  • This was a great place to stay when my boyfriend and I had a wedding to attend in Sartell. Lots of space and very cute touches! Maribeth even baked cookies for us. She was a very kind and welcoming host!

  • Such a pleasant stay! We looked forward getting "home" from our conference so we could sit by the fire and read. The woman attending the conference with me appreciated having a cat come to visit her a couple of times. I do hope I have the opportunity to stay there again.

  • Beautiful place, great experience, I highly recommended it

  • Stacie was very responsive and a big help! Would recommend again.

    Carleigh2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • This AirBNB is lovely! It has the benefits of being on the water, having a fantastic host (who happens to be an expert on the area), and everything you need to go out or stay in. We explored Sauk Centre (Palmer House and both thrift stores are great), traveled to Brooten for the Redhead Creamery (yeah- this is a MUST), then on to New London for Model Citizen and Goats Ridge brewing, through Osakis to Alexandria (DJ's Tap House is great, so is Carlos Creek Winery and the adjacent brewery. Stacie and her husband were so helpful and accommodating every step of the way.

    Dawn2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Stacie is a very attentive host! She is quick to respond with any inquiries. She met us upon arrival and showed us around! My 2 sisters and l were welcomed with various treats which was a pleasant surprise! She is very knowledgeable about the area! The weather was not very cooperative but the lake view is great! We recommend staying here.

    Cathy2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • I have been staying a few weeks for a work assignment. Stacie is great! Nothing to complain about at all. They've been accommodating and friendly without being intrusive. Good people, comfortable location, gorgeous view of the lake. It's a basement apartment -not super spacious but plenty comfortable for a single person or a couple/small family. Wi-fi works great and kitchen has this retro theme too that is pretty cool. Would definitely recommend as a nice place to stay.

    Jakky2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect, clean little space right on the lake. Hosts were always in contact for anything needed (although we didn’t end up needing anything at all!). The value for this place was unbeatable!

    Justin2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I needed a quiet retreat to recharge our batteries. Stacie's place did not disappoint. It was a very warm and welcoming space. Stacie has done a great job of decorating and making it feel like a nice little lakehouse getaway. The lake is beautiful and surprisingly quiet. We had our own little patio to just sit outside and enjoy the view whenever we wanted. The house faces west as well, so you get sunsets over the lake every night. Having kayaks available to use was amazing. There are some great spots to explore with them. There is a grill and fire pit available to use, and Stacie even provided the makings for smores too! Stacie is also with the local chamber of commerce, so she knows the area well and she can make great recommendations if you want to explore the town. Sauk Centre is a cute little town with old fashion charm. We recommend coffee and pastries at Jitter's. The scones there were amazing!

    Very quiet neighborhood.
  • Jill is such a warm and welcoming host! This was just the getaway we needed from busy life in Chicago. We particularly appreciated the cozy fireplace, Jill's cute pups, and how accessible she made yourself to us. It's a great way to feel apart from the world without actually being that far away. Thank you!

  • This place is quaint and unique. If you are a fan of The Lord of the Rings you will be in heaven. When we arrived there was music on and the essential oil diffuser was going. This little cabin is the perfect get-away. There were so many unique touches. This would definitely be a place I would like to stay at again.

  • What a fun, inspiring space to spend a Galentine ❤️ weekend. I will definitely be back. We didn’t even leave the treehouse this weekend, because it was so quaint and with the sun shining in through the stained glass windows, it was warming 🥰 I can imagine how in the warmer months,we could have bonfires and play in the shared garden. Oh, I have so many good memories of this weekend to keep me warm until next time! Such a whimsical fantasizing place. Obviously, so much care and attention went into every detail. I mean, the shower alone was a beauty. Also, all of the sleeping spaces are thoughtful of saving space. A Murphy bed? Thank you! A loft with a spiraling staircase? All of my dreams in one place. Including that it’s run in solar energy! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!!!! Thank you for sharing this great space.

  • This was a great place to stay during conferences in St. Cloud. It was so nice to enjoy a comfy bed, soothing shower, thoughtful conversation and a playful cat after days of sitting in seminars.

  • I just finished college and needed to attend a conference for work. As I was traveling by myself I had very basic needs. I was gone most of the day and mainly needed a room to sleep in. I rented a room that was both inviting and cozy. The house was very clean and just what I needed. I saw the host very little but did find her to be extremely friendly and helpful. I think this is the perfect setup for a lone traveler and would rent from owner again.

  • Kari’s home has been super welcoming and has exactly what I need. The bedroom and bathroom are cozy and I have a large desk that I can use to study. It’s also great that I am able to use the kitchen at my convenience. Kari provides great conversation and I’ve enjoyed staying at her home.

COVID-19 precautions information: Surfaces are cleaned & sprayed with anti-bacterial spray. Upsala's population is 425 & solidly in farm country. See what the stars looks like! Property features a hot tub on fenced 2 acres, just 3 miles from Cedar Lake Memorial Campground (boating, fishing & magnificent descending beach). 27-mile Soo Line Trail offers hiking, biking & snowmobiling. Free Wi-Fi. Full bath with shower. Park, bar-n-grill & restaurant in walking distance. Diversity is most welcome.
The cottage itself is beautiful and light. Its timbers were locally harvested and it is artfully crafted and decorated, with a soaring loft area accessed by ladder, and cozy living space with fireplace. There is a very large 20' X 30' deck with chairs in the front of the cottage, a smaller, more private deck outside the back patio door, and a covered porch. The area is generally quiet and peaceful. The town welcomes you! Joan and I welcome you!
Upsala is a great little town. People are friendly and courteous. We have a wonderful meat market in town that makes their own brats--like pineapple/jalapeno--and award-winning bacon. We also have a thriving motor company, an Internet business, a good bar with excellent burgers and complimentary drinks for our guests (with the purchase of a meal), and an excellent restaurant. Hiking, biking, boating, snowmobiling are all available nearby.
  • Jill’s home was exactly what we needed! Our dogs loved running around the open yard and making friends with her dogs. The chickens were great and loved the fresh eggs in the morning!

  • We had a great stay with our two dogs with plenty of space for them to roam a bit. Overall wonderful stay!

    Meghan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Like other reviews have said, Jill and Joan provide a wonderful hospitality that’s just warm, inviting, and personable. I was so touched by the way they set the mood for a warm and cozy arrival. They were 100% available for questions and sweetly showed us around their property on our way out. We made a lovely and friendly connection! Their property is super special and so well loved. Touches of beauty everywhere, always something new to discover and wonder about. It’s a playful, calm place. I am sure we will return for more art and introspection!

The Maynard Log Cabin was erected by a homesteader after the civil war. We have moved and restored it and made it available for rent. It is off the grid, but it has a complete functioning kitchen, wood stove and sitting room downstairs. There are two antique beds with new mattresses upstairs. There is no electricity but the cabin is furnished with kerosene lanterns. The bathroom facilities consist of wash basins and outhouse. The cabin is surrounded by 40 acres of woods and meadows.
This log cabin is nearly 150 years old having been erected by James Maynard shortly after the Civil War. We moved and restored it and it now sits in a meadow at the edge of our woods. The fully functional kitchen features an old-fashioned kerosene stove and period furnishings. A wood stove heats the cabin on chilly mornings. Multiple kerosene lanterns provide light after dark. The two upstairs beds are genuine antiques and are furnished with handmade quilts and feather pillows. Guests have access to an outdoor fire ring and barbecue. Guests should also feel free to explore the adjacent woods and property.
The cabin is close to the Alexandria/Douglas County Lakes area as well as Lake Osakis which is well known for its fishing opportunities. The Long Prairie River is only minutes away for those who enjoy canoeing. Our Amish neighbors frequently have fresh vegetable stands and there are a couple of Amish general stores where sturdy work clothing and kitchen utensils as well as bulk foods can be purchased. Lake Charlotte in Long Prairie has a popular swimming beach
  • Second visit here and already thinking about returning in the spring. John is great to work with and it was a much needed time away. Thanks again! See you in the spring!

  • Great place to stay! Nice trails and it was pretty quiet.

    Aleksandr2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I took my 2 boys, 7 & 17, up to this cabin for a quick weekend trip. We had a great time. It’s living in little house on the prairie but with some super upgrades, like kerosene cooking stove and backup propane (the Ingalls didn’t have those!), and a very efficient heating stove. This is a very well kept, yet rustic cabin. My boys were enamored with the place. Learning to use the kerosene lamps, reading the old books and simply having to talk to each other without competing with devices. Fantastic. Sam helped us out with getting settled and acquainted with the area. Very friendly and super helpful. We enjoyed hiking the grounds and seeing what we could see. I will definitely come back for a time of solitude. We also toured some of the Amish shopping in the area. It’s an experience for sure. We ended up buying a lot of delicious food goods, like jams and pies and produce. Been eating good all week as a result. Enjoy!

  • This place is better in person. The stars are epic, the wind chimes on the porch soothe you, even the rain on the tin roof was lovely. There are cows and roosters next door that wake you, but it all added to the fantastic vibe, and I adore this place so much I already booked it again. The check-in was great. I was traveling from the cities after work, and John arranged Samantha to check us in late. The house was warm and the lanterns were lit. It was perfect and thoughtful! My son fell asleep peacefully, even with the gentle thunder. The beds were ok, and keeping the windows cracked open lets in the breeze and the sounds outside. It’s quite lovely. The mosquitos didn’t bother us at all! I did see a bat house and plenty of dragon flies, so perhaps they are doing their jobs. Other wildlife we saw: quail, pheasant, turkeys, some other bird with a red head (it’s in the book in the cabin). We played in the creek, and my son finally forgot about his video games and we were able to spend some quality time together, reconnecting and making memories. The fall foliage was just peeking through the green. We stopped at every recommendation in the book to buy things from the Amish. We didn’t see people at a couple so we hurried off, but we did pick up a lot of homemade jams and jellies, canned pickles, fresh eggs, carrots, cucumbers, and a watermelon. Everyone in town is friendly too. I adore this place. Definitely bring your cooler of ice, possibly your own bed linens if you like them freshly laundered like I do, and you will be set. Thanks for such a great stay in such a lovely place.

  • Amazing!

    JoyAnn2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Totally worth the cost and 100% better than tenting. The gas cook stove and burner made it very easy to cook our meals inside when it rained. The walking trails were awesome and the scenery was beautiful. Very peaceful.

  • We enjoyed our weekend. It was fun exploring the woods and feeding the four goats (we gave them leaves from outside the electric fence). We saw four sandhill cranes on a field nearby as well as two deer. (You do hear road traffic and some planes, so it is not quite like you are in the middle of nowhere.) John had a nice map with local Amish sellers/stores that we used one day and that worked out really well. We drove to Spruce Hill County Park and and enjoyed an interesting and fun hike (we saw a flock of partridges). Well stocked with firewood. It was fun to enjoy our meals on the front porch. There are several public beaches nearby (Long Prairie and near Alexandria) that you can drive to and enjoy.

This is called the Brower House. The town of Browerville is the same guy. It’s an English Tudor. He was the guy who discovered Lake Itaska, and the father of the Minnesota Park system. This isn’t fake facia but 8”-16” granite walls, and hand hued cypress beams in the porch. During the summer you can rent a kayak. It’s a work in progress.
You can use the wood fireplace (byow) bring your own wood.
It’s on the Mississippi. Granite stairs are very rustic, and lead you to a turn of the century archway entrance.

  • My stay with Julie was excellent! I stayed here while waiting for my apartment to be finished and when move-in was delayed, she let me stay an extra day at no charge. She even had me bring my car in her garage when it was going to hail. The place is very clean and has everything you would need for a short or longterm stay. She was very respectful of my privacy and very pleasant to deal with. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Super clean. Amazingly comfortable beds. Quiet and peaceful. Tastefully decorated. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

  • Julie, My work project in Minnesota was a success and you and your home were a big part of the reason why. You made me feel very welcome and I always looked forward to returning to "my home away from home" after a long day at the office. In addition, there were a few days that I worked from home and was able to do so undisturbed and with ease. I loved the feel of the downstairs and couldn't believe how spacious it was. I especially loved the large den with the fireplace and nice TV. My bed was very comfortable which allowed me to get a good night's rest. Most importantly, I really appreciated how clean you kept the place! Also, please pass along my thanks to Andrew for keeping the porch, steps, and driveway clear after we received 8" of snow that one night. Again, thank you very much for helping to make my business trip to Minnesota an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend staying at your home! Greg

Bathroom with sink and porta-potty, has camping shower with pump, that works with a bucket of water. Lake Alexander 5 min away. There are discounts if you stay 7 or more days.

Rustic cabin, has electric, heat and enough space to not feel cramped. Semi-secluded area, in the heart of many lakes. Yet close enough to larger towns if you require essentials or entertainment. • James (Dave) went above and beyond as a host, even coming quickly to my rescue when I drove my car into a snowbank along his driveway. The house and neighborhood were quiet. I slept soundly each night. And his cats are sweethearts.

  • Carmen was a very welcoming host. Her place is great, it was fun to walk around the grounds and visit the animals! She provides nice snacks, coffee and tea. It was a quiet spot, perfect location to stay the night before a work training.

  • My experience staying with Carmen was nothing short of incredible. She was extremely responsive from my initial request, and remained communicative throughout the experience. The house is in progress, but not in a distracting way. The space is so comfortable!! The colors, the space, the furniture, the back patio, every bit of it. And Carmen is a great, hospitable, personable, even inspiring host. Thank you for an amazing comfortable experience!

We very much enjoyed visiting her animals and wandering around the property, it was relaxing and entertaining at the same time. Carmen was great to spend time with, and gave us plenty of space to just hang out, fabulous host! Thank you so much, it was just what we needed.

  • Carmen is a wonderful host, and her property is beautiful - lots of animals! Comfy bed and soft towels. We used the kitchen to make dinner as well. Nice breakfast in the morning :)

  • My wife and I really enjoyed our stay with Carmen. Right from the very start she responded quickly and clearly to all of my questions. On arrival we felt welcomed and expectations were made clear. Our room was very comfortable and the shared spaces were inviting. We really loved the great deck she has on the second floor, overlooking a very peaceful backyard with lots of nature to see. Carmen has several dogs but they were totally in control our entire time there. Not a peep was heard all night long and they shouldn't be of any concern to future guests. We would definitely stay again. Thanks Carmen!

  • The experience I had at the Bubble Camp was absolutely incredible! I could not have asked for a better time. The little touches definitely go a long way to making it extra special. Even though I had brought my own things, there was a small toothbrush/toothpaste and even sleep masks to block out moonlight. They were so personable and helpful while getting me checked in and showing me around. I would love to stay here again.

  • Danita & Brian's place is a wonderful Airbnb - lots of nice little touches. There are plenty of towels and a basket full of shampoo and conditioner and shower gels. The house is super stylish and the bedroom really nice. When we came back from our night out there were mason jars of ice water left on our night stands. It was just so thoughtful!! Totally recommend this Airbnb!

  • This was a really nice stay. Very clean, and organized, and quiet. Their house is very close to the highway, but it is still a quiet neighborhood. Great accessibility to a lot of restaurants and local businesses. Getting in and locking up was a breeze with the directions she provided. Enjoyed having items like a hairdryer and toiletries, and some room in the fridge & freezer, just like home. It was very nice of Danita to have a light breakfast for us also. Good tasting coffee. Nice collection of movies, as well as Netflix & Amazon to watch. She was also happy to provide insight about local food & entertainment. We went to Bello Cucina which she had listed in restaurant recommendations, and we enjoyed it. She also had waters waiting for us in our room to drink at night which was really nice. Thanks!

St. Joe, St. Cloud, and Albany are all within a 20 minute drive for all your other shopping and entertainment needs.
  • Had a very lovely weekend away from the city at Mark's cabin. The cabin has a beautiful overlook of the lake and was super cozy for reading and watching the sun rise/set over the lake. Good simple kitchen and very effective heater. All in all a great stay!

  • We stayed at the cabin for a couple of weekends this month; both times were great, it’s a nice space with a beautiful view, and well taken-care of. Will definitely consider it for future trips to the area!

  • This place was a great value for the price. The view is very nice and it has a really homey feel to it. The layout with the spiral staircase leading down to the bedroom makes for a quirky detail, and one that we quite enjoyed. Mark was very helpful throughout the entire process, and it was a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a few days.

    Diego2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin on the lake!

    Daniel2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the lakeside cabin. While it was a bit cold to do much exploring, it was a beautiful cabin with a nice view of the (currently very frozen) lake. Mark was very easy to communicate with, and the cabin was clean and cozy. We will definitely be back!

    Eoghan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mark’s cabin was cozy and a perfect stop on our tour through Minnesota. The listing details are accurate and the place was very clean. Thanks Mark for providing a nice place for us to rest with our pups!

  • Lots of space for outdoor games and huge bonfire pit! Perfect back screened in porch with string lights for ambience, mosquito free but feel the night air! No cell service and not much else around, so make sure you appreciate the company you have! Lol! Great time to reconnect!

  • The Cottage Nest is a classic Minnesota lake cottage, warmly furnished with a collection of antiques and eclectic memorabilia that almost make you think your grandma still lives there (and the grand kids visit often). We had a great time staying there while visiting family in the area. The grounds are charming and well suited for enjoying a family get together, a post-hunt bonfire, or quietly relaxing among nature while reading. We felt very comfortable at the Cottage Nest. The hosts are very responsive and helpful. We had no problems cooking, doing laundry, or anything like that. There are very few places to stay in the vicinity, so we were really fortunate to have found this great value!

    Jeremy2018-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • My sister in law and I stayed here with our 4 kids while the 3 eldest kids went to day camp at Hemker Park and Zoo. It was a great location for making the trip back and forth to get the kids and having plenty of room to play in the yard or go across the street to the lake when they got home. It's what you expect from an old cottage/farmhouse. A bit rustic but everything worked and it has a good bit of charm. Laurie was very quick at responding to questions and very helpful in getting me back some things my daughter forgot during our stay. The kids thought it was a very cool experience.

    Chelsi2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a family friendly get together or some alone time with a loved one, this is a great place to stay. The antique decor and location really give this a welcoming environment that is very conducive to relaxing. I would highly recommend this property to anyone!

  • Squeaky clean, modest place. Attention to detail was fantastic. Great spot to stay!

  • This was far beyond what we expected, it was super clean, clean enough for me to give my baby a bath in the tub! So cute, the pictures really don't do it justice! They had so many nice touches, coffee, tea, little snacks, shampoo, conditioner, water, towels. Everything we needed they had. They responded to every question we had quickly and so kindly. I could go on and on, we stayed because we had dance competitions in Sauk Rapids which was a very busy schedule and it worked so great for us with a baby! I would definitely recommend their place and definitely return for a stay!!

    Annie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so cute! Love how the place is styled, the furniture and bed were very comfortable. I could have felt good about eating on every surface there on arrival. Plenty of touches all around that make you smile and little snacks to get through the night and or morning if you are running on a tight schedule! The neighborhood felt nice and safe as well. Had a wonderful time.

  • Love this place. What was unexpected (in a good way), was all the little flourishes and touches, from the cozy blankets next to the couch to the wall decorations and exterior landscaping, every effort was made to make it feel like a cabin home away from home. The beds were comfy and kitchen supplies were abundant and of high quality. Even dry logs for the fire!

The kitchen had most everything we needed to cook meals for the weekend, the bedrooms were stocked with bedding & space for our crew, and the bathrooms were stocked. The neighborhood was great & quiet for a nice outdoor walk on a winter day! Check in/out was super easy & Chad was quick to respond to any questions we had!

  • Loved the "cabin" rustic look with all the wood. It was a roomy, but cozy place. Well stocked kitchen - even spices! And the cooking pans were good quality - which makes cooking so much easier & fun. Loved the view from the great room & the toasty fireplace. The view of the lake and tree s from the master bedroom is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your place. I needed a getaway weekend to recharge, and that was the right lake cabin to feel recharged in.
