  • Had a great week staying at Filip's cottage. Check-in was super easy and messages were answered almost immediately! The water was so relaxing and extra clean and the canoe was so fun to paddle around in. As for the cottage, it had everything we needed including coffee and shower supplies and the beds were super comfy too. My dog also had a great time as there was plenty of space for her to run around and swim :) All in all a great vacation! Would definitely recommend :)

  • Great place and location. Be aware that the beach spot is shared with an other unit

    Julien2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is clean and Filip responds quickly with any inquiries. We were looking for a quiet time away and we got that, even with the shared private beach section. The area is beautiful. We went up to canoe and this river is excellent for that. Fishing from the canoe was also excellent. Had lovely misty mornings on the dock enjoying our coffee. Lots to explore in the area: hikes, rapids, historical sites and places with great food and atmosphere. We would go back.

  • The cabin is so cute and Iza was super helpful and friendly the whole weekend! Very peaceful and everything was clean and easy to find. We also love Mishu the dog for being the goodest boy/best host ever. “The highlight of my trip was when I was reading on the dock and Mishu came to read with me” -Friend

  • We had a great time at Filip’s cottage - It was clean and comfortable. He is very accommodating and provided us with all the necessary amenities. Plus the location is very convenient because it’s close to grocery stores etc and only 1 hour away from Algonquin. Exactly what we were looking for :)

  • Beautiful area surrounded by water. Great cottage, affordable. Clean too. Clean fridge, and lots of coffee there. (thanks Filip!). The hosts reply very quickly which was great. They also allowed us to leave the garbage for the cleaners, due to being on motorcycles, we appreciate that very much. The space heater provided warmed the place up with ease on chilly nights, although we could have used a few more blankets (luckily, we had a family member run some over - I used to live in this area and am surrounded by family). Filip did offer to have us purchase another space heater (when I arrived, I was concerned that we'd be chilly at bedtime), and would etransfer the cost back immediately, but we found that the heater there did the job. More blankets were definitely needed though. We rode in on motorcycles, so we brought limited supplies of course, and because of ad description, we didn't think to bring an extra blanket each. Great pillows and cozy mattresses - but sofa bed was comically un-even - put the mattress on the floor and you'll sleep great (so my pals said). We had a great stay, will re-book many more times. Thanks!

  • Me, my significant other, a friend and my fur baby stayed at Filip's place for 3 nights. We actually had another airbnb double book us and we were in need for a place. We spoke with Izabela and she was very responsive and got us to stay at their cabin on the lake that evening! The place was great! She had an easy check in process and the place was exactly as described. We never met them but we met the neighbours and the people staying in the main cabin. Everyone was so friendly. Our dog was off-leash all week and made friends with the neighbours dogs and it was all so great. There was a fair number of children from the main cabin and they just loved our doggy. They played with her and helped us with the kayak etc... Max was a special boy! The place was clean and the beds were comfortable! We were able to store our food in their fridge and cook all our meals. We spent time at the lake as well as in the cabin playing card games! It was a great trip and we will be back again shortly! Thank you for accommodating us! :)

  • Filip and Izabela were accommodating hosts, answering all our questions promptly and providing tips regarding local sightseeing. The property and area is beautiful and I would love to go again someday. Highly recommend!

  • Cool little town i was there in the winter and was there for work so didnt explore the property too much but it was a beautiful spot. 5 mins from a small town and a good restaurant. Views were great in the winter. You access the hot tub through the main house. Cell service but no wifi in the guest sweet. Zach was very accommodating though.

  • Very nice place, very updated and clean

    Travis2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is great. But check out time is 10 am which is a bit earlier than what we expected. Also the cleaner required us to take our garbage with us which was unexpected. There was no trash bin nearby and we had to carry the garbage bag to the town to throw it. I don't know if this is normal. However, the cottage is so nice that I still gave a 5 star. The host is nice as well!

  • Amazing place to stay at! Very cozy! Love the view of the water! Spacious and clean!

    Dana2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and spacious place. Very quick to respond to any questions. Would definitely rent again.

    Matt2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen's cottage was exactly how she describes it. Very private and peaceful. Cottage was the cleanest rental I've ever visited. She has everything you forgot to bring handy in her kitchen. Beautiful Screened In Porch!!!!! Close to town so that was a bonus as well.

    Shawn2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful, new and well equipped. All the modern conveniences such as a dishwasher and air conditioning with the beauty of being waterfront. The screened in porch was amazing and allowed you to be outside despite weather or bugs. The television had access to many movies for you to enjoy at night or on a rainy day. The waterfront was clean and had safe and easy access with both stairs and a ladder. The swimming was excellent and even had a nice hard packed sand section in the water for kids to enjoy.

    Jennifer2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • I don’t think you will find a better cottage on Airbnb at its price point. Located on the footsteps of Algonquin park on the Madawaska river this cottage is the true cottaging experience. This cottage is quite secluded even though there are neighbours on both sides. It’s situated on a large property with lots of room for outdoor activity. It has an awesome dock with even better swimming. The bottom is sand for the most part and almost entirely weed free. We spent our day time hours in the water and our nights sitting out by the fire. When it was raining we were still able to get some fresh air in the screened in porch. The cottage itself was sparkling clean and new. The beds were comfortable and the appliances were all in good order. Kristen was a very communicative and honest host. It was a pleasure dealing with her.

    Noah2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, clean, modern cottage in a gorgeous, family friendly riverside community! The house has a great, simple layout, with everything you'll need to enjoy your stay. The screened in porch was our favourite part, considering the bugs are particularly bad this year. It allowed us to enjoy being outside, without any of the bites! We spent most of our days on the dock, enjoying the clean water, and sandy shores. Both of our kids (aged 2.5 and 1) were able to spend hours in and out of the water, as the dock, and entire property is very kid friendly.

  • Thanks for the friendliness and the facility. As I had very little time, and used the "nest" only as a place to sleep-over while I attended a function at a nearby lake, I missed seeing most of the features of this property. It looks like the area would be great for a family looking for a quiet place to rest. Thanks for letting me share your home.

  • host was very welcoming on arrival. He was not constantly intruding on us but whenever we saw eachother he would strike up a conversation and also would communicate if we needed to simply ask. He's a nice guy, loved the place!

  • Such a nice place to stay, in a peaceful and beautiful situation ! Aniela and Greg were very kind ! Thanks to us, we enjoyed the canoe on the lake, and eating a BBQ with an amazing view. • We had such a great stay in Cynthias place. Such a beautiful spot to relax, clean and cozy. Would certainly stay again if in the area.

    Nathaniel2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage very close to Algonquin. I would definitely recommend!

    Chrizelle2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia's cottage is exactly what it's described as: A rustic cabin on the lake front. And that's just perfect. Everything you might need for a quiet weekend at the lake is there, two beds, a bathroom with a shower, a kitchen with everything you need to prepare dinner, an indoor fireplace, firepit, BBQ, even a stand up paddle boat. The location is absolutely beautiful and if you need some time out of the city and just sit at the lake watching the stars this is the right place to be. A Grocery store can be reached by car in like ten minutes in case you forgot to bring the steaks for the BBQ. Also Algonquin Park with all its trails is close by, although the countryside around the cottage is just as nice. I'd definitely come again!

    Nikolas2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Johnny and Cynthia We very much enjoyed our stay at your quaint cottage. Sitting out on the deck overlooking the water was so peaceful and serene. An evening bonfire was a wonderful way to end each day. We enjoyed our BBQ's and meals outside along with hearing the birds sing and the loons calling out. Johnny your tomatoes from the garden were so delicious...made for great BLTs. It's a great location as we were able to explore going to some of the surrounding lakes and of course nearby Algonquin Park. We had originally booked for 3 nights...after we spent a few days there...we were having so much fun... we extended our stay for another couple of nights.

Cozy luxury in the deep Canadian wild nature. Hikers paradise with lots of trails leading to breathtaking lookouts. Dock and water access is in a quiet and private little cove on the lake where you can disappear for hours. All the amenities close by.
On Halfway Lake (aka Long Lake), we are located 10 minutes south of Barry's Bay, Ontario, a popular and well-known Madawaska Valley destination. We are in the Kaszuby region of the Valley, the first Polish settlement in Canada. The cottage is secluded, surrounded by forest from the south, east, west, and Halfway Lake to the north. We guarantee you will enjoy unspoiled stargazing, stunning sunrises, and relax to the wind and loon calls. A beautifully appointed two bedroom cottage. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed which overlooks the lake -- catch a beautiful sunrise! Second bedroom has a double and single bunk-bed. Warm wood floors and walls, that get warmer using the big wood stove in the living room. Full modern media amenities including LCD TV, DVD player, and iPod capable speaker system with subwoofer. Comfy couches make it easy to relax or entertain, there is also an oversized European-style sofa-bed. Full kitchen with a table, large stove and fridge, plenty of cupboard space. Bathroom features large glass shower, soaker bathtub, modern sink and a washer + dryer -- you'll love the heated tile floors in the morning! Large BBQ on the covered back deck; front deck has a stunning view of Halfway Lake. We have a fire pit so you can enjoy an evening fire and do some star gazing. There is swimming off the large dock on Halfway Lake, or there are many beautiful beaches nearby. You can trek the numerous trails off Channonhouse Road and Old Barry's Bay Road for hiking, walking, snowmobiling, or cross-country skiing. Down-hill skiing is less than 5 minutes away. Personal recommendation: Visit the Barry's Bay Dairy (aka The Greasy Spoon) for Breakfast one morning (though they make great Lunch and Dinner too!) for some classic diner cooking -- a local legend! We hope that you will come and enjoy one of our favourite parts of Canada!

A big tent with a bed and a wood stove. This yurt has kept people cozy year-round for a decade. Daytrip to Algonquin Park, visit the Opeongo Hills Nordic Ski Club, check out local artisans or the historic Wilno Tavern. Fall asleep to the sound of the wind, wake to the sound of birds. It's self-check-in but please let us know when you plan to arrive and if you'd like a fire started for you. Phone messages and messages through the app may not get a quick response so text if you need us right away
We've lost track of how many travelers have experienced and loved this yurt. Staying here is a very relaxing experience, ideal for those wanting simple but comfortable accommodations. It's like camping but in a big, round, warm tent with a comfy bed! All communication must be through text during your stay and not through the airbnb app, email or phone call. Communication in advance of your stay, and that is not time sensitive, can happen through the airbnb website or app. Thanks for your cooperation.
There are quiet dirt roads where you can meander past lakes and meadows, just 1km away. Or, Wadsworth Beach is only 2km away. It's a very pretty and relaxing spot. Great for families or outdoor enthusiasts. There is another dwelling on the property where other guests may be staying.
  • Natalie made the stay at the yurt the easiest part of the trip. Was a super host. Private location and as expected.

    Mark2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie's place is the only AirB&B I've stayed at more than once! We love it! We are definitely hoping to return again next year. Highly recommend this yurt for a unique stay about 35 minutes away from Algonquin Park!

    Kelly2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tis was a beautiful, isolated, romantic weeekend away. We chose a great time to go (mid October) as the trees were changing and the weather was getting cooler which made the Yurt that much cosier. Everything was exactaly as described on the site. Everything about our stay was an absolute treat. Beautiful paths and scenery as we explored the recommended nearby trails. Everything we could’ve needed was thought of and made accessible to us. Natalie was extremely welcoming, accommodating, and communicative. Highly reccomend!

    Bailey2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie provided me with a fantastic stay and a warm fire on my way out to Algonquin. The yurt is cosy and offers everything you need for ab overnight stay in the woods

    Andy2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect if you want a cosy experience away from the city. We used the yurt as our base and went hiking in Algonquin park every day of our stay. Especially loved the wood stove that heats the yurt and the yurt opens to a big backyard with trees!

  • MaryLou and Joe’s tiny house was a wonderful place to spend a night, very clean and cozy. We stayed on the ground floor on the king trundle bed and were very comfortable. It was quite cold outside but we were toasty warm. We found everything we could ever need in the kitchen including some amazing coffee! We would definitely stay here again.

  • The Reeves were the cutest hosts and did everything to make our stay good. The cabin is absolutely nice with a lot of space and details. Next time I would stay here longer than a weekend. We also used the canoe and kayak which was really nice on the beautiful lake.

    Christopher2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing property. Our family have been coming every year for three years now and our time spent keeps getting better. The cottage is amazing and we feel very comfortable there. Thanks again. See you next year!!

    Jessica2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic as all get out there on Negeek Lake! Authentic '50's vibe - original pine interior, yellow arborite counters with the aluminum edging, great duck pictures in all the rooms. The funky wooden interior door latches are superb! A great napping sofa with a fine sunset view. (Not that there was much napping time, but hey!) The junior members (ages 7 & 4) of our gang liked the bunk-beds, making for daytime hideaways with some draped blankies, and really liked the clamshell collection down at the end of the dock - diving to retrieve them was a new achievement for one, freeform swimming for the other. The paddleboat was missing its rudder but otherwise made a terrific pirate ship! The canoe and kayak got daily use. We lacked nothing by way of facilities/amenities really, although being a 15 minute drive from our locals' residence allowed for retrieval of a few bits of added accessories. Wondered just a bit if the plus-sized wine glasses were intentionally supplied to hold a half-bottle each, but, well, you know! Thanks to Mad Valley Fire Dept. for adjusting the fire ban to allow for the marshmallow campfires and special thanks to our gracious host's family for the warm welcome when we arrived. All the best, Mati, Elis, Alex, Geth, Glenn, and Peggy.

  • What an incredible place to unwind and enjoy Ontario’s natural beauty! The cottage was cozy and exactly how you’d want a cottage to feel and look. Our family had a fantastic week and honestly we didn’t want to leave. We would go back in a heartbeat! Thank you, Christine and family, for sharing a piece of heaven with us!

The beachfront lakeview was beautiful!! Amazing sunsets! You can walk out in the water so far and it’s all sand and only up to your waist. The canoe was a great bonus. • We just spent 3 days, Thanksgiving weekend at Nageek Lake cottage.....WOW!! Staying in Christine’s cottage was a unique and beyond our expectations experience. Our group of 8 people loved it and enjoyed every minute of this stay. The cottage is snuggled in the trees and is right on the sandy shore of Negeek Lake and the Madawaska River. This cottage is fully equipped and has everything and much more that you need. The cottage is very specious, with a lot of natural light. The view from the cottage and the scenery is just breathtaking. It has 3 bedrooms with double beds, an open concept common area with wood fireplace, a dining area and bathroom. The kitchen is large and very well equipped. There was plenty of room for all of us. There is an easy access to the lake. There is a fire pit with wood, satellite TV, BBQ, a canoe, kayak and a paddle boat. The linens, well equipped kitchen and bathroom including washer and dryer, wood for the fire pit and life jackets are provided by the hosts. Everything was just as advertised😊. From the start, it was a pleasure to deal with the host, Christine as well as Christine’s parents. Super friendly and responsive hosts. Everything was very well maintained, organized, and the cottage was spotless upon our arrival. It had all the comforts of home…..away from home :) Thank you Christine and the family😊😊😉 for the memorable stay. I can most certainly recommend Nageek Lake cottage for your next weekend gateway or family vacation and 100% guarantee that you won’t be disappointed. So, if you are looking for a great place to relax, don’t wait any longer just pack your bags, there is nothing more than close and food you need when staying at Christine’s cottage!!! This is unquestionably a place we plan on returning to!!!

  • Our group of 6 adults thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay here! There was plenty of room for all of us both inside the property and outdoors. The woodwork inside the cottage was beautiful and everything we needed was there, including the outdoor BBQ and firewood for marshmallow smores. We enjoyed canoeing and fishing. The shallow water near the dock would be great for kids, families and nervous non-swimmers. The indoor fireplace really warmed up the space at night. I would definitely return!

    Jan2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is so spacious and comfortable with a large kitchen equipped with more than what you need. The wood stove keeps the place very warm on chilly nights. Cabin was so clean, cute and had everything you’d need. If you plan on cooking Janet offered to bring over any spices or oils you might need - she was so hospitable and friendly! Would definitely recommend for a couple or single. Perfect size. Lots of waterside seating available as-well. The lake is one of my favorites in Barry’s bay - huge with breathtaking views. • Amazing cottage with all the touches to make the week everything we could have wanted. From booking to checking in, Andrew was great to work with. The cottage provided a great week of R&R, from early morning coffees on the dock to many miles explored in the kayaks. Truly a great place :)

    Cindy2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We could have been more happier with our week vacation! The cottage had ton of space, and was squeaky clean when we arrived! The cottage was perfect for families while providing also some quiet time spaces to relax and unwind. The kayaks were so much and our family had an amazing time exploring with them on the lake! The beach (located 5 min walk away) was amazing! One of the best beaches we have been too in cottage country! We look forward to staying with them again and making more memories!!!

    Jodi2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage and property are beautiful. Large, roomy, clean, cozy cottage that has everything you need in it! A relaxing Muskoka Room with oversized furniture that is a great place to sit and sip your morning coffee. Quiet water front with very little water traffic. Quiet area, safe area. Nice public beach down the road. Andrew and Katie were wonderful hosts. It was worth every penny!!

    Lianne2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • From the very beginning of the process Andrew and Katie were amazing to deal with! Always responded quickly to any communication and eager to offer their help and advice (even going above and beyond by helping us get a gate set up for our dogs!!) We were pleased with the cottage...had a very welcoming atmosphere, clean and lots of room to put our belongings. The lake and area was quiet which we enjoyed yet lots of things to do close by like the beach down the road! We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful gateway:)

    Amanda2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew’s place is WONDERFUL. It’s exactly what you expect for a cottage in October. Check in is easy, and he communicates well and in a timely manner to any questions you may have. The cottage is just that - a cottage :). Warm and cozy with a fire, beautiful views, comfortable beds, and rustic charm. The cottage was clean when we arrived and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking (and they provided some coffee!). They even left us a little treat for our girls weekend! Andrew’s communication is perfected. In the days leading up to check in, he sends all the information you’ll need - everything from bbq to bed linen details. We had a very minor issue with water pressure upon arrival and Andrew had his property manager over immediately to assist. We went for a beautiful hike really close by, took lots of beautiful fall photos, had an outdoor bonfire, and even dipped our feet in the lake (brrr). And the dogs had even more fun then we did. It was such a wonderful weekend, hard to capture it all. It’s a perfect spot if you can roll up your sleeves and build your own fires. Beautiful cottage, fantastic host, everything we needed :). Thank you Andrew! We can’t wait to book it again!

It's away from the water and visible from the cottage.
Want to get out on the river? A 14 foot aluminum boat is at your disposal, along with a paddle boat available to rent for a minimal fee. Maybe you'll go over to one of the 2 nearby islands and have a picnic, or perhaps you'd like to catch some fish for a meal! This location gives you access to over 90 km of waterways with beautiful scenery, great fishing and boating. Also, the 100 feet of natural shoreline has a sandy bottom with a gradual slope, so you have peace of mind when the kids are in the water. Feel free to bring your own watercraft. Our 30+ foot dock is at your disposal, and a boat launch is only 5 minutes away. In addition, boat and motor rentals are available just across the lake.
  • This was our first family trip with our 2 kids, and what an experience it was! The sunsets, the fishing, the sand and the memories... you can't ask for a better location to just sit back and relax. Everything you need is right at your fingertips, and there was tons of scenic destinations to go on little day excursions. Kim and her husband are the most accomodating couple you could ask for, made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Can't wait to come back next year!

If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet place to visit, rest your busy mind and spirit than look no further. Purchased in late 2018, this 64 acre property was one of the first homestead farms in the Madawaska Valley. Still featuring the original buildings, which include 2 adorable barns and a house, this historically significant property is a nature lovers dream come true. The is house 2 stories , the beds are all located in the open concept loft.
This is not the ideal location for a large group or event. Our septic is small and we are trying to keep our footprint small. We have been doing renovations and updates on the property to make it cozy and warm. There are a lot of puzzles, games, books and cd's available for your enjoyment. This is not a hotel, and so the expectation of the accommodation should be realistic. It is a rustic, 150 year old farmhouse! Because there is no one living on the property full-time, you may notice when you arrive a little dust or a dead fly in a windowsill. Some previous guests had commented about this, which I thought was pretty obvious in a cottage or house that is not occupied. So although the house has been professionally cleaned prior to your arrival, if it has been several days or a week there is a possibility of dust. We do our best to keep it clean, but I'd also prefer you to have a realistic expectation of the space. Because no one lives here, we ask that you take your garbage with you when you leave. There is a compost bin to the left (facing the road) of the driveway, along the fence about 50 metres that we would love for you to use. The property has trails running throughout where you can see the local wildlife, foliage, birdwatch and reconnect with nature. There are 40 acres of totally uncharted land that we have just begun to discover, so if you feel like being a trailblazer and being totally alone in the wilderness it all yours to discover!! We have seen evidence of a bear (scat) near the western apple tree during the fall so don't forget that this is nature at its best. There are plenty of animals in the forest. In order to see them you need to be incredibly quiet but in order to avoid them you need to make noise. I recommend in the late summer and fall to be wary and make some noise to avoid a confrontation.
Combermere is a super high-vibration area. We are 50metres from the Madawaska River/Negeek Lake, there is a boat launch in town. The Madawaska River is the ideal place for your water sports - canoe, kayak, whitewater rafting can be done through Madawaska Kanu, the outfitters in nearby Barry's Bay, or accessed from Palmer Rapids. Combermere is a tiny village with an amazing Restaurant called Heartwood, a beach bar called the Bent Anchor, a great Laundromat that is also a bakery cafe with gluten free and vegan options, a cute antique store and a general store. It is also home to one of the best farmers markets in the entire valley on Saturday mornings where you can get all of your fruits, veggies, baked goods, meats, art and other amazing products. There is also one of the worlds only rose quartz mines (Aqua Rose Quarry), about a 10 minute drive away where you can go and pick your own or purchase directly. There are caves, hikes, and amazing scenic drives if you are a cyclist or just love driving. We have started putting together a directory of all of the amazing things to explore in this mineral rich, magical area of the country.
  • We had a great stay at Lisa's place. The property is located a decent distance from other properties so there was lots of space for our dog to explore. It's obviously fairly rustic but the only thing we were missing (or that we couldn't find at least) was a frying pan to do some eggs, everything else we needed was there and there was a grill and fire pit available. The main bed was really comfortable, as was the living room furniture. We arrived late so it was good to be able to just use the lock box to get the key, and Lisa was very quick at replying to messages both during the booking process and when we were there.

This lovely home is clean and comfortable for your vacation with a recently renovated basement. It is steps to downtown shops, restaurants, and groceries in one direction; and to the beach, boat launch, and church in the other. There is a BBQ in the large, shaded backyard along with a picnic table and chairs.
The interior is very cozy with a full kitchen both upstairs and down. There are six twin beds in three bedrooms plus a pullout couch that could sleep two more. The living area has hardwood and the bedrooms have laminate flooring to by hypoallergenic.
The street is very quiet. Barry’s Bay is quite small so you can walk everywhere within the town, including to the water. The lake is small so the water gets very warm. Algonquin Park is a 20 minute drive away with some of the best hiking in the province.
  • We had a truly amazing stay! Barry’s Bay is an adorable town that’s very visitor friendly. The lake near the house is stunning. I highly recommend sunset or sunrise. The house has many thoughtful touches that make you feel at home. Very cosy and clean! The hosts are very helpful and gave us great recommendations.

  • Wonderful stay at Liam's place. Quiet. Not far from Algonquin Park and many lakes. Close to all amenities.

    Juliana2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Barry's Bay, at Liam's. There is what we expect: the beauty of the scenery a few miles from Algonquin Park. And what we discover: the Polish imprint of places and especially the very nice home of Liam and his family. The accommodation is rustic but warm, full of testimonials from people who have lived here.

    Laurence2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottge is exactly as described. We only used the upper floor with kitchen and bathroom and living area and our total stay was 3 days. We appreciated the wifi and the location in Barrys Bay on a quiet street with parking and wifi and cooking facilities which served us for our short stay. Although the cottage does not have airconditioning there are ceiling fans and we did not feel the heat during our stay in perfect summer weather we enjoyed during our stay. The lake which is close by has a lovely swimming beach. We wish we had more time to enjoy this lovely area. Liam was excellent with communication and available to answer questions. Thank you so much.

  • Our family had a great time. The home was comfy, clean and had all the amenities required for a quick trip. We arrived later than expected and spent most of the day white water rafting, so really spent one night here. But we loved the experience and have nothing to complain about! The host, Liam, was thoughtful and kept us informed of his availability and facilities. He was helpful and accommodated our delay in reaching and our request to check out later. This was my first experience with airb&b and loved the feeling of a home stay much more than hotels! We also met Liam's cutest little daughter !

The pod is 10x10 feet of beautiful Algonquin pine. It has lights and electrical outlets for charging your phones and laptops. The french doors open wide and a sliding screen door comes across when you want to lay in bed and enjoy the stars in the north sky. Flycatchers and hummingbirds are right outside visiting the flowers. The window at the back of the POD allows a refreshing breeze on a warm summer night. The screened gazebo is comfortable with a wraparound view of the pond and outdoors.
Sleeping in the pod is "glamping" in style. With a double bed and memory foam mattress you will feel much more comfortable than in a tent yet still get that sense of sleeping out in the wilds of Algonquin. Moose, bear, lynx, pine martin, snow shoe hares, turtles and foxes live right around us and if you are lucky you will spot one coming to the pond or traveling past. Nothing to worry about with these beautiful animals. They avoid us humans and go about their business of eating and raising families. Coming to the trees and pond are numerous birds including kingfisher, ducks, olive vested flycatcher, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, chickadees and blue jays. With the sound of the breeze in the trees, the warmth of the sunshine and the knowledge that all this wildlife is healthy and thriving nearby, you can't help but feel peaceful and one with nature. The pod has two side tables, an arm chair and a bench. There are two wall outlets and a power bar so you can charge your phones and plug in your laptop. WIFI is available but this is the country so it isn't always the best - I recommend bringing a book :) It also has a tiny mini fridge that can hold six beverage cans and/or milk and cream. There is a keurig coffee maker in the pod so you can enjoy your morning coffee before you head out on the trails or launch your canoe in one of the many lakes nearby or in Algonquin Park. You are welcome to bring your own keurig coffee pods. We offer complimentary coffee and tea each day. Cream and milk are provided just let me know. Algonquin Park is only a few minutes away. A car is needed to get there. We provide the $18 day pass, at no charge, which allows you entry into all the campground beaches, trails, the Visitor Centre and Logging Museum. WIFI is available but living in the country means slower speed . Often it depends on the weather and time of day when useage increases with the server. Cell phone service can be unreliable but most of the time works. You can use my house phone if necessary. We provide complementary BUGGED - an all natural bug repellent we make here. You can read about it at www.greathealing.ca. We want you to have a great time here and, for a few weeks in June, black flies and mosquitoes are having the time of their lives :)) Our bug repellent is proven to be effective and it feels and smells great!!
We are situated on four acres surrounded by crown land in a quiet country setting without neighbors close by. There is a natural pond that attracts lots of birds and wildlife you can watch from the screened gazebo. At the corner of the property is a 5 km winding dirt road that goes past a marsh and wetland lake. We offer mountain bikes to explore the area. McCoy Lake is clean and beautiful for swimming. This small springfed lake is one km south and has good bass fishing with an area to launch a canoe. The town of Whitney is 8 km away and has three restaurants, a french fries stand, two gas stations - one with a mechanic - grocery store, liquor store, post office, gift shop and an outfitters store for canoe/kayak rentals plus any outdoor supplies and clothing you may need. Whitney also has a sandy swimming beach right in the town. The East Gate entrance to the park is just a few minutes north of Whitney about 15 minutes from the POD.
  • Had a great stay at the Healing Pod. The weather was not great, but that just meant we got to spend our day relaxing, reading a book in the gazebo, catching a lazy nap in the pod. Everything we needed was available to us and we had just a lovely time. Would definitely come back again.

    Chris2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne has created a wonderful place, where you can enjoy the nature, the wildlife and get know the alqonquin park.

    Ann-Josephine2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne is an amazing host! She’s extremely thoughtful and prepares everything you need! The space itself is extremely “homey” and private. The pod is clean and has ample lighting. The outdoor washroom is clean and Joanne provides face and body towels for you. The gazebo is a great space to relax and prep your food in. Joanne was also nice enough to prepare a fire for us at night! 12/10 recommend staying at the healing pod!

    Jamie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne is probably the most organized and friendly host I have ever encountered. Prepare to have a pleasant, beautiful and calming stay at a remarkable place with lots of nature around you. There are even cute chipmunks in the garden.

  • This place is extraordinary and wonderful to visit the endless nature of Algonquin Park. Joanne is the perfect host.

  • I had a great long weekend at the pod. I highly recommend staying here! Gorgeous place, so peaceful!

    Meganne2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really lovely house, even much more beautiful than the pictures. It is surrounded with purple flowers, which makes this place looks like just in fairy tale world. My girlfriend likes it so much. And the host is really helpful! Great communication! We will absolutely come again!

    Ethan(YuChen)2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Unique nature retreat. Both charming and rustic but not too rustic. A great way to unplug and be really close to all Algonquin has to offer but without having to set up a tent. Joanne is a wonderful host.

  • Very clean, cute little cabin. No electricity but easy enough to see around and play games with some flashlights and lanterns. Lots of nice little touches. No issues getting in with a smaller car, the long driveway was well plowed. Nice and warm with the furnace and the location is beautiful on a secluded property with a great view. Would definitely stay there again!

  • This is a lovely, secluded cabin that provides the opportunity for a restful vacation. It comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The cabin is on a beautiful property with a great view. If you’re planning on heading there in the winter, I strongly recommend a 4x4 or vehicle with good winter tires. The cabin is off the main highway, so the drive can be challenging in the snow.

  • Bring your favorite book, cozy cloths, lots of simple meals and snacks and there’s nothing else you’ll need for a week! If you love the outdoors, are water conscience, and not afraid of peace and quiet you’ll love this little cabin in the hills. Kathy is a considerate host and has thought of many details to make your stay simple and clean. Visit in all seasons and enjoy the impressive view from a great covered porch. If a little dirt under your nails doesn’t ruin your day, settle in and enjoy letting time go by!

The place is sparkling clean; the bedrooms are quite spacious, the decoration is classy and well coordinated. Vic and Eileen are super generous. We're allowed to check in early and check out late. Highly recommended.

    Nicole2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • 10 out of 10. Would go back next year. Beautiful back yard on the lake. I caught a few rainbow trout

    Sooriya2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Good communication with Greg, responsive and predicting! Large lakefront cottage ideally located for a week by the lake and the Algonquin Park!

  • A great cottage with gorgeous views of the lake, and a quick drive into Barry's Bay for any supplies you may need. We really enjoyed our stay here!

    Christian2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Greg and Dawn were very generous and accommodating hosts, allowing us to invite extra guests, change dates and check-in early. The property is even nicer than it looks in person and you'll find additional amenities like canoes and an additonal bed and small cabin by the dock. There are also nice hiking trails a short walk away, for those who enjoy that sort of thing. We had an amazing time and hope to be able to come again in the future. 100% recommend.

  • Wife and I just returned from our 3 day stay. Loved the cottage. Very comfortable and spacious. Location and property are amazing. Great value. Will be back for sure!

    Shaun2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great space! 6 of us stayed at Greg’s cottage and had a fantastic time. We got good use out of the canoe, fire pit and BBQ, the yard is beautiful and all the rooms were spacious. There are also two bathrooms which was a nice touch.

Covid 19 update: Throughout this time we will still remain renting out our slice of heaven. We have taken extra steps with our cleaning procedure, and at this time, we will only be cleaning ourselves. It was recommended to wait 24 hours, although we are blocking off 3 days before and after all bookings for this time. Please contact us for more details. Our slice of heaven on Fraser lake is our home away from home. Something about it is so comforting. Kate and Matt Jensen
Our place is only 45 minutes from Algonquin Park. But we are sure you’ll get all the peace and tranquility you will need at the cottage. It is beautiful in all seasons. It has a gas fireplace for heat which works great as it is mostly open concept. We are located 3 hours from Toronto and 2 hours and 20 minutes from Ottawa. We have a paddleboat, canoes and kayaks you can use as well! Lifejackets (although child and infant lifejackets are limited so if you have one you are encouraged to bring it) and water toys in the bunkie as well. As a heads up we are pet friendly and do have a couple of doggies who we share the cottage with also so if you have allergies please be aware and prepared with allergy medication. We truly try our best to keep the space as pet hair free as possible. Quiet hours are from 10pm- 8am. Please note that any complaints from neighbors for loud behavior during quiet hours will result in being asked to vacate the cottage immediately. No extra guests are able to be in the cottage at any time or overnight and if this happens will result in extra charges. Bed info: Full bed in master bedroom, queen bed in second bedroom, third bedroom bunk beds (full on bottom, single on top), pull out couch and love seat in living room. Bunkie(considered 4th bedroom): Pull out couch and bunk beds in bunkie (bunkie is not heated). There are no comforters on the beds of the bunkie. All beds have sheets. Extra pillows available, 2 sleeping bags/ blankets available for pull out couches. Stays longer than 14 nights can usually be accommodated - please inquire. Ice fishing hut and equipment- extra charge - please inquire.
Bancroft which is 30 minutes away has many beautiful little shops and has everything you need. My personal favorite shop is called the Old Tin Shed, there is also a Canadian Tire, Grocery stores, Hospital, Bancroft Brewing Restaurant, Tim Horton’s, McDonald’s, etc. Also near Algonquin park and Barry's Bay.
  • We had a great stay. The view is awesome, the rooms are clean. We had a great stay.

  • Great spot for a getaway!

    Nicholas2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • They were not kidding when they said a slice of heaven! The space feels like home the minute you step in! Beautiful views from the cottage of the lake, lots of movies to pass the time if you don’t feel like going outside and a few good board games to pass the time. The fire pit and wood was great to have a fire outside in the cold weather. Tried to dig out a rink but there was too much snow. But all in all a great cottage, I’ll be staying again! Be prepared for no cell service.

    Garrett2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage was everything we expected and more. The fireplace was soothing after coming in from ice fishing morning and night. Had everything we needed from the crockpot for pulled pork, coffee maker, griddle for breakfast to the radio to listen to while playing cards at night. We had a great relaxing time and neighbours are very friendly as well.

    Sandi2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Matt and Kate are great hosts with a lovely cottage that has all of the amenities except cell service and wi-fi which is precisely what we wanted. Getting off the grid in a cozy space with a beautiful view is just what the doctor ordered. The cottage has everything you could need with all the small touches. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the fireplace cozy. Just a perfect place to ride out a nasty winter storm like we did. If you are going in the winter, I would advise a 4x4 and good winter tires. We will come back in the summer when the weather is nice and we can enjoy the lake and surrounding area. All in all, I highly recommend this place.

    Caroline2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't make it because our daughter twisted her ankle the day before and we had to go to the hospital and making radios... Kate and Matt were very kind and cared about the cancellation process and compensation. We will for sure go to their home later on!!

    Marie2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place and very nice and responsible hosts. Appreciatr the amazing memories from the lovely cottage.Thank you

    Lin2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin on Lake Fraser is a perfect escape from everyday life. The view of the lake is fantastic, we went during Winter and enjoyed the coziness of space, the fireplace and large selection of movies. All amenities were clean and we were very appreciative to be able to bring our dogs along on the trip. One thing to note is that the nearest town is about 40 minutes away, so do go well prepared with everything you need to stay in place and relax! Cynthia & Brody

Definitely recommend. Robin was a great host, she started a fire for us and checked in to make everything go smoothly.

  • A beautiful view and private cove to swim in. A great place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Robin is a gracious host and generous in sharing her knowledge of the area of Barry’s Bay

    Joy2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The view and the privacy are what make this place special. The water access would be especially good for children. Classic cottage vibes inside, no frills but entirely adequate.

    Jamie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a weekend away with friends at this cottage, and the pictures do not do it justice. The view is absolutely incredible from every angle. The sandy waterfront was great for spending all day in the water. The cottage itself was clean and has everything you need, although you probably won’t want to spend any time inside with the amazing scenery outside. Thank you for a great stay!

    Brittany2019-08-25T00:00:00Z

We had a lot of snow and freezing rain the weekend we stayed, one of our cars got stuck going up the driveway but Urszula came right away with supplies when we called to help get the car unstuck. Thanks Urszula! We hope to visit again soon!
