Tommy Bit is our shepherd's hut for 2 in Borrowdale, the heart of the Lake District. Enjoy fantastic views, cook up a meal on the campfire or curl up on the sofa in front of the wood burning stove. Fabulous walks from the hut to the lake and fells.
Please note, we can usually only offer arrivals on Fridays and Mondays. If you wish to arrive on a day other than Monday or Friday please get in touch and we can check if we can help you. Tommy Bit is our cosy, traditionally styled shepherd's hut in Borrowdale, the English Lake District, which is nestled at the foot of the fells with wonderful valley and woodland views. Shower and toilet facilities are in our barn about 40m away. Glamping at its best! Keep snug in the winter with Tommy Bit's wood burning stove, or cook outside in the summer on the fire pit. Relax after a day exploring the Lakes in our wood fired outdoor hot tub (£25 for exclusive use for a day, please book in advance). We provide tea & coffee and Tommy Bit has a kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge inside and a fire pit outside for you to cook up an outdoor storm! Or you can try one of the local hotels for dinner. Bed linen, towels, crockery, cutlery and appropriate cooking things are provided. Tommy Bit has a fold down small double bed (4ft wide instead of 4ft 6), which folds away, fully made up, into a sofa in the day. There is a folding table with stools inside as well as outdoor table and chairs. In case of rain, a tarpaulin can be suspended from wires above the outdoor area. There is a shared room nearby with washer, drier, lots of tourist information and puzzles and games that you can take back to the hut. We also provide all our guests with our 'walks from the door' which we have written ourselves: 12 walks of varying lengths that you can enjoy straight out of the gate.
Manesty is less than a mile from the Derwentwater lakeshore and about the same distance from the pretty village of Grange, with its teashops and double hump-backed bridge over the River Derwent. The 'Honister Ramber' bus takes you the 5 miles into Keswick (which has the nearest shops) from the doorstep between Easter and November, or the launch runs all-year round, as does a bus from Grange. We're in a perfect location for walks, water sports, touring the villages, or just sitting back to relax! We're at the foot of Catbells, which is well known as the Lake's favourite beginner's fellwalk, but there are also challenging day hikes up Scafell (the highest mountain in England) or relaxing rambles by the lake or in the woods.
  • Had a fantastic stay, Alan & Cheryl were amazing hosts who were really accommodating, and were always available if we ever needed them. Perfect place to stay near Keswick but feel like you are a million miles away, definitely a must place to stay

  • The Shepard’s hut is cosy and has everything you could need for a weekend away. We would definitely recommend the hot tub! The walks from the door are great too and there is something for all levels. Alan and Cheryl are great hosts and will make sure you have everything you need for a great stay.

  • My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here. The hut was lovely and cosy and we had everything we needed. We could tell a lot of thought had gone into ensuring visitors got the most out of their time here and we really appreciated all the information provided. In particular, the walks from the door were very useful and allowed us to do a couple of decent hikes despite not being familiar with the area. The location was absolutely fantastic with beautiful views - even better than we imagined! Would massively recommend booking the fire powered hot tub for the day which was a unique experience and it was lots of fun making the fire too!

  • The shepherds hut was fantastic!! Such a cute, homely space where we felt like we had got away from the world into this space of simplicity! Had to think about food before we went as there are limited cooking facilities. Comfortable and warm enough (we went over new year), lovely and cosy! Alan was great - he gave us lots of local tips and was clearly very passionate about the property. We didn’t get use of the hot tub sadly as it was booked up, however we never saw it in use during our stay. Would recommend :)

  • We stayed for 3 nights in the shepherd’s hut and have not a bad word to say about our time. The space was clean and comfortable and cosy. The views were stunning. Communication from Alan and Cheryl was fabulous. We were told all we needed to know and more and really appreciate the effort that is made to make sure we got the most from our trip like Alan’s knowledge of the local area and the walks from the door. The facilities by the accomodation were also absolutely great and we didn’t want for anything. Despite visiting in December and the weather leaving a lot to be desired our stay was comfortable and we were warm and cosy. We hired the hot tub and would definitely recommend. It was a treat even in poor weather. The walk into Keswick was an easy one and it’s such a lovely town. A fantastic spot for a few nights away from the hustle and bustle. We will definitely be back!

  • Great place to get away from it all-thankyou.

  • Alan & Cheryl are wonderful, attentive and hospitable hosts. Their cabin was comfortable and quaint. Perfect if you're seeking an escape from the city and a calming weekend in nature. Definitely recommend the hot tub!

    Keswick, England, United Kingdom

A very compact (small) double room with a beautiful view across the valley. Village location. Suited for both flat and fell walks. Four and a half miles from market town of Keswick with a variety of eating and shopping choices. Our rooms are priced in line with the youth hostels in the valley and are considerably less expensive than other accommodation. Our non-provision of towels forms part of our effort to keep prices as low as possible.
Our location is perfect for anyone wanting a quiet location with immediate access to walks from the door. Guests are invited into our home where they have use of a shared bathroom. Their room is very compact and there minimal floor space between the bed, chair and wardrobe and the bed is accessible from only one side; it is equiped with TV. They can access the kitchen for tea/coffee and also the garden if the weather is good. The bbq is available by prior arrangement and a small fee. At an additional cost of £5 per person we provide breakfast of cereals, eggs, toast and preserves each morning from 8.30 to 9am. Guests may be asked to cook this themselves if I am at work, however if I am home then they may relax whilst it is prepared for them. Please note that cooking of other meals in the kitchen is not possible. As we live here too our guests will undoubtedly see us around, we are happy to chat and assist in any way to make their stay pleasant and comfortable but we are mindful that guests will want to spend their time peacefully together. To this end the rooms are equipped with sky tv. The neighbourhood is quiet but friendly. There are frequently a lot of tourists and walkers in the village and there are two nice cafes within half a mile (please note that both of these cafes close at around 5.30 in the afternoon). Public transport is the local bus service with buses running to the nearest town (Keswick) hourly in the summer season (less frequently during the winter months). I have two dogs (non-moulting) and a cat, so those who don't like animals may prefer to stay in an animal free house. Please note that due to poor internet service, we are no longer able to offer this.
The neighbourhood is quiet but friendly. There are frequently a lot of tourists and walkers in the village and there are two nice cafes within half a mile.
  • The stay at Evy's home was very nice. The neighbourhood is beautiful! Evy is a very kind, sympathic person and her dogs also lovely 😊 recommended!

  • Great place to stay in the Lake District. We were very happy with the space of the rooms and the electric bed warmers. It was a nice touch. Evy was very welcoming and a kind and generous host. Beautiful home . Would recommend to anyone considering staying here!

  • Evy was an excellent host. She was very welcoming and kind. The room was comfortable and very affordable. We felt well looked after and I would definately choose Evy's to stay at again when we return to the Lake District.

Our self contained studio is in the heart of the Lake District National Park in north west England. It has stunning valley, forest and woodland views from the window. Our nearest town is Keswick (just 5 miles by bus, boat, boot or car).
Our studio apartment is in the English Lake District. With it's own entrance, super king size bed, dining area, en suite shower and separate kitchenette it has everything you need for a short break (or longer!) away in the Lakes. We can usually only accommodate arrivals on Mondays and Fridays, please get in touch if you wish to arrive on another day and we will see if we can accommodate you. Cocklety How Studio is in the first floor of a converted 17th Century barn at Manesty in Borrowdale, in the heart of the Lake District. The studio has its own entrance at the back of the building at ground level (first floor). The galley kitchenette has a combination oven/grill/microwave, hob-plate, kettle, toaster and fridge with icebox. The super-king bed can be made up as two singles. The Studio has a great view over the valley of Borrowdale. By the entrance is a private sunny patio looking up into the woodland, home to owls, rare red squirrels and other little mammals. You are free to explore the wood, which is also where our wood-fired hot tub is found - this is available for £25 per day for exclusive use, please book in advance.
Manesty is less than a mile from the Derwentwater lakeshore and about the same distance from the pretty village of Grange, with its teashops and double hump-backed bridge over the River Derwent. • Lovely place in a great area for walking and very close to Keswick (10 mins in the car). Great hosts with a lot of local knowledge and the place was spotless. The only little problem that we had was that there was no lighting around the hot tub so it was absolutely pitch black by the time we got in - would be much better in the lighter nights though! We are definitely hoping to return in the nicer weather.

    Aimee2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly, helpful hosts and beautiful location. Everything you need in the studio and the rustic hot tub is great!

    Renol2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Alan and Cheryl are incredibly welcoming and gave us great tips for the area, including some good walks from right outside the door. The room itself was exactly as described.

    Sarah2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alan and Cheryl are fantastic hosts. Extremely friendly and helpful yet professional and efficient. One of the best AirB&B stays I’ve had. Highly recommended.

    Karl2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Alan & Cheryl’s, they provided amazing accommodation close enough to Keswick for ease but also remote enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. They had great recommendations for activities, locations to visit, as well as a great list of walks. Thank you very much for the lovely stay

    Ingvar2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Alan and Cheryl’s place was exceptionally well located for our first trip to the Lake District, within 10 minutes drive of Keswick and 15 minutes drive to the start of the corridor route up Scafell Pike. The studio was clean and spacious with everything you would need for a weekend away. We really appreciated the advice on local walks and pubs/restaurants (a few of which are within easy walking distance from Manesty). If you fancy treating yourself there is also a very nice spa close by with an outdoor pool placed on the edge of lake Derwentwater.

  • Neat and cosy place in an incredible location. Cheryl and Alan were helpful and friendly at every step and provided a lot of good recommendations.

We are in the Beautiful National Park of the English Lake District. Keswick is on the two Lakes of Bassenthwaite and Derwent Water. Whinlatter Forest offers some superb Mountain Biking and Walking trails and is a 15 minute drive from the cottage. The cottage is in a residential area. • Fabulous cottage on the outskirts of Keswick . The cottage is beautifully furnished and the beds are comfortable with good quality bedding and pillows. A perfect holiday home for a family with a great spacious kitchen dining area . Lots of lovely touches and plenty information about the local area . The Pheasant Inn across the road is a must and serves delicious home cooked food . We would certainly stay in Apple Cottage again .

The Rest Wing is fully Vegan en-suite private annex at Birdsong on the edge of town, in a relaxing location, with parking. Only 5 mins walk from the centre of Keswick (Moot Hall) and from the Theatre by the Lake by Derwent Water. Well socialised dogs welcome plus shared use of a large, fully fenced rear garden. Basic Vegan breakfast (coffee, juice, toast, cereal) included. If you would like a Full Vegan English cooked then we ask for £5 pp donation to one of our three preferred Vegan charities.
Vegan guests or vegan curious. No meat, fish, dairy, eggs or honey to be consumed/brought onto the premises as we are a fully vegan household. Carpets and furnishings are all Vegan too. Well socialised dogs are welcome to stay and will be spoilt with vegan treats, toys and our own two dogs to play with. Dogs should be accompanied by their owners at all times and not left in the room unattended. With the exception of a puppy-cage (for safety overnight) we are against caging any animal and would prefer it if guests do not cage their fur-baby during their stay. Whilst we are a fully vegan household, we do appreciate it is not easy to change a dogs diet for a stay away , therefore we accept you may need to bring non-vegan dog-food so we allow all types of dog-food provided it is not raw. All types of kibble and pre-packaged wet food are ok. Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate/cater for anyone with nut-allergies due to the high volume of cross-contamination of nuts.
Keswick is the dog walking capital of Europe! We are on a quiet road on the outskirts of Keswick Town Centre. Easy walking to shops, fells and lake.
  • Mike and rosies beautiful home completely exceeded our expectations, keswick where they are situated is such a beautiful area, my words cant do this stay justice. I can not fault a single thing, 5 stars just aren't enough! Mike and rosie were the best hostes anyone could ask for! 100% reccomend!

  • Mike & Rosie's hospitality is out of this world. The location is a 3 minutes walk from Keswick, so super handy. The room is beautiful and sparkling clean, with amazing views to the hills. Breakfast was incredibly good, we recommend trying Mike's homemade granola. If you want hosts that go the extra mile, they are the ones!!

  • Mike and Rosie made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. They really are amazing hosts and such lovely people. The food and baked goods were so lovely, coming back from a big walk to a pot of tea and baked goods was amazing! We will definitely return! I cannot recommend this stay enough 😊

    Amber2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We've just arrived home in Oxfordshire after a wonderful few days away staying with Mike and Rosie. All 4 (2 humans and 2 pooches) of us were welcomed so warmly on Saturday evening after a horrible drive up through storm Dennis! Mike makes delicious treats! Oh my goodness, they are next level of yum. The dogs were thrilled with their mini dog hamper full of treats and a toy. The shower was bliss, bed was comfortable. Nothing was too much and we both felt reluctant to come home today. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will most definitely stay again, next time with a moses basket 😊 Rachael, Jake, Bandit and Lilly x

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Hosts supplied the basics bread, milk eggs etc which was much needed after a long trip from Newcastle. The place was spotless. En-suite in each bathroom. Fire pit in the back garden helped warm the cold nights. Fast to respond and very polite. Definitely recommend.

Delightfully compact wooden cabin/summerhouse situated in quiet garden location with wonderful views. Perfect for experiencing the outdoor lifestyle but with some creature comforts such as log burning stove, kettle and toaster, radio and microwave, and area for preparing drinks & snacks. Our rooms are priced in line with local youth hostels and are considerably less expensive than other accommodation. Our non-provision of towels forms part of our effort to keep prices as low as possible.
The space is a 10x10 room housing a seating area that becomes the bed, a fridge, toaster and tea making facilities. The best thing about this space is the peace and quiet, to lie in bed with the doors open and to see and hear and smell the countryside. Please note that the experience is similar to 'glamping' in that the bathroom facilities require you to leave the space and walk - taking your toiletries etc with you. Guests preferring their own/nearby bathroom might prefer booking an hotel. Please note that parking is freely available on the road to the right of the gate. Due to lack of space, we don't have parking on the drive. We have a minimum booking of two nights - however if you find a single unbooked night - or only want to book for one night, then please get in touch and we'll try to help whenever possible.
This is a quiet, peaceful and friendly neighborhood. The very best thing about it is the views from every direction. There are several places to eat in the area. There are two cafes in the village for daytime eating but these close at 5.30pm and so evening meals require a journey of at least a mile.
  • Lovely place to stay if you want to relax and have a time out. Cabin is kept really warm with the heater and easy to use fire place. The electric blanket is a nice touch too. The view from the Cabin each morning is beautiful with walking paths very close and easy to get to. Evy is a great host too! Welcomes you into her home and provides anything you need :) Highly recommend!

  • Lovely venue with an amazing view. All the fun of camping - but without the wet sleeping bags!

    Richard2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for a secluded and intimate trip away. Great rural location (One morning saw deer at the end of the garden whilst we ate our breakfast!), Amenities of Keswick nearby and some lovely walks in your doorstep. Evy was a great host. Very welcoming and helpful with places to go and things to do. We especially appreciated her hospitality after my partner broke her arm whilst we were visiting. We were a little worried about the warmth of the hut as we were visiting in January, but we need not have worried. The mixture of the log burner, electric heater and electric blanket kept us very warm. Our only issue during our stay was braving the trip to the loo in the rain. If you don't mind that or have access to a decent umbrella I would recommend you stay with Evy.

    Chris2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy space in a small hut in Evy’s spacious garden. Very secluded and quiet but only a short drive to Keswick. Great base for walkers. Evy was very friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome in her home.

    Tom2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Evy's for two nights and really enjoyed it - lovely views and the hut was well insulated enough that we didn't get cold, though the electric blanket and fire would have helped us if we had been. Evy was friendly and kept in touch - would stay again.

    Francesca2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was very lovely and perfect for staying near all the great hikes in the Lake District. The cabin had everything you needed. Also the bed was cleverly built so you could have it down or have more space in the cabin. I would recommend it for the price it it

  • I just spent a few nights at Evy’s Garden Dwelling and was not disappointed. I booked fairly impulsively after becoming overwhelmed with work in the city and needing some alone time away to clear my head and this space did just that. Being mid October, I was a little apprehensive about being cold at night but this was far from an issue! The bed is very comfy with a thick duvet and the cabin is equipped with an electric heater, electric blanket and a wood/coal stove (which was one of my favourite touches). I opted to use the stove each night and kept the heater ticking over on low during the day which worked perfectly for me. The location is perfect as it’s remote and tucked away with great views, but also only a short drive away from Keswick (where I personally chose to eat in the evenings)... There is also a cafe and just down the road should you be feeling lazy like me and not opt to prepare food at the space. I loved planning my days in the morning at the cabin with a cup of tea and then spending my time hiking, driving, roaming and used the Ullswater Steamers to get up close with the Lakes. Evy is very friendly and approachable, she explained everything I needed to know and allowed my space to relax while also being available should I need anything (mostly more firewood). Thanks again Evy, I hope to see you again soon :)

  • After two duds recently, this modern property in the heart of Keswick has restored my faith in Airbnb. I was particularly grateful for the curved screen and Netflix (I'm a simple guy), but the little touches such as Lake District photography and books were a nice surprise. The entrance to the property was a little tricky to locate in the dark; thereafter it was plain sailing and a joy to stay at.

    Matthew2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • I was very happy at Chaucer’s Retreat, it was very clean and modern and being just a short walk from Keswick town centre and Derwent Water is in a great location. I’d highly recommend.

  • We had a great long weekend in Keswick, the house is in a great location about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Keswick. We enjoyed walking through the park and swimming at the leisure pool which are both very close to the house. The house had everything we needed (including a highchair for our baby) and was very comfortable, it was a lovely place to spend time. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Keswick.

Superb one bedroom, ground floor, self catering holiday apartment overlooking the River Greta and Fitz Park. Recently renovated to a very high standard, the apartment is within a short walk of the town centre and has parking. It offers one double bedroom, a very nice lounge/dining room with door to the balcony overlooking the river, a luxurious shower room with oversized shower, and a well fitted modern kitchen. It is a real home from home!
The apartment is located on the ground floor and has a balcony which overlooks the river and Fitz Park with views towards Latrigg. Whether guests want to walk the fells, mooch around the town or just relax, it is the ideal location. It has a double bedroom, lounge/dining room, luxury shower room with a walk in quadrant shower and a beautiful fully equipped kitchen. It also has a modern, energy efficient heating system making it ideal for all year round breaks. It has private parking (limited to one car per apartment) and is just a few minutes level walking from shops, public houses and restaurants in the Town Centre
The Lake District is arguably one of the most attractive parts of the country. Keswick is the main tourist centre of the North Lakes and offers a wide range of attractions for visitors. Set on the shores of Derwentwater and nestling at the foot of the fells, it is an excellent holiday destination. Whether you are seeking an activity break or just looking for some tranquil relaxation, Keswick is the ideal place. The beauty of the scenery made Keswick a mecca for poets and painters at the beginning of the 19th Century. Coleridge lived in the town from 1800 the likes of Tennyson and Wordsworth were also frequent visitors. Today, the area combines scenic beauty with a full range of facilities from shops and restaurants to museums and the Theatre by the Lake, and from restful boating trips or strolling around, to energetic fell walks. Greta Side Court is an ideal place to stay. Located close to the Town Centre, the building is situated on the banks of the River Greta and overlooking Fitz Park. The building was constructed in the early 19th Century using local stone and slate and was originally a pencil mill which opened in 1832. After pencil production was relocated, the building had a variety of uses before being converted to self catering holiday apartments
  • Our second week long visit in this contemporary apartment ideal for disabled. Everything to our liking including the extra welcome milk, coffee, tea, biscuit and wine. • This is a modern flat that had everything we needed for a few days in Keswick. Plenty of space to store walking kit (especially as the weather wasn't kind to us!!) and a warm, comfortable place to come back to after a hard day in the hills. There is a well equipped kitchen if you'd like to cook for yourself although there are many lovely restaurants in the town! The bathroom is well designed with a lovely shower, a much needed necessity after walking! The flat is a few minutes from the town with all the shops and amenities we needed. Would highly recommend and would not hesitate to stay again.

The 'Hideaway' is a fully vegan private room (at 'Birdsong') that is tucked-away at the end of the utility room. The shower & separate toilet are exclusive for guests but not en-suite as accessed via the utility room (we use the utility room between 11am-6pm only). 'Birdsong' (with stunning views) is located on the edge of town, in a relaxing location, with parking. Only 5 mins walk from the centre of Keswick (Moot Hall) and from the Theatre by the Lake by Derwent Water.
Basic Vegan breakfast (coffee, juice, toast, cereal) included. If you would like a Full Vegan English cooked then we ask for £5 pp donation to one of our preferred Vegan charities. Vegan guests or vegan curious. No meat, fish, dairy, eggs or honey to be consumed/brought onto the premises as we are a fully vegan household. Well socialised dogs are welcome to stay and will be spoilt with vegan treats, toys and our own two dogs to play with. Plus shared use of a large, fully fenced rear garden.
We are happy to recommend local walks, places of interest or cafe / restaurants. We can help you book tickets for shows at the Theatre, for cinema or any other attractions if it makes your stay easier.
  • A very friendly welcome and a lovely place to stay in Keswick would highly recommend this place

  • Mike and Rosie's place is the next best thing you can get after your own home. The place is awsum but Mike and Rosie are an added bliss to it.Mike 's wonderful food and Rosie's hugs makes you feel at home. The view from the hideaway is refreshing ,specially when in the morning the light falls on the mountains and trees. Also Mike prepared a wonderful pastry as a welcome treat which was lovely. The place had a zen house which I missed this time but would surely love to try next time. They also have 2 lovely dogs who are overly cute and friendly. Thanks again for making the stay so much special.

This delightful one bedroom studio apartment, maintained by the owner, is the ground floor of a stone-built terraced cottage. It is within easy walking distance of all Keswick's amenities and is an ideal base from which to explore this superb part of the Lake District on foot, bicycle or by car. Comfortably furnished and spacious, it has a French door leading to the patio and shared garden. It is well equipped; includes wifi, tv, washing machine, maps and guides.
Garden Apartment is only a few minutes level walking distance to the shops, pubs, restaurants and attractions of Keswick. Just over the road and the footbridge across the River Greta lies Fitz Park, with its riverside meadows, woodland and gardens, tennis courts, bowling greens and superlative children’s play area. The magnificently refurbished Victorian museum has a cafe that looks over the park. A few metres away is the tropical leisure pool with its slide and wave machine. And ten minutes walk brings you to the Theatre By The Lake which has a most varied and interesting programme of plays, music and events to suit all tastes throughout the year.
  • Steve’s place is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a getaway in Keswick. We loved how close it was to the town center. We traveled with our infant daughter and it was terrific for our needs.

  • Excellent accommodation, well located and spacious.

    Margot2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, central location, with a fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, sofa and TV. Steve is a great host - very responsive and thoughtful. He even added maps of the area and a drying rack in the kitchen, which we appreciated for our hikes. We enjoyed our stay very much.

    Tobias2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent, immaculate and very comfortable apartment only a few minutes walk from central Keswick. Arrangement of the accommodation has been very well thought out and it is so easy to find your way around and settle in - with very clear written instructions provided, if you arrive as I did, when Steve was away. The good range of kitchen equipment, gas cooker, gas rings, microwave oven, toaster, fridge freezer and washing machine all seemed virtually in mint condition, and the kitchen itself was of good size. There is a much wider range of cutlery, kitchen utensils etc than I expected as well as extra glasses and crockery if for example you plan to entertain. A useful range of condiments, and items like cooking oil also comes in very handy. The sitting room and bedroom can be separated with a drawn curtain and both areas have been tastefully furnished, with a pleasing selection of pictures, floral decorations and occasional tables and lamps giving a comforting home from home feel for the accommodation. There are several shelves of miscellaneous books, a complete set of local ordnance survey maps and plenty of information about local walks and other attractions accessible from Keswick. Local bus timetables, and parking disks for central areas of Keswick are also provided. I would have felt very comfortable spending the day indoors had the weather been inclement! There is no tumble dryer though an umbrella style washing line is available to dry clothes in the garden outside and there is a creel in the kitchen which certainly dried light garments overnight. The toilet and shower room has a timed heated towel rail. The shower itself was very efficient and generated warm water very quickly on demand and the temperature control worked well. As is often the case the lighting in the main room was a little subdued but a modern style of standard lamp which has a combination swan neck adjustable lamp is provided to give a bright pool of light when reading maps etc. Communication with Steve was very easy, friendly and efficient though I didn't actually meet him until his return from a holiday at the end of my stay. Though the surrounding streets are heavily parked I never faced a problem finding a parking space close to the apartment when returning in the late afternoon. I would certainly thoroughly recommend this superb accommodation which is very well set up for a couple.

    David2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay - the whole place was a lot bigger than I expected. It had everything we needed, was a nice space to relax in and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Steve!

  • Great house and perfect location for the centre of Keswick. It was exactly as I’d expected it to be given the reviews

  • Fabulous clean, well equipped and homely house with lots of space for our annual girls (of a certain age) weekend away. Great open kitchen/dining/living area so we could all be together while people were cooking and others were watching them cook! Walking distance into Keswick and cheap (£3.20) taxi back for the lazier members of the party to avoid the steep hill! I’d highly recommend a stay there and am looking forward to a return trip next January!

    Judith2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great air bnb, very good value for money and the kitchen and living area is really big. It's not one of those airbnbs where some of the beds are the sofas. There are many lovely bedrooms. Showers worked well with plenty of hot water and the heating was good (lots of spare heater if you get cold!) Would thoroughly recommend for a large group who need a base camp near keswick.

  • Great house situated in an amazing and convenient location!!!

    Mirko2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our families stayed there for 2 nights and the house is really nice for a group of people. The well equipped kitchen allowed us to have a nice breakfast in the morning and we enjoyed the view very much. Just beware that there is a long steep ramp if you walked from town and with your luggages to the house.

  • Lovely social living accommodation, plenty of parking and lots of bathrooms. A great place to stay with friends or extended families!

    Caroline2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious dwelling, mixture of modern and period features. Plenty of space for the 7 of us that stayed in Castlerigg Lodge. Well appointed and very clean , we felt this was good value for money for our 2 night stay. Tea/coffee/milk were provided - most welcome after long and difficult journey. Easy to find and close to the town , but with the grounds, we didn't feel as hough we were staying in a residential area.Very happy to recommend this property to future guests .

Message us about Jan/Feb, Armathwaite Hall spa experience at small extra price. Quirky decor and very light, plenty of windows with lovely views. Coffee and tea and maybe home made cakes if any have been made that day! and breakfast can be arranged if wanted, ( cereal, toast etc) at a small additional price. There is a patio with table and chairs and garden, to sit out in for meals, or at any other time, to look at the mountains. There is a DVD player with the tv. DVDs lent if wanted.
The cottage is completely self contained, and has a full kitchen, with oven, hob, fridge, and all utensils, crockery etc. Baking equipment also. It doesn't have a washing machine.
Very near to Keswick town centre ,only 5 minutes walk if that, into the Market square, but in a Residential area, on a road leading to some lovely walks within minutes, including by the lake. The George pub, the oldest in Keswick, is our local. The famous Keswick market is on Thursday and Saturdays. Many air B and B guests walk to the lake and take a launch either all the way round it, or part way, and walk the other part, stopping at a pub or cafe on the way.
  • Helen was a great host. The cottage is well located and has great views from the windows. Was perfect for a weekend in the hills.

    Jillian2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location whether you are a photographer like me or just away for a little break. Helen is a total gem looked after me in every way possible, nothing was ever a problem. The flat was very comfortable and cosy and perfect after a cold and wet day at Derwentwater... will definitely be back :D

  • Great place to stay in centre of Keswick every thing you need right in the doorstep

    Jackie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a homely and cosy apartment, which is extremely well equipped. We stayed in February and we were warm and cosy inside, with everything we needed to hand. Helen and her family are welcoming and friendly. The views are beautiful and the town is a short walk away. All in all, a fantastic place to stay.

    Clare2020-02-18T00:00:00Z

Please Read !!!! We are not a hotel, our pricing reflects this the closest to us in price is 110 per night , please take this into account when booking. A lovely double room right in the centre of Keswick. Located on the market square, it is one of 3 rooms (up two flights of stairs) above a busy bar. There is no dedicated parking with this listing.
The room is a double with shared bathroom. The rooms are located upstairs in a popular town centre bar (don't worry - it is two floors up and therefore bar noise is limited we cannot however control noise that comes from outside). . If you wish to have an earlier breakfast then we provide a continental style breakfast which you can have at any time you choose.
Keswick is a lovely market town located in the North Lake District.
  • Great location in the heart of keswick. Friendly hosts and good value

    Tony2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this place will win you over, smack in the middle of the town with everything you need right at your door step. I had sent some queries on airbnb messenger but there was no response, however a phone helped there. Rooms are on second floor, lady at the pub helped me get luggage upstairs. Breakfast is good too to start your day and bar downstairs to end your day with a drink or two, sit outside to see the world go by if you are travelling alone or need some me time.

    Jasodha2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Accurate description. Excellent central location.

    David2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This room is on the third floor of a pub and is cheaper than anywhere else I could find in Keswick by a long way. It is clean and comfortable with a modern clean bathroom just across the landing shared with another room. There is a third room with an ensuite and that costs more. On the second floor there is scruffy room where there is a selection of tea, coffee, fruit juices, cereals, toast, preserves, ham, yoghurts and cheese. This is "help yourself". There are also the usual drinks/biscuits in the room. I stayed on a Friday night and the pub was hosting a live blues band. I could not hear the noise coming from inside the pub, but the bedroom window is over the front door of the pub and also faces the street. This is the main pedestrianised street so there is plenty of noise from people leaving the multiple venues around and about. I expect the noise is the reason why the price is so cheap. It was Friday night and was quite after 12.30ish. However, all the other places in this street that are more expensive will also have the same amount of noise unless the rooms are situated around the back. There are markets on Thursday and Saturday so on those mornings the setting up of the stalls makes quite a racket from about 5.45am onwards. That said, I did have the window wide open. The curtains are heavy so no light was coming through and also the rooms face west so there is no sunrise to wake you up. I would stay again.

    Charlotte2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice room straight above the pub, 12pm checkout was absolutely ideal and having the space to store our bags during the day was also enormously helpful

    Dom2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing. The staff made it. They are so attentive and a credit to the golden lion. They made out stay and for the price you can't ask for any more.

    Sarah2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were pleasantly surprised by the room and bathroom that seem to have been redone. The included breakfast was full, there was even enough to prepare a hot drink in the room. I had seen some bad reviews on booking and I did not find anything negative though so we were very pleased. We were also well received and were able to check in earlier than expected.

    Sandra2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. We spent one night at Simone's. We loved the bathroom. Very clean and a wonderful strong and hot shower. The bed was comfy. Simone was very welcoming and friendly.

Thirwall location and unique setting providing stunning views (yes the photos's are real) of some of our Lakeland Fells makes it the perfect choice for anyone wanting to experience the lakes, either form the am chair with a cup of tea or from the top of Blencathra.
This beautifully presented two bedroom bungalow which sleeps up to four and one dog is located at the foot of Blencathra mountain in the popular village of Threlkeld near Keswick. Due to the unique location of Sunnyside guests can enjoy the spectacular views of St John's in the Vale and mountain ranges such as Helvellyn and Great Dodd from the comfort of their own living room, terrace or the garden. Thirwall offers the benefits of a modern, well presented single level accommodation for families or couples, either wanting an outdoor based holiday or just pure relaxation.
Threlkeld is a peaceful, traditional lakeland village which has two village inns both of which serve local ales and bar meals, a coffee shop, Post Office. The village is ideally situated for Keswick and Derwentwater, the Central Lake District. Offering numerous attractions including Beatrix Potter, William Wordsworth, Go Ape, spectacular mountain scenery, lakeland villages and lakes. Alternatively head west to Cockermouth the birth place of William Wordsworth and Jennings Brewery.
  • Cosy and spacious bungalow with an amazing view across the valley towards the hellvelyn ranges. The amenities were ideal for us to self cater and the rooms were comfy. The rooms are neutrally decorated but stylish enough and the bathroom looked to be fairly newly fitted. We took our toddler (not yet 2) and he had plenty of room to run around & play. Being all on one level meant that we had no concerns about steps etc. The place was fairly childproof with only the corners of the dining table to watch out for. All in all we would gladly go back here. The location is convenient for many towns, walks and attractions.

    Andrew2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is just stunning. Spotless and perfectly located the welcoming, humble village of Threkheld on the edge of many of the great mountain ranges within the Lake District. Very reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back 💚

    Daniel2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cosy bungalow is the perfect base to explore the Keswick area. We stayed over new year and it was a pleasure to come home to at the end of each day. The view from the living room is stunning especially at the start and end of each day. Blencathra is right on the doorstep and you can step outside the front door and almost straight into the hill.

    Kenny2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Well what can I say , this cottage is absolutely amazing , clean , everything you need , the views wow wow wow never stopped anywhere as spectacular as this cottage absolutely beautiful , plenty of walks close by very friendly village too ,local pub does amazing food and really friendly and helpful

  • Lovely property. Clean, tidy and extremely comfortable. Wonderful view from the sitting room. Easy to find in a quiet village and perfectly located for exploring the area. I would certainly recommend this property.

    Jane2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. The bungalow is spacious, clean and equipped to a high standard. We were surprised to find plenty of towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, loo roll etc provided. The view is beautiful and there are plenty of places to enjoy it both inside and in the immaculate gardens. Val was on hand to help and Rachel was quick to deal with an issue with the patio door. Our teenage children were staying in a room each off the garden and this worked well to give them some space of their own!

  • A beautiful and cosy cottage, with everything you would need in a prime location. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Ellie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing find! One of the best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in. The perfect base for exploring the Lake District. The cottage was so cozy and homely. A quick and easy walk down to the great shops, cafes and restaurants in Keswick but just far enough for it to be a lovely quiet location away from the main town centre. We loved the view of the snowy mountains from the bedroom window and the jacuzzi bath! Will definitely be returning! Thank you Kerry and Ade

    Lewie2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • It’s such a beautiful space and great location. Despite the weather we managed to go for a short walk on the Saturday. And then when storm Dennis blew in, we were so snuggly and cosy in the beautiful lounge. It’s stylish and comfortable, very welcoming and there is everything you could need. Loved it!

    Ellie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful, great location and the jacuzzi bath is great-especially after a long hike.

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for somewhere gorgeous to relax while you take in the lakes - the Strawberry Cottage is the perfect location. It's less than five minutes from the town center, so shops, snacks, and dinner are sorted. It's a bit further to walk to the lake, but the whole walk is gorgeous. I cannot say enough good things about this property - the whole place screams home away from home, down to the tiniest details. Not to mention, that jacuzzi tub....... Just wow. I will most definitely be back!!

    Brie2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Really great location (only downside is there is no parking at the house) but the car park we used wasn’t too far to walk! The house had everything you could wish for and check out the jacuzzi bath it was lush! The beds were so so comfy! Would definitely return! Adrian and Kerry are great hosts😃

Central studio with king size bed and private shower room. Great location for Keswick base. Pet friendly with Wi-fi
Updated with new memory foam mattressThis second floor studio has a king size bed, living space with kitchenette (fridge & mini freezer, microwave , mini grill, kettle and toaster) with dining table and a relaxing space with shower room alongside. This is a great location for a base camp to have a great night out in Keswick or to explore the lakes. This is a pet friendly space however numbers are limited to 2 due to space. As this is a pet friendly space allergy sufferers may be affected. Please note this is a studio rather than a flat (air bnb don’t have an option for studio) which means the space is limited please ask if you have further questions however
