Places to stay in Loch Lomond
Our lovely and cosy lodge is located in one of the most beautiful locations in Loch Lomond. Amazing views and scenic walks. Only 45 minutes from Glasgow city center and 35 minutes from Glasgow International Airport. Wifi connection available!! PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED WITHIN THIS LODGE.
I believe what makes our space so special is the view and the location, right on the banks of Loch Lomond. And if you're looking for the perfect place to eat we are right across from the famous Oak Tree Inn which has very friendly staff and amazing food. Not to mention the beautiful walks and hikes. We are located right at the bottom of Conic Hill (my favorite walk) and a 5 to 10 minute drive from Ben Lomond. If you're looking for a place to relax or for a place to explore then Balmaha is the ideal location. It's quiet and tranquil setting gives you that away from it all feeling. Access to a shared jacuzzi hot tub with Lodge 2. We do accommodate couples with children! We are currently building other lodges adjacent to the existing lodge. We avoid doing works when we have guests as we want them to enjoy the tranquility and peace that this place offers.
Balmaha is a small village with lovely people. We've been living here for the past five years and we absolutely adore the small village feeling but also the fact that we are only 35 minutes from Glasgow city center.
  • A nicely designed comfortable apartment in a well run complex of camping pods and apartments. I was a bit worried about being over the top of the apartments below but the floors seem to be concrete and we never heard a thing even at weekends when it was really busy. Fernanda is very quick to respond to any problems and the whole place is very clean, plus the bed is super comfortable and the view from the balcony is fabulous. Don't miss walking up Conic Hill for a truly spectacular view or even better the seaplane trip from Cameron House Hotel for an extra special treat.!

Come and stay in our bothy on the grounds of the Kings Tree by which Robert The Bruce entertained his troops with tales of valour and a singalong whilst awaiting the safe crossing of his men over Loch Lomond. The bothy sits next to our family home and sits within a truly stunning setting in an iconic location on the western shores of Loch Lomond. The bothy takes in fantastic views across the loch over to Ben Lomond. Guests will be met on arrival and departure.
The origins of the cottage were settled amidst the great Scottish Rebellion of 1745, the year of General George Wade, the English Commander-in-chief, was ordered by the King to deal with the rebellious Scottish Highlanders. Wade built a series of forts, bridges and roads to enable troops to patrol the region. The remains of one of the roads can still be seen within the grounds today.
We are close to the picturesque villages of Tarbet and Arrochar and with the seaside town of Helensburgh approximately 13 miles away providing a wide selection of amenities. Balloch is nearby, within about 14 miles drive and just along the western shore of Loch Lomond is the iconic Loch Lomond Golf Club, the renowned Cameron House Hotel and the Carrick Golf Resort and Spa. The area is synonymous for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits with great walks and hill climbs, stunning scenery and fantastic wildlife.
  • Cosy and warm bothy with a nice hot shower, great for a stopover on our travels. Good communication from Christine too.

    Roger2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy retreat in a stunning location. The large outside decking area next to the babbling stream was an unexpected bonus and very relaxing. Christine was very helpful with directions and her son Josh greeted me and showed me around on arrival, offering advice on where to go for food. The bothy is spacious and well-equipped. Shower room was toasty when the weather was cold outside and the bed was so comfortable! There’s a microwave, fridge, plates, glasses and cutlery, or a range of dining options within short driving distance. I can recommend the Tarbet Tearoom for a good value, filling cooked breakfast! Thanks Christine and Josh for a lovely stay.

    Amanda2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy bothy in a lovely spot of land, such a shame we weren’t lucky with the weather and couldn’t spend much time outside. Clean and tidy, good selection of DVDs - bring a book and some board games if you’re staying, as there’s no WiFi (we knew that when we booked :) ) Great place to escape from the busy city.

    Christina2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks very much for having us! Lovely peaceful wee getaway, perfect for some walking by Loch Lomond.

  • Such a pretty little place too nice for just a stop over. Wonderful position near to the lake

    Gill2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A very nicely done room at the back of the garden. Christine was quick with replies and check in was very easy. We didn't have a car, and it's about 2.5miles either side to anything so would recommend stocking up on food. It was warm and the shower was lovely.

In the heart of Loch Lomond National Park, nestled below the Conic Hills with Ben Lomond in the background and the loch literally on the doorstep, this is ideal all year round holiday location for outdoor enthisiast.
  • We had such a wonderful time staying at the Boathouse. It is on a beautiful setting right on the water and so lovely and cosy inside. It was perfect location for us to travel round Loch Lomand and see the sights. We would definitely return. Thank you

  • Great location nice and warm and clean with lovely views

    Jean2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. What an incredible wee boat house in an incredible location. Normally we travel 4-5 hours north to find something so idyllic and secluded. You’d be a fool to try and find anything to complain about, the home had everything we needed for a comfortable, clean, cosy stay and you have Loch Lomond on your doorstep! Tremendous. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the second we arrived until we begrudgingly had to leave. The grounds around the house are much bigger than you would expect, you could happily spend your entire time not leaving the property. We are keen to return for a much longer stay.

    Marcus2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing venue but hard to find in the dark. My tip is arrive in daylight

    Paul2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dog owners dream. The boat house is really cozy and has everything you need. The best bit for us was the really large garden/land it sits on which is completely fenced in. It has direct access to the loch so perfect for one of our dogs who loves to swim. There are paths in both directions to walk. The walk on the left takes you to a little pub and shop. The location is really peaceful and we would definitely return. Our only downsides were: communication with the host was very slow. Our first message wasn’t replied to, then it says on the listing that the code to check in and directions would be sent the day before. They weren’t and we were staring to get worried as we had heard nothing. I messaged and we did receive them later in the day. We also needed to get in touch as we left something behind- it took a week to respond and our last message hasn’t been replied to. Apart from that we had no issues and would recommend.

  • A fairytale cottage

  • Great place to stay - the boathouse was perfect for the two of us to stay for a few days. Beautiful location and plenty to explore nearby. The house is well equipped with everything we needed for cooking, we did a big food shop on our drive up. We had a wonderful few days here, and would love to come again.

'The hoot' lodge 29, is a spacious log cabin on the rugged eastern banks of Loch Lomond. Well positioned in the Rowardennan private lodge estate, there are beautiful views from the lodge across Loch Lomond and of the surrounding mountains. Rowardennan is at the mid point of Loch Lomond and is nestled at the foot of Ben Lomond. Twenty four miles long, Loch Lomond and it's islands are one of Scotland's must see attractions; stunningly beautiful all year round.
The lodge has four bedrooms: master en suite, double, twin and bunk room. There is a spacious open plan kitchen / dining / living room with patio doors that open to the large gated decking area with spectacular views looking out over Loch Lomond.  Just in front of the lodge is a jetty and an attractive shallow sandy beach which the kids all love.  The beach has a really gradual slope so is ideal for paddling.  For more info look at www.thehootlodge.co.uk
Set in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossach's National Park in Scotland this is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Within only an hour of Glasgow city centre you might think that you were in another world. The rural setting of Rowardennan is at the end of the road completely free of traffic noise and approximately 15 minutes drive from Balmaha and 25 minutes from Drymen. The Rowardennan Hotel is a very short walk from the lodge, offering great hospitality in the Clannsman bar.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend break in a lovely, well equipped and spotlessly clean lodge which had the most amazing views over the Loch and beyond! The location is amazing with some great local pubs and restaurants and the people are friendly and helpful which is always a bonus! The Clansman bar is walking distance from the lodge and is very cosy and welcoming. We ate a couple of times at The Clachan Inn in Drymen as the food was great tasting and super value! We highly recommend a visit and look forward to visiting again soon!!

  • A great place for a break on the bonnie banks. Wonderful waterside location, ideally placed for climbing Ben Lomond, tackling some of the West Highland Way or for water-based activities. Clean, comfortable and cosy - what more could you want?

  • We had a lovely stay at the cabin with the most amazing views to wake up to of the lake. Fi has thought of everything in terms of cooking untensils, games, DVD's etc. The space is beautiful and we enjoyed feeding the birds on the veranda and going for hikes. We arrived early so Fi kindly let us check in at that time with no extra cost. Thanks for the beautiful stay, we hope to return!

It is a beautiful rural location, surrounded by forests and mountains, but also has a wide range of shops, services, and visitor attractions available within a short drive. Lochside Cottage is situated right in the heart of the outstanding natural beauty of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, near to many different lochs and woodland walks. It is very quiet and peaceful, and is an ideal waterside retreat. What's included at Lochside Cottage? Electric and full gas central heating is all included. Bed linen and towels are all included 1 bag of logs and kindling is included. Free parking for 2 cars, with additional free parking round the corner at the cafe. On the first floor, there is a double bedroom with double bed and views across the loch, and a further large twin-bedded room. There is also an upstairs bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower. There is full central heating throughout the house. Lochside Cottage is situated within a 13 mile long private road (gated), winding round the loch, which is a lovely route to cycle or hike. In addition to being quiet and secluded, the cottage is also within a short walking distance of a lovely waterfront café, the Pier Café (licenced), open for breakfast onwards, and which also serves lunch, afternoon tea and, in peak season, serves evening meals and becomes the small local pub 4 nights a week. A range of supermarkets deliver directly to the cottage, including Waitrose and Asda, and some guests find it useful to pre-arrange a delivery for the first day you arrive. There is a reasonable Wi-Fi signal at the Cottage, which is normally suitable for using the internet, and reading/sending emails etc. Some people find the signal better downstairs, depending on your provider. There is a payphone inside the house, as the mobile phone signal can be unreliable/absent. You will need change (coins) to use this phone, but it does accept external calls so other people can also call you. It is generally not possible to send texts, due to the lack of mobile phone reception. Travel Directions Post code for SAT NAV is FK8 3TY. Directions: From the south, take either the M80 or M9 for Stirling and, whilst on the M9, exit at junction 10 at Stirling onto the A84. After some eight miles, fork left onto the A873 Thornhill, Port of Menteith and Aberfoyle Road. Four miles after Thornhill merge left onto the A81 to Aberfoyle. Proceed through the village of Aberfoyle and continue straight ahead as signposted for the B829 for Kinlochard and Inversnaid. Just over four miles thereafter, with Loch Ard on your left, you will come into Kinlochard. Continue straight ahead from the Wee Blether Tearoom, driving to the end of the road with the T junction, with signpost left to Inversnaid and right to Stronachlachar. Take the right and follow the road down to Loch Katrine and, on your approach to The Pier Café car park, look left to the electronic barrier, indicating the private road. On passing through this barrier, (code supplied after booking) follow the road round to the right and up towards Lochside House. Park on the gravel area directly next to Lochside Cottage. The road from Aberfoyle is at times a single track tarmac road, which requires care and attention in places, and it is recommended that guests who have had a long drive take a short rest break before continuing the last part of the journey from Aberfoyle.
What's nearby? Lochside Cottage is less than 500 metres from the pier where you can take the steam ship, SS Sir Walter Scott steamer daily down to the other end of the loch and back. This steamer runs throughout the year, though there is a reduced service in the winter. Cycles can be hired at that end of the loch, and many people like to take the steamship one way, and cycle back the other way. The adventurous may like to cycle the whole 13 mile route around the loch. The cottage is within a short drive of wonderful waterfalls and 3 course meals at the hotel at Inversnaid, (4 miles away) where you can park for free, and can pick up the start of some major hiking trails such as the RSPB nature trail which follows the West Highland Way. Inversnaid is a great place for a long or short walks, with a lovely meal afterwards in the hotel with wonderful views. You can also take a different boat here, on a different loch for more sightseeing. Nearby to Aberfoyle, (13 miles away) there is a large visitor centre in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park with a café with far-reaching views. This is a great place to start a wide range of walks, from very short accessible trails, to long, challenging walks. There is also a very pleasant scenic drive off the Dukes Pass just outside of Aberfoyle. There is a Co-op food shop in Aberfoyle which is open to 10 pm, with a cashpoint. There is also a lovely delicatessen in Aberfoyle. Within 15 miles, the Kinlochard and Aberfoyle area offer excellent leisure facilities, including a sailing club and nearby MacDonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa. There are opportunities to visit golf courses, enjoy watersports, hire kayaks and canoes, go pony trekking and enjoy a wide range of walks, hikes and cycle routes. There are many mountains and large hills nearby. Lochside Cottage is within easy driving distance of Loch Lomond, which offers further lochside cruises, an extensive tourist shopping park, a spa hotel, an aquarium, championship golf courses, and further sightseeing opportunities. We recommend the bakers called "Mhor Bread" in Callander, (22 miles away, lovely route passing 5 different lochs) who offer an outstanding range of pastries and pies. A flat, highly accessible riverside walk is available at Callander, which also has a wide range of interesting little shops and an art gallery. Slightly further away, the main city of Stirling offers a wide range of city shops and eateries. The famous cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow are also accessible by car and offer a very wide range of shops and city experiences.
  • A place set back (12 miles from the last shops in Aberfoyle) but nevertheless unique, which we highly recommend to all lovers of peace, nature and the beauty of the landscapes. We were able to communicate with Gail & Tom regularly and with great responsiveness through the Air BNB website. Access to the site was therefore done without difficulty, regardless of our late arrival in the evening. All the amenities were in place to receive our group of 8 in the best conditions. We highly recommend this cottage.

  • Great views over loch Katrine, a massive log burning stove to sit in front of at nighttime, a great place to spend time with family and friends

    Billy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely holiday home! The views are incredible and it's very homely. Myself and family felt extremely comfortable and relaxed here and loved watching the birds from the big windows. The cottage has everything you can think of so no need to bring lots of things with you. The pier cafe near the cottage is great and food is amazing. We visited the town balloch and spent the day there as theres lots to do for all the family. A great week had by all!

    Kirsty2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay, in an incredible location. We (two couples and a dog) had a great time staying here. I can only repeat what others have said: - the location really is fantastic with beautiful views - having the bird feeders right outside the window really is marvellous - the shortbread really is excellent - it really is spotless and comfortable To be in such a location inevitably takes a bit of a journey, but it really is worth it.

    James2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay - the house was perfect for a family celebration. We especially liked the view, the bird feeder, the games and the log burner. The house was cosy throughout for a winter weekend and very peaceful.

    Jane2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect home in a perfect setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely love to return. We visited several Lochs in the area. Explored near Go Ape and climbed to the top. Tried to find Rob Roy’s cave but failed (maybe next time). We also had a dusting of snow which added to the magic of our trip.

    Sharon2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • "Wow, this place is so beautiful" was uttered upon arrival and for two days. Gail is a gracious host, couldnt ask for more. We cant wait to return! Loved The Peir Cafe as well

Great getaway cabin on the Banks of Loch Lomond, fantastic views of the loch and surrounding mountains. A great base for enjoying the many water sports available on the loch, hill walking or simply a relaxing break. Continental breakfast included.
The cabin is self contained with an en suite shower room, TV and free WiFi. A substantial continental breakfast is provided within the cabin. There is a covered balcony area and garden. Our biggest asset without doubt is the unrestricted stunning views of Loch Lomond and surrounding mountains. We are in the village and within a five minute walk of all local amenities. If you are attending a wedding in the village we are located 50 metres from the church and a five minute walk to both local hotels.
Luss is an extremely picturesque village in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National (URL HIDDEN) is in a conservation area with many ancient buildings, the local church being of particular interest with hump back Viking grave stones. You can also enjoy many beautiful walks in the surrounding area.
  • Excellent night away, would definitely return

    Taylor2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great if you just want to stay in Luss for a few days! It’s right across from a cute little coffee shop and down the street from a couple of places to eat. She refreshed the place every day and gave a nice continental breakfast. The host was so responsive and easy to chat to and you wake up to the best view! Only thing is it does get windy so bring ear plugs so you don’t hear the doors blowing. Great stay and super pleased!

  • Such an amazing place to stay, the scenery from the cabin is outstanding, & it's literally only a 2 minute walk onto the pier for the loch for even better perspective. Alyson is an extremely friendly & helpful host, would highly reccomend to anyone who clicks on this place!

    Adam2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Alyson's place was incredible. It was a special stop for me because of my family history and we could not have picked a more perfect place. We love Luss. Alyson welcomed us and was so hospitable. There were so many thoughtful touches in the quaint cabin. Super clean and adorable! There aren't words to describe how wonderful our stay was so please see for yourself!

    Kelsey2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place to stay, wonderful views and definitely a wee hidden gem! The spread Alyson put on for breakfast was of excellent quality and all amenities were at hand. Exceptional value for money and a very clean and well kept place. Alyson was also a lovely host who was always on hand. I will recommend this place to anyone travelling in this region!

    Peter2020-03-02T00:00:00Z

  • Pictures cannot do justice to how beautiful this cabin and it's views are. It is truly breathtaking. Alyson was such a wonderful host, really easy to communicate with and so friendly and helpful. The breakfast she provides is more than enough for two and full of so many thoughtful touches. It was snowing while we were here but the cabin was so warm. Pub and cafe within walking distance and lots to explore within a short drive. Thank you Alyson for one of our favourite holidays!

  • Eddie's place was really great, he came to welcome us when we'd got settled to check we were okay. We came to this place to chill out and have a few trips round the loch and I would highly recommend it if you want to do the same. 5 mins from the local town which has lots of places to see, drink and eat. The place was really clean and felt safe. The amenities were superb for spending a couple of days in and unwinding. The views are also very comforting. We enjoyed a good walk by the castle which again was only a 5 min drive & a walk by Luss again not far away. All in all, a really good trip with a great place to stay. Thanks Eddie

  • A beautifully appointed and laid out place to get away from it all! You feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere but you’re only 5 minutes from the local supermarket! It was the perfect place to ‘bunker down and relax’ over New Year. Eddie and Avril’s Air B&Bs are the ideal base to explore Loch Lomond, The Trossachs and all the attractions in the nearby areas, north, south, east or west!

Situated in a quiet corner of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, half an hour’s drive from Glasgow Airport, Tamnavoulin has 2 comfortable ensuite guest rooms with great views. Loch Lomond is 8 minutes' drive away, as is is the pleasant seaside town of Helensburgh with a good selection of restaurants. We have rebuilt this 200 year old house and look forward to welcoming you, providing a tasty Scottish breakfast and advice on hiking and sightseeing in the Highlands if you need it.
This is a unique location with a remote feel and yet close to nearby amenities. We live off-grid and are proving that you can generate most of your electricity and hot water from renewables - even in the cloudy West of Scotland!
This is somewhere for people who want a quiet, rural, scenic location - 8 minutes away from the A82, the main highway up the West Coast. There's a good selection of restaurants and shops in Helensburgh, also 8 minutes away by car.
  • Fantastic stay with wonderful hosts :) breakfast was lovely and the room had a stunning view. Will be staying again. Thank you!!

  • I would highly recommend this BnB. The location is great for activities on Loch Lomond, and the views from the rooms are truly impressive. This is a perfect place to get away from the crowds and relax in the evening, and the bed is super comfy and the breakfast delicious! Wish we had more than one night here.

    Rebecca2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Niall has a beautiful home! It is in the most beautifyl countryside setting and a very short drive to downtown area with shops and restaurants. Make sure to get driving directions beforehand. We did not and got lost. He makes it very easy to get to though. The room was gorgeous and had an amazing view. The bathroom was nicer than most hotels I've stayed in. To top it off Josie made the most delicious breakfast for us before we jetted out the door. Can't wait to go back. Probably the best AirBnb out there.

    Laura2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were lucky enough to stay four nights at Tamnavoulin, and could not speak highly enough of Niall and Josie’s beautiful home and fantastic hospitality. We have stayed in so many AirBnBs over the years and although always generally happy, it is rare to find such a special place. We loved our room, simply but beautifully decorated with a lot of taste, incredible views over the hills around (we could have sat in those armchairs for hours just looking out of the windows!) and super comfortable bed. Niall and Josie gave us invaluable tips for things to do, hikes around and places to eat. They clearly love their region and country, and we very much enjoyed chatting to them over Josie’s delicious freshly cooked breakfast every morning. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel at home and we are very grateful for it! Incredible hosts and people, we cannot recommend highly enough staying at Tamnavoulin. Thank you so much for making our holiday so very special. We already look forward to seeing you again soon!!!

    Valentine2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Josie and Niall are wonderful hosts. There is a great breakfast selection. The accommodation is sparkling clean and very tastefully decorated. All in all more than recommended! Thank you for everything!

    Anja2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • If we could, we would rate our stay with six stars instead 5. The hospitality, the house, recommendations - everything was more then perfect. Thanks again!

    Franziska2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home, in a beautiful location. We were given a warm welcome and had an amazing room with a breathtaking view. I would highly recommend a stay here.

    Kerry2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely recommended! The place itself is a bit remote, so it takes a while to get there, but in reward it is incredibly quiet and so beautiful. The place is spotless and very nicely decorated. We were greated by both Niall and his daughter and they were immediately prepared to help us with everything. Moreover, the breakfast was delicious and we had a lovely stay!

  • Lovely cosy cottage, perfect location for Loch Lomond and surrounds, friendly helpful hosts.

    Jamie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Michael and Nolwenn's cosy cabin. As a non-driver it was wonderful to find a peaceful place to stay within easy reach of beautiful scenery yet right next to the train station and close to local amenities. Michael kindly met us from the station and helped us with our bags but it was so close - just across the road! We walked to the loch and went to the Sea Life and Birds of Prey centres. It was February so the weather wasn't great and sadly we couldn't make use of the pretty deck and gardens, but the cabin was toasty warm and there were plenty of board games, books and DVDs to keep us entertained. In fact, this is the best-equipped self-catering accommodation I've ever stayed in. Michael and Nolwenn have thought of everything, especially in the kitchen: as well as all the cutlery, crockery and utensils you'd need to cook, they provide tea, coffee, oil, sauces, salt, pepper, herbs and spices, even foil to wrap sandwiches in for picnics. These are the little things you often end up wastefully buying and leaving behind when you are self-catering and travelling by public transport. The accommodation was immaculately clean and tidy, the bed comfy, communication clear and efficient. An exemplary Airbnb experience!

    Emily2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn were lovely hosts! The place is every bit as cosy as it looks, located very close to Loch Lomond (the cottage has direct access to a riverside path that leads you to the Loch!) and Michael and Nolwenn gave us lots of useful information which we took advantage of during our stay! Would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Loch Lomond area.

  • Fabulous accommodation, fabulous hosts, would definitely return

    Jen2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn are extremely kind hosts, full of useful tips of the area. The cottage is conveniently just a few minutes walk from the train depot, with plenty of privacy and a view of the river. Great place to spend a few nights away.

    David2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This magical oasis hidden on the River Leven banks of Balloch, is not to be missed. Within the first few moments into the cabin you already feel right at home, with a cosy aesthetic and some of the comfiest sheets we had ever slept in. The surrounding garden is genuinely the most magical area you will ever find yourself. Your inner child will be filled with wonder and adventure as you meander your way around its twists and turns. Waking up to a cuppa on the balcony is the ideal way to start your day and as you watch the sun peak through the trees you’ll realise that you never want to leave. Fisherwood Cottage is absolutely stunning and we can guarantee that it’s the best way to see Balloch.

    Tom2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a cosy, well equipped little cottage! We had a lovely time here. Michael and Nolwenn have put a lot of work into making sure that guests are comfortable, including a really detailed and easy to read handbook about the cottage and the local area.

  • Michael and Nolwenn’s place is very comfortable and cozy and perfect for a romantic getaway! They have loads of helpful guides and tips on what to do whilst you are there. Waterside Cottage is the former stables block for Stronachlachar House located on the bank of Loch Katrine in the heart of the Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The cottage has recently been renovated to provide a relaxing and comfortable environment in which to enjoy the National Park and the surrounding area. Waterside Cottage sleeps 6 comfortably. Pets are welcome with the Owner permission . It's just a 2 minute walk to the Pier Bistro so good food is always on hand.
The cottage is located in the very heart of the Trossachs. As a result the cottage has a fantastic backdrop. The cottage has a fully fitted kitchen with a washing machine and dishwasher. The living room has a TV with Sky TV. The area is remote and not all mobile networks have good coverage in the area. Wifi is made available for the duration of your stay, but please note it is only suitable for web browsing and emails due to the remote location due to the cottage. There is a master bedroom with a double bed and en-suite, along with two twin rooms. If you like hillwalking you're in luck. Just walk in a straight line away from the Loch and you will be going upwards within 5 minutes. There are cycle routes all around the area with varying degrees of difficulty so there is something for everyone. A short drive from the Cottage you have a range of outdoor activities ranging from golf to watersports to tree top adventures. If you don't want to do any of that your well within your rights to stay at the Cottage and read a book by the log fire. Safe to say there is something for everyone when you stay at our Cottage.
The area is very quiet and being situated on a private road there is next to no passing through traffic. It's the perfect get away from a busy city. The best way to experience Scotland's beautiful and impressive countryside.
  • Can’t thank Carole enough, the cottage is in an amazing location and so clean and beautifully decorated. Everything that could be needed on hand - slept like a log in the most comfortable bed. Beautiful area and part of Scotland to explore. Can’t recommend enough, will 100% be back

  • A wonderful cottage in the most majestic location. We loved continually catching glimpses of the views through the windows and sitting out on the balcony. Lovely place overall, clean and good amenities with a host who communicates well. Would definitely go again!

  • Fantastic house , has pretty much everything you need , although incredibly remote . Great if you want to get away from things for a weekend , although if staying for a week I imagine you would want to go out and about and it is a long drive to anywhere . Lovely set up of house , comfortable for 6 people . Would definitely stay again , the views are spectacular!

  • Great airbnb in a great location. We had a fantastic week in Stronachlachar.

    Anton2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Waterside Cottage is simply stunning, expect beautiful views from every window. The location is right on Loch Katrine, the perfect place to base yourself when exploring the local area. The cottage is sparkling clean with all the amenities you need for a hassle free stay, we had a toddler staying with us and there was a travel cot and high chair for us to use. The cottage if just around the corner from the Pier Cafe which serves delicious local food most days even in low season. While we were there we hired bikes and cycled around Loch Ard, climbed the Lime Craig trail, canoed around Loch Ard, visited Rob Roy's viewpoint and enjoyed food and drink in Aberfoyle. To get to the cottage is a very long, winding, single track road with very little phone signal so take it easy on the drive to and from the cottage! Thank you Carole for a wonderful stay! There

    Lucy2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Carole went above and beyond to assist us when we had a few personal challenges. The location is for sure off the beaten path but well worth the extra few miles. I loved everything about the location and highly recommend.

  • Excellent and tranquil stay at Stronachlacher. The place was very clean and all as described. It is very isolated so be prepared for a half hour drive from Aberfoyle to get to it. A lovely place to come back to though at the end of the day.

  • Loved staying at Margaret’s Place. We were welcomed and felt like we were staying with family as soon as we got there! Beautiful area and great walking trails all Around. Duncan has a nice map and all the trails laid out with different time tables to look at. They even let us play cards at their dining table after dinner! Breakfast was wonderful with a full spread that kept us well fed until an early dinner. Would definitely recommend!

  • We so enjoyed our stay in Tarbet. Margaret and Duncan were outstanding hosts, and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. They have a lovely home and dog, allowed us to store bags while we did local hikes, and served a spectacular breakfast. They really inspire a repeat visit to Loch Lomond!

  • In short we felt like we were family. Everything was exceptionally clean. Both Duncan and Margaret were very friendly and great with communication to prepare for arrival. Then they put on an amazing spread for breakfast. We were both a bit sad that we had to leave as we drove away when our stay was over. We would love to be able to stay with them again!

  • Our stay with Margaret and Duncan was beyond our expectations. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival. Prime location. Walking distance to Loch Lomond cruises and local eateries. Our room was very comfortable and we slept great. Spacious bathroom. Our Scottish breakfast and conversations with Duncan and Margaret made our stay very special. For active people the hiking is phenomenal in the area. We highly recommend this for anyone that wants to visit the Loch Lomond area.

  • Amanda was a fantastic host. We had unfortunately ended up having to find an overnight stay at really short notice. Within 20 minutes of booking Amanda had sent us details of how to get to the place and met us in person to makesure everything was OK. The place itself had so many thoughtful touches. Highly recommended as a place to stay.

We are Barbara and Thorsten and would like to invite you to our guest house in the beautiful village of Balmaha on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond – the perfect location for walkers on the West Highland Way or for a short break away from it all. We offer hire bikes, please reserve with your booking, limited quantity available. WiFi available now!
The guest lodge has eight en suite rooms which can be configured as double or twin rooms – whichever you prefer. A communal kitchen is now available. The rooms are much more than a bedroom. The unique design offers a flexible space and converts from a sitting area suitable for playing games, enjoying a snack or simply relaxing with friends. For walkers arriving with wet clothes, each room features a heated drying rail and hanging area. Birchwood’s ventilation system means there’s no condensation or odours even when drying wet clothes and, better still, provides ventilation without the need to open the window…which keeps the midgies at bay in the summer months! The en-suites all have spacious (100cm x 80cm) shower enclosures, a heated towel rail and sensor water tap. Each room has a hairdryer and a kettle with complimentary tea. coffee, hot chocolate.
BALMAHA offers all you need including a village shop, a fantastic restaurant with great atmosphere and we recommend the home made ice cream from the coffee shop next to it. Check out the Loch Lomond National Park visitor centre nearby which offers lots of information about the local area. Interested in hiring a canoe? A boat trip to Inchcailloch a beautiful island with historical background? A boat trip to Luss on the west side of Loch Lomond which is a fantastic experience, If you like hiking, Conic Hill is just behind our location and the summit with it’s with a stunning view just an hour’s walk. A day walking trip to the top of Ben Lomond – Scotland’s most southerly Munro (Scottish hills over 3000 feet) – is worth it, we promise. And when you arrive back from your adventure, Birchwood Guest Lodge’s lovely rooms give you the perfect space for a well-deserved rest.
  • Thorsten has the most beautiful lodge in Loch Lomond, we had a perfect one night stay and would highly recommend it for anyone staying in the area. We could easily have stayed longer, with comfortable and clever convertible beds making the area very spacious during the day, a lovely bathroom and shower, and a fantastic cooking and eating space that was properly equipped for making and enjoying meals! The are itself is gorgeous and Thorsten was able to recommend a lovely local dinner as well. Do yourself a favour and stay in this beautiful space, you won't regret it!

    Maddy2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a small but fine room with bathroom (shower). The single beds could be pushed together to a double bed. The equipment was very well thought out and very practical for hikers. We were very peaceful and would definitely stay here again :)

  • We booked this flat as a weekend get away. It is lovely, fresh and stylish in appearance and very comfortable. Really easy to get to, especially if you arrive at Helensburgh Central train station, it is a 5 minute walk along the street. Close to lots of cafes, restaurants and the water front. Easy commuter links elsewhere thanks to trains and buses - if you don't want to use the car. Lovely extra touches of all things Scottish which we loved - and we ARE Scottish! A great wee bolt hole and we wish we'd booked another night. If you are a light sleeper you should know that the combination boiler is located in a cupboard in the bedroom - pack ear plugs and you won't know it is there.

    Sarah2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • I can highly recommend Charlottes place to anyone. It was incredibly clean and tidy, and supplied everything needed for our weekend trip. It was also located very central in Helensburgh which made it very convenient to get around.

All have hair dryers, wardrobes a vanity unit, bedside tables. 2 have a TV. Master bedroom has 2 bathrobes and towels are provided in all bathrooms. The rear twin and double bedrooms have French doors leading out onto a paved patio area. There is also a utility cupboard which includes the boiler and is great for drying wet clothes. The first floor living area is open plan. There is a very well equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and all cooking utensils you are likely to require. There is no need to bring anything with you. There is a below counter fridge and separate freezer. The dining table comfortably seats 8. The seating area furnished with leather sofas and chairs, coffee table, TV/DVD player accommodates 8. There is an outdoor balcony area on the first floor with table and 4 chairs. West of Scotland only a 20 minute drive to Glasgow airport and about 45 minutes to Glasgow's centre and all that has to offer. But what you are really after here is surely the beauty of Loch Lomond and the surrounding areas. Loch Lomond is stunning. There is a tour boat to take from nearby Balloch which takes you up and down the Loch. It's really beautiful. Balloch is a sweet town offering various pubs, restaurants and shops including a supermarket. On the east coast of Loch Lomond is the Ben itself a fairly easy 3 hour hike with amazing views 360. Connick Hill at Balmaha is easier and very accessible with great views from the summit. Up the west coast there is Luss (famous from the TV series Take the High Road. Ferries run from here. Also Tarbet (ferries), across to Arrochar, over 'The Rest and Be Thankful' pass to Loch Fyne and the original and well worth the trip Loch Fyne Oyster Bar - on;y have the exceptional value patter of Fruits de Mer in my opinion. Inveraray Castle etc lies a few further miles on. North of Loch Lomond about a 2 hour drive but well worth it is the awe inspiring Glen Coe. Pictured in James Bond Skyfall. A trip to the wilds of Scotland not to missed. There is so much to view and walk and climb. But don't forget to chill with a wee dram of Scottish hospitality too.
  • Superb place. Location fantastic and truly a great place to set up base. Try out the spa, it’s superb, and there’s always the option of a good meal at the Claret Jug. Truly a great place to stay

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. The views and location were perfect and our Hosts were very helpful and friendly. The cottage had everything we could possibly need and was a lovely place to stay in. With a shop and pub just yards away and set in a beautiful location we would happily return in the future.

    Ruth2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • I would not hesitate to recommend staying with Ben and Hazel. The view from the cottage is absolutely lovely looking onto Loch Long and the hills to the west and their hospitality is unmatched. If you fancy a great base to tackle the Arrochar Alps, with lovely views, a good shower, and wonderful people, then this is the place for you! Apart from our time in the hills we really enjoyed stopping in at the Village Inn which had a great selection of food (plus Vegan and Veggie friendly menus), and a good selection of adult beverages. The small general store directly next door to the cottage made self-catering very easy. Though we visited at New Year's it is undoubtedly a great wee getaway at any time of year. We will be back!

    Franca2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful stay here - Diane went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and pleasant. The lodge itself was beautifully decorated and a lot of thought and care has gone into its design (particularly the “hidden kitchen”!) The location is beautiful as well - Loch Lomond is a great place to explore for walkers and climbers (and even kayakers, which is what we did!) We would thoroughly recommend staying here if you plan to visit this area of Scotland.

  • We were very impressed by the standard of the amenities in the chalet, the cleanliness and the modern furnishings. It was the perfect place to unwind, with the bath tub being the highlight for us! Thanks for the dinner recommendations you gave us. We ended up down the road at Duck Bay for Fish & Chips. The picturesque village of Luss is less than 10 minutes away, making this location all the better.

Very warm welcome from Bridie upon arrival, made it clear that they were a simple message away should we need anything. Little touches like chocolates by the bed ,tea, coffee and biscuits were greatly appreciated. Was provided with helpful information on local sites & restaurants. Perfect stay for a romantic getaway. • The boathouse was an amazing little vase for our weekend away in Loch Lomond, waking up to stunning views was a real bonus of this apartment. Jeffrey has some great local recommendations for us and was very hospitable. The parking space was very handy as even though it’s a great location a car is still needed. The Cruin was walking distance and a great restaurant

It’s was my partners birthday, I asked if I could arrange balloons and banners to be sent to the apartment prior to our arrival, they put the banners up inside and outside the apartment with a bottle of fizz on ice for arrival. Jeffery’s communication throughout was excellent, the apartment was very clean, spacious with beautiful views of the Loch. I would recommend this apartment and Jeffery as a host any time.

  • The Dumpling is an amazing place to stay if you are visiting Loch Lomond. Eddie was a fantastic host and the place is filled with lovely little touches. We were visiting the Loch as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday and Eddie had got him a cake and card for when we arrived and even dropped us at the restaurant so we could have a drink or two, Fantastic hospitality.

    Holly2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable and cosy apartment - we enjoyed the log fire and the sauna! Eddie was a very friendly and welcoming host.

Lovely welcome from Eddie and Avril , would definitely recommend this lovely place to anyone wanting to explore the surrounding beautiful countryside or simply to chill out!!!

    Christian2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant short stay at Eddie’s. Well worth it. It is luxurious and spacious and was a treat to come back to after a long walk up Ben Lomond. The bath, sauna, outdoor space and Eddie himself were notable highlights. We would love to come back!

    Sara2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • My stay here was just wonderful. I highly recommend!! It’s charming and stylish and I slept so well. Great location too. Eddie was so helpful and friendly. I didn’t want to leave. Will definitely be back though.

    Donna2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was brilliant. It was ideal for my fiancé and I as we were simply looking for somewhere to enjoy a few days away from the daily grind. The dumpling did not disappoint. Eddie and his wife Avril were both very accommodating and have a beautiful space which is set off of any main roads where, at times, we could sit outside in the sun in absolute silence! It is a place unlike any we have ever seen and they really have gone the extra mile to make sure that the stay is clean, relaxing and as easy as possible. It is not often that we come back from a trip feeling relaxed but even though we were out and about exploring, walking and cycling in the day, the dumpling was an ideal space to unwind in the evening. If we ever get the chance we will definitely return! Ps. Boss the dog is the best! :)

  • This log cabin was the perfect weekend getaway from the city - a lovely space near Loch Lomond with walking paths right out the door, and a stretch of the West Highland Way a short walk away! The bedrooms were nice and toasty, and the hot tub was clean and a perfect way to end the day. Would definitely recommend a stay at Rosie and Dave's!

    Marlee2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is wonderfully cosy - the stove heats up very quickly and we even had to sleep with the windows open! We didn't get to meet Rosie, but we had clear instructions and getting in the house was easy. We loved hearing the river rushing right past the cabin, and the views were beautiful. We enjoyed some lovely walks in the Trossachs (the waterfalls down the road are also worth a look!) and spent a rainy afternoon playing board games by the fire. The hot tub was easy to use with clear instructions provided by Rosie, and it was the perfect special feature to celebrate a birthday! A fantastic weekend away, thanks Rosie.

Delightful one bedroom garden cottage ideally placed for exploring Loch Lomond and the West coast of Scotland while close enough to Glasgow to allow easy access to the city by road or rail.
Attached single storey cottage with double bedroom, shower room, fitted kitchen diner and conservatory set in a private walled garden. There is no private parking space but there is ample, free on street parking.
The cottage is in a quiet neighbourhood. It is a short, flat, walking distance to the small town centre and two minutes to the sea front which is lined with shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. There are two train stations, Helensburgh Central to travel to Glasgow and Edinburgh and Helensburgh Upper for the West Highland Line to travel north. You can also travel to Glasgow on this line but there are fewer trains. There is a good tourist information office in the town, a small cinema and the Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed 'Hill House'. There are two supermarkets within walking distance and a larger one on the outskirts of the town. There are also two petrol stations a short drive from the cottage. Helensburgh has two sailing clubs. The area is great for walking and cycling. There is a cycle path to Loch Lomond and beyond and good local walking trails. The John Muir Way starts in Helensburgh. If you bring bikes and are interested in cycling then I can put you in touch with local cyclists who can give you guidance about some of the best local routes. Bikes can be hired from Magic Cycles based in Bowling but you should book in advance in the summer. Check out their website.
  • Linda’s place was absolutely amazing! It’s basically being home away from home. The best Airbnb we’ve been so far and we’ve been to quite a few.

    Catherine2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • So much about this place was outstanding. Linda was such an unbelievable host – she thought of EVERYTHING! I was pleasantly surprised so often at all of her thoughtful touches and things she remembered so that your stay is the most comfortable- what a pro! Didn’t hurt that she was also very nice to talk to :) The house is spotless and very comfortable immediately. It is obviously a cozy, small place, but it is perfect.

    Lora2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place is located just outside of the centre of Helensburgh, about a 5 minute stroll into the centre. A lovely little cottage with everything you would need for a quiet getaway to Scotland. Milk, juice and breakfast bits were a lovely extra touch, as were the umbrellas!

    David2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s flat was lovely - incredibly clean, homely and full of nice touches to make the stay extra special! Great location right by the water and near to Helensburgh which has some nice pubs and cafes. Would highly recommend!

  • Beautiful little cottage in a very good location for travel to the Loch Lomond area and western Scotland. There were lots of amenities on offer, and we appreciated the little jug of milk in the fridge so we could have a cup of tea after a long drive up. Everything was clean and in good order, and the bed was very comfy. We would definitely recommend 'The Little House' to other travellers.

    Cherie2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place is a true gem right in the heart of Helensburgh, just a few steps from the water front. The conservatory is absolutely beautiful and makes it easy to relax after a long day of exploring. Helensburgh is a quaint little town with very nice restaurants and it's in the perfect location to head out to Loch Lomond and the Highlands. Communication was easy and Linda was extremely welcoming. Overall, I highly recommend a stay at Linda's place! :)

    Freya2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in the little house. The house was super clean and comfortable. Linda responds within minutes if you have a question. I would recommend to stay here to anyone! Just a warning for people taller then 1.95m. You will not fit in the shower.
