Places to stay in Elk River

Places to stay in Elk River
the Singing Dog B&B (Bed and Bone) outside Deary, ID, invites you to stay and play in the adjacent Clearwater National Forest. Well-behaved pets are welcome, but not required. Forest roads, trails, and rail-beds abound for hiking, biking, xc-skiing, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling. Owners' 2-acre pond is stocked with small-mouth bass, crappie, and trout and a canoe is available for your use in warmer weather.
Come unwind and disconnect from the madness. Enjoy the natural world and true dark-sky country nestled in the National Forest, but only a mile off the highway. When you come back inside, you'll find our accommodations comfortable but old-fashioned, with VHS tapes and DVDs replacing the internet, and board games and puzzles replacing video games. (Cell service is available thru Verizon or Inland Cellular, but AT&T stops in the town of Deary.) A fenced backyard allows your pet to relax off leash.
We are 5 miles past Deary and are about the same distance from Moose Creek Reservoir and 25 miles from Elk River, when you want to explore further. You can hike to the Little Boulder 5-mile loop trail from the property in about 10 minutes.
  • It's really cool place and we enjoyed our stay

  • I'm always weary of places that advertise as "dog friendly" because this can translate to "dirty". As someone who travels with pets, I sometimes have to settle for less than stellar conditions. But I was happily surprised. We have never felt more welcome! There were so many personal touches and it was perfect for my husband, our two German shepherds, and me. There is a large fenced area for the dogs to play, and the setting is absolutely gorgeous. Very close to a pleathora of beautiful hikes. Though our dogs were clearly very welcomed, this home was by no means "doggy". We look forward to many return visits.

  • You can expect a quiet peaceful, clean place to stay. The country is beautiful and my time was amazing in Pierce Idaho. Clay and Lily were very helpful with information and if you stay in Pierce be sure to visit Ms. Lilly's on main street. Yah, it's owned by Clay and Lily where I discovered the clam chowder and Texas toast on Friday is second to none! And the beer is cold!!! I hope to back in 2020.... Rev. Douglas Vaughan From Oregon

The Red Barn Lodge is nestled in the picturesque town of Elk River. The barn sleeps up to 10 guests and is a great retreat for big groups or families. Enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, hunting- all that nature has to offer! Snow mobiles and ATVs are available to rent across the street.
  • We enjoyed our stay. The place had plenty of room for all of us to sleep and play. The kids enjoyed playing pool and darts.

    Beth2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Been there twice!

    Drew2019-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I made a lot of great memories in the Red Barn. I highly recommend it. I found the space itself to be much larger than I had anticipated based on the pictures. We had several occasions to use the kitchen and we found everything we needed. The small touches were great - it was fun showing the youngsters how a cassette tape worked, and the wall decorations gave a real touch of the rustic. Elk River itself is a neat town - we had breakfast at the Huckleberry, dinner at the Log Inn, and drinks at Tom's Tavern. All recommended. For activities, I recommend checking out the big tree (1/2 hr drive), as well as the Elk Creek Falls (2 hr hike). A couple of things to know going in - Elk River is at the end of the road, so don't expect the internet. The WiFi worked for about 20 minutes over our 3 day stay. If you're coming here to get away from it all, you're going to succeed. AT&T service doesn't work at all, but Verizon does - though slower. Inland Cellular seems to have full service. Also, the tap water has a strong iron taste to me, so I recommend the import of bottled water.

  • This cabin was secluded and a great place to spend the night. We brought wood with us and sat by the bonfire next to the water into the evening. The sky was clear and we could see thousands of stars. The only negative was that we didn't have more time.

This house is close to Orofino town center, yet it's secluded -- especially the back patio. Each of the 2 bedrooms has a queen-sized bed; and the kitchen, living room, and bathroom have everything you need. Watch the sun light up the hills in the morning with coffee on the front deck, and relax on the back patio in the evenings with the firepit and bbq grill. Keyless front door entry. High-speed WiFi.
BEFORE YOU BOOK -- PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: 1) All living areas are only accessible by the front stairs or by walking up the side hill -- there is no elevator or lift. Stairs get slippery when icy, so use handrail, don't have your arms full, use caution, etc. 2) Basement and garage are locked and are not part of this rental. 3) Washer and dryer are not included in this rental, but there is a great laundromat within a 5-minute drive. There is a small (max 22-lbs. items) portable dryer in the 2nd bedroom -- set it up in the room, not a closet and don't put dripping wet items in it. 4) No pets are allowed in this rental. 5) No smoking or vaping inside the house. 6) No fires are to be started in the living room fireplace. 7) Cell phone service is sketchy except for Verizon, however you can communicate using the WiFi connection in the house. 8) Please indicate how many people will be staying in the house in the "Guests" drop down menu to the right. 9) Front door keypad can be feisty sometimes, so there is a hidden key to be used in emergencies only -- its location will be given to you when door code is sent to you on check-in day.
This house is located on a cul-de-sac which makes it pleasantly private. We couldn't ask for better neighbors, and one of the next door neighbors will be your caretaker, so you'll be well taken care of! Orofino is home to some of the quaintest shops, cafes, churches, and city park you could find. Either locally or within a short drive, you'll find world class fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, camping, and seasonal events.
  • Cozy, and very relaxing. Beautiful scenery, clean air.

  • HANDS DOWN BEST PLACE TO STAY IN OROFINO! This home is located in a private area close to town with deer, turkeys and the quail to watch all day right outside the window. It's fully stocked with everything you may need and so readily available. SUPER CLEAN! COMFY BEDS! Very fast WIFI. I'd highly recommend this home short or long term and it's kid friendly as well. Plus the hosts are OUTSTANDING. Very quick to respond and helpful. It's by far the absolute best lodging in Orofino in my opinion and great rates too. Can't say enough! When comparing other local options, anyone would be crazy to stay anywhere else if you could stay here!

  • You're missing out if you don't have Alex cook for you! She made some of the most delicious and beautifully presented food we've ever had! The scallops, especially, were incredible! They have a traeger wood grill which Alex used for some of the dishes. The pictures of the canyon in the listing are from right in front of your bungalow. It's a beautiful view and you can enjoy it while you're in the jacuzzi, too :D You might need 4WD if it's snowy when you come. Also - there are address marker posts along the road that we found helpful once we knew what they were. Definitely a rare treasure - so glad we came! We'll definitely tell our friends and family about this place!

    Krissy2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolutely gorgeous location. The location is perched on the edge of a canyon with a river below and woods all around. Stunning.

  • This place is absolutely beautiful. The ranch is amazing on its own, but the views are really incredible! The decor in the room is very homey and comfortable! There is also wildlife all around. The massages are fantastic, too! I would definitely recommend this property!

This cozy "Shouse" (shop house) is located on a 136 acre farm. Guests have a view of a working cattle ranch with horses, a mini donkey, a pony and a few free range chickens. The "Guest Farmshouse" is decorated in French Country & Farmhouse Chic! Your host (Sheena) was a housekeeper for elite executives in the area for over 10 years. I am very meticulous and can guarantee a beautifully clean and comfortable stay. The house has been newly remodeled with a newer kitchen, carpet and paint!
The “Farmshouse” boasts a kitchen fully stocked with all of the pans and utensils needed for cooking. It’s a wonderful place for extended stays. We are in a prime location for people interested in seeing the area. Local interest include the Emerald Creek Garnet mine, Brush Creek Creamery, Elk River & the Giant Cedar Tree. Colters Creek Winery and a beautiful drive through the Palouse to Moscow or Pullman. Fishing and hunting are also a huge attraction in our area! We have no steps in the farmshouse, so it is fairly wheelchair friendly.
  • Cozy, cute 2 bedroom. Nicely decorated with homey touches. 5 miles or so out of Troy towards Deary. Very comfortable. No internet or tv service. Very, very quiet and serene.

  • Such a comfortable pleasant place to stay and the nicest people I’ve met in a long time!

    Diana2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a sweet setup, such a break from the noise and rush of urban/suburban life. I saw stars at night ... I can’t remember the last time I saw so many. Sheena really pampered us with a stocked kitchen of fruits and breakfast items, including eggs and coffee. Her husband (Darin?) was so patient when I bombarded him with questions, and I appreciated Sheena checking in to see if we needed anything washed since our stay was over a week long. Great people, lovely place.

    Noor2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay sheena did a great job for us.

    Stewart2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Easy access, private, quiet, clean, adequate amenities, extras, and spacious accommodations. Sheena was friendly and quick to respond to our questions.

    Irene2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This peaceful place is just what we needed after busy college touring days and a loud football game. Sheena left us everything we would want for many cups of coffee & even breakfast! The farmhouse room is nicely decorated & clean. The lovely bedrooms held comfortable beds that allowed for restful sleep. Waking up to horses whinnying was delightful! This was well worth the little extra drive.

  • Lori is a great host, interesting and fun. The house and setting are farmhouse perfect. It's very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed ourselves.

    Terri2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for the peace and beauty of your home. I love this old farm house, and it has been like stepping back in time to a less frantic, demanding world. My dog and Lori adored each other. The 360 degree views are breath-taking - the Palouse is gorgeous. I've traveled through northern WA and ID for years, and now I know exactly where I want to stay the next time.

    Deb2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lori was a terrific host. Her house is located in a beautiful setting with views for miles in all directions. Her house is quiet, comfortable, safe, and clean. Those are all important characteristics of an Airbnb place for me. I recommend to anyone who wants to stay in a rural setting and get away from the city. There is no problem finding this place if anyone is concerned about that. Lori provided detailed directions, but also Google maps directed us to the place without any issues. If you are visiting Moscow/Pullman, the drive is not too far to/from Lori's place...and it is a beautiful journey.

    G2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A great old home on the outskirts of the Palouse, with spectacular views. The king suite was lovely, and Lori was a great host. A great option if you are looking to get away from town, or if you are headed to Pullman for a Coug game!

    Ryan2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A comfy home away from home among the beautiful fields of Idaho!

    Sara2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at Burnt Ridge was completely wonderful! Lori quickly responded to our booking inquiries and upon arrival her warm welcome made us feel “at home”! The B&B is neat, clean, and very charming! Beds are comfortable and everything we needed to make our stay comfy was provided. The panoramic farmland views are breathtaking in every direction! Watching the sun set from the front porch, as it dropped behind a rustic barn and field of wheat was beyond description! Breakfast was delicious and diet restrictions accommodated! We enjoyed visiting with Lori and learning the history of the farm. All in all a lovely stay and we look forward to future visits!

  • Carrie’s place is amazing! We used the space to hold a yoga/spa retreat. The sauna was hot, the beds comfy, the kitchen well stocked, the space was just perfect. She went above and beyond to make our experience incredible. Communication was impeccable, checkin easy. It was just an awesome experience.

  • What an amazing weekend! This house was absolutely amazing and the people who own it are the absolute best. I highly recommend a weekend getaway at this cozy place. A huge shoutout to Carrie and Randy for working with our times and answering any questions we had about the home. We will be back! A lot!

  • We were a little nervous about renting a house with no reviews but we took a chance and hit the jackpot. We were the first renters at Five Pines and it is a real gem! Along with the welcoming basket on the counter as we entered, the fridge and cupboards had food and beverages left for us by our wonderful hosts! They made sure we had everything we needed and my interaction with Carrie from prior to us reserving until after we departed was the best! Their communication with us by phone, email and text made me feel like we had made new friends and left me wishing we had met them in person. Carrie & Randy’s house was perfect for our extended family group of ten including 4 energy filled children who love exploring outdoors. It is not too far from the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest and It is about 3 miles from Weippe on a quiet road. The area has abundant wildlife and the night sky is a stargazing delight. We stayed far later in the morning than we had originally intended and wished we could have stayed longer. We live a far distance from Five Pines, but we will definitely try and make time to go back again.

There was plenty of room for everyone, the kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed, the scenery was beautiful and there's great recreation nearby with fishing and swimming at Dwoshak State Park. The Lodge is near the end of a dead end road so there was no traffic past the place. We had the whole place and area to ourselves.

Nine Muses is a rustic remote older country home on 5 acres, 1 1/2 hrs to Pullman, 1 hour to Moscow, 35 minutes to Kendrick, 30 minutes to Orofino. Kendrick and Orofino have stores and restaurants. We are 1 hour from Dworshak Reservoir, we are within minutes of walking trails and back roads good for 4 wheeling. The property is a haven for birds and wildlife it has been free of herbicides and pesticides for over 12 years, therefore we have a healthy insect population.
The pond is a beautiful tranquil space for meditating or good old fashioned unwinding. It is full of gold fish and enjoys daily visits from raptors and water birds. Because of the REMOTE location be sure to get verbal directions.. Most cell phones do not work out here, Verizon may work but service is spotty.
The nights can be chilly. The neighbors are friendly, watch for deer and elk.
  • Nine Muses is not for the faint of heart. It is filled with wild and so much beauty. It has deep peace and deep equality for All aspects of Life. Come willing to learn, to love and to share joy for all life.

    Joshua2018-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This space is gorgeous and very relaxing. Brought my family for a wonderful weekend without electronics. We enjoyed exploring the area and playing board games. The only problem we experienced was that the water comes from a well and smelled of eggs. We drink a lot of water but couldn't get past the smell. Not a big deal but I wish I brought bottled water.

    Serenity2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away from it all, this is the place for you! My family absolutely LOVED this retreat. THANK YOU SO MUCH

    Erin Elizabeth2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the serene location, and hospitality from the host. Very unique setting, plenty of room.

    Dania2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect for a quiet get away. Lots of wildlife around the area. It was a perfect location for us.

    Bart2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, mother in-law and our five children stayed in this home for two nights. Each of the nights, we even had our brother-in-laws come and stay the night as well. The pictures do not do this home justice. The owner of the property is a very spiritual person, and with that, there were many "spiritual" objects in the home. It was nearly overwhelmingly relaxing. The entire atmosphere was so calming, the smell of the firewood, the rich smell of the Earth..it was very peaceful. The owners mother, "Grandmother", she told us to call her, was such a charming person. She lives on the property as well. On our last night there, we invited her to come over and give us some information about the home, the land, and the background from all of the neat things in the house. If we didn't live 9 hours away, we would definitely make this in our top 3 most visited travel destinations! Surprisingly, our children did very well with no electronics, and it was nice for even the adults to have a break from them. There is a stereo in the main room though. The entire home comes with everything you would essentially need, except for the food of course. We left feeling enlightened, and at peace with ourselves. If you're looking to find some time to reconnect with yourself, or your loved ones, this place is absolutely perfect for it. Like I said, we had almost no cell phone use, because there are no towers about 7-10 miles from the home, so be prepared. Other than that, this home was absolutely delightful to stay in. Super cozy, and so many beautiful things to look at. Sadly because of the rain, we weren't able to explore outside much, however the back patio was nice to sit on and enjoy my morning cup of tea. There is a pond with beautiful lillys right in the backyard, and apparently some goldfish in there! Overall, this is one of the best places on airBNB we have stayed, the people managing it were very attentive to our needs.

    Robert2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the yurt and it was so clean and it was easier to get there than we expected. Make sure you ask for an exact pin though, because you will not be able to find it with the addresss given. The caretaker of the house stayed up late until we arrived to show us around and then even made us a French press in the morning. This place is worth staying at even though it is way out in the middle of nowhere. If you're looking for solitude, peace, and a sky full of stars, stay here!

Drinks and snacks are offered on arrival of guests, and if dinner has been ordered, a social hour of appetizers and beer/wine service precedes the meal. Sometimes guests, who also enjoy cooking, even join Jo in the kitchen with a glass of wine while cooking together! Guests are always asked if they prefer dining alone, or wish to join other guests in a social atmosphere. Jo feels it is very important to see that guests feel as comfortable as if they were in their own home. The High Country Inn is a "getaway" where there is no close traffic or noise. Orofino is the rural town about ten minutes away, with an assortment of cafes, from standard American to Mexican, Chinese, and pizza. The nearest airport to us is Lewiston (LWS) one hour, or Spokane, WA, three hours. Most vacationers reach us by car traveling from areas of Portland, Seattle, Boise ,Coeur d' Alene, Missoula, as well from other parts of the U.S. and Europe. We are located about a day's travel from Seattle or Portland and half-way from there to favorite vacation spots of Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, which makes a nice stop for those traveling that way. A developed hiking trail is located at the Big Eddy Marina, which is the site of Dworshak Dam, less than 10 minutes from the inn.. Several programs are available at the Dworshak Visitor's Center as well as tours. The Nez Perce National Historic Park is just 40 minutes away, with programs, films, and display about the Nez Perce, who were the native Americans who aided Lewis and Clark in their Corps of Discovery. There are more sites of the L and C route along this part of the Clearwater River than most other areas of their travel from the Missouri River to the Pacific Ocean. The inn also boasts several books for sale or perusal about this era of the Corps of Discovery, which took place (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).
