  • If you are looking for a dog walking adventure, Lisa and David's place is the best! With the New Forest just under and hour away, Catherington Downs on the door step and the dog sitting services are very useful for rainy indoor days! The Queen Elizabeth park is 10mins away with fantastic dog and bike trails. The local pub The Farmer does great food for good value (and dog friendly). Portsmouth being 20mins away with the Navy museum and shopping center, it is ideal for an indoor day. David and Lisa are lovely welcoming people and were always on hand to answer our needs.

We're in a quiet, cul-de-sac in a friendly village with shops, in an ideal location between the coast, the stunning Meon Valley and Portsmouth, Chichester and Winchester. All our rooms are beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming. Having lived and travelled around the world myself, I'm really looking forward to meeting people from all over the planet and hearing some interesting stories!
The cosy small single room is decorated with a Chinese theme, has a single bed, bedside table and 'bureau' style desk with chair. In the kitchen, there'll be space in the fridge for you to use and you're welcome to use the kettle, toaster and electric cooker to make your breakfast. (There is NO microwave oven). If you need to cook other meals, this will cost an extra £2.50 per day to cover utilities and cleaning. Please let me know on booking. Thank you. (It makes sense to charge this way, rather than increasing the nightly fee by £2.50 for all, as the majority of my guests only want breakfast facilities.) There is a shared bathroom with in-bath-shower and wash basin. The shared toilet is in a separate room, with no sink. (AirBnB don't have these choices to tick.)
The road is very quiet and friendly! In the village and surrounding area there are some lovely café's to get scrumptious coffee/tea and cakes, as well as good pubs and restaurants with delicious menus on offer. There are loads of fantastic countryside walks and cycle routes around, especially in the stunning Meon Valley. We're about a 5 minute walk from a good range of local shops, 5 - 15 minutes from good pubs and restaurants, 15 minutes drive from the A3 motorway between Portsmouth and London. We're within easy reach of the beaches at Hayling Island, Emsworth, West Wittering, and also near to the historic towns/cities of Chichester, Winchester, Portsmouth and Petersfield. Other interesting places to visit are The Sustainability Centre, Weald and Downland Museum, Historic Portsmouth and Butser Ancient Farm. You won't be bored!
  • Sally is lovely, very friendly. Good room, comfy bed, good shower. Denmead is pretty good, couple of pubs which do food, late shop, probably some good walks in the summer,

    Rick2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is an excellent host, very attentive and keen to help with advice if needed. The Chinese Room serves it's purpose perfectly if you are looking for well presented room with a comfortable bed I can recommend it.

  • Sally is a wonderful host, who happily accommodated my stay when timings changed a little. She is a wonderful lady and has a lovely pooch! The room was super clean and so was the living space. Sally is very kind and I felt like I was at a home away from home for my short but sweet stay! I’d 100% recommend. X

All our rooms are beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming. We have a large double room (The Burgundy Room) and a cosy little single room (The Chinese Room) available. We're in a quiet, cul-de-sac in a friendly village with shops, in an ideal location between the coast, the stunning Meon Valley and Portsmouth, Chichester and Winchester. Having lived and travelled around the world myself, I'm really looking forward to meeting people from all over the planet and hearing some interesting stories!

In the kitchen, there'll be space in the fridge for you to use and you're welcome to use the kettle, toaster and electric cooker to make your breakfast. (There is NO microwave oven). If you need to cook other meals, this will cost an extra £2 per day to cover utilities and cleaning. Please let me know on booking. Thank you. There is a shared bathroom with in-bath-shower and a wash basin. The shared toilet is in a separate room, with no sink. (AirBnB don't have these choices to tick.) Your room will be private, but we'll be sharing the open-plan kitchen/dining area for making drinks and at breakfast time, (or other meals by special arrangement). The kitchen can be used to make light snacks, tea and coffee and you must tidy up after yourself, putting crockery into the dishwasher and washing up pans, should you be cooking for yourself. On occasion, I may be able to provide breakfast, at an additional cost, so please let me know what you need. I already share my home with my well behaved, friendly labrador (12) who lives in the lounge/dining area/kitchen and is not permitted in the bedrooms.

A delightful, cosy Grade Two listed cottage built over 250 years ago in the heart of this historical village with it's 12th Century Church, Manor House and Rectory. Just steps away from the beauty spot of Buriton Pond and close access to the stunning walks of the the South Downs Way. There's a cosy wood burning stove in Winter and a sunny terrace for morning coffee in the Summer. I like to make my guests welcome and relaxed but also respect their peace and privacy.
The cottage is very old. Please expect charm and atmosphere rather than luxury. I pride myself on it's old world character, interesting artifacts and pretty, clean and tidy rooms rather than hotel standard Mod Cons. There is no TV in the bedroom and the stairs are steep and uneven. Don't book unless you love the idea of romance and peace!
Guests can easily walk from the cottage to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park or join the South Downs Way. Nearby is Butser Hill with it's stunning views (on a clear day you can see the sea!) and the Butser Ancient Farm. Petersfield, the historic market town is a ten minute drive away with trains into London taking one hour. West Wittering beach and Chichester Harbour is approx 40 minutes drive and ferries to the Isle Of Wight a 25 minute drive. The very beautiful Meon Valley with its charming ancient villages is also minutes away.
  • Lovely, very British cottage with nice interior details. Abigail is a great host. Highly recommended

    Rennie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Abigail’s cottage is the ideal place for calm and relaxing holidays. Abigail is a lovely host, always cheerful and really fast to answer all our questions and give advice about any activities and sights around. We had two wonderful days visiting Winchester and other picturesque villages and towns. The scenery is of great natural beauty. The room was spacious, warm, comfortable and very clean! There was plenty of parking space just outside the cottage on the side of the road. We would definitely recommend Abigail and her lovely place!

    Aris2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome, comfortable room and only a very short walk away from a good pub. Buriton is a quiet and attractive village.

  • Abigail's cottage is very pretty and has everything you need. We stopped for one night whilst walking the South Downs Way. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very powerful too. Abigail made us a cup of tea and lit the fire on our arrival and there werealso tea/coffee making facilities in the room too. Abigail is a very good host and would recommend staying at her cottage if you're in the area. The village of Buriton is also very pretty and is lucky enough to have 2 pubs!

  • Thank you very much for making our aniversary one for the memory books. We were welcomed with a warm smile and I was outstanded in the beauty of the property. It was clean and tidy and the interior choices from little rabbit statues and theme was seen throughout the place made it very easy to relax. We wanted for nothing. The small environment provided everything we could have wanted, kitchen and the bathroom was beautiful with the free standing bath. There was plenty of information on the local area from tea rooms and walks, we had some bad weather so couldn’t enjoy any country walks. We had a lovely night away. Although right next to the property the windows overlooked open greens and you felt alone with nature. We will be visiting again. Thank you to our lovely hosts

Great big bath tub, well equipped kitchen, brand new samsung TV and some lovely home made cakes and marmalade from Nicky. We're planning to return!

Look out across the paddocks where horses now graze in the place of cattle. Light a warm fire and listen to the owls leaving their roost for the night.
It's simple living in a beautiful Mongolian Gerr. Unlike our Woodland Yurt, here we have running water, with showers and toilets in the old cattleshed. There is also electricity should you want it.
The Gerr is on the edge of a stable yard, so you will see people coming and going to look after their horses.
  • Such a peaceful getaway, we have stayed before and would stay again. Highly recommend.

  • A very cozy cottage with everything we needed for our weeks stay! My parents, spouse and I felt very comfortable here with all the amenities and the nice touch of a small Christmas Tree Colum put up for us as we were staying over the holidays. Loved the wood burning fire for ambiance but it was certainly not necessary as the cottage was nice and warm. Everything we needed was provided and we had an excellent time in the quaint surroundings. We would definitely stay again!

Unique stone Sussex cottage called Dean Barn in the National Park on the South Downs Way. The cottage is idyllic for friends, romantic break-away, walkers, family gatherings and is dog friendly. Beautiful original features with beams, log burner, Rayburn, open plan kitchen/living space with comfy sofas and dining table, 3 dbl. bedrooms and bathroom. Surrounded by gardens with a terrace perfect for morning coffee. A very special home which has just become available for short and longer breaks.
This cottage is very unique and you will see why; The cottage is spacious and cosy and presented on several levels. The ground floor is open plan living and kitchen area with under floor heating, a beautiful Rayburn and wood burner with logs provided. The kitchen/dining area is of a bohemian style, being unfitted but well equipped with a large new fridge/freezer, an old pine table and chairs for 6; open shelving with crockery and eating utensils. The living space is gloriously decorated with large comfy sofas to sink into, floor to ceiling shelves packed with books, carefully selected pieces of original art lining the walls and all combined with colourful rugs and poofs scattered for your comfort, adding to the country cosy feel – perfect for curling up in front of the log burner with a book after a long country walk on the South Downs Way! Adjoining the entrance hall is the annex studio where Naomi paints, and Richard works when in the UK. The studio is not currently open to guests but it is possible to view some of the wonderful art which is produced there decorating the walls in the cottage and do check out Naomi Sheed’s Website. The paintings in the cottage are replaced every 6 months and are for sale. The tasteful bathroom is situated a few steps up from the ground floor, with a large double ended bath and overhead shower and a spacious basin area. Up the stairs are three quaint cottage style double bedrooms with views over the surrounding countryside. All bedrooms have original wooden floors with rugs, hanging hooks on the back of doors and ample folding space in chest of drawers. The door to the kitchen opens directly onto the garden with an outside table and chairs, perfect for a coffee break or an early evening drink as you watch the colours of the setting sun against the Downs. Outside you will also find a covered porch and space for muddy boots and to hang coats, as well as a log store. There is a pretty pond, so keep an eye on water loving dogs. At the rear is a vegetable/herb garden which then backs onto the Queen Elizabeth National Park. There are spectacular views and endless walks surrounding the cottage. The tarmac road coming up to the house turns into the South Downs way track right after the house, making this spot the perfect starting point for exploring the downs and beyond! The cottage has parking for 2 cars. The cottage provides free wifi, towels and lovely crisp white linen. The cottage provides a blissful escape and yet just over an hour from London. Its located right on the South Downs Way, is easily accessed by direct rail to Petersfield which is on the Waterloo to Portsmouth line or straight off the A3 which links with the M25 and beyond. This cottage is truly delightful and will make any break or escape a memorable occasion. Groups of 6 work well in the cottage if you are happy to share 1 bathroom.
From the moment you turn off the Buriton road and climb up the Downs the lane gets narrower as you continue on under a canopy of trees, the tarmac ends just after the cottage and becomes a track leading over the downs, then you truly feel you are escaping with large skies and the smell of the forest behind you. There are the larger centres of Winchester, Guildford and Chichester all within reasonable driving distance, as are the harbours and creeks of the South Coast. The village of Buriton has no village shop, but does have two very good pubs, a primary school, village duck pond, church and chocolate box style cottages which are often used in Miss Marple style TV series. Petersfield is a pretty vibrant market town with a choice of supermarkets, Saturday market and a good selection of restaurants, cafes and independent businesses. All within a 3.4mile drive. Goodwood with all its sporting events is within easy driving, as well as Midhurst with its Cowdray Polo, interesting shops and surrounding countryside full of National Trust or English Heritage properties such as Uppark, Stanstead & Petworth House. Portsmouth & Southsea are easily accessible. The sea front, the naval base and historic harbour, cross channel ferry to the continent or to Isle of Wight, plus superb shopping and multiplex cinemas again offer guests many options of entertainment. Or just explore the beautiful countryside walks right on your doorstep, and listen to the deer rutting, or the sounds of the forest at night. Please see driving instructions under directions as co ordinates from Buriton village to the cottage are not picked up by sat nav.

  • Brilliant little place in a beautiful location. My family and I stayed here before I got married at Tithe Barn. It was perfect 👌 Gerald was very accommodating too which I am very grateful for. Would definitely recommend this cottage!

  • A great location for stunning scenery and beautiful walks literally on your doorstep. The cottage is very cosy and clean with little features to make it feel homey. If you enjoy cooking then the kitchen is the perfect size and very well equipped. And Gerald is a great host always quick to answer any questions. A lovely little village and highly recommend it if you're looking for some quiet time and stunning scenery.

  • The Pepper Pot cottage was absolutely adorable. We were a family of 4 who had a friend hop on for the last two nights of our stay. The tea shop a few steps away had everything you would need and the pub across the way was great for a snack or a beer. We found out from a local that we could hang a left out of the driveway through the woods and head to West Marden for a great restaurant at the Victoria Inn. We walked there this way once but realized if you walked the way of the park it was all on flat land and WAY easier. We enjoyed the falconry behind the house and visiting the old church and in town and walking the footpaths around the town. We also visited Stonehenge and Windsor Castle during our stay. The place was quaint and charming and great for our family.

  • My colleagues had a great stay in Gerald's cottage for two weeks. We would definitely recommend it and book it again when we are back in the area.

  • A comfortable, cosy cottage in a fabulous location for exploring the South Downs and the coast. It is so quick and easy to get to from London and then to find yourself in such a beautiful area. A delightful week for us. Sue and Steve Sutton

  • We had a great time in Gerald’s cottage. The house is lovely, a few minutes away from the local pub where the food is delicious, lots of nice walks in the area. It really was what we were expecting for our vacations with our two boys aged 6 and 2 years old. We warmly recommend this cottage.

  • Within walking distance of the South Downs way via a very pretty walk through the woods; great breakfast with a choice of chicken or duck eggs and Janet was very helpful. Only downside was how close the property is to the main road.

Two guest rooms on the ground floor of our beautiful home with exclusive use of a luxury bathroom. Fantastic views from our kitchen and large decking area over the fields, totally secluded. During summer months guests are welcome to use our indoor heated swimming pool, in the detached conservatory. The secure garden is ideal for children, with swings and a trampoline. Our house lies between the villages of Horndean and Catherington, each with great pubs serving home-cooked food and tasty ales.
Our peaceful, tastefully decorated home sits in its own gated grounds with ample parking. The bathroom is luxurious and the beds comfortable and warm. Wifi is available throughout the house and guests are free to use our large living room with its 60 inch plasma TV. Our stunning kitchen/family room has fabulous views over the fields. Help yourself to drinks, cereals, a continental or cooked breakfast if we're not at home, or we will be happy to serve you when we're available. From May until October feel free to use the swimming pool, a lovely way to relax after a busy day sightseeing.
Lovely walks close by, through the local wooded nature reserve and across the fields to Catherington, where you will find a picturesque church, lovely thatched cottages and 'The Farmer Inn' which serves home-made food and a selection of traditional ales. Portsmouth is an easy drive away with its interesting naval history and landmarks. It hosts some great shopping opportunities and the well-known Spinnaker Tower, offering wonderful views of the Isle of Wight and surrounding area. Fifteen minutes drive north brings you to the quaint market town of Petersfield, which is well worth a visit.
  • Phillipa and Richard are great hosts. We had to postpone our booking and they were very understanding and accommodating. They responded promptly. The house is very spacious and was perfect for our son who uses a wheelchair (just one step to kitchen and living area). Large accessible bathroom was outstanding. All round 10/10 for cleanliness. Nice quiet neighbourhood. We loved petting the dogs too. We stayed just one night and it was very relaxing to have plenty of space just for ourselves. Highly recommend for a family of three, as there are two rooms. And perfect for wheelchair users.

  • Clean spacious bedrooms rooms with a generously sized bathroom for the guests, and access to a comfortable lounge/sitting room. Secure gated parking and Philipa ensures you have a tasty breakfast to start the day. She and Richard are very accommodating hosts with plenty of tips for things to d and see in the area. Would certainly recommend!

A lone yurt in ancient woodland. Shrouded in nature. Hear the deer rustle through the brambles and watch the sunlight dapple the white, wood smoke rising through the trees. A place to relax through all the seasons.
Rarely can you feel so secluded from the rest of the world whilst being a short journey from the city.
The village shop and pub are both great and less than a mile away. There are several other fantastic pubs and restaurants in the nearby villages. We would recommend picking up some supplies, relax and enjoy your surroundings.
  • We loved our secluded weekend! It was easy to find with George and Gemma's illustrated directions. The yurt itself was cosy and warm. The kitchen had everything we needed to prep our meals. Surrounded by woodland, you really feel in the wild... but with shops and a selection of pubs close by means you have the best of both worlds. George and Gemma's eco friendly yurt is also a nice reminder to live a sustainably!

    Lily2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A very lovely and secluded place. Gets you right back with nature. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. And plenty of places to walk too as well

    Antony2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is so lovely, perfect for a little trip away. We went in the poring rain and still have the best time

    Tara2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This yurt was a lot better than I first expected. If you want a trip to get away from everything in the middle of nowhere I would definitely recommend. The kitchen was well equipped, the yurt was really cosy and the walks we had around the woods and the farm were really lovely. Don't hesitate booking because I will be back!

    Emily2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We booked for a night away with our two dogs and 14 year old son. It was everything we had hoped for and more! Loved the little cooking area and the fire pit with log seats. Enjoyed cooking outdoors and sitting below the stars playing games. Our dogs loved exploring and sleeping beside the fire- they are shattered today. We sat around the outdoor table to eat; we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the woods. The yurt was cosy and so so warm; it was relaxing listening to the birds and owls and watching the branches blowing in the wind. The owner left us coffee, milk, sugar and pastries, which we enjoyed in the morning. We would love to visit again for two nights next time.

    Gemma2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for taking my two screen-addicted kids back to basics! Lovely spot and great hosts

    Tim2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

    Annette2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • You will not find a more charming and secluded spot for a romantic woodland get away, as long as you're the type of person that enjoys the outdoor life. The location is an utter delight and you have everything you need to create wonderful memories. We loved every second and will be back here as soon as possible.
