  • brilliant location to discover the surroundings of Christchurch. the cottage is private and is near the beautiful lake. Rosie and her husband know a lot about the area and are very hospitable. definitely recommended to spend your vacation here.

  • Rosie’s Garden Cottage is gorgeous- all in shades of whites and grey- a nice sitting out area amongst the flowers & lemon tree which makes the whole place so much bigger . Everything you need is supplied except shower gel and shampoo . Beautiful views of the sea it is right there at the window. Very quiet . We loved it and we recommend supper about Governors Bay Hotel which is a heritage building but nice and informal inside - about 4 minutes walk . It’s only 20 minutes to Christchurch but you feel miles away from the city. Also check her book that is there in bookshelf - Living with earthquakes it is a riveting & shocking read

  • This is a great spot to relax away from the hustle and bustle. Quaint accommodation in a nice spot tucked away . Governors Bay is a great kick off point to discover the Peninsula and only a quick trip to CHCH CBD.

  • Rosie's place is perfect if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few nights. The accommodation is surrounded by a beautiful garden, and every now and again you may get a visit from their chickens! I highly recommend that you have your own car so that you can explore Lyttelton and take the ferry over to Diamond Harbour and Quail Island. Thank you Rosie for being a wonderful host!

  • Rosie’s place is the perfect peaceful getaway. Even though it’s very close to some good swimming spots and nice walks, the garden itself is stunning and makes the whole atmosphere even more lovely. Highly recommend staying here for a relaxing weekend!

    Cassidy2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage with amazing views and a magical garden! Sitting on the veranda while you hear all the birds is so peaceful. We also enjoyed the short walk to the beach. Rosie is a lovely host, I got a deep insight on the situation after the earthquakes from her. Thank you so much for this and the wonderful time at your place! By the way: great comfy bed, wonderful hot shower, fast wifi... perfect place to be...

    Kate2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts and room with a beautiful view of the bay. Shared bathroom was attached to the bedroom with a door so it felt pretty private. They have dogs and cats - I'm allergic to cats but love dogs and Karen was very good about keeping the cats away and allowing the dogs to hang out with us. Daisy the puppy was adorable and Harry was a friendly old fella. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

    Anne2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy's accommodation is a little out of the way from Christchurch, but in a very quiet setting, not far from the sea, and was also an ideal base for our next day trip to explore the Banks Peninsula. The apartment is very spacious and was also absolutely clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast in the nearby Cafe 'Harbor House' with a view of the sea and we can only recommend it like Cathy's apartment.

  • Top of our list - this airbnb is excellent value for money! A lovely spacious apartment, just as described. The sloping floor is unusual, but doesn't cause any problems. Good info about the area is provided in the apartment. Easy to reach with the number 17 bus. The drive is very steep! however there is plenty of space to park on the road.

    Chris2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 3 nights. The communication was great and Ailsa very helpful. Would stay at her place again, even though with public transport it's a bit pricey (however there's a bus going directly into the city centre)

The Tin Kingfisher is a recently built sleepout made from recycled materials. It is situated in a sheltered, sunny back garden under a walnut tree in a semi rural valley setting. Bathroom / toilet facilities and laundry are in the family home and accessed via the garden from an outside door.Access to the property is down a short, moderately steep driveway. There are a total of 11 steps as you make your way along a brick path to the back garden.
The Tin Kingfisher would be great for couples or a single who would enjoy a place to stop over for a good night's rest, and would be happy to eat at one of the many local restaurants. It would also suit backpackers who may want to explore Akoroa or as a stop over on their tour of the South Island. It is easy access to the city center (20 minutes by car), and Gondola (5 minutes by car or a 12 minute walk) or only a 1.5hr drive to Porter Heights ski field. Sumner Beach is 10 minutes while access to mountain bike tracks is only 15-20 minutes drive to the top of the hill.
Heathcote Valley is 15 mins from the city centre, 10 mins from Sumner Beach and 5 mins from Lyttelton by car. For travel to or from the airport allow 40-50 minutes. The Gondola provides stunning views of Christchurch and is a 15 minute walk or 2 minutes by car. A supermarket and a number of restaurants are available within a 5-15 min drive. The Valley Inn also provides meals as well as being the local wateringhole, it is a 10 minute walk away. We also have coffee roasted on site at Upshot a local cafe, on Bridle Path Road. A new cafe, hairdresser and conveinance store has just opened and is a 5 minute walk on Port Hills Road. Mountain bike and walking/running tracks are also easily accessible on the surrounding rural hillsides of Heathcote Valley. Ferrymead Heritage Park is a 10 min walk away. Sports grounds (soccer, cricket, tennis etc ) are also nearby. Alongside the Heathcote bowling green is the children's playpark which is a great meeting place. There is also a swap a book fridge on Martin dales Road and a library in the community building on Bridle Path Road.
  • A great quirky space that was exactly as advertised.

    Jodelle2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place makes you feel right at home, an intimate space in a green oasis that has been constructed and build with love and care. It was a real pleasure to finish my trip in New Zealand here, unwinding in a calm environment. Lovely meeting you Catherine and thanks for our nice talk in the garden!

    Renée2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Not 15 minutes out of the city centre but the Tin Kingfisher feels akin to Narnia. An absolutely surreal experience staying in the Valley. Thank you to Catherine for opening up her doors and giving the discerning traveller a picture perfect place to rest their heads.

Tucked in at the base of the Port Hills, Tussock Hill Farm is situated on 35 acres of rolling pasture offering a superb rural escape while only 10 minutes drive from central Christchurch. The Tiny Tussock is nestled on the hill in the beautiful Avoca Valley. Located down a long drive, following the Avoca stream and native bush, this unique space provides privacy and tranquility. With cows and sheep roaming the paddocks, feel free to explore all that the farm has to offer.
The Tiny Tussock is a well equipped and completely self-contained guesthouse which is off the grid and run by solar power. Enjoy the rustic deck and bbq area as well as a late night soak in the outdoor bath, under the stars. No oven available however, we have a gas cooktop, toaster, jug and BBQ. No WiFi.
Perfectly located, the Tiny Tussock is close to many local amenities, cafes and eateries of Ferrymead, Sumner Village and Lyttelton. The Tannery is also within minutes, offering boutique shopping, restaurants and deluxe cinema. There are numerous outdoor activities within close proximity. We have many great walkways along the Port Hills, including the well known Rapaki track- which follows down the ridge and connects to the top of Tussock Hill Farm. The Port Hills are also renowned for their vast selection of mountain bike tracks, the adventure park being the ultimate playground. The number 28 bus is available on Port Hills road which takes you directly to and from the bus interchange in the central city. You may however, choose to go in the opposite direction which take you to the Lyttelton wharf. Stop off and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the port’s Sunday market or try out the numerous alternative eateries and bars. The popular Christchurch gondola is also located along this route. A must-do experience with spectacular views of the cityscape, Canterbury plains and the high peaks of the Southern Alps.
  • A great wee spot - you feel as though you’re in the middle of the country yet only 20 minutes from city.

    Maria2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best Airbnb we have stayed in. The tiny house is modern, clean and very comfortable. It is in a beautiful location on a farm but still very close to Christchurch central. Kate is a brilliant host & we will definitely stay again next time we are in Christchurch

    Dylan2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kates place was clean, stylish and easy to find 👌🏼 We relaxed outside on the patio with wine and cheese looking over the farm and Christchurch Hills - perfect way to end our trip☀️ if your looking for accommodation I would highly recommend staying here - for travellers without a car there is a bus only 10 minutes walking from the gate so super easy to get to and from the farm. Also, if you have time definitely consider relaxing in the bathtub with a coffee or wine - perfect!

A lovely private unit in a quiet suburb surrounded by the Cashmere Hills (about 22 minutes drive from the airport). Included is a good sized bedroom with a queen bed, renovated full bathroom and separate lounge with sofa bed. The kitchenette includes a fridge, convection microwave, dual cook-top, washing machine and other small appliances. If there is anything else you need to know, just message me.
There is a quiet deck area where you can sit and enjoy a hot or cold beverage of your choice. The deck then leads down to a grassed garden area.
The Cashmere Hills provide lots of walks, cycle tracks and drives to Lyttleton Port, around the bays and Banks Peninsula including the French inspired Akaroa township. Close by an Adventure Park which has a chairlift which takes you and your mountain bike to the top of the hill and different grade routes to go back down. There are lots of Markets and Malls in the area for shopping. Five minutes drive up the hill is the Sign of the Kiwi cafe, sit outside and take in the panoramic view of Christchurch while sipping gorgeous coffee and enjoying one of NZ's best date scones!

  • Awesome stay at Theadora’s place for two nights. Super clean and she makes you feel like you’re right at home. Just a short trip into the city but far enough out if you just want to relax. After road tripping for three weeks in a van could not have asked for a better place to spend a few nights before flying to Auckland. 25 minute Uber to the airport was nice also. Thank you again

    Christopher2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thea's guest suite is private, comfortable, absolutely sparkling clean, with very nice interior space for the rainy days (sitting room with comfy couch, chair) and exterior deck with chairs and table for lovely mornings or evenings. I would stay at Thea's for a day, a week, a month, it's just that perfect. Oh, and let's not forget how easy is to get anywhere in the area from Birdwood. Thank you, Thea, for the extra touches and warm welcome!

Govenors Bay is located 20 minutes and another world away from ChCh. My home is in the town's centre, only 50m from Governors Bay Hotel (great atmosphere and menu), and also from She Universe (cafe/restaurant). The port of Lyttelton is only 8km away (highly recommend Saturday morning markets there). There is a network of walking tracks including foreshore and hills very close by, and a small bay known to locals which is good for swimming when it is a nice day and high tide.
A cosy space tucked away from the street, but next door to the Governors Bay Hotel and She Universe (cafe/restaurant). The views (especially when the sun does its wonders in the early morning or evening) are spectacular!
Governors Bay is a small community with a population of 800 people. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are plenty of beautiful tracks and walkways to take advantage of. If you enjoy good food, we have two options, both VERY good. The local hotel is super popular on Thursday and Friday nights with the locals, and all day Saturday and Sundays especially when the weather is fine. She Universe make the best coffee and chocolates... really! They even export their chocolates.
  • Great place, fantastic views and lovely host

  • I can only agree with the very positive comments of the other guests. Bedroom and bathroom are spacious, very clean and separated from the large living and kitchen area by a small hallway. The view from the living area is fantastic. Frances is very friendly and helpful. I felt very welcome with her. Your dog is pleasantly alive at first contact, but then also very well behaved, calm and sweet. Frances apartment is particularly suitable as a first or last stop for a trip to New Zealand. It is about 40 minutes to the airport and it is located in a beautiful suburb of Christchurch, which can be reached via a pass road. From here you can also explore the Banks Peninsula. Definitely plan more than one night!

    Claus2019-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Frances has an amazing home! We loved playing with her dog and relaxing outside watching the bay. The room is super tidy and clean and the private bathroom is just amazing! You got everything you need. Frances is a lovely host, we really enjoyed having her around. Recommendation!

    Lea2019-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • You come to Frances’ house through a stunning garden and will more than likely be greeted by her friendly and intelligent Dalmatian dog - Chica. A stylish, pristine place with panoramic views of the bay from the balcony, what more can you possibly ask for? Well, Frances’ hospitality is second to none - though we stayed for only one night, we felt like we’d made a friend by the end of it. Thanks Frances for welcoming us so openly into your home, was the perfect end to a holiday of a lifetime in New Zealand. Hope to be back in the future, and will definitely prolong our stay next time.

    David2019-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Frances has a beautiful home with a stunning view. Also you have everything you need, a pretty room and a separate bathroom. Frances is a perfect host, she makes you feel like your at home and is a really kind-hearted person. Had a great stay :)

  • Extraordinary location close to Christchurch in beautiful nature. You have lots of birds around and a very nice puppy dog. Abbey and her husband gave us a very warm welcome. The location is very spacious and nice. A modern house with everything you need We enjoyed it a lot and it was a pity that we only could stay for one night. The recommendation of the Governors Bay Pub was great -it´s just a 5min drive to the bay and we had excellent food in very nice atmosphere including seaview. We would love to come back on our next tour in NZ.

  • We stayed at Leisa's apartment for 2 nights while we explored and got lost in Christchurch. We enjoyed our stay there, everything we needed , stylish, nice light lounge that looked out to the back yard, and swimming pool. Comfy bed. Leisa came and met us after we had let ourselves in, Leisa is a lovely bubbly host. We also met Leisas son and hubby. We also met their 2 lovely dogs. I miss my pets when we are away so having a talk and pat with their dogs was great therapy. They have the biggest impressive gum tree in their back yard that I've ever seen. Speedy recovery Leisa. Regards, Shona & Marty

    Shona2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Leisa's place is very well located, stylish, quiet and cosy. We enjoy being close to the city center and relaxing in the bathtub after a long hike. Leisa and her family will make us feel welcome and we really enjoyed spending some time with Bear and Bessy, the dogs of the house. We would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone visiting Christchurch.

  • Lovely small flat with a nice view which is immediately outside the main house. It was nice that we had the whole space to ourselves as Joke wasn’t in, but it might feel overlooked with the main house occupied. Despite having two small sons and a beautiful house, both hosts made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Best air BnB in Christchurch. Also a short walk to the park. Touches like breakfast left for us, breakables removed form kids height, beautifully clean. Absolutely great stay, thanks so much.

The caravan kitchen is fully equipped for a comfortable stay. A gas heated outdoor shower and flushing toilet are situated down a small path in the forest. BBQ and outdoor seating in a small private garden.
Tai Tapu is a lovely, scenic area close to the Port Hills. All the amenities are in Halswell which is only 3km away, but we are surrounded by farmland. There are a couple of really nice cafes nearby, plenty of cycling to be done, a brand new library, supermarket and 2 banks.

  • We loved our stay in the cosy caravan. It was a perfect little gem away from the world and wifi that we needed. The caravan comfortably slept the 2 of us and we were able to have a nice hot shower each day. The location was perfect for us (4 mins away from Pemberton gardens) where we attended a wedding. Katherine is an awesome host who went above and beyond for us without hesitation. Would happily stay here again. Great value!

A nice relaxing bush setting for your stay. You can have breakfast outdoors with the bellbirds or an evening meal. We are only an hours walk along a beach track to the local Governors Bay hotel or She Universe cafe ( which makes the best hot chocolate in town) , or else it is 5 minutes drive. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery and close to the Port Hill walking tracks and mountain bike trails.
It is mainly a native garden that is full of bird life and art and craft. Your veranda is surrounded by bush and a lovely place to relax.
At the end of our lane way there is a lovely walk along the foreshore from Allandale to Governors Bay.(so there is a cool drink or coffee when you get there) It is all flat and takes about 45mins one way. The shore is mostly mudflats which attract the wading birds, such as herons, spoonbills, ducks Canadian geese, oyster catchers and kingfishers. Some of the local attractions are the Blacksmith business , and the food van on the corner of Gebbies pass and Governors bay Rd. And Orton Bradley Park, which has a children's playground, large picnic areas, an arboretum and a cafe. It is about 1.5 hrs to the picturesque Akaroa, which is a nice day trip.
  • It’s a very nice and quite palace. It’s very easy to find and enter. The hosts are very kind who prepare a lot for us and give us enough privacy. My kid was very happy with everything here especially the dog blue, hens, sheep..! It’s a very nice and healthy life style here and recommend strongly!

  • What an amazing place and hosts! Our family of four stayed for a week at Denise and Reg’s beautiful retreat. The house was perfect, very comfortable and set in a beautiful location. The house and property are full of little fun details that made it so fun, we loved exploring and being a part of it all. The hosts are genuinely kind, incredible people who made us feel very welcome and shared their time and knowledge with our family. We were very sad to leave! Thank you again!

  • This is a must! A bit out of town, of course, but well worth it if you love being away from the city and surrounded by beautiful gardens, plants, animals and nature. That, plus the space itself, were outstanding and I highly recommend. Thank you!

A light breakfast of coffee, tea, cereal and toast is included. There is unlimited wifi (Fibre). Across the road you have the park and Pioneer Recreation Centre. We are the proud owners and caretakers of a grand old 1890s villa here on Canterbury St, located on a quiet lane in the center of Lyttelton. It is just a 5 minute walk to access the supermarket, bars, shops, restaurants, famous farmers market, public transportation, ferry to Diamond Harbour and Quail Island. We are a friendly and easy-going couple looking forward to meeting new people and helping them enjoy their time here in the quaint port town of Lyttelton.
We are passionate about the history of our town and our beautiful home, and feel that 57 Canterbury St is a unique place to stay. We are passionate about the history of our town and our beautiful home, and feel that 57 Canterbury St is a unique place to stay. The land was first developed by Samuel Gundry who arrived in Lyttelton abroad the ‘Steadfast’ arriving in Lyttelton in June 1 8 5 1. The first and remaining dwelling was built in July Nineteen hundred and four by Albert Thomas Mutton. Thomas was known as the Carpenter of London St and went on to own 6 properties in Lyttelton. He built houses and sold them on easy terms and kept a grocery store as well. He also built a school and houses in nearby Rapaki for the local iwi. Thomas his wife Ruby and three sons William, James and Thomas resided at this address for some years after it was built up until Nineteen Nineteen according to the Electoral roll. In the 10 years I have lived at this beautiful property, I have along with the help of my husband created rambling gardens producing organic veggies and with 7 voluptuous chickens have a bountiful supply of free range eggs. We have more than our family can consume and would like to share our spoils with our guests offering breakfast for extra $12pp on weekends. There will be a selection of breads to go with your choice of eggs, garden greens, toasted nuts & seeds and homemade condiments plus coffee or tea. In summer we host an online ‘road side stall’ selling fresh produce and condiments grown and made right here with all proceeds going back into the land and maintenance of this grand old girl on Canterbury St that has stood strong for over 100 years. We also have 4 very friendly cats who love a cuddle or 10 and often sit on the mailbox awaiting friends who will pat them and there human mum who will feed them :)
Lyttelton is a cute port town that is bustling with activity, and boasts some of the best restaurants in Christchurch. There are several great bars in Lyttelton and it is a lively place on the weekends. From Lyttelton there is access to the entire Banks Peninsula, including the iconic Quail Island and Diamond Harbour. There are plenty of great walks around and the hills of Lyttelton that will provide a fantastic workout for even the seasoned hiker. Explore the bush and forest walks via the Urumau Loop and the Whakaupo Loop, A bracing loop walk with great views that takes you up through Whakaraupo Reserve on the Stan Helms Track and back down the historic Bridle Path.
  • A wonderfully relaxed and friendly place, nothing is a problem. A lovely old house in a great area. Very comfortable beds, we certainly hope to be back. Lyttleton is such a nice town, and a brilliant farmers market!!

    Angy2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This home is as unique as it gets. In Lyttelton you can get everything you need, but if you want to go in town it’s also just a 20min drive/ 40min bus ride. Outstanding hospitality. Didn’t want to leave, but had to. I‘ll be back a 100%.

    Lenn-Vincent2020-02-27T00:00:00Z

  • Debbie's house is so quirky, I loved all the things from bygone eras. There are clocks and pictures on the wall to make it feel like you are in the 1940's. The room is very big so you have lots of space and the bed is comfortable. I only spent one night as I am traveling but I felt very at home. Debbie introduced me to her family and the conversation was easy, interesting and a lot of fun. I liked the area, it is near a lovely bay where you can swim or children can paddle safely I really liked the bathroom with the antique sink surround. I would definitely stay with Debbie again.

  • This place instantly felt like home! Staying here calmed me down so much, it brought me closer to myself and it was the perfect start of three months on this beautiful island. The owners are super relaxed, the place and location is beautiful including garden and amazing cats. The area is really good for hiking, the village is just super cute. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing your meals, I even was able to use some fresh zucchini and tomatoes from the garden. I honestly loved it and I am pretty sure I will come back at the end of my travels. Thank you for sharing your home!

My home is situated about 10 mins drive (4km) from the city center or easy bus ride-6 mins walk to bus stop. It is approx 20 mins drive (16km) from the airport. Close to shops, restaurants & the Port hills - for biking and walking. I don't charge a cleaning fee. There are 2 big bedrooms with a queen bed in each and you are welcome to cook in my kitchen. A back yard with a sunny deck to relax on. Unlimited WIFI and Netflix. If booking for 2 and want a room each will need to book for 3. .
My home is to be your home while you are here and you will have full use of my home and private sunny back yard. There is only me living here so will be plenty of room for us all. I have 2 bedrooms on Airbnb but will only ever have one group staying at one time. If only 2 guest but wish to use both bedrooms then this will count as extra person above the set rate for 2 people eg 3 person rate. So will need to book as 3 people so I know to prepare second room and so the fee is correct
The neighbourhood is quiet and situated at the bottom of the Port Hills which have a number of walking and bike tracks. There are a number of restaurants and bar close by and only 5km from the city centre. Our neighborhood has a safe feeling good for walks in the evening or to enjoy the nearby parks and reserves. There is also a restaurant/cafe about 50m down the road that does great food and coffee

Unavailable for the near future (the tiny house is now somebody’s home), sorry!
The tiny house is simple, rustic and relaxed. Take the time to enjoy being in nature, appreciate people's company without distractions, and unwind.
Diamond Harbour is a great holiday destination. Come and enjoy our local beaches, walking tracks, Orton Bradley Park (including adventure playgrounds and mountain biking), rock climbing, kayaking, sailing and more!
  • Me and my partner loved our stay, so relaxing and completely out of the hussle of life. We stayed for two nights and wished it could of been a week. Plenty of things to do and go look at if you like that too. Recommend it to anyone and we’ll definitely be going back. Lovely helpful hosts just leave you to it lots of privacy. The outdoor bath and shower are amazingly good at night. Give it a try you’ll be very happy you did.

The room was wonderful and beds super comfy. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Melva - Thanks for everything, we really appreciate it.

  • The room is situated at the ground floor with its own shower and toilet. It enjoys a picturesque garden view across a little river. The room is quiet and cozy, and bed comfortable. Next door there are local shops for coffee and takeaway food. I enjoyed jogging along the well-maintained parks and bushes nearby along the river, a 5-km return trip. It is also a short drive to the Adventure Park and decent bush walks such as Westmorland East Valley Reserve and Halswell Quarry Park. Melva is nice and hospitable - enjoyed the chats with her over the breakfasts. It is a great place to stay for a little price - best value I’ve ever found. Will definitely come back and I strongly recommend it!

    Quiet and peaceful
  • Fantastic hosting from a great couple. Wayne and Elliott, thank you for being so welcoming, accommodating and lovely throughout our stay. It really was a pleasure getting to know you both! The house is really close to the city but far enough away that you don’t get disturbed by the hustle and bustle and with shops nearby. Both Elliott and Wayne went above and beyond and I’d recommend their place to anyone. We feel a past review was quite unfair, please remember you’re a guest in someone’s house not a guest in a hotel. These guys are great, so don’t be put off! :)

  • Wayne's place was in an excellent location. The room was clean, comfortable and everything we needed for our stop in Christchurch.

  • We stayed here a few nights after flying into Christchurch, before a NZ road trip, it’s a good location in the city, we walked everywhere during our stay. It’s a nice room, and Wayne was great! If you’re flying in, and don’t want to take the bus, I’d recommend Wayne’s airport pickup. It’s cheaper than you’d pay for an Uber or taxi.

    brian2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night at Wayne's place. It was very good. Wayne is very receptive and the explanations are clear. Attention marks in the room, tea coffee water, ... Contrary to some comments we were not cold. The accommodation is about 30 minutes from the city center. All around there are fast foods, pubs, bakery, .... We thank and recommend !!!

  • Superb treasure masters and treasure landlords, small gardens more exquisite than the botanical gardens. The landlord and his warm male roommates who are so nice and poor, Boob and Hammer are also super cute fluffy super decompression. There are lovely laying quails, and the whole house is clean and tidy. Compared to the attractions of Christchurch, this famous place can play all day. I really can't understand those who give bad reviews! Would stay here again if given the opportunity!

  • Very lovely host ☺️

  • This is a beautiful house full of history. The location was calm, the atmosphere was serene and peaceful. It is just outside of Christchurch, so it's away from the traffic and along the hills of Lyttelton, which makes it a lovely quiet place to stay. Debbie and her family are very warm and friendly, and made sure I had everything I needed. Just a wonderful experience overall and I would and recommend it to anyone with any interest in historical houses. I would love to go back next time I visit NZ!

  • We had a great time staying with Debbie and her partner. Super welcoming, and there were so many interesting quirky things all around the house! The location is fantastic, just a few blocks to restaurants and cafes and a little supermarket. Really enjoyed the backyard, too! Best tomatoes ever!!

  • Amazing place filled with amazing people. Deb and Dan made me feel welcome the moment I stepped into the house, they've been great hosts, very warm and considerate, easy to chat to and always happy to help with any question I had. Communication has been super easy in general, from the first contact on Airbnb really. The house itself is beautiful too, the big garden is a gem and the rooms are very specious and beautifully decorated. I'd definitely wanna stay with them again on another visit to Lyttelton.

  • Debbie and Dan are lovely hosts of a wonderful house in Lytellton. We had sunny, relaxed and just beautiful days here. If we'll be back in New Zealand we'll definitely meet them again. Best things: - Most comfortable Kingsize bed ever - Three cute cats in a wonderful garden near the ocean - Debbie and Dan <3

  • Debbie was such a welcoming host, it was a pleasure to stay with her and the cute cats :) everything was great, from communication to the room to the location of the house. Especially the garden was perfect for some relaxed evenings or breakfasts in the sun :) Thanks for having us, we absolutely enjoyed our last few days in New Zealand!

  • Really enjoyed my stay at Debbie & Dan's. What a grand old house with lots of character and a very welcoming atmosphere. The garden is a relaxing haven, complete with cats. Perfect space for a cup of tea in the sun. The room was clean and comfy with a ginourmous bed. Slept extremely well there. Debbie and Dan were warm and genuine hosts. They pointed me to the Farmer's Market in Lyttleton on Saturday, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The Lyttleton area is lovely. Great location, beautiful hills, and harbour. Easy ride into Christchurch. So sad my stay was so short, but I enjoyed every moment of it.

  • The apartment was lovely and clean with a wonderful view of Christchurch night. Barry was a real character.

    Dale2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at Barry & Sue's place in Feb. The unit is as pictured. Only a few things to note; the kitchen has no window (but has an extractor) and hence, need to be picky on what to cook. The two flights of stairs down to the unit might be a challenge if you have super big heavy luggages. Other than that, everything else is perfect. They have an amazing garden with all sorts of fruit trees, flowers, plants...lovely to explore. I love just standing at the balcony/patio looking at the view. Although Barry and Sue live above the unit, we barely hear them. A very nice place that I will consider coming back to if I am ever back to Christchurch.

  • We had an amazing this in this beautiful Cashmere apartment, the view is just amazing at all times of the day!! This place had everything we needed and felt so spacious! We would definitely recommend this apartment if you are visiting Christchurch, there is a bus stop at the end of the road (about a 7 minute walk) which goes directly to the center of Christchurch!
