  • We really loved our stay here. We were hoping for a place to escape and feel isolated - we got just that. The cabin could very comfortably house a lot more than just the two of us, but it was really good for a romantic retreat. We loved the fireplace, and the kitchen was better equipped than any airbnb I've stayed at before. Would recommend.

  • Loved our time at Birch Haven Cabin. Spider Lake great Lake for swimming and exploring with kayaks & canoes. Perfect area for nightly camp fires-most amazing stargazing! Excellent indoor space with exceptional amenities & gorgeous lake views! Everything we could have asked for in a Wisconsin cabin!

  • We had 7 adults and 2 kids at this wonderful cabin. We had plenty of space between us all! The cabin was clean, and the kitchen was stocked with all the kitchen amenities you would need! The bedrooms in the basements do get a little chilly, especially if you have the air on so make sure to pack some extra warm PJ's. The fire pit was great having next to the little sand beach for the kids! Just be aware if you have very young kids like 2 years or younger to bring a baby gate for the stairs in the house. It was nice that everyone had their own bathroom as well!

  • We stayed at Birch Haven for our first family vacation as adults. We had 6 adults and 2 kids and there was so much room for everyone. The cabin is beautiful!! Our own personal beach for the kids was perfect! We loved sitting by the fire right next to the lake every night. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all of our meals right there! We loved every second of our stay! Thanks Makala!

  • Beautiful place right on the lake with Sandy Beach area that was perfect for the kids! Loved the cabin/Northwoods decor. Everything you could ever need in the kitchen. DR table was huge with game table area too. There was a stash of puzzles and games also. Netflix and WiFi was great as we didn't get phone service without. Bathrooms for every bedroom, fans and central sir. Sauna and the paddle boat was an unexpected bonus. There is a gas and charcoal grill. The fire pit area is huge with 4 chairs and lots of wood provided and right next to the water. The property is very large and private, we felt like we were the only one's on the lake. Will definitely be back!!!

  • Great up-north log home on a pretty lake that turned out to be excellent for fishing crappies and bass. Really enjoyed the dining room with vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling windows facing the lake. Spent allot of time in that room at a beautiful lacquered pine table watching loons, eagles and kingfishers work the lake. A bookcase with classic hardbound novels is a nice touch.

  • An inviting and comfortable cabin in a beautiful setting and an excellent and responsive host made for a wonderful 4-day weekend! Too many amenities to mention! A great place to stay!

  • Excellent winter cabin experience! Plenty of space in a beautiful lake setting for our group. Having a bathroom in each room was fantastic. The basement bedroom with the fireplace and leopard print theme was a memorable favorite. All in all, a lovely place to spend our winter weekend.

Trailhead Lodge in Clam Lake is the ideal lodging option for sportsmen and riders of all types. Located on the edge of Clam Lake, Wisconsin directly on prime Northern Wisconsin ATV and snowmobile trails and in walking distance to the bars and restaurants of Clam Lake. The lodge sleeps 8-10. This vacation rental has a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and a 800 sq foot bar and entertainment room with two big screens – ideal for your group & Northern Wisconsin ATV and snowmobile vacation.
  • The Trailhead Lodge is quite large and very clean. It sits right in "downtown" Clam Lake and is very close to the gas station and the couple bars in the area. There are plenty of beds for larger groups and has a great open living room area where everyone can relax. I would definitely recommend if you are visiting the area, especially if you have a large group, as it is a very convenient location and is close enough to Cable and Hayward, but is still far enough away to be quiet at night!

    Clam Lake, WI, United States

Built as a winter or summer escape for a couple or small family, this beautiful four season cabin is a great way to experience the northwoods of Wisconsin. The home is very private, and has great access to the lake, the woods, and the Hayward area.
The cottage sits on 3.5 acres with 350 feet of frontage on upper twin lake making for a very private experience. The surroundings and views are very natural. The house itself is of the classic Northwoods archetype: 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, wood fireplace (wood included) and ample kitchen, living, porch, and deck space. The kitchen has the basics for a cabin, the bedrooms are cozy and have good beds, and the high efficiency fireplace will keep you warm day and night, all season long. We've made the outside space as enjoyable as possible with a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, a picnic area, and a dock for your boat. The home is located on the northeastern tip of upper Twin Lake. Twin Lake is noted for it's great musky and bass fishing, and clear waters. It is also big and deep enough for water skiing and tubing. Upper Twin connects to Lower Twin and the Tiger Cat Flowage as well, so there is a lot of water to explore. If you are looking to relax in private with your loved ones this is a place that exudes family time. Whether it is canoeing on the lake, boating out the lake to the Blackiron Bar for a burger, catching some fresh fish for dinner, biking on the forest roads, or reading on the porch, you will be able to relax undisturbed in this unique Northwoods retreat. Winter is a very special time here...a true winter wonderland. The snow is a pristine white...the solitude at a level that forces you to unwind. Whether it is a snow shoe down the shore of the lake, ice fishing, a cross country ski session at the nearby birkie or Mukwanago trail, or a weekend of snowmobiling...winter is a great get away time. Try the winter...you will be glad you did!!! With the famous resort town of Hayward just 12 miles away you can choose from a variety of world class attractions, restaurants and shops.
Upper Twin Lake is a great medium sized lake for the Hayward Area. The waters are quite clear and are great for swimming at various public islands and points. Fishing is excellent for bass and musky. Walleye, pike, and panfish are also available. Upper Twin Lake connects to both Lower Twin Lake and the Tiger Cat Flowage. The very popular Birkie and Mukwonago ski and bike trails are less than a 10 minutes drive from this cabin. There are also lots of good bars and restaurants within a 10 minute drive. The Blackiron Bar and Grill can be reached by boat and the Wheel Inn is a very short drive. Numerous other Bars and Restaurants are within 5-10 minutes drive. The town of Hayward is 12 miles away and Seeley is 11. Skiing and Biking is available 5 miles away on both the Birkie Trail and Mukwanago trail systems. Snowmobile and ATV trails a very short distance away.
  • We had such lovely weekend at this picturesque cabin. It had everything we needed for an easy get-away: cozy fireplace, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful scenery.

  • A lovely cabin, perfect for our small family!

    Brian2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy location with great views of the lake, located just minutes of the trails for mountain biking, snowmobiling, or ATV. The cabin is very comfortable and clean, and it had everything we needed for a great stay. Right in between Hayward and Cable, in a quiet location by a lake. The canoe provided was a welcome, unexpected perk!

    Cristina2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is an Awsome place with a beautiful view of the lake and right on the snowmobile trail.

This cabin is northwoods relaxation at it's finest...large lot, dock for your boat, clear water swimming, fine furnishings, great views, great fishing, close to ski and bike trails and and close to Hayward...a great spot for couples' retreats in all four seasons.
Having worked in professional interior design for many years I know what makes a space feel warm and inviting. This home has it. The photos speak the truth. The space is well adorned with all of the essentials, and a few extras.
This home is on Upper Twin Lake, which is part of the 2300 acre Tiger Cat Flowage. There is great fishing, canoing, and bird watching. The water is very clear, and the dock on the point has deep water for swimming. The location of the home is about 9 miles from Hayward. It is also in an area with many nice restaurants. Finally, the "OO" and Mukwanago ski/bike/hike trail heads are both within a 10 minutes drive.
  • Wow! We loved it. I'm so glad we went in the winter. We loved sitting in the great room, with the fireplace crackling, looking out the gigantic windows to the frozen beautiful lake. We are so hoping to make it back. Winter wonderland!

  • Beautiful cabin! Very peaceful space. I wish we had had more time to enjoy it!

    Alison2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our 2nd stay was as magical as the 1st one! Will definitely make this an annual trip. :)

    Laurent2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is very beautiful, spacious and perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway for 2-4 people. We will be back! Just a few notes... Surroundings- even though we stayed in the winter, it was so relaxing to be able to look out on the lake. Watching snowmobiles zoom by was pretty fun too. AND, we were lucky enough to see a HUGE buck walk right by our bedroom windows one morning! Also, there is a Walmart about 15min out if you forget to bring anything. Kitchen- mostly stocked with everything you need minus seasonings and spices (so bring your own). TV- there is a tv, but no local channels or streaming service. If you want to watch anything you'll have to bring your own dvd player/ipad, etc. Bathtub- the tub is mighty nice, but the water heater needs to reboot before the tub is even close to being full. So if you plan on using the tub, plan on boiling a bunch of water beforehand.

    Carrie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Serene, quiet, and memorable. We'll hope to be back.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Molly's place, it's a great spot for a weekend winter getaway. Large stylish space with everything you need, really cozy with the fire going looking out over the frozen lake. It was easy to find and the road was well maintained after a snow storm. We were almost hoping to be snowed in to stay longer!

    Damien2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the Refined Tiger Cat Cottage was truly magical! We walked in and were immediately greeted with the warmth and beauty of a specialty curated cabin. There was not only magical touches throughout the space, but the updated amenities made this stay flawless. We were going to tour the area but felt like we had the best show (the lake lit up by the full moon) at our disposal and we stayed in. The hosts had all the info we needed about the cabin easily accessible and Molly was quick to respond to questions as we were leaving. Thank you for creating such a stunning retreat! It was truly memorable!

  • The "nest" was very clean and a pleasant place to stay. Jan is a great hostess and the location was fantastic for the state XC ski championships.

  • The Nest is a fantastic base camp for your ski and bike adventures in the Cable area. It has everything you'll need to keep rested, clean and fueled between outings. The setting is very serene and quiet, so you'll sleep well between outings. Furthermore, Jan and Jerry are fantastic hosts, and there is a lot of great wildlife viewing from your window (we saw grouse and many deer).

Explore thousands of acres of public forest land and enjoy endless miles of some of the best recreational trails Wisconsin has to offer. Step out of the yurt, located in the middle of Bayfield County Forest land, and right onto CAMBA mountain bike trails and the North End ski trails (which connect to the American Birkebeiner ski trails). This is a rustic, minimally maintained yurt so come prepared to relax, unwind and enjoy/explore the wonders of the north woods.
This yurt is nestled in the Bayfield County Forest and is only accessible by foot, snowshoe, ski, or bike. Our yurts are 20 feet in diameter and insulated for year round use, complete with woodstove. Fire wood is provided only for heating with the woodstove. The yurt comes equipped with 2 bunk beds; a full mattress on the bottom and a twin mattress on top and sleeps up to 6 people. No linens or pillows are provided, so be sure to pack your sleeping bag. A picnic table is also located inside the yurt. Outside the yurt we have a bear proof box to store all your food, along with a deck, picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse. This is bear country and the yurts are made out of fabric. Please use the box to store all food and never leave food inside the yurt. A rundown of the basics: Bathrooms: the yurt does not have indoor plumbing, nor access to water, but is located near a pit toilet/outhouse, which is available year-round. Capacity: Can sleep up to 6 people. Additional overnight guests are not allowed. Accessibility: Only accessible by foot, snowshoe, ski, or bike. No motorized vehicles, of any kind, are allowed. Cooking: All yurts have a picnic table and fire ring with grill grate for outdoor cooking, and a bear proof locker for secure outdoor food storage. No candles, or other open flames are allowed inside the yurt. Cooking is permitted in the yurt only during the winter (on top of the metal hot plate). Extra caution must be used when cooking inside the yurt. Electricity: no access to power. Water: no running water or direct/immediate access to water. Prepare accordingly. Closest water source would be the city of Cable. Heat: Yurts have a wood stove for heat. Split firewood is provided for use in the woodstove only. Matches, lighters or other ignition sources are not provided, so please plan accordingly. Firewood: Wood will be provided for the wood stove which heats the yurt. Dead and down wood can be collected from the surrounding forest for use in the fire ring. A bow saw and axe are also provided. Pets: no pets allowed within the yurt or on the premises. No exceptions. Smoking: no smoking within the yurt. If you do smoke outside, please discard butts in the fire ring.
The yurt is located a few miles south of the small town of Cable. Gas stations, a grocery store, numerous restaurants and other quaint shops are all located within Cable. The city of Hayward is located about 20 miles to the south. Hayward contains larger supermarkets and retail shopping centers, as well as additional restaurant and shopping opportunities. Bayfield County contains more public forest land than any other county in the state of Wisconsin. Nearly 172,000 acres of Bayfield County Forest land, about 273,000 acres of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, approximately 27,000 acres of state owned lands, roughly 6,000 acres of Parks Service lands and around 8,000 acres of other municipal owned lands. In total, about 51% of Bayfield County, almost 500,000 acres of land, is in public ownership. The opportunities to explore and recreate are almost endless.
  • Beautiful spot amongst the trees! We stayed for 3 nights and had plenty to do with our 2 small children, along with some time for each of us adults to take turns skiing. I was amazed at how nice the ski trails were this late in the year. The yurt was spacious and warmed quickly. Absolutely gorgeous setting and an easy hike/ski in. We'll definitely be back, thank you!

    Katarina2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt was just as advertised and that was every bit what we wanted! It is perfectly situated; far enough from the parking lot to be peaceful yet near enough for an easy hike up with our gear. It took a while to warm up (highs in the teens the day we were out) but once it did it was perfect! We packed up our food and water and enjoyed some lovely meals and time for games and reading. We all slept soundly but not before spending time outdoors with the most amazing winter stars! The yurt was the perfect base for our weekend of skiiing and snowshoeing the lovely North End trails and we can’t wait to do it again.

  • love this yurt! was the perfect winter birthday trip!

    Ray2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is my third time back to the Yurt, and I wouldn't change a thing (except maybe not going when there's two ski races happening! Definitely more commotion than I'm used to from previous trips.) We find a new ski trail to try every time we visit!

    Liz2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A friend and I stayed here for a winter weekend of skiing. I found it plenty comfortable, and once we had a fire going it was a nice temperature inside. While it can hold six, it was perfect for two. Even four people, at least in winter, would be very crowded. Check-in was easy and we found it clean and really quiet. Bring some firestarters and some skill at getting a fire going. The firewood was a bit damp and took some work to get going.

    Adam2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is my favorite winter trip every year! Everyone we run into on the ski trails is always curious about it. I love that it's actually pretty easy to get very warm inside (even as a person that is not great at fires). We toboggan'd in two days worth of stuff and had a great time!

    Meredith2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was so beautiful and peaceful there. The trails were incredible and really fun to ski on. They yurt was everything we needed for a rustic winter experience!

We ate at the Rookery Pub and Cafe and had a wonderful dining experience. The food was exceptional and customer service was amazing. Recommend for a quiet weekend getaway.

  • Classy, private retreat! It was clean and well equipped. The grounds are amazing. We will be back for a longer stay next time and have dinner at the Rookery. Very convenient to kayak the Namakagon river. A very special dog hangs out with you while you're there.😊

  • This is a great choice for travelers in the north woods! Unfortunately we were just passing through on our way to a college visit and did not have time to enjoy the grounds. A lovely setting. Well appointed & well designed guest room.

If you want to kick back, unplug, and enjoy an evening campfire, this is the place for you. Newly remodeled cabin with on a spring fed pond near the Namakagon River, Birkie and CAMBA trails. The cabin is close to Seeley, Cable, & Hayward. Propane heat & stove, a full kitchen & refrigerator. There's a bonfire pit, deck, charcoal grill, short trail to the dock on the water, plus a canoe, paddles, and life jackets. Outhouse. There's no running water but outside hand pump well for water.
Just off Hwy 63, follow the abandoned railroad grade through a tunnel of trees to the cabin on a point surrounded on three sides by a spring pond. The bird life is amazing—ducks, swans, geese, wading birds, grouse, finches, eagles. We rebuilt this cabin in 2017 into a one room kitchen-living room with an upstairs loft. The living room/kitchen area has a single sofa bed. The loft has a low ceiling and has three beds with a great window view to the springs. A large porch faces southeast while windows look out over the springs. We have four outdoor chairs and a table on the deck with a new Weber grill, solar shower, and bonfire ring nearby. No bedding provided—bring your own pillows and sleeping bags. There is a coffee maker plus plates, silverware, pots and pans, etc. Toilet paper included. The water from the hand pump well is safe (tested in 2019) but bring drinking water as the water is high in iron. You may want to bring campfire wood + there's plenty of dead wood to collect near the cabin, just not cut up. There's a bow saw in the house. We've left an older canoe plus paddles and life jackets (though you may want to bring your own for fit) including kids and a dog size.
This region is the xc ski and mountain bike capitol of NW Wisconsin. This cabin in the woods feels private, with neighbors a few hundred yards further down the railroad grade.
  • The cabin is the perfect cozy escape. The windows and views are beautiful and it was a great space to warm up in between hikes. Everything is as described. We hope to be back in the summer!

  • Charly’s cabin is great! It’s secluded, clean, warm, and cozy. It’s like camping in style! Loved it.

  • This was a last minute stop for us - we were looking for a place to crash during our drive from Chicago to Northern MN - and were so lucky to come across this place!! The hosts were super responsive. Entry with the code was a breeze. Place was very clean. The surroundings were beautiful - took a long walk down the snowy trail with our puppy. Played Scrabble :) had a great time and would definitely recommend!

  • Perfect launch point for adventure. Canoeing on the lake and river, atv/snowmobile trails, many national and state parks to explore through hiking right near by, and more that I’m looking forward to explore. Wonderful scenery right out the window and easy access to the state highway to take you to the many beautiful areas near by. The cabin itself is well maintained and clean. Highly recommended.

    Emmanuel2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an easy check in. The cabin was clean. We enjoyed the quiet. Could hear the road when we were outside. Our dogs loved roaming the woods.

    The Pond Cabin
This spacious, adorable 2 bedroom cabin is located in the heart of the woods in Glidden, WI with access right on a snowmobile/ATV trail. You can relax in the beautiful all-season sunroom with many windows for enjoying the outdoor views, especially of the 200 year old maple trees. Located on its own private one-acre pond for fishing and swimming, within walking distance of Marion Park, and on the edge of the Chequamegon National Forest, this is a perfect getaway for recreation and relaxation!
  • What a great cabin! Cozy and in a great location - the grounds were lovely and the cabin has everything you'd need. Wish we had more time to spend there and will definitely return if we head up that way again!

    Becky2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice location. Even being close to the roads it felt very secluded. We would recommend this cabin and we will look into staying there again

    Timothy2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • loved the wood fireplace and the feel of a real cabin, not just another log home. very nice place.

    Jordan2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was cute, quiet and secluded, but we still had cell service which was nice! There is a sign in book with stories from others who have stayed. It was neat to read and lead us to checking out Copper Falls. Our doggos enjoyed the cabin and the nature!

    Kaydee2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay with a beautiful view of the stars at night. Great all around!!

    Sarah2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome getaway! The cabin is secluded and the private pond is a bonus, along with the awesome sunroom! We loved everything and definitely recommend staying here!

    Morgan2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Environment is beautiful. The local laundry mat for two loads is about $9. But it is clean and the washer and dryers are big. I suggest brining binoculars to see across the pond. There was deer daily and other animals you can see. The town of Glidden was very hospitable to visitors. The Bear Crossing food is delicious for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Brandi2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at The Pond Cabin over July 4th weekend with my Golden Retriever, just looking for a quiet place to relax. It was absolutely perfect! Cabin was clean, tidy, beautiful and cozy. There was firewood available. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and my dog loved the pond!

  • We enjoyed our time here on Birkie weekend. Be aware that bedrooms have electric heaters to supplement the gas fireplace in living room. We enjoyed the stereo system and nice view of the lake. Also be sure to byo soap for shower and any spices for cooking. Thanks for a nice visit!

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was excellent and the forest was beautiful! We visited during a snowy Thanksgiving so we especially appreciated the cozy fireplace. We're looking forward to coming again in the summer!

    Nathan2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy place to stay! The kitchen is well stocked with dining and cookware, as well as some basic cooking items (oil, salt, pepper). TVs with movies and video games in the main room and each bedroom, as well as board games and puzzles will give you plenty to do if the weather keeps you in. The lake is very peaceful and a great place to be. Cell coverage isn't the greatest, I was running on 3G quite often (I have Verizon). Be sure to bring bath towels and I'd also recommend bringing some soap for the shower. We came out to ride our dual sport motorcycles on forest roads, and the quaint cabin is in the perfect spot for it! Makala was a great host, we hope to come back!

    Judy2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at our stay in the Quaint Clam. Disconnecting from every day life was our overall goal and we definitely did that here. The extremely cozy cabin feel had us wanting to stay longer. Makala is friendly and accommodating.

    Tyler2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing, would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to take a chance to unplug for awhkle

    Derek2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Quaint Clam was a great place for a long weekend with friends! The cabin was clean, with a pretty well-appointed kitchen and some nice extras like games and movies for rainy days. We made great use of the grill and fire ring. Know that the trail/steps down to the water are no joke and folks with mobility issues aren't likely to join you on the dock. And keep an eye out for poison ivy! Otherwise, the lake bottom is mostly sandy and great for swimming! Definitely bring ALL your own towels, including hand towels for the bathroom and kitchen. It's fairly close to a bar, restaurant, and small grocery store - super convenient if you forget anything. Highly recommend!

Our cabin is tucked behind pines right on Highway 63 in Cable. It's within easy walking distance to everything in Cable. It can sleep 5-6, but makes a great space for 2-4. Dedicated area in the basement for plenty of gear. We are about 3 miles from the Birkie start area (xc skiing and a CAMBA fatbike trailhead), 2.5 miles from the North End Cabin, and within a short distance from several other trail areas for skiing, snowshoeing, and fatbiking. ATV & Snowmobile right out of the driveway too.
You get the whole place. The cabin sits on 1 acre of woods within sight of Rivers Eatery (recommended!), so it's a quick walk to town and back after a few beers! Use the kitchen to make yourself a meal and make yourself some coffee. Washer and dryer. There is a basement with a separate room with easy outside access where you could put several bikes and plenty of gear. There are games, cards, coloring books, and a puzzle. Internet and Smart TV. Snowmobilers are welcome - it's easy access right out of the driveway to trails. It's meant to be your jumping off point for all things Chequamegon area, with quick and easy access to Cable. If you have questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Rondeau's is in sight from the driveway and they have both a grocery store and hardware store. For food in Cable, within walking distance you have Velo Cafe, Rivers Eatery, Tilly's Pies, Cable Cafe, and Brickhouse Cafe. Redbery Books sells books and games.
  • Great space and a perfect location for accessing the CAMBA and Birkie trails!

    John2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A very cozy cabin in the woods close to the ski trails. Thoughtfully decorated and renovated. Heat works well. If you are up for a rustic cabin this is a great one.

    Cathryn2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect cabin! Ben is an excellent baker homemade cookies were on the table when we arrived after a long day skiing! Very comfortable and cozy!

    Connie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Cable Cabin was the perfect jumping off spot for skiing and snowshoeing on the Birkebeiner trails. Conveniently located two miles from the North End Trailhead, we loved the cozy atmosphere (floor heating and gas stove!) and sweet touches. Ben couldn’t have been more helpful ahead of time with on-point suggestions and tips and kept us informed about maintenance (plowing due to lots of beautiful snow). We hope to return, our long weekend was awesome!

    Susan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Cable Cabin was just what we were looking for. A cozy home-base for a weekend of XC skiing on the myriad of nearby trails. Ben was awesome, he was very responsive and offered some great suggestions. The place was very clean and refreshingly lacked the almost ubiquitous trinket-style of Northwoods cabins. That said, it was very much a cozy cabin and we'll definitely keep this place in mind next time we're looking for a XC ski get-away.

    Ethan2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place in a great location. Great home made cookies and nice to have a bicycle repair stand in the basement!

    David2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable, cozy warm during a cold season stay. Meticulously clean, lots of room for sports equipment in the basement. Well appointed kitchen. Perfect for up 3-5 adults or a family with kids. Screened by large trees very private -- we felt nestled into the woods, yet were convenient to the amenities of the community with gas, groceries, hardware and a cafe a short walk away.

    Jacqueline2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Location? Perfect! So central to so much! The accommodations were great, perfect for an active weekend away. Bonus is Ben is a great communicator. Highly recommend and will be back. 12/10!

Our cabin is small but mighty (only 576sqft)! It has the potential to sleep 6, but makes a great space for 2-4. We are surrounded by 45 acres of woods with acres and acres of woods across the street. The beauty of silence is eminent. We are less than 2 miles from multiple CAMBA trailheads, 1/2 mile from the canoe put in on the Namakagon River, hiking/running/snowshoe trails, snow mobile and cross country ski trails and the cutest little town ever (at least we think so). IG: @hyggehousewi
In Danish, hygge (HUE-gah) is described in many ways, but it is simply the Danish ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures. Friends, family, graciousness. The Hygge House encapsulates this definition by arming itself with a slow and peaceful way of living. No television, Chemex coffee system, gas fireplace, blankets to snuggle, outside deck for enjoying the peace, yet only 2 miles from town if you're craving some local action.
The Cable Area is becoming the GO TO travel destination, an outdoor center for adventure, fitness, races, nature and wildlife, recreation, learning and art. The town of Cable has a grocery store, 2 gas stations, laundromat, hardware store, library, 2 coffee shops, Rivers Eatery as well as other small bars/restaurants, Rockys Wine Emporium and many more small shops. More information on these places in our guidebook at the House.
  • This is our second time at the hygge house. Its has become an Airbnb favorite. Thank you Kaity and Brett for having us.

    Chris2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely LOVED our weekend getaway to the Hygge House! Everything was incredibly cozy. We went snowshoeing and skiing on the surrounding trails (which are gorgeous!) and then had a fire outside. It looks like a much smaller cabin in the pictures but when you get there it feels very open and spacious! The kitchen was stocked with basic pantry items that made cooking convenient. We’d definitely book this cabin again!

    Elise2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A charming and relaxing cabin in a great location, close to trails, and the fireplace was super cozy!

  • The Bear Den is yet another unique one of a kind place that I have stayed. It was absolutely perfect for me in every way. All of my specific needs were accommodated. Communication was perfect. I arrived late and Glen was right outside to greet me and make sure all was fine. I had a few particular questions on some needs and how/where to park my car/trailer and what entrances to use for the road. All was very perfect for me and my particular style and way of traveling. I will stay at The Bear Den again.

  • Janice and Glen were super hosts. Both were very accommodating and friendly. The Bears Den was perfect for us and super clean. My husband and I went kayaking and enjoyed the local eateries while up in the area. We topped it off by having a nice campfire under the stars at the Bears Den. It was a nice weekend getaway.

  • Our one night stay was not enough! This was the absolute best place to stay, only 4 miles from the inaugural Sawmill Saloon's Fiddlefest, a fun GNO (girls night out). We really enjoyed the quietness of the winter forest. The cabin was warm and cozy, the sauna hot, and showers refreshing. The "outhouse" is equipped with heat and running water- even warm water! We snowshoed to the Birkie trail and looped back to the cabin for a nice easy 60 min trek. I've told my mountain bike all about this special well thought out basecamp and promised to bring it with me next time. The hosts are very friendly and very accommodating.

  • Our family of 5 enjoyed spending 2 nights during the winter in one of the camping cabins. The cabin was clean and warm. We rented fat bikes from a local bike shop and enjoyed riding the nearby trails. We hope to return in the summer. Thanks for a great stay!

    Michele2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, well designed, clean cabin and amenity buildings! We only stayed one night but can’t wait to come back for a longer stay. There are no outlets in the cabin, which can be an inconvenience, however understandable as it is off the grid. Location is beautiful — the trees have all changed to a golden yellow and provided great views out of all of the windows. It was quite chilly during our stay so we did not take advantage of the picnic table or fire ring. Toilets and showers were a quick walk away.

    Hannah2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay. We love the Roam Base Camp. Can't wait to come back.

    Erika2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We were passing through and needed a quick place to crash. We wish we had more time to spend here. ROAM is a mtn biker haven. Miles and miles of trails for bikers or hikers. The cabins, water closets, and showers were spotless. Mo was very responsive and had the lights on for us as we were arriving late in the night. Absolute seclusion and quiet. The cabins aren’t huge but very efficiently and thoughtfully planned as they can sleep 6-8 people comfortably. Fire rings and picnic tables outside for cooking and lounging. Highly recommend!

    Stephanie2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was the best Airbnb experience we have ever had! The cabin was stylish, clean, highly functional and picturesque. The location was very quiet and private, but close to all the activities we wanted to do. Montgomery was responsive and we had everything we needed. Can’t wait to come back!

    Shelly2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very nice. The bathroom building and shower building were very clean and nicer than expected.

    Quincy2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Mo was great! He was able to pick up rental mountain bikes from town for us. They were right there at the cabin when we arrived. It was huge help.

  • A great, roomy cabin on a superb fishing lake. We loved the fireplace, loft, stove/oven, and use of the paddleboat for fishing. We caught small mouth and walleye. Derek was a fantastic host, the entire cabin was beautifully clean and nicely decorated, and there were many small thoughtful touches. Highly recommend!! We plan to book again.

Be our guest in this historic, cozy, and quaint cabin on Garden Lake in Cable, WI. This cabin structure was originally built as WWII barracks and was transported via train to its current location back in the day. The interior has been renovated over the years to accommodate guests.

  • My stay here was absolutely wonderful and beyond what was excepted. From the thoughtful touches to the expansive guidebook shared, the experiences in Cable was nothing less than magnificent. During this time of uncertainty, we were looking for a weekend away to escape the endless downtown of negative news, and Cable provided just that. From the cozy accommodations to the calming exposure to nature, I have no doubt we will return again in the near future.

    Casey2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt felt more like a cabin than a tent. I loved all the wood beams. We enjoyed using the kitchen and the woodstove. The bed was comfortable. Everything was clean, much cleaner and more luxuriously appointed than one expects from a glamping rental. Kent and Elaine had good recommendations for what to do in town and what trails to explore. It was great meeting Kent on his bike. This was experience lodging at its best.

    Matt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A really unique and fun spot in an incredible location. Gorgeous lake views, minutes to Cable and the Birkie start, what else could you ask for? Kent and Elaine were extremely helpful but totally unobtrusive...can definitely see why they’re super hosts. Looking forward to staying here again!

    Todd2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend Kent and Elaine's yurt. Great location for all seasons with easy access to trails.

    Laurel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, with perfect hosts.

    Laurel2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay in the yurt! Felt very secluded, even with neighbors. It felt like our own little private get away. Loved the fire pit with ample wood, access to a canoe, and how cozy the yurt felt. Wish we would have stayed longer. Beautiful scenery, great access to the outdoors. Hope to return again!

    Christine2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Welcoming my 50th year in the blue yurt is an experience never to be forgotten! Kent and Elaine provided clear instructions for the wonderful fire burning stove with plenty of wood for our fires inside at out. The well appointed bathroom and kitchen with cool sleeping space up in the loft were nice details. The mist over the lake was mystical and beautiful. The quick trip to Cable and Birkie trailhead was an absolute plus. We will be back!

    Stephanie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really special and worth every penny. Kent and Elaine took great care with this yurt. The bed and other furniture were comfortable, the decor was lovely: thoughtful and in good taste, the rugs everywhere kept our feet from getting too cold, the bathroom was well equipped, and even the shower had good water pressure. We enjoyed burning the wood-fired stove in the mornings to take the chill out of the air, and campfires in the evenings. The canoe was so fun. You can hear the loons at night. Amenities like grocery, gas, and even coffee (Velo cafe!) and restaurants are a pleasant walk, or very short drive away. We can't say enough good things about the place. Elaine was generous with her excellent recommendations, and their binder of info had tons more information with local things to do. We cooked a lot while staying at the yurt, and the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed. The one thing we recommend is if you plan to do a lot of cooking and prep, maybe consider bringing your own knife or a knife sharpener to give their knives a little love. And a corkscrew if you like to drink wine!

    Andrew2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend getaway at Rhonda’s lake home in Mellen! The space is super clean, well maintained, and tastefully decorated with north woods/cabin decor. Located just outside of the small town of Mellen, it was very convenient for our hiking outing at copper falls state park to see the waterfalls. The town of Mellen had plenty of amenities for us as well, we utilized the grocery/hardware store and one of the local taverns which both served our needs well. Rhonda’s home is just the right size for six adults- big enough to be quite comfortable, yet cozy enough to give a cabin feel-somewhere between a big cabin and a small home. Overall a very comfortable space to spend a weekend among friends, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, or to recommend to friends or family.

  • We had our Christmas family get together and it was great! Plenty of room for everyone, many things in the area to do combined with that up north feeling we were looking for. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen very well equipped and the wood stove really lent the ambiance we were looking for. With a family as large as ours there are many different interests that were satisfied with one location, ice fishing, sledding in Hayward, snowmobiling, reading a good book (many available if you don't bring your own), playing board games (again many available) or just sitting around with good conversation. I can't say enough to recommend the location and Makala is truly an excellent host!

Find Northwood’s tranquility at a Cable area Farmhouse. Centrally located, you will be close to Cable, hiking & biking trails, ski & snowshoe trails, the Firehouse 50 race course, restaurants and two lakes in the area - Lake Owen and Lake Namakagon.
Only minutes away from downtown Cable, this secluded property includes a remodeled farmhouse and two barns sitting on five private acres of pastureland. In the early 20th century, the site was home to loggers and at one point was a Bison Ranch. Enjoy the two barns - one was built for tractors and raising horses; the other as an artist’s heaven.
  • Perfect weekend location for attending the Fat Bike Berkie, only a 5 minute drive from Telemark. Loved the decor, nice eclectic mix of modern amenities and antiques. Way bigger than the pictures showed! Cozy and comfortable.

  • The best part of Buffalo farm is that is is located so close to so many recreational opportunities. Wintertime ski, snowshoe, hiking are all in close proximity. It is close to the small town of Cable, yet very remote, quiet and isolated. It is minutes away from the Birkie trail, some of the best skiing and mountain biking in the Midwest.

  • This camp was awesome! It's a rustic, off-the-grid base camp that's basic, but super modern and super clean. We lucked out and were the only people in the whole place the night we spent there. I kept finding reasons to go outside just to sit and look at the stars. The bathrooms and bath house are modern and extremely well-kept. We can't recommend this place highly enough. It was the perfect place from which to base outdoor activities and spend a remote night in the woods in a supremely comfortable cabin! We will check out ROAM Adventure Base Camp any time we are in the Hayward/Cable area. We loved it!

  • We LOVED this place and cannot say enough good things about it! It’s in a great location, very peaceful and relaxing. The cabins are beautiful and have several windows to let in all of the light and take in the view of the beautiful woods. They were spotless, as were the bathrooms and showers. The owners are very gracious and gave us lots of good advice on what trails to check-out. We can’t wait to go back next summer and camp! ROAM is a true gem.
