek that defines the western property line. We are minutes from Arcata, but it feels like a cabin in the woods because we have several Redwoods on the property as well as other trees and hedgings. Because of the way the buildings on the property sit, it feels a lot more rural than it is - definitely not a suburb.
  • We stayed at Jerry’s Place while in the middle of a three month long road trip. We had been camping for about a week beforehand. The place could use a deep clean, but overall its a great value for anyone traveling on a budget. It had all the essentials we needed for a place to rest and recalibrate for a night. There’s no TV, but the WiFi works very well and we were able to watch Netflix on our laptop. While the sofa bed wasn’t quite long enough for my boyfriend (granted he’s 6’3”) it was very comfortable, so don’t let that deter you. We had been sick of fast food/eating out from our travels, so we actually made use of the kitchen. It has more than enough supplies to whip up a simple meal. Overall, Jerry’s Place was a positive experience and we would stay again. Thank you!

    Bridget2020-03-16T00:00:00Z

Nestled in a redwood canyon steps from the Arcata Community forest, this is a cosy one bedroom with a full kitchen and bathroom, an outdoor seating and dining area, and parking on the street. Centrally located to Humboldt State University, St. Joseph's Hospital and Mad River Hospital, this is an ideal spot for temporary, month to month rental. Thank you for considering our hospitality!
Well lit with great natural light and a very comfortable queen size bed. Airy and deceptively spacious with East and South-facing windows. Welcoming and enticing interior decor, with good insulation make this a cozy and pleasant living space.
Our suite is in a redwood canyon that ends at a creek at the foot of the Arcata Community Forest. It is a quiet street, home to families, retirees and Humboldt State University students, as well as a range of wildlife - deer, raccoons and the occasional bear going through the garbage! We all cohabit peacefully. It is a magical, beautiful place that appears removed from the bustle of downtown Arcata, yet only a few miles from town.
  • A little nook of refined tranquility hidden in a gorgeous redwood canyon. Quiet, pristine, and beautiful. Recommended for anyone who needs a little peace in such a busy world.

    Alex2020-02-07T00:00:00Z

This studio is above our detached garage, about 30ft. in front of our house. It has a private entrance with stairs up to the loft. Perfect for one or two people. We share this property with some stray cats, a couple of deer friends, and pesky racoons. As we are about 40 yds off the road, there is private parking with motion detecting nightlights and a sidewalk leading to the entrance. The room has a small refrigerator, micro-wave oven, student desk and old, wooden office chair. Two folding chairs and a table are provided for sitting on the balcony. There is a twin bed and a scissor futon couch that makes into a full-sized bed. Towels, soap, shampoo and bedding for the couch-bed are provded. Private parking is 20 ft. from the entrance with motion detecting nightlights for your safety. Guest will have access to the studio and our yard, which borders on a dedicated wetlands. There are no trails. We are providing a clean, quiet and private space for guest to enjoy their time here in Arcata and Humboldt County. We are availabe for directions and recommendations, otherwise, we ask that our privacy be respected. Our neighborhood is quiet and rural, surrounded by trees. We have deer that roam our yard, sometimes on a daily basis. There is a good coffee/ sandwhich shop about 50yds from the house - they do not give "to go" cups, so we provide them. There is a small shopping center 1 mile towards Arcata that has a friendly neighborhood market, laundromat, hardware store and restaurant. This is a bike friendly area, with wide bike lanes. We are 2.5 miles from Humboldt State University - a 5 minute drive or a 10 minute bike ride. We are 3 miles southeast of Arcata and 4 miles northeast of Eureka. We are 1 mile from the nearest public transit. It is at Sunny Brae shopping center. This is the southernmost point for the Mad River transit and connects in Arcata to Redwood Transit that connects Fortuna, Eureka and Trinidad.

  • I would recommend this airstream to anyone who needs a getaway with a camping feel. The hosts have done an amazing job not only keeping the airstream beautiful, but also providing a level of comfort with both their yard and beach access. The beach is only a couple minutes walk away and there were so many times we felt like the only people for miles. Allison suggested we check out fern canyon and it was one of the greatest suggestions we could have received. I cannot recommend this stay enough. We will for sure be making a trip back when we can.

Cozy 1bd/1ba beach cabin. Quiet nights with only the surf crashing and the frogs croaking. Walking distance to the beach and the bay, and only a few miles to the plaza in Arcata, or the heart of Old Town Eureka. Get away from it all and make yourself at home in the eye of the calm. Perfect for couples or someone just needing a break from city life. Come home to the beach, come home to Humboldt.
Manila is a unique community located out on the Samoa Peninsula. Quiet and calm reign here and everyone lives here for that reason.
  • Gorgeous little home!

  • This was a very clean and neat Place to stay with a lot of Little fun touches in the cabin. The location was excellent 10 minutes Arcata Ten minutes to Eureka .Definitely will return!

  • This location was very clean and welcoming. It was well put together and creative. I loved staying here and would 10/10 do it again! When I met the owner Cary he was very polite and respectful! I loved the environment!

  • Amazing place to stay, clean and homey

    Ben2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cary was instantly communicative. The space is a well-appointed 1 brd cabin with a lovely book collection, a nice simple kitchen (everything works) and a clean bathroom. No complaints. Good value for less than 100 a night.

  • Cary’s cozy hideaway provided the perfect spot for my daughter to rest and rejuvenate when she came to town recently. The space is delightful and Cary was helpful and attentive.

  • Cozy, clean. Great host. We had a wonderful weekend.

    Mackenzie2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This house was awesome! It's a perfect little surf cottage away from town but still close enough to everything you'd want to do on your visit to Arcata. We had a great time exploring the beaches and nearby dunes and all the attractions in town, and the house was always a warm and cozy place to return to at night. The layout is wonderful and makes the most of the small area, there are tons of cool books to check out, and the French press was an added bonus. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we'd absolutely stay here again if we return.

Private, two-room suite attached to main house. The bedroom has a kush queen size bed (super comfy). The living room has a couch, TV, and kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, kettle). Coffee and tea supplies provided. A full-size foldout bed can be set up for additional guests in the living room. There will be an additional $20 cleaning fee if you want to bring pets. This is a great place for couples or a small family ready to explore the redwood curtain or have a relaxing getaway.
Unfortunately there is no access to the back yard from your suite, but there is an open lot next door for your pooch to run around. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. The entrance to the suite is the front door of the house but this is private access for you. The host uses an entrance at the other side of the house.
Just a 5-minute walk to the bus station and 15-minute walk to a beer CSA tasting room (can bring your dog!) and a natural foods grocery store. There is also a brewery in town. There’s a great dog park also within walking distance and you’ll be a quick drive to the beach.
  • This was a great place to stay for hiking in the Redwoods . Not too far from the state and national parks, Rebecca had everything ready for us, very clean, comfortable and yummy snacks were a nice touch!

Walk or ride from the Hammond Trail or airport to this separate, spacious part of our home with a private entrance, hot tub, gas fireplace, and master bath. Easy access to the Redwoods, the beach or town - create your own colorful Humboldt experience.
The space includes a large bedroom and then another large room that serves as a couch/hang out/eating room or it can sleep one or two more people. There is a super comfy futon in that room that we will prepare if you tell me there will be three or four people total, BUT YOU NEED TO ASK if you need it and there are only two people on the reservation. Guests in the main room will have to pass through the side of the futon room to get to the bathroom. Both rooms have vaulted ceilings and wood floors, and a door between them for privacy. lt's a 30-40 minute bicycle ride to Trinidad, Arcata or Humboldt State University, or just a 10 minute car drive. Our home makes the perfect portal to begin and end your west coast travels, or to stay for several days as you explore the Redwood Coast. You could spend weeks trying to see all our parks, hike and bike our trails, paddle our rivers and lagoons, sail Humboldt Bay, and anything else you can imagine. Redwood Park, Prairie Creek, Tall Trees, Fern Canyon, Trinidad, etc are all less than an hour away. If you are interested in local art, or anything you see on the walls, some of it is for sale and we can introduce you to the artist and visit their studio.
The neighborhood is nothing fancy, but it's convenient and comfortable The best part is how easy it is to hop on the Hammond and get down to the beach, or get back on Highway 101.
  • Expect more than you could ask for. Hot tub delight and a cozy, comfortable place to relax. I’ll be back.

  • Close proximity to the ocean so that you can hear it. If you are needing an airport, it's only two minutes away. The airport is small enough you are not bothered by the sounds of the airplanes.

Charming duplex nestled in the majestic beauty of the Pacific Northwest.Moonstone Manor welcomes you with modern amenities, soothing, clean, uncluttered decor and a private fenced yard including a grill patio where you can relax and unwind after a long day exploring nearby Redwood National Park or one of the many picturesque beaches located within a 5 minute drive. Humboldt is definitely one of those bucket list places and it's absolutely gorgeous any time of year, so plan a visit soon!
The space is a newly remodeled duplex. I am a carpenter by trade and have personally performed the work with a craftsman's eye for detail. I live in the totally separate adjoining unit. I was fortunate enough and am forever grateful to have been born and raised here and I spend a lot of time outdoors. If you need any help planning your adventures, whether you book with me or not, don't hesitate to reach out. I know all of the best spots for hiking, photography, beach combing and surfing.
  • This is one of the cleanest, nicest air bnb’s I have ever stayed at. The bedding was super nice and the bed itself was super comfortable. Overall super homey environment. Not to mention, they were super quick with responding when I had a few questions. My family ran into the owner outside in passing (he lives next door) and said he was super friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Get communication with the owner, very easy to check in, nice and clean 2 bedroom home. Will stay again for sure if I get that chance.

  • The Red Alder Retreat is a real special, beautiful space! The lighting is amazing, everything was immaculate, and it’s located in a quiet easy access neighborhood, with a big grassy back yard. Deva and Ilene were very accommodating with our special request, too, which I really appreciate.

It is big, bright, and quiet, with plenty of spots with good lighting to facilitate reading in the evening, but the ability for dim mood lighting as well. The bed and bedding is very comfortable, and additional towels, pillows, and blankets available in the room. We had everything we needed.

Quiet, cozy, private cabin. There's a kitchen/dining space with cozy seating, a super comfy loft bed, full bath with on demand hot shower and outdoor deck on a garden. Hear the ocean from your cabin which is on 2 acres that borders a bike trail and is near the woods, trails, a dog park, the river and ocean views. A sweet retreat space with big views, birds, gardens, peace and quiet and easy access to fabulous beaches, Arcata, Trinidad, Redwood National park, great restaurants and lots of fun.
My cabin truly is a tiny house that I called home for several years. I love it and try to make it a nice home for you. The bed is in the loft, the loft has a railing on one side only. Please review the photos of loft bed and stairs, which are not steep and have lots of hand holds. Because of this, the space is not appropriate for children or people who wouldn't feel comfortable in this situation. Also I welcome pets but limit the accommodation to one dog only.
