Places to stay in Guysborough

Places to stay in Guysborough
Enjoy the history of our beautiful home that dates back to the late 1820's. Kayak in front of the house along the Guysborough Harbour and then visit one of our many gorgeous beaches or book a boat tour at the local marina. Come back for a rest in the hammock on the covered deck until it's time to bbq or enjoy an evening fire. Or you could walk the lane into the village and treat yourself to a delicious meal. This is your perfect restful destination.
Almost 200 years old, our home was one of the earliest built in the village of Guysborough. It is spacious enough that an entire family or two couples can be comfortable and lots of room inside and out to enjoy.
There is a wonderful grocery store at the nearby shopping plaza if you want to cook at the house or Days Gone By Bakery has excellent food all day long! Don't leave Guysborough without having a meal at Big G's! Easily walk to nearby Pub and marina or the Chedabucto Performance Center and new Lifestyle Complex with fully equipped gym. Outdoor pool is also open seasonally.
  • Beautiful old home with modern touches, open concept, so many spots to hang out! Will definitely come back again!

  • Outstanding location, peaceful ambiance, spacious and convenient

  • Giselle's spot is nestled in a unique and beautiful hidden part of Nova Scotia, within a stones throw to anything you need. Tons of room with a killer view with a quintessential small town right next door and great craft beer in town! A spot not to be missed. Giselle was super accommodating and very quick to respond with open and clear communication. I highly recommend anyone to stay here.

  • Giselle was a great host. The place was exactly as described, clean, spacious and very well equipped. It made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The house was spotless and the scenery beautiful!

  • It's a very old house so it isn't perfect but it's very roomy. The bedrooms are quite comfortable, the kitchen is giant and had everything we needed and more. The living/dining room was better than we expected with morning light pouring into the windows. We used that room daily. The TV room is huge but we didn't bother with that much as the front porch was perfect for relaxing, reading or just hanging out. The town is cute and has a seasonal Saturday morning market at the harbor. The path to town is mostly along the shore and is a nice walk. The place is a bit out of the way but that's part of it's charm. All in all, we were very happy that we'd rented it.

  • I was lucky to find this spot for an extended stay in Guysborough for work purposes. The hosts were very accommodating and the house was great! I only wish I had been there in summer to take advantage of the summer amenities!

    Stew2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • A great house. Lots of charm but updated very nicely. Clean and in great condition. I loved the coffee bar!

    Stew2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly lovely home. It's clean, bight and roomy. The cozy sun room in the rear has a lovely view of the harbour and the home is right on the main street, so everything is within walking distance -- including the Rare Bird Pub. Downstairs you'll find plenty of room and more than a few games tables and a big pool table. I stayed for a few nights in early November when the weather was quite cold, windy and wet. But I had a great working visit because the house is so warm and cozy, mainly because of the excellent hot-water heating system. And the wifi was excellent. If you're travelling for work, this is a must.

    Michael2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • This home is as described and more. Beautiful views, walking distance to a lovely bakery, cafe, walking trail and games room in the lower part of the house has lots to do. Rooms are comfortable and the home is clean and organized. Quite town in the fall so take in some of the local walking trails and parks as the coastal views are beautiful.

    Rowena2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This home was perfect ! Everything thing we needed at hand! We especially enjoyed the game room and walking along the private beach. And the home was exceptionally clean! You can tell the host takes pride making your stay a pleasurable experience!

  • This home is perfectly located, gorgeously styled, and genuinely welcoming. Very spacious for our group of five. It was so lovely to be able to prepare our dinner in a fully outfitted kitchen with that incredible view pouring in from the bay. Morning coffee on the sundeck? Yes!!! We were glad to have had this experience and sad to have left it so quickly. We’re planning to be back and recommend these hosts and this home very highly.

  • The property is a large historic home with an outstanding view. Kitchen was very well equipped with everything you need to make your meals away from home. We especially enjoyed the enclosed sun porch with screened windows and comfy outdoor furniture. There was so much space in this home and so quiet and peaceful. The beds were also very comfy with good mattresses for sleeping.

  • Emily’s place was cozy and a perfect getaway for us from the city. The cottage itself is set in a gorgeous location and the wooden interior is perfect. Thanks for the great stay.

  • The pictures don’t do it justice. Beautiful place set away from everything overlooking the ocean. If your looking for peace and quiet with a beautiful view then this is the place to be. Can’t wait to book it again next year.

  • Emily was a fantastic host, extremely responsive, the cottage had great amenities and nice extra touches like additional blankets, lots an lots of wood for the woodstove, cozy living area and beautiful views and water access. I would love to come back for a summer visit and make use of the kayaks they have there for guest use. Recommend!

    Amanda2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Captain’s Cottage was great. It’s location perched above the ocean, yet far off the road creates an amazingly peaceful and beautiful setting. The cabin itself is well laid out and spacious with everything you need and the wood stove makes things quite cozy during the chilly weather. If you’re looking to get away from it all, this is the place. Thanks!

  • Very beatiful house with all you need and enough for two. The view out of the window is amazing. We enjoyed the place for one night only, but would definitely come back and also recommend it. The hosts are precious and very welcoming.

  • Seaglass cottage is very charming & comfortable. When you arrive you will want to spend your time here, enjoying the view, fireplace, private beach & dock, and peacefulness. Michael is so warm & welcoming and a pleasure to meet.

    Tim2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights at Seaglass Cottage and wished we could have stayed longer! This place is truly special. We especially loved soaking up the stunning water views. Inside, every detail was taken care of; the place was super-clean, with a very comfortable sitting area, great bed, cozy wood stove, and kitchen stocked with all the essentials. We particularly appreciated the coffee, tea, milk and cream provided. We also really enjoyed connecting with Mike and Marilyn - they're a wonderful couple!

    Rhoda2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming reception by the host and hostess. The house is detached and offers a great view over the water, the house is very quiet. Property has its own terrace with chairs and barbecue with a view. In terms of interior very cozy and fully furnished, the wood stove makes it extra cozy and warm. You can also use the deck with chairs, great views and seals and various birds of prey spotted. This property is even better in real life than the photos and description on the internet suggest. Recommended!

    Babette2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was a fantastic host. The views from the deck on the rental and from the dock on the property are amazing. Mike was very accommodating and made sure we knew where everything was and that we were to call him if we needed anything. He even made sure we had enough wood in case we wanted to light a fire as it was supposed to get chilly the night we stayed. My wife and I would happily stay at this property again! Thanks again, Mike!

    George2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for somewhere that is peaceful, breathtaking, beautiful, charming and comfortable, then look no further. A great jumping off point to see the larger area, this place beckons you to bring a few good books and just sit. Sit on the deck overlooking the bay, sit on the dock with a sunset view, sit inside by the fire and watch through the many windows. A cozy place that provides everything you need for a relaxing stay. The hosts are wonderfully attentive and willing to help out with any and all needs and interests. We look forward to returning.

    Abby2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolutely fantastic place. A gorgeous setting on the water and an intimate, immaculate place from which to enjoy those views. Mike and Marilyn are terrific hosts and extremely interesting and open people. We were particularly "lucky" to be able to stay here during Hurricane Dorian! Mike and Marilyn helped us understand just what to expect as the hurricane passed, and they literally went far out of their way to make us feel safe and comfortable. We may be the rare couple who can truly say that we thoroughly enjoyed experiencing a hurricane! Because of where we were, and because of our wonderful hosts, the hurricane was one of the true highlights of our vacation.

Oceanfront cottage, so close when in bed it feels like your feet touch the ocean...fully furnished, screened in porch to sit and watch the waves, whales, seals, ganets, dolphins and bald eagles. Short 3 minute walk to long open beach.
  • Beautiful home and property away from it all. Nice place to slow down. The night stars will inspire. The sea sounds will sedate. This is the Eastern Shore get-away.

    Michael2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely stunning. Proximity the ocean is amazing and the screened in porch makes all the difference for fully enjoying the beauty of being outdoors in Nova Scotia. Rick’s place has all of the kitchen, bed, and bath supplies you need to make yourself at home and enjoy downtown on the coast.

    Mary Jane2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at this beautiful cottage. It was located right on the water and we fell asleep every night to the sound of waves crashing on the beach. All amenities were provided and our host was attentive. I highly recommend this cottage if you are looking for a quiet getaway.

    Jocelyn2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful vacation cottage in an idyllic setting. We could not have asked for a better experience! Rick was exceptionally welcoming. He gave us great tips for the drive, the directions were spot on, and he was readily available to help if needed. The cottage itself was very comfortable and felt very homey but still with lots of space inside and out. I could have sat all day on the porch watching the water (and seals, birds, and other wildlife) and the sunsets, reading, and relaxing. The views from the upstairs bedroom were also especially fantastic. It felt so peaceful and relaxing, and being right on the water with sunset views made it all the better. In terms of the practical items: Check-in and check-out could not have been smoother or easier. Everything was spotless. The wifi was fast. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. Lots of games, some books, and even binoculars available to enhance the stay. In short: I could not recommend this more highly as a relaxing and welcoming vacation spot.

Internet is a bit weak but for travellers with data it shouldn’t be a problem. Various movies and games fir entertainment.

  • We had a great stay! The rv is so nice and well equipped and they us yummy banana bread. We arrived a bit late so it waa getting dark and chilly. There were lots of movies and board games to entertain us. In the morning we loved checking out the dock and what an amazing view. Thanks again for having us and thanks again for your help with our car! Very much appreciated and I'll definitely love to come stay again!

    Linda2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Mary Lou were eager hosts that ensured we had everything we needed. The trailer provided the separation as our teenage son was travelling with us. MaryLou and Jim ensured he too was comfortable in the space by having popcorn available and asking where he would be most comfortable sleeping (bunk or double). The trailer is beautifully decorated with many special touches that made for a pleasant stay. The setting is picturesque nestled away amongst trees giving you lots of privacy. Don’t pass this stay by as you won’t be disappointed!

  • This cabin was the perfect winter getaway! We had a great stay. The cabin has everything we could need and has really nice touches. Karen and Jerry are truly kind people. Excellent hosts. Couldn't recommend higher. We would certainly love to come back in the summer.

    Stephen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Shore to Sea cottage on Christmas Eve in a snowstorm, and had a wonderful stay! Nova Scotia is not an obvious winter destination, but we appreciated the amazing quiet and the harsh beauty of nature. The cottage was very cozy for reading, and we loved learning more about the life of the lady who had lived there - it made us feel like we were visiting a relative. Karen and Jerry were very welcoming hosts, and so was their gorgeous dog Sampson! In spite of the weather, we were able to spend a significant amount of time outdoors, trail running. The whole area has fantastic trails everywhere, and we saw lots of birds (eagles mostly) and animal tracks in the snow. Highly recommended, we will be back!

  • Our stay at this cottage in lovely Phillips Harbour will always stand out as one of our favorite trips. Karen, Jerry & Kevin went above & beyond to make us feel welcomed, helping us find our way around the beautiful Lost Shores and sharing the fascinating history of the Harbour (Jerry is quite the storyteller, & has a wealth of knowledge about the water & the area he loves so much!). Their cottage was perfect for us: clean, well equipped, perfect deck to relax on while overlooking the Harbour. Peaceful & quiet! Coming back in the summer to do even more outside/water activities. Although just walking the shoreline was enough! Off-season was a great time for us to unwind and recharge, could not have picked a better place or people to do that with. Thanks again for the exceptional stay & the wonderful memories, and particularly your kindness. See you in the summer!

  • Karen and Jerry are very friendly, informative and helpful hosts. Their cottage was perfectly located for our interest in exploring the surrounding areas including Antigonish and Cape Breton. We also enjoyed the fact that it was a bit off the beaten path and offered us some quiet space to relax every evening after our daily explorations and beach walks.

    Karen2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was a cozy get away. It was exceptionally clean and decorated warmly. It was so wonderful to wake up in the morning, sit out on the porch and look out on the ocean. Karen and Jerry were perfect examples of what we were told Nova Scotians were warm, caring and so very friendly. We are looking forward to returning next year.

    Patricia2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Jerry’s place is a hidden gem. They have renovated an historic house to make a warm, welcoming space. Quiet, beautiful view, gracious host and hostess. Hope to return for a longer stay some day.

  • A beautiful outlook, exceptional breakfast and lovely accommodations at Pepperwood Manor B&B. Elaine is a seasoned host and it shows! The home is immaculate, well-located and very comfortable both inside and out. Great place to start your exploration of the Eastern Shore route!

    B2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The most beautiful and comfortable B&B in our NS trip. Beautifully decorated and close to a gas station, restaurant and a fantastic bakery. We strongly recommend a stay at Elaine’s B&B!

    Ana2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The B&B is in a great location, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and Lynn is a joy. Guysborough is quaint and I wish we had scheduled more time to spend there but it was our one day 'layover' as we headed to Cape Breton.

    Elizabeth2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • A little out of the way but worth it. Great accommodation in a quaint little community. Glad we stayed more than one night.

  • We have a wonderful getaway at Kara and Philipp’s beach house! It was a beautiful spot with everything we needed. Highly recommend!!

    Emma2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. This property. The view, the peacefulness, the privacy, the thoughtful and thorough touches. What a gem. Kara and Philipp knock it out of the park.

  • Kara and Phillips Beach house is a magical oasis. The beach house is absolutely stunning inside and out. The view of the water and the magical surroundings are something you have to experience, rather than talk about. We couldn’t be happier. Can’t wait to book next summer! Thank you both so much for making our weekend unforgettable and for your beautiful finishing touches. The flowers, the chocolate, the drinks and treats. They went out of their way. Thanks Again!

    Dawn2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage and beautiful location!!! Cottage very cozy and comfortable- Kara made us feel very welcome. Wonderful porch for relaxing and enjoying the ocean sites, including eagles and a lighthouse! Quiet wooded lot created peaceful feeling that we all enjoyed. Loved walking along the shore and our dogs loved playing in the water. Perfect vacation!

    Anne2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • As much the quality of the chalet and its equipment as the site where it is deserves a big 10/10! Great place to pick up, lots of space for kids. Fishing and meeting the people of the village on the dock are really nice!

    Joel2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage on the water, isolated and quiet. Check in was a breeze and hosts communicated quickly and efficiently throughout the stay. So much to see and do as well as some really nice outdoor spots to relax at the cottage itself. Lots of little extra touches made it a really special stay, felt just like staying at a resort! Would highly recommend!

    Dallas2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This beach house was truly an amazing experience for our family. It is absolutely beautiful with an even better sunset view. Kara & Philip have made this place a home away from home and provided everything you would ever need. The extra special touches for our family upon arrival set this Airbnb from all of the rest we have seen. The guys at the wharf were eager to assist with fishing tips, how to catch squid and all kinds of info on lobsters, seals and the east coast lifestyle.

Secluded and private, walking distance to ( 2 kilometer hike )to village. Absolutely stunning property, sheltered cove for swimming and snorkling. Canoe on site for exploring. 2 bedroom with a loft that sleeps young adults/teens.
Not a huge space but cozy and all amenities with exception of wifi and TV. This is a get back to basics of conversation, board games (provided), hikes, swimming and exploring. Very family oriented or private getaway for an anniversary or special occasion.
  • Cottage is on a beautiful property. We enjoyed being so close to nature. Definitely no need for TV or Wifi as you could pass entire days on the porch or by the waterfront and just watch the wildlife. Very relaxing experience. Thank you, Carolyne.

    Katrin2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very private and secluded property. Quiet and peaceful. Perfect for star gazing as well as lying in the sun or fishing off the canoe. Everyone in town was super friendly and accommodating.

  • Great cottage experience. Kids enjoyed the waterfront too! We try to return if we're back in the area.

    Sarah2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Magical. Just magical. And Carolyne goes above and beyond. From connection on Airbnb into friend in no time! THANK YOU! The kids and adults were thrilled.

    Marni2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We visited this Seaside Cottage of Carolyne's over 2 nights and we had already fell in love driving down the private lane to her perfect little getaway! The first day was beautiful weather of which we enjoyed the outside of the property immensely - The beach at high and low tide (bring water shoes!), the chair swing hanging from the tree, many chairs to lie back and listen to the sounds of the birds and wildlife and a great bonfire pit for fires by the ocean. The next day the weather was a little colder and foggy and we used the covered porch to hang out in to keep shelter from the winds and rain as they came in... the evening brought us inside after a huge BBQ and we warmed up by a fire in the huge brick fireplace. Really a solid place on own or with 2 couples! We hope to book again!!! Thanks Carolyne & Guysborough Townfolk (who were all such kind people!) ;) Kim & Joe

  • Great little cottage get away. Lovely, scenic cove - quiet and peaceful. Rustic but served our purposes very well!

    Joanne2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy, rustic and well-located cabin, right on the water. Perfect for a family. Carolyne's kitchen was well kitted out with all of the basics and it was a joy to sit on the front (screened-in) porch in the morning with a mug of steaming coffee and listen to the birds!

    Susan2017-08-13T00:00:00Z

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, the location is remote so that it's quiet, the bed was so comfortable and kayaking on the lake nearby was very fun ! I recommend their place for a quiet time in Nova Scotia, a close drive to the beautiful Cape Breton.

  • Wow! This house and its setting are even more lovely than the photos can convey. We’ve stayed in many AirBnBs around the world and this one was exceptionally pleasant. Linda has taken great care to ensure an easy, relaxing, comfortable experience (with neighbour Lee-Ann close at hand should you need anything). The spot is secluded (in a nice way), with views onto the ocean and lovely sunsets (different every night, it seems) to be enjoyed from the fabulous screened-in porch. We also loved paddling the double kayak around the very large private pond. You won’t be disappointed!

  • We absolutely loved our stay with Elaine. The house is beautiful inside and out. Inside the rooms are all new with wood floors. Everything is spotlessly clean and spacious. Beds are comfortable and it is so nice to have side tables with plenty of outlets. Our room had a sofa, small refrigerator and a table in addition to the bed. The bathroom had great towels and handmade soaps. Two common areas allowed for morning coffee then a delicious breakfast. The grounds are well kept and allow beautiful views of the town or the water. Elaine is interesting and intelligent company and her dog Hobbs is a sweetie. We wish we had stayed longer!

  • Awesome place. The room was clean and big, the food was amazing and the owners are super kind and welcoming. I wish I had booked a room for more than one night.

The cottage is an ocean view cottage in the Acadian village of Charlos Cove. Swimming, hiking, biking, kayaking, exploring the area from the cottage (bring your own equipment). The concept is an “un plugged” vacation: No TV installed Internet is nearby at cap site only We are not located on premises, although emergency contact is nearby.
  • My stay was during the annual village pic nic and community brunch. A welcoming place! Met the on- site hostess and caretaker for guests who is really great. Awesome coast and sea kayaking. Warm sea when on-shore breeze. The Cottage is a simple and airy and adequate very small house but very sweet. Bed (mattress) was comfortable with new appliances, nice eating area and a nice bathroom (but lacks a bathroom window). View from the deck is fantastic. Not many cars and biking was superb. Lots of beach walks and lots to see in nearby villages and Tor Bay Park. No internet except down the hill at the CAP site and sometimes on wi-fi. Washed clothes by hand and checked out Guysborough's ample amenities 25 minutes away. Seawind Landing 10 minutes walk away has awesome dining and lovely hosts - reservations required. The stay at Liza Janes Cottage was a peaceful and beautiful get away!! Coastal Nova Scotia at its best! Thanks Laurie and team!
