You will have total privacy but if you need anything im a 5 minute walk down the road and always reachable by phone.
The cabin is a open space concept with the bed in a sleeping loft. Must be able bodied to climb up the steep and narrow staircase.

Our cabin has all the essentials of home, coffee, tea, cooking spices. The kitchen is also stocked with dishes, pot, pans, and utensils. We are located 20 miles from Soldotna. There is a gas station, cafe & grocery store about 7 miles away. We overlook Cook Inlet & have a towrope to the beach. There is a road to the beach a mile down the road. On a good tide people have caught salmon & halibut off the beach. We are located 7 miles from the Kasilof river & 6 from the mouth of the river.
You have your own gas grill & firepit with plenty of firewood. The upstairs has a loft with 2 double beds & the bedroom has a queen. The stairs in the cabin are ship-stairs, very steep. I’m not handicap accessible at this time. If you have mobility issues this is not ideal, the stairs are straight up. I’m sorry.
Fishing, people come to fish, clam and walk the beach, or just to relax. We also have a large assortment of birds, the biggest being the bald eagle. There is always something going on in the summer on the peninsula, depending on your interests. We are here to help with making your vacation everything you want to do. The Kasilof river is just 7 miles away and the mouth of the river is 6 miles away.
  • Shell Cottage is a charming spot with truly epic views across Cook Inlet. Darlene and Bruce are kind, openhearted people and great hosts. I couldn't recommend this place more positively! It's a true beach cottage and has that cozy on-a-(well-appointed) boat feeling. I'm already looking forward to the next time! Five stars.

  • This is a lovely little cottage with pizazz. The location is ideal if you want to relax, you can hear and see the water from the front door. It was a very comfortable place and the host is very approachable and makes every effort to make sure you are comfortable. The location is not too far from Kenai and Soldotna. The kids had a blast with a verity of Games to entertain them.

  • This charming cottage has spectacular views of Cook Inlet and the mountains. The area is very quiet. Was a wonderful place to spend the week! Thanks again!

  • I had pretty high expectations about going here from other reviews and I was pretty nervous about showing our own guests a good time. Darlene and her cottage not only exceeded all of my expectations but staying here melted away all of the stress I had. Such a great place to relax and such a wonderful host. I am definitely going to save this and come back again.

    Katie2019-12-21T00:00:00Z

  • We spent another beautiful weekend at Shell cottage. Darlene and Bruce really make you feel like family. Shell cottage is not only beautiful but peaceful and the little touches means so much. We have definitely found our escape away. I could not ask for better host who went above and beyond to make sure we had a fabulous time. Even with the clouds we had the best views and an incredible time.Shell cottage is magical and I highly recommend booking your escape now. Thank you Darlene for all of the fun experiences we had this trip I can’t wait to come back again.

  • Wow, we can't say enough good things about Shell Cottage. Darlene brought over warm clothes just in case we didn't have enough, everything we could ever need was provided, she left a special touch for the birthday girl, and made sure our night by the fire was eventful. We felt like a part of the family. The cottage and the land was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. We are already planning a trip back next summer! We LOVE this place and the people.

Which they made happen immediately! Its very beautiful and quiet. Tge fire rings are unique and picnic tables well crafted and beautiful too. We will be back every year to watch the area grow!

Trailblazers of Alaska is a family owned and operated seasonal cabin rental located on the Kenai Peninsula. Early May bookings are dependent on temperatures so please email before booking for availability. Our cabin 200 ft from our home and we are year round residents that live a fairly typical Alaskan lifestyle. It is not located in a wooded area. We live a typical Alaskan lifestyle. We are located in a rural neighborhood just a short distance off the highway.
We are located 45 minutes north of Homer, AK A family friendly cabin where even the pet (or two for a non-refundable fee) is welcome. We have a large bar-b-que, fire pit and offer the serenity and quiet of a family farm with background noise of chickens, roosters and far away sounds of traffic, that you would enjoy after the hustle and bustle of city life. The water is from a well and does not have a high sulfur or iron content. We do provide a water filter on the Kitchen sink for convenience of our guests. Our cabin is down home countrified eclectic charm. Some rustic touches with the convenience of amenities you would find in a standard hotel room. The main area has a small, complete kitchen/dining area, compact bathroom with shower, a sleeping room that accommodates three and a loft area over the bathroom that has two sleeping arrangements for the more athletic/agile in your party. The cabin is a separate dwelling located a short distance, 200 feet, from our personal residence on our 11 acre property where we reside year round. We live a typical subsistence focused Alaskan lifestyle. You will have the fun of hearing our roosters announcing the start of another glorious, adventure filled day. We love to greet our guests on their arrival, if possible, otherwise we are available most times for questions, information or just plain "neighborly" chit chat. Our property is located just off the main highway in a small rural neighborhood of approximately 11 residents. The road is not paved so be prepared for possible bumpy transfer from the main road. There is no public transportation. Car rental agencies are available at any airport you arrive in however if this is your first trip I strongly recommend the scenic drive from Anchorage to Ninilchik which takes approximately 4 hrs in season with traffic and stops but is oh so worth the pictures you will obtain and the beauty you see. The village of Ninilchik is a short 10 minute drive south of our location where you can access the Ninilchik and Deep Creek Rivers, the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds and travel into the Caribou Hills. In the summer our little neighborhood is the home of a flock of Sandhill Cranes too. Plus we have frequent visitors of the 4 legged variety...large and small
Small rural area with a few neighbors.
  • Stayed at Renee’s place for Salmon Fest and had a great time! Renee and her husband were very welcoming and friendly. The cabin had everything we needed for the 2 nights with a heater if needed! Plenty of towels, pillows and space! Very quiet and private. Will stay again next year if we can!

    Kellie2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • It’s cozy - and comfortable Alaskan cabin - also pet friendly - I felt a lot of privacy and it’s quiet. My group felt roomy and had a great stay! I will stay here again the next time in the area.

  • Lovely rustic cabin just as advertised. We enjoyed the quiet and peace of the Kenai peninsula while visiting.

    Vanessa2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Renee was a great host! She and Shawn welcomed us as we arrived and the cabin was ideal for our stay the night before our fishing charter out of Ninilchik. The beds/mattresses were comfy and the temperature in the cabin was just right. We hope to stay there again on our future trips to the area.

    Karen2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Shawn and Renee are such hospitable hosts. We felt so welcome from the minute we arrived. Communication is fantastic. Very secluded location one mile off the Sterling Highway at Mile 121, affording our guests opportunities to see moose, eagles and even bears on our 28 acre property.
  • This place is fantastic - away from it all. The view is even better then the pictures. It’s away from it all - but in a very good way. We had a situation with the road closure on the Sterling Highway due to the Swan Lake fire and our hosts were fantastic - allowing us to leave when we could. Fortunately, we were able to get out a few hours later. We would stay here again in a heartbeat

    Jeffrey2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing cabin. The view is simply stunning, but to make it even better the cabin is perfection. Super clean, every amenity you can think of, comfy, and cozy. Wife and I stayed for 5 days and loved every minute even though forest fires in the Kenai tried to ruin some of our trip. Highly recommend!!!

    Chris2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two days of our honeymoon here and it was amazing very clean, cozy, and the view was unparalleled!!

    Bob2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The views were amazing from sunrise to sundown! The location is ideal for those looking to get away from it all. It’s remote and quiet, yet also close enough to everything to day trip. The space itself is well thought out and has an Alaskan charm. The kitchen was fully stocked with just about everything you can think of as far as cooking utensils. There is also a grill outside for your use. The bed was complete heaven to sleep in. I enjoyed my time spent on the porch whether it was rain or shine. You will not be disappointed. I’ll definitely be back=0)

Soak up the view in a relaxed setting at the Moose Bluff Inn! We are located close to the great Kenai and Kasilof River! Our house overlooks the ocean (cook inlet) and has beach access about a mile down the road. We are about a 20 minute drive from Soldotna, 30 minutes from Kenai, and an hour from Homer. Come relax on the deck, or enjoy a fun filled day of fishing and sight seeing! We do live at the house and are willing to interact with guests as much as you'd like.
We rent out 3 seperate rooms, all with their own bathrooms. The kitchen, living room, laundry room, TV room and deck are all open and shared spaces. Every bathroom has jetted tubs!! This is "The Whale Room"
We do have neighbors, but not too close by. All the houses this way are quite spread out.

He has new crockpot, toaster oven, toaster, and microwave. There is also a two burner stovetop. Lots of outdoor space and close to Ninilchik.

  • The Kasilof Getaway was beautifully put together clean and one of the most pleasant places I’ve ever stayed at . Kent is a super host and has everything laid out at your fingertips

    Laurel2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • As always this place is a gem!!! Thank you Kent good to stay here it was our second time!

    Allison2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect fishing getaway. We came down with my parents for a bit of fishing and were successful. The house itself was great to return to after long days. The fish house was the best part for the final steps of processing. All in all, the house had everything we could have needed and wasn’t far from Kenai River. I would stay here again.

    Donna2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Perfect fit for our family. We enjoyed our stay and it was clean and spacious for 6 of us. Fish house was clean and ready for processing.

    Trent2019-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really nice place out in a quiet location. I highly recommend staying. There's a great sub place at the end of the Street and the Kasilof is across the street. Homer is a short drive away. Can easily drive to Homer to The Hole, come back up for a sub and then go fish the Kasilof. Kent is proactive in viewing and promoting feedback for increasing the value of the cabin and enjoyment of the stay. He's a great person to deal with. Will plan to stay again next fishing trip.

    Eric2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kent’s place was great and amazing. We didn’t use the fish house but is a great amenity to have there to be able to cut/package your own fish! His place was clean and had all the amenities needed! Would stay there again! Communication with Kent was excellent! GREAT place to stay! Thanks Kent!

    Kelly2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Gem of a spot! Great communication with Kent and during our stay Daniel and Shelly were super friendly and helpful

    Allison2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great find, the place was well kept. It was nicely furnished, the two bathrooms were great after a bunch of people fishing all day. There was plenty of free parking on site, that was big enough for me to park my truck and large boat. The fish house behind the cabin was a great place to package all of our fish and put them in the chest freezer provided. Great bonus to this rental. I would reccomend this cabin, and will stay here again on my next adventure to Alaska.

  • This little log cabin is like a storybook. So comfy, warm and inviting. Has everything you need to be comfortable and then some. Absolutely the best beds we slept in on our whole trip! Loved our stay and would recommend to anyone traveling through the area.

  • What a delightful place to stay. Make sure you make plans to stay for more then one night. The first evening I was greeted right outside my deck by a mama moose and her baby, then the second night my dinner on the deck had the entertainment of the bald eagles soaring 6 feet over my head, squawking away on the trees next to the cabin. The view is beautiful as well as the cutest cabin. Chris has thought of everything. I highly recommend staying at Chris’ cabin!! Can’t wait to return.

  • WOW!!! This cabin is the cutest! The view and sounds of the ocean was an amazing bonus to staying here. Christina was incredibly welcoming and an excellent communicator. This cabin was exactly what we needed and then some! Cabin was clean, beds were comfy, amenities were perfect and the view from the porch is absolutely incredible. We also loved the garden flower arrangement - felt like home!

    Megan2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start! Lovely little cabin with an amazing ocean view. Christina has truly thought of everything. There are snacks of all kinds available and dishes and necessities carefully stowed out of sight in the cubicle storage. The decor was welcoming and the beds were soft and comfortable. This is not a large place, which suits me perfectly, but she has packed every (clean and organized) space with anything you could possibly need. There are a variety of teas, some coffee, and a couple of gallons of water ready for making your beverages. The bathroom was also well-stocked with all kinds of miniature (and full size) shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotions. She has a hair dryer, y'all. I didn't pack one as our Alaskan adventure is mostly hiking and all things outdoor, so I felt very pampered to be able to dry my hair in the morning. We only stayed one night, but will definitely be back! Oh, and there were two bald eagles that came to hang out in the evening. Just a cool thing to experience while hanging out on the perfect little porch.

    Michael2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem. Peaceful, cozy, with a view to soak up. And just a few miles from the Kasilof river which we had to ourselves (and brought home two sockeye!). Christina graciously accepted us last minute and we are so thankful. Hope to be back very soon!

    Ryan2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolutely lovely cabin - and the view from the front porch is spectacular! We so enjoyed our stay and trust you will as well. Everything was as described. It's cozy, inviting and thoroughly a treat. Christina was very helpful also.

  • Glen and Dianne were great hosts, friendly and welcoming. The cabin was super clean and cozy, had everything we needed and we really appreciated the on-demand water heater at the end of a cold, rainy day. Would absolutely book here again!

  • This little cabin provided us with a secure and more than comfortable getaway. The cabin is warm, quiet, super clean, and has a well appointed kitchen. I was impressed by the surrounding grounds while out nature walking. Blissful and transforming as only Mother Nature can be. I highly recommend this location!

    Christian2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Glen was an awesome host. We also arrived a little later than anticipated and he texted ensuring our safety. He was kind enough to give directions and show us around the property. The location is perfect, it’s about 40 mins from Kenai and Homer. The cabin itself was super cute, very clean, and it has indoor bathroom amenities inside the cabin. I’ve been to some places showing a bathroom in the cabin, but doesn’t have one after arriving, so this was definitely a plus. There’s tons of wild life and they have a dancehall on the property where they have live bands and karaoke. Overall I rate 10+ stars. Kind people and beautiful scenery, you can’t ask for more. Thank you again Glen for having us!

  • We really enjoyed our stay here! The cabin is perfect for a couple with really thoughtful touches and comfortable, home-y decor throughout. The stairs are steep, so do be careful, but they are not insurmountable if you’re careful. The location is great for fishing the Kasilof River with only a short drive to Soldotna. We plan to come back next time we’re in the area.

New this year is a treated water system, covered awning over deck, BBQ grill, and outdoor wood furniture. The cabin has large windows, heated tile floors downstairs with Lifetime floors in upper bedrooms. There are black-out blinds for privacy and sleeping. Kitchen has all the essentials. Bathroom has shower/bath combo with washer/dryer for your use. Cabin is within 5 min. to beach & Kasilof River access for great salmon fishing and 25 minutes to Kenai River for world class salmon fishing.
The cabin is decorated in a wolf theme as the name states and was brand new in 2018. The beds are very comfortable and the cabin is warm and cozy. We just put in a water treatment system and we can now say we have the best water in the area. There is a gas range for cooking inside and gas grill outside on deck. There is a refrigerator for food and an extra freezer for the fish you catch. There is also a washer/dryer for your use during your stay. The black-out blinds make it nice to sleep day or night.
Wooded area with opportunities to see moose every day walking through the area.

  • Sharon and Frank were outstanding hosts. The communication prior to arrival and all during our stay was exceptional. The cabin is a true Alaskan cabin (with a flush toilet!) that is sparkling clean and exactly as described in the listing. The king bed is super comfortable. Sharon had all kinds of “extras” for us including breakfast, coffee, snacks, juice and all the local information we needed. She even had fresh fireweed on the table for us. The value is extraordinary. The location is perfect and was especially great for us as we fished most of our stay. The laundry is great as is the ability to use the full service stove and the fish cleaning station. These folks are remarkable and I can’t wait to visit again!

Enjoy what our towns have to offer with unlimited and unique gift shops to shop for the folks back home, quaint restaurants and shopping for the basic supplies to make your trip complete. There is unlimited fishing, kayaking, and hiking opportunities with a 26 mile loop bike pathway connecting Soldotna and Kenai for walking, jogging or riding your bike. For those who enjoy a good game of golf, we have three courses where you can make your selection. There are beaches where you can look for unique agates or unusual rocks or you can watch the local set-netters and dip-netters fill their nets with salmon. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax in the evenings, make your reservation with us. We will be happy to assist you in any way we can, it will be your "home away from home" where you will want to kick your feet up and relax. Isn't that what a vacation is all about?
  • Disclaimer here is we never actually stayed at this cabin because we were unable to get there as a large wildfire had shutdown the Sterling Highway, HOWEVER, I still rated 5/5 stars all around because Robert and Eleanor were extremely helpful and accommodating with the situation. There were completely understanding that it was completely out of our control that we weren't able to make it there and generously refunded the entire cost of the stay (minus the AirBnb fees). Strictly from the experience dealing with Robert and Eleanor, we intend to stay here if we end up in Alaska again!

The Kenai Peninsula is a fishing mecca in the summer. RV spots are hard to find and expensive. I have 5 acres of beautiful land in Kasilof that IS the perfect place to park your self contained RV or camping. The Kenai River and beaches are nearby as well. Homer is just down the road (63 miles) for those who want to go Halibut fishing.
You might have to combat fish, but you can beat the crowds in this quiet setting. We only host a few guests at a time. We offer a community fire pit, BBQ, and outdoor chairs and firepit. We can't promise NO mosquitoes, but we have a mosquito service come in every 21 days--it's been heaven.
This is a very quiet subdivision that even locals don't know it's exists. Yet, it's just off the main road with a well maintained road.

The "Moose Room" Soak up the view in a relaxed setting at the Moose Bluff Inn! We do live at the house and are willing to interact with guests as much as you'd like
We rent out 3 seperate rooms, all with their own bathrooms. The kitchen, living room, laundry room, TV room and deck are all open and shared spaces. Every bathroom has jetted tubs!! This is the "Moose Room"
We do have neighbors, but not too close by. All the houses this way are quite spread out.
  • We were not able to make it because of the forest fires but Heather was very understanding and took care of us.

  • A wonderful BNB experience! The views were awesome from most of the windows in the house -sunset out over the bay with the mountains in the background. We had wonderful walks on a secluded beach very close to the residence (maybe a mile) and found some special treasures. We slept in and never heard any dog noises. We slept with the windows open & enjoyed the refreshing sea breezes and good sleep. The hosts were attentive to our needs but also made themselves scarce as we used their kitchen & deck amenities. We were invited to store our freezer & refrigerator items & enjoyed our special diet foods. The whirlpool baths were delicious & helped the back issue I was having. The home is decorated very nicely & has great ambiance- making use of the diffuser in the moose room each night. The hosts were wonderful people to get to know. We recommend and we hope to be back to enjoy again.

  • I have always been a little hesitant booking rooms on airbnb, but this was our first time. Heather and Michael’s place was beautiful with a beautiful view. We stayed for 3 nights and saw moose everyday. My children enjoyed their yard and even their dog. We met briefly with the hosts, but they gave us our space the entire time. They have a very cute and cozy home with an awesome coffee bar. We had open access to their kitchen to cook whenever we wanted. Anytime we travel to that area, we will only book with them. It was a great experience even though our toddler snuck a doggy toy into her bag :) Again! We would recommend to anyone.

The cabin is decorated in a moose theme as the name states and was brand new in 2018. The beds are very comfortable and cabin is warm and cozy.
Wooded area with a lot of opportunities to see moose every day walking through the area. Great fishing areas within 5 minutes of cabin.
  • Daniels place was awesome! Highly recommended! Very very easy check in/out.

  • The cabin was new and in excellent condition and quite spacious. Perfect location for exploring that side of the Kenai Peninsula for a couple days!

  • Great spot, would stay here again. Had our 5 and 2 year old stay in the moose lodge with us. They had fun outside picking flowers and socializing with the other kids staying onsite. Daniel was a great host, we didn’t converse with him too much, but he checked In to see if we had everything we needed mid trip. Highly recommend for getting away, and it’s an easy drive to all the nearby fishing locations

  • An amazingly comfortable and clean place to stay. Super close to the beach, great area to process fish, and overall a really wonderful place to spend time with family and friends.
