Hamilton is located in the central highlands- not too far from many a great drive location.
  • Really lovely apartment and very easy check in. Lovely to wake up to the smell of fresh bread from the cafe downstairs. The hosts were so helpful when my friend forgot some items! Could not recommend highly enough

  • What a good stay at Hamilton ! Probably most of people just go through this tiny town located in heart of the Highlands, Tasmania. If so, they’ll miss one of the best address in the country : the sympathic Wild Fennel Cafe. Not only Maree and Michael are very gentle and smiling people, but Michael is a fantastic cook ! He’s preparing all meals and sweets himself, with excellent ingredients and… great talent ! Never eaten a so succulent lamb before ! And what a chocolate and almonds+figues cake ! We do recommand this AirB&B 200% !

    Pascal2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation and cafe were a haven on a bike ride through Hamilton. Maree was such a super host and the cafe breakfast was super (best fruit bread ever!)

  • A lovely space, perfect for a short stay

    Sarah2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very good value for money, considering there were three bedrooms available to us. Easy check-in process. The milk and bread that was left for us were both delicious. We had breakfast in the cafe downstairs before leaving and it was the best pie I’ve had in a long time.

  • I was looking for an overnight stay on my way from the Tasman Peninsula to Strachan through the Cradle Mountain National Park. The café with the rooms above is conveniently located on the way on the main road of Hamilton. I didn't meet the host but she sent me an email with accurate instructions how to get into the building (key in lock). There were a selection of different shower gels in the bathroom which I liked very much. Also the fridge was on which was good to put my food in I bought for the road trip.

    Marc2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed with cally and her wonderful family for 4 nights at short notice and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. Although you may think it’s remote it’s a great base to explore Tasmania. If you’re heisting wether to book them don’t just do it and you’ll have the most amazing time. Couldn't have wished for a more beautiful setting or friendly welcome. What an beautiful spot in the middle of the most beautiful island. Thanks so much

  • Beautiful rustic sheareing shed accommodation with stylish touches and great shower. Do follow Cally’s directions getting there instead of google Maps. Note: there is platypus in the dam on the property!

  • Highly recommended! Do go if you're traveling in the area. We absolutely loved Cally's place. Accommodation was great and we especially loved being able to walk around the property. It was a treat to be able to row on the dam and see many platypus. Cally is a friendly host and willing to share her knowledge of the area.

    Susan2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely night at Cally’s place. A toasty fire and a cosy room for us and our little girl. Clean as a whistle, would recommend!

    Claire2019-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cally and her husband were one of the best hosts we’ve had! Very amazing hosts with lots of knowledge around the area! We were lucky to see the platypuses during the morning, pretty amazed how they swim around your boat and not shy! Would highly recommend her place if you’d like to have the true Tasmania experience! • So much heart and soul has gone into creating this warm and inviting space, super clean and comfy. There’s so many thoughtful touches making this place extra special. Definitely the most generous provisions we’ve ever experienced in an Airbnb anywhere. Perfect place to stay with little ones (baby gear and toys provided). Ours loved exploring the gardens, and feeding the alpacas, sheep, and pony. Linda and Yanni are such lovely and accomodating hosts. They provide a wealth of local information, we enjoyed visiting Mt Field National Park, a lunch on the River at the Possum Shed Cafe, and the Westerway Berry Farm. Could not recommend more highly, we’ll definitely be back.

  • This lovingly restored cottage provides a great base to explore Mt Field National Park. The houses lots of personal touches, a very well stocked kitchen with plenty of breakfast provisions, comfy beds and a nice porch to sit and enjoy the evening. This would also be a great place to bring the children as there are farm animals to feed. Linda is a lovely host and was very welcoming when we arrived. We would not hesitate in recommending this place.

The Farm Shack is a small brick outbuilding on our 16 acre historic property. Set close to the main house but separate from it. The Farm Shack has its own entry which you can drive close to. This is a great alternative to camping (only much more comfortable) for a couple or two friends. There is one queen bed. There are fold back glass doors which open to a private grassed area where you can relax under the almond tree around your camp fire. You will share the host's bathroom in the main house.
Your grassed campfire area is slightly raised and is bordered on one side by a remnant convict brick wall, and the other by a fence. You look out to the orchard and sheep paddock beyond. The morning sun shines on this private area and comes in through the glass doors of the Shack. Enjoy the farm yard view snuggled in bed with a cuppa or pull the curtains for privacy from the ducks chickens and geese! We have 16 acres with access and more on the adjacent back property for you to enjoy when you aren't out exploring the region. We have 3 dams/ponds. It is not suitable for pets as the Farm Shack is not fully fenced off from the rest of the property. BATHROOM: You DO NOT have your own bathroom. You will share our (your hosts) bathroom and toilet in the main house which is very close. We are on town water and it is safe to drink. Your bath towels, face washers and soap are supplied. KITCHEN FACILITIES: There is no kitchen access but you have your own outdoor covered food preparation area with a gas BBQ. I will do your washing up! Just deliver them to our back door in the container provided and you will get them back sparkling clean. There is a small fridge at your food preparation area. COOKING: There is a small gas BBQ for your sole use and we also supply your cooking equipment, and cutlery, plates, cups etc. COFFEE/TEA: You have an electric kettle and a toaster with coffee, tea and sugar in the Farm Shack right next to your bed. FOOD: You will have a supply of milk, coffee, sugar, tea and drinking chocolate, salt and pepper waiting for you. You will need to provide your own milk once you have finished your welcome bottle. The Farmshack is self catering. I provide enough for your first breakfast (bread/English muffins) to toast, weetbix, butter, milk and basic spreads. The Farm Shack is only 4 minutes drive from the small town of New Norfolk where you can buy supplies. There is a large Woolworths grocery store, an independent butcher in High Street, 3 pubs/hotels, 2 drive through liquor outlets, many cafes, bakeries, and take away shops including McDonalds and Subway. CLOTHES WASHING: I (your host) am happy to do a bag wash for you for $10/load washed and dried. I wash whatever you have put in the bag. I don't sort. TECHNOLOGY: There is WIFI but no TV. There are electric points for charging your devices in the Farm Shack. Internet access is free though the signal can be unreliable.

  • Lisa was a very hospitable host. The accomodation itself was very clean, and the views were breathtaking. We fed the sheep, chickens, ducks, geese and had many cuddles with the cats. We even made a campfire. Overall our experience was nothing short of amazing! Thank you Lisa

    Angel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It’s the perfect little place to stay. Highly recommend

    Tim2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in the barn! Lisa welcomed us very warmly and was always available when we had questions and gave us many tips for the area. A previous email from the associated B&B was a little confusing, as was the statement "breakfast included". Only a 1st small breakfast is included (as stated in the description). Also good to know: chickens live / stay in the covered kitchen area, so you really shouldn't be shy; D

    Rebecca & Nathanael2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway. Cosy. Lots of fruit trees and animals. Close to town. Loved the campfire with marshmallows. Lots of history too. We loved our stay and this is the quirkiest BnB we have stayed in so far. We will be back!!!

    Julie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is the most welcoming host. We immediately felt at home at the farm shack. The property itself is beautiful, complete with a plentiful orchard, a myriad of animals, and a lovely campfire. We will absolutely return, this is a gem of a place.

A humble heritage listed cottage built with convict bricks in the mid 1800s. Two fireplaces keep the cottage warm during the cold winters experienced on the Central Highlands. The house has been restored with all modern amenities and carefully and thoughtfully curated with a diverse collection of vintage and antique pieces which speak to the varied history of the cottage. Just 90 minutes from Launceston and 1 hour from Hobart, Bothwell is the perfect location from which to explore.
Cross the sandstone verandah and enter through the original front door. Step into the cosy living room with combustion stove, pour a whisky and settle into the comfy leather sofa. The master bedroom is to the left with an open fire and antique bed. To the rear is the kitchen and dining room. The bathroom has a restored clawfoot bath for you to luxuriate in. There is plenty of electric heating for the colder months. Through the rear door is a huge paved area and yard with outdoor seating to enjoy the warmer days. The combustion stove and open fireplace in the bedroom can be used if you're knowledgeable about their use. Wood for the fireplaces is supplied and can be found in the wood shed out the back. Wifi is available but there is no television. Please note that there is no dishwasher or microwave. There are no laundry facilities available. Bothwell has limited fresh food or grocery stores. I advise purchasing fresh fruit, vegetables and groceries before you arrive. I can recommend Hill Street Grocers in Hobart.
Bothwell is in Tasmania's beautiful central highlands. It was settled by farmers in the 1820s and still has a distinctive colonial character and old-world atmosphere today. Bothwell is a charming quintessential Aussie town, full of character. Although not pretty it is authentic, a true representation of of the characters who reside here. More than 50 buildings in Bothwell are heritage-listed for their architectural and historical value, so take a stroll along the wide streets and enjoy the details of built treasures that range from simple stone cottages to grand, elegant churches. For those interested in golf, Bothwell is home to one of the oldest golf courses in Australia at Ratho. Laid in the mid-1830s, the course has square putting greens and fairways maintained by grazing sheep. You can even play a round with traditional hickory clubs. Locals and visitors also come to the nearby lakes, rivers and reserves to fly fish for the elusive brown trout and hunt for game. There are world famous whisky distilleries for those who like a nibble and a tipple, too. Walk through the lovey village green and onto Sealys for a delicious morning tea or lunch. I recommend purchasing your fresh food and groceries before arriving as there is limited fresh supplies in Bothwell.
  • Communication was great. A lovely old home which has some fabulous antique furniture. I actually wished it was cold enough for a fire. Comfy bed with scrummy warm sheets. Everything spotlessly clean.

    Karen2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Not only was the Butcher's Cottage the most adorable place, but Vanessa was one of the best hostesses we've encountered. She was more than helpful from before the beginning to after the end of our stay. Bothwell is a very rural town but the perfect place to be away from the buzz of Hobart and a great location to get to the hikes which is why we're in Tasmania. We couldn't recommend this place more.

    Sonja2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm and welcoming place to spend the night. We noted and appreciated the love and care that has inspired the presentation of this property. This property offers an authentic taste of times gone by. The bath was fabulous and the house was kept cosy with open fire places We appreciated Vanessa’s personal touches and generosity in sharing her space with us... and all the resident rabbits !

Our charming cottage is close to parks, coffee shops, award-winning wineries, antique shops, The Agrarian Kitchen, National Parks, (15-20 minutes from) MONA, and (30 minutes from) Hobart. You’ll love our place because of its uniqueness: it's an historic kitchen quarters restored with modern conveniences. It's incredibly cosy: a pint-sized Georgian Cottage. Our place is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers looking for a welcoming and memorable experience.
The space is prepared to ensure your comfort - especially through Tasmanian winters - with safe, convenient and efficient electric heating, electric blankets on both beds, warm woollen blankets, and allergy-free doonas.

  • It was a special experience to stay in a cottage that represents so much history. Leyton is a fabulous host. I highly recommend a stay at Eliza's Cottage.

    Michelle2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely lovely, clean, well-equipped and exactly what it looks like on the pictures (which is not always the case on airbnb). Layton provided breakfast (toast, jam, butter, milk, orange juice, fruit, nuts) and even did the dishes for us. He was very helpful about where to go for a day trip and for food, the check in was easy, in total a great experience. I would highly recommend a stay at at Eliza‘s cottage and come back myself if I ever get the chance.

  • A unique, cute place perfect for a couple of days :)

    Valentina2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza's cottage is a fascinating little building, if you are tall be prepared to stoop - it's all miniscule, but worth it! - Layton is a welcoming and respectful host - highly recommend.

    Rachael2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Layton's little cottage during our trip to Tasmania. A charming little cottage in the area of New Norfolk, on the outskirts of Hobart. The place was easy to identify and just a short walk from the town centre. Layton is a great host, and checked on us often to make sure that we were comfortable. We would easily recommend this place to others

  • We travel with the hope to discover great places and meet nice people. We've had this chance to do both at Bridge House : a nice location near Mount Field and wonderful people to manage it. Merci Patricia and Greg :)

    Pascal2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful. Lovely hosts and one of the best stays imaginable. On the Airbnb rating system where five stars is the norm, this is a ten. Merci Greg et Patricia!

    Paul2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Greg and Patricia are super hosts for all reasons. Our late check-in was not a problem at all for them. Greg showed us to the cottage, lit up the old style wood fire which helped us to have sound sleep in this beautiful cosy cottage with comfortable beds and nice shower. We woke up to a nice bush land view that the property sits on. Staying at Bridge house was the perfect starting point to explore Mt. Field National Park. Greg's tips helped us explore more flora and fauna in the National Park. Home made bread and other breakfast options and a large book collection are part of this couple's great hospitality. Top notch. Thanks Greg & Patricia!

  • Wish we could’ve stayed longer! Wonderful breakfast provided and fantastic space. Can’t recommend enough!

    Patricia2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hospitality in a very charming background. Helpful to the max. Would come back in a heartbeat and wished we would have spent another night. If we could have given them more than five stars we would have.

    Doris2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Super host! An unique cabine in a quiet location close to Mount Field National Park. If you need something, you just have to ask it. Excellent breakfast! If we come back to Tasmanië we would stay there again!

    Geert2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia and Greg were wonderful hosts, they went out of there way to make our stay memorable, from delicious cake on our arrival, fantastic breakfasts which included homemade bread and other treats. Nothing was too difficult for them.

  • A great stay near Mt. Fields with a nice view from the porch. I had brought some food to cook, given the notes that dining options were limited, and found that the cookware was perfect for a simple meal.

  • Annette’s place was just what we needed after seeing the national parks in the area.It was peaceful and quiet with plenty of space. The best bit was watching the sheep in the neighbouring property being herded down the road in the morning prior to leaving. We would definitely return if we could.

My place is close to Mt Field National Park, Hobart, MONA, and The Central Highlands. In fact 90 minutes to all that Tasmania has to offer.. . You’ll love my place because of its true "Olde Worlde Charm" however offering everything a family is looking for in a central holiday home. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), groups, and furry friends (pets).
  • Gorgeous restored cottage with fruit and veg garden. Roger came over with a fresh loaf of bread still hot straight from the oven. Loved the fireplace. Highly recommend.

    Cathy2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful experience. Roger is a delightful host who welcomes you and shares his home, including the fruit in the garden! We enjoyed the open fire, the lovely freshly baked loaf of bread and amazing array of homemade jams.

  • McCauley's Cottage was one of our favourite places to stay while in Tasmania. We booked in for 3 nights. Hamilton is a fantastic location to use as a base for day trips. We visited Mt Field National Park, Westerway Raspberry Farm, New Norfolk, travelled through the highlands via Bothwell upto the Great Lake then down to Tarraleah and all the small towns along the way. Amazing country side. The house was very clean and comfortable. The kids loved eating from the berry tree's and bushes out the back of the property. Fresh hot bread on arrival with a huge selection of locally made jams in the fridge. Roger was a fantastic host. He runs the cafe just down from the cottage. Great food which you can eat there or he delivers if you want to eat at the cottage. Which was so good after a day out on the road. It was an absolute privilege and delight to stay at McCauley's. Built in 1840 with beautiful antiques right throughout the house. I can't recommend enough, please consider staying in this beautiful old house. You won't be disappointed.

    Debra2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic charm! Wonderful stay with warm hospitality. Great dining options at the adjacent cafe. Delicious!

  • This place is magical and full of good vibes. We stayed here just for a night on our way to Mount Field National Park (which is only 10 min away) and absolutely enjoyed our time. The king suite has everything one may need - great bed and shower, lot of books and garden sit out areas and the sunny verandah. We were immediately energized after a long drive. The entire farm is lovely, you can walk till the ponds and meet the alpacas, dogs and 🐈 on the premises.. the garden was in full bloom when we arrived and the beauty and peace was topped by Jenifa’s warm and friendly hospitality. We carried food supplies and the kitchen is perfect to make your own breakfast/ dinner if you chose to. Highly recommended!!

    Vartika2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful part of the world. Very comfortable and the fact that meals were available on request was a bonus. We loved meeting Jenifa and could have chatted for ages. Great pancakes too! Being close to Mt Fields National Park was just great.

    Bea2019-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views from the bedroom and sitting rooms. The bed was super comfy and everything was lovely and clean. Jennifa welcomed us beautifully and made sure we were well looked after. Highly recommended.

    Elizabeth2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with my husband and our three month old daughter. Really loved the outside space and that the kitchen is separate from the bedroom so we could relax and cook after bubs went to sleep instead of tiptoeing around. The walk around the back ponds is beautiful and we were cooked an absolutely amazing, fresh breakfast! Be aware before arrival that there isn't much close by for fuel and groceries so plan ahead if you're going to fend for yourself or plan to allow yourself to be spoiled by the amazing cooking!

    Jilliann2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a fabulous two night stay and were very impressed with Jenifa's cooking, and appreciate that she accommodated our dietary preferences (we're vegan)! A lovely property, comfortable rooms, good food and friendly hosts, what more could you want?

We shared with fellow travellers and the place is well setup with two well appointed bathrooms each with toilets and each room very comfortable and private, there were plenty of outside areas so you could mix or not depending on your preference, for us a shared dinner with our fellow travellers was one of the highlights of our trip to Tasmania. We would definitely recommend Rogers place to anyone travelling through the lovely town of Hamilton.

  • Roslyn Park is a fantastic place to stay. Even before we arrived Vince provided helpful information to assist with our travels. Vince and Ali are great hosts and we quickly felt at ease. The grounds are beautiful, common areas comfortable and full of charm, the room we stayed in was well appointed and had lots of little touches, like robes and slippers, that made you feel well taken care of. This extended to the the next morning where we were greeted with a hot breakfast, cooked to our preference. You can be involved as you wish and in our case we helped feed the goats and made sure both the cat and dogs got a good amount of attention. I highly recommend staying at Vince and Ali's

    Annegret2018-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house and gardens at Roslyn Park are exquisite. Vince and Ali's hospitality and welcome is wonderful. The breakfast which included a hot breakfast and Vince's homemade wholemeal bread was delicious. We stayed in the Blythe Room and enjoyed sitting at our table looking out over the gardens as the sun set and a full moon rose. The miniature goats in the front paddock came looking for food and were adorable, especially 3 day old George. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the house and this hops growing district and followed Vince's directions to visit the Text Kiln and other Oast Houses. We took advantage of the offer of dinner on our first night, which was delicious and good value and we felt like visiting family or friends.

New Norfolk is a quaint area of Tasmania's south west. Boasting the oldest pub in Australia and many an antique shop to find a quirky treasure. Charlie's Hut is approx. a 45min drive to Hobart's city centre.
  • This place is tops! We can’t recommend it highly enough. Stunning location, cosy and comfortable hut. We couldn’t ask for more, thanks for sharing such a special place with us. You do need 4wd to access hut as the hill was steep. Krzysztof was able to transport us and our luggage on arrival and departure and we enjoyed the 10min walk up and down the hill to come and go as we pleased during our stay.

  • A wonderful retreat in the most beautiful surroundings-full of bird song & with every modern amenity-luxury both ways!

    Timothy2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place was magnificent. Beautifully styled, tranquil setting we couldn't have asked for more. We all loved exploring the river and rocks, and enjoying the peaceful location. The kids loved playing board games and the fire. Thank you, we hope to return.

  • Charlie’s hut is a beautiful spot, pretty, peaceful, private and authentic. The hut has been done up very stylishly and spotlessly clean but you are still remote and get a true taste of rustic living....glamour cabining really. Great place to unwind and explore and relax in nature. The creek outside is absolutely charming.

    Carolyn2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a stylish and beautiful setting that offered a complete unplug from the pervasiveness of the internet and city life. Well designed and thoughtful space with all the comforts in the most picturesque place. I can’t remember the last time there was space to read the paper, play board games with my son or simply sit on the balcony to take in the spectacular view! Waking up to that vista every morning was wonderful. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and care we’d love to get back to you again.

    Cindy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie’s Hut is a beautiful place to escape to - a secluded little slice of paradise. Kids had a great time clambering over rocks exploring the creek and adults enjoyed the peace and tranquility. A perfect escape.

    Nikki2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely warm cozy cabin in a beautiful remote location. Sit and let nature come to you by the stream. Great place to get away from it all, and the wood fire oven was a treat to cook in. Bring some nice food and good company and you won't want to leave.

A cozy and quirky space to relax in before or after your adventures, conveniently located down the street from the bike park and near the General Store. Enjoy a hot chocolate looking out to Mt Field West and Tyenna Peak or put your feet up and relax on the couch. With an undercover 'atrium', gas fire, nbn internet, bose wifi/bluetooth speaker, bike storage and wash down deck, we can't wait for you to come and enjoy Funky Old Maydena! The property is secure for dogs and we welcome your pooches!
Sleeping arrangements consist of a queen bed in the master bedroom and a single/double bunk bed in the second bedroom. There is a wall mounted TV in the lounge above the open fireplace, with an HDMI cable to plug in your laptop for some evening movies or to stream the mountain bike world cup rounds on. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary basics to cook up a storm for the family or group of friends, and a barbeque is located in the undercover area outside. On the other side of the undercover space is a bungalow that contains the laundry and storage space near to the house. A larger shed contains the bike workshop and storage. In the undercover area you'll find a table and chairs, BBQ, pull out clothes line, sofa, dog bowls, and a large raised dog bed (big enough for George, our Great Dane). Walk around the back of the bungalow to find a purpose built bike wash down deck for pampering your ride after disrespecting it all day on the hill.
  • Funky Old Maydena was exactly what we were looking for! Very close to Maydena bike park, which is what brought us to town... comfortable beds, nice living space, great bike storage, etc.

    Howard2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is here that a mountain biker needs. Comfy beds, bike stands, pumps, tools. It’s brilliant to have a washer and dryer on site for those muddy days on the hill. The house looks great and is very clean and well present. There was nothing missing from our stay.

    Emma2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of six had a great stay in Maydena at Aidan’s place. Cozy cabin in the mountains, large outdoor space, easy and quick communication with Aidan. All went well and we’d stay there again.

Be one of the first to stay at these tastefully appointed brand new villas on the outskirts of Hobart. Relax and unwind as you experience the tranquil bush setting, with magical views of the River Derwent, vineyards and distant mountain ranges. In summer, enjoy watching boats on the river and variety of wildlife that frequently pay us a visit. In winter, look out over the phenomenon known as the ‘Bridgewater Jerry’ and watch the mist hug the river as it floats down the valley towards Hobart.
Relaxing and comfortable self contained living spaces fitted with brand new modern appliances including free Wi-Fi and Nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast pack available for first morning. Off-street parking available.
Enjoy the convenience of being situated close to many of the attractions Hobart has to offer. Located approx. 20 minutes from the historical township of Richmond, 15 minutes from MONA, and the gateway to the beautiful Derwent Valley including Mt Field National Park. Both Coles and Woolworths are only 5 minutes away.
  • What an amazing visit. Corrine is a great host and has put so much love and effort into making her bnb feel like home. Every room has been thoughtfully designed for the perfect short or long visit. The views are breathtaking and it was so nice to be away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough for a quick trip into town. I can’t recommend this hidden gem more highly. We will definetly be returning again soon.

  • A cozy and stylish villa, the perfect size for a couple. The location was within an easy drive into central Hobart and a great option if riding at Maydena MTB Park, but want to stay closer to the City. Wonderful views across the Derwent River and surrounding mountains from the back porch. Corinne was a great host and we had a wonderful stay.

You don't pay extra until after the 4th guest. Kallista Mountain Bike Cottage has been fully renovated and is now available. Perfect place to stay to experience the exciting Maydena Bike Park and surrounding areas. Book now to secure your chance to see what Maydena has to offer. We have changed our payment for extra guests after 2 people to 4 people to make our cottage stand out from the others. You won’t be disappointed !!!! FIRE WOOD will only be supplied throughout the colder months.
April has been blocked out due to the Coronavirus but please contact us if you are looking at staying. In the interest of the health and safety of all my guests, I’m asking everyone to answer the following questions before they book: In the last two weeks, have you or anyone you live with traveled to any areas that have been impacted by the coronavirus? Have you been diagnosed with, or suspect that you have contracted, the coronavirus? Do you currently have any travel restrictions in your area due to the coronavirus?” This cosy 1960's cottage features open plan living with a brand new kitchen that is fully equipped and includes a dishwasher and full laundry facilities. New carpet has been installed in the two generous sized bedrooms with the larger of the rooms featuring 1 x double bed and 2 single beds. The other room boasts a new queen size bed. A new Daiken reverse cycle heat pump has been installed for year round comfort or there is a beautiful free standing wood heater to use, the wood is stored down near the bottom shed and fire lighters in the cupboard under the kitchen sink but please be aware that we will only supply the fire wood throughout the colder months from April until August. Block buster is hanging on the inside of the shed door. The cottage is freshly painted throughout. A flat screen TV is mounted on the lounge wall along with an Xbox and a wide selection of DVD's and games. Kallista MTB Cottage is situated on a large parcel of land featuring off street parking (off Larkins Street) in the rear yard. There is a lockable shed with racks to hang your bike, helmets and equipment. There is also an area to wash your bike down after a fun day of riding. I have just installed an eight ball table in the shed, 25/02/18. Part of the planned renovations is to include a new deck at the rear of the cottage (this is to be built in early 2018 hopefully) which will be the perfect place to wind down, cook a snag on the new BBQ and have a few drinks whilst looking at the beautiful mountain views."DECK IS BUILT" I also plan on completing a full bathroom renovation with new shower and a 2nd toilet, this will hopefully be completed by the time winter hits in 2018. “Bathroom is completed” Maydena offers much more than mountain bike riding, it is the perfect base to explore the nearby Styx Valley, Mt Field National Park, Strathgordon, river fishing and the numerous walking tracks this magnificent location has to offer.
Quite peaceful location set in the pristine south west wilderness

The small riverside village of Maydena is the gateway to Tasmania's World Heritage wilderness and an ideal stop for those on their way to remote Lake Peddar. Maydena sits by the Tyenna River, south west of New Norfolk between Mount Field National Park and Lake Pedder. The village has a rich forestry heritage but is now better known for its close proximity to some of Tasmania's most beautiful natural places including Mt Field National Park and Southwest National Park. Mt Field National Park, before Maydena, is home to one of Tasmania's most beautiful waterfalls - Russell Falls, a tiered–cascade waterfall just a short walk from the park's visitor centre and one of several waterfalls in the vicinity. At Maydena, experiences include a walk though some of the tallest trees on earth at the Styx Big Tree Reserve and the Railtrack Riders - a unique pedal-powered experience on an historic stretch of railway track. Maydena Bike Park is a gravity-focused mountain bike park offering something for everyone, from families through to elite riders. The Summit café and bar located at the top of the bike park offers one of the most unique dining experiences in Tasmania, with unrivalled 360-degree alpine views across stunning Tasmanian Wilderness. Maydena also offers a range of great rainforest walks that take in local wildlife, towering swamp gums, river and cave systems, glacial lakes and ancient heath groves.

This quaint, 1920s cottage is ready for your holiday in the heart of the beautiful Derwent Valley. It has a wood heater in the main living area and firewood in provided. Views from the breakfast bar and deck look out over the Derwent Valley and Mt Field National Park. In renovating this property we have utilised rare and specialty Tasmanian timbers including Tasmanian Blackwood, Tasmanian Oak, Celery-top Pine and Blackheart Sassafras.
This home can sleep up to four people (two queen size beds) and has two bathrooms, one with a bath tub. The laundry has a washer and dryer, and the cottage sized kitchen has all the equipment you need to cook meals, including a small pantry containing basic condiments. There is a wood heater in the main living area and both bedrooms have plug-in heaters. All bed sheets, towels and shampoo/soap are provided for guest use. The Blackheart sassafras breakfast bar and the deck look out over the Derwent Valley and Mt Field National Park where you can see mountains peaked with snow in winter (and sometimes summer!). Mt Field National Park is a 45 minute drive away, the Derwent Valley Community Garden or the Saturday morning markets where you can find fresh, Tasmanian produce are within walking distance or a two minute drive and all other amenities (Woolworths, service station, pharmacy etc) are located around New Norfolk main street. As we are located within the Derwent Valley in southern Tasmania it does get cold during autumn and winter (and sometimes summer). We have also kept the original, polished Tasmanian Oak floorboards throughout this property instead of covering it with carpet. Please take this into account when staying during cooler weather. We find a warm pair of socks and a jumper never go astray while in Tasmania.
New Norfolk was established in 1806 and around the small, Tasmanian town you will see lots of lovely examples of houses from the years gone by. New Norfolk is known as a center for great Tasmanian food and beverages as we have the Agrarian Kitchen, Two-meter Tall Brewery, Stefano Lubiana winery and more. Mt Field National Park and the Maydena Mountain Bike Park are a short drive away, and from New Norfolk you can drive through to Tasmania's wild west coast towns of Strahan and Queenstown, and the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park.
  • Highly Recommended if you want a cosy comfy quiet house close to town. Beds and showers well appointed. Lots of cooking ingredients and books left to share. Would have preferred some fresh milk, OJ and brekkie stuff to start us off. Air con was too noisy to use for any length of time, but fortunately Tassie's lovely cool weather kicked in after the first hot muggy day and we were fine. New Norfolk and surrounds is a terrific historic area to explore and we had a great holiday. Thank you.

Any direction out of Hobart will lead you to amazing long sandy beaches and little bays as well as scenic drives through rolling hills or you can choose from many wine tours that meander through the wine regions past many popular vineyards. If you head north from New Norfolk you will drive past many hop and fruit farms before quickly entering the ancient forests, lakes Anne wilderness areas of Central Tasmania. Boating and fly fishing are very popular in the Central; Highlands with a large number of lakes and rivers to choose from. It is possible to book guides and adventure tours to provide guided access to some of the more unusual areas and the activities they offer but there are also many bush walks and trails which support the more adventurous in accessing these areas themselves. Please remember that the Tasmanian Wilderness can be forbidding and dangerous to those not well prepared due to sudden weather changes and potentially harsh conditions. Make sure your trips are well planned and that you are well equipped if being more adventurous and always sign yourself in and out from the more challenging bush walk in the record books provided at the beginnings of the walks. We are sure you will have a fantastic time in Tasmania and hope that you will find our little unit comfortable and relaxing as you explore the area.U

Quiet, extremely comfortable bed, friendly welcome, a wonderful "continental" breakfast with so many things to choose from and some hot coffee brewed and ready! And I was given good advice for what to see on my trip to Queenstown - The Wall at Derwent Bridge. I enjoyed my stay at Bushy Park very much. Highly recommended.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the Shearer’s cottage. The room was simple but all we needed; with a selection of towels, super comfortable bed and little treats for the fire. The kitchen, lounge and bathroom facilities were all sensational and well stocked for a big cook-up should you be interested. The property is fun, with ducks and geese who will come up and say hi. We even saw a few platypus in the lake! We came from New Norfolk and then headed to Lake St Claire & the Great Lakes and this was the perfect stopover spot to recharge the batteries. Would recommend highly.

  • I highly recommend Seryn and Matt’s bungalows. Our unit was bright, airy and spacious. The kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were very comfortable, and the washer/dryer in the unit was a plus. We slept very well with the windows open (in February). They were always very responsive to our questions and gave us great ideas on what to do while we were there. We stayed only one night, but if we could do it over again, we would have stayed several nights. Their place is immediately outside the entrance to Mount Field National Park. It is a three minute walk from the bungalows to the visitor center, from where you can take walks to Russell Falls and other areas of the park. The park comes alive after dark with lots of possums, wallabies and other animals; there is even a section to see glow worms, and someone said they saw a platypus in the stream. It is also a scenic 1 1/2 hour drive to Gordon Dam, which was well worth the trip.
