  • We enjoyed our visit to this lovely part of rural Connecticut, with its rolling hills, farms and woodlands. There is beautiful scenery all around this Airbnb, and good places to walk. The guest quarters are spacious and attractive, with many thoughtful touches and all the comforts of home. We enjoyed our visit very much.

  • Great private entrance apartment that has everything you could want, and a giant tv. We felt spoiled by the coffee selection. Nice people

    Emma2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed at Jennifer's several times now as we come to visit our family in the area. We've come to think of it as a home away from home, a relaxing, clean and very comfortable place to come back to at the end of a full day of playing with a busy baby and his parents! We've never been anything but completely satisfied. This was our first winter visit and on arrival Jennifer had the electric fireplace going, very cozy and warm on one of the coldest nights of the year. Much appreciated in addiiton to all the other comforts provided.

    Beth2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such an incredible stay! It was the perfect weekend getaway. Great amenities inside the guest suite: a Keurig, snacks, and a delightful sitting area to watch TV when it got chilly. Would definitely recommend! Jennifer was incredibly nice and hospitable as well. Thank you for a terrific trip!

    Lucas2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Right now the weather is very cold outside with a warm wood fire burning inside. Time for a quick walk with Argos outside to visit the horses and donkey.

    William2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great, clean spot in great location. I wasn't able to hang with the horses because I was tight on time, but their farm is really neat!

    Alex2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very good landlord, very good farm, a parrot, a white and a black two cats, two dogs, a lot of horses, fresh eggs every day, ultra cost-effective, worth the experience!

  • I had such a terrific time staying at Mikaila’s place. We only stayed for a night, but it was everything we were looking for and more. Mikaila was super welcoming, our room was super clean and cozy, and in the morning we got to say hello to the animals. I’d recommend Mikaila’s place to anyone passing through the area.

    Ashley2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mikaila's description of her home is very accurate and a wonderfully pastoral experience for those looking for an authentic country farmhouse stay. I grew up on a small family farm much like Mikaila's and it was great to be back in that environment with the rural feeling, dogs and cats, and country hospitality. It is very quiet and you will definitely get good sleep. I also really enjoyed talking with Mikaila and her family members, all good people who are very down to earth and welcoming. Thank you!

  • Super clean, comfortable and stylish space - the perfect little getaway! The place felt like it was brand new, and had so many thoughtful touches. Amber was an amazing host, thank you!

    Jennifer2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amber's place was the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Not only was it full of thoughtful touches, it was beautifully and simply decorated and the cleanliness was next level. The apartment was in pristine condition as if we were the first guests ever. Their commitment to providing a 5 star accommodation is clear. We were quite busy during our visit so we didn’t speak or see our hosts but they were extremely responsive. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, I would move in if I could. Thank you!

    Lauren2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amber’s place is everything we could have hoped for. So cozy, clean and comfortable. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Great place. Bigger than it looks. Full apartment above a large garage. Super clean. Great hosts. Will stay again.

    Kenneth2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ambers place is perfectly located close to restaurants and the Warner Theatre ( our reason for trip) so three minutes away was awesome! It’s, sweet, beautiful and SPOTLESS... Also, extra attention is given to her guests needs and preferences. Communication pronto! Very comfortable and cozy in Winter too, with pretty view of snow covered premises. Bravo Amber!

Our house is the perfect getaway. Swimming, boating, hiking, snow skiing, apple picking, vineyards, you choose! The area offers great restaurants and family friendly activities. Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck, swim from your private beach and dock(in after Memorial Day),kayak(3 available- please bring your own life vests) BBQ on the gas grill, enjoy the fire pit on the beach and roast marshmallows.House is great for couples, individuals, families and groups. 8 maximum please.
The house is spacious and bright.
The house is situated on Connecticut's largest natural lake. We live in a cove, so there is less boat traffic than being on the main part of the lake. The house is on a main road, and only has neighbors to one side who are usually only around on the weekend.
  • This house is lovely! We can't wait to return in a warmer part of the year and soak in all the house has to offer! The views of the lake even in the winter months are spectacular. It was very clean, and so well laid out. It's got great style and is close to everything. Priscilla was quick to respond when we had questions, and we're so thankful she opens up her beautiful home to host others. Great stay, and will be back!

    Christina2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Priscilla's house over the Christmas holiday and we could not have had a nicer time. Any questions we had, Priscilla answered almost immediately. The house was perfect for our family holiday!

    Sharon2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! We had a very relaxing autumn weekend enjoying foliage and local sights. The place is large, comfortable, and extremely clean. And it's right on the lake! Priscilla was very easy to communicate with and we really enjoyed our time here.

    Andrew2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in a great location

    Will2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a family wedding nearby and were looking for a place that would allow our kids and their cousins to have a great time. Excellent location on the lake and so much seating for the adults, it made our two family bbq more than perfect!

    Chris2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful vacation at your beautiful house on the lake. It was comfortable, clean and had everything you could ask for inside and out. I would highly recommend for a fun and relaxing vacation.

    Patty2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This lake house was fantastic. Right on a beautiful lake in a no wake zone portion. Lake was clean and we enjoyed swimming, boating and fishing. House was sparkling clean and had all the amenities we needed. Lots of outdoor seating and a fire pit. House included 4 kayaks and a paddle board. A canoe or rowboat would have been nice to make it easier to fish from out on the lake and more life vests were necessary. Otherwise, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Would definitely return!

    Brian2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house is only beaten by its location. The house and grounds were immaculate and offered everything we needed for a family getaway. Priscilla is a fantastic host who was quick to respond and made sure we had everything we needed upon arrival. We didn't use the fire pit but it was set up wonderfully and with wood and kindling provided. The house lends itself to relaxed lakeside living, tea on the porch, our daily great blue heron visits and spending all day in and out and on the water. I brought my paddle boards and have never used them so much! The lake was calm and the perfect temperature for swimming also. We are already talking about how long we'll stay next time.

Litchfield County farmhouse (c.1890) with a modern studio addition and distinctive interiors that feature a number of mid-century modern furnishings. The owners are a writer and an architect who have built a truly unique home full of original art and a huge book collection. The property itself is small but it is surrounded by 250 acres of farmed conservation land and a short walk will take you past some of the most scenic farms in Litchfield County.
The house has three bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen, separate dining room, and a kid's playroom in the basement. Best of all is a big screened-in porch with an outdoor fireplace, family-size lounge seating and a rustic table for outside dining that seats eight. This area is covered by a roof so even in rainy weather the whole family can hang out together outside. The eat-in kitchen is big and well-appointed with everything a chef could need. Outdoor propane BBQ grill is close at hand with a huge outdoor picnic table and back patio that gets lots of sun. We have tons of board games, toys, and books for you to enjoy during your stay. The sleeping arrangements are such that one family or two couples with kids can sleep comfortably; upstairs is one full bath that serves the master bedroom (king bed) and the guest room (two twins, one pulls out to sleep more kids if necessary). Downstairs in the private studio wing is one bedroom (queen bed) with a full bath directly adjacent. There is also a half bath downstairs adjacent to the main living areas.
Enjoy scenic walks past farms and grazing cattle, truly a special corner of Litchfield County with lots of wildlife and birds. House is private but not too secluded, views of a 100 acre cornfield to the north and a hay field to the south are breathtaking in any season. Huge bird population, wild rabbits, and woodchucks abound.
  • Highly recommend. Absolutely gorgeous home, remarkably quiet (perfect for escaping the city), very clean, and a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed the lovely screened patio. Scott was very responsive and the home was well stocked, especially the kitchen.

    Tim2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The combination of historic and modern, along with the collection of books, typewriters, cameras etc., was wonderful. We didn't have the chance to use the outdoor spaces - but they seem as well thought out as the rest of the house. This was such an unexpected find for this part of Ct.

    Elizabeth2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Intimate and intricate details made it cozy, warm, and relaxing.

    Kimberly2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway for friends looking to play board games, cook dinner, and enjoy a nice glass of wine in a stylish accommodation. Scott's place had everything we needed to feel comfortable throughout our stay. The architecture and design is high-end but the place still feels incredibly comfortable. Highly recommended!

    Alison2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Scott’s home is everything advertised and more. My family enjoyed every minute of our weekend and are already looking at when we can book a summer trip.

    Nikki2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our group Included a retired couple, our daughter & family from Idaho including an infant, and sister from Boston for a night - a very diverse group, and Scott's home exceeded our high expectations all around. Some key points for us in visiting this highly recommended home: (1) Scott communicated impeccably on key items (2) The home was spotless with seriously good supplies and provisions, both in terms of quantity and quality. (3) The snowy surroundings were beautiful, but typically quaint and thoughtful shops and restaurants were very well described in Scott's home "manual". (4) The home's very interesting history is well documented and also provides comforts for children without getting in the way of the big people.

    Jeff2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place. I won't repeat all the great things other reviewers noted, but I agree 100% with all the positive reviews. Had everything we could have wanted, and the outdoor fireplace and indoor board games were great. Very scenic location convenient to town and to great hikes. You can't go wrong with this property!

    Joanna2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Scott's place. It was super clean and had everything we needed. The house and grounds were beautiful. The host's tips for places to go and things to do near the house were super helpful. Great weekend getaway. Definitely recommend.

  • Roger was a great host, super accommodating, flexible and responsive. The house was very clean and cozy, bed was comfy, and warm overall during the winter. Grill and firepit were awesome. Though Roger stayed in the main house, its a good distance from this guest house and we felt we had our privacy. Highly recommend, will def return in the summer for the pool!

  • Roger's cottage is so comfortable and cozy! Beautiful property that backs up to Camp Columbia State Park for hiking- perfect if you are traveling with your pups. Roger was super accommodating with a last minute Christmas request and even set up a tree which was a nice touch during a stressful time. Comfy bed and couch, great layout, and easy access to Litchfield, Middlebury, Southbury, etc.

  • Roger's pool house is the perfect place to stay when you are visiting this beautiful part of Connecticut. It is located close to many hiking trails and small towns but is a quiet little escape from all those things too. And Roger will make sure that you know everything you need to know to explore the area. He is a great host.

  • I’m a healthcare provider who stayed with Barbara for many months. I work nights and it was always quiet, comfortable, and clean. The WiFi always works, and I’m a five min drive from the hospital, or 20 min walk. The neighborhood has lots of amenities within walking distance, such as 7-eleven and several restaurants (mostly Dominican). There are also two bus lines nearby. I enjoyed the hospitality shown by Barbara and her family such as prompt response to emergencies, fully stocked kitchen, and washer/dryer. I love Waterbury and this definitely contributed to me loving it. Thanks so much.

  • Loved Jamie’s place for a quiet and serene getaway. The place was exactly how described and the pictures didn’t even do the property justice. It was beautiful. We enjoyed the pool and especially loved the daily visits from Reggie, the chocolate lab. Thanks for having us and can’t wait to come back!

    Kristina2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jamie’s place was perfect for some R & R, it was clean, comfortable and Jamie was responsive. I will definitely stay there again!

  • An idyllic retreat to the country with a pool and property that are a wonderful place to relax and hangout. Convenient to towns nearby. A super friendly dog to play with. Jamie is a super host and gets back quickly on any requests.

  • Truly an amazing space they’ve created and we are grateful that Jamie and her family have chosen to share it. My son and I had the perfect 4 day stay and didn’t want to leave. Plenty of places close by for my son to fish, an AMAZING yard to toss a football and the pool with the surroundings is something out of a magazine. We didn’t take advantage of the workout room with the exception of the yoga ball that I used daily :) Incredible attention to detail and high end all the way. My son and I loved West Shore Seafood.....according to him, best burger he’s ever had and in my opinion, best fried fish sandwich I’ve ever had. We ate there two nights in a row ...lol. I’ve already recommended the space to friends and family. Exactly what we needed. A little rest and relaxation in a bucolic setting.

    Leyla2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I had an amazing 4 day stay in this amazing space and I couldn’t be happier. The property, pool and building are something you would see in a magazine and Jamie was great about responding to any messages we sent. We spent time fishing and exploring the nearby lakes and had dinner two nights at west shore seafood eating some of the best burgers and fried fish sandwiches either of us have ever had. We didn’t take advantage of the workout room but I used the yoga balls daily which was perfect. This place is fully equipped with anything we needed and the entire trip was great ....start to end. Bucolic setting and super relaxing. Will definitely go back.

Enjoy a cozy Winter respite in a charming and beautifully appointed riverfront cottage on private half acre Sensitive to those with allergies by being cat-free and able to accommodate special laundry requests. Please message host with special requests and we will do our best to make your stay perfect.
This historic circa 1850s property once served as a gunsmith’s shop along the beautiful Bantam River just across from the old depot. It has undergone an extensive renovation preserving the historic charm but modernized for a New York City family seeking a luxurious and peaceful retreat. The location is quiet, serene and private, yet convenient to the very best villages and attractions Litchfield County is known for. There are no other homes in view, yet the cottage is centrally located only 4 miles from downtown Bantam, Washington Depot and New Preston as well as Bantam Lake, Mt. Tom State Park and Lake Waramaug. Three of Litchfield County’:s best skiing and snow boarding resorts are located within 30 minutes of the cottage - Mt Mowhawk is just 15 miles away! There is cross country skiing nearby at local state parks. Also close to several private boarding schools including The Gunnery and Rumsey Hall for visiting parents or faculty. Nearby activities include the Connecticut Wine Trail, plentiful hiking trails, and the Woodbury Antique trail as well as several fine dining restaurants and spas including Winvian Farms, The Mayflower and Arethusa’s al Tavolo—all within five miles. The Cottage is beautifully appointed and sits on a private, ½ acre parcel of the Bantam River. The glorious sound of the river can be heard from every room. A large landscaped deck is beautifully furnished with comfortable seating, dining, a charcoal grill and firepit. Near the water’s edge you’ll find a dining table and two wonderful Adirondack chairs. Across the large garden lawn are two comfortable garden benches nestled in the flower garden and at the forest edge—perfect spots for a quite conversation or enjoying some time alone. An oversized hammock hangs in a small grove of majestic pines near the river’s edge as well. The cedar outbuilding holds lawn games such as croquet, badminton and even whiffle ball along with a whole house back-up generator ensuring uninterrupted power during winter. There are even granite steps installed to lead you into the river. First floor includes a well-appointed kitchen with high-end kitchenware, living room with gas fireplace, window seat, entry with baby grand Steinway piano. There is also a first-floor bedroom with queen sized bed, armoire for storing clothes, bedside reading lamps, luxury lines, white goose down pillows and hooded bathrobes. There is also a fabulous full bath with double marble vanities, claw foot tub and shower, towel warmer and a great view of the river. A laundry room with full sized washer and dryer complete the first floor. Upstairs you will find a TV den with full size pull out sofa, spacious master bedroom with queen bed, seating area and panoramic views of the river. There is a second bedroom with two twin beds, bedside reading sconces and wonderful views of the river as well. An oversized bath serves both bedrooms but has en suite access from the master. There is a free-standing glass shower, double marble vanities, towel warmer and window with a view of the river. and garden. Amenities include original artwork, 100 Mpbs wireless internet, cable TV, Netflix, Sonos Wi-Fi music system throughout the property, built-in USB ports for charging electronics, high quality mattresses, high thread count linens, white goose down pillows, luggage racks in every bedroom, gas log fireplace, a Dutch door in the kitchen, radiant heat flooring in bathrooms, screened windows and doors and firewood for the firepit. Close your eyes and unwind with only the sound of the river and leaves rustling in the trees to surround you. The Bantam River Cottage is only 75 miles from Manhattan and about 20 minutes from the nearest Metro-North train station in Waterbury. Danbury, CT train station is 30 minutes away and Brewster, NY 45 minutes away. At just under two hours, but worlds away from NYC, this beautiful cottage is the perfect weekend or vacation getaway.
No other homes are in direct view of the property, which gives the feeling of being very private. Very little road traffic - peaceful and quiet. A few passers by on foot, walking their dogs, is much more common. You feel like you're a million miles away from everything, when actually you are quite close (within 5 miles) to the very best Litchfield county has to offer.
  • Beautiful cottage next to the river. Kitchen very well stocked with everything you need to cook meals. Very clean and comfortable, with everything you need for a wonderful stay.

  • We have spent a wonderful three days in this beautiful Cottage and it was unforgettable experience. The house was sparkling clean and well decorated with everything you need to enjoy your holiday. The location is magnificent which is a little paradise. Most importantly, Many thanks should go to Kathy (the Owner), who made our stay unforgettable and always memorable. We will definitely come again and highly recommended this cottage to everyone we know.

    Abdulmonem2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway!! Stayed at this property over Christmas break. Kathy has this home perfectly decorated for the cottage feel with all the modern updates you would need. I would definitely recommend this property.

    Jennifer 2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's place is a charming home situated on a gorgeous, secluded lot. A babbling brook runs right through the back yard, and it was quiet, peaceful, private, and serene. The house has great decor and thoughtful little touches everywhere: terry cloth bathrobes upstairs and down, nice toiletries, towel warmers and underfloor heating in the bathrooms - it felt like staying in a luxury hotel! The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you could need, and there's plenty of firewood and kindling for the outdoor fire pit. There are kids games and books, and a whole shed full of games we didn't get to. Kathy was extremely communicative and helpful in advance of our stay. Everything about our visit was lovely -- we can't wait to come back again!

    Elisha And Dan2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, very clean and has everything we needed. The kitchen was very well equipped... Name it they have everything, stuff for cooking, grilling, roasting, baking .... even a rice cooker. Quick response when communicating with host. Comfy beds, lot of board games, so our family had a wonderful time and will surely return!

    Sylvie 2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredibly nice long weekend at Bantam River Cottage. Kathy was an extraordinary host & her thoughtfully considered home & the peacefulness of the riverside setting make for an memorable stay. The grassy yard is long and flat, great for lounging - there’s a hammock overlooking the rapids - or for sports. The well equipped kitchen has a nice table & benched nook for meals. The upstairs den has a great tv & is a perfect place to watch movies. The beds are super comfortable, with excellent linens. If you play the piano, the Steinway is has an incredible sound. If open the windows (all with screens) you hear the sounds of the river. Kathy gave a great list of suggestions. We found driving the hilly surrounds to be part of the pleasure of being there. Swyft in nearby Kent was an especially tasty meal. We loved Arethusa Farm & their delicious ice cream; we had breakfast at their bakery. Overall, it’s a low-key superior offering. The restaurant looked great too. Plain Goods store in New Preston, after a drive around lake Waramaug, was another treat we discovered. Bantam River Cottage and Litchfield highly recommended, all seasons...

    Ben2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here on a Monday and Tuesday night in early October and it was spectacular. This is a truly special location on the river in what feels like the middle of nowhere (but is in fact 10 minutes from town). It is on a dirt road and is very quiet and secluded -- great for walking and running. The house is in excellent condition, has a wonderful little kitchen, is thoughtfully appointed, and comfy. Be aware that there is some construction going on rebuilding the small bridge right down the road from the property. The construction is audible from some parts of the house (but not problematic IMO) and it stopped by early afternoon each day that I was there. For the most part what you hear is the soothing babble of the Bantam River. Kathy is an excellent host and the place is very special. I hope to be back soon!

If you want to hike on miles of well marked trails White Memorial Foundation is for you and only 15 minutes away. Whether you stay for a weekend or a week you'll find our guest suite comfortable, convenient and a terrific value perfectly located for all that northwest Connecticut has to offer.  A Note About Cleanliness- If you read my reviews you will notice that many begin with a sentence about how clean they found the space. With the flu season in full swing and the looming Corona threat I want guests to know that I do all I can to minimize contamination. Here is an example of what I routinely do to prepare for a new guest party: Wear rubber gloves while cleaning to protect myself. All linens are washed in hot water, detergent and bleach. Every time! Freshly washed comforters and blankets are on all beds. I have 4 sets. The bathroom is cleaned with Lysol products. Wipe all door handles, remotes and handrails with antibacterial wipes. Wipe down kitchenette sink and food prep surfaces with Lysol cleaning spray. Dirty dishes, flatware and glassware are cleaned in my dishwasher.
Breakfast on the go? Try Little Town Deli on East St. Right out of the driveway, turn right at blinking light at the green. Tasty breakfast sandwiches and Green Mountain coffee. Or head down the hill (left out of driveway) to Big Daddy's at the corner of 61 and 6. Hearty breakfasts are served here along with a helping of local flavor. They also deliver to Bethlehem, $20 minimum order. There are several restaurant flyers in the welcome binder. Bethlehem is approximately halfway between New York City and Boston in beautiful Litchfield County. It's next door to Woodbury, noted for its many antique shops and near stops on the Connecticut Wine Trail. Historic homes like Bellamy-Ferriday House and Garden and Glebe House are just minutes away or see how native Indians lived at Washington's Institute For American Indian Studies. If you want to hike on miles of well marked trails White Memorial Foundation is for you and only 15 minutes north. Less than 2 miles away March Farms offers cherry, strawberry, blueberry, peach, pumpkin and apple picking in season, baked goods and a terrific play area for kids as well as seasonal events and activities.
  • This is an awesome space, impeccably clean and very nicely appointed. Very open and airy with skylights throughout. It's located in a peaceful rural area, and yet it's not far from several great restaurants and the Woodbury antiques district...there's even a movie theater located in a converted barn in nearby Bantam, that specializes in showing primarily indie and art films. If you're already familiar with the area, this makes a great base of operations...if not, you'll have a blast exploring all there is to see in the Litchfield hills. Janice is a great host who will offer as much (or as little!) interaction as you might desire. Highly recommended!!! Thanks Janice, for a great experience.

  • A wonderful, cozy, and quiet place.

  • We have travelled to CT for Christmas for the past 30 years sleeping on floors and couches. This was PERFECT for us! It was so wonderful to have beds, privacy, and lovely extra touches! Janice put up a tree and there were 2 'fireplaces', we loved the teapot and coffee maker and great snacks! Thank you Janice-hopefully we will see you next Christmas too!

    Darlene2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • I’ve stayed here several times and have always felt welcome, safe, and comfortable. It is a refreshing place to be.

  • Janice's place is very comfortable, clean and inviting. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Dawn2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Janice had a very nice upper level all updated, clean, welcoming and easy to find. She had fluffy white towels, soft bedding, updated styling in the bathroom and a mini kitchen with a light breakfast (milk, cereal, OJ, coffee) available in the fridge upstairs. We enjoyed our stay and even watched a movie with the Roku program available. She provided wifi and information on the local area. Janice was a kind host who was welcoming to our family.

    Marla2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, good location. We came here for a wedding in town and it was perfect for what we needed.

    Catherine2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Janice is a wonderful host and came to introduce herself to us while we were staying there, but otherwise respected our privacy and let us be the entire stay. The place was very clean and exactly as pictured. She left plenty of breakfast snacks, milk, coffee, and juice which was great. The TVs all have a Roku connected so you're able to watch all your Netflix, Hulu, etc. shows if you happen to have some downtime. Highly recommend this place if you're staying in the area in CT. Also recommend renting a car if you're traveling around the weekend; Ubers and rideshare services are harder to come by the later it gets. Just book, you won't regret it!

  • It is my great pleasure to review Marlene's place. First, she was very gracious and kind. Her place was beautiful, clean and secure. I appreciate the effort that she put in to a great visit and I also appreciate her flexibility. I will definitely be back whenever I need to run away from New York! Moreover, it was also very quiet and I was able to meditate peacefully.

  • This is the best value Airbnb I’ve ever had. Very spacious apartment. My wife and I could’ve relaxed here for days but we only needed it for a night on a road trip. Check in was easy and it had everything we needed. The coffee was an excellent touch and a great way to start our morning drive.

    Antonio2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful, warm and cozy space on so many levels. It is like having your own private little apartment with everything you need. It is attached to the beautiful main house but completely private and quiet in a beautiful historic neighborhood. The proximity to stores, restaurants, hospitals, shops is perfect but you would not know they are so close because it’s so peaceful. Marlene has thoughtfully stocked the kitchen and bathroom. There is a desk should you need. Windows in every room with wonderful natural light that looks into the beautiful secluded back yard. You do not hear any noise from the main house and Marlene made herself completely available, should we have needed her. This was a 5 star experience.

  • Beautiful space, very well-maintained, with everything you might need! It's very quiet but allows access to a lot of activities nearby. Sarah left detailed instructions, a much-needed bottle of wine, and was extremely responsive to me during my trip. She was also very flexible and checked up on me as a snowstorm hit when I was arriving. Despite a lot of snow, she had the driveway plowed in plenty of time to allow me to get out. The space was extremely clean, warm, and nicely decorated, and I'd love to return!

The original restoration was done in 1980. The home was purchased 5 years ago and underwent a most thoughtful style overhaul, with the addition of wide plank floors throughout, bead-boarding, board and batten, and lighting throughout from Remains Lighting. This attention to detail is evident in the landscaping. New plantings and a new pool area make this home special. The house is fully insulated for year-round use and has baseboard heating throughout. Supplemental heat can be provided by the fireplace.
The property is near the crest of a hill, facing south with sun all day long. Looking Glass Hill is a less-travelled road, close to 202 and 5 minutes from the center of Bantam (with Arethusa, Bantam Market, Bantam Bread, antiques, a farmer's market, Bantam Lake). Cars rarely drive by and the back of the property is very private. Our neighbors on either side are second homes and are rarely occupied. The property is surrounded by woods and hills.
  • Michael & Stacey's place is beautiful. My friends and I were overjoyed when we pulled into the driveway, and the excitement didn't stop when we walked in and saw the inside. Acres of wilderness and forest right on the property and several fireplaces make for a cozy night. Michael is an easygoing and friendly host and I hope to be back soon :)

  • Great stay as the host couldn’t be more thoughtful. The home is comfortable and very accurately portrayed in the photos. Worth staying once as the location is great!

    Maryana2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house has a great layout. Two common areas on opposite sides of the building give guests ample room to congregate or spread out for some quiet time. Speaking of quiet, the bedrooms are spaced out very nicely allowing for plenty of privacy. The best amenity was the old school record player and the awesome album collection.

    Paul2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were 3 couples and three kids under 5 and everyone loved the house, the yard, the fire pit and the perfect pool. The house was beautiful, beds cozy. Zero complaints, would stay again in a jiffy. The house was great for all of us—salt water pool was particularly fab (and there is no deep/shallow end; it’s about 4ft deep side to side and perfect for young swimmers and laps. Plenty of shade from a huge umbrella.)

    Rob2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Stacey made us feel Like we were their friends - that is how hospitable they were. When we had questions about the house or the area they answered us immediately and gave great recommendations. Everything from the linens to the shampoo in the shower were great! It was a fabulous weekend for our family and our friends.

    Melissa2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I came here over NYE weekend with my cousin and his wife (FYI the house could have easily fit two more people). This house is amazing and Michael and Stacey were great hosts! The house is even better in person than in pics, and it’s in a great area with some restaurants and several grocery stores/markets near by (we ended up going to the market every day and cooking at night). The house has a beautiful fireplace, great WiFi, amazing backyard for our dogs to run in and a great kitchen. I really can’t say enough good things— I highly recommend renting here! We can’t wait to come back in the summer to use the pool! Thank you again Michael and Stacey!

    Carrie2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We are three married couples, and stayed at Michael and Stacey’s house for a week in July. We had a wonderful stay. The pictures don’t do their house justice. It is a beautiful and peaceful retreat from the city, and Michael and Stacey were extremely hospitable, and great communicators. They offered great tips on local activities, and we wish we could have gotten to more of them but it was hard tearing ourselves away from the beautiful house and pool!

    Grace2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Stacey were wonderful host. Communication was great and getting settled in was simple. Their home is absolutely stunning. Stayed here for a winter getaway and could not have asked for a more beautiful home. Lots of charm in all of the rooms and the grounds were spectacular. I will definitely be coming back in the summer to enjoy the fire pit (we were snowed in), the swimming pool and the greenery.

Come enjoy our cozy, clean, newly renovated semi-detached cottage in the Litchfield Hills. Stay in, cook dinner, and relax on the large porch and listen to the sound of our brook and the Housatonic River just steps away. An ideal writer or artist retreat. Or enjoy the surrounding area - there are lots of restaurants, galleries, day hikes, and outdoor activities within a short drive. 8 miles to Kent, voted the prettiest small town in CT, 5 miles to Mohawk Ski Area and 20 minutes to Metro North.
  • Great location. Stylish, well-designed space with everything you need. Comfortable, quiet stay. Kind, responsive hosts: Pam and her partner went out of their way to help me with the WiFi passcode. Thank you!

    Hong2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Pam responds very quickly and garnishes her cottage with special touches making you feel welcome in a home away form home. We will definitely go back to explore more of the area! You will not be disappointed staying in this well decorated, clean, cozy home away from home.

    Justina2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pam and Walter have provided the perfect home-away-from-home for all types of travelers. The kitchen is perfectly sized and appointed, the location behind Pam and Walt’s home is private and serene, and they are more than happy to help should you ever need anything! I can’t say enough about this stay, except I almost don’t want to post how wonderful it was in case it’s booked next time is like to visit! Thank you, Pam and Walt!

    Meredith2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pam's cottage is truly charming, you won't be disappointed! My husband and I were just there for the night so we could ski at Mohawk Mountain the next day; it was perfect for us and only a few minutes from the mountain. Pam's communication was prompt and warm, her space full of personal touches and so welcoming, and our only complaint is we wish we could have stayed longer! The space is small but really all you need and very clean, the bed is comfortable and the sheets soft, and Pam and Walter have thought of and supplied so many amenities like toiletries, kitchen basics, and a binder full of local recommendations. Pam was also wonderful to communicate with and accommodating with logistics when we needed to arrive late. Check in and out was incredibly easy and to top everything off, the cottage is in a beautiful area with a river rushing by. Thanks Pam for everything!

    Lindsay2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Friends and I booked this cottage as a gift to my brother and sister-in-law. They thoroughly enjoyed their babymoon at this location and are already talking about hoping to return in future. Pam was extremely accommodating and friends and willing to work with us on making the trip feasible to gift. My sister-in-law describes the cottage as adorable and cozy.

    Leah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a perfect getaway, 10/10 would stay there again.

    Rebecca2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Pam & Walt’s cottage was wonderful. It was such a cozy, tidy, and relaxing place. They left a binder full of suggestions to maximize our comfort and enjoyment in the area, and were extremely quick to reply when we had any questions. We felt right at home and can’t wait to be back.

    Caleb2020-02-10T00:00:00Z

This time I even walked to two Local establishments both wonderful, 202 and Whitehorse Tavern are gems in the area. I highly recommend the “ relaxation station“ for anybody looking for an amazing view, wonderful location and most thoughtful hostess.

  • I have NEVER used a shared accommodation AirBnB, and did so this time on a recommendation of a friend of a friend. I was so very glad that I listened to my friend, this is the nicest AirBnB I have ever used, with the nicest host. Norma responded promptly and warmly to every inquiry, let us arrive early and stay an extra night. Her home is as beautiful as the Berkshire mountains and the lakes in the Waterbury area themselves. The house has everything anyone would want (ie an iron, a microwave and an extremely nice backyard.) Awesome experience!!!

    Lauren2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Norma's place is convenient, clean & accommodating. Her response time exceeds the expected norm. Although I did not have the pleasure of meeting her in person I expect that she be a personable, pleasant person by the way in which she presents her property & my previous guest reviews. The Room was spacious and extremely clean. The bed very comfortable, and the sheets very cozy. Great towels and all of the other little extras that you tend to expect a from a hotel stay. The private bath is across the hall from your room. It has been updated and is an esthetically pleasing and comfortable space. Although your bathroom is outside your sleeping space, it does have a feeling of privacy going from one room to the other. Add appears as though that part of the house is "yours" alone. Would totally recommend this property when in the Waterbury area. Great accommodation deal for the fee.

    Rebecca2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Norma's turn of the century house is amazing! It has lots of character, wood work, and craftsmanship that is hard to find in newer homes. We loved it! Norma made it easy to check in/out and the window AC unit in the bedroom worked great on one of the hottest days of the year!. Off-street parking in the driveway was easy and the driveway is big. Thanks Norma!

    Paolo And Laurie2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous historic home was immaculately clean. The room was huge. I had my own bathroom for my stay, which was great. There was not air conditioning in the bathroom, and it was 88 degrees outside, so it was quite hot in the bathroom. But most days that would not be an issue. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were buttery soft, there were lots of pillows in a variety of firmness, and the towels were fluffy. There were 2 cute diners within a 10 minute drive for dinner and breakfast.

7-bedroom cottage overlooks Bantam Lake, with exclusive access to dock and water sports. Two stories -- 3 bedrooms on bottom floor, 4 bedrooms on upper floor. Fully renovated with large wraparound porch, new kitchen and bathrooms. AC, Internet, TV, modern kitchen and bath. This is a paradise for kids, with 100-foot shoreline featuring swimming areas, water sports and 3 kayaks. Wonderful for family reunions. Cottage is fully winterized with baseboard heating in all bedrooms.
Cottage is on same property as two other cottages, but has exclusive access to lakefront area, including picnic area with grill and fire pit. Sunrises are amazing. Please note that one or two of the other cottages may be rented at same time, but they would have separate access to adjoining dock area. (See photos). The cottages may also be rented as a package for special events. In all, there are 13 bedrooms sleeping 25 guests. Bantam Lake area is undiscovered gem, with top-quality restaurants, artisan bakeries, natural museum and 35 miles of hiking trails just minutes away. Also, best ice cream in world produced by local Arethusa Farm Dairy.
Bantam Lake is a conservationist’s dream. Most of lakefront is owned by White Memorial Trust, which preserves bucolic character. Even on busy holiday weekends, there are very few boats on water.
  • The place is great. Its right on the lake and we had a wonderful time swimming from the dock, grilling by the lake, and just hanging out. The location is a huge highlight and being able to walk out from our porch from breakfast and jump in the lake was lovely. The house was as pictured, although the photos don’t really do the wraparound porch justice. We had breakfasts at a big table for 8 looking at a grassy field leading down to the lake. If there was a downside it was the small kitchen. Perfectly adequate for prepping for the grill or making eggs for breakfast but it would have been tight for cooking a full dinner for a crowd (we were 6 adults and 5 kids). Also no dishwasher and a bit limited space for washing dishes. The bedrooms were fine, lots of choices for our combination or families. Most of the rooms had trundles in addition to the listed beds, which was nice. The upstairs bathroom was a bit small but again perfectly adequate. David was a thoughtful and unobtrusive host.

No pets or smoking please. Space is limited to three people maximum. There is a small TV with cable and I will provide access to WIFI, when you arrive. You can park in the driveway ( 2 cars max, please). This a perfect space for both short and longer term stays. Walking distance to Taft School, 10 min drive to Waterbury and St. Mary's Hospitals and convenient to Rts 8 & 84 & 6.
I live in a pretty, friendly and quiet residential neighborhood on a quiet street. We're about 5-10 min from Rte 8 and 10 - 15 min from Rte 84. Walking distance to Taft and their track which is great for that early morning walk.
  • A wonderful place for us to rest while we were in town for a wedding. Thank you!

  • Always a pleasant experience staying at Pam's. It's super clean and comfortable, and in a really nice neighborhood. A great starting-off point for visiting more of beautiful Litchfield County and the Berkshires. It's become our home-away-from home when visiting the Watertown area.

  • This is a great apartment with everything you could need for a short or long stay. Nice kitchen and bathroom, den/sitting area with cable tv and off street parking. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Pam’s place! ,

  • Nice comfortable downstairs apartment that was easy to access. Had all the amenities I needed to have breakfast and cook a meal. Very convenient to Watertown and surrounding areas. Easy to find and a very good value.

  • This is a charming and very large, recently redone, studio apartment. Lot’s of space for two people and a large modern bathroom, cute kitchen and plenty of room for generous and separated sitting and sleeping areas. Very well located for Taft School and central Watertown, a short drive to Litchfield and Woodbury. Pam is a warm wonderful host and provides good local recommendations for restaurants, hikes, etc.

    Heather2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pam is a warm host, very comfortable accommodation, safe location, will stay there again. A+

Charming rural cabin in beautiful Washington Depot, Connecticut.
This property is situated high on a hill above the road. The cottage is recently remodeled from top to bottom. It has lots of vintage charm but combined with a modern stove, fridge and bathroom. There are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and walk-in closet. The second has a queen bed and another large closet. Both have dressers, night stands and plenty of space to stretch out. The kitchen includes a coffee machine, toaster, electric tea kettle and all the pots and pans you might need.
The town of Washington Depot was the inspiration for "Starry Hollow" on the show Gilmore Girls, and it's the quintessential New England town. A large percentage of the town is dedicated to open space preservation, and there is a beautiful lake and river in town.
  • We loved staying at the cottage! It is charming, clean , and comfortable. Thank you Robert ! We will definitely book again !

    Luisa2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The space is beautiful and clean. It was perfect for us for a couple of nights of being outside the city. There are trails just a few mins drive away. It was also great to stargaze is the evenings!

    Andrew2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's place is amazing. There is a trailhead right in the backyard that leads to a fairly easy trek up to a gorgeous summit, and has access to multiple other trails. The house has a wonderful little kitchen if you're planning on cooking your own meals during your stay with a large gas range. There are also some very nice and cozy spots to relax, eat and drink just minutes from the cabin if you don't plan on cooking. You truly get the best of both worlds, whether you'd like a secluded cabin feel or a place with ease of access to local amenities. We did a tour at the Litchfield distillery just 10 minute drive away which included a free tasting, if that's you're thing I would recommend checking it out! Robert is a highly attentive and responsive host, we'd love to come back! I recommend booking this spot if it is available, don't wait!

  • Absolutely loved staying at Robert’s guest cottage. The place was quaint and chic, exactly what we needed. Our doggies loved running on the beautiful property and we enjoyed a great hike behind the house. Robert was an excellent and attentive host and was there to answer any question we had immediately. Definitely hope to return again!

  • A charming, light-filled cottage on a hill! Situated far enough from the main road to feel private. Decor is thoughtful, bath and kitchen have been recently remodeled. Beds very comfortable. Robert responds to messages immediately! Abundance of trails and nature preserves to explore, xcountry skiing a mile away, as well as "Wigwam Escape", which was a surprising highlight for a family with varied ages. Just lovely.

    Lorna2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Robert was extremely hospitable and responsive! He offered amazing trips for my NYC getaway, which was the perfect oasis for tranquility I was looking for. His home was brand-spanking new with very stylish decor. This experience was very relaxing and at a great price.

We are a family of 5 that rents out our beloved weekend cottage during the fall and spring. This is a beautifully constructed and maintained 100 year old cottage with its own private beach on Mt Tom Pond, known as CT's cleanest lake. The property is tucked between the pond and Mt. Tom State Park. You can walk out the back door to hike Mt. Tom, while a 50 foot long porch overlooks our private beach. Kayaks and a canoe are here for your use. A treehouse and zip line and Slack Line are out back.
100 year old rustic lake cabin with modern touches. Private beach, dock, fire pit and hammock, treehouse, hammock and zip line. It’s a mini summer camp that’s all great for fall leaf peeping.
Adjacent to Mt. Tom State Park with great hiking and a state beach. Minutes to the cute towns of Bantam (home to the famed Arthusa creamery and restaurant), New Preston, Washington and Litchfield, which all have great restaurants. Near White Flower Farm, a horticultural dream destination. Close to hiking in all directions including the Appalachian Trail. Also minutes away from Bantam Lake and Lake Waramaug.
  • This cabin is close enough to go explore and be part of the action but also secluded enough to just hang and play there. The outside play structures were a hit with my children. We would stay again.

    Leah2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, rustic cabin with newer updates. Great fire pit! We really enjoyed our stay.

    Danielle2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was exactly what we were looking for for a weekend away from the city with friends. The scenery was beautiful and the cabin was super cute. We had a lot of fun and would go back again!

    Nora2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great country house on a charming lake in a beautiful part of CT. We loved the interior vibe, my toddler loved the kid friendly toys, my husband loved the canoe, and our baby had a crib to sleep in! Would stay again - we had a very fun summer camp like experience! There is an unpaved road to get to the house which our very basic rental car handled without any problem at all.

    Maegan2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place. Excellent small touches like the Bluetooth speaker, complimentary bottle of wine, and tasteful candles. Would return.

Fancy something a little more unique? Tired of the usual? Come and enjoy a one of a kind converted tobacco barn filled with unique artwork and industrial lighting - plus a grand piano! We are located in the beautiful Litchfield Hills surrounded by great walking trails and local eateries- two pubs within walking distance and an Italian deli truck just down the road. Within two hours of NYC, this is an ideal getaway. Come and see why😀
The main living area is just six feet from the road up two steps . The bathroom and shower are on the main floor with the bedroom up a flight of stairs with a rail.
We are close to many great walking trails , eateries, antique shops and the two local towns of Washington and New Preston which have many boutiques and one off shops. I am planning to have a full guide book available in the apartment and am always only a door away for advice.
  • Super cute place with amazing amenities. You really feel cozy and at home. Next to a beautiful vineyard with a lakeside view and a cute town awesome antique stores

  • Denny’s place was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who’s looking to get away for some peace and beauty

    Eric2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Strongly recommend staying at Denny's converted barn. Very warm/cozy vibe that led to a relaxing weekend. I'm sure we'll be back but if you're on the fence about a serene weekend away, this place is the answer. Affordable and wonderful.

    Michael2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A great little hideaway in the Litchfield Hills! We enjoyed a cozy, relaxing stay at Denny’s and recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay in the area. The apartment is unique and charming and comes equipped with everything you could need and want. Communication with Denny was easy. We did not have one worry or concern while staying there!

    Teresa2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

The Madeline Room has an original Sears & Roebuck full size brass bed. These were made in the 1920's. It has a very comfortable new pillow top mattress. It shares a bathroom with the Genevieve Room. There is plenty of closet and dresser space for longer stays. For guests staying an extended period 30 days, there is kitchen access with an area in the refrigerator to store food and a cabinet for can goods.
The room has a window on the north side that always has a pleasant breeze.
We love that you can walk to downtown in 15 minutes
  • This is a wonderful place to stay. I completely recommend it if you're up in the area for any amount of time. The room was comfortable and worked great for my purposes. I would stay here again!

  • Another great stay with Faye and Paul!

    David2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Faye’s place was homey and quiet. It was super convenient to town and the places I like to go. I walked a lot which is exactly what I needed. The bed and pillows were comfy soft and good quality. She had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.

    Heith And Angela2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely terrific place. For the money, it’s even more amazing. It’s an old home that’s been incredibly well taken care of, added to and accessorized. Both the owners went through the Pratt Institute and have a great eye for design. Plus they’re very interesting conversationalist, very helpful and just very nice to be around. We booked very late, on the same day and we had some trouble communications on the way there. But that was absolutely the only thing to even slightly complain about and that is very slight indeed. Don’t miss this place.

    Phil2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very quaint and interesting home. Faye and Paul were great. I recommend staying here if you have reason to be in the area.

    David2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are wonderful! Very personable, interesting and welcoming. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and perfect for my needs. It was a shared bathroom however, there was no awkwardness at all! I would absolutely recommend staying here. I'll be back as I have family in the area.

    Eileen2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Picturesque, cozy and clean! Far surpassed my expectations. I am looking forward to a return visit with family and friends.
