Places to stay in East Stoke
A truly amazing floating tree house set in a spectacular private location in beautiful Dorset countryside. Tastefully decorated with everything you need for a cosy, romantic break. Mains power, heating, stereo, hot and cold water, outdoor toilet and showers. A basic kitchen with a double hob, and everything you need, a fire-pit, BBQ and a bed with far reaching views. Simply an incredible and unique space for a romantic getaway. You will need to bring bedding, towels, and charcoal.
Built in the trees on top of a bank with a great view. Peaceful, purposefully basic, but has everything you actually need, to have a cosy romantic time. We have uninstalled wifi so you can actually enjoy talking to each other and listening to music on the sound system, being in nature and de-stressing. Feel free to walk around the site and see deer and great woodland to enjoy. You are only 2 minutes drive away from shops and great pubs if you need anything. Please be aware the toilet is situated just outside of the Treehouse.
Beautiful, sunny Bournemouth is only a 20-minute drive away, Poole is only 10 minutes. There are plentiful walks and country pubs nearby to choose from, and we’re only 20 minutes from the scenic Jurassic coast. Monkey World is only 20 minutes away, which is a MUST! Our unique field is a great base that's within easy reach of numerous things to see and do.
  • Great stay! Was surprised to see other kinds of accommodation! Will definitely be back to try out something else! The double decker bus looks amazing! The only bad thing I can say is that the weather wasn’t great but we had everything we needed inside so didn’t dampen things to much!

  • Amazing stay! Me and my girlfriend came for her surprise birthday. The tree house just looks incredible as you park the car. And it is just like a Tardis. 'Bigger on the inside' with a working sink, fridge, working radio and heaters it was a cozy night in when the rain was pouring outside. There are plenty of board games to keep you busy and even chairs and tables outside. The site also has toilets and showers! Would recommend to anyone wanting a unique stay or a weekend away.

  • Highly recommend this place for a lovely romantic getaway! The structure is really cool and surprisingly spacious, the pictures dont do it justice! Everything you could need for a night and the space was really cosy. I was worried it would be cold as we went in January but there is a heater which does a great job at warming the space up. The space is nice and private and there are board games to keep you occupied! Perfect to just switch off. Would deffo reccomend!

A new log cabin built autumn 2015 in its own grounds and completely private, overlooking heathland where horses and cattle roam freely 6 months of the year. It's next to farmland with a fishing lake nearby. Great for walks and enjoying the outdoors. Renting the log cabin is based on two guests sharing, any additional guest pays a complimentary fee.
The log cabin is spacious, cosy and comfortable. The sofa in the lounge also converts to a double bed , so up to 6 people can to stay. The cabin sits in an exclusive paddock of one acre surrounded by field, woods and heathland. It is a haven for wildlife. Guests can enjoy the grounds where there is a trampoline, swings and can also enjoy cooking and eating outdoors. There is also a coarse fishing lake in the adjacent farm.
It's location makes the cabin very unique. Its a rural retreat. No neighbours (except the cows, horses, deer and squirrels!) Great for wild life and being close to nature. Completely secluded with a beautiful view of the grounds. A great escape from the city! The Cross Keys pub, which is within walking distance, offers good food. There is also a good selection of country pubs nearby. There are excellent restaurants, pubs in the towns previously mentioned, as well as theatres and nightlife. We have wonderful beaches in Bournemouth and Poole. Close by, we have Potterns Park in Verwood and Moors Valley Country Park. Great for outdoor activities with the family and friends.
  • The cabin is perfect for some time out of the big smoke! I stayed there with 5 friends and we had a lovely time . The cabin is clean , outside areas spacious , lots of parking and space to run around! The cabin itself is perfect for short stays and well equipped ( kitchen stocked and lots of activities for a rainy day) . Perfect welcome by the hosts and flexibility with check out 😊

  • An amazing place. Luisa and Len are incredible hosts. The place is warm and safe. The cabin has everything you would need. They also provided us with bread, milk, cereals and some fabulous eggs. You have the country side and forest outside your door and the sea, 15min away. Totally recommend it.

    Wimborne Minster, Dorset, United Kingdom

This amazing beachfront house on Sandbanks Peninsula is very cool, quirky and spacious. It is suitable for families/friend groups wanting to have fun on the beach/water or explore Dorset. It is one of a handful of properties that has direct access onto the beach at the back, and to Poole Harbour at the front. It has gorgeous views of Brownsea Island, Studland, Old Harry's Rocks and IofW from the house and garden. All rooms (bar bunk rooms) can be made into super kings instead of two singles.
The house is situated on the Sandbanks Peninsula with direct access at the back of the garden onto the beach and to Poole Harbour at the front of the house. The sunsets over the Harbour are completely sublime and have to be seen to be believed. The fantastic firework displays on Poole Quay can be watched from the comfort of the dining room! There are amazing views from every room in the house - and almost has the feeling of being in a boat. It is the ONLY house that is let for holidays on this stretch so it is unique. It is deceptively large (approx 4000 square feet internally) so there is plenty of room for everyone - especially as the lounge and games room allow for two completely separate areas to relax and have fun in. The property also benefits from a huge garden that is approx 50 metres long with amazing views to Old Harry's rocks and the Isle of Wight. There is also parking for 5 cars at the front of the house. This saves on parking charges! Everyone who has visited Sandbanks knows this house - it was the first modern house built on the peninsula when it was still a literal sandbank. It won the house of the year award in 1974 for its innovative architecture - being cantilevered and made of concrete and glass. It is definitely one of a kind! It is a lovely quirky house to have fun in. It has a great fun interior - we call it the "Happy House"! The house is located next door to The Watersports Academy which is fantastic for watersports activities, paddle board, bicycle and boat hire. We host a wide range of guests at the property. These include family/friendship group holidays and celebrations, Bournemouth graduation events and pre-marriage celebrations. We have also hosted business groups for team building activities and meetings. It is a fantastic choice for those visiting Dorset from the UK or abroad (15 minutes from Bournemouth International airport) who wish to explore the beautiful Dorset coast and countryside. The property is the perfect place to start your exploration of beautiful Poole Harbour, Bournemouth beach and Jurassic coast. Bournemouth beach is the only UK beach to be awarded one of the "World's Best" by travellers on Trip Advisor. The beach house is also only 30/40 minutes to Jurassic highlights such as Lulworth cove, Chapman's Pool and Kimmeridge. The house is only 20 minutes from the charming New Forest with its gorgeous country pubs and New Forest ponies. The house offers a holiday that can combine so many different elements that make an amazing and memorable trip with so much to do both at the house and in the surrounding area. The house itself is such a relaxing place to be with beautiful views that many guests do not leave the house and immediate surrounding area for the duration of their stay - so no need to use the car at all! Top Floor - The top floor has five bedrooms. There is one further bedroom and also games room that are used for sleeping accommodation on the ground floor (please see below). Bedroom 1 - is a beautiful large bedroom with the most amazing views of Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. It is really light and spacious room. The bedroom can be set up either as two singles or a superking bed. There are two armchair sofa beds which can be made up as two singles. This room can sleep 4. Bedroom 2 - this room also has wonderful views over the Harbour. It can be made up as two singles or a superking. There is an armchair sofa bed which can be used as a single. This room can sleep 3. Bedroom 3 - this is a bunk bed room which has harbour glimpses. The bunk beds are suitable for adults. This room can sleep 2. Bedroom 4 - this is a very large and light room which has amazing views, both of the harbour to the side of the house and the beach at the back of the house. This room can be set up as two singles or a superking. There are also two arm chair sofa beds that can be used as two singles. This room has an ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower. This room can sleep 4. Bedroom 5- bunk room with views of the harbour. The bunk beds can sleep adults. This is annexed off Bedroom 4 so makes it very suitable for use as a family room or for a group of friends. This room can sleep 2. There is also a well appointed shower room on the top floor. Middle Floor - The middle floor is an amazing open plan living and dining space which is great for entertaining. The living area has a huge, deep sofa which is perfect for reclining on to watch a movie or listen to music. There is a Bang and Olufsen TV system on this floor with Apple TV with access to over 200 films downloaded (mainly children's movies!) Netflix can also be played through this TV. The kitchen and dining room (breakfast bar) are designed to seat a large group. There are two table extensions available in order to seat 20 people at the dining table. It is a wonderful place to sit and watch the sunsets over the harbour which will take your breath away. The kitchen is really well equipped for cooking for large number. There is an electric range oven with 3 ovens and 5 induction rings. There are two fridge freezers, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and Nespresso coffee machine. there is crockery, cutlery and glassware for 22 people. The kitchen has been designed to make things as easy as possible for a relaxing stay. Bottom Floor - The bottom floor has one bedroom Bedroom 6 - this can be set up as two single beds or a superking. It has views of the harbour. It is a very quirky round room. The large private 'games room' has table football, three sofas a TV (with netflix and sega mega drive games console), fridge freezer, stereo system and also decks. There is direct access to the garden through double doors from the games room. It is a fantastic room with amazing graffiti wall art. The two sofa beds can be used to sleep 2/4 people. Two additional floor mattresses can be added to the games room too. The utility room is also on this floor with a shower room and washer and dryer. The house has been designed to have fun for family/friendship groups. It can sleep a maximum of 21 people. If you are more than 16 guests there is a small additional charge over 16 guests - please state the number of people you wish to stay clearly at the point of booking. Garden - The outside space at the back of the house is decked with a large seating area. There is a gas BBQ available for use. The garden has been astro turfed and has a giant sandpit called "shark island" for children (and adults) to have fun in! There is a large storage area which has lots of fun beach/water activities including paddle boards, buckets and spades, balls etc. There is also a Table tennis table in the garden. The garden is secure at the front and back with a locked/coded gate. It is a fabulous location and the interior is completely different to what is expected!! It really is an amazing house that you will find very difficult to leave! Infants - There are two high chairs and travel cots at the property. There is a stair gate for the middle floor. For hosting groups I am happy to help with booking/organising activities at the house. For example - - A "beauty" day can be organised at the house with massage therapists, beauty therapists and hairdressers. This is a fun activity for all women groups who may be planning on going out for the evening! - Pilates / yoga instruction - Live art classes - Outside caterers - Cocktail classes I am also happy to help organise / book activities off site, for example - - Water sports activities - Golf days/lessons - Clay pigeon shooting - Taxi/coach bookings There is so much to do in the house and in the local area! There is ample parking for at least 5/6 cars. EVERYBODY loves it here!
The area is unique as it has access to the water on two sides - Harbour and beach. Sandbanks is probably one of the best known stretches of beach in the UK.
  • The beach house is incredible! We have just returns from an amazing weekend staying here. • We have just returned from a fantastic few days at the beach house. Although the weather was bad we all managed to entertain ourselves with the variety of games etc which were in the games room. It is in a great location with the back gate opening directly onto the beach. This is second time we have stayed there and hope to return again.

  • This property has an outstanding location with the front overlooking the sea with kite surfers, sailers paddleboarders all enjoying themselves. The back is a fantastic sandy beach for everyone to enjoy. Even in January we had a fantastic stay and I’m sure in the summer it’s totally amazing. We thoroughly recommend a stay here.

    Louise2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Beach house is absolutely beautiful and stunning. The rooms are gorgeous, the shared space perfect for large groups. We had lots of adults and children and it worked so well. Needless to say the beach front location is of course perfect. Sarah was brilliant. I would highly recommend her house to everyone!

    Jacky2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Don’t know where to start with how fantastic this stay was. Sarah was informative and helpful from the get-go with quick responses and fantastic recommendations for local business’. The house is absolutely stunning; it was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a weekend away with family and friends. It was clean, tidy and beautifully decorated with Christmas decks! Sarah was so, so helpful when we couldn’t work the swanky TV and was so easy to get into contact with. The views are stunning and being on the beach made it all the much better. Would recommend to anyone and everyone wanting a weekend away with family and we sincerely hope to stay at Sandbanks again!

Acton Studio is perfect for walkers as we are on the South West Coast Path, ideal for those wanting to get back to nature and unwind as we are off the beaten track.
Acton Studio is a recently converted compact purbeck stone outbuilding with double bed, wet room and kitchenette with table and stools. The kitchenette has an electric oven, hob, fridge, sink, kettle, toaster and essential kitchen items. Dorset tea, coffee, sugar and milk provided. The studio is located at the bottom of our rear garden, the studio has it's own private garden. There is parking but it is not adjacent to the property. Sit in the enclosed garden on a summer evening after a long hike relaxing with a beer or glass of wine. On a clear night and with no street lights you can gaze up at a sky full of stars.
Acton is a small tranquil hamlet of around forty Purbeck stone cottages with unmade roads throughout. There is two pubs within walking distance. The King's Arms in Langton Matravers (25 minutes) and the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers (30 minutes). The Square and Compass only serves pies and pasties. A couple of minutes in the car and you reach The Scott Arms in Kingston then a little further The Castle Inn and The Greyhound in Corfe Castle. The nearest shop is in Langton Matravers ( a twenty five minute walk) but please check that they are open. There are Coop and Budgen supermarkets in Swanage and lots of smaller shops (a ten minute drive). We are surrounded by fields, some with cows and sheep and we are located on the South West Coast Path incorporating breath-taking views. We are lucky to live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to many rare plants and animals. The Purbeck coastline is part of the ninety-five mile stretch known as the 'Jurassic Coast', named England’s first natural world heritage site in 2002 because of the unique insight it offers into 185 million years of the Earth’s history.
  • Fantastic space, really clean and lovely little touches. Location is great for walks along the Jurassic coast and hosts were very helpful

  • Brilliant location, tucked away in a beautiful old village and really close to great coastal walks. The check in process was really clear, and their suggestion of going to the Square and Compass was spot on - one of the most welcoming and friendly pubs I've been to. We had a magical time here and would highly recommend it! (Also, very comfy and cost bed, which was perfect for a stormy wintry night)

Lake Pier is just up the road and is a beautiful little walk and beach area. Poole Quay is 5 minutes by car and has a large choice of pubs and restaurants as well as a beautiful marina area where you can admire some spectacular locally built Sunseekers. The fabulous purbeck coast is around a 30 minute drive away which includes the beautiful Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Kimmeridge... These areas are well worth a visit...
  • A wonderful and well priced place to stay so close to Poole harbour, with such a high standard of cleanliness and style for a great price. Thoroughly recommend you try it for yourself.

  • Exactly as described and perfect for what I needed (to be near the ferry port). Lizz was really flexible and accomodating of my late arrival time. A perfect little bolt hole!

    Claire2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely space with everything you need, breakfast was included which was a really nice touch! Liz is really nice and welcoming and I would stay again.

    Jade2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful fully self contained unit with living and eating and food preparing space - it’s like your own personal apartment and it is stunning. The extra touches Lizz supplies are so thoughtful. The welcome was amazing, and Lizz’s helpfulness. I can’t wait to return and stay for longer. Huge bonus is on drive parking, and being able to leave car behind and walk into Poole (20 min flat walk). It’s a lovely place and a lovely area to visit. I’d not hesitate in giving Lizz and her Airbnb a 100% positive review.

The Shepherds hut is situated in its own woodland and is off grid. You will be able to take in the beautiful night sky and fall asleep to the tranquil sound of the stream trickling by and our owls twit twooing after a day of walking the coast line and visiting the RSPB at Arne . It has its own small log/coal burner to make it nice and cosy and there is a lovely comfy double bed to relax on. You will also hear the night time noises of our woodland friends -the foxes barking and the deer rutting.
There is no wifi or electricity at the shepherds hut. This is your time away from your devices. The lighting is by lanterns powered by battery. So bring a good torch and some easy to slip on foot wear e.g. flip flops. If the weather forecast is inclement then waterproof foot gear is a good idea eg wellies. Come as if you are camping bringing your bedding (pillows, duvets & bottom sheet or sleeping bag) and wash things including towel. If you are cycling or coming by train or if you would just like us to provide you with bedding then we can happily do this for a small charge. There is a shower and loo in the downstairs of our house with independent access . This is about 100 yards away from the hut through a gate. We very much appreciate it if you can leave the hut as you find it by sweeping it out, clearing the ash from the fire and depositing your rubbish in the appropriately labelled bins by the shower room. We supply the first bucket of coal and kindling for you free of charge if you require any further buckets then there is a small charge of £5.
Once voted by the Guardian as the best place to live in England, Wareham has a great Saturday market every week come rain or shine. There is a farmer's market on the 4th Thursday of the month and a weekly produce market run by the local auctioneers. There is also an urban farm shop called the Salt Pig and two supermarkets the Co-op and Sainsbury's.
  • We were so happy to have found this place. Everything we needed for a cosy get away. Claire couldn't have helped enough. Lovely warm welcome and yummy breakfast ingredients too. Thank you!

    Kat2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner stayed at this delightful Sheppard's hut during the weekend of storm Dennis. Let me clear any doubt you might have about this place being cold, small or unsafe - we left thinking "was there even a storm?" The burner was so effective we found ourselves opening the windows to let heat out. During a storm. Trust me you won't be cold. For the size of the hut it feels like every inch has been taken into account to make it as useful as possible while still being presented as uncluttered or tight for movement. And as for safety, well we didn't blow away in winds reported at 50mph so neither will you. The host Claire is awesome, super friendly and genuinely has good vibes. Made us feel completely at ease and really puts in the effort. We stayed during valentine's weekend and she put petals down which was a nice touch. The food provided was incredible and all from the farm which made it even more special. It really is a gem of a find, even in the storm you could still hear the stream rolling by which is better than any sleep noise apps out there. We'v not stayed in a Sheppard's hut before but I can guarantee we won't stay in one better like this one ever again!

  • On our way back from a 2 night stay. Very cosy and warm with a coal stove and pretty lanterns. We loved making a fire and sitting outside getting back to nature. Thoughtful breakfast items from the farm and Claire was an amazing host, making sure we were both OK and looking after us. We are definitely feeling rested and will be back again soon!

  • Claire's shepherds' van is a little piece of utter tranquility in the middle of the woods. Highly recommend if you just want some time out from your life's craziness. Cosy and comfy right next to nature.

  • This shepherds hut is a real gem. It has everything you need for a quiet and peaceful get away. The woodland setting is perfect and a great base for exploring the Purbeck countryside. Claire is a wonderful hostess and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks again for the most perfect birthday weekend away! I’ll definitely be back!

Lovely self contained annexe set in the beautiful surroundings of the Jurassic coast. There is a cosy double bedroom (which has the option of either a king size or two single beds) a shower room and a well equipped kitchen/dining/living room which has a sofa bed. The property has its own pretty courtyard garden and off road parking for one car.
self contained annexe with easy access to Lulworth Cove and the Jurassic Coast AONB
West Lulworth and its associated Lulworth Cove is a pretty little village with many thatched properties. It does not have street lighting so the night sky can be very spectacular. There are two pubs both of which serve food, a very nice restaurant within easy walking distance of the property (a little expensive but lovely menu) and a bistro nearer to the sea which additionally does take away pizzas . There is also a number of further cafes including Finlays who serve good fish and chips and very delicious Dorset ice cream. (Please note that not everything is open during the winter)
  • Very comfortable annexe in great location. Thoughtfully equipped. Quiet situation but just above the attractive village, (which can be reached down steps just to the right of the property). The thatched roof Castle Inn is a couple of minutes walk, and there is a good restaurant (the Limestone) a few minutes walk away - we had good meals in both. Beautiful countryside around, and about 10 minutes walk to Lulworth Cove.

  • We had a great stay at Falcon’s Nest! It was easy to find and so close to everything we wanted to do in the area. Nice fenced in garden where the pups could sit outside. Some nice, thoughtful touches were left for us, and communication was super speedy. We would stay again!

A self catering 2 bedroom ground floor apartment tucked away in the picturesque village of Briantspuddle in the heart of Dorset. We offer all the comforts and peace you'll need after spending the day exploring the coast & countryside or visiting all the local attractions. Sorry no INFANTS/CHILDREN/ PETS no guests ELECTRICAL HEATERS/FANS allowed we are NOT INSURED
Our art gallery & working studio is next door where the public can view my paintings of local landscapes and abstracts all painted in the fields, streams and beaches of the surrounding areas. I have a wealth of tourist information having lived and worked my way along the coast from Sidmouth to Weymouth. I have walked my dogs, painted, sketched, photographed run and & walked just about everywhere in-between. So if you want ideas or how to find those quite little spots or the special places to go and explore, then just ask. If you want to have a nice bite to eat and a local tipple then I definitley can tell you more. I am always more than happy to tell you all about this wonderful part of the world. PLEASE CHECK HOUSE MANUAL FOR HEATING DURING WINTER BOOKINGS
We are 20 mins from the coastline which has Lulworth cove, Tyneham village, Kimmeridge Bay, Swanage, Studland to name just a few. The village of Briantspuddle is part of the Piddle Valley and we are just 10/15 mins from the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Wareham & Dorchester. The next village along the river from us has a nice dog friendly pub and there is a local shop 10 mins from us in Puddletown. Our village does have a community shop and post office for the basics like milk/eggs and bread.

  • This is a true hideaway in a lovely village. The apartment was very clean and tidy, the kitchen had all we needed for our 4 night stay. The bed and pillows was comfortable Mark our host was there to greet us and show us around. We were using this apartment as a base to look around Dorset and it was perfect for us, the only down side for us townies were the country lanes but by the end of the week even I was getting used to driving down them in the dark. I would recommend staying here and we would book again.

Although recently built, this building actually seems older than the farmhouse it's next to. With oak beamed roof trusses and stone walls inside and out there is a sense of permanence about this place. Shortlake Cottage is located just off a quiet no-through-road and looks out over fields to the coast beyond. As well as the views, the SW Coastpath is nearby for walks into Weymouth (3m) and Lulworth Cove (7m). Osmington village with The Sly Fox pub, and a couple of small shops, is about a 5 minutes walk away. The walk to Shortlake Farm's private beach takes just 10 minutes or so across the fields.

    Paula2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Shortlake Cottage was absolutely delightful, simply and stylish with lovely features and gorgeous views from the upstairs family room. We stayed here with our 3 year old and 3 month old and had everything we needed to feel happy and at home for a few days. We walked down to the beach which was about 20 minutes (maybe a bit more coming back up!) The beach was deserted except for us and really gorgeous. The cottage is ideally located for sights such as Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, etc as well as towns Weymouth and Dorchester being easy drives away. Peter was easy to get in touch with and very helpful on the couple of occasions we needed him too, I would recommend both the cottage and Peter himself as a host. We ate in most nights in the well equipped kitchen but enjoyed a fantastic meal at the nearby Smugglers Inn on our last night which we would recommend also. ****** LOVED IT! 😊

    Alice2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don't do the space and location justice - in a great way! Plenty of room and so close to the bay. The view from the upstairs is brilliant and you can see the bay and over to Portland. We stayed as a couple with our dog, but if you are with another couple then the space and layout would be ideal, ensuring you have privacy as well as a great place to enjoy. Location is excellent for Weymouth, we also went to Swanage whilst there. Would strongly recommend Peters cottage if you are looking for a base to explore the area.

  • A little piece of perfection in a beautiful part of the world. Check-in was seamless. The interior is beautiful and very spacious. Loved the bathroom! The cleanliness is exceptional! The underfloor heating is very effective and the view from upstairs is breathtaking. The location is perfect - you feel like you are in the middle of the country far away from the hustle and bustle but you still have the convenience of Weymouth close by. I can't recommend Peters place enough!

The Garden Room is perfect for walkers as we are on the South West Coast Path and ideal for those wanting to get back to nature and unwind as we are off the beaten track. We are close to Corfe Castle and attractions in the Isle of Purbeck.
The Garden Room is a self contained, cosy double room overlooking the beautiful garden. The room is located in the rear garden of our house. The room has it's own seating area. There is a brand new double bed, breakfast table, separate wash basin and very compact wet room which is a combined toilet and shower space. Unfortunately not suitable for less abled people. Enjoy a continental style breakfast in the mornings; there is a kettle with tea and coffee, a toaster and small fridge supplied with milk, butter and preserves. There is Dorset Cereal, Kelloggs cereal and wholemeal bread for toasting. Gluten free diet can be catered for, please just let us know. Tap water is fron a mains supply so perfect for drinking. There is parking but it is not adjacent to the property and via unmade roads, not suitable for less abled people There is Wifi which can be very patchy at times and can drop out so please don't rely on it if you need it, very sorry but that's all we can do for the moment. Sit in the garden on a summer evening after a long hike relaxing with a beer or glass of wine. On a clear night, as there is no light pollution, you can gaze up at a sky full of stars.
Acton is a small tranquil hamlet of around fifty Purbeck stone cottages with unmade roads throughout. There is two pubs within walking distance. The King's Arms in Langton Matravers and the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers. The Square and Compass only serves pies and pasties but is a fantastic experience. The nearest shop is in Langton Matravers but please check that they are open. There are Coop and Budgen supermarkets in Swanage and lots of smaller shops.
  • We loved our stay in Ian and Steve’s garden room. Lovely decor and styling. Very clean. Just the facilities we needed during a weekend of hiking. The breakfast items were a lovely touch as not much around. Easy check in instructions with photos. We couldn’t connect to the WiFi at all on either phone which wasn’t a big issue as was out for dinner at the local pub anyway and just watched TV when we got back. I loved the information booklet and we actually did one of the walks recommended in there the next day which was off the beaten track & had stunning views so enjoyed that. Thanks both :)

    Rachel2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Steve have created a very cosy garden room. The room is stylish and in a great location to walk to the dancing ledge. The little touches such as the shampoo and condition and the butter and milk made this place amazing value for money. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

  • We had a great time in Ian and Steve's Garden Room. The room was extremely beautiful and perfect for people who just want to relax and enjoy their free time. The bed is very comfortable, everything is clean, you have everything you need, even some breakfast and Ian and Steve are great hosts who reply quickly to your messages and provide you with lots of information about the region. We can definetly recommend others to book here!

  • I’ve been using airbnb since 2014, and this was by far my best experience. The space is cozy, tranquil, and the garden is beautiful. It was very clean and thoughtfully decorated, with surprisingly great amenities considering the space. My boyfriend and I stayed just one night (we wish we could have stayed longer), and felt very comfortable. Ian was so kind and gave excellent local recommendations. It is also walking distance to amazing sites including dinosaur footprints and coastal hikes. I hope to return someday soon as the area has so much to offer!

  • I would thoroughly recommend. Ian and Steve have created a calm and tasteful space which was warm and welcoming to come back to after some very cold and windy walks. All directions and instructions were clear and easy to follow. A range of nice quality breakfast goods provided. I only met Ian, who was charming, friendly and helpful, but I had a sense of complete privacy throughout my stay. I would definitely come back!

  • Ian and Steve's place is in the must idyllic part of Dorset - right in the heart of rural Purbeck. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and cliff walks, the garden room is a perfect cosy nest to come home to after a long day exploring the local area.

  • We needed somewhere to stay near where my wife was having a cataract operation the next day. The room was lovely and clean and homely. Lovely en-suite and a little shared (with small room next door) kitchenette with a microwave. We had a kettle, toaster and a fridge in our room. Bread, milk, butter and marmalade in the fridge too. How thoughtful is that. This is how an Airbnb should be run. Many thanks. Jenny & Rob

Sunset Cottage was built 300 years ago out of Portland Stone and was a fisherman's cottage . Although refurbished to a high standard all original features still remain. Fantastic sea views of Chesil Beach.
Sunset cottage is very cosy with all its original features. Portland stone walls and wooden beams and floors. Wonderful views of Chesil Beach and Jurassic Coast and just a few metres walk from the shingle beach. Cottage is over three floors .
Portland is an island but is connected by a road to Weymouth. The landscape is rugged with beautiful views . Suitable for those who love the outdoors.
  • This is a fabulous place. I stayed here with my 4yo for 5 weeks. Helen is a thoughtful host and the house is well set up for guests. The cottage is beautiful and a pebble-throw from Chesil beach. A historic stone building with cosy rooms and modern heating to keep out the winter chill. The parking can be tricky but the house is on a bus route and local shops were a short walk away. Checking in and out were very simple, a key safe at the door. Helen is friendly host who understands the needs of travellers. I hope to book in here again when we return to the UK. A fantastic little gem - you should stay here!!! 5/5☆

  • Helen House is an awesome place for those who want privacy and silence. The house has everything necessary for living. Fully consistent with the photo. Stunning sea view from the back yard. A store with everything you need is a three minute walk. Free parking 2 minutes from the house. Thanks Helen, it was a wonderful time at your home.

    Yana2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Helen's cottage was perfect . The cottage had everything we needed in the kitchen and the bedrooms . We had space for our bikes at the back . Breathtaking views from the back garden overlooking the beach and to watch the sunset . It is close to the coast path that takes you around the island by foot . It is also near the stunning Rodwell cycle path that goes to Weymouth and Dorchester. It is a 5 mns drive to most cliffs for rock climbing on the island . Helen was helpful and available for when we needed advice .

    Sue2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s Cove cottage at Fortuneswell on Portland island is a great place to stay. The cottage is well stocked with everything you need and Helen is a very friendly host Portland is a fascinating place to explore and nearby Weymouth has many great pubs and restaurants, and of course a beautiful harbour. All in all a great place from which to explore the Jurassic coast and the beautiful county of Dorset. I wouldbgladly stay at Helen’s again.

    Deb2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage, great hospitality and excellent communication from our very happy host Helen. Wonderful scenic strolls, beach and amenities all within a short walk plus Weymouth easily accessible in only a quick drive. Happy to recommend.

  • Wonderful place.

    Dellimore2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic; location, views, kitchen, garden, bathroom, bedrooms, lounge, garden, privacy - thoroughly recommend for a long relaxing vacation, it’s like a home from home. It’s as warm as you need, most of the time I need to turn the heat down and this is the middle of winter, even got a wood burner. 5 min from the Sea, some lovely local pubs & cafes. I Love this place. One of the very best Airb&b’s I’ve stayed at -Oops I really shouldn’t have said that, I really meant keep this a secret! Definitely book folks well worth it. Obviously you need to be fit if you haven’t got a car, but why come to Portland if you don’t like hills?! Perfect!!

    Dellimore2018-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved this cottage!!! It is 3 stories: the kitchen and living room are on the ground floor. The kitchen has everything you need for a perfect stay- including a full sized refrigerator. The living room has a large TV and very comfortable couches as well as a fireplace. I kept the backdoor in the kitchen as well as the kitchen window open all day and it kept the downstairs very cool even in the heat of summer. First floor is the bathroom with a shower and a separate full sized bathtub. Also on the first floor is the master bedroom with a VERY comfortable king size bed. Although the cottage has no Air Conditioning and it was Hot outside, by opening the bathroom window and the bedroom window there was an amazing breeze that kept the place cool! 2nd floor is two twin beds and a little play area- which is also good for storage. There is excellent WiFi which reaches the whole cottage. All that said, my favorite part of this cottage is the incredible view from the sitting area out back. It is just amazing- perfect place to watch the sunset every day! And Helen- the owner... is just an amazing woman. She is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions or need anything she is right there for you. She and her husband live in cottages near by and have a garden adjacent to the back sitting area of this cottage. So if you need them... they are there. But they are not intrusive at all. Overall, just an absolutely wonderful stay in a fantastic cottage by the sea. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!

We look forward to welcoming you into our family home here in Upton, Poole. My husband Steve and I live here with our 2 boys (Mason & Hunter), aged 5 and 8 and our daughter (Tilly) who is 2! Obviously a small level of noise comes with family life and our three excitable young children, however, we are as respectful as possible when we have guests staying with us. Please feel free to get in touch if you have questions in advance of booking and we look forward to meeting you. Gemma.
Your room is located on the ground floor of our newly renovated home (a labour of love!) and is located just inside the front door offering you a little privacy from the rest of the house. The room is spacious, comfortable and bright with lots of natural light due to its large bay window. You can enjoy the comfy king-sized bed and en-suite offering a shower, basin and toilet. There is also the option of an additional, separate room on the ground floor. This has two single beds and is ideal for children, these are the only two bedrooms downstairs and the doors are opposite each other, but please be aware they are separated by the hallway. The additional room does not have a bathroom, so guests would need to share the ensuite in the king size room. A continental breakfast is included with your stay and this can be enjoyed at the breakfast bar area in your room. The room will be stocked with food items for your continental breakfast including bread, cereals, tea, coffee, milk and crockery. Here you will also find a fridge, toaster and kettle for your use. We will provide bedding, towels, shampoo & shower gel. We are on a leafy road in Upton, with links to Poole, Bournemouth and the Jurassic Coast. With the ferry port in Poole only 10 minutes away, our home is the perfect base for your short getaway or a base for work. Our driveway to the front of the property offers plenty of off road parking or alternatively, you would be welcome to park on the road if you prefer. Please note: there is another Dorchester Road in Poole so you must use our postcode when finding our house.
Our home is situated in a leafy, well established road in Upton. Surrounded by thatched cottages and mature trees you will feel like you are in the country, but still have access to the main towns and attractions of Bournemouth and Poole. With a pub, St Peters Finger, a 15 minute walk away, the Bakers Arms just a bit further, a Dominoes, Costa and Fish and Chip shop in Upton there are plenty of options for food and drink close by. We are only a short drive to Poole Ferry and the many beaches Bournemouth and Poole have to offer.
  • The room/en suite was lovely & clean. We had all we needed for a one night stopover.

There was a large selection of breakfast items for a continental breakfast. The room is extremely good value. And we would highly recommend.

  • We had a lovely time at the Stable Barn despite the horrendous weather (Storm Dennis!). It’s the best Airbnb we have stayed at so far - thoughtfully designed and very well equipped, it is also in an excellent location for the many attractions this part of Dorset has to offer. Gail is a warm and welcoming host, always at hand if needed and with some great tips for places to visit and eat. We definitely hope to return.

    Jo2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Stable Barn is absolutely beautiful and Gail is a superb host. The Barn is equipped with everything you need for your stay and all equiment and furniture are top quality (sorry about the two broken wine glasses!). We had a powercut on our first day (Storm Ciara), only for half an hour but Gail came round with some delicious home made stew just in case we were not able to cook anything. It was much appreciated and saved us from having to go out. We had a fantastic week and despite the weather we were out every day visiting places like Lulworth Cove (6 mile walk along the coastal path through Durdle Door and Scratchy Bottom!! and return), West Bay (brilliant food at the Watch House Cafe on the front, Keralan Fish Curry and Crab Linguine is a must!!) and Max Gate, the house of Thomas Hardy ( what a dark horse!!). All great places and we always looked forward to returning to The Stable Barn at the end of each day, ready to cosy in and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Thanks for a brilliant week Gail, your barn is beautiful.

  • House was really lovely, everything you could need and comfortable, heating was great, kitchen fully equipped. Upstairs shower was a little hard to control the temperature and occasionally got super hot but if you start a little cooler than you want, it gets slightly warmer after a minute or so. I'm 6"2 and the shower hose was just about high enough so just a warning for taller people might have to duck a little. Overall, it was a great holiday, great value and Gail was a great host :)

  • An ideal location for a perfect getaway with incredible views and beautiful walks. The dogs enjoyed it as much as we did! The hot tub overlooking the bay was definitely a highlight. Despite a few minor issues with the accommodation we had the most wonderful relaxing stay. The fireplace was perfect for the rainy nights and it was a very thoughtful touch to provide enough wood for our two-night stay. We would definitely return and would recommend a stay in this lovely place.

  • This Old Lookout is a very special place. We only stayed one night but Peter still put the spa on for us. And the star-gazing was amazing!

  • Lovely relaxing and warm house in a pretty village. Just over the hill from the Cerne Abbas Giant. Kim was a super host and I would definitely stay here again.

    Robin2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kim’s cottage is a charming property. I received a warm welcome upon arrival and the room was very tidy and clean, the breakfast was also a treat with a selection of hot drinks, cereals and jams. I highly recommend Kim’s place for both short and long stays.

    Jack2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kim was great, very friendly and accepted my request at fairly short notice. The room and house are lovely. I’d definitely stay here again if in the area.

    Paul2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kim was fantastic. Very welcoming yet ensured I had plenty of privacy. The house is beautiful, and I had a room with access to the bathroom and her kitchen, which she had ensured was stocked with food and drink should I not have some myself. I had access to radiator controls in my room so I could set temperature to my liking, and she ensured I had extra blankets should I need as well. I couldn't recommend enough.

It was very easy to find on Sandford holiday park and provided a great base to explore. It suited our needs perfectly as a family of grandparents, parents and child with two dogs.

Honeysuckle Lodge is a unique blend of luxury mixed with the classic beach/shepherds hut design. It combines spa like experiences such as drenching shower and a hot tub surrounded by living walls; with home from home comforts such as cosy duvets, soft pillows and HD TV with Amazon Fire stick. Located on the site of an 18th Century Grade II listed building, in a small village with a fantastic local pub and village shop. Guests self check-in and out.
The lodge although small boasts a brand new en-suit with drenching rain shower head, stone sink and exposed copper piping. There is a double bed with cosy bedding, tea making facilities, Nespresso coffee machine and light continental breakfast. The Lodge also has use of a hot tub located just outside the lodge, surrounded by a living wall which gives privacy and a unique jungle feel. The Lodge is built in the grounds of our circa 18th Century Grade II Listed Thatched house which is located next to the A354 - this does mean that you will hear cars and often farm machinery passing during the day and sometimes at night.
The Royal Oak pub is the best local you could ask for. Serving fantastic food and drink and run by very friendly people. There is also a village shop too. All of which is within 2-3 minutes walk.
  • We had a lovely stay here, it looks exactly as it does in the pictures! The location is perfect with so much to do just 20 minutes away in any direction! The hot tub was lovely after a day of exploring and the bed was super comfy. The extra bits (breakfast, orange juice and a bottle of wine) are super thoughtful. The Royal Oak does lovely food and everyone should 100% visit. We had a great time here, our only niggle was that it took ages for our towels and swimwear to dry, but apart from that we would stay again.

  • Incredible little lodge, perfect for a relaxing couples’ break. Built by the hosts, it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the experience of their guests. If you’re happy to drive for 20 minutes in any direction then there are endless options for day trips. The local pub was a great recommendation and just a short walk from the accommodation. To all future guests - kick back and enjoy!

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely little Airbnb! The decor is so cosy and Jeremy and Chloe have done a wonderful job creating this little oasis. The hot tub is a thankful retreat after a long walk in the rain. Milborne is a delightful town, free from masses of tourists, and full of history and poetic scenery. Highly recommend visiting nearby Milton Abbey and Durdle Door. One note- there isn’t really a place to eat inside the bnb, but if you aren’t opposed to bed snacks then you’ll have a grand time!

    Lillith2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much! Jeremy was the perfect host and we couldn’t have asked for a better night away. The lodge is amazing, so well equipped and the decor is modern and stylish, with lovely little touches everywhere! We really appreciated the wine, milk and orange juice in the fridge too. If you’re staying on a Sunday be sure to try the fantastic carvery at The Royal Oak pub just a stones throw away from the lodge. Overall we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back 5*

  • Apple Lodge was just perfect for the night I stayed. Such a cute little place which was very cosy and comfortable and had everything I needed. Rosie and Dave were very accommodating before I set off to a friends wedding that day! Really recommend this charming place!

    Ross2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay in the cute Apple lodge. It is located in the backyard of the house and a good place to experience "glamping". There is a bathroom (without a shower) in the house itself and a small fridge to put some stuff in. There is a water cooker, cutlery and plates available in the lodge. The backyard is nice to relax and to spend some time in the hammock. We stayed there one night but if we had more time we would have stayed for more days!

    Redmer2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Rosie's apple lodge. It's situated in their beautiful backyard and located conveniently if you, like us, want to visit the jurassic coast and durdle door. Rosie is very welcoming and friendly, wasted no time in giving us tips on where to eat and even drawing us a handy map! Lovely, would definitely reccomend!

Watch for wildlife like deer and pheasants from the garden, while among the visual treats inside are floral accents, both artistic and natural. Original features include exposed beams, 250-year-old floors, and horse tie-up points in the walls.
Located on the grounds of Downwood Vineyard this idillic place will take your breath away. Take a walk to the nearby woods, watch stars at night and hear nothing but the wind in the trees and chirping birds in the country. Sightings of rabbits, deers and pheasants also are very possible. That’s what makes this place so unique and special
Take a walk to the nearby woods in the nearby woods and play a round of golf at the Ashley Wood course, only 2 minutes away. Have a day out at Monkey World and the Bovington Tank Museum, and explore historic Shaftesbury, Poole, and Wimborne nearby.

  • What a fantastic place. I am so happy I chose to stay here, it was perfect for my get away with my dog. They had layed out dog bowl and bed which was brilliant. The property was stunning, spotless and eveything I wished for. The location was great, right near a tesco which was handy. It was super peaceful and you didn't feel disturbed at all, I felt right at home. The breakfast each morning was an amazing touch and really rounded off my stay. Hopefully I'll be back!

    Chloe2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely one night stay in the stables. Fantastic character with the original features remaining. Good communications when we got a bit lost in the dark. Would love to go back for longer.

    Jane2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Love this little stable, it was cute and full of character. The host had set out some balloons and decor for valentines which was adorable! Only small downfall was that we could not access the WiFi, however who needs WiFi when you're on a romantic break!

    Steven2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the stable for my birthday. When we checked in the property was decorated with banners and balloons and they even left a bottle of Prosecco for us! We unfortunately couldn’t have the breakfast as my partner is a coeliac however the hosts had left us lots of information on gluten free eateries in the area which we though was very thoughtful. Overall a fantastic stay and just right for a few nights away from it all. We will be back!
