Gorgeous Gothic Church, tastefully converted into a 6 bedroom house, with stunning original features, sleeps 17 (a few more with a squash)! In a peaceful village, 2 miles from the historic Cathedral City of Wells, Bath and Bristol - 30 mins. PLEASE NOTE: 1) Price listed is for 16 guests. Welcome to this magical part of Somerset, only 3 miles from Glastonbury festival site! From quiet family get-togethers to grand house parties – the Gothic Church is a unique and fun modern party venue for all occasions and will ensure wonderful memories of your special celebrations. Built in 1838 the Old Gothic Church stands in the sleepy village of East Horrington, 2 miles from Wells, Britain’s smallest city (it has a Cathedral, therefore it’s a city!) offering good shopping facilities as well as restaurants and pubs, a cinema, churches of most denominations, together with open-air markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Wells is making a name for itself as a film location, the most recent productions which have been filmed here are “The Libertine” starring Johnny Depp, the hit movie Hot Fuzz and the second film about Queen Elizabeth 1st called “The Golden Age” starring Cate Blanchett. The Gothic Church is a fine example of early Victorian sacred architecture and has been recently renovated to the highest of modern standards. It is now a unique and fun party venue for private celebrations offering sumptuous living and working spaces and rooms with individual interiors. Entering via the immense vaulted atrium you’ll find three downstairs bedrooms, one bathroom and one shower room and a fully-equipped 44ft kitchen/breakfast room. There are also stunning spaces for optional spa/pamper sessions. Ascending the open-plan double staircase you will find on one side of the atrium the spectacular banqueting gallery with its three original stained glass windows. On the other side are three further bedrooms, another shower room and the spacious Chancel living room with its central glass wood-burning stove and impressive Gothic windows, with views as far as the mystical Glastonbury Tor and the Isle of Avalon. Outside is a private decked courtyard complete with indoor hot tub and seating area. There is off-road parking for 3 cars with additional parking available further down the lane.
Spa and pampering sessions: You can book external treatments direct with Thermae Bath Spa (in Bath), or we can help you arrange for local qualified therapists to visit and treat you at The Gothic Church. Countryside activities – The Mendip hills are a beautiful part of England where you can find activities to suit everyone. From peaceful walks, golf or horse-riding to more unusual sports such as clay-pigeon shooting, hot-air ballooning, karting, rock climbing and 4×4 off-roading Eating In: You can plan to cook your own party meals to be enjoyed in the atmospheric banqueting gallery. If cooking is not your forte, you could select a local take-away to deliver, or arrange delicious catered meals by high quality chefs; delivered, served and cleared away – all great options and none needing taxis! Eating Out: There is a wealth of local restaurants and cafes to choose from in Wells as you wander through the picturesque streets.
  • This. Place. is. AMAZING! 14 of us stayed here for my best friend's Hen Party. It was honestly better than I could have ever imagined. If you are planning a hen or big group getaway, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! It is SO COOL! And unique and amazing. It's absolutely huge and to have so much space with such a big group is really important - we totally didn't feel on top of eachother at all. The space is VAST. Lots of fridge space and eating space and everything you need to do big meals etc. Everything was spotless when we arrived, which must be difficult with such a huge place so credit to the cleaner!! We decorated the place with things we could tie with string, as they specify to not use cellotape / blue tac or anything which was absolutely fine. Plenty of things to tie balloons etc to, with string. The beds are actually incredibly comfortable as well! We bought a speaker with us to play music and had lots of fun and dancing in the kitchen. We were concious of noise but were able to have lots of singing and dancing, within reason! On the Saturday night we got a minibus (would reccommend SouthWest Minibuses) into Bristol to go for dinner and cocktails. It is worth noting that the drive into Bristol is about 45-50 minutes, rather than 35 mins which I think is in the AirBnb description. The hot tub in the shed in the garden is LUSH. It's lovely and big. We had about 8 of us in there at one point. Was lovely to sit in there with the door open to let fresh air in. It was a bit disappointing that when we arrived, the housekeeper told us it was too cold for us to go in but that it would warm up for the evening, however when we checked it in the evening it still wasn't warm enough for us to get in. I told the housekeeper and within minutes the maintenance man came round (which is incredible - thank you!) and he said there was a technical fault that morning so it didn't have time to heat up in time. It just meant we couldn't use it on the first day, but that was fine as we were too busy chatting and dancing anyway! By Saturday morning it was absolutely perfect. The maintenance man & housekeeper were just a phone call / text away and were very helpful (the heating went off at one point and they helped us fix it right away). James, the host, was excellent in the run up to our stay. Really good communication with lots of advice and answered all my questions. This place literally made the hen weekend. Wish we could go back and do it all again! Thank you so much to the team @ The Old Church!

  • A great house really good location and very warm and comfortable great for families and large groups. Very smooth check in and good communication during booking would highly recommend and would defiantly stay again good parking outside and around the house

  • We spent NYE at James' place and it was amazing. The building itself was unreal (probably better than the photos) and the location was really easy to get to from London and also a great base for a nice country walk - Especially when there is a hot tub to come back to! The house was so spacious and fully equipped for 16 people to relax, have dinner and sleep. Check-in and all comms were really easy between James and Ewa and they provided everything we needed to know upfront. Overall, we all had a fantastic time and would really recommend it to groups wanting a weekend outside of the city. Thank you James and Ewa!

  • The Gothic Church is a fantastic place for a group of friends, with lots of bedrooms and communal areas. We loved the lounge room with the fireplace, the big kitchen, and the mezzanine with a table that could seat us all for group meals. The booking process was simple and James was very accommodating and helpful with local recommendations. There are some lovely country walks and local pubs nearby.

  • We had a fabulous time. It’s a great location, access to so many places, Wells, Glastonbury, Bath etc. The house was perfect for a girls weekend get together. The beds are comfortable and there is lots of space. Everyone loved it.

  • Stayed here for my sister’s hen do and it was perfect for it! Great location and James gave us lots of ideas of things to do nearby. The church itself was beautiful and had everything we needed. Thanks very much!

    Catherine2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely weekend stay at The Gothic Church, a perfect space for friends or family to stay. The church is super clean, inviting, beautifully decorated and in the cutest of villages with a fab pub a nice walk away. James and Ewa are great communicators and made it super easy to find things about about the area, and how to get in and out of the church. The hot tub was a fab addition, which was lovely and relaxing and a whole lot of fun. I totally recommend staying at The Gothic Church for a relaxing weekend with friends, or family or as a base to the amazing surrounding village and towns. :-)

  • We have just got home after the most brilliant weekend at the Old Vicarage. There was plenty of room for 21 of us, and we loved the hot tub! Everything was exactly as advertised and more! We arranged a caterer to come and cook for us on the Saturday night, so we could make the most of the fabulous kitchen and dining table. Harriet was so helpful and gave loads of brilliant information about the local area etc. I’m already trying to think of an excuse to come back!

    Katie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Vicarage was the perfect location for our friend group to gather over New Years. The house is spacious- plenty of room for the 8 couples and two children on our mini-holiday to spread out during the day for work, naps, cooking, and privacy. In addition to being an amazing property, the surrounding village, local pub (The Oakhill Inn) and surrounding attractions were an unexpected value-add, making our trip that much more memorable. Harriet is an excellent host!

The cottage (a former apple store) is in the heart of Bruton. It overlooks our secret garden and beyond that the church and dovecote. The open plan interior has a bedroom upstairs and a living room, kitchenette and bathroom/wet-room downstairs.
  • The loveliest place. Everything you could possibly need, from the yummiest homemade muffins to an extra toothbrush! Jocelyn makes you feel so relaxed and ‘at home’. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a lovely early morning surprise too haha. Definitely stay here if you are looking for a place to stay in Bruton! It has the best location. Thank you for everything Jocelyn, I will be back. xx

    Megan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jocelyn’s cottage is wonderful. Very cosy. Lots of lovely touches and nice breakfast options. Jocelyn herself is a lovely warm and friendly host. I felt really at home. I would definitely recommend.

    Jacqui2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jocelyn was a very accommodating host and the Applestore is a a great find in the heart of Bruton.

    Freyja2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a quirky, characterful guest house right in the middle of Bruton. The location is perfect and when you go through the gate into the property you feel like you are in a storybook. You have the entire place to yourself and own access via a private gate. This is a whimsical property run by a very friendly lady who has filled it with character. I had a great night's sleep and would recommend this to a guest who wants a stay with personality rather than a "hotel room" experience.

    John2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant spot for a short Bruton stay

    Sophia2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jocelyn's place is a total gem - nestled down a quiet private street right in the heart of Bruton. It's a little haven! Extra touches like tasty treats and breakfast bits, as well as lots of local friendly knowledge from Jocelyn made it the perfect little stay. Plus it was doggy friendly! We wish we could stay for longer!

    Hannah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much - very nice space and great location. Some lovely thoughtful touches made it all the nicer.

This listing is for our smaller bedroom which sleeps two people. It is a recently renovated space with new ensuite shower room. This room has its own front door and is adjacent to our historic family home, in the beautiful village of Croscombe between Wells and Shepton Mallet. This room shares our conservatory as a sitting area. Please see the layout plan in the photos.
Our home is a 15C farmhouse in the village of Croscombe. We have cats, bees, sheep, chickens, turkeys, geese and ducks and sell our produce locally. Guests are welcome to buy our seasonal produce including cider, jams, marmalade, chutneys, cordials, beeswax polish, wool and free-range eggs.
We're in a quiet English village with a beautiful church, pub and village shop. Nearby are the destination towns of Wells, Frome, Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet. The village of Croscombe is worth a visit in its own right; nestled in the Sheppey Valley it was founded in around 700AD it has a historic church with carved box pews and spectacular spire, several old mill buildings and walks with spectacular views over the village. We have a leaflet of a suggested walk around the village which takes in the majority of the notable buildings and are happy to advise those who would like to go for longer walks on good routes to take.

Stylishly converted in 2016 the Wagon Lodge is light and modern and has been thoughtfully furnished and decorated. It has far reaching countryside views and is ideal for a relaxing holiday and is a great base to explore Somerset from. It is two minutes from the Bath and West showground, close to Glastonbury and Wells and is 5 minutes from the railway station with a direct rail line from London Paddington. The lodge is fully wheelchair friendly.
In the main bedroom, the Super King bed can be separated into two full size single beds at the request of the guests. The downstairs of the lodge is all at one level, making it ideal for wheelchair users and it is all heated using environmentally friendly ground source heating and this is piped into the underfloor heating in the lodge. There is WiFi, a TV and a DVD player provided and there is a delightful space out of the back of the lodge with outdoor furniture to enjoy the views. There is a bbq available for guests use on request.

  • Tad was there to greet us and there was a lovely basket of local food to get us started, as well as (welcome) tea, coffee and condiments. The Lodge was exceptionally clean and everything set to posh hotel standard. The view from top bedroom and sitting area is spectacular. This would be an ideal property for a wheelchair user as there is level access throughout the ground floor. Tad and Angela on hand to ask any questions throughout the stay. We had a lovely time, thank you.

  • A really beautiful space with everything you need for a relaxing and peaceful break. Tad is a brilliant host- he was always available to answer any questions or offer help. It was a great location to explore Somerset. We would definitely love to return.

  • This is a truly beautiful conversion in a great location. We stayed here as a base for Iongleat and also Bath. Tad was quick at responding and friendly. We were bothered at all throughout our stay. The space was plenty big enough for a large family and everything was top quality. We loved staying here and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

    Rhiannon2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Tads was great. It was super clean, his communication was fantastic and he had even left us a hamper of local produce. We used it as a base for longleat before our centerparcs trip. Nice and close and will stay again.

    Tamarah2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very stylish property in Somerset countryside. The view in the morning through the large floor to ceiling windows is stunning! We stayed as a family of four for a long weekend and this was perfect for our needs. Our 5 year old particularly liked the quirky downstairs layout. All communications prompt and helpful and little touches at check in made this stay very nice. The house is immaculate. The property is ideally locally to explore the area. A local farm shop we thought was amazing to get local cheese , beer and ice cream is Westcombe dairy a couple of miles away, also took a day trip to Wookey Hole caves which the whole family loved. A truly great weekend away to Somerset.

This listing is for our family room, sleeping up to 4 people. The bedroom is a large and recently renovated, with new en suite bathroom, and is on the ground floor of our historic family home, in the beautiful village of Croscombe between Wells and Shepton Mallet. Both rooms share our conservatory as a sitting area. Please see the layout plan in the photos.
Our home is a 15C farmhouse in the village of Croscombe. We have cats, bees, sheep, chickens, geese, turkeys and ducks and sell our produce locally.

  • My partner & I enjoyed our first stay at Gert Lushing & exploring the local area so much we returned for a second time to celebrate my partners birthday & again we had a lovely, peaceful & private few days at the hut. Charlotte was fantastic, kindly arranging flowers & a card for my partners birthday to be in the hut to surprise him on our arrival & leaving us extra blankets, heater & hot water bottles to keep us extra warm at night! We were there mid December on the last weekend before they close for the winter & were impressed by how warm the 2 heaters kept the hut, we were nice & toasty throughout our stay. Charlotte was always there on the end of the phone if we needed anything but gave us lots of privacy & space to relax & enjoy our time together. Great space, great host, great time, thank you!

    Julia2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gert Lushing is the perfect little place to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while. Communication was great and we had everything we needed for a few days stay. The Oakhill Inn served lovely food and the 10% discount was a bonus. Would definitely stay at Gert Lushing again!

  • We loved this cozy cabin! It had everything that we needed. We were worried about being cold during November however were pleasantly surprised by the 2 heaters which made it very warm and toasty. Charlotte was a great host and provided quick replies. All in all a great stay and we will definitely be coming back sometime!

    Mike2019-11-26T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful cabin with stunning open fields, peaceful, tranquil perfect for getting away from the rat race.

    Sarah2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, great views of the field and farm and a really cosy cabin! There was everything we could possibly need to cook and prepare food, managing to make fajitas, hot sandwiches, jacket potatoes and even bake some cookies! The cabin was amazingly clean and cosy, and the choice of two heaters to use to warm the room up were much needed when it got chilly! It felt especially comfy when laying in bed listening to the rain on the roof (there was lots of it!). Thanks again Charlotte, we hope to see you soon.

Who would’ve thought that a humble, disused barn could be reimagined into such an uber cool pad? The perfect hideout for two, the Bolt can be found off the beaten track in a wild and rustic countryside setting; for the most part undiscovered and yet within only four minute’s-drive from the town of Wells. Designed around its original features there’s a distinctly urban feel to the space, with split-level resin flooring and steel beams contrasting the interior’s plush retro styling. A contemporary wood burning stove and chic furnishings add to the luxury of the open plan living area, and a modern kitchen complete with a cooker, fridge, and dishwasher means guests get to enjoy their time alone in complete comfort. A large folding door makes the most of the beautiful setting and rural views, flooding the home with natural light and inviting the fresh country air inside, and the deliberately darker colour palette that adorns the walls creates a romantic, sultry mood throughout. Carefully positioned lighting brings a unique atmosphere to every area within the space, and a gorgeous master bedroom featuring a king size bed and bespoke cowry shell chandelier; fashions a sumptuous retreat that’s perfectly suited to lazy mornings and breakfasts in bed. Outdoors there’s plenty more on offer with a spacious slate patio being the perfect place to enjoy the sunshine. Grab a throw and relax on a sun-lounger with a good book, or spend hours soaking in your own private hot tub without a care in the world.

  • The Bolt is such a beautiful and well thought out property, inside and out. Our hosts were helpful, communicative and made us feel so welcome and really like it was our home away from home for the weekend. Everything was flawless, such great attention to detail - everything you could want and incredibly clean. It really made a special weekend perfect. We can't wait to go back. Thank you!

  • Beautiful hideaway with stunning views. The lambs would come up to the wall from the neighbouring field providing a great backdrop whilst drinking coffee and planning the day ahead.

  • A beautiful, quiet and relaxing location. Decor was stylish but cosy, and it had all the amenities youd expect. The hot tub is an amazing addition. As the name suggests, it's a feels like a great hideaway. My friend and I wanted somewhere to escape our busy lives for a long weekend, and this was the perfect setting. The hosts were really friendly when we arrived and departed, but also allowed us our privacy during the stay. I would recommend and hope to go back!

  • Can't praise this Airbnb highly enough. I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Both Diane and her husband were fantastic hosts, couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Myself and 3 friends stayed here for a show at the Bath & Somerset showground that is within walking distance. Will definitely be booking this cottage again when looking for accommodation in the area. In summary, this cottage is spotlessly clean, very comfortable with all the facilities you'd need for a very enjoyable stay. Once again a big thank you to our hosts.

We live in a lovely quiet cul-de-sac just outside the town of Bruton, Somerset. Our pad (as we call it) is clean, light and airy with all the comforts of your own home. We have a very friendly well behaved dog who will also make you very welcome and two sleepy cats as they are showing their age. All guests will be made very welcome and accommodated to their needs. We have knowledge of the surrounding area for walking and touring the area - lots of lovely places within a short car journey.
‘Our pad’ is accessible to able people as the living accommodation is upstairs but once there you have full use of the facilities on offer to make you feel home from home.
The queen has recently visited our town, which you will find very quaint. There are two pubs in walking distant and we also have The Chapel which serves everything from coffee, pizza’s, bakery and lunch. We also have the Roth and bar grill and Matts kitchen which are both lovely places to eat using local quality produce. The town also has an array of art galleries, one on the high street and one just outside of town.

Watermill in glorious Somerset countryside; we have converted the spacious Grainstore (sleeps 3/4) and Miller's Cottage (sleeps 2) to create lovely places to stay. Price quoted is for the two interlinked internally, and rented together, but they are also designed to be taken individually at less cost. The Grainstore is £110 per night and Miller's Cottage is £85. (Photos show which is which). Airy in summer and cosy in winter.
Cutterne Mill is set within 7 acres of old apple orchard and pasture on river Alham. It still has working waterwheel, mill pond, sluice and leat. Wildlife abounds. The Grainstore and Miller's Cottage each have their own individual entrance and grassy terrace space for sitting and eating outside . The Grainstore is above the old cider house and cart shed, which provides sheltered parking. Miller's Cottage is an adjoining one up one down cottage. Baby friendly: we have travel cot, high chair, baby bath & blackout for window.
We are 3 miles from Castle Cary and 4 miles from Bruton, both lovely small towns full of individual shops. Nearby is the Cathedral city of Wells with amazing architecture also Glastonbury, Frome, Sherborne & Somerton all packed with good things to see and do. From March to December Frome has a Artisan Market on first Sunday of every month. Bath and Bristol within easy reach. National Trust Properties nearby: Stourhead, Lyte's Cary, Montacute and Barrington Court International Art Centre Hauser & Wirth is in Bruton with galleries, Roth Bar & Grill and garden by Piet Oudolf. Just opened is The Newt in Somerset (formerly Hadspen House) just outside Castle Cary, with a newly designed gardens, apple maze, cider making and bar, restaurant, park walks and more things planned. Longleat, Wincanton Races, Haynes Motor Museum, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Kilver Court Designer Outlet and Clarke's Shopping Village all short drives away. Bath & West Showground in only 2 miles down the road - agricultural shows plus unmissable weekend antique fairs and giant flea markets. National Nature Reserve at Westhay Moor for starling murmurations, Green Down for rare butterflies and wildflowers. Somerset is full of good food. For car-free eating and drinking the Natterjack pub is 5 minutes walk up the lane. Favourite pubs 3 Horseshoes at Batcombe; Queen's Head at Corton Denham, but plenty more. At the Chapel in Bruton is brilliant and open from Breakfast to Dinner. Michelin starred chef has just opened Osip in Bruton High Street.
  • True to description, Cutterne Mill is an idyllic spot. Philippa is an excellent host and really did think of everything. We hope to be back and I would highly recommend.

  • We had a lovely New Year stay at Cutterne Mill in Philippa's cosy and welcoming conversion. The place is easy to relax in and sympathetic to its surroundings. The log burner was a particular draw and the central living space was perfect for family living for a few days. We hope to be back someday.

This is an elegant and cosy double room in my family home in the heart of Bruton. With the High Street just a minutes walk away it is perfectly located to enjoy the local restaurants, pubs, and boutiques that Bruton has to offer. Hauser & Wirth art gallery is a 10 minute walk away and it is a short drive to Stourhead house and gardens, Sparkford Hall, Bath & West Showground and Glastonbury. The room is perfect for single guests or couples.
My house is a modest Victorian town house which I have lovingly renovated over the last few years. It has a traditional feel with a contemporary twist and is a light and calming space to be in. The room is situated at the back of the house on the first floor, overlooking the garden. There is a standard double bed, with cotton bed linen and goose feather duvet and pillows. There is a small wardrobe, a chair, a mirror, shelves and a bedside table with drawers. The shared bathroom is on the same floor and is modern and compact with a rain shower and bath.
  • This was the second time I stayed at Julia’s home and I would definitely recommend staying here. A lovely room in a friendly home, it is great for exploring Bruton and the surrounding area!

    Chris2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous host. Julia was there to greet me, the room was cosy and spotless, the bed super-comfy and the room totally silent at night. She even offered tea and coffee and cereal for breakfast. A great AirBnB host. Thank you.

    Gillian2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a lovely stay. Julia's place is great, as Bruton is so compact and accessible - just a short walk to everything. The room was lovely and Julia is welcoming.

  • Really enjoyed my stay.

    Dee2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's place was just perfect, very easy going and hospitable and so well priced for the location. Just a stumble to the town and perhaps 10 min to Hauser and Wirth. I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Bryony2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s great... Easy-going, open and ever-helpful (Julia was so ill when I stayed and yet couldn’t do enough...that’s a class host). Bruton is gloriously quaint and Julia’s sweet little pad is about 1 minute away. Super value for money...it ain’t king size but I’m 6’3 and snuck into an extremely comfortable bed.

    Paul2019-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Julia’s for a week while starting a new job in Bruton. As soon as I arrived Julia and her daughter were so welcoming and made me feel really at home. The room was light, clean and the bed was so comfortable. I highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area!

    Becks2019-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was in a great location and the room was clean, tidy and cosy. Julia was a great host, and made me feel welcome, she also posted me some items I had left in the room afterwards which was much appreciated! Would recommend. Thanks, Tim

A recently renovated 17th Century Mill House situated in a beautiful valley close to the Hauser & Wirth gallery, the Chapel at Bruton & Stourhead Gardens - 5 mins from Bruton. Ideal for a couples 5* weekend getaway or a family with children. Lovely walk across fields to the friendly village pub - the Three Horseshoes, and wonderful walks from the door over extensive open countryside. You'll have a beautiful river and a weir you can swim in just moments away. Child friendly and dog friendly.
Large open spaces with oak beams and exposed walls. Located on a 55 acre organic farm with open pasture (over which you are welcome to roam) and a river running through the middle with a swimming creek next to a small weir and jetty - ideal for swimming if you fancy it ! Large outside patio with table chairs and parasol and steamer chairs with pads. Large outdoor metal fire pit.
  • If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with walks right on your doorstep then this place is the dream! If I could stay forever then I would, as would our springer spaniel who had the best few days ever running up and down the hills and exploring the countryside that’s quite literally on the doorstep. The house had everything that we needed and is ideal as a base for visiting the local area, or perfect if it you just want to get away from it all for a few days. Highly recommend a visit to Matt’s Kitchen in Bruton for dinner 🍽

  • What a glorious space within an amazing setting. We had a lovely time relaxing in a house that had everything we could need while beautiful inside and out.

  • Absolutely gorgeous stay with views for miles. Great communication with instant replies from our hosts. Visited Glastonbury Christmas markets- brilliant. Thank you for the best weekend.

  • We had a lovely, relaxing weekend. The house is beautiful and very warm, it was lovely to have the wood burner ready to light when we arrived in the cold and dark. The location is very peaceful (you can only hear owls at night time) with beautiful views, and it's a very short drive to Bruton for some great Christmas shopping. Sarah was very quick to respond and answer any queries. The house was very clean and we would definitely stay again.

    Anna2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The space is lovely and spacious. Very stylish converted barn even with tennis court facilities and plenty of parking! We stayed over for a friend's wedding nearby and didn't get to spend enough time at this beautiful house. Directions provided were excellent as it would have been difficult to find otherwise.

    Hilda2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mill House is such a special place, a well designed home with a stunning backdrop. It's the perfect sized house for a relaxing holiday or family gathering. The 2 living spaces are large and oh so comfy and the kitchen has everything you need to make it feel like your home away from home! I'd recommend a stay here to anyone looking for a classic English countryside retreat.

    Jo2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and David were fantastic hosts. They were always fast to respond to any messages they received during our short stay. Their property is stunning, with some fantastic walks to Bruton and the local villages. It really is the perfect retreat for families or a small group of friends. I would highly recommend.

The accommodation is a self-contained annex decorated in vintage style. It includes a chunky pine double bed, pine bunk beds, sofa, games chest, Sky TV, wifi, bathroom (with bath and shower) and a well equipped kitchen with dining table. It fits up to 2 adults, 2 children and a baby. Travel cot, highchair, toys and bedding provided. Between 9-10am (Spring and Summer) daily, we can take you on a tour of our idyllic smallholding where you can feed and pet the sheep and feed and water our pigs.
Although this is listed as 1 bedroom, the bunk beds and double beds are in separate areas divided by a curtain. The TV is in the same area as the bunk beds. This may not be ideal if you’re planning to watch TV after the kids go to bed. It is great in the morning though if you fancy a lie-in!! The accommodation is clean and has been designed as a short term holiday let. It is light and airy by day and cosy by night. It includes every essential but with personality. We want everyone to enjoy their stay, learn more about animals and farming and return home as a friend, not a guest. This accommodation works best when used as a base to explore the lovely local area rather than as somewhere to stay indoors 24/7 particularly if it's fully occupied. The accommodation is designed to be quirky, comfortable and functional. We endeavour to clean and maintain everything to the best of our abilities and we do not charge for cleaning like many other hosts do. If you are looking for somewhere to stay that represents great value and will leave you with a wonderful set of memories, then we’re the place you’re looking for!
We have heaps of places to see, shop at, eat in and generally people watch all within 10-15 minutes drive. Our village has a small farm shop selling essentials or a host of supermarkets can be found in Glastonbury and Street. Our village is particularly beautiful and offers the opportunity to relax, walk, cycle, birdwatch and just enjoy the countryside! We provide a local paper so you can find what's on while you're here. Glastonbury has a beautiful Abbey, the newly transformed Rural Life Museum, wonderful cafes, quirky shops and of course the Tor. Wookey Hole Caves is a favourite for families. Longleat Safari Park and Bristol Zoo are essential if you love animals. If you're into boys toys then head to Haynes Motor Museum or the Fleet Air Arm Museum. Clarks Village Outlet Village is a dream destination for shoppers. If beautiful scenery are more your thing then head to Cheddar Gorge or Stourhead. If you like a bit of history and culture Wells and Bath are both within an hours drive, are stunning and have great shops too.
  • Ideally positioned for Glastonbury. Warm, clean and cosy. Would highly recommend. Would definitely go back. Thanks Libby and family.

  • Beautiful quirky home in the countryside. Very clean and stylish and had everything we needed to relax inside for the weekend during storm Dennis! Loved the little touches such as the hanging lights, a taste of Somerset produce and basket of wood for the fire.

  • Highly recommend this place. Really enjoyed my four nights whilst working in Somerset. Very comfortable accommodation. Somewhere I would like to return to, for pleasure next time. Thanks Kate

  • A warm and cosy space, Kate was a great host. This place is fantastic to get away from it all. Great location for nice walks and a stones throw away from some great pubs.

  • Perfect peaceful romantic getaway! Kate was so welcoming and helpful. The space was heavenly! Everything was provided and more. Extra thoughtful touches were so welcome. We really felt at home here. Can’t recommend highly enough! We are two non-drivers, but local cab firm were friendly and the Piggery is only 10-15 mins from local station. We hope to stay again! Thanks so much again for sharing your slice of country paradise with us!

    Holly2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is truly incredible and in my opinion, the photos do not show how beautiful this AirBnb is. My partner and I walked in and we were just immediately stunned, we both said out loud "Wow, what an absolutely incredible place!" - That reaction has never happened in the whole time I have been using Airbnb, it really is a remarkable find and I will always stay here if possible when visiting Somerset. I wish it had been available when I worked here several years ago. I guess its maybe obvious upon reflection but the barn is completely open plan which just provides such a a great feel and vibe, the open plan aspect is not really visible in photos and just makes the place magical as you have the wood burner which we used every night whilst making food in kitchen. We hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we did!!

    Matt2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant Airbnb - probably one of the best we have stayed in. Felt like a home from home with all the amenities you need to cook and stay in by the cosy fire. It was sparkling clean, spacious and the perfect base for exploring Somerset.

The hideaway is ideal for short breaks in beautiful countryside. It has: its own entrance so guests can come and go as they please; a super kingsized bed; ensuite shower room, and a kitchenette for guests to prepare their own breakfast (basics provided, including free range eggs). We are: a short walk from the fabulous Three Horseshoes pub; three miles from Bruton and Hauser and Wirth's gallery, four miles from the Bath and West Show Grounds; and seven miles from Glastonbury Festival's site.
The Hideaway is a large studio room with super kingsize bed , small sofa, log burner, kitchenette, en-suite shower room and its own entrance through a gate and up some stone steps (fairly steep). It is newly refurbished , clean and comfortable. The kitchenette is perfect for preparing breakfast or simple meals (Please note there is a double hob but no oven. We will provide tea, coffee, milk, local free range eggs, bread, butter etc. We will provide a basket of logs for this and give instructions on its safe use upon arrival (These are also detailed in the Hideaway guide book). The shower is powerful and refreshing but hot water is not unlimited so we kindly request that showers are kept to a reasonable length. Cot available upon request. (No TV)
Batcombe and the surrounding area sit peacefully in stunningly beautiful countryside. There are lots of lovely walks! We are within a short walk of the church, the fabulous pub and Penny Square Barn (A popular wedding and party venue). Bruton (including Hauser and Wirth Gallery and The Roth Bar are a short drive away, as is the Bath and West Show grounds. We are also only about 30 minute drive from Longleat and Haynes Motor Museum. Bath is 45-50 minutes away.
  • We had a super relaxed and comfortable stay at The Hideaway. Bob met us on arrival and helped us park on site. We were then welcomed into the flat by a roaring fire and a cupboard full of thoughtful items like tea, coffee, bread, milk and eggs which meant we didn’t have to rush out and source essentials for the morning. The location was great with a nice, cozy pub and pretty village a short walk away and we visited the amazing Wild Beer brewery and Westcombe Dairy around a 15 min walk away. The bed was very, very comfy and the shower nice and powerful and hot. It was a wonderfully clean and welcoming stay and we could have easily stayed longer.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience, and we were doing it with a 3 week old baby for a family wedding, but it was so easy staying here. Instant tranquility and we were very much left alone but knew we could ask Jessie or Bob anything had we needed to. Would love to return and explore some of the beautiful local area. The Hideaway was clean, sooo comfortable, cosy and incredibly thoughtfully stocked. Thank you so much for making what could have been pretty stressful weekend so smooth and peaceful.

    Nell2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights in this beautiful place. The room is lovely and spotless, the village very scenic, the hosts are knowledgable about the local area and very helpful. They very thoughtfully provide lots of extra food in the store cupboard in case you forget any thing as there is no local shop. The three horseshoes pub serves tasty food and is open all day at weekends. As with anywhere rural don’t forget your torch! A great break all round and I would very happily recommend The Hideaway.

    Irena2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic. Clean, comfortable and beautifully kept. We were attending a wedding at the nearby Penny Square Barn and The Hideaway is the perfect location! We easily walked to the wedding in 15-20 minutes and we're not the fittest of people. Bob and Jess are wonderful hosts. We couldn't have asked for more kind, accomodating people to greet and look after us for our stay. Bob shared local knowledge and his directions for getting to The Hideaway and for getting around Batcombe were perfect! We cannot wait to stay again!

    Elizabeth2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean hideaway in the middle of a cosy village, excellent hosts with plenty of food left by them for your stay! Only downside we felt were not having any games, radio etc with there being no TV or not even being able to get any phone signal whatsoever to use your phone/ipad to watch films etc, also the lanes are very tight, from country people ourselves it's no issue but I know alot of people would struggle driving down the tight, narrow lanes, but apart from that we had a lovely stay. Thanks 👍

    Poppy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a couple of nights for a wedding locally. The village is so beautiful and we had a wonderful meal at the local pub- the three horseshoes, where they were very welcoming and the food was great. The apartment was perfect! Great location, stylishly decorated, the most comfortable king size bed! Bob also left us eggs, milk, bread etc which is a lovely touch. Would stay again and recommend to others!

  • Great place with extremely attentive and helpful hosts. Lovely added touches and we really appreciated the freshly made bread and chocolate! Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed and it was in a great location for the places we wanted to visit.

  • When I reached this JEWEL of a place I’d been traveling in Europe for 5 weeks and I was exhausted from horrible beds and rooms that did not look as advertised. I can tell you the moment I drove into the adorable town I knew it was going to be special. When I arrived I felt as if I was greeted by an old friend. Annette had a fresh loaf of bread for me and helped me with my luggage into the room. When I walked I wanted to cry as the room was so adorable. So many personal touches! Everything had such a homey sense of style. Plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits, cereal, milk, yogurt, fruit and juice! And the butter for that bread was so great! The shower was sparkling clean (as was everything else). The bed was like home. During my 5 weeks of travel this bed was the best!!! But really. Annette and Warren are so sweet and lovely. So helpful with tips. They have a sweet book full of ideas for guests. They even offered to drive me to the pub so I could enjoy the local beer and not have to worry about driving home. ❤️❤️. The BEST! I’ll be back, even if I’m just driving though I’ll stop and say hello!!! Seriously the best Airbnb and hosts I have ever experienced!!!!

Reimagined and upstyled into a supremely modern urban retreat, this gorgeous home was once an unassuming rural barn and is now a fabulous hideout for two. Set within a picturesque corner of Somerset’s tranquil countryside, the historic town of Wells is just four minutes’ drive away and offers the option of boutique-style shopping excursions and fine dining, for those guests who are keen to venture out. The property itself is remote and offers a unique space from which to enjoy the sweeping landscape. Positioned within wild meadows and farmland its design allows it to seamlessly blend in, with a large glass door inviting the outside in and flooding the space with natural light and fresh country air. The property’s interior is an eclectic mix of retro styling and industrial chic with darker wall hues contrasting the soft, tactile furnishings and bespoke lighting reflecting off the architectural steel beams. The living area is open plan in layout, with a modern kitchen and dining area providing the perfect space to create and share meals together. Stretch out on the sofa in front of the wood burning stove and enjoy cosy evenings in; or snuggle up together and have your very own movie night in. The Beam has a wonderful master bedroom that’s complete with a comfy king size bed, reclaimed wooden bedframe and cowry shell chandelier; and the sleek en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower and rain head adds a further touch of luxury. This stunning pad is also pet-friendly, and the space outside is ideal for letting its four-legged guests stretch their legs! Tucked away in a corner of the private patio area is a bubbling hot tub and bistro table with seating; perfect for al fresco dining, or for enjoying a glass of wine together under the night sky.

  • The Beam is a fantastic place to stay, very stylish and luxurious with homely feel, full of extra touches, that you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. Graham and Emily are excellent friendly hosts. Brilliant location for exploring the surrounding towns. Would highly recomend.

    Jonathan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at The Beam, so many thoughtful touches were included - even down to dog treats and towels for our dog and a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates on arrival. The place itself is extremely stylish and well thought out, and the hot tub a fantastic addition. Even though Wells was only a 5 minute drive away (great for popping to the supermarket on arrival) you still have a real sense of getting away from it all with some great walks on the doorstep. We hope to return one day!

    Alexandra2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an incredible stay! The Beam was stylish, spotless and the hot tub was an added bonus! The host were very attentive but left us to our own devices! They were knowledgeable about the surrounding area and seemed really fun people. I would recommend anyone to stay here who fancies to get away from it all, you really do feel like your in another country. Never experienced anything like The Beam, this will definitely be hard to beat! We will be back!! Hannah, Stacey & Lola ❤️

  • It's nice. Location great for seeing different bits of country side, feels really clean /safe/warm. It's kind of basic - there's no Wi-Fi as far as I could make out, and kitchen has bare minimum, but that's reflected in the price. I'd stay again.

  • Very well situated, easy to reach. Ideal when you wish to visit Wells, Cheddar gorges and Glastonbury. Studio is very comfortable and has everything you could need. Perfect for two people. It is very quiet. Because there is no much light around the area, it is great for stargazing too!
