  • You could not find a more beautiful location to stay. The cottage was a perfect base and was exactly what was needed. To come back from a hike and get the log burner going was lovely.

    Francis2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Peters place in Grewelthorpe over Christmas. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, the cottage is indeed basically in the pub car park, but this was not a problem during our stay. We were never disturbed by anyone using the pub. The cottage was fine for us and everything was functioning as it should. We would certainly stay here again.

  • We had a fabulous time here, the village is very pretty and it was great to have the walks into Hackfall right from the doorstep which was great for walking our dog. The cottage itself has beautiful decor (especially the bathroom) and is really comfortable. We were really cosy and warm despite even having a dusting of snow during our stay. We had great communication from our hosts both before and during our stay. Thankyou!

  • Such a beautiful cottage 😍 it was stylish, cosy and clean! Such an amazing place to spend a long weekend, the village is small, but just what you need when you’re use to working in the city. Good dog walks locally, the Hackfall walk is a must! We also can’t thank Michelle and Clive enough, we struggled to get the fire lit one evening, and they were more than happy to come and get it going for us! Everything you could need and more for a weekend away! We loved it so much and will definitely be back and recommend to family and friends!

  • Really warm and cosy cottage. Lovely clean modern bathroom with shower (even with quirky starting instruction for bath). Lots of hot steaming water. Bedrooms warm and comfortable and lots of space, Kitchen is well equiped although a teapot wold be a good addition. Dishwasher nice and handy. Plenty of cooking utensils and crockery. No shortage of plates etc. Log burner gave off lots of heat and was quite easy to get started. A perfect place to relax and to hide from the dreadful storms and floods. Clive and Michelle only a couple of minutes away if any problems arise so really handy as is the cafe opposite side of road which served a lovely hot bacon sarnie.

    Jo2020-02-13T00:00:00Z

Carpeted stairs lead directly from the Kitchen to the 'loft-style' Bedroom, where we have installed a King Size Bed, a Dressing Table with ample drawers and a Wardrobe hanging space. All of our Bedding is of a high quality, and luxury Robes and Towels are provided during your stay. A Hairdryer and portable Electric Fan, with a wall-mounted TV are also there for your use. The sunken garden also houses an outdoor wood-fired Pizza Oven for your use during summer months. This needs a certain amount of experience to manage - under our direct supervision - which we are happy to provide when we are available and can then pass on our skills! Therefore it's use is by advance arrangement only. For enjoying those summer days there are high topped tables and chairs outside. In addition, folding Garden Chairs are also available for your use and are stored in the Kitchen. York is not too far and has an array of visitor attractions covering Viking, Roman and Medieval history. However you look at it, Thump Cottage is an ideal starting off point to provide you with everything you would want on a holiday.

  • What more can we say about this place that hasn’t been said by everyone else that stays here. We didn’t get to meet the hosts but they were incredibly friendly and informative in communication and the cake and birthday beer were fantastic touches. The village is lovely and only 10 minute drive from Ripon. The place itself is beautiful, very clean with games and puzzles provided for rainy days and maps and guides giving lots of information on the area. Had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen with detailed instructions on how to use everything. Really can’t recommend these hosts and this property enough!

The fire is great after a days walking, the kitchen facilities are perfect and the local shop and butchers are great for everything you could need. The owners gave us advice and help about walks and printed maps which was a really nice touch. Friendly and hospitable people who clearly care about what they are doing. • A perfect stay at a lovely little cottage - topped off with great hosts, thank you Fiona and Nigel!

    Ben2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding! Had the best time during our 3 day New Years Stay at Woodpeckers Cottage. It is truly a home from home with every comfort considered and spotlessly clean. I couldn't think if a single thing that any guest could need that wasn't included. Fiona & Nigel have thought of everything. The homemade mince pies and cake was a lovely welcoming touch as well as the many additional extras in the kitchen incl milk, butter, condiments, oil, fresh eggs, tea, coffee etc. Add to that a cosy log burner, Netflicks on TV, comfy bed, near to many fabulous locations with hosts that go the extra mile for their guests. What else could anyone want? We could not recommend Woodpecker Cottage too highly and will definately be returning!

    Gary2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here - Fiona's cottage is a beautiful, cosy space for a couple to stay. She had left us some christmas cake, mince pies and tea ready for when we arrived, which was such a nice way to arrive. Thank you!

  • We had a fantastic three night stay in the cottage. It is a great space to stay - even better than the photos suggest. We had a hit of terrible weather, and it was great to be able to come home to the fireplace. Sarah and her husband were very welcoming and helped us out with any issues straight away. There’s a woodland beyond the castle (view from the window) which is really nice and has a network of walking tracks in it. Can’t recommend this place enough, we’ll happily come back.

Market view looks over the ancient and attractive market square with its old buildings and areas of interest. It is central for hotels, shops and scenic walks. You’ll love Market view because it is spacious, well equipped and has a lovely atmosphere. There are a combination of small shops, offering art, clothing, and souvenirs. There is a great selection of hotels, pubs and tearooms. There is an excellent range of local food shops. Many scenic walks are on the doorstep. Babies welcome.
It is a large studio apartment on the ground floor. The king size bed is separated from the lounge. There is a separate kitchen and a separate bathroom. The bath has a shower over it.
It is a lovely and friendly place to live. Everything required to relax, be occupied or to eat well is available in this market town. It is very old and the buildings are beautiful.
  • Amazing, perfectly located in the village. The flat is spotlessly clean and has everything you need and more. Cant recommend this place enough

  • Had a great stay at Sue's place, absolutely ideal location for walking, eating and drinking. Lovely to have a pint of milk already in the fridge and welcoming cake etc. Just the the job for a few day's away

    Adrian2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful! Sue thought of everything. Being from Florida, I appreciated the extra blankets everywhere! We stayed here specifically because it was close to Black Sheep brewery, however, we didn’t know it was in the middle of the market square! It was a pleasant surprise! Lots of parking with a honesty box, warm blankets, comfortable bed, what else can you ask for? Thank you Sue! :)

    Cindy2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A great little find in a really good location. Clean and comfortable, with everything you need. The little touches like milk for a cuppa and biscuits were a really nice touch, thank you

  • Lovey spacious accommodation, great location !

    Melanie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay at Sue's place! It was lovely and cosy and we loved the thoughtful touches like the biscuits Sue left for us and the daffodils. It was also really useful to have some local tips regarding the local shops and pubs and walk suggestions! We went to all 4 pubs which were all brilliant and friendly and we had a gorgeous meal at the White Bear. On our first night we had fish and chips from just next door!! It was a shame that the market wasnt on Saturday morning due to the weather but we enjoyed all of the quirky shops in the area. We also visited the Black Sheep Brewery which we found really interesting and we had a delicious lunch there! We only stayed a couple of days but felt very much at home and wished we could have stayed longer! Would definitely recommend!

An oak framed loft apartment is above a large garage which is accessed by stairs with balcony for tree level seating. The space is not attached to our house and has separate access. The pitched roof gives the apartment a feeling of space and light. with underfloor heating. The outside space is ideal if you want some fresh air. We are in a rural location. We would welcome all visitors.
I am afraid we do not accept dogs here. We have dogs ourselves and love them, but having hens and sheep I have to consider their welfare too.
Located 4 miles from Masham and 4 miles from Ripon, 2 miles from Kirkby Malzeard and 2 miles from Grewelthorpe all with Pubs and other amenities although there are no pubs in walking distance. Details are available for a reliable taxi.

  • Stayed here end of Jan. Anna was as welcoming as her home, what a lovely place. It was well equipped and spotlessly clean. I took no time in lighting the stove which warmed the whole house up so well I didn't need the additional heaters. Location is pretty and the local pub is friendly with decent home cooked food and a short walk away. Nice walks via footpaths round the village for my dog, and not far from the Dales for more adventurous walking. I'd stay here again.

  • Lynn's home was beautiful - it was exactly what we needed! Lynn has it stocked with all the extra touches (tea, coffee, shampoo etc) so we didn't even need to bring loads in from the car! I would highly recommend! Thank you Lynn!

    Jessica2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn's cottage was the perfect stay for us. The location was spot on as i was visiting nearby Masham and my companion visited Ripon we also noted there were many other local attractions within close proximity. the flat was spacious and sparkling clean, with many extra touches like fresh flowers little toiletries, leaflets on nearby places and delicious home made scones. The Furnishings were comfortable with plenty of extra bedding and blankets should we have become cold. As it happened even in March the cottage was a lovely warm temperature. The bathroom was very modern with a low-level shower tray great for those with mobility problems. the kitchen was compact with a microwave, fridge freezer and portable hob. it was well stocked with lots of jams, cereal, milk, bread, butter, tea and coffee. Lynn herself was a wonderful host, quick to communicate and easily accessible through our stay and nothing was too much. she has put a great deal of thought into her letting and added many additional touches and has great plans for the summer months for sharing her stunning garden. i would definitely recommend a stay here for a couple who want to visit a little Yorkshire village and use it as a base to explore the wonderful local countryside and villages. Thank you Lynn we will be back

    Cathy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mill End is as delightful as it is depicted in the listing. Lynn is as perfect an AirBnB host as she is painted in the reviews and all the good things mentioned in those reviews are correct. Wholeheartedly recommended.

    Mel2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place with a lovely view, and Lynn is a lovely welcoming women who has put beautiful touches to the place that make you feel so at peace, it’s just beautiful 💫🙌🤍

    Cheryl2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mill End is a beautiful house, and Lynn’s attention to detail and level of hospitality are outstanding. We enjoyed her very warm welcome, and also the chance to look round her stunning garden. From the red roses and welcome note to the very comfortable bed, Lynn has thought of everything for her guests. The breakfast was way beyond our expectation, with 4 different cereals + porridge , different breads and just so many preserves it was impossible to choose. Add to that fresh fruit and yoghurt and we went out each day on very full stomachs! Every home comfort was in this lovely suite, and it is without doubt the best Airbnb we have found. We shall be back. Thank you, Lynn.

    Janet2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy suite , big bathroom, great little kitchen , lovely touches like breakfast and scones etc Lynn is lovely, great host 😁

    Louise2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I found another gem of a place. I keep finding these outstanding places and my stay is far too short. From the lovely Lynn who hosts the accomodation to all the extra touches that must come from precious experience in the hospitality trade as I didn't find anything I could have suggested to add. The place was one of the cleanest if not the cleanest places I've stayed. The bed was comfy...I slept better than I have for a while. The breakfast was yummy and more than enough. I wish I could have stayed more than one night to explore the local area more but I will definitely return if Lynn will have me. A great place well above many I've stayed in and no suggestions on this one.

  • This is a wonderfully cosy cottage, with everything you’ll need. Its beautifully decorated and has the most comfy beds! It’s in a great spot and very peaceful, even though it’s next to the White Bear Hotel (with delicious food) - the atmosphere is very gentle. If you find this little gem you won’t be disappointed.

  • Dairy cottage is well situated and spotlessly clean. The host Victoria is beyond helpful and we thoroughly recommend staying here. Thanks again Victoria.

  • This cottage is really lovely. Very well decorated, spotlessly clean, everything you need is in the kitchen and the beds are really comfy! The radiators heat the whole house very quickly as we stayed in October and it was starting to get chilly at night. The location is also excellent - in the centre of Masham and a short walk from several excellent pubs and the co-op supermarket. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and nice walks. Would thoroughly recommend - a premium cottage in a fantastic location. Thank you for a lovely stay! P.S. The National Trust property Studley Royal Water Gardens isn't far away and is well worth a visit.

  • Great place, very well equiped with a truly central location in Masham. Nothing could be better.

  • Brilliant place right in the heart of a town that is perfectly placed to explore the local area. Immaculately clean all over the house and very well decorated and laden with great amenities. Lots of great local deli’s, bakers, butchers etc a minutes walk away. Rooms were spacious and well appointed and the en suite was very handy. We managed to squeeze our travel cot into the single bedroom so our 7 month old even had her own room. Shared by 4 adults and a baby the house didn’t feel crowded at all. Fantastic find that we will absolutely come back to.

Brewer's Den is a truly delightful apartment found in College Lane in Masham, North Yorkshire. A two storey stone building which has been converted into apartments with the ground floor apartment known as Brewers Den, so called because it was here that the Theakston's Brewery first stored their casks of ale in the vaulted cellars beneath.
Entry to the apartment is to a hallway with natural slate floor, with underfloor heating. Immediately off to the right is a bedroom with a double bed. On the far right of the hallway is an open plan room with a traditional pine boarded floor reaching throughout the well fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge. At the end of the hallway is a fully tiled bathroom with a bath and associated sprinkler shower, washbasin and toilet. The apartment is modern in its decor and tastefully furnished with a mix of modern and traditional. The lounge and kitchen areas are themed with brewing and distilling memorabilia including a barrel table. Duvets, pillows, linen and towels all provided. Electric central heating and electricity included. Television, FreeView, DVD/CD, radio, hob, oven, microwave oven, fridge, hairdryer and iron. Free wifi. Free nearby street parking or on the main square. Shops, pubs, bus route, restaurant, within 5/10 minute walk. Dogs welcome. Strictly non smoking.
In the last reaches of the Pennines the river Ure twists and turns with the undulating landscape. The river is now so full and wide that bridging is difficult and sites of crossings are route centres, around which important local settlements were founded. One such settlement is the small market town of Masham, a 'Gateway to The Dales'. An ancient market town since 1393 with one of the largest market places in the north of England, now faced by stylish Georgian buildings which surround the central market cross. While some of the buildings are homes others house local businesses including art galleries, sweet shops, delicatessen, butchers, wine shop, walking shop, pubs serving lunch and evening meals, restaurant serving evening meals and cafes serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. The once famed annual sheep sales, where over 80,000 head would be sold in just three days still continues to this day during September, albeit on a much smaller scale, as does one of the North's largest steam rallies in July. Now most famous for the Theakston's and Black Sheep breweries, both owned by the Theakston family who first started brewing in 1827 and warmly welcome visitors to watch them ply their crafts and sample the rewards of their labour. Masham is now home to the Spirit of Masham distillery where you can take a tour and distil your own gin. The town is embraced by the river and surrounding slopes and sits picturesquely with the tall spire of Saint Mary's church visible from miles around. Pretty riverside walks with parkland and playing fields on the doorstep, and Hackfall Woods and Marfield Wetlands Nature Reserve both within reach. Masham was proud to welcome Le Grand Depart in 2014 and since then has welcomed the Tour de Yorkshire on numerous occasions, why not try the routes for yourself, bring your bikes or hire one locally and have it delivered to your holiday property. The nearby stately grounds of Swinton Castle with its delicious restaurant and Spa, the fun-park at Lightwater Valley, Fountains Abbey World Heritage site with fabulous Visitors Centre and Saturday morning parkrun and the not so distant attractions of Ripon, Harrogate and York offer enjoyment and excitement for all.
  • The Brewers Den is a super place to stay, it is warm and cosy with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Very thoughtful touches when we arrived and very clean. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area and wanting somewhere to stay.

A newly renovated property (completed April 2019) with two bedrooms - one double bed and two singles. New kitchen, bathroom and new comfy beds... Large garden. Close to Masham (10-15 mins walk across fields) in a quiet location next to Marfield Wetlands (nature reserve). Next to Old Fever Hospital, also available through AirBnb. Fast WIFI. Hot tub available at extra cost.
Newly renovated, two bedroom property, one double bed and two singles. It's a 15 minute walk (across fields) to Masham itself, and Marfield Wetlands is literally on the doorstep. It's a unique space - massive garden, cosy but spacious cottage (perfect for four guests, blow up mattress can be added for five), dining and living area (open plan), open fire and wood burning stove. You can have the best of both worlds - countryside, fresh air, nature and all that Masham has to offer, plus all you need for a comfortable stay.
Masham itself is a lovely town with independent shops, pubs, cafes, and is also famously home to both Theakston's and Black Sheep breweries. The Cottage has Marfield Wetlands literally on the doorstep - depending on the season, on a good day you can see tufted duck, crested grebe, herons, kingfisher, egret, or even deer. On a 'normal' day there are swans and greylag geese. Ducks and pheasants can often be seen in the garden and a woodpecker is a regular visitor to the bird feeders in the garden. Within easy reach of Harrogate (45 mins), York (1 hour), Leeds (1 hour).
  • Angela was a thoughtful host, with great communication and made sure we were very well catered for and looked after. The cottage was in a lovely spot, nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable throughout. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfortable. Our dog in particular loved the garden and the many walks nearby. It was joy to look at the birds which came to visit the garden. We had a relaxing trip, even though it rained a lot and was very windy.

The kitchen had everything we needed and the location was great - a 10 minute walk from a pub and a short drive to discover the Dales from. Katie was also super helpful with navigating the challenging road conditions with the recent storms.

  • Such a cute cottage in a beautiful location. It's super clean, warm, so quiet and the log burning stove is wonderful. Would recommend the Black Sheep Brewery tour and food in the bistro afterwards. We also went on a walk recommended by the host around Masham which took around 3 hours and was very scenic (and muddy!). Katie's was very responsive to my messages but also respected our privacy. Would recommend this Airbnb.

The cottage is well equipped for self catering accommodation and is furnished as a farm cottage, with a light and cosy feel inside. We have spent a lot of time ensuring that there is everything you could want and need in the cottage to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
On the ground floor there is a comfortable living/dining room, with a log burner and TV, a kitchen area fully equipped, and a bathroom and toilet. The double and single bedrooms are located on the first floor, with a traditionally windy cottage staircase.
The village of Newton-Le-Willows is a very friendly and quiet village. There is plenty of local eating places nearby and plenty of dales market towns to enjoy, such as Leyburn, Masham, Middleham, Bedale and Hawes, to name a few.
  • Amazingly comfy bed and great hosts and cottage! Could not have asked for more, also, great cakes!!

  • We loved staying at Sheena's place. Its a lovely cosy place on a working farm. Our dog loved to roam around the gardens; a bit too much may I add. The bed was very comfortable. Thank you for the warm hospitality and the welcome cake. The cakes themselves need a separate review, absolutely amazing cakes. We had everything we needed for a weekend stay and it would be plenty for a stay for 3 or four nights.

David is a phenomenally responsive and helpful host. Also - it has heated floors. I cannot stress quite how wonderful that is.

Located on the cusp of iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site Fountains Abbey and a short walk away from the historic cathedral City of Ripon, our 150 year-old cosy, characterful cottage is an ideal base to explore these unique surroundings. Our cute, quiet village is also a short drive away from the pretty market towns of Masham, Bedale and Pateley Bridge and the spa town of Harrogate. We'd love to make this an idyllic and relaxing escape for you. We hope to see you soon at Bumblebee Cottage!
Our cottage is split into two areas: the original 1800s cottage and the contemporary living space. You'll be staying in the main cottage, which includes a master bedroom for two (with a view!), and a large bathroom . The cosy lounge is also part of the old cottage, which you are welcome to use to unwind in front of the log fire with a glass of Yorkshire wine! And of course (weather permitting!) please do make use of our lovely garden. We also share our space with an adorable cockapoo called Gracie. She can be as out of your way as you prefer. Visiting dogs are very welcome.
You really can't stay any closer to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens & Deer Park. We're right on the doorstep! (Our cottage used to be where they'd keep the horses for the estate!) Ripon City is a 25 minute walk away, or a short drive. It's got an excellent Thursday market, various museums and of course the stunning Cathedral. It also has a great range of places to eat and some lovely traditional Yorkshire pubs. Our little village of Studley Roger is very small and quiet. There's no shops or pubs but our closest cafe is on the lake in the Deer Park, for a quick butty, coffee and cake.
  • Lovely house in a brilliant location. Hosts couldn't do enough from responding to messages, easy check in and anything they could do to help with our trip. Thank you!

  • I booked this stay for my Mum's birthday as my parents are avid Park Runners. This cottage is literally a 5 minute walk from the Fountains Abbey Park Run start line so was ideal! My mum and dad said that they had a really lovely time at the cottage. They arrived late-ish on the Friday night and shared a glass of wine with the hosts to unwind after the drive. They said that they felt totally at home and found everything to be super clean and comfortable. Their only regret is that they didn't book to stay another night after the Park Run! They'll just have to go back again :)

  • A very clean and well decorated place with great views! A lovely breakfast was offered and the hosts were extremely accommodating.

  • It is a great place to stay offering convenience of short drive to the Ripon town, yet embedded in a beautiful countryside next to the Fountain's Abbey. Nice period cottage with great walks around (Deer Park) and short distance from the local attractions. The Hosts are truly lovely people. Highly recommended.

  • We felt privileged to be the first to stay at Sarah and Richard’s cottage. The cottage had just been finished and was extremely stylish and beautiful. The cottage was immaculate with everything provided that we could possibly need. We didn’t mind the weather as the wood burning stove made it a pleasure to stay in! Sarah and Richard were the perfect hosts...there if needed and offering any help required. The cottage sits at the bottom of Hackfall Woods providing scenic views and easy access to woodland walks. Thank you Sarah and Richard for a lovely stay...we hope to be back!

  • Michelle's cottage is beautifully decorated inside, it has a modern but homely feel. The log fire heats the living area up amazingly and adds a nice touch to the decor. There are a lot of places to walk around the area and Hackfall woods is just behind the cottage which is a nice area for a dog walk. The house is pet friendly and has a nice patio outside which would be nice in the summer months. The bedrooms are very spacious and it has a nice shower layout with a large bath tub. The cooking facilities were great and all the appliances seemed new. The TV has Netflix and youtube etc and the cottage has WiFi. Michelle was quick to respond to any questions we had and the self check-in and out was really easy. We didn't use them but there was also loads of local guides about the area. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back.

  • An absolutely lovely place to stay. Perfect location for walking in some of the most beautiful parts of the Yorkshire Dales. The property was very comfortable with everything we needed for a really enjoyable stay!

  • The Hutts Clocktower is hidden away but in a great location to explore North Yorkshire. It was out of season so quiet and we could walk around the grounds without anyone else there. The cottage is just next to the main house so help is on hand for questions if needed. The internet works well and the space is lovely. No phone signal and also next to the track that leads to the main car park so might be a different experience in the summer when the gardens are open. Otherwise it has everything you need and we had a lovely stay here. Owners very helpful and welcoming.

  • My wife and I stayed with our two dogs for a weekend break in this lovely apartment. It’s a great place to stay, with a well equipped kitchen good sized bedroom with a lovely comfortable bed. The bathroom has an excellent shower and the living room area is great with a sofa and armchairs and a freesat TV plus a really good wi-fi connection for the internet. A good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants are close-by in Masham and the cottage is ideally situated to connect with the countryside and footpaths to explore the local area (a walk to the Black Swan at Fearby is well recommended). A great place and we would definitely stay again if visiting the area. Thank you Mrs Rita.

  • Very impressive old mansion in excellent location, walking distance to supermarket and village. The room was charming, a little bit tight for 4 people if you’re staying for a while as the 2 extra beds are folding in the living room, but fine for a long weekend. All in all great place to stay and will definitely come again!
