  • Great place! I definitely recommend the place and would stay again!

  • This is a lovely place to stay! We really enjoyed the porch and yard spaces. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals and it is convenient to the main street and the lake front. I highly recommend.

    Peggy2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is as described, beautifully furnished with Victorian antiques on the ground floor, a bit more casual on the second. The kitchen was the best-appointed airbnb kitchen we have experienced. Therese, the on-site manager, was graciousness itself and provided suggestions for local excursions--and cookies! While not close to any, we used L'Anse as a jumping-off site for day trips to Picture Rocks, Copper Harbor, and the Porcupine Mountains.

This incredibly secluded cottage has it all - wifi, antiques, full kitchen, loft space - overlooking Keweenaw Bay and the Keweenaw Peninsula, right on Lake Superior. Amazing wildlife (deer, birds, more), stunning sunsets. Watch the stars come out and listen to the loons from the porch. Enjoy the wood-fired sauna (owner will get it going for you). The owner, Phil, lives on site, and can provide suggestions for local attractions. Short drive to convenient dining, groceries, attractions.
Master bedroom is open to the main room. Bath includes shower and laundry. Loft above has an additional bed. Full kitchen. Dining table with chairs, DVD player and TV (no reception), couch, lots of windows. VERY private and secluded. Hummingbird feeders, birds, flowers in the field (in season), swing on maple tree.
Secluded (nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away), but L'Anse Village is a short drive away, with a full grocery store, great restaurants. Point Abbaye, Mount Arvon (highest point in Michigan), Canyon River Falls, Pequaming, Keweenaw Peninsula (a jewel of the Upper Peninsula) are close by. Casino in Baraga. Houghton has wonderful restaurants and a Walmart. Nearby sand beach. Lots of historic sites and museums. The Aura Jamboree is not to be missed!
  • Beautiful cabin, very clean. Exactly what the pictures showed. Beautiful view & loved listening to the waves & watching the hummingbirds. Thanks Phil!!

    Curtis2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place to stay! The pictures don't give the cabin Justice. We loved using the sauna and sitting by the lake shore at night watching the sunset. Phil, was a very gracious host, and gave us great suggestions of things to do in the area. We hope to stay here in the future again. Thank you, Phil for opening your home to us!

    Jessica2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Phil's lovely cabin exceeded my expectations. The secluded location made this a tranquil space to unwind and recharge.

    Isabel2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Are you thinking of renting Phil's cabin? Do it, if you're looking for any of the following: peace and quiet; great swimming in crystal clear Lake Superior; privacy; no neighbors; plenty of books, movies, and puzzles; clean well stocked kitchen; comfy beds; large, clean bathroom; hummingbirds!!; lots of skipping stones; wooden Adirondack chairs on the covered deck ... the perfect place to watch the sunset over the bay; falling asleep to the sound of waves.

    Nancy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Breathtaking views, secluded, extra clean! Cozy and warm with everything we needed. Phil is a wonderful host and his cabin is modern and classic. A true up north experience. 10/10

  • Quiet, peaceful, private getaway right on Lake Superior, like 100 feet away.

Beautiful year round beach house. This tiny house is located on Second Sand Beach. Guests will enjoy an all sand beach on Lake Superior. It is 8 miles from the town of L’Anse, and a 40 minute drive to Houghton. Cross country ski trails, snowmobile trails, hiking trails, and ORV trails are minutes away. Participate in the many summer and winter fishing tournaments in the area or relax and unwind on the private beach. A boat launch area is a short walk down the beach.
  • Very clean and cozy. The views are lovely. The description and photos are accurate. It served our purposes well. You’re in a very historic area and it was fun to explore♥️

    Lisa2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at the tiny house! It has everything you could need for a getaway. We had a fire on the beach, the sunrise was amazing, the fall colors were breathtaking. Had some great margaritas at Skippers (local bar in L’Anse) and took a day drive up to Copper harbor - HIGHLY recommend going to Fitzgerald’s in Eagle River - might have been the best meal I’ve ever had (probably want to make a reservation though). Their puppers were funny and entertaining. Our stay was absolutely magical. This space and location was perfect for us and I can’t wait to visit again!

    Sarah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had no idea going in, what to expect out of our week spent at the tiny house. Even with that said, it far surpassed anything we could have imagined. It was an amazing week. The weather wasn't the best, but that's Lake Superior in mid-October for you. We greatly overpacked, as the tiny house had most everything you could possibly need. The sunrises in the morning were spectacular. The waves at night with the windows open, lulled us to sleep. We had a couple great nights by our fire on the beach and watching the moon come up. Such a very special week, surrounded by the beautiful Lake. Gloria and Gary were amazing hosts. Very quick responses to any and all questions. Even though their house is right behind the tiny house, it felt totally private. We got to meet and pet their dogs, which helped us get our animal fix in for the week, as we missed ours. Gloria worked with us on a little later checkout as we didn't want to leave, we loved it so much! A word to future guests, that the pictures are accurate. It is a tiny house. Approximately 10' x 20' You will be cozy, but for a couple looking to spend some quality time it was perfect. We can't thank Gloria and Gary enough, and will come back anytime as long as they will have us.

    Dan2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, clean, and cozy. Has everything you might need for your stay.

    Lori2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Beach House was exactly what we were hoping for!!! It was quiet and secluded with a beautiful view of Lake Superior. The house is very well appointed with cooking utensils, pots and pans, wine glasses, beer glasses, water glasses- you name it. Yes, it’s a small space, but for two people who wanted to spend a cozy week together, it was just perfect, and the space is well used so everything is functional- I just adored the bathroom! Cannot say enough nice things about this place, or about Gloria and Gary, the hosts, both of whom were terrific. If you’re a dog person, ask to meet their dogs- they are fun and sweet as can be!

    Katie2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was great! It was a perfect getaway and being able to have a campfire on the beach was amazing! We plan on returning in the near future.

    Ashley2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect weekend at the Tiny House. The home has everything you could need packed into a small space. While we were near other homes, it was so quiet and peaceful. During the day we explored some trails that were close by. In the evening we came back and enjoyed dinner on the grill right by the water. We loved falling asleep each night to the sound of the waves.

  • Lynn's home is well-appointed and nestled outside of town. She was very accommodating with my schedule. Even though this is her home, I had lots of privacy.

  • Great place and beautiful views and amazing little town!!

    Lena2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place to rest your head. We were only there long enough to sleep. Bed was a little noisy but comfortable. Loved the old furniture.

    Evelyn2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were upgraded and the place we stayed was absolutely charming. It had a cottage feel and was decorated super cute!. Very clean, new shower, comfy bed!

    Lesley2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend Lynna's Lodging. Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable, clean rooms.

    Pam2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, cozy & comfortable bedding and amenities. Lynn was very welcoming and loved the balcony!

    Molly2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience.

    Bill2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were traveling through l'Anse and needed only a place to stay for the night. We got much more. Not only was the house and our room immaculate, Lynn upgraded us to the Paris room. The four poster king was comfortable and a real treat. The rest of the decoration for our room was perfect - everything we needed. And still, that was not everything. Walking into the mansion, we encountered the unexpected. The house is filled with the most amazing furniture - Asian and Western - most eclectic - pretty much a museum experience! Our only regret was that we arrived late and left early and did not have a chance to meet Lynn in person. Nonetheless, thanks Lynn for a great night and an experience we will remember for a long time.

A Fun Finnish Farm that has been here since 1895 that started with the sauna...that is still standing and working! With many renovations and upgrades the property has grown over the years to what you will see when you get here!
Authentic Finnish Sauna, Pond, Barn, Gazebo, Chicken Coop, Woodshed, and Field.
The area I live in is unique because of the wildlife, open fields, and welcoming people.
  • Edsel is a sweet and hospitable host. He stayed late in the night just to welcome me. The location gets pitch dark at night and might be scary if you drive down in the night like I did😬 so get there early. All in all it was lovely staying with him. He made some lovely Finnish breakfast in the morning :)

    Maneesha2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Edsel is a wonderful host, waking us on our first morning with a wonderful Finnish breakfast. Truly a delight to speak with. We will be back :)

    Kieran2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The location is away from all the stress. Edsel was a good host and he can make great breakfast.

    Yaswanth2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • I strongly recommend if you enjoy being in nature. The place is isolated, away from city life. In the morning the absolute silence was amazing. The host loves to do farming, so if you love being in nature, this is the place for you. Edsel was a great host.

    Bikramaditya2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to visit for a quiet time in the country with wonderful amenities; home cooked meals, farm animals and a traditional Finnish Sauna.

    Susan2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Edsel was the most hospitable and welcoming host I have seen yet!! His accommodations were warm and welcoming and we really appreciated the use of the sauna after a long day on the road. 🙂. He made us two terrific meals and even took time in the morning to give a cooking lesson of a traditional Finnish breakfast. We will definitely be back to visit again!!

    Alan2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic Finnish experience in the UP. Thoughtfully planned out. Be sure to make use of the sauna while there. And get a view of the replica Model A before taking off. 20X better than getting a hotel room at the least.

    Quinn2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a home away from home! Hospitality Plus home Comforts Plus meals including supper and a superb Finnish breakfast! So worth the effort of going a little bit off the beaten path. A good old-fashioned home fired sauna was such a treat at the end of a long ride.

  • Michael and Darlene were excellent hosts. It was my first Airbnb experience so I was kind of nervous not knowing what to expect. I immediately felt comfortable upon arriving. They were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful with tips for things to do while in town. I had plenty of privacy (entire basement to myself) and all of the essentials were provided. The bed is super comfy and I loved seeing the bay from the back door. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a UP getaway!

    Kate2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Darlene's home was wonderfully comfortable. They truly thought of everything you'd need while away from home! The bed was super cozy and they even set up two (again, super comfortable) cots for my kids to sleep on. I would highly recommend their beautiful home in L'Anse!

TIOGA FALLS CABIN The only place with soul, private access to THE true Tioga Falls! SLEEPS: 6 BEDROOMS: 2 BATHROOMS: 1 *ON THE RIVER (Tioga Falls) *WATERFALL VIEW *VERY SECLUDED - "off the grid" *CANOE/KAYAK INCLUDED *HUNTING ON PROPERTY *PETS FRIENDLY Please keep in mind that the Tioga Falls Cabin/secluded 80 acres experience is not ideal in consideration of the average city person's level of comfort. EVERYONE in your group must be avid, authentic,outdoor-loving people. This is a technology-FREE vacation. Cell phones don't work well at all. It's not for everyone, yet absolutely IDEAL for the right people. In this environment, one unhappy or non-outdoorsy person in the group has a direct, negative impact on everyone traveling together in this secluded space. *TECHNOLOGY-FREE (FREE OF TV, INTERNET, & RELIABLE CELL SERVICE) - just sit back and relax Have you every backpacked or camped in a tent, at any point in your life? Did you love the experience? Please ask this question to everyone in your group. If your answer is yes, then this is the ideal creature comfort step-up you've been looking for. As a backpacker myself, as I age, I find myself deeply appreciating the indoor plumbing and sleeping on a standard mattress that an experience such as staying in this gorgeous, custom-crafted log cabin deep, in the U.P. woods, provides. Sitting on the fully screened-in porch watching and listening to the soothing waterfalls below as you enjoy the amenities from home, feels as though you are truly in the heart of a wilderness oasis. Fish for trout to your heart's content. Canoe down the river. Melt into your vacation within the 80 wooded acres surrounding the cabin and take this opportunity to truly get away from it all. Drive the 2 mile 2-track trail from the main road into this peaceful log cabin. Ideally, it is best to bring a truck, though with good, careful driving, a regular car can make it down the 2 mile-2 track. Still, you will probably bottom-out at least once, and it is hard to avoid the tree branches close to your car. When you are at the Tioga Falls Cabin, it's so refreshing to wade in the water, hike around the property, fish and read a good book. Perfect for the family vacation if the whole family is agile, adventurous and relishing exploring nature. This cabin is perfect for up to 6 adult friends and will be remembered by all. Or it can be the romantic retreat for two (if BOTH people enjoy the outdoors.) It isn't ideal for families with young children, or multiple couples traveling together, as there is only one bedroom with a door. Families with children who love nature, and can entertain themselves without electronic devices will absolutely love it! It is wonderful to fall asleep to the gentle sound of water falls right outside of the screened in porch. Your nature-loving family will love this unique, full custom log (not a kit) home to call home for a week and beg to return again. Perfect privacy and deep relaxation await. Keep in mind that being deep in the woods requires you to be comfortable with nature. Yes, bugs do exist in the woods. Yes, when you open the door in the evening, bugs may get into the cabin. You have to be very conscious of your environment, even though this beautiful cabin has many of the amenities from home. Here you can escape from technology, though some cell phones do work, if you must turn them on. No TV or Internet-- just connecting with nature. Keep in mind that being at a place this secluded brings out everyone in the group's idiosyncrasies. In our personal experience, if even one person isn't a true, adventurous nature-lover, then that energy WILL negatively effect the whole group & your experience. Experiencing the Fall colors at Tioga Falls is incredible. Imagine being surrounded by 80 acres of unique colors. Many photography opportunities are possible. In the Fall, feel free to cozy up to the wood stove with the provided wood. Even though the refrigerator and generator use propane, the cabin is heated by the wood-burning stove, as needed. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ATV: Yes, you are welcome to bring your ATVs. There is plenty of room to park and turn around your trailer as well. Keep in mind that while there are hundreds of miles of trails, while most of the trails are not groomed. Bathroom: The bathroom is a very comfortable size with a standard toilet, vanity/sink and a shower. There is NOT a bathtub at the Tioga Falls Cabin. Please bring your own soap and shampoo. At times, we do have these supplies, yet we do not inventory them weekly. Bed Configuration: Downstairs = 1 Queen Upstairs = 2 Full 2 Twins Blow Dryer: We ask that you please limit the use of your hair blow dyer as it may drain the power enough to inhibit the well from working properly. Boats: Are boats provided? Yes, we normally have 2 canoes awaiting you on the rivers. One on the Tioga River and another on the Sturgeon River. Bugs: Yes, there are plenty of bugs in the wilderness, surrounding the waterfalls and on the 80 private acres. If doors are left open, even for short periods of time at the cabin, then bugs/flies/mosquitoes love to sneak in. We do not spray for bugs, as with the natural landscape, along comes bugs. Depending on our level of rainfall, mosquitoes can be plentiful. Bug spray is highly recommended. Hence, we love the screened in patio porch. If you are at all concerned about bugs, critters or small animals, the Tioga Falls Cabin may be too much of a challenge. It is important to us that all of our guests have a positive experience. Campfires and Fireworks: Please keep your campfires in the provided ring away from the cabin. Plus, we do not allow fireworks at the Tioga Falls Cabin. Cell phone service: Cell phone service is generally unreliable in the Upper Peninsula when you travel outside of Marquette and Escanaba. While it has improved over the years, it still varies by your provider and actually cell phone. Critters: Even though we deep clean the cabin between each stay, at various times, especially after heavy rains, mice do get into the cabin. The Tioga Falls Cabin is in the middle of 80 private acres along the water. Energy: Since the Tioga Falls Cabin is powered by solar (with a generator back-up that we try to keep the use at a minimum), we have to be sensitive to the electrical use. Therefore, there is NOT a TV or microwave. We ask that you please limit the use of your hair blow dyer as it may drain the power enough to inhibit the well from working properly. There are no power lines to look at anywhere you turn. Fall Colors: Generally, the peak time period to see the colors is between mid-September through mid-October. Fishing: There is primarily brook and brown trout in the Tioga and Sturgeon Rivers which surround the Tioga Falls Cabin. It is best to use worms, small trout flies or small spinners as bait. Heat: The wood Stove is the only source of heat at the cabin. To date, it has provided plenty of heat for our guests. Kitchen Supplies: We have many basic kitchen supplies at the cabin. If there is something that you can't live without, I strongly advise you to bring it. We do have a coffee pot, toaster, refrigerator, stove/oven. There is a cast-iron skillet, though keep in mind that the skillet is is washed differently than standard dishes. There is NOT a dishwasher. We normally have dish soap on hand for your use. Propane Refrigerator: Keep in mind that the refrigerator may be a little smaller than most of us have in the city Also, with a propane refrigerator, you don't get the blast of cold air coming out, as you do with an electric fridge most of us have at home. Stove/Oven: 4 burners, yet probably a bit smaller than most of us have a home. Land: There is not a lot of cleared or flattened land around the property. We have a small space around the fire pit. The most clear and leveled land is in the parking area, at the entrance of the cabin, where there is a dirt/gravel parking area. Linens/towels: We do provide the linens for the beds, which are fully made upon your arrival. Also, we provide basic towels. Please bring your own linens if you are particular about the thread count or are bringing a dog who sleeps with you. We provid basic bathroom and kitchen towels as well. Paper products: We do our best to make sure there is plenty of toilet paper and paper towels during your stay. Pet: 1 pet is allowed (no weight limit). Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges a one time pet fee of $50/ stay. Shopping: Where is the nearest grocery store? The nearest grocery store is about 1/2 hour north, in LÁnse. Trails: Yes, there are trails surrounding the cabin and the 80 private acres, yet they are not groomed, nor regularly maintained. It is a rugged adventure. The walking trail to the Sturgeon River is not straightforward, nor does it have a perfect walkway. You do need to have decent mobility skills to maneuver around the 80 acres comfortably. 2 mile Two-Track Entry: Depending on the weather, the 2-track can get quite rough. The 2 mile two-track is never predictable. You'd have to be prepared for a possible adventure. It's not your average cottage experience. You may have to travel the 2 miles at a snails pace, getting out to move a branch of a tree if needed. We have care-takers who drive in and out of the cabin on a regular basis in a regular car, yet we have also seen a storm come through before guests arrive and there are limbs that had to be moved as they drive in. We try our best to keep the road as functional as possible. The road has only been actually impossible in the winter. We are maintaining the road on a regular basis, yet in 2 miles of wilderness, sometimes it's a breeze to get in and sometimes it's a challenge. Waterfalls: The falls are right outside the screened in porch. Still, the terrain isn't simple for a child or a non-agile adult to navigate. Still, if you are truly adventurous, you will love it! I can attest to the fact that it is tons of fun, and the beating of the falls on your back is a fantastic "natural spa" experience. Water shoes are essential. Wood Stove: Yes, there is a wood stove at the cabin. It is the only source of heat at the cabin. Guests have always talked about how toasty they feel with the wood burning stove. Plus, we provide the wood!
Very private- no cottages within easy view

  • We loved everthing about this place! The cabin was clean and charming. The hiking paths were very beautiful. We found using DoTerra essential oils kept the bugs at bay. Still need to check yourself and pets for ticks. Found 2 on my husband's back after a hike.

  • We always love staying at LaRose for the outstanding view of Lake Superior (a photographer's dream), the amenities and cozy atmosphere. This is a stay you don't want to miss!

  • Cheryl's place is just what my wife and I needed. She has a beautiful view of the Bay. Our room was large with our own private bathroom. Sunrise on the Bay while eating breakfast and sipping coffee couldn't be beat! We took the time to enjoy the sauna and the whirlpool. It is a short drive to town for dinner. We enjoyed watching the morning time deer eating away at the apple tree. This is my second trip to Baraga. There is no way I'm staying anywhere else again when I'm in town. Plenty of thoughtful touches in the house. A toasty fire greeted us. I would highly recommend this when in the Baraga area. Cheryl is a gracious host.

  • After our awesome but long wedding day, my husband and I needed somewhere comfortable to try to find sleep afterwards. I had booked Cheryl’s place probably 6 weeks before and even at that point, I was so surprised to find a room available! She is usually booked very well and I can see why: the location is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and spotless, and her hospitality is warm and beyond inviting. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely be back in the future!

  • Opposite the room is Lake Superior, the scenery is very good. The bathroom in the room is very big and clean. At the invitation of the host, I tasted the local specialties she made. Across the room is lake superior with a good view. The bathroom in the room is big and clean. Invited by the host, she tasted the local cuisine.

Our cabin is located directly on beautiful Lake Superior. It is fairly secluded and extremely peaceful. The cabin is full of local photos taken of the Northern Lights. We have water toys for the kids to enjoy as they swim, and there are 2 kayaks available to use with advanced notice. We are close to hiking, fishing, boating, waterfalls, and other outdoor adventures.
Our "neighborhood" is full of trees, berry bushes, and freshest lake water I've ever swam in.

Beach house right on sandy Lake Superior
Great beach house on all sand beach. Have a romantic weekend get away or a family beach party. Rain or shine the views are breathtaking and the gigantic 3 season porch allows for entertaining or a nice quiet morning coffee and watch the sunrise. No matter the season, it’s always a beautiful view against the lake.
  • Great place to stay and less than 2 hours from Mount Bohemia!

    Tye2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, spacious, quiet house on the greatest of lakes. There is one close neighbor next door, but we didn’t hear a noise from them during our stay. I would definitely re-book.

    Matt2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. The photos don’t do it justice. It was very clean, cozy and the location and view was incredible! It was difficult to leave the house to go on day trips, we enjoyed the location so much. We walked on the beach most everyday. While the weather was not good for sitting out on the deck, we enjoyed sitting inside and looking out at the “wall of glass”! I highly recommend this place. I know we will be back!

  • Ron's cabin was the perfect getaway! The quiet, calm beach was perfect for swimming and the cabin met our needs. Would recommend!

    Callie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ron has a beautiful little cottage on a sandy beach near L'Anse. I traveled there with my wife and 2 year old. He was an attentive host and checkin was easy. The interior is comfortable with outstanding views of the lake. On clear nights, the north facing view afforded an unmatched view of the stars, and to our surprise, the northern lights. Ron's place is not quite finished. It still requires flooring in the bedroom, bedroom door, window treatments, dishwasher hookup, and proper stairs to get in and out. The stairs would be an important fix, but the other things were not big issues for us. These might be problematic if you are planning a trip that requires privacy. We met some of his extended family next door and they were totally friendly. That was definitely an added bonus. Hope to come back soon. It is a great staging point for exploring the UP.

    James2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The beach house a perfect place to relax and slow down life. We took our young family of 5 here and had an amazing time for just relaxing on the beach, hikes in the woods, star gazing, and bonfires.

  • Cheryl's place was clean and exactly as described. She was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay.

    Shane2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing place to find in an out-of-the way spot like Baraga, MI! The 6 bedroom house had wonderful comfy beds as advertised and private rooms. Four rooms share the one upstairs bath while the spacious master bedroom has it's own bathroom. The large modern living room overlooks an amazing view of the bay and Lake Superior. Outstanding landscaping and the fall colors were gorgeous!! The large kitchen had room to make whatever you needed and had ample fridge room with a range to cook your food. The sunroom overlooking the gorgeous view was a real hit for us...Very warm and cozy . The eating area/dining room was a ways from the kitchen but had a coffee maker and the other breakfast essentials like a toaster, glass plates, etc. The hot tub was huge and worked well. There was an additional bathroom and shower located near the hot tub. The sauna was a little difficult to run though we did find directions on the fridge with more details. Note: There are stairs which are fairly steep so if climbing is an issue , there is one bedroom downstairs to accomodate with another bathroom close by. If you desire privacy, the one bathroom upstairs is a little cozy for the 4 rooms to share so you may want to consider the master bedroom. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone going to this area!!

    David2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • It is definitely a HUGE and beautiful place with wonderful amenities like sauna room and indoor/outdoor pools. They have two bonfire places on the property and also a kid's play area. You would definitely enjoy it with your family and friends, absolutely worth the money!

    Hong2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is really a value find. We had a group of 9 and we all really enjoyed the space. The place was clean, and decorated for fall/halloween. The view from the backyard is phenomenal. There were plenty of bathrooms for the number of bedrooms. I highly recommend this place for a big group.

    Yingchao2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • A group of 8 of us stayed at Cheryl’s for two days and we all wish we would have stayed longer. This was my 4th visit to Cheryl’s but the first time I rented the entire house. It was very nice because everyone had to space to cook, swim, sauna, hot tub, read, relax, watch Netflix, etc without being on top of each other. The grounds are lovely with spectacular views. The only problem with staying here is that you never want to leave!

  • We met my sister's family at Keith's farm house in Baraga over New Years. There was plenty of room for all eight of us. The dining room table was our favorite gathering place for meals and games. The home was cozy, property was beautiful and we enjoyed long walks, stargazing, gathering eggs and views to the pond. While in town we rented snowmobiles in Houghton for a day excursion, went skiing in Marquette, bowled at the Whir-L-Gig in L'Anse. All easy and fun outings from Baraga.

  • We had an amazing stay at The Farmhouse! It was very spacious. The location is private and the grounds are amazing. There is a hen house on the property and we collected eggs at the invitation of the host for our breakfast. We had a great bonfire on our last night at the fire ring down by the pond. We tooks walks and explored the property, including seeing deer and enjoying the fall colors. Would definitely stay here again.

  • This is an amazing accommodation for a large family. We had a family of 14 and an infant. Each bedroom is a museum of its own with beautiful antique furniture, books, decor. Kitchen and dining room held all of us. The land was perfect with large yard and so far from the road — no worry with little kids.

    Kristine2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The farmhouse experience was delightful! The farmhouse was roomy for all 12 of us with comfortable beds, luxurious bedding and towels, comfy furniture, plenty room for all of us to eat and TV (which wasn’t really needed!). We loved the screened in porch looking out to the woods and pond. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we could possibly need during our stay. The kids loved exploring the outdoors with the chickens, rowing and fishing on the pond, s’mores at the fire pit and just listening to the quiet serenity as the sun set at night. Keith was a wonderful host who was immediately available for anything we needed. Many special touches throughout the farmhouse such as candy for the kids, soaps, coffee and tea, firewood available for purchase, and beautiful antiques to enjoy and admire. A very lovely experience for all of us!

  • This place is Ah-mazing! Everything about it! My husband and I were on our honey moon and happened to be the only ones staying at the retreat center that evening. Cheryl waited for us to come in around 10pm, there was a sign waiting at the front door with our names on it welcoming us! <3 Cheryl told us we had the whole place to ourselves and she let us pick which room we wanted to stay in even though we had selected a less expensive one. She gave us helpful tips on where we could go for a late dinner that evening. Ok so...the views are incredible! Lake Superior IS the backyard of this place. The waves crashing against the rocks are something to behold. The whole place is cute, cozy, stylish - better than the pictures depict. STAY HERE BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME AND WORTH IT. Hot tub with the windows open listening to the waves crash is epic. The bed was very comfortable, the food was great. It was quite a spread of food actually! I am gluten free and cheryl accommodated me. So sweet! I can’t say enough how great this place is and how sweet the hosts are. Thank you so much for having us!!! We’ll be back some day!

  • This was an EXCELLENT place to stay! I highly recommend it! I am on a road trip with my baby son by myself, and Cheryl was so accommodating. Everything in the house is so thoughtful. An oil diffuser with lavender oil in the room, plenty of pillows, very soft sheets, awesome views, big rooms, private bathrooms, towels, a hot tub and towels and filtered water and fun cups and palm trees!, a huge sauna, and awesome view of the lake, kayaks, a swing by the water, a hammock, a tv with pandora, Netflix, Hulu, etc., big comfy couches, a fireplace, a massage room...it seriously is the best. Cheryl is so nice and made me feel so welcome and comfortable. I had the whole place to myself and she still made me breakfast of egg and cheese omelet, sausage, French toast, yogurt, fresh strawberries and cantaloupe, juice, etc. I even got to paint a rock to take home with me! Thanks so much for everything Cheryl.

  • Cheryl is so nice, and I really recommend this place. Because of the flight time and the weather, we arrived really late, like 3 a.m. We were really sorry about it, but Cheryl was still really friendly, and made us feel good. The house is really good. Very beautiful. Strongly recommend.

  • Stunning sunrises and a gracious hostess! The Neimi room was perfect for me as a jumping off point for ski trip to the Keewenaw. Even stayed an extra day and booked a massage. I'm already planning my next visit and maybe even a yoga retreat 🙏

  • OMG, best scenic view ever, sound of the waves and waking up to the sunrise in our room. 5 stars all around, bonus amenities and full breakfast. Highly recommend the Native American foot massage. Definitely coming back next year.

  • La Rose is spacious, and the view of Lake Superior is beautiful! Sauna, large indoor hot tub and pool are great for hanging out and relaxing! Stayed here in winter too and with snow shoe trail on property, snow mobile trails nearby, and downhill skiing a convenient drive away, it’s the perfect winter getaway! Oh, and there is cross country skiing nearby as well.
