  • Beautiful house with fantastic facilities. My family stayed at the property for a celebration and everybody had a wonderful time. We had children with ages ranging from 6 to 14 years, and also had a couple of young lads aged 20 and 22, but this property made it simple to keep everyone happy. A well equipped kitchen and excellent dinning area enabled us to hire a private chef that came to the house to cook an evening meal rather than eating out. Surround sound in the lounge, fabulous and very secluded jacuzzi and sauna and lots of seating made the evenings relaxing and fun. Bedrooms were very comfortable and plenty of bed options with enough bathrooms to feel private. We also used the Spring Barn which was equally well equipped and added a great extra hideaway for the those of us that needed an escape occasionally! Gill was a fabulous host and I couldn't recommend the property enough.

  • A lovely place to stay with comfy beds and comfy sofas. Kevin and Dave were friendly and welcoming and Kevin was fast to reply to any communications. Kevin was helpful when it came to advice on what to do locally and brought us some lovely bacon when he visited a farmers market. Thumbs up. The hot tub was an added bonus and was lovely to soak in of an evening. It takes a bit of commitment to keep stoked and get hot, but it was completely worth it. (It's not a bubbling one)

    Craig2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Its definitely worth it

  • We had a wonderful stay with our family here. One of the cleanest and most spacious air b&bs we have stayed in. A log heated hot tub is a real luxury especially on a winters evening with a glass (or bottle) of wine and Kevin couldn’t have been more welcoming or accommodating. Lots of space for our little ones to run around and I imagine it would be even more special in the summer. We went to a pub in Langport and Somerton, both were great and we would thoroughly recommend and hopefully will stay again!

    Jon2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a wonderful time here. The space is perfect, lovely comfortable bed, great shower and the open plan living room is great. The wood burner is a lovely addition and we used this a lot during our stay as it was very chilly outside! It really heats up the room quickly. The location is great also, lots of lovely surrounding fields and close enough to local amenities. The best part of our stay was star gazing in the hot tub, this really was magical! We hope to return again soon!

    Emma2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Kevin for a lovely stay off grid! The hot tub is huge and so lovely to be able to sit out and look at the stars

    Kerrie2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing stay. The chalet was great, nice and spacious and a good space for our two toddlers to run around. We also made use of the wood fired hot tub which was brill!

  • Thank you Gill for having me and my family over the weekend; i could not have asked for a better place to stay, it was absolutely perfect for the one year old right to my grandparents! It was so lovely to be in such a open planned home where all the family could be together at once and still feel that you had space! The spa was amazing and we all left feeling so refreshed. The place was perfectly clean and everything was there that we possibly could have thought of! This place has made us have such special memories and we could not have done that without you and the effort you put into our stay. We had every single bit of information about the place prior to arriving, and lots of information was provided to us about local places to visit and takeaways ect. The location was perfect and was so nice to get away to a quiet area with beautiful views . The beds were super comfy and showers were immaculately clean! My grandma was over the moon with the beautiful cake you provided for us too on arrival!! There is not one thing I would have asked to be different! It was simply perfect and beautiful. Thank you so much to you and your partner for helping us create more amazing family memories! We would love to come back in the future. P.s “spice gallery somerton” .. best Indian takeaway I have ever had!!! 5 star food hygiene great service and beautifully tasting food!

  • A group of us recently stayed at the Picture House. We had such a great few days! The house did not disappoint, it was beautifully clean and great for a social get together. The women loved spending time in the spa whilst the men played pool. We also took a trip out to Harry’s cider tasting which was brilliant and well worth the money. We would highly recommend staying at this house!

  • My family and I have just had the most perfect family xmas in Gill's beautiful barn. Gill went above and beyond in making our stay exceptional. We had a beautiful xmas basket filled with local produce, a quirky xmas tree an a very warm welcome on arrival. The space is fabulous for large groups, the beds are super comfy and the spa is out of this world, we spent alot of time in it, relaxing and having fun. It has a great garden too which the children loved. I would absolutely recommend this AMAZING property, it's my favourite Air B&B stay so far!

  • We have recently stayed in a number of big houses, and this has been the best booking by far. The property looks exactly like the photos, however, what the photos can not really show is the combination of openness and togetherness, alongside having private space. This house works really well the table seats 16 people and everyone can hang out together, in the kitchen and or in the lounge. However, there is still enough space for you to be able to get away from each other as well. The rooms had flexibility regarding doubles or twins and everyone's bed was super comfortable. The spa facilities were delightful and made the house feel extra special. The setting was very tranquil and we felt well cared for without any intrusion. Thank you for the perfect stay, we feel lucky to have stayed here and hope we get the opportunity to stay again.

  • A perfect stay in a perfect barn. Converted to a very high standard acomodation. Even the inclement weather did not spoil our stay. Would highly recomend.

  • Vanessa is offering just fantastic accommodation in a very interesting area. The accommodation is spacious and everything is well thought out(Vanessa has a great eye for detail). I can’t recommend The Potting Shed highly enough.

    Martin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was an incredibly wonderful stay. The potting shed has been carefully built to specification taking every small detail into consideration. It is clean, cosy and private. the bed is immensely comfortable, the shower is one of the best we’ve used on any trip and the kitchen is perfectly stocked for making all meals necessary. The eggs Vanessa left were a nice touch and we enjoyed watching films by the fire ( which she had laid ready for our arrival) and playing board games whilst the Bluetooth speaker played out tune!would be our only choice if we stay in the area again.

    Johnny2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa is the best host we have ever stayed with. The stylist touches and the thoughtful extras always make the difference. We will definitely be staying again and are already looking forward to a summer stay. Thank you again for such a lovely stay

    Tracey2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at The Potting Shed, and, (hopefully), not our last. It is so beautiful, so quiet and tranquil. If I'd been any more relaxed I'd have been in a coma! Vanessa is very thoughtful; providing lots of extra touches like fresh eggs, cotton buds and tin foil. We love it so much that I don't even bother looking at anywhere else on Airbnb now, just go straight to The Potting Shed. I don't believe there could be any place better in the UK

    Melanie2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful accomodation which was perfect for us and our 2 well behaved cocker spaniels. The enclosed courtyard was perfect as well as access to the secure field across the road for a little run around (They never get tired even after hours worth of walking through Somerset!) Vanessa lives on site and came to say hello when we arrived even though it was later at night than planned. She was always easily contactable if needed. The Potting Shed is in a beautiful location and enabled us to explore some lovely areas We would definitely love to come back!

    Millie2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Potting Shed was absolutely perfect. It's a beautiful barn conversion with everything you could need. Vanessa was so welcoming and there were lots of little touches like fresh eggs and local cider. She also gave us loads of helpful local advice. If you want to relax by a log fire in a beautiful rural location, I cannot recommend this place enough.

Cozy, rustic, old red brick out building with wood burner. Self contained mini kitchen. Shower room with underfloor heating and towel rail. Combined lounge/bedroom. Sits next to a natural pond and large wildlife garden, across from the main house. Off road parking. Perfect area for walking and cycling.
    Quiet, rural and tranquil.
We are right on the edge of the Somerset moors that will flood in the winter and look spectacular with endless bird life. Climb up Burrow Hill (after visiting the Burrow Hill Cider Farm) and get amazing 360 views of the whole area. The rest of the year you can walk direct from the house round our West Moor, it takes about an hour at a good speed. The Rusty Axe Pub is 10 mins walk away in Stembridge. The Wyndham Arms pub in Kingsbury Episcopi is a 30 min walk away; by road or across the fields. A short 10 min car ride away is the Lamb and Lion Pub in Hambridge and The Firehouse just a bit further in Curry Rivel. There are many pubs within a few miles, too many to note here!! Ham (Hamdon) Hill Country Park is a wonderful place to walk or visit their pub The Prince of Wales. The views are again wonderful. The pub does great food and in winter has roaring fires and welcomes dogs in the bar area. It’s about a 15 min drive from us. From there You can walk to Montecute through the woods and enjoy their pubs or visit the National Trust House, or just walk the grounds and use the tea rooms. We have a well known Smokery and attached restaurant in Hambridge.(Forrest and Brown) A famous Leach Pottery and art gallery in Mulchelney, not far from the Abbey. Glastonbury and it’s Tor and Abbey are half an hour away. Street, for shopping, the same distance. The lovely and stunning Jurassic coast and Lyme Regis is 40 mins drive away. Somerset is our little secret which most drive through on the way to Devon and Cornwall. Of course you can still enjoy a day out to Exmoor or Dartmoor, many do. Not forgetting The Quantock Hills and the view across to Wales, on to Watchet and Minehead. So much to do. Come and enjoy Somerset.

  • Had a marvellous time the place was absolutely perfect. Peaceful and quiet. Would thoroughly recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 spotlessly clean and tidy everything you needed was thought of. Eva the host was lovely. My dogs had a great rime with Merlin their resident dog.

    Lucy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Eva's place is spotless clean. The place has all the amenities you may need and had some books and information very useful. Eva was a great host; since we booked until the very last minute we left her place, being caring and thoughtful. I highly recommend this place. Thanks Eva!

  • Nicely tucked out of the way, relaxing and enjoyable accommodation. Highly recommended!

  • Eva is a friendly host. She provides a very clean and comfortable studio in a nice country setting.

    Adrian2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Warm welcome, very quite, spacious. Some might find internet too slow, I found it helped me slow down!!

    Jo2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Eva's home is lovely. Our dog Blue was able to run in their big garden and play tug of war with their dog. We had some nice chats in the garden where she gave us useful tips for visiting and eating out. However, the studio itself has a small kitchen which is equipped with everything you need. "Unfortunately", it was still very warm during the day. Hence, we were not able to enjoy the wood burner. Btw: The noises in the roof are real. But luckily, our dog didn't really care.

Atherstone Farm Cottage is a beautiful and newly refurbished grade II listed thatched cottage in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone in Somerset, two miles from Ilminster. Its rural location and carefully restored interiors make it a great countryside bolt-hole. Both bedrooms are ensuite, one with a roll top bath and shower, the other a walk-in wetroom / shower. The house also has a modern kitchen, with a separate utility room, and a large stone-floored living and dining room with a wood-burning stove.
With a stone floor, ancient beams and thatched roof it's the picture of a romantic country cottage, but now updated with a modern kitchen, bathrooms and entertainment system. Its rural location makes it a great escape for those looking for a countryside bolt-hole, with plenty of pubs to walk / cycle to and things to see and do nearby, and convenient shopping in Ilminster is not far away. There are two comfortable bedrooms, both en-suites., with deep mattresses, 400 thread count cotton bedding, indulgent mattress toppers and fluffy bathrobes, so you can truly settle into the cosiness of the cottage. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and a spacious bathroom with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. The second bedroom can be arranged as a superking-sized double or with two single beds. Its bathroom is a walk-in modern wetroom with heated stone tile floors. The house has a large living area for four people, with a long dining / sitting room. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, a wood-burning stove set into a large stone fireplace and is equipped with a 55’ flatscreen internet-connected TV with a Bluetooth soundbar that can be used to play music / radio through the TV or from a Bluetooth device, or just envelop those who want to relax with a movie. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with an electric oven, hob and dishwasher. There is a separate utility room with a large fridge-freezer (including ice-machine) and a washer-drier. There is also good-sized private lawn, a charcoal bbq and teak outdoor table and chairs for the summer (or the hardy!)
Atherstone Farm Cottage is part of an old grade II listed farm that has been part of the Dillington Estate since at least 1725. The cottage is found at one end of the farmhouse - with the other half of the house also available to rent as a separate 4 bed house. The two are joined through lockable doors on the ground floor for the convenience of any groups renting both. The farm is in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone, which is surrounded by fields and woods that are accessible on foot and bicycle through the myriad of local country lanes and footpaths. Nearby there are several pubs, some within walking distance – like the Barrington Boar – others a little further, but worth cycling or driving to, such as the Dinnington Docks or Lord Poulett Arms. Barrington House, a National Trust house with gardens open to the public, is nearby, as is Dillington House. The Dennis Chinaworks in Shepton Beauchamp are also very close and worth a visit, for the tea rooms as much as anything else. There are several local cider producers whose orchards and presses are worth seeing, Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake being one, and Julian Temperley’s cider and cider brandy distillery over at Burrow Hill another. A little further away the beach at Lyme Regis and walks along the Jurassic coastline are 40mins or so to the South, and the Hauser and Wirth gallery near Bruton is 40 mins or so to the East.
  • Lovely cottage in one of the prettiest areas we’ve visited in the UK. The house itself is immaculate, spacious, and charming. Really appreciated the heaps of firewood for cozy evenings around the living room as well as private garden for breakfast in the sunshine. Great local suggestions as well, we had an excellent lunch at the Lord Poullet Arms nearby.

    Jessica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning property and it’s one of the cleanest I’ve stayed at, everything is perfect. There’s a fantastic log burner and a big basket of logs for you to burn. The decor is wonderful, everything is really tastefully done. Loved the bath robes and the toiletries that were provided. The Barrington Boar is a very short drive and it’s a really great pub. We went to the Lord Poulet too which was great. Make sure you go to Pips Railway Cafe because their breakfast is to die for and it’s kind of quirky eating in a railway carriage! I would not hesitate to recommend this house and only wish I could move in!

    Charlotte2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Atherstone Cottage was amazing, quiet, clean and beautiful. We felt at home from the minute we walked through the door and had a very relaxed and enjoyable weekend stay. We particularly loved the log burner, the authentic stone floors, the original wooden doors, coupled with the modern luxurious decor. We can’t wait to come back for longer next time!

  • Beautiful house, decorated to a high standard. In a lovely rural location. Extremely peaceful and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special countryside getaway.

    Guy2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful property, comfortable & quiet. Wifi strength is variable. Common area is marvelous with fireplace to keep you warm. Beds are truly comfortable & firm. Location close to delights of Ilminster and supermarket convenience.

    Lesley2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Atherstone Farm Cottage was a lovely place to stay. Set in the middle of nowhere down some narrow lanes, you really felt away from it all. Facilities were great, despite the farmhouse being rather old! The low beams won 4-2 in terms of days when I hit my head, but that just added to the charm. Check-in was easy (via a key safe), and they texted to say that we were able to check in early, which was a nice touch. Nearby pubs and restaurants were very nice, with particular mention of the Lord Poulett Arms and Pip’s Railway Cafe. (Don’t trek all the way to The Pig, though. We were disappointed). All in all we had a really good time and can recommend the cottage highly.

    Karl2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to holiday and the facilities inside the cottage were ideal. There are a lovely range of walks and places to visit nearby and some of the local pubs provided some excellent foods as well as being dog friendly. The two ensuites are perfect when two couples are sharing the Cottage. The Dillington Estates were good at providing information and responses to questions regarding our stay.

  • Had a lovely weekend stay with Carol and David. We got caught in Storm Jorge on the first night, but felt toasty and secure listening to the wind and rain in front of the log fire. Their garden is beautiful and they were fabulous hosts – fresh bread and cakes on our arrival. Our little dog loved playing with their dogs and walking through the muddy fields. Definitely recommend for a weekend escape.

    Jonathan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Carol’s place is at the end of a track. So there are no neighbours and the the outlook is over fields. Really lovely and peaceful. Carol was welcoming and I had everything I needed. There is a wonderful wood burner and good internet. The bed and duvet are really comfortable. The whole place was immaculate, I felt like I was the first guest. The accommodation is simple and tastefully decorated. Carol has an excellent eye for detail. Great location for exploring the area. Myself and dog were made very welcome.

    Patricia2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Probably one of the best airbnbs I've stayed in. David was incredibly welcoming and helpful and the cabin itself was exactly as described - if not better. The fire was lit on my arrival and fresh bread, eggs and more were all put out. Could not recommend this stay more.

    Nick2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Expect to be blown away by the thoughtful little touches that carol an David supply. Fresh bread, drizzle cake, coffee. Especially the calendar with my name on it welcoming us... They supply pretty much everything you need, it was like going from home to home. Just take the clothes on your back and bag. They have some great books to read and board games to play whilst sitting by the roaring log fire. Its peaceful and beautiful surroundings provide the wow factor. You will also stumble many times on lots of quirky little touches around the grounds. We just loved it here. Cant fault it at all. It was just what we needed and I'm sure you will enjoy it just as much.

    Karly2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I absolutely love it here. Carol and David are such wonderful people who never fail to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They have mastered the art of being around the perfect amount of time without overstepping. Their place is stunning... As I drive down the country lane and approach it I feel as though normal life goes and my little bit of paradise arrives. Driving around the garden to Hidden House is great; showing me all the flowers and fruit trees it has to offer. Then you approach the little house sheltered by a gorgeous old tree and are greeted by all sorts of birds rummaging through the bird feeders happily. You can certainly tell how passionate they are about their home and garden. Roll on our next visit. It can’t come soon enough.

  • Great long weekend stay. Helen and Chris were quick to respond to messages and helpful with arranging parking for a second car. Accommodation was perfect for us, a comfortable bed and a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed exploring the area and going on lots of walks. There is a lovely rspb reserves 2miles from the accommodation with pretty woodland walks and fields behind with pubic footpaths. I would reccomend staying here.

  • My partner and I stayed at Johnny's place whilst we were in the area for work and leisure. It was in between Yeovil and Glastonbury for us which suited us perfectly. It was easy enough to find, he met us on arrival and helped with our luggage, showed us to our room which was spotless and very comfortable and stylish. With our own very clean en suite, it was the ideal room for a stay away. We had all that we needed and it was an added bonus to see Johnny's lovely bunnies :) would definitely return again in the future. Thank you so much, Gina and Leon

  • We had a great stay at the Dairy with our dog Sophia. The courtyard and property itself are presented beautifully, with everything we needed to hand. Warm and cosy and a perfect space for a short break. Was great to be able to let the dog roam the courtyard knowing she was safe (not sure the ducks were as keen on her). A short drive to Ham hill which was a nice dog walk on a bright evening and although a bit more of a drive, West bay and Lyme Regis are personal favourites of ours. Would highly recommend.

Thank you Vanessa for being a great host! I will definitely recommend your barn to family and friends.

The area is lovely and peaceful. With lots of walks. But still close enough to the village to go out for a lovely meal or just a pint and glass of wine.
  • Julie's place is in a beautiful location between two pretty villages. We had a little difficulty reaching the house because of some local flooding (the result of two severe winter storms) and got a warm welcome when we eventually got through. The address details did not show the name of the house so we were not quite sure we had come to the right place. A quick call to Julie sorted us out. The room is cosy and the bed very comfortable. There was a delicious lemon cake waiting in our room which was very welcome with a cup of tea. Julie served a substantial breakfast and we got a chance to meet her friendly dog Fudge. We can recommend Julie's place and would stay again.

  • I stayed here for a little over 2 months so had plenty of time here to get the full experience! The location is beautiful and quiet with some amazing views in the early morning and evening (beautiful sunsets!). Sue and Merv are some amazing hosts. I was a little nervous staying here alone, but they always ensured I was ok and made sure I had everything I need. They went above and beyond to provide an excellent service, bringing everything I could possibly need for my stay. They live next door which is really handy if I had any problems and it was nice to know help was nearby in an emergency. I honestly couldn't thank them both enough for everything they did whilst I was there! They even provided me with a little window cover for my car on the frosty nights! It's little touches like that, that makes this stay so lovely. The place itself is spacious and clean. Very cosy with litle lights and candles. Large rooms which was nice to have, especially when I was there for a while. Overall a peaceful and friendly stay.

  • The Cider Shead. Location short drive just out side of Ilminster, on a lovely small holding setting. Susan greated and showed us around, also allowing guests to wander and see the ponys and sheep in the field which was nice. The property its self clean well laid out, fresh flowers around the house and milk in the fridge was a great touch. For those wanting a lie in take ear plugs, quite country setting but does come with a charming cockerel wake up alarm! Part and parcel of the setting. Really nice addition to this property is the garden space out the back with table and chairs, chimera and wood ready to burn of an evening if you so wished. Clean and comfortable would definitely stay again x

    Rhian2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really peaceful, stylish conversion with plenty of space for 2. Susan was really welcoming and friendly with great tips of where to visit and places to eat. Happy to recommend and will make it my first choice if visiting the area in future.

    Alan2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing place to stay. Susan and Mervyn are terrific hosts and wanted for nothing more.

    Phil2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Cider Shed is quite simply perfect. The amenities have everything you need to just drop your bags and relax. The kitchen is well appointed, the lounge is large and comfortable, bedroom upstairs feels secluded and bed comfortable, the washing machine was especially appreciated as we had been travelling for the last month. Guests have use of the entire garden, which is glorious. There are private areas everywhere and the Shed has its own outside area with outdoor fire. There are many walks to be had, and the local village of Isle Abbots has a most beautiful church that must be visited. And the highlight is Susan and Merv, they really are wonderful hosts who share their wonderful property. It really was a most wonderful way to wrap up a month in Britain.

    Michael2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous little house in an amazing surrounding! This is a perfect getaway or quiet weekend hide away, the hosts are very welcoming and friendly, can not recommend this place enough.

    Thomas2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This property is amazing beyond belief! Susan hadn’t been able to upload the most up to date interior photos so I took a chance on this, because I loved the look of the exterior. It paid off! Everything about it is wonderful. The space is light and uncluttered, with four large rooms. The kitchen is fully kitted out with everything you could possibly need. There was a very welcome pint of milk waiting for me in the fridge, as well as basics such as tea bags, coffee, oil and vinegar. The sitting room is cosy and inviting with really comfortable seating and a big tv. Susan brought over a blanket so I could snuggle up on the sofa. The bedroom upstairs is just lovely with a huge immaculate en-suite featuring a nice big shower and some really nice quality products for you to use. Outside you have your own little garden area with table, chairs and chiminea. It’s perfect. But that’s not all...the setting is to die for. You drive down this little lane then pull into a courtyard to discover chickens in their own little paddock and out the back, there was a field with ponies. If you like beautiful gardens like me, you’ll enjoy peeking out the bedroom window at the one belonging to the farm, which has fruit laden trees, loads of colourful flowers and a vegetable patch. Susan and Mervyn live in the farm house next to the barn, so even as a woman on her own I felt completely safe. Susan and Mervyn are wonderful hosts; warm, friendly and genuine. They are available if you need them, but not intrusive in any way. One evening I arrived home while they were collecting eggs. Susan immediately offered me some. The cleaning products in the barn were from Ecover and even the bin bags were environmentally friendly. I stayed here for three nights and I loved every minute of it. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to everyone. It is a little rural paradise! Thank you so much for all your kindness Susan and Mervyn.

  • I booked Rosemary and Pete's place for a much needed break for my parents. Thank you for the lovely warm welcome you gave to Mum and Dad. They were truly delighted with how stylish and well appointed the property was with everything they could possibly need. They had a wonderful time and raved about their perfect nights sleep in beautiful bed linen and the softest pillows! It all sounded lovely - I hope that I get a chance to visit myself sometime!

Everthing you need is provided and rosemary and pete were available if we had any questions. The added bonus is the cottageof is a short walk from pubs and restaurants. Today's menu next to the George pub is well worth a try for a nice meal out. Thank you Rosemary and Pete!

  • What a wonderful, wonderful place tucked away right in the heart of Ilminster. Rosemary and Pete have decorated Smallcote really stylishly and it’s so cosy that we just loved curling up on the sofa in the evening. There were lots of thoughtful touches, delicious local foodie bits and their communication was faultless before and throughout. Ilminster is a very cute little town and there’s a large Tesco around the corner for stocking up! Without a doubt one of the loveliest Airbnbs I’ve stayed in!

  • We had a wonderful short stay at Smallcote. It is a beautiful space to unwind in a lovely part of Somerset. Rosemary and Pete were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We look forward to returning soon!

Beautiful light little shepherds hut. Such a colour-fest! Cosy and bright. Very secluded. Tucked away by a tranquil pond surrounded by green fields. There is a little wood burning stove, a fold out floor mattress and an outside swinging seat by a pond. We have a shower and toilet available but access requires a walk across the field. There is power (to charge your phones etc) by the showers and a lockable space if you have bikes We don’t provide bedding or towels so please bring your own : )
You’ll have the pure seclusion of the hut and fields and the woods to explore and wander around. There is also a lovely garden to explore, meditation garden to enjoy and bathroom facilities you’ll have access to.
Zen out in this magical place. It’s quirky colourful nature fest. Great place to really connect with the beautiful surroundings.
  • The Shepherd Hut is a unique place to stay. We had an amazing time. If you’re looking for a peaceful and quiet spot, this is the place to go. Penny’s thoughtful touches making it truly magical.

    Anna2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and peaceful with plenty of room to roam around. We took our dog and she loved how much space there was to explore! Would come back again for sure but next time would bring our own camp chairs as our backs hurt after a few hours of sitting round by the fire on the seating provided (Thats just us being old though!) Penny did mention before hand to bring extra padding for the bed as it can be uncomfy, next time i will definitely bring more or an air bed (again my own fault!) Lovely to wake up in the morning and have a cup of tea by the fire and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

    Milly2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A magical little space!... We only stayed one night, but the location was idyllic and the shepherds hut quirky and comfortable.... We will definitely be back again...

  • I greatly enjoyed staying here. A beautiful location, nice wildlife around the pond, good views to be had, decent value for money, good communication from the owners. All in all 10 out of 10.

    Jamie2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had very relaxing stay away from busy city life! Enjoyed walking in the woods, cooking on fire and looking at the stars at night. We loved fresh flowers on the tables which made us feel welcomed. Our pup enjoyed running in the long grass fields! Will definitely be back!

    Irina2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The 'Wick Hut' was the perfect place to spend some time away from home. It was almost impossible to not feel relaxed when being sat on the bench looking over the water. The check-in directions made it very easy to find even in such a rural area. I didn't even stay for a whole night and felt it was value for money just to spend an evening there. Complete relaxation. HIGHLY recommend to everyone.

    Reece2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was pure heaven. We loved it so much we added an extra night... our mind were made up within minutes of arriving. Gorgeous little haven with everything you need to relax and recharge. We took our own mattress and bedding (as recommended) and some extra bits for cooking and eating. I really cannot fault the space, the log burner made for lovely cosy evenings and the firepit is perfectly set up for cooking. We spent a glorious sunny day on the swing watching the dragonflies and surrounded by beauty. We will most definitely be back.

The Lodge on the Green is situated in the rural village of Curry Rivel in the heart of The Somerset Levels. Its picturesque setting on the Village Green next to St. Andrews Church makes the perfect getaway for a quintessential country escape. It is a self contained purpose built timber clad lodge full of rustic charm. As you enter the lodge you're greeted with the wow factor of the spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine bedroom level with incredible views of the surrounding countryside.
The lodge offers a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need for your stay including double oven with grill, fridge with ice compartment, dishwasher, Belfast sink, toaster, kettle, tea & coffee supplies, local & fresh breakfast items. The wet room has a rainfall power shower with separate handheld shower alongside. The luxury soft designer towels benefit from the heated towel rail and don't forget the underfloor heating makes it very cosy stepping out of the shower. The mezzanine bedroom level is home to a king size French rattan bed with incredible scenic views through the large apex window. You can relax on the L shaped sofa whilst tuning into your favourite TV shows on the 43" flat screen TV. The interior look and finishing touches have been created by local interiors enthusiast Kate Macey who featured on the TV series "The Great Interior Design Challenge". Kate's style is very warm, cosy and country with a modern twist taking influences from all over the world using bright and vibrant splashes of colour to bring the place alive. Relax and enjoy yourself in the Jacuzzi Hydrotheraphy hot tub whilst taking in some fresh country air.
Curry Rivel has a lot to offer being the home of award winning pub The Firehouse Somerset, just 1 minute walking distance, open 7 days a week serving lunch, dinner and take away stone baked pizzas, along with some amazing local ales, ciders, creative cocktails and delicious wines. Well renowned teashop Living Pretty serving breakfast, lunch & afternoon tea is a stone's throw away. The Lodge is only 12 miles from the county town of Taunton which has all the amenities you would require. Other places of local interest feature Glastonbury (14 miles), Clark's Village (12 miles), Wells Cathedral (20 miles) and the coastal town of Lyme Regis (25 miles). If you fancy going further afield for the day both Exeter and Bath are 40 miles away which are both well worth visiting with their stunning architecture and history.
  • We absolutely adored our time at Lodge on the Green for our Babymoon! Kate was amazing and greeted us upon arrival to run through everything we needed to know. The lodge was beautiful and spotless, and the attention to detail was stunning! Highly reccomend

    Daniella2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Kate is absolutely lovely and her place is stunning! Beautifully decorated, clean and romantic! The hot tub made for a really great evening dip and the local area is definitely worth exploring (including great wood fired pizzas at the Firehouse next door!) We can’t recommend Kate’s place highly enough for a lovely break and romantic getaway!

  • An Amazing place to relax and unwind.

    Steve2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous modern & stylish lodge with beautiful views. Everything you need for a comfy stay, the local pub is less than 5 minutes away & the pizzas are great. Ed & Kate were helpful throughout & provided personal touches to make our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you so much.

    Sam2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t recommend more. The lodge is stunning; built and finished to high standard. Set is the quite country village of Curry Rivel. We ate at The Firehouse which we would also recommend for good quality food and cocktails. The lodge is very well equipped, and the finishing touches make this lodge a beautiful and highly recommended place to stay. A fresh loaf, eggs and coffee from a cafetiere were unexpectedly provided for us to make breakfast, as were towels and plastic champagne flutes so we could make the most of the extra-large Jacuzzi. The hosts are extremely hospitable, providing lots of information about the lodge and local area and, of course, privacy. Personal favourites were the mezzanine bedroom, rainfall shower, view from the apex window and the artistic design throughout the lodge. We stayed for one very conformable night and couldn’t find fault

    Ashton2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is stunning. We felt very at home and comfortable and had a quiet night's sleep. Kate was a fantastic host, a welcome book was provided with all information on the lodge and local food and drink options. We enjoyed an evening in the hot tub. Thank you Kate!

    Matt2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, exactly as described and more. The little touches are thoughtful

    Justin2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Communication up to the arrival was spot on,quick responses and full of details. Upon arrival we were greeted with breakfast for our stay which was a very nice touch. Facilities were first class with the kitchen compromising a cooker and hob, dishwasher, kettle (including tea and coffee). The lodge itself is modern, clean and very well equipped. Under floor heating ensured the Lodge was always warm. A spiral staircase leading to the bedroom. The views from the bedroom are amazing, especially if your awake at sunrise. The bathroom is well equipped with a rainfall shower and complimentary toiletries. Leaving the lodge you are met with a well lit path down to the hot tub. Very spacious and was a nice touch during our stay. We bumped into Ed on our first night, very friendly and made sure we had settled in OK. Kate had recommended the local pub called the Firehouse, which she made us a booking for. The food there is amazing! During a walk into the village we called into the tea room, also recommended by Kate. The fresh scones are out of this world and a stay at the lodge wouldn't be complete without one. The only down side to our stay was that we didn't stop longer. Can't fault Kate and Ed as hosts. Would definitely rebook at the lodge.

  • Thank you Julie for a wonderful weekend! We so needed a break away. The cottage studio was the perfect place to relax, couldn't fault anything. Thank you for your local recommendations - the pub you suggested was a great find. We so needed a rest after all the walking 😀

    Anthony2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little oasis in the centre of Langport with lovely river walks nearby. The cottage was all that you would want for a relaxing stay. (The bed was VERY comfortable). The shared courtyard was a lovely space with a fishpond and the sound of the fountain was soothing. Emma and Steve were always on hand if help was needed with anything and their children and dog were a delight. Our dog, Alfie, loved it! We'd certainly stay there again

    Maureen2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is compact but well thought out, very clean and very convenient for local walks, shops etc. We stayed for three nights and would happily return. Langport is an interesting small town with many hidden delights. Julie and family were excellent hosts.

    Andy2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Well appointed studio accommodation. Very peaceful - hard to believe it is in the middle of the town and close to all amenities. Perfect location for exploring the area. We were made to feel very welcome.

  • Smith Cottages is a little haven tucked away but very easy to find with the directions provided by Julie. Number 5 is clean, compact, but perfectly formed, and had everything I needed for my short break away visiting family, along with my dog Yogi. The peace and quiet was bliss compared to our noisy city life! The garden is a lovely bonus. Great walks start by the river behind the property. We got to meet and chat with Emma, Steve and their children (who live onsite and help run the cottages) which made the place even more welcoming.

You will have exclusive use of a very cosy cottage in the heart of South Somerset. The cottage is a recently converted Georgian coach house and forms an annex to the main family house. It comprises of a double bedroom and open plan living area with additional bed. In the winter the cottage provides a wonderful country escape with a woodburner and is near many great country pubs. In the summer make use of the private patio and stunning walled garden. Just off the A303, great local attractions.
The cottage comprises a large open plan room on the first floor in which there is a single bed, living area at one end and a dining table at the other. Downstairs there is a lovely double bedroom with french doors onto the patio and a wood burner. There is a new shower room and a small kitchenette which is fitted with a microwave (with grill function), toaster, kettle and small fridge. There is a portable single hob which can be plugged in to prepare a breakfast or light meal. There is not an oven or multiple hobs. The cottage is set up to sleep three and a cot is provided for an infant at no extra cost. A low single camp bed can also be set up for additional use. Please note the single bed upstairs is slightly narrower than a standard single bed and as the area is open plan there is no door off the stairs. The set-up and space is therefore particularly well suited for a couple with children.
  • This is a lovely little place tucked away in a charming hamstone village.

  • Anna’s cottage was my first stay in an Airbnb & certainly exceeded my expectations . We arrived on probably the coldest day of the year to warm and cosy cottage equipped with everything we could wish for and very comfortable. A very special place to stay & the sort of place you want to keep a secret so it’s available when you next want to book.

    Georgie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This little house was a perfect stopover for a long cross country drive. It is spacious, stylish and is beautifully close to the a303. We stayed there with a 1 and 2 year old and it suited us excellently. Thanks!

    Alice2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Anna’s place is wonderful, the house is confortable for a few days stay. The only downside is that the internet company seems to have bad service on the area (not Anna’s fault of course) and sometimes you just have to restart over and over the router. The kitchen is small but equipped with the essentials, and stores are not that far by foot, just be sure to wear reflective clothing while walking among the roads because lightning is low or null and there are cars passing all the time so in some places (as there is no sidewalk), could be dangerous.

  • There is a lovely and attentive welcome to beautiful, quiet and interesting accommodation. The surrounding gardens are lovely.

  • Helen & Jon are very hospitable hosts and made us feel totally at home. Their place is amazing - clean, comfortable and charming and beautifully decorated with their personal collection of interesting art, antiques and quirky collectables, not to mention the large collection of books and magazines for browsing. I would love to see it again in spring or summer when the garden will be at it's best.

    Nick2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • My wife & I enjoyed a one night stay at Jon & Helen's fabulous home. Jon was a great host (we didn't meet Helen, she was away on business) and made us very welcome. It's a large interesting house with a fantastic garden and Jon showed us our own lounge areas on the ground floor and really large bedroom and bathroom upstairs in it's own private wing. Great comfortable bed, lovely continental breakfast and beautiful peaceful village. Definitely recommend it, Thanks Jon.

    Dani2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Jon were simply a lovely couple, from before I had even stepped out of the taxi until I had to go to my meeting. The garden surrounding the property is breathtakingly beautiful and their home has been stunningly decorated. With so many beautiful pieces adorning their home, it's very easy to have your attention captivated for the entirety of your stay. Their home is so clean and the bedroom is so comfortable to spend time in and the mattress is beyond comfortable - especially when you have had a long day. Helen and Jon, were so kind and gracious towards me, from the moment I arrived until the moment I unfortunately had to leave. As well as being incredibly easy to converse with and very knowledgeable about all local information - yet they were not intrusive in my stay and were quite happy for me to relax, once I had settled in. I would highly recommend this home, as you are unlikely to find anywhere more beautiful or comfortable, with such amazing hosts.

    Danni2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Jon’s home is stylish, full of fascinating objects from all over the world and situated in a gorgeous village location. Coupled with thoughtful and down to earth hospitality and very comfortable accommodation this was a really enjoyable stay!

  • What can I say, you will be in for a treat if you stay here. Helen and Jon's home is just beautiful with a stunning garden. The room was lovely with a big comfortable bed. Breakfast was great and good a set up for the day ahead. We ate at the local pub for our evening meal and would highly recommend a visit, for good food and excellent real ales. Thank you for a very pleasant few days away.

    Sharon2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Jon's place is really lovely. There is plenty of space for the guests, the bedroom is very spacious, the bathroom all the toiletries you'd ever need, and the whole place has a friendly, slightly quirky vibe. Both hosts are very chatty and they have made us feel very welcome. In particular, I enjoyed the tour of their impressive garden. They also helped us find our way when we arrived after dark and our GPS directed us to the opposite side of the intersection. I would definitely recommend staying with them!

Tall ceilings and huge windows provide maximum daylight. Well equipped with elegant furniture, extensive kitchen utensils and 100% cotton bed linen of the highest quality. Probably one of the most romantic Shepherd's Huts you will have the opportunity to stay in, nestled in the grounds of Midelney Place, with views across the rolling Somerset countryside. Although you will feel a million miles from anywhere, you have the added bonus of being only a mile from Tescos in Langport for emergency supplies. You can enjoy 100 acres of parkland with barely a soul in sight except for our family who will keep out of your way but are here to answer any questions.
The Shepherd's Hut is a brand new addition to our extremely popular Stable Cottage. It has a pull out double bed with goose down duvet and pillows and 100% linen, sumptuous towels for when you step out of the heated shower. The hut has its own hob, fridge, wood burning stove and toilet so you can be fully sufficient. Adjacent to the hut is our new bell tent equipped with two sofas and soft luxurious rugs in front of which is a large fire pit for cooking or just keeping warm. As if this isn't enough, we have also purchased a big exterior corner sofa for dry sunny days or evenings to lounge on and take in the view. Enjoy cooking on our fire pit where we will leave plenty of logs for you to use. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast which we will provide including eggs from our very own free range hens. Enjoy watching the wild deer and our horses queitly grazing in the paddocks surrounding the hut. Take a stroll around the grounds possibly accompanied by one or two spaniels, not to mention a ridiculous Gt Dane. Staying in the Love Hut will be an unforgettable experience that hopefully you will remember for years to come.
Midelney Place and our surrounding villages are historic and facstinating to visit. You could never get board touring this beautiful county The breathtaking countryside and views, the pretty quitisentially English villages, local pubs, cafe's and restaurants. Climbing Glastonbury Tor is a must and a lot of people enjoy a trip to Cheddar Gorge, Bath Spa, Wells Cathedral, to name a few. Millfield School is just 20 mins away so we are an ideal stop over if visiting for open days or matches. We are also a popular stop if travelling to Cornwall as we are exactly halfway from London/Surrey to Lands End. Our photos of all of our listings do not do them justice, you have to see to believe but I promise you will not be disappointed.
  • Lovely space, the hut was well equipped, clean and we arrived to a lovely fire. The house gardens and surroundings are incredible. Definitely recommend a stay. Great place for an escape.

  • Don’t think twice about booking this place! So cute, clean and cosy. The location is fantastic, close enough for pubs and shops but still feel very tucked away. The hut is gorgeous, so lovely with the fire and bed is comfy! The finishing touches (such as the best lemon drizzle cake) from Jenni are so lovely too. Would 100% recommend and we will definitely be back!

  • What an amazing find! If you're thinking of booking this absolute gem of a place, don't wait a moment longer. It's exquisite and beautifully appointed. Made to feel incredibly welcome. Recommend The Firehouse for a lovely evening meal. We will most definitely return!

  • Had a little trouble finding the place as the directions provided on airbnb took us to a wrong place but we have managed to find it with Jenny's help. Sadly the yurt was destroyed by a storm but the Hut was amazing and we still loved it and the grounds around the property are stunning as well. Well worth the money, would definitely recommend.

  • We stayed here for a New Years getaway and can’t recommend it enough. Jenni was a great host who quickly responded to any messages and welcomed us with a slice of cake! The hut was fantastic and was exactly as described. Clean throughout and with a wood burner on, it was very warm and cosy. Facilities were great for the space and we greatly enjoyed the eggs from the farm along with other little breakfast bits. We’d definitely stay here again and would highly recommend those wanting a more rural retreat give it a go. One tip - pack light. As expected in a shepherds hut, storage space is limited!

  • The hut is lovely! A stylish space with lots of thoughtful touches and amazing design with the pull down bed. • Such a peaceful and relaxing space - beautiful grounds and with everything so well thought through by Jenni. The hut is surprisingly luxurious, complemented with the yurt and outside sofa for extra lounging space. If you're looking for somewhere to spend time away as a couple, I can't recommend this highly enough. We will certainly be back!

  • Our night at Hannah’s was amazing! She was so welcoming of us into her home. Our room was made up beautifully, with some lovely little bits in the bathroom and tea and coffee facilities. Towels were provided for the hot tub, which even in the middle of the storm was so so relaxing and lush! Hannah also has no restriction on time for the hot tub which was great for us as we didn’t return from dinner until late! The dining room where breakfast is served has a lovely fireplace, and the food was fresh and great. Hannahs house is absolutely beautiful through, and her hospitality was to match. I would highly recommend this place!
