  • This was a very nice room with a very nice bed. We enjoyed having a tv with Netflix in the room as well. It felt like a hotel. Part of the whole reason we chose this room was the memory foam mattress, it did not disappoint, it’s a tempurpedic. We never saw James, it felt very private. I will say the walls are definitely thin, we could hear the neighbors one apt over. But that only even happened once and there is nothing the host could do about that.

  • Got in late, but was able to check myself in without a problem. Everything was neat and clean. Didn't have time to take advantage of many of the amenities, but a great place to stay and a great value for the space. Would definitely stay here again if I needed a place to stay in the area.

Private suite within a family home up the hill and through the woods from the picturesque campus of Emory & Henry College. Looks out over the highest peaks in Virginia -- Mount Rogers and White Top Mountain. Enjoy easy walking access to the college including Fred Selfe stadium. The trail passes through the campus golf courses -- both traditional and disc.
My husband and I live in the main part of the house with our kids, our sociable red heeler Cocoa, and our cat. Having enjoyed our many Airbnb travels, we've created this private suite to share our home with travelers looking to explore Southwest Virginia or visit Emory & Henry College. Our home is located less than a mile off I-81 down a gravel road. Guests will have access to two bedrooms with closets, bathroom with shower/tub, and a den with a bar, sink, mini fridge, and TV. Guests can enjoy the outdoor table and chairs on the deck.
We don't have any immediate neighbors, but the E&H campus is a short walk down the trail. Within a half mile walk from our house are the college book store, post office, and Macado's restaurant. Our home is surrounded by woods on three sides with mountain views from the front of the house. Easy access to I-81 makes our place very convenient to explore the area.
  • A true home away from home. A beautiful home and a wonderful family. Eric invited me upstairs for dinner, conversation, and male solidarity while his little girl had a sleepover with her friends. It turns out we had a lot of common interests. The whole stay was very pleasant and a great change of pace from traveling solo. I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat, if I find myself in the area.

    Alex2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Robin and Eric’s place was a cute, quiet and private. Super convenient to the E&H, Abingdon and Bristol. Easily accessible location right off of 81 but tucked away for privacy. Communication was quick and easy with Robin and Eric. Lots of extras supplied to make your stay comfortable.

    Jennifer2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, cozy, conveniently located home in a peaceful setting. Warm and helpful hospitality. Can’t ask for more. Would stay with them again.

    Jeff2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot and so very close to campus. We arrived later than we anticipated and the hosts were very gracious. Super comfy beds.

    Heather2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a lovely spot! Very easy to access and nestled next to Emory and Henry College. Enjoyed our chat with Eric upon arrival. On Eric and Robin’s recommendation, we had a lovely dinner at Macado’s on campus. Had a great night’s sleep, a cup of coffee (thoughtfully provided by our hosts) and a morning walk before we left. Perfect!

    Katie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Robin and Eric's place was wonderful! It was cold out, and this was the perfect place to curl up and watch a movie and drink the tea and coffee provided for us by Robin and Eric. If you're looking for a super quiet getaway, please take note that this AirBnb is in the basement of their home, so you'll hear the family coming and going. My partner and I didn't mind one bit, but it may be something to keep in mind if you're looking for a super quiet space. But, if you're not deterred by a few footsteps upstairs, you won't be disappointed with your stay here!

    Hannah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place was clean and comfy! The family was nice and even asked how I liked the temperature when I slept, which was so thoughtful. Beautiful location.

    Adrianna2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stop in south west virginia. Comfortable beds and linen allowed us to sleep through the night along with it being in such a quiet area. The shower was nice. It was large and had really nice water pressure. The apartment itself had such cute little touches. The books and puzzles around the bedrooms had us entertained.

Interesting walk-down apartment with everything needed for a convenient and comfortable stay (including AC). Interesting layout with full bed, outfitted kitchenette, tile shower, private entrance and dedicated parking. Decor? We call it "heirloomy" but we're open to suggestions. Our property has easy access to the Virginia Creeper Trail, the Holston River, South Holston Lake, and is just 8 minutes from Abingdon and I-81 exit 19 and 5 minutes from Damascus VA. Everyone is welcome here!
Our Get-Away AirBnB offers year-round comfort in a colorful, informal space. We've furnished the Get-Away with some of our favorite pieces -- old, comfortable and useful (nothing fancy). Sleeping for four includes two full size beds: our favorite pine frame bed and the futon couch which folds down for sleeping comfort for two children or adults. The kitchen offers a medium-size refrigerator/freezer, two-burner countertop stove, microwave, convection toaster/oven and everything necessary to make the perfect cup of coffee or tea (including French Press and Drip Cone. Dishes and cooking utensils are provided. Inside temperature and humidity are up to you; choices include heater, air conditioner, dehumidifier and pedestal fan. Many guests say the photos just don't do this space justice (but you can decide for yourself).
Our "neighborhood" is a handful of older homes on both sides of JEB Stuart Hwy (Hwy 58) situated in a beautiful area between Damascus and Abingdon VA. The Virginia Creeper Trail and the South Fork Holston River are directly behind the house, a short walk along our fence and just beyond the back of the property.
  • The apartment was very cozy and comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in southwest VA that's not too far from town. Bonus if you like animals, as they have a few that wander the property.

  • Great location for being at the mid point of the Creeper Trail. A short bike ride to Damascus and a great way to explore the lower half of the trail heading to Abingdon. Property was gorgeous and perfect place to star gaze on a clear night. Will definitely keep this on our list of places to return. Jon & Carole were super friendly and full of local information.

    Paula2019-09-22T00:00:00Z

  • The space was extremely clean and cozy. My wife and I stayed with our 2 sons and it was perfect. Extra linens were provided along with other extra little things like the necessities to make coffee, my wife appreciated very much. There was games there for the boys to play while we were in between activities and even a working fireplace. I highly recommend staying here to others and we would love to come again in the spring.

  • Loved this barn!!! We had a great weekend staying here. It was really spacious and relaxing. And the decor!! It was so cute and charming. The bedding was so comfy that I’ve already ordered the same brand of sheets! We thought it was great for a couples weekend away. Stacey is a great host.

    Tara2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was so magical. It was the most perfect adventure we could of asked for. It was so clean and beautiful. The views out the picturesque windows were incredible. The bed was also incredibly comfortable and we loved sitting out on the porch (which was right off the bedroom) and glazing at the stars!!!! We had a blast.

  • We absolutely loved our stay! We will definitely be coming back to stay here again. So close to everything in Damascus.

  • Stacey made our stay extra special with the beautiful design of the space and even went the extra step to make it festive for the holiday. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone desiring a memorable stay in Damascus.

    Christine2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This little barn in the woods was perfect for thanksgiving, it really set the homey mood we were looking for! The first night in we realized there was no coffee maker and the next day a brand new Keurig was on the porch out front of the door. Stacey is an exceptional host and was there for anything we needed. The loft was clean, had all the pots and pans we needed, and more than enough “essentials” in case something g was forgotten. We will definitely be coming back here! - Madison

  • This cottage provided us with a clean and convenient place to stay while hiking and biking the area. It is close to the outdoor adventures we wanted to experience. Stacey was quick with following up to any questions we had. FYI It is in an area that doesn’t have cellular service for at&t. The cottage has internet service but it is not hi speed.

  • Sylvia made our weekend feel like we were staying at a friend’s! Our travel itinerary was wonky but she met us in the driveway as soon as we got there. The cabin was a lovely, country escape and the space is used very efficiently. Watching the sunrise from the front porch was so peaceful! We slept soundly and felt safe. Sylvia is an understanding and gracious host. (The kids loved the snacks—like being at Gramma’s!) We would definitely return.

She had so many breakfast items, including juice, milk, large bowl of fresh fruit, multiple cereals, fresh bagels and muffins, snacks, iced tea, coffee, etc...Her campfire and smores are a nice bonus! The cabin itself is historic and charming, very comfortable and secluded. We were there to ride the Creeper Trail and celebrate an anniversary; we chose well and highly recommend the Blair Cabin!

Damascus is a small but lively town with lovely period architecture and a soul of southern hospitality. Boxed in on three sides by National Forest, the area offers unparalleled access to the outdoors for people of all fitness levels. Often referred to as “Trail Town, USA”, it is known for its hiking, biking, and heritage trails. The Appalachian Trail follows Laurel Avenue right through the heart of Damascus. The Virginia Creeper Trail, a 34-mile multi use trail from Abingdon to Whitetop Mountain, is one of the countries most cherished Rail-to-trails. The Trans-America National Bicycle Trail, the Iron Mountain Trail, the Daniel Boone Heritage Trail, the Crooked Road Musical Heritage Trail, and Virginia’s Birding and Wildlife Trail all pass through Damascus along their routes. Neighboring parks like Grayson Highlands State Park, Hungry Mother State Park, and the Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area offer hiking at every degree of difficulty, and some of the best single-track mountain biking you will find in the U.S. The highest navigable road in Virginia leads to the summit of Whitetop mountain which provides panoramic views of three states from over 5,000 feet of elevation. Aside from the 1,500 feet of river frontage you’ll be able to enjoy at Laurel Run Cabins, there are many more nearby rivers and streams in both Virginia and Tennessee offering world class trout fishing and a wide variety of other game species, along with kayaking and rafting. South Holston Lake (20 minutes from the cabins) is gorgeous and never overcrowded. Renting a Pontoon boat, jet ski, SUP, or kayak are great ways to get out on the water and explore this unspoiled area. Nearby Abingdon, a Virginia Historic Landmark and thriving artistic community, hosts the Barter Theater, which opened on June 10, 1933 and is the longest-running professional theatre in the nation. Enjoy unique local shops, historical buildings, a thriving farmers market and year-round live music at a number of venues. This year Abingdon was voted #1 in USA Today’s “Best Small-Town Food Scene” competition. Try White Birch, 128 Pecan, Morgan’s, The Peppermill, the Tavern, or The Harvest Table in nearby Meadowview.
  • We loved our stay in our cozy cabin with all the comforts of home. The fabulous craftmanship of the cabin and country décor went hand and hand. The kitchen was well stocked for hosting our biking group. Trudy communicated promptly and assisted us with any of our needs during our stay. We will definitely be back.

This place had everything we needed and was super clean. I never saw the host but never needed too. Everything was explained in check in and check out. If we come back to Abingdon I will definitely try to get this place again. Very reasonable priced in fact I spent more money in the olive oil shop downstairs than I did on the place lol. Totally loved this experience. Thank you!

The location is great, very walkable to many things. We will definitely come back here when we visit Abingdon again. I want to come back when the weather is warm so we can enjoy the outdoor space at the house too. Robin was easy to reach and left good information on what to do/ where to go around town

The River House is a quiet two story farm house that sits on the South Fork of the Holston River. It is halfway between the trail town of Damascus and historic Abingdon. Enjoy the relaxing wrap around porch where you can hear and see the sights of the river. A short walk from the driveway is the Virginia Creeper Trail, the perfect place to hike, bike, or just walk with family. Fish along the bank of the river or take a short trip to the town of Abingdon to visit the Barter Theatre.
  • We truly enjoyed our stay at the River House. Perfect setting right between Abingdon and Damascus. The house was very clean and the kitchen was generously stocked. The wrap around porch was lovely! Connie was always quick to respond and glad to accommodate any requests we had. Highly recommend!

    Shaun2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • There was a downside to staying here: We did NOT want to leave! This is a lovely and restful place in the rolling Virginia hills. We were not disappointed in any aspect of the stay. We will be back! The home is an old farmhouse, restored and decorated accordingly with many detailed touches: oilcloth tablecloth, embroidered curtains, and even the new floors were varied so as to match the original. The veranda is wonderful; we watched the sun go down from the porch swing, listening to the river. In summer it would be even more inviting. There are horses in the nearby pasture and you are invited along with the owner to feed them. If you are worried about noise. don’t. They are quiet! Wireless is strong here, important because the area is largely without reliable cell service. Enable wireless reception on your cell phone and you can stay connected to the outside world. There is also a reliable land line for guest use. Beds are comfy and the baths updated while still keeping the original space. Plenty of hot water. The kitchen is compact but is the best equipped I have found in an air B and B. We cook while on the road, and this place has everything we could wish for—even a well seasoned—and old—cast iron pan. Foodies will be right at home. Connie is easy to connect with and there were many thoughtful touches. We were there right after Christmas and she had the house decorated with a tree, wreaths, and garlands. It really felt like a welcoming home—important because we spend so much time in rented dwellings. Do choose River House. It’s a delight.

    Stephen2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is our third time staying at the River House this year! A perfect place to get away from it all. We bicycled the Creeper Trail, saw a play at the Barter Theatre, played lots of card games in front of the fire, and sat by the river at the fire pit. It was cold but lovely. Already looking for available times for 2020!!

    Julie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time and loved being next to the water and so close to the Creeper Trail. Connie is a great host.

  • I stopped at the Hobo Hostel for one night while on a very long car trip. I enjoyed my stay very much. The hostel is extremely clean and full of furniture with a lot of character that fits the style of the house. Since I was aware of the whole train situation going in (the hostel is right next to the tracks), that didn't detract from my experience. The train came by twice while I was sleeping: 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Both times I just rolled over, peeked at the clock, waited a couple minutes for it to pass, and went right back to sleep (earplugs are available, though honestly I don't think they'd help much unless you're a heavy sleeper, since the trains make the whole house vibrate). A very minor interruption, and worth it for the inexpensive accommodations, if you ask me. The hostel is quiet, the beds are comfy, and I got a good night's sleep.

The Hobo Hostel is very close to many fun activities in Abingdon - I walked to the nearby brewery and the Barter Theater, and I biked on the Virginia Creeper Trail during the day before staying at David's. I would highly recommend a night in Abingdon and staying at David's to save a few bucks, very worth it!

Our dog is a bit of a sensitive girl when it comes to being away from home, and she just settled right in. I would highly recommend this home to stay in. Also, Connie was very prompt in replying and the instructions are very clear.

Fortunately we had warm weather and were able to enjoy the outdoor deck overlooking the river. And also take advantage of the Creeper Trail just across the bridge by the house. Plenty of room for the 5 of us to relax. Having goats on one side and cows on the other was an added attraction! Thanks Connie for a great place to stay!

Bear Tree Lake is 3 miles close by, where you can fish, swim or walk the one mile trail around the lake.It is a place to come, unwind and disconnect. It is located 10 miles outside of Damascus toward White Top Mountain.
This house was decorated to be comfortable and cozy. Above all I wanted it to feel like a home. It has everything you will need for a stay other than your clothes, hygiene items and food. It is located away from town and a little driving through beautiful National Forest will bring you to quaint little towns like Damascus, Chilhowie, Marion or Abingdon where there are lots of things to do. Or you can hike on hiking trails close by. Bear Tree Lake is three miles from here and you can walk, fish or just enjoy the beautiful view.
This is in the country. A place for hanging out and enjoying the mountain air and nature.
  • I cannot express enough how wonderful this place was, we loved staying there and already plan to return. It was spotlessly clean and nice, and we immediately felt at home. The view around it is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the creek. Thank you so much Wally for sharing your little home with us. We will certainly recommend it to our friends. :)

  • This is a great place to stay!!! It is a very comfortable house. We took our grandchildren ages 12 and 9. They really enjoyed playing in the yard. Great access to the Virginia Creeper Trail!

  • My family and I went down to Damascus for my yearly family reunion and the house location was wonderful. The house was very spacious, comfy, and in a quiet location. We took our two year old to the creek on the property and we saw the neighbors turkeys, they would come over and visit. We had everything we needed at the house and we had a great stay.

  • This house is super - it has everything you could need. We loved sitting on the front porch enjoying the cool air, drinking our coffee, listening to the birds, creek, cows, and goats from next door. Beds were super comfy. We were welcomed with freshly cut daisies and peonies which made it seem even more quaint. The garden and flowers are lovely. About a 20 minute drive down to Damascus. Very close to Creeper trail and Whitetop. I highly recommend!

  • They were super hosts! Small things made it special. We had a very quiet time and much needed recovery. Would go back again!

  • We really enjoyed our time at the house. The kids loved the turkeys and the fire by the river. Inside was cozy, had everything we needed and everything worked as advertised. Internet speeds were great, we were able to stream Netflix. Great access to hiking and biking, we definitely recommend catching the shuttle from Damascus to the top of the Creeper Trail, it’s an easy 17 mile downhill coast back to town, fun!

  • This is a nice home in Damascus. The house is cozy, homey, and has everything you need for a weekend getaway. The owner’s description of location was helpful in planning. We would rent Rosebud Manor again.

  • This is a quite place and is very conveniently located. My stay here was nice. The only issue was a that there seemed to be a squirrel that had gotten inside the attic space. It would occasionally make weird noises and sounded like it was running around. I did let Debbie know about it. She was very quick to respond to all my questions. She was super friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if in the area.

    David2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here over a weekend in early summer. The surrounding area is beautiful with all kinds of hiking. The airbnb was nicer than I had expected from the pictures, and Debbie was super responsive when I had a couple questions at checkin. I would definitely recommend this place to a couple or small group.

  • GREAT LOCATION!!! You can roll out of bed and get on the trail or a quick jaunt to town. Nice clean place and Debbie responds quickly to all messages!!

The upstairs bedroom/suite has a queen bed and full pull out sofa and TV with ROKU/Netflix/Hulu and basic cable. A mini frig is in the hallway outside your room. The paved driveway is in the back of the house off of Madison Street and is steep. If you bring your bicycles we have space to store them. We also host long distance bicycle riders through a site called Warmshowers. If we happen to have a biker they will be in the bedroom across the hall but will use downstairs bathroom. There is an active train a block from our house.
We are in an older neighborhood in Abingdon that is going through gentrification. The Barter Theatre is about a 15 minute walk (.06 Mi.) and Wolf Hills Brewery is about a 15 minute walk (.07 Mi.) from our home. There is an active train track 2 block from our house.

This is a remarkable place! Quiet, natural setting near Holston Lake, Abingdon, The Creeper Trail, and downtown Damascus. Located DIRECTLY on the Creeper Trail and DIRECTLY on the South Fork of the Holston River! The cabin is ideal for two people but additional space may be available in an adjoining cabin for an additional charge.
The cabin contains a bedroom with a queen size bed and two large closets. There is a modern eat-in galley style kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator/freezer and microwave. The cabin also offers a comfortable living room and a TV with a built in DVD player. Your private bathroom is large containing a tub, shower, and washer and dryer for your convenience. Step outside the back door onto a beautiful deck and you'll be less than 50 feet from the picturesque South Fork of the Holston River. Enjoy the sounds of the river and the abundant wildlife as you sip your coffee at daybreak and beverage of choice at dusk! You can choose to prepare your meals in the fully equipped kitchen, on the grill on the deck, or enjoy your private riverside clearing and cook over an open fire on the bank of the river. Less than 10 feet from your front door lies the Virginia Creeper Trail! Hike or bike 3 miles to the Holston Lake, 6 miles to downtown Damascus, or 10 miles to downtown Abingdon.
Alvarado is a quaint community within Damascus limits but located between Abingdon, VA and Damascus, VA. Abingdon is the county seat of Washington County and boasts historic buildings, frontier lore, the famed Barter Theatre and many shops and restaurants for any budget. If you enjoy free outdoor concerts, farmers markets, craft breweries and wineries then Abingdon is for you! Damascus, VA is a destination for hikers and bikers of all ages and abilities with 6 trails converging downtown! ( and also boasts it's own brewery!) Rent a shuttle to the top of Whitetop Mountain and enjoy a breathtakingly beautiful downhill ride back to Damascus where you will find eateries, music, craft beer and kindred spirits! Other attractions include a visit to Backbone Rock, or try the Columns in Meadowview- one of my favorites! Don't forget to take the 30 minute ride to Bristol, VA/TN for antiquing, and maybe even a visit to Bristol Motor Speedway!

  • Ellen’s home was such a pleasant cabin to visit. The location couldn’t get any better as we were able to walk out the front door and get on the trail. We were also able to walk out the back door and fish on the south Houston River. Such an ideal opportunity. Sitting on the back porch and drinking coffee while listening to the rushing water was so relaxing! The cabin was very clean, with nice amenities, and all the comforts of home. We definitely want to visit again.

    Carol2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place to stay along the Virginia Creeper Trail. Everything was spotless and the entire reservation/communication process was easy. We will definitely go again!!!

    Elizabeth2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect cabin if you want to cycle on the Virginia Creeper. We rode from the cabin to Abingdon one day and to Damascus the next day. The cabin is extremely clean with all the things you need for a great stay. Ellen is a good host who was very responsive. We can't wait to stay in the cabin again!

    Barbara2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay Very convenient to the creeper trail

    Carolyn2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time here and its the perfect location to explore the VA Creeper. Cabin is literally on the trail and with the river running behind the cabin there is not a better spot for morning coffee (or evening libations). What we also liked is the cabin is west of Damascus so much less busy on the trail than easterly side (meaning quiet and fewer out of control riders). But its still an easy ride or drive into Damascus to eat or shop. Also the trail between Cabin and Abingdon is the most scenic portion IMO. Enjoy!

    Neil2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is perfect. It's much bigger than it looks with a great bathtub and everything you need. It was clearly well maintained and recently cleaned; stocked with towels and extra linens. The cabin is right on the creeper trail, so if you're planning on running or biking the trail, it's perfect!

  • Rented Rob and Chelsea’s place for a weekend girls trip and we couldn’t have been happier. The space had everything we needed, plenty of space for the 4 of us, and the decor and building were to die for. We were a quick walk away from many of the local shops and restaurants and ended up spending a lot of time at White Birch Food and Juice, which is only a minute walk up the sidewalk. (Side note - that place rocks... food Is great, drinks are great, and we caught some live music last Saturday night and had a blast) Thanks for your hospitality Rob and Chelsea, your property was a huge part of making our weekend everything we had hoped for! 🥰

  • Great place!

    Trae2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely space that reminds you why airbnb is so fun. Chelsea and Rob's place puts the chic in shabby chic. It is equal parts stylish and comfortable. We visited Abingdon for a friend's wedding and didn't spend much time in the apartment, but it was perfect for a quiet afternoon break from the festivities, and morning espresso (every airbnb should have an espresso machine). It is also the perfect location. We walked everywhere and recommend the juice bar in the same block.

    Amelia2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is really great! The suite is clean, uncluttered and very open. The location could not be better - easy walking distance to the Creeper Trail and multiple restaurants. The building has a sweet front porch with rockers and swings. Chelsea and Rob were super available for any questions we had during our stay. Please know that it is up 2 flights of stairs and the A/C is window units. Neither were a problem for us.

The neighborhood is residential and quiet, but extremely convenient. For the history buffs, you're within easy walking distance of our county historical society and Sinking Spring Cemetery, where the names on the tombstones are the names on our streets. Most importantly, this is a pretty safe neighborhood.
  • The place was spotless and had everything that we needed (even a small library, bottle water, and a big jar of treats!). It looked cute and smelled nice! It's conveniently located and quiet. My girlfriend and I spent two nights there and had a wonderful time. The hostess, Donnamarie, is super sweet and is wealth of knowledge about Abingdon and the surrounding area. We've decided that we will come back again!

Abingdon is a delightful small colonial town in Southwest Va. It is home to the Virginia Creeper--a fabulous bike trail downhill from NC (34 miles) and the Barter Theater. Nearby are Mt. Rogers, Bristol Motor Speedway and Bristol Caverns. Our home is set on 3 rolling acres just a mile outside of Abingdon, and just a mile and a half to a wonderful community center with indoor pool, outdoor pool (summer), full gym and hot tub. Please note that the pool and hot tub are at community center-2 mi.
Your room is over what was originally the garage, but now serves as a gym and family room. That area is shared with owners and has a large TV, gas fireplace, far-infrared sauna, gym equipment, piano, and guitar. The bedroom has a wonderful brand new king bed, red leather couch, rocking chair, TV and DVD player, CD player, electric fireplace, microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker (regular and K-cup)and is very private. The bath is private, but in the hall below.
Our neighborhood is in a rural area about a mile from downtown Abingdon. It is quiet and peaceful with cows across the street. We are only about a mile and a half from the community center which has a wonderful 25 meter indoor pool, full gym, basketball court, outside pool for summer, aerobic and weight machines and more. Guest fee is very reasonable.
  • What friendly and generous hosts! Very knowledgeable about the area! Lovely home and hospitality with such comfortable bedding too! Gorgeous mountaintop views, yet convenient to all Abingdon has to offer - only a few minutes away. What a gem of a stay, Jim and Carrol pay attention to the details of this space for their guests.

  • The rain did not dampen our enthusiasm for this cozy mountain retreat. The bed and room were extremely comfortable. Jim whipped up a nutritious breakfast for us before we left, and the food and conversation were delightful! We will be back - with our own bikes next time.

  • You can expect the best host and hostess and the most comfortable bed.

  • Jim and Carroll are welcoming and gracious hosts. They ensured that everything was provided for during our stay. The loft room was charming and spacious. The king bed and pillows were sooo very comfortable. We heartily recommend that you stay with them. We plan to stay with them again on our next VA Creeper Trail trip.

  • Jim and Carroll are gracious, friendly hosts with a beautiful property just far enough from Main Street to feel like you're in the country and close enough you can pop out to enjoy whatever you like. The room is comfortable and charming and has everything you need. They invite you to make yourself at home, and Jim gave me loads of insider tips on where to eat and how to enjoy the Virginia Creeper Trail. I'm already trying to figure out when I might go back for a longer stay.

  • Jim and Carroll were phenomenal hosts and very welcoming and accommodating. Had an issue with reservation (Airbnb issue not theirs) and they worked with us to get it straight. I will be staying there when visiting town again.

  • Jim was very hospitable and accommodating. Beautiful country side home where we went for a walk on the rolling hills. The large room is upstairs and the small bathroom is downstairs.

Country pine paneled walls, ceiling fans, AC, wireless mini sound system, classic book collections, card table for jigsaw puzzles and games, air mattress, leather couch, a few antiques and rustic rocking chairs make this space interesting and comfortable. The TV in the bedroom is for movies only (our own collection is in the TV cabinet). Efficiency is the key to our galley-style kitchenette, stocked with necessary eating and cooking implements and appliances. A special treat for tea and coffee drinkers: a "healthy" electric kettle and french coffee press, drip filter AND complimentary coffee and a variety of herbal teas. Add our filtered water and voila! a perfect cup your way! A tiny bathroom finishes out the space (the shower is 32"x32", a bit tight but functional). Body wash along with "friendly" shampoo and conditioner are provided.
Our property is on the road between Damascus VA (five minute drive) and Abingdon VA (15 minute drive). While we are located on the road that connects Damascus and Abingdon, a five minute walk or brief bike ride takes you to peace and quiet along the beautiful Holston River on the 35 mile Creeper Trail. We offer very easy access to our property, off-street parking, and easy direct routes to just about anything you may want or need.

  • We unfortunately had to cancel last minute for personal reasons. Jonathan and Carole were very gracious in their response. We hope to make the trip soon and stay with them in the future.

  • Jonathan and Carole went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed, even stopping to say hello. We were invited to explore the property, and the nearby adventure areas were easily accessible. The place was sparkling clean and quaint. The bed was quite comfortable as well. Thank you for a great stay during our journey!

  • This is an amazing space for creatives, ourdoor lovers, or maybe someone who needs to be inspired. Jon and Carole have seemly taken their time to really add all the touches to give you those cozy cabin feels. You really can't beat this location either. Its literally minutes from the Damascus Virginia Creeper Trailhead and is just down the road from lots of shuttleand bike rental shops where you can park your car and head to Whitetop ir Abingdon. They are right in the main road so you can just one road around the mountain to hike Graysons Highlands , The Channel, or several other great sites I have stayed in 3 air bnbs here in SW VA and this has been my favorite. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend !
