The Little Barn, Gretton is a recently refurbished barn conversion in a farm setting within 7 acres of the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. With space to sleep up to 5 adults (one on folding bed). The property is within easy reach of a host of local beauty spots .
The Little Barn is a beautiful building crafted from local stone, in an isolated farm setting and decorated in a modern, cosy style. The space consists of a roomy open plan lounge dining area with high ceilings that has a super comfy sofa and armchairs , window seats and a television with full sky tv package. As well as central heating there is also a log burner to help you to unwind after an exciting day exploring the local area or after a visit to our local pub 3 miles away (they do a cracking roast). The lounge also has a murphy bed behind the t.v wall which has two single beds within it that is easily folded away during the day for the extra space if needed. An additional folding bed can be added to this room too. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster , quality tablewear and pans . It has everything you need to create whatever culinary delights you wish. We supply tea bags, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, salt, pepper and cleaning products. The main bathroom is also downstairs and includes a rainwater shower, toilet and basin ,high end shampoo, conditioner and shower gel . Upstairs you will find a calm and comfortable double bedroom with an en suite toilet and sink. The room is set in to the open plan loft space giving it an extra special something and fantastic views out over the fields. There is just enough space to put an extra folding bed in here or you may bring your own travel cot if you have an infant. At night the farm is incredibly quiet and we often get visited by various forms of the local wildlife including deer, owls, badgers and rabbits. Our base price is for up to 4 guests. If there a 5 of you we will provide a folding bed with linen and towels for an extra £10 per night. There is one shower and a toilet downstairs and a further toilet upstairs. For guests competing in the local equestrian events at Rockingham Castle, we have ample space to park a horse box and grazing may be available. The Barn is joined to our main house but is completely private. It has it's own access with a key in a key safe. Note: For the fire we will provide complimentary fuel for guests to light a fire on the first day of their stay, further fuel can be purchased for £5. Please request this when booking or message us when you are staying here. There will be an additional charge of £10 per night if your booking includes pets (up to 2 dogs)
The Little Barn is just under 2 miles from the lovely village of Gretton which has a local coffee shop and 2 pubs, both of which offer delicious meals and a range of drinks. It's also only about 3 miles to the outskirts of Corby where you will find a shopping park that includes a large Asda and a Marks and Spencer’s food hall. In the main town are your usual shops and amenities such as Cinema, leisure centre, theatre and restaurants. In terms of areas of interest we are close to a whole range of picturesque villages and towns including the following: Oakham - the county town of Rutland Uppingham - a lovely country market town with great selection of privately owned shops, especially antiques if that's your thing. Market on Fridays. Rockingham - we recommend a trip to the castle, the view from the terrace is beautiful. Burleigh house, a magnificent stately home with beautiful grounds and home to the famous horse trials. Fineshade Wood - a great local woodland with walks of a variety of difficulty levels and a couple of nice play areas for the children. Rutland Water - a fab day out including lovely walks, watersports and even a waterside restaurant. Corby Olympic swimming pool- many important events are held here. Adrenaline Alley skate park.

  • Thankyou for a fabulous stay

    Michelle2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Barn is a fantastic option if you are looking to stay in this area. Nothing is too much bother for Susan and the acoomodation was spotlessly clean with more provisions and little touches than we expected. Thank you.

    Anna2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. My two children 5 and 7 loved it. There was plenty of space for us all to relax. The barn had everything we needed and a lovely atmosphere.

    Victoria2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Little Barn for just one night on a visit to family in the area, but it was perfect for our needs and so welcoming and cosy on a very stormy night. It’s so well designed, and our teenage daughters loved the Murphy bed! Perfect for our dog too - even in the storm we managed a walk in the fields before we left. Susan has thought of everything - hope we can come back one day!

Lovely touches of it being warm (and can change the heating), complimentary breakfast and just generally how everything’s set up. We’d definitely return if we were ever in the area again

  • I extended my stay, as i felt extremely comfortable in Richards house. Close to everything, friendly place, big room, excellent facilities and a “make yourself at home” type of airbnb. Very highly recommended. 100%

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Richards airbnb was ideal for me. Close to town center with everything you need (fridge, microwave, cooking and washing facilities) the garden is huge and would be great in the summer. Considering there are 4 other people in the house, it is remarkably clean & organised. . The room itself is large with a comfortable bed and quality furniture. I felt very much at home here. Cleaning materials are provided too. Can highly recommend Richards place to travellers who are looking for value plus great facilities. Would 100% stay here again.

A pint of fresh milk will be available in the fridge. All of these complimentary items are provided as standard. !!CHILDREN!! : Due to the nature of the property, especially at the Mezzanine level, while we encourage "Babes~in~arms", but we do not feel it suitable for "mobile" children between 9 months and 7 years old. Sorry. Young babies and children aged 8 and over are welcome. For reasons of safety due to the fact that there is a Mezzanine floor above ground level separated only by a handrail and glass panel to (adult) waist height young children may be at risk of falling if they climb onto the rail. These stipulations are for general guidance only. Obviously it is your responsibility to ensure your children's safety. PLEASE ASK if you have any questions about this aspect. We are always happy to help with advice/further photos etc. Please also see the full range of photos in the listing. Because we have highlighted the potential dangers we accept no responsibility for injury or other consequence of a fall accidental or otherwise. Clearly the property is unsuitable for those of any age who sleepwalk. Although it is open plan it is not possible to see the bed in the other room when you are in bed yourself nor is it possible to see the beds properly from downstairs. Your child's safety is your own responsibility at all times. BABES~IN~ARMS: We have a good range of equipment for babies staying at The Chapel including a travel cot / change table / bassinet combo with bedding, a secure high chair, Jogger City Mini push chair (suitable from birth), age appropriate cutlery and crockery, play mat, change mat with replacement washable covers and a baby bath with bath toys. Hopefully this will help reduce the space taken up in your car for the journey here! We have some suitable cot linen, blankets, a sleep bag and towels, but you'll probably want to bring your own in addition. All of the baby equipment is of a good quality and is checked and steam cleaned before and after each use. Please let us know when you book if you would like to use these facilities so that we may prepare them ahead of your arrival. DOGS & PETS: Sorry, but due to the nature of the property and lack of enclosed garden, we do not feel it suitable for animals to stay. CHANGE OVER DAY: Generally the change over day is Friday, however for those long weekenders or mid-week breaks Monday can be arranged. Please feel free to contact us if another day would be preferable and we'll see what we can do. Arrive: anytime after 3.00 PM on a Friday or 4.00 PM on other days. The Chapel may be ready earlier on occasion and we are happy to text you if you let us know in advance that you'd like to know if this is the case. Vacate: before 10:15am. The Chapel is immaculately presented and professionally cleaned and checked between each visit. In addition to this there is no need to remember to put the bins out for collection as this will also be done for you. WI-FI / INTERNET ACCESS: Wi-fi / Internet access is available. Details for connection are found in the information welcome pack. This also means you can use the smart tv to access catch up tv using BBC iplayer, itv player, All4 etc. HEATING: Each of the main areas of The Chapel has its own individually controllable energy efficient electric heater (the night stores in some of the photos have been replaced) which is pre-programmed, but allows you to easily override the settings should you need to. For those of you who wish to, the wood burning stove is available for use. We ask that you only use the complimentary well seasoned wood and kindling provided. Additional wood can be purchased for a (small economical) fee during your stay.
The Chapel is in Wing, a modest traditional village within the glorious Rutland countryside. The local pub - The King's Arms - is just a few minutes walk and excellent for food and drink. Wing situated between the county town of Oakham and the near by town of Uppingham, both being historic market towns. Each town and the villages which surround them are of much interest from an historical and architectural point of view as well as the many independent specialist shops, museums, art galleries, hostelries, garden nurseries, restaurants, cafes and tea rooms. In Wing you will find The Kings Arms Inn and Restaurant, less than a 3 minute walk from the door, which provides locally sourced food and ale alongside roaring open fires and a short walk to the edge of the village you’ll find yourself at Wing Hall where you can sample the delights of the Farm and Village Shop. On Sundays you can enjoy afternoon tea at the village hall and various attractions throughout the year. The South Shore of Rutland Water is well within a 10 minute car journey with easy access to its various attractions such as sailing and water sports facilities, cycle tracks, bird-watching, fishing lodge, walking, climbing wall, reptile and bug zoo, crazy golf etc, etc. The Rutland countryside’s highways and byways are ideal for cycling and walking alike and there is a multitude of footpaths and bridleways which crisscross the agricultural land between the towns, villages and hamlets. For fishing, walking and cycling, the Eye Brook reservoir is a 13 minute drive and Wakerley Woods is 15 minutes away. A 20 minute drive hop across the border into Lincolnshire will see you in Stamford with its nearby Burghley House famed for the Burghley Horse Trials, being the back drop to many period dramas, its gardens and its historical architectural interest. Northamptonshire with it's stately homes and gardens including Rockingham Castle only 20 mins away is also easily accessible from The Chapel. There are various golf courses throughout the county from the historic Luffenham Heath Golf Club (15 mins away) to the newer Rutland Water (10 mins away) and Greetham Vally Golf Courses (25-30 mins).
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our break at The Chapel, a perfect long weekend escape to the country! It is in a lovely peaceful position in a beautiful village, yet equally near enough to for local walks and to visit nearby villages and Rutland Water in the car. Samantha & Colin were quick to reply and had useful local knowledge too. The local pub (Kings Arms) is very close by and we enjoyed a great Sunday lunch there.

  • A beautiful place in a peaceful location. The biggest surprise was value for money! It’s a great luxury place for little getaways in the country. There’s plenty to do outside of the location, like walking around Rutland water and visiting local towns. Wonderfully clean and with really helpful touches like emergency toiletries and other essentials. Make sure to wrap up in the colder months as it does get a bit chilly!

    Jessica2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent lovely couple of days at The Chapel, it had everything we needed. The place is beautiful and Samantha & Colin are great hosts. We were only a short drive from all the places we wanted to see and the weather didn't spoil our trip! Can I also recommend the pub in the village - the Kings Arms. Great food and friendly service :)

    Sarah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel was beautiful, the photos do not do it justice. The attention to detail was just amazing, little added extras. Full information on the area and things to do. All very thoughtful, a lot of care has been put into making sure everything is perfect.

    Tina2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, tranquil location, nestling the historic and quaint. The Chapel is refined, pristine and wonderfully engineered, with thoughtful and homely touches - it’s comfy, warm and simply lovely. The hosts are amazingly kind and accommodating too. Perfect!

  • If you’re needing a creative, thoughtful and functional space to unwind, find inspiration or a base to explore. Then this home is perfect. Tucked away in a beautiful village, the silence at night was a big bonus for wonderful sleep. You won’t be in for any problems as the hosts are proactive and easy to communicate with. They have thought of absolutely everything that will ensure you have a stay to remember. For the price, it’s hard to beat! Thanks again:)) Cheynne

  • Lovely place to stay. Room is warm and cosy and bed comfortable. Really appreciated being able to use the kitchen and the fab corner bath in the bathroom. There are two adorable friendly dogs, but they are kept out of the way in a separate room so you don’t have to have contact with them unless you want to. Anita is a really welcoming host and I’ll definitely go back if working in the area again.

  • I really enjoyed my stay. The house is very cosy and clean, and Anita is a thoughtful and attentive host. Excellent value...highly recommend!

  • I stayed at Annita's place as I was attending the funeral of a close friend's Dad. As it's described in the listing, it was warm and cosy, like staying at a friend's house - but you'd only just met them. Fantastic value for money and a great place to stay if you're working in the Corby area.

A bright and modern space in a beautiful rural setting. A first floor one bedroom flat attached to the main house but with its own entrance. There is a kitchen with cooking basics and parking for 1 car - (2 at a push!) We are in the middle of wonderful road cycling, walking and fishing country, being close to Eyebrook Reservoir, Rutland Water, the Jurassic Way, the Leicestershire Round and more. We are also half a mile from Nevill Holt Opera.
The Welland Valley is a beautiful area. We are close to Uppingham with cafes and independent shops and it’s fresh market on Fridays. Leicester is an easy 20 miles away, Oakham 13 miles, Oundle and Stamford about 16 miles and Market Harborough 9 miles. Our apartment is attached to the main house but with its own entrance and parking and is very private. It is a very bright space with wonderful views all around over countryside. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and a wardrobe and the new en-suite has a large shower. We are slowly trying to become a single use plastic free zone so have lovely refillable coconut shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom for your use, together with handmade soap. In the kitchen we have an electric cooker, a microwave, fridge freezer and hopefully everything you would need for cooking. Also supplied is olive oil, general seasoning, tea, coffee and a selection of herbal teas. There is WiFi in the flat and plenty of room to set up your laptop should you need to. The sitting room is full of light and very comfy with a sofa and arm chairs. There are two single sofa beds in this room that can be used as a double or two singles. The dining table is in this room. There is Freeview on the television and dvds can be played. We have a good selection of games, dvds and books should you need them. We live in a very quiet area with plenty of lovely walks and things to do. We are road cyclists and the area is very good for that. We are close to various bits of the Jurassic Way and the Leicestershire Round, Rutland Water and, if you like to fish, Eyebrook Reservoir. The internationally known Birdfair is held annually at Rutland Water in August at the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre, Egleton near Oakham. We want to ensure your stay is all you hope for . You can be as private as you like as we have a key safe for checking in and the flat is completely separate. I am usually around and, if not, contactable should you be missing something or need some information. There is no washing machine in the flat but you are welcome to use ours. There is a drying rack, an iron and a board in the flat.
We are close to several lovely market towns. Uppingham, Oakham, Stamford and Oundle. Peterborough and Leicester are both 45 mins away. We have very good rail connections from Corby, Kettering and Market Harborough.
  • You will not be disappointed with your stay at Alex's flat. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful relaxing experience. Everything you would have in your own home is there for you.

  • Lovely place, gorgeous location. My two daughters and I stayed here for a weekend and loved it. Alex is a super host who makes you feel comfortable and at home from the outset, always at hand without being intrusive. The flat itself has everything you could want and is spotlessly clean and stylish. I would recommend anyone who loves the countryside staying at Alex's place as it's location is second to none. Thanks for having us Alex it was a super weekend.

  • Alex is a caring and considerate host and was keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We appreciated the little touches like kitchen basics being provided for the first day. The flat was perfect for me and my two teenage daughters to use as a base to visit family who live locally. Bright and clean with lovely rural views.

A well furnished, luxurious annexe adjoining a beautiful rectory overlooking the Welland valley. Close to the borders of Northamptonshire, Rutland and Leicestershire we're ideally placed to visit Rockingham Castle, Rutland Water and Burghley House. It's an idyllic spot with a wonderful sense of space and gorgeous views, and as the property is all on one level it's easily accessible. There is plenty of off-road parking and lovely mature gardens to enjoy.
One bedroom has a king sized bed and ensuite with bath. The second room has twin beds with ensuite shower. There's a well appointed kitchen with dishwasher and a large sitting room with French doors out to the patio and garden, and a cosy wood burner. There's also a washing machine.
Gretton is a large, friendly village just a hop over the Welland river from Rutland. Well situated near Uppingham, Corby, Stamford and Market Harborough and some beautiful villages, there's plenty of places to visit. In the village we have three pubs, a sports club with multi use games area, coffee shop, post office and churches. Corby is only a couple of miles away with large supermarkets; the pretty market towns of Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford are all within a twenty-five minute drive and Leicester, Cambridge and Northampton are reachable within an hour to an hour and a half.
  • Kate is an excellent host. Great communication and quick to respond to phone calls and emails. Her home is beautiful. I have already booked my summer visit for 2020. Great location, easy access to all major roads and attractions and the best part is the beautiful views from practically every window in her cozy home. Already looking forward to my return visit.

    Donna2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • A warm and cosy annexe with very comfortable beds, located within short walking distance of village amenities. We found Kate to be very accommodating and her communication both before and during our stay was excellent.

    Katy2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Simply beautiful.

    Anne2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful gardening, nice idyllic environment for retreat and friendly dogs to play with kids, kids can play at the tennis court .

    Sharon2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely beautiful. Neither photos or words can describe it well enough, but I will try. The old rectory sits on about 4 or 5 acres of hillside. However, it is not a steep slope. Rather, it has been worked so that any sloping parts are gentle, and most of it has been levelled. The apartment is an annex to a georgian 2 storey building where Kate and her family live. It is totally private. You park your car, and walk into the annex on the same level. but the annex is built on a slope, so you are effectively on the second floor. The annex is in line with the middle of the tall trees that are on either side. It is a beautiful feeling. The annex is beautifully furnished The large sitting room has a full bay wall with many double hung windows. The views of the surrounding countryside are magnificient. The kitchen is large and modern with everything, and beautiful views as well. As have the bedrooms. The village of Gretton is charming. Quintessentially English. Kate does not impose herself upon you at all, however she is very friendly, and will do anything for you. I could go on, but suffice to say that you will not regret staying here.

    Christina2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We chose the Annexe to be near Eyebrook for the flyfishing but there is so much to do in the area. The location is great and the views stunning. We hope to return as we also discovered some great walking. The Annexe is spacious, airy and light, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The hosts are were both helpful and welcoming.

    Judith2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and at home. Kate and Tim were very welcoming hosts and were very communicative and helpful but also were not intrusive. This was very much a home from home for all of us, as we all felt comfortable immediately upon arrival and throughout our stay. Everything we required was available to us without having to ask for anything. A wonderful place to stay and enjoy, especially the lovely views from all the windows. We would all be happy to recommend the annex.

    Terry2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location, great setting and a fantastic property. A great escape for a long weekend, but also a fantastic base for a longer stay. Kate and Time were great hosts - very welcoming, but never intrusive, although always available if you needed anything.

  • A really well-taken care of place to stay, with lots of space and good facilities (you won't need to bring any cooking gear with you). Lots of little touches to make the visitor feel welcome, and a very responsive host. Note that it's all single beds, so if you need a bit more space to toss and turn you'll need to bear that in mind. All clean and tidy, and pretty close to the centre of town.

  • The house was clean and spacious. Delighted to find that essentials (tea, coffee, milk + more) were provided. John and Anna were excellent hosts and communicated excellently throughout the process. Very likely to use in future.

    Ben2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • John and Anna really go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. We only stayed for 2 nights as we are in the area for a wedding but it was like a home away from home. We had a 14 month old with us and she slept soundly in the travel cot, which we had in one of the spare rooms. All of the appliances seem brand new and top of the range. There were many thoughtful touches such as cereal, milk in the fridge and tea and coffee available as well as a few biscuits. And when we enquired about a sheet for the travel cot, Anna turned up with one within half an hour. We really couldn't have asked for better hosts. Probably the best we've had and we've done a lot of AirBNB (and hosted lots of people too!). Thanks John and Anna for a wonderful stay. We would definitely recommend for families staying in Corby.

An annex to a beautiful cottage in a quiet but convenient location in the centre of Uppingham. Accommodation consists of two bedrooms (one twin, one single), private bathroom and private kitchen-diner, with other benefits including off-road parking and a peaceful garden.
Uppingham is a beautiful small market town set in rolling countryside in Rutland. Stamford, Oakham and Rutland Water are all within striking distance.
  • Great location with a short walk into Uppingham and ideal for us. Very clean and spacious and comfortable beds. Toasty warm and a decent kitchen with everything we needed for 1 night but it would be ideal for longer stays too.

There is no lounge as such but the kitchen has a lovely big table and chairs. There was tea, coffee, milk, bread etc. left for us which meant we didn't need anything much at all as we were only staying one night. Great for our needs and would certainly recommend.

  • Sue's house is only two years old but is so immaculate that you would swear she's just moved in last week! Tastefully decorated, with nice chunky wooden furniture, perfect stone bathroom and big screen Netflix TV, you feel you could be staying in a high end hotel. But the comparison ends there, as this is a warm and friendly home and Sue loves to chat and will cook you up a great breakfast with proper sausages! N.B. If your Sat Nav is not bang up-to-date it may not be able to find the address or post code due to the newness of the estate, so use Google Maps directions instead.

  • The space is great. 4 beds and a sofa with lots of space to relax. Locally a lot going on. Helen was great!

  • Everything you'd need for a short trip, so easy to check in and check out. Plenty of room. One thing to be aware of is there isn't a door to the bedroom, so if you're putting kids to bed in there and hoping to chill in the adjoining lounge you'll have to come up with a plan. But it didn't detract from our stay. Thanks!

  • We had an absolutely wonderful few days at Topiary Barn - Wendy is a delightful and attentive host, without being intrusive, and communication was excellent from day one. You really do feel like you're staying in a cottage in the countryside given its delightful location in Wendy’s beautifully tended topiary garden; quiet and peaceful yet only a very short distance from shops, cafes and local hostelries. Being able to park in our own dedicated, secure parking space just next to the building was an added bonus and much appreciated. The accommodation was warm, welcoming and very comfortable. The kitchen area was exceptionally well equipped with everything you could possibly need if you were planning to cook and prepare a meal at home.... or even do some washing and ironing! Tea, coffee and milk were all provided and after a busy day out and about, enjoying a cuppa or glass of something on your own sunny patio was a perfect end to the day. If you're planning to visit Rutland Water, Burghley House or to explore a little further afield, then Topiary Barn is the ideal place to stay; I will definitely be back...... if the many friends I've already recommended it to don't get there first! Thank you Wendy for a lovely stay.

No.4 is close to the centre of Uppingham. You’ll love No.4 because of the views over open countryside at the back whilst being within a 5 minute walk of the towns restaurants and pubs. No.4 is good for couples and business travellers. Parking is unrestricted on the road outside. Pleasant Terrace is a Cul-De-Sac so no passing traffic and it is very quiet and peaceful at night.
Number 4 Pleasant Terrace is part of a Victorian Terrace built in 1896 with many original features, wood panelled walls, tiled floors, cast iron fires etc. The honey coloured stone on the outside had been taken from an earlier building which stood on the spot as there is a sundial dated 1666 set into it. (The oldest in Rutland apparently) Curtains and Austrian blinds are all hand made from Chinese silk. With its own entrance accessed from the street by a short flight of steps down, regrettably it is not really suitable for wheelchair users. Internally the stairs to access upstairs are narrow and the garden has steep steps down. Central heating throughout as well as a fully functioning wood burner which will make any winter visit very cosy and comfortable. It has a fully fitted kitchen with sink, Electric cooker with 4 hobs, grill and oven and tiled splash back, electric rice cooker, microwave and fridge freezer. An Austrian blind gives you privacy as you enjoy your cooked breakfast. The ground floor sitting room has a Futon company sofa bed which sleeps 1 adult comfortably or 2 children. The TV has Freeview and a built in DVD player with a large collection of DVD's available to watch. The first floor has a fully-tiled bathroom with spacious shower and a comfortable double bedroom with double bed and Wardrobe. Outside the garden has 4 terraces, one with a pond,(so children must be supervised at all times) with fish and extensive country views of open fields across the valley. Planting has been done to maximise each season. Apple trees form the hedge on the west side and you are welcome to try any when in season (usually in September). We live next door and grow vegetables in a small plot at the bottom of the garden and again you are welcome to use any which are in season for your cooking.
No.4 is situated on a very quiet cul-de-sac in the centre of the quintessentially English Market Town of Uppingham. There are award winning restaurants, pubs, butchers and bakers a 5 minute walk from us. Friday is market day when wet fish stalls and other specialist food retailers come to the Town. The Annual Fatstock Show is held in the Market Place on the last Wednesday of November when Cattle , Sheep and Pigs are exhibited with the winning animals being sold at the end of the morning. It is the last in England still to be held in the Market Place. Uppingham was awarded a Gold Medal in the prestigious RHS National In Bloom Competition 2017 being joint winners of the Small Town category with Randalstown in Ulster. The Rutland Morris Men dance in the dawn, to welcome the Summer, every year in the Market Place ,starting at 5.17am on the morning of the 1st of May ( you have to be up very early to watch the spectacle). They then troop off to the Crown for a hearty breakfast. They also perform their renowned Mummers Play in the Market Place on Boxing Day starting at 12.00pm. New Years Eve the whole Town assembles in the Market Place to sing Auld Lang Syne as the Church Clock rings in the New Year. We are 6 miles from the largest manmade reservoir in the UK, Rutland Water, 11 miles from the beautiful Georgian Town of Stamford and within an hour and a half drive to Cambridge, Stratford, Warwick, North Norfolk and the Peak District.
  • Period terraced home, with a nice open outlook. Good sized bathroom, warm and cosy, and a quiet location. Parking may be sparse, given the historical narrow lanes, multitude of dwellings, and timed parking restrictions on the main road. Small walk to the shops for any provisions.
